聞如是:

一時,佛游維耶離獼猴水邊交路精舍,與大比丘眾俱,比丘六萬皆阿羅漢;菩薩三十億悉一生補處,慈氏菩薩等二生補處、三生補處,四生、五生、十生補處,十八生、二十生、三十生、四十生補處,五十生、百生補處,舉要言之,上至千生而補佛處;有九十億諸天之眾,欲行天人、色行天子、四天王天、帝釋梵天王、須深天子、月光天子、日光天子、勝英天子、作樂天子,此諸天子及余天人九十九億;無勞龍王、沙竭龍王,和倫龍王、摩奈斯龍王、難頭和難祇龍王、文鄰龍王、大悅龍王;燕居阿須倫王,與諸阿須倫民皆來集會,稽首佛足分部而坐。

爾時,維耶離大城中,師子將軍,有子號無量力。時無量力有童子仁賢,號曰寶網,曾已供養不可稱計百千諸佛,為無量世之大庭燎執持法教,厥年八歲。時適寢寐,于夢中見兜率天人從天宮下,宣揚其香音,而嘆頌曰:

「佛身現在導眾生,  其光照曜三千界,  顏容殊妙曠無厭,  體色紫金百福會。  若干月光加億數,  不比精明聖智容,  其殿現光巨垓數,  令斯月宮遍東方。

【English Translation】 English version Thus have I heard: At one time, the Buddha was traveling in Vaisali, at the Markata-hrada-tirtha (Monkey Water Crossing) in the Jeta Grove, together with a large assembly of monks. There were 60,000 monks, all of whom were Arhats; there were 3 billion Bodhisattvas, all of whom were Eka-jati-pratibaddha (bound to one more birth, referring to Bodhisattvas who will become Buddhas in their next life). Among them were Maitreya Bodhisattva and others who were bound to two more births, three more births, and so on, up to four, five, ten, eighteen, twenty, thirty, forty, fifty, and one hundred more births. In short, there were those bound to up to a thousand more births before becoming Buddhas. There were also 9 billion celestial beings, including those from the desire realm, the form realm, the Caturmaharajika (Four Heavenly Kings), Indra, Brahma, Susima, Candraprabha (Moonlight), Suryaprabha (Sunlight), Uttamavirya, and Nartana. These celestial beings and others totaled 9.9 billion. There were also the dragon kings Anavatapta, Sagara, Varuna, Manasvin, Nanda-upananda, Valin, and Mahaharsa. Vemacitrin, the Asura king, along with his Asura people, all came to the Buddha, bowed at his feet, and sat down in their respective groups. At that time, in the great city of Vaisali, General Simha-senapati had a son named Amitabala. Amitabala had a young boy named Renxian, known as Ratnajala (Jewel Net). He had previously made offerings to countless hundreds of thousands of Buddhas and had upheld the Dharma teachings as a great torch in countless lifetimes. At that time, he was only eight years old. While he was sleeping, he saw in a dream celestial beings from Tusita heaven descending from their palaces, proclaiming their fragrant sounds, and praising him with these verses: 'The Buddha's body is now guiding sentient beings, its light illuminates the three thousand great thousand worlds. His countenance is exquisite, never tiring to behold, his body is the color of purple gold, possessing the marks of a hundred blessings. Even if the light of countless moons were combined, it would not compare to the bright, sacred wisdom of the Buddha. The light emanating from the Buddha's palace is immeasurable, causing the light of the moon palace to spread throughout the east.'


南方如是西亦然,  造宮北方為若茲,  如是諸殿照巨億,  其數各如江河沙。  無比世護諸毛孔,  所演光明曜巍巍,  能仁一一諸相好,  所出暉曜照無量。  一一導師所奮威,  以用開化諸眾生,  猶復越于江河數,  普能現說三十六。」

於是童子寶網,于夜夢覺,啟白其父:「夜諸天人下兜術宮,以偈相語而歌頌曰,贊佛功德。今欲求索,緣見自歸如來至真。」

童子寶網因時以頌,而讚歎曰:

