如是我聞:

一時,佛在羅閱祇耆阇崛山中,與大比丘眾千二百五十人、菩薩五千人俱。

爾時,世尊與無央數百千人,前後圍繞而為說經。

時大會中有一大士,名離垢蓋,承佛威神,即從座起,偏袒右肩,右膝著地,叉手合掌,前白佛言:「今可現有諸佛世尊如來、至真、等正覺,若有善男子、善女人求佛道者,聞其名號受持讀誦,疾得不退轉于無上正真道?」

佛告離垢蓋太士:「善哉!善哉!族姓子乃能作是問,多所利益。

「有,族姓子!東方去此度一恒沙數諸佛世界,有世界名方莊嚴,其剎有佛,名大光耀如來、至真、等正覺,今現在說法。

「復有,族姓子!東方度二恒沙數諸佛世界,有世界名諦勝諸勝,其剎有佛,名慧燈明如來。有世界名金剛,其剎有佛,名大雄如來。有世界名凈尊住,其剎有佛,名無垢塵如來。有世界名金光明,其剎有佛,名上像幢十蓋王如來。有世界名大威神,其剎有佛,名威神自在王如來。有世界名香薰,其剎有佛,名極受上影王如來。有世界名寶嚴,其剎有佛,名內寶如來。有世界名海燈明

【English Translation】 English version Thus have I heard: At one time, the Buddha was in Mount Gṛdhrakūṭa (Vulture Peak) in Rāmagṛha (Rajgir), together with a great assembly of twelve hundred and fifty Bhikṣus (monks) and five thousand Bodhisattvas. At that time, the World Honored One was surrounded by countless hundreds and thousands of people, and was expounding the Dharma to them. Then, in that great assembly, there was a great being named Vimalāvaraṇa (Free from Defilement), who, by the power of the Buddha, rose from his seat, bared his right shoulder, knelt on his right knee, joined his palms, and said to the Buddha: 『Are there now any Buddhas, World Honored Ones, Tathāgatas, Arhats, Samyaksaṃbuddhas, who, if good men or good women seeking the path of Buddhahood hear their names, uphold them, and recite them, will quickly attain non-retrogression on the unsurpassed, true path?』 The Buddha said to the great being Vimalāvaraṇa: 『Excellent! Excellent! Kulasūtra (Son of a Noble Family), you are able to ask such a question, which is of great benefit.』 『Yes, Kulasūtra! Passing beyond one Ganges river of Buddha-worlds to the east, there is a world named Vyuha-vyūha (Arrayed Array), in that Buddha-land there is a Buddha named Mahāprabhāsa Tathāgata (Great Light Radiance), Arhat, Samyaksaṃbuddha, who is now expounding the Dharma. 『Furthermore, Kulasūtra! Passing beyond two Ganges rivers of Buddha-worlds to the east, there is a world named Satyottara-viśiṣṭa (Truth Supreme Victory), in that Buddha-land there is a Buddha named Jñānapradīpa Tathāgata (Wisdom Lamp Light). There is a world named Vajra (Diamond), in that Buddha-land there is a Buddha named Mahāvīra Tathāgata (Great Hero). There is a world named Śuddha-pratiṣṭha (Pure Abode), in that Buddha-land there is a Buddha named Vimala-rajas Tathāgata (Immaculate Dust). There is a world named Suvarṇa-prabhāsa (Golden Light), in that Buddha-land there is a Buddha named Uttama-dhvaja-daśacchattra-rāja Tathāgata (Supreme Banner Ten Canopy King). There is a world named Mahātejas (Great Power), in that Buddha-land there is a Buddha named Tejas-svāmin-rāja Tathāgata (Power Lord King). There is a world named Sugandha-dhūpa (Fragrant Incense), in that Buddha-land there is a Buddha named Paramā-pratirūpa-rāja Tathāgata (Supreme Image King). There is a world named Ratna-vyūha (Jewel Array), in that Buddha-land there is a Buddha named Antar-ratna Tathāgata (Inner Jewel). There is a world named Sāgara-pradīpa (Ocean Lamp)


,其剎有佛,名大海如來。有世界名十力燈明,其剎有佛,名十力現如來。當知,離垢蓋!若善男子、善女人求佛道者,恒邊沙剎滿中七寶持用佈施如來、正覺,若善男子、善女人,聞此佛名受持諷誦執在心懷,于大眾中為人廣說,此之功德過前功德。」

重欲解義,而說偈言:

「如恒邊沙,  諸佛世界,  滿中七寶,  持用佈施,  若有得聞,  諸佛名號,  信樂不忘,  功德過前。

「若聞諸佛名,  諷誦莫忘失,  其人不宜疑,  言我不成佛。  六通無窮盡,  至於無數劫,  其身當金色,  相好以莊嚴。  若持佛名號,  過於十億劫,  疾得成正覺。」

佛說經竟,離垢蓋大士、諸菩薩等,天龍、鬼神及世間人,咸皆歡喜頂受佛教。

【English Translation】 English version 'In that Buddha-land, there is a Buddha named Mahasamudra Tathagata (Great Ocean Thus Come One). There is a world named Dashabala-prabha (Ten Powers Light), and in that Buddha-land, there is a Buddha named Dashabala-darshana Tathagata (Ten Powers Manifest Thus Come One). Know this, Vimala-prabha (Immaculate Light)! If a good man or good woman seeks the path of Buddhahood, and uses seven treasures filling Buddha-lands as numerous as the sands of the Ganges to make offerings to the Tathagata, the Perfectly Enlightened One, if a good man or good woman hears these Buddhas' names, receives, recites, and keeps them in mind, and widely proclaims them to others in the assembly, this merit surpasses the previous merit.' To further explain the meaning, the Buddha spoke in verses: 'Like the sands of the Ganges, in all Buddha-worlds, filled with seven treasures, used for offerings, if one hears, the names of the Buddhas, believes, rejoices, and does not forget, the merit surpasses the previous. 'If one hears the names of the Buddhas, recites them without forgetting, that person should not doubt, saying, 'I cannot become a Buddha.' The six supernormal powers will be inexhaustible, until countless kalpas, their body will be golden, adorned with excellent marks. If one upholds the Buddhas' names, for more than ten billion kalpas, one will quickly attain perfect enlightenment.' After the Buddha finished speaking this sutra, the great being Vimala-prabha, the Bodhisattvas, the gods, dragons, spirits, and the people of the world, all joyfully received and practiced the Buddha's teachings.
