八吉祥經
梁扶南三藏僧伽婆羅譯
如是我聞:
一時,佛住舍衛國祇樹給孤獨園,與大比丘眾一千二百五十人俱,菩薩摩訶薩八萬人,及諸天龍、鬼神等。
爾時,世尊告舍利弗:「從此佛世界,向東方過一恒河沙世界,有世界名曰天勝,彼土有佛,名善說吉如來、應供、正遍知,今現在說法。
「舍利弗!從彼佛世界,向東方過二恒河沙等世界,有世界名念意,彼土有佛,名普光明如來、應供、正遍知,今現在說法。
「舍利弗!從彼佛世界,向東方過三恒河沙等世界,有世界名可愛遊戲,彼土有佛,名戰鬥勝吉如來、應供、正遍知,今現在說法。
「舍利弗!從彼世界,向東方過四恒河沙等世界,有世界名善清凈聚,彼土有佛,名自在幢王如來、應供、正遍知,今現在說法。
「舍利弗!從彼佛世界,向東方過五恒河沙等世界,有世界名無塵聚,彼土有佛,名無邊功德光明吉如來、應供、正遍知,今現在說法。
「舍利弗!從彼佛世界,向東方過六恒河沙等世界,有世界名無妨礙遊戲,彼土有佛,名無障礙業柱吉如來
【現代漢語翻譯】 現代漢語譯本 如是我聞: 一時,佛陀住在舍衛國(Śrāvastī)的祇樹給孤獨園(Jetavana Anāthapiṇḍada-ārāma),與一千二百五十位大比丘(bhikṣu)以及八萬位菩薩摩訶薩(bodhisattva-mahāsattva),還有諸天、龍、鬼神等在一起。 當時,世尊告訴舍利弗(Śāriputra)說:『從這個佛世界向東方,經過一個恒河沙(gaṅgā-nadī-vālukā)數的世界,有一個世界名為天勝(Devavijaya),那個世界有一尊佛,名為善說吉如來(Subhāṣita-maṅgala-tathāgata)、應供(arhat)、正遍知(samyak-saṃbuddha),現在正在說法。』 『舍利弗!從那個佛世界向東方,經過兩個恒河沙數的世界,有一個世界名爲念意(Manomati),那個世界有一尊佛,名為普光明如來(Samantaprabhāsa-tathāgata)、應供、正遍知,現在正在說法。』 『舍利弗!從那個佛世界向東方,經過三個恒河沙數的世界,有一個世界名為可愛遊戲(Priyakrīḍita),那個世界有一尊佛,名為戰鬥勝吉如來(Saṃgrāma-vijaya-maṅgala-tathāgata)、應供、正遍知,現在正在說法。』 『舍利弗!從那個世界向東方,經過四個恒河沙數的世界,有一個世界名為善清凈聚(Suviśuddhasaṃcaya),那個世界有一尊佛,名為自在幢王如來(Svāmitadhvajarāja-tathāgata)、應供、正遍知,現在正在說法。』 『舍利弗!從那個佛世界向東方,經過五個恒河沙數的世界,有一個世界名為無塵聚(Vigata-rajas-saṃcaya),那個世界有一尊佛,名為無邊功德光明吉如來(Anantaguṇa-prabhāsa-maṅgala-tathāgata)、應供、正遍知,現在正在說法。』 『舍利弗!從那個佛世界向東方,經過六個恒河沙數的世界,有一個世界名為無妨礙遊戲(Apratihata-krīḍita),那個世界有一尊佛,名為無障礙業柱吉如來(Apratihata-karma-stambha-maṅgala-tathāgata)』
【English Translation】 English version Thus have I heard: At one time, the Buddha was dwelling in the Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Park in Śrāvastī, together with a great assembly of twelve hundred and fifty bhikṣus (monks), eighty thousand bodhisattva-mahāsattvas (great bodhisattvas), and various devas (gods), nāgas (dragons), yakṣas (demons), and other beings. At that time, the World Honored One said to Śāriputra: 『From this Buddha-world, going eastward beyond the number of worlds equal to one Ganges river of sand, there is a world named Devavijaya (Heavenly Victory). In that land, there is a Buddha named Subhāṣita-maṅgala-tathāgata (Well-Spoken Auspicious Thus Come One), arhat (worthy one), samyak-saṃbuddha (perfectly enlightened one), who is now teaching the Dharma.』 『Śāriputra! From that Buddha-world, going eastward beyond the number of worlds equal to two Ganges rivers of sand, there is a world named Manomati (Mindful). In that land, there is a Buddha named Samantaprabhāsa-tathāgata (Universal Light Thus Come One), arhat, samyak-saṃbuddha, who is now teaching the Dharma.』 