「開寤眾生善導師,  無念世父志廣大,  大人當知供養佛,  導師興世甚希有。  如靈瑞花難可遇,  其色煌煌軟微妙,  香氣流佈無耗損,  如是尊花難得值。  我身今日,  啟于大人,  愿以相施,  歡喜之心,  其從世護,  光明之教。  常當奉敬,  現真諦慧。」  其無量力,  懷歡悅心,  尋時即告,  犁車童子、  師子將軍:  「供養大聖,  童子我往,  惟從命耳!  若種六億,  修精進業,  供養導師,  于釋師子,  慇勤自歸。」  最上尊勢,  皆隨天帝,  其眼有千;  又梵天王,  尊位自在;  其導師者,  天魔之子,  與諸天子,  那術億數,  一切皆樂,

【English Translation】 English version The south is like this, and so is the west, the palaces built in the north are also like this. Like this, countless palaces shine, their number as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River. The incomparable protector of the world (referring to the Buddha), from each pore of his body, emits light that is incomparably magnificent. Each of the auspicious marks of the Sage (referring to the Buddha), emits radiance that illuminates immeasurable worlds. Each guide (referring to the Buddha) manifests his power, to enlighten all sentient beings, Their number even surpasses the sands of the Ganges, universally proclaiming thirty-six teachings.

Then, the boy Baowang (Precious Net) awoke from his night dream and reported to his father: 'At night, the devas descended from Tusita Palace (Tusita, one of the heavens in the desire realm), conversing with each other in verses, praising the merits of the Buddha. Now I wish to seek, and because of seeing the Buddha, take refuge in the Tathagata, the ultimate truth.'

The boy Baowang then praised with verses: 'The good guide who awakens the wisdom of sentient beings, the non-thinking father of the world (referring to the Buddha) has a vast aspiration, The great one should know to make offerings to the Buddha, the guide's appearance in the world is very rare. Like a rare auspicious flower that is hard to encounter, its color is bright, soft, and subtle, Its fragrance spreads without diminishing, such a noble flower is hard to find. Today, I report to the great one, hoping you will allow me, With a joyful heart, to receive the luminous teachings from the protector of the world (referring to the Buddha). I will always revere and respect, manifesting the wisdom of the true meaning.' He possessed immeasurable power, with a joyful heart, immediately told the boy Liche (Plow Cart), General Shizi (Lion): 'To make offerings to the Great Sage (referring to the Buddha), I, the boy, will go, Everything will follow your command! If I can plant six hundred million good roots, cultivate diligent deeds, Make offerings to the guide (referring to the Buddha), and diligently take refuge in the Shakya Lion (referring to the Buddha).' The most noble and powerful ones, all followed the Deva King (Indra), who has a thousand eyes; Also, the Brahma King (Brahma), noble and free; their guide (referring to the Buddha), The son of the Mara, with the devas, their number reaching countless nayutas, All felt joy,


游維耶離。  床榻具足,  滿億千數,  紫磨金色,  像明月珠,  七寶挍成,  亦甚巍巍,  一一分部,  其數億千。  床悉如是,  布在右面,  跱立幡幢,  常為歡樂。  一一床座,  具足微妙,  其幢超絕,  有億殊勝,  諸幢幡者,  各在左右。  于閣如是,  眾好最勝,  明月珠寶,  卓然周遍,  一一寶珠,  其價億數,  而以垂挍。  于諸幢幡,  跱豎立之,  上法甚高,  其幡丁尾,  紫金交絡。  其幡如是,  不離黃金。  諸樹皆悉,  滿億眾千,  眾座安然,  羅在後面。  其此諸座,  堅固殊勝,  所設安定,  猶如門閫。  其床榻上,  寶蓋光晃,  紫磨金色,  周匝垂幡。  白銀琉璃,  水精亦然,  車𤦲之胎,  及與馬瑙,  阿文珍藏,  並及真珠,  其赤栴檀,  若干種寶,  一一在前,  具足百千,  交路周匝,  莊飾寶蓋。  其于地上,  亦設微帳,  以上妙金,  而合成之,  水精琉璃,  白銀如珍,  成就車𤦲,  及以馬瑙。  在於地上,  一一施設,  一一寶瓶,  究竟百千。  燒香滿中,  以為供養,  奉上

