佛言:「當學。工語不?沙門法行,獨一處坐,但當正意。一處一臥一行不?中正,一為曉身。受經亦獨居。還使千人一人勝,千軍中能得勝;一人能勝身,是為勝。軍中勝,勝勝者,不如勝餘勝;己勝身,常為勝。無力亦不勝,摩泛藍亦不能己勝,不能作不勝,比丘勝乃不勝。先為自身定正教,后教余,為諸輩如我。自身上頭隨法行,便教餘人,如是易教。己身如是,如教他人,已得身教意,不復難教余。欲教余,先自教,還使自教,從身教得黠。為自身他故,多人亦莫犯。無有極自身,為自念無有極。自歸無有過身自歸,不如自歸諦。教身已黠,得歸已黠,便得法已黠,便得戒已黠。昆弟中不復憂已黠,便得樂已黠,不復憂自身,自歸身亦得歸他人。己身無有極,教一切從苦得脫。」
問曰:「何等為工語?」
師曰:「說三十七品經為工語;謂所說不亂人意,亦為工語。」
「何等為法行?」
「謂不離二百五十戒,是為法行。」
「何等為一為曉身?」
「謂知分別身中事。」
「何等為軍中人能得勝?」

佛說:『應當學習。擅長言語嗎?沙門的修行,獨自在一處靜坐,但應當端正心意。能做到一處居住、一處睡眠、一行持嗎?保持中正,一心爲了明瞭自身。接受經文也獨自居住。要使千人中有一人勝出,如同千軍萬馬中能夠得勝一樣;一人能夠戰勝自己,這才是真正的勝利。軍中的勝利,戰勝再戰勝的人,不如戰勝煩惱的殘餘;自己戰勝自己,才是永遠的勝利。沒有力量也不能戰勝,即使是摩泛藍(Mahapranam,大名稱)也不能戰勝自己,不能做到不勝,比丘的勝利也可能不是真正的勝利。先為自己確定正確的教法,然後才能教導他人,對待眾人要像對待自己一樣。自己首先按照正法修行,然後教導他人,這樣就容易教導。自己能夠做到這樣,像教導他人一樣,已經得到了身教和意教,再教導他人就不困難了。想要教導他人,先要教導自己,要使自己能夠被教導,從自身修行中獲得智慧。爲了自己也爲了他人,不要冒犯。沒有窮盡自身,要常常想著沒有窮盡。皈依自身沒有超過自身的皈依,不如皈依真諦。教導自身已經明智,獲得皈依已經明智,便能獲得佛法已經明智,便能獲得戒律已經明智。在兄弟中不再為自己擔憂,已經明智,便能獲得快樂已經明智,不再為自身擔憂,自己皈依自身也能使他人皈依。自己沒有窮盡,教導一切眾生從痛苦中解脫。』 有人問:『什麼是擅長言語?』 老師回答:『宣說三十七道品經就是擅長言語;所說的不擾亂人心意,也是擅長言語。』 『什麼是法行?』 『就是不違背二百五十條戒律,這就是法行。』 『什麼是一心爲了明瞭自身?』 『就是知道並分別自身中的事情。』 『什麼是軍中人能夠得勝?』 『就是人不能……』

The Sutra of Buddha Healing the Body

The Buddha said: 'One should learn. Are you skilled in speech? The practice of a Shramana (沙門,ascetic), sitting alone in one place, but one should have a correct mind. Can one dwell in one place, sleep in one place, and practice one conduct? Maintain impartiality, with one mind to understand oneself. Receiving the scriptures also dwell alone. One should make one person out of a thousand excel, just as one can be victorious in a thousand armies; one person can conquer oneself, this is true victory. Victory in the army, defeating those who are defeated again and again, is not as good as conquering the remaining afflictions; conquering oneself is always victory. Without strength, one cannot conquer, even Mahapranam (摩泛藍,great name) cannot conquer oneself, cannot achieve non-victory, the victory of a Bhikkhu (比丘,monk) may not be true victory. First establish the correct Dharma (教法,teachings) for oneself, then teach others, treat all beings as you treat yourself. First practice according to the Dharma oneself, then teach others, this is easy to teach. If one can do this oneself, like teaching others, having already obtained the teaching of body and mind, it is no longer difficult to teach others. If you want to teach others, first teach yourself, make yourself teachable, gain wisdom from self-cultivation. For the sake of oneself and for the sake of others, do not offend. There is no end to oneself, always think that there is no end. There is no refuge greater than oneself, it is better to take refuge in truth. Teaching oneself is already wise, obtaining refuge is already wise, then one can obtain the Dharma is already wise, then one can obtain the precepts is already wise. Among brothers, no longer worry about oneself, already wise, then one can obtain happiness is already wise, no longer worry about oneself, one's own refuge in oneself can also enable others to take refuge. There is no end to oneself, teach all beings to be liberated from suffering.' Someone asked: 'What is skilled speech?' The teacher replied: 'Expounding the Thirty-Seven Limbs of Enlightenment (三十七道品經) is skilled speech; what is said does not disturb people's minds, this is also skilled speech.' 'What is Dharma practice?' 'It is not violating the two hundred and fifty precepts, this is Dharma practice.' 'What is with one mind to understand oneself?'