『Śāriputra! From that Buddha-world, going eastward beyond the number of worlds equal to three Ganges rivers of sand, there is a world named Priyakrīḍita (Delightful Play). In that land, there is a Buddha named Saṃgrāma-vijaya-maṅgala-tathāgata (Victory in Battle Auspicious Thus Come One), arhat, samyak-saṃbuddha, who is now teaching the Dharma.』 『Śāriputra! From that world, going eastward beyond the number of worlds equal to four Ganges rivers of sand, there is a world named Suviśuddhasaṃcaya (Pure Collection). In that land, there is a Buddha named Svāmitadhvajarāja-tathāgata (Lord Banner King Thus Come One), arhat, samyak-saṃbuddha, who is now teaching the Dharma.』 『Śāriputra! From that Buddha-world, going eastward beyond the number of worlds equal to five Ganges rivers of sand, there is a world named Vigata-rajas-saṃcaya (Dustless Collection). In that land, there is a Buddha named Anantaguṇa-prabhāsa-maṅgala-tathāgata (Infinite Merit Light Auspicious Thus Come One), arhat, samyak-saṃbuddha, who is now teaching the Dharma.』 『Śāriputra! From that Buddha-world, going eastward beyond the number of worlds equal to six Ganges rivers of sand, there is a world named Apratihata-krīḍita (Unobstructed Play). In that land, there is a Buddha named Apratihata-karma-stambha-maṅgala-tathāgata (Unobstructed Karma Pillar Auspicious Thus Come One)』
、應供、正遍知,今現在說法。
「舍利弗!從彼佛世界,向東方過七恒河沙等世界,有世界名金聚,彼土有佛,名妙華勇猛如來、應供、正遍知,今現在說法。
「舍利弗!從彼佛世界,向東方過八恒河沙等世界,有世界名美聲,彼土有佛,名寶蓮華安住王如來、應供、正遍知,今現在說法。
「舍利弗!此八佛土皆悉清凈,無有女人亦無五濁。
「舍利弗!若善男子、善女人住大乘者,聞此八佛名號,受持不忘,併爲他說,若生三塗、八難處者,無有是處。若有女人聞八佛名號,自能憶持,兼為他說,若更受女身,無有是處。
「舍利弗!若善男子、善女人,住于大乘,聞此八佛名號,聞已受持,為他人說,今世後世常有神通,得樂說辯,深修禪定,具陀羅尼,六根清凈,恒值聖人,無天龍、夜叉、人及非人、盜賊、水、火、毒藥等畏,一切怖畏皆悉除滅,臥覺常安,無諸惡夢,常為諸天之所守護。」
爾時,世尊說此祇夜:
「若有善男子, 及以諸女人, 聞八佛號名, 憶持為人說, 身心常安隱, 無有諸恐怖。 繫念不忘失, 滅無量劫罪, 後生天人中, 遠離諸惡趣。 六根常清凈, 端正有威德, 八部諸善神, 是夜常守
【現代漢語翻譯】 現代漢語譯本 『舍利弗(Śāriputra,佛陀的十大弟子之一)!』從那個佛世界,向東方經過七個恒河沙數的世界,有一個世界名叫金聚,那個地方有一尊佛,名叫妙華勇猛如來(Ratnakusumavikrāmin,意為寶蓮花勇猛),應供(Arhat,值得供養的聖者)、正遍知(Samyaksaṃbuddha,完全覺悟者),現在正在說法。 『舍利弗!』從那個佛世界,向東方經過八個恒河沙數的世界,有一個世界名叫美聲,那個地方有一尊佛,名叫寶蓮華安住王如來(Ratnapadmavyūharāja,意為寶蓮花莊嚴王),應供、正遍知,現在正在說法。 『舍利弗!』這八個佛土都非常清凈,沒有女人,也沒有五濁(指劫濁、見濁、煩惱濁、眾生濁、命濁)。 『舍利弗!』如果善男子、善女人修習大乘佛法,聽到這八尊佛的名號,受持不忘,並且為他人宣說,如果還會墮入三惡道(地獄、餓鬼、畜生)、八難(指地獄、餓鬼、畜生、長壽天、邊地、盲聾瘖啞、世智辯聰、佛前佛後)之處,那是不可能的。如果有女人聽到這八尊佛的名號,自己能夠憶持,並且為他人宣說,如果還會再次受女身,那是不可能的。 『舍利弗!』如果善男子、善女人,修習大乘佛法,聽到這八尊佛的名號,聽后受持,為他人宣說,今生來世常常具有神通,得到善巧辯才,深入修習禪定,具足陀羅尼(總持法門),六根清凈,恒常值遇聖人,沒有天龍(Deva-nāga,天上的龍族)、夜叉(Yakṣa,一種鬼神)、人以及非人、盜賊、水、火、毒藥等畏懼,一切怖畏都全部消除,睡覺和醒來都安穩,沒有各種惡夢,常常被諸天所守護。』 這時,世尊說了這首偈頌: 『如果有善男子,以及諸位女人,聽到八佛的名號,憶持併爲他人說,身心常常安穩,沒有各種恐怖。繫念不忘失,消滅無量劫的罪業,後生在天人之中,遠離各種惡趣。六根常常清凈,端正具有威德,八部諸善神,日夜常常守護。』