These beds were inlaid with seven treasures, extremely majestic and grand, each part clearly divided, also numbering in the hundreds of millions. All the beds were so exquisite, arranged on the right side, with banners and streamers erected, creating a joyful atmosphere. Each seat was endowed with subtle qualities, and the banners above them were even more extraordinary, possessing hundreds of millions of unique virtues. Various banners and streamers were erected on the left and right sides. The pavilions were also like this, everything was supremely beautiful. Bright moon pearls shone radiantly, spreading all around, each pearl was priceless, and used for hanging decorations. On these banners and streamers, tall Dharma banners were erected, the ends of the banners were interwoven with purple gold. These banners were closely connected with gold. Various trees also numbered in the hundreds of millions, and numerous seats were arranged securely behind them. These seats were firm and extraordinary, set up very stably, like thresholds. Above the beds, the canopies shone brightly, with a purple-gold luster, and banners and streamers hung all around. Silver, lapis lazuli, crystal, the matrix of carnelian (車𤦲), agate, Awen (阿文) treasures, and pearls, as well as red sandalwood, all kinds of treasures, Each kind was placed in front in hundreds and thousands, crisscrossing and surrounding, decorating the canopies. On the ground, exquisite curtains were also set up, made of the finest gold, and decorated with precious materials such as crystal, lapis lazuli, and silver, as well as carnelian and agate. On the ground, every place was carefully arranged, and each treasure vase numbered in the hundreds of thousands. The vases were filled with burning incense, used for offerings, dedicated to the Buddha.

於是童子寶網,出維耶離大城,行詣佛所。恭肅敬意,稽首足下,還坐一面。

佛知其意,則隨時宜,所應當解,而為說法,欣然大悅。童子寶網見佛勸助開化說法,益以踴躍,即從坐起,偏出右肩,右膝著地,和顏悅色,前白佛言:「唯愿世尊垂愍,明日受請及與聖眾。」

佛已受請,默然不應,許可童子。於時,佛愍

Counting those treasure necklaces (a type of jewelry decoration), there were countless billions of 'gai' (an extremely large unit of quantity), Each one was connected with purple gold (purple-colored gold) as the rope. If someone came to see, They would find it very beautiful. The people of various countries, the people of the city of Vaisali, From the bottom up, at a height of forty-nine feet, the city of Vaisali, Was covered with clothes, and perfumed with red sandalwood incense (a precious fragrance). Immediately he set out, came out of the city gate, and went to the most excellent, Place where the Great Sage (referring to the Buddha) was, bowed at the Buddha's feet, and took refuge in the ocean of the Buddha's merits. The boy then retreated and stood to one side.

Then the boy Ratna-jala, went out of the great city of Vaisali, and went to where the Buddha was. Respectfully bowing, he prostrated at the Buddha's feet, and then sat down to one side.

The Buddha knew his intention, and according to the situation at the time, and the principles he should understand, spoke the Dharma for him, making him very happy. The boy Ratna-jala, seeing the Buddha encouraging and enlightening him with the Dharma, became even more joyful and excited, immediately stood up from his seat, exposed his right shoulder, knelt on his right knee, with a joyful expression, and said to the Buddha: 'May the World Honored One have compassion, and accept my invitation tomorrow, along with the Holy Assembly (referring to the Sangha).'

The Buddha had already accepted the invitation, remaining silent, indicating his permission to the boy's request. At this time, the Buddha, with compassion


哀寶網;寶網見佛默然,便從坐起,繞佛三匝,作禮而去。

童子寶網與天帝釋梵跡天王、須深天子入維耶離城,施百味饌,奉若干品種種美食,即于夜時辦諸座具,莊嚴校飾維耶離城,懸諸幢幡散花燒香。所設已辦,往詣佛所,稽首足下,卻住一面,叉手白佛:「大聖見愍,時至食辦,從尊所宜。」

時佛明旦著衣持缽,與無央百千聖眾,上虛空中,去地四丈九尺,神足經行,欲得前入維耶離城。

適欲入城,如來應時六反震動,三千大千諸佛世界,顯現十八無數億垓百千眾變。到維耶離,時無央數億百千垓諸天悉來,雨諸天花青蓮,諸紅、黃、白眾花,諸天意花,蜜花香、末香、雜香,持其明月珠雜紫磨金,眾珍琦異七寶天華,奉散佛上同音歌頌,鼓無央數億百千垓伎樂樂佛,空中雷音徹聞十方,雨天栴檀,眾寶瓔珞校飾上下。盲者得目,聾者得聽,啞者能言,病者得愈,跛者能行,狂者得正,亂者得定,僂者得申,其被毒者毒皆消歇。箜篌樂器不鼓自鳴,婦女珠環相掁玲玲,飛鳥禽獸相和悲鳴,眾人集觀莫不喜驚。

於時世尊適已入城,諸天于上下諸寶蓋執在虛空,佛即往到童子寶網家前坐其舍,與四部眾比丘、比丘尼、清信士女,悉在其中,次第而坐。

Their forms are upright, their appearances are unparalleled, their wealth is boundless, their precepts are without flaw, their wisdom is complete, they can know their past lives, they harbor no greed or jealousy, they have no delusions, they are always peaceful and harmonious wherever they are, they are companions with all Bodhisattvas, they are far from all Shravakas (Hearers), and they can receive the merits that are spoken of. These merits are immeasurable, billions of hundreds of thousands of nayutas, revered by all Buddhas, the Rightly Enlightened Ones, they can satisfy the long-standing hunger and thirst of sentient beings, they startle all demons into submission, they cultivate and adorn the pure Buddha lands, they remove the defilements of sentient beings' minds, they proclaim the pure Dharma, all the gods and spirits protect them, the great Bodhisattvas all think of them, they are established by the Tathagata, the True One, they have never been far from all the Buddhas, the World Honored Ones, and they fully understand the practices of all Bodhisattvas, they possess all eighty-four thousand kinds of activities, and their voices are like thunder.'

Sons and daughters of good families who study the Bodhisattva path (the practice of Mahayana Buddhism), hearing the name of that Buddha without doubt, believing that the Buddha's wisdom eye (the wisdom of a Buddha) can hear this name, the place where they are born will become a 'Wheel-Turning King' (an ideal ruler of the world). If a Buddha appears in the world, they will often meet the Buddha, see countless Buddhas, the Truthful Ones (a title of a Buddha), and make offerings to them, purely practice 'Brahma conduct' (pure conduct), obtain supernatural powers, move freely, have mastery of 'Dharani' (memory and understanding of Buddhist teachings), be able to see the Tathagata (a title of a Buddha), see as many equal and perfect enlightenments (the wisdom of a Buddha) as the sands of the Ganges River, abandon birth and death, surpass as many eons (extremely long units of time) as the sands of the Ganges River, their hearts are always peaceful, never forgetting, constantly aspiring to the unsurpassed and true path (the teachings of the Buddha), without dust, not approaching the dust of the world, therefore obtaining freedom, their bodies are as firm as hooks and chains, staying in one place they possess the four necessities (clothing, food, shelter, and medicine), their bodies are like purple gold, adorned with the thirty-two marks of a great man (physical characteristics of a Buddha), obtaining the eight kinds of sounds (the voice of a Buddha) like Brahma, abandoning the eight difficulties (eight obstacles to practicing Buddhism), and always obtaining peace and quiet. At that time, the World Honored One, having observed this meaning, then spoke in verse: 'Those who hear the name of 'World Roar' (a title of a Buddha), do not harbor doubt in their hearts, Firmly believing in the light of the Buddha's teachings, they are truly blessed. They will often become Wheel-Turning Kings, always encountering Buddhas, When the time is right, they will make offerings, in immeasurable and inconceivable numbers. Constantly following the practice of Brahma conduct, with supernatural powers they walk alone, Holding and turning all Dharani, they are able to see the path of the Buddhas. They are always able to see the Buddhas, as many as the sands of the Ganges River, Surpassing all births and deaths, even billions of eons are like a few. Because they aspire to the Buddha's path, their hearts have never forgotten, Proclaiming the name of 'World Roar', they ask for it to be spread to the masses. They will achieve the status of a Wheel-Turning Sage King, standing in one place freely, Their bodies will appear as purple gold, possessing the thirty-two marks of excellence.'


若有聞佛號,  聲音喻梵天,  棄捐八難處,  五體歸禮敬。  不障塞佛道,  未曾懷瞋恨,  其聞佛名者,  不懷猶豫故。  若奉最勝號,  夙夜具七日,  彼眼致清凈,  逮見無量佛,  未舍于肉眼,  而普見清凈,  睹無數諸佛,  猶如江河沙。」

佛告童子:「若有菩薩聞彼佛名,及與凡夫慇勤精思,而遙自歸咸能供養,悉聞十方諸佛所說,目皆睹見僉信樂之。前世宿命曾所供養無央數佛,適能得聞諸如來名,輒皆識念本所遊歷,為說往世本末名號,志所誓願見他眾生根原所從來。究竟佛道心懷悅豫,亙如日出永無塵翳,所睹極曠,棄除八難斗諍之事,其心和雅常懷閑靜。若有篤信于佛道者,和合離別未曾怵惕,正使往世犯諸罪釁,應在惡趣燒炙劫數,小遇頭痛眾殃消除。火不能災、風不能中,國主王者不能加害。聞如來名未曾生盲,目不痛瞎,不聾不啞,聞佛名故不僂不跛。諸龍、鬼神及阿須倫、餓鬼𧞣鬼、人與非人不能犯觸,諸魅、暴鬼、神龍、地祇莫不愛樂。假使執持諸佛名者,功德如是,不可稱計。」