【English Translation】 English version 『Śāriputra! From that Buddha-world, passing eastward through seven Ganges-river-sand-like worlds, there is a world named Gold-Gathering. In that land, there is a Buddha named Wonderful-Flower-Valiant-Tathāgata (Ratnakusumavikrāmin), worthy of offerings (Arhat), perfectly enlightened (Samyaksaṃbuddha), now teaching the Dharma. 『Śāriputra! From that Buddha-world, passing eastward through eight Ganges-river-sand-like worlds, there is a world named Beautiful-Sound. In that land, there is a Buddha named Jewel-Lotus-Abiding-King-Tathāgata (Ratnapadmavyūharāja), worthy of offerings, perfectly enlightened, now teaching the Dharma. 『Śāriputra! These eight Buddha-lands are all pure, without women and without the five turbidities (referring to the turbidity of the kalpa, views, afflictions, beings, and life).』 『Śāriputra! If good men or good women, abiding in the Mahāyāna, hear the names of these eight Buddhas, receive and uphold them without forgetting, and also speak of them to others, there is no possibility that they would be born in the three evil realms (hell, hungry ghosts, animals) or the eight difficulties (hell, hungry ghosts, animals, long-lived gods, border regions, blindness and deafness, worldly cleverness, and before or after a Buddha). If women hear the names of these eight Buddhas, can remember them, and also speak of them to others, there is no possibility that they would receive a female body again.』 『Śāriputra! If good men or good women, abiding in the Mahāyāna, hear the names of these eight Buddhas, having heard them, receive and uphold them, and speak of them to others, in this life and future lives they will always have supernormal powers, attain eloquent speech, deeply cultivate meditation, possess dhāraṇīs (mnemonic devices), have pure six senses, constantly encounter sages, and be without fear of devas (Deva-nāga), yakṣas (Yakṣa), humans and non-humans, thieves, water, fire, poison, etc. All fears will be completely eliminated, they will sleep and wake peacefully, have no bad dreams, and will always be protected by the devas.』 At that time, the World-Honored One spoke this verse: 『If there are good men, and also all women, who hear the names of the eight Buddhas, remember and speak of them to others, their bodies and minds will always be peaceful, without any fears. If they keep their minds focused and do not forget, they will extinguish the sins of countless kalpas, and be reborn among devas and humans, far from all evil realms. Their six senses will always be pure, they will be upright and have dignity, and the eight classes of good deities will always protect them day and night.』