佛於是而作頌曰:

「目皆見諸佛,  咸能供養之,  聞所說輒受,  其人僉信樂。  宿命所更歷,  供養無數佛,  適聞彼佛名,

佛陀告訴童子:『如果菩薩聽聞彼佛之名,以及凡夫勤勉精進地思索,並遙遠地歸依,都能得到供養,都能聽聞十方諸佛所說之法,親眼見到並都信受歡喜。他們前世的宿命中曾經供養過無數的佛陀,才能聽聞諸如來的名號,並且都能憶起自己曾經遊歷過的地方,為他們講述往世的本末名號,以及他們所立下的誓願,看到其他眾生的根源所從來。最終成就佛道,心中充滿喜悅,如同太陽升起,永遠沒有塵埃遮蔽,所見極其廣闊,摒棄八難和爭鬥之事,內心平和寧靜。如果有人對佛道篤信不疑,即使經歷離合也不會感到恐懼,即使往世犯下各種罪過,本應在惡道中遭受燒灼之苦,但只要稍微遇到頭痛等小病,所有的災禍都會消除。火不能傷害他們,風不能侵襲他們,國王也不能加害他們。聽聞如來名號的人不會是天生的盲人,眼睛不會疼痛失明,不會是聾子或啞巴,聽聞佛名的人不會是駝背或跛子。諸龍、鬼神以及阿修羅(Asura,一種好戰的神)、餓鬼、𧞣鬼(一種食人鬼)、人和非人等都不能侵犯他們,各種魅、暴鬼、神龍、地祇(土地神)都愛戴他們。假使有人執持諸佛的名號,其功德就是如此,不可稱量。』

佛陀於是作偈頌說:

『眼睛都能見到諸佛,都能供養他們, 聽聞他們所說的法就接受,這些人都會信受歡喜。 宿命中曾經經歷過,供養過無數的佛陀, 才能聽聞彼佛的名號,'

【English Translation】 English version If there are those who hear the Buddha's name, its sound like that of Brahma (the Hindu god of creation), they will abandon the eight difficulties (eight obstacles to practicing the Dharma), prostrate themselves with their five limbs in reverence. They will not obstruct the path of the Buddha, nor will they harbor hatred in their hearts, for those who hear the Buddha's name will not have any hesitation in their minds. If one upholds the most supreme name of the Buddha, diligently practicing day and night for seven days, their eyes will become pure, and they will be able to see countless Buddhas, even without abandoning their physical eyes, they will be able to see pure sights everywhere, seeing countless Buddhas, as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River.

The Buddha told the youth: 'If Bodhisattvas hear the name of that Buddha, and ordinary people diligently contemplate and remotely take refuge, they will all receive offerings, they will all hear the teachings of the Buddhas in the ten directions, see them with their own eyes, and all believe and rejoice. In their past lives, they have offered to countless Buddhas, and thus they are able to hear the names of the Tathagatas, and they can all remember the places they have traveled, telling them the origins and names of their past lives, as well as the vows they have made, seeing the origins of other sentient beings. They will ultimately achieve Buddhahood, their hearts filled with joy, like the rising sun, forever without dust obscuring it, their vision extremely vast, abandoning the eight difficulties and the matters of strife, their hearts peaceful and tranquil. If there are those who have unwavering faith in the Buddha's path, they will not be afraid even when experiencing separation and reunion, even if they have committed various sins in their past lives, and should have suffered burning torments in the evil realms, but as long as they encounter minor ailments such as headaches, all calamities will be eliminated. Fire cannot harm them, wind cannot invade them, and kings cannot inflict harm upon them. Those who hear the name of the Tathagata will not be born blind, their eyes will not be painful or blind, they will not be deaf or mute, and those who hear the Buddha's name will not be hunchbacked or lame. Dragons, ghosts, asuras (a type of warring god), hungry ghosts, yakshas (a type of man-eating ghost), humans, and non-humans cannot violate them, and all kinds of demons, violent ghosts, divine dragons, and earth deities all love them. If one upholds the names of the Buddhas, their merits are such that they cannot be measured.'

The Buddha then spoke in verse:

'Their eyes can see all the Buddhas, and they can all make offerings to them, They accept what they hear, and these people all believe and rejoice. In their past lives, they have experienced, and offered to countless Buddhas, Thus they can hear the name of that Buddha,'


一切悉識念,  其本之名號,  為眾人說之。  復睹他眾生,  能究竟佛道,  興發歡喜心,  棄捐諸八難,  刈去諸諍訟,  所生常閑靜。  假使信名者,  世護正真主,  其心不懷結,  雪棄憒鬧事。  設犯無擇罪,  受殃若干劫,  一時遇頭痛,  諸釁永畢除。  不為火所災,  在風不見中,  彼聞如來名,  王不能加害。  未曾為生盲,  不聾亦不啞,  其奉最勝號,  手腳不缺減。  鬼神揵沓和,  餓鬼厭惡神,  若聞如來稱,  人毒咒不行。  諸魅若羅剎,  諸天若干龍,  奉此最勝名,  皆共愛敬之。」

佛復告童子:「假使有聞彼佛名者,疾逮三昧決諸狐疑不著音響,志無所生勞勛億千。所以然者,聞佛名故。若值佛名坦然無疑,則能奉持越無數劫,其于末世信樂此法功德如是。若聞導師滅度后名,善宣法訓執持講說,若能誦懷於人中尊所演經典,修凈致尊備諸佛行,臨壽終時其心不亂,尋能睹見億垓諸佛,聞所說法皆能受持。已自修立開化眾生,聞不求短而悉化之令住佛道,其人設奉諸佛名者,為應供養諸佛大聖。並信吾身從佛之教,常自歸命,永得解脫不趣地獄。其信佛慧則歸吾身,其誹謗者是魔官屬,斯在五趣

佛陀又告訴童子:『假設有人聽到那位佛的名號,迅速獲得三昧(禪定),決斷各種狐疑,不執著于聲音和形象,心志無所生,功勞億千。之所以如此,是因為聽聞佛的名號的緣故。如果遇到佛的名號,坦然無疑,就能奉持超越無數劫,他們在末世信奉此法的功德就是這樣。如果聽到導師(佛)滅度后的名號,善於宣講佛法教誨,執持講說,如果能夠誦持人中尊(佛)所演說的經典,修持清凈,達到尊貴,具備諸佛的修行,臨終時心不散亂,立刻能夠見到億垓諸佛,聽到他們所說的法都能接受並奉持。已經自我修立,開化眾生,聽到佛法不求速成,而是全部教化他們,讓他們安住于佛道,這樣的人如果奉持諸佛的名號,就應該接受諸佛大聖的供養。並且相信我(佛)所說的教誨,常常歸命于佛,永遠得到解脫,不會墮入地獄。他們相信佛的智慧,就是歸信於我,那些誹謗佛法的人是魔的眷屬,他們將在五趣(地獄、餓鬼、畜生、人、天)中輪迴。』

And seeing other beings, able to ultimately achieve Buddhahood, Arousing a joyful heart, abandoning all eight difficulties (referring to eight obstacles to practicing Buddhism), Eliminating all disputes, the place of birth is always peaceful and quiet. Suppose someone believes in the Buddha's name, the righteous Dharma protected by the world, Their heart does not harbor any knots, like snow discarding noisy matters. Even if committing an indiscriminate sin (referring to sins without distinguishing good from evil), suffering retribution for several kalpas, Once encountering a headache, all sins will be forever eliminated. They will not suffer from fire disasters, nor be scattered in the wind, They hear the name of the Tathagata, and even the king cannot harm them. They will not be born blind, nor deaf, nor mute, They uphold the most supreme name, their hands and feet will not be deficient. Ghosts, Gandharvas (a kind of music deity), hungry ghosts, and hateful deities, If they hear the name of the Tathagata, human curses will not work. Various demons, Rakshasas (evil spirits), various heavens, and dragons, Upholding this most supreme name, they will all love and respect him.