護。 人天所恭敬, 供養生忻喜, 夜叉及非人, 盜賊與刀杖, 水火毒藥等, 此畏皆悉無, 臥覺恒安隱, 無有諸惡夢。 利根有智慧, 常樂聞正法, 聞已生信心, 得深妙法者, 口氣無臭穢, 精進為他說, 眾魔及外道, 無有敢幹亂。 女人聞佛名, 憶持為他說, 盡此女人報, 後生不復受。 誦持為人說, 八佛之名號, 得諸功德果, 如上之所說。 是故有智者, 惟當念受持, 一心懷忻喜, 不應起放逸。」
佛說此經已,長老舍利弗等諸大比丘,並諸菩薩摩訶薩眾,天龍、夜叉、乾闥婆、阿修羅、迦樓羅、緊那羅、摩睺羅伽、人非人等,聞佛所說,歡喜奉行。
八吉祥經
【現代漢語翻譯】 現代漢語譯本 受到人天恭敬,供養時心生歡喜, 夜叉(一種鬼神)和非人(指天龍八部等),盜賊和刀杖, 水火毒藥等,這些畏懼都將消失, 睡覺和醒來都安穩,不會有各種惡夢。 根性銳利且有智慧,常常喜歡聽聞正法, 聽聞后產生信心,能得到深奧微妙的佛法, 口中沒有臭味,精進地為他人宣說, 眾魔和外道,沒有誰敢來擾亂。 女人聽聞佛的名號,憶持併爲他人宣說, 就能結束這女人的果報,後世不再受女身。 誦持併爲他人宣說,八佛的名號, 就能得到各種功德果報,就像上面所說的那樣。 所以有智慧的人,應當一心念誦受持, 心中充滿歡喜,不應該放縱懈怠。
佛陀說完這部經后,長老舍利弗(佛陀十大弟子之一)等各位大比丘,以及諸位菩薩摩訶薩(大菩薩),天龍、夜叉(一種鬼神)、乾闥婆(天上的樂神)、阿修羅(一種好戰的神)、迦樓羅(一種大鵬鳥神)、緊那羅(天上的歌神)、摩睺羅伽(一種大蟒神)、人非人等,聽聞佛陀所說,都歡喜地接受並實行。
《八吉祥經》
【English Translation】 English version They are revered by humans and gods, and they rejoice in offerings, Yaksha (a type of demon) and non-humans (referring to beings like the eight classes of gods and dragons), thieves and weapons, Water, fire, poison, etc., all these fears will disappear, Sleeping and waking are peaceful, and there will be no nightmares. Those with sharp faculties and wisdom, always love to hear the true Dharma, Having heard it, they generate faith, and can obtain the profound and subtle Dharma, Their breath has no foul odor, and they diligently preach it to others, All demons and heretics, none dare to disturb them. If a woman hears the Buddha's name, remembers it and speaks it to others, She will end her retribution as a woman, and will not be reborn as a woman in the next life. Reciting and speaking to others, the names of the eight Buddhas, One will obtain various meritorious fruits, as mentioned above. Therefore, those with wisdom, should single-mindedly recite and uphold it, With hearts full of joy, they should not be negligent.
After the Buddha finished speaking this sutra, the elder Shariputra (one of the Buddha's ten great disciples) and other great Bhikkhus, as well as all the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas (great Bodhisattvas), Devas, Nagas, Yakshas (a type of demon), Gandharvas (celestial musicians), Asuras (a type of warring god), Garudas (a type of large bird god), Kinnaras (celestial singers), Mahoragas (a type of great serpent god), humans and non-humans, having heard what the Buddha said, all joyfully accepted and practiced it.