The Buddha further told the youth: 'Suppose someone hears the name of that Buddha, they will quickly attain Samadhi (meditative concentration), resolve all doubts, not be attached to sounds and forms, their mind will be without arising, their merit will be a billion-fold. The reason for this is because of hearing the Buddha's name. If they encounter the Buddha's name, with no doubt, they can uphold it beyond countless kalpas, their merit in believing in this Dharma in the latter days is like this. If they hear the name of the guide (Buddha) after his passing, skillfully proclaim the Dharma teachings, uphold and preach them, if they can recite and cherish the scriptures spoken by the honored one among humans (Buddha), cultivate purity, attain nobility, possess the practices of all Buddhas, when approaching the end of their life, their mind will not be disturbed, they will immediately be able to see billions of Buddhas, and hear the Dharma they speak and be able to accept and uphold it. Having established themselves, they will enlighten sentient beings, hearing the Dharma without seeking quick results, but rather completely teaching them, allowing them to abide in the Buddha's path, such people, if they uphold the names of all Buddhas, should receive the offerings of all the great sages. And believe in my (Buddha's) teachings, always take refuge in the Buddha, and forever attain liberation, not falling into hell. Those who believe in the Buddha's wisdom are taking refuge in me, those who slander the Dharma are the retinue of Mara, they will be in the five realms (hell, hungry ghosts, animals, humans, heavens).'


所游眾生,世尊悉濟,令立一乘。以一毛孔,如來、至真則能演出江河沙光明,度脫眾生。」

佛於是作頌:

「不疑音聲句,  疾逮得三昧,  興暢億功勛,  聞佛名所致。  於後末世時,  奉持此經道,  聞諸世吼名,  其心不猶豫。  滅度諸正覺,  若頒宣法教,  聞眾導師名,  奉持能分別。  則為具奉行,  諸佛所演法,  能致尊嚴凈,  眾聖所應宜。  臨欲壽終時,  尋見億垓佛,  輒能皆啟受,  諸佛所說法。  已能逮立行,  並化億眾生,  所聞不虛耗,  普建諸佛道,  則為悉奉持,  一切諸佛教。  信吾真聖目,  亦供養諸佛,  歸命諸最勝,  永度諸惡趣。  其信佛慧者,  此人從吾教,  若好佛道法,  為隨大聖教;  設誹謗正法,  皆是魔官屬。  如五趣眾生,  所有體毛孔,  濟危如是數,  入之一乘道。」

佛告童子:「如來、至真以一毛孔用演江河沙等光明威神,若有信此,於一世中睹見億數諸佛世尊。若復聞此法王所說不懷結網,亦當成佛,如我今也。若復隨順講斯經典,于最後世希有信者,如江河沙數士夫世界,如此悉遍照,佛土如是無思議。設能計是一切諸數,滿中珍寶施

佛陀告訴童子:'如來、至真以一個毛孔,演化出如恒河沙數般的光明威神,如果有信受此法的人,在一世之中就能見到億萬諸佛世尊。如果又聽聞法王(佛的別稱)所說而不懷疑惑,也應當成就佛果,如同我今日一樣。如果又隨順講說這部經典,在最後世能有信受者,如恒河沙數般的士夫世界,如此悉皆遍照,佛土如此不可思議。假設能夠計算這一切數量,用充滿珍寶來佈施'

'Without doubting the sounds and words, one quickly attains Samadhi (meditative absorption), flourishing with billions of merits, which is brought about by hearing the Buddha's name. In the later, final ages, those who uphold this path of the sutra, upon hearing the names of the Buddhas' lion's roar (Buddha's powerful voice), their minds will not hesitate. When the Buddhas (Buddha, enlightened ones) have passed into Nirvana, if they proclaim the Dharma teachings, upon hearing the names of the guides (another name for Buddha), they will uphold and be able to discern. This is to fully practice the Dharma taught by all Buddhas, able to reach the noble, dignified, and pure state, which is what the sages should have. When approaching the end of their lives, they will immediately see billions of Buddhas, and will be able to receive the Dharma taught by all Buddhas. They will have already established their practice, and will have converted billions of beings, their hearing will not be in vain, and they will universally establish the path of all Buddhas. This is to fully uphold all the teachings of all Buddhas. Believe in my true holy eye, which is also to make offerings to all Buddhas, take refuge in the most supreme ones, and forever cross over the evil realms (Durgati). Those who believe in the wisdom of the Buddha, this person follows my teachings, if they love the path of the Buddha, they are following the teachings of the Great Sage; if they slander the true Dharma, they are all the retinue of Mara (demon). Like the beings of the five realms (Gati, five paths of reincarnation), all the pores of their bodies, saving such a number of beings, causing them to enter the One Vehicle path.'

The Buddha told the youth: 'The Tathagata, the Truly Enlightened One, emits light and divine power like the sands of the Ganges River from a single pore, if there are those who believe in this, in one lifetime they will see billions of Buddhas, World Honored Ones. If they also hear what the Dharma King (another name for Buddha) says without harboring doubts, they should also attain Buddhahood, just as I am today. If they also follow and speak this sutra, in the final ages there will be rare believers, like the number of worlds of men as the sands of the Ganges River, all will be illuminated, the Buddha lands are so inconceivable. Suppose one could count all these numbers, and give offerings filled with treasures'


于如來,加聞佛名心懷欣豫,當逮此慧不可思議。數數思念諸導師尊,其功德福不可稱計。又佛光明照於十方,其身巍巍如寶合成。加聞佛名不懷狐疑,尋時逮得無所從生,口氣馥芬名香遠聞,宣持佛名其功德如是不可稱量。」

佛於是而作頌曰:

「從一毛孔中,  世吼聖威神,  演出其光明,  猶如江河沙。  假使有信此,  諸佛無量光,  一世所覺了,  逮見億載佛。  若聞斯經者,  法王所嘆詠,  省之不懷疑,  當逮如我今。  其有如應時,  聞說斯經者,  然後末世時,  為人分別說。  猶如江河沙,  贊士夫所由,  以一光明曜,  照若干佛土。  一切皆共計,  佛土無思議,  滿中紫磨金,  親自奉世護。  若聞諸佛名,  心中懷坦然,  不如嘆佛名,  是福最無限。  常能數數念,  至真等正覺,  無能嘆究暢,  計數其功德。  其身所演光,  如寶甚煌煌,  設聞諸佛名,  不造立沉吟。  逮成於法忍,  口氣香馥芬,  如天栴檀香,  悉由宣佛名。」

佛告童子寶網:「假使人聞佛身毛孔所演光明,其暉遠照開導眾生心中悅豫,在所生處得侍諸佛不離在側,亦如阿難今來侍佛,猶如子孫親里

【English Translation】 English version Regarding the Tathagata (Buddha's title), if one hears the Buddha's name and feels joy in their heart, they will attain this inconceivable wisdom. If one frequently contemplates the various teachers and honored ones, their merits and blessings are immeasurable. Moreover, the Buddha's light shines in all directions, their bodies majestic as if made of precious jewels. If one hears the Buddha's name without doubt, they will immediately attain the state of having no origin and no destination, their breath will emit a fragrant aroma that spreads far and wide. Proclaiming the Buddha's name, their merits are immeasurable. The Buddha then spoke in verse: 'From a single pore, the Lion of the World (referring to the Buddha) manifests sacred majesty and power, emitting light like the sands of the Ganges River. If one believes in this immeasurable light of all Buddhas, and awakens in one lifetime, they will see billions of Buddhas. If one hears this sutra, which is praised by the King of Dharma (referring to the Buddha), understands it without doubt, they will attain the state I am in today. If one hears the explanation of this sutra at the appropriate time, and then in the latter days, explains it to others, like the sands of the Ganges, praising the origin of the noble one (referring to the Buddha), with one ray of light illuminating countless Buddha lands. All are counted together, the Buddha lands are inconceivable, filled with purple gold, personally offered to the protector of the world (referring to the Buddha). If one hears the names of all Buddhas, and their heart is at peace, it is better to praise the Buddha's name, for this blessing is most limitless. If one can frequently contemplate the Perfectly Enlightened One (referring to the Buddha), no one can fully praise and describe, or calculate their merits. The light emitted from their bodies is as bright as jewels. If one hears the names of all Buddhas, without hesitation or doubt, they will attain the Dharma-patience (acceptance of the Dharma), their breath will emit a fragrant aroma, like the sandalwood of heaven, all because of proclaiming the Buddha's name.' The Buddha said to the youth Bao Wang: 'If someone hears the light emitted from the pores of the Buddha's body, its radiance shining far and wide, guiding beings to joy in their hearts, in the place where they are born, they will be able to serve the Buddhas, not leaving their side, just as Ananda now serves the Buddha, like children close to their elders.'


骨肉。奉行佛道以見世明,歡喜無量所致,恭恪不可稱限。見諸佛已,具足奉事,獲福如是。孰聞佛名而不敬承?惟魔官屬迷惑外道能不信耳。童子!適見佛尋自歸命是經法者,末世歸之。執在身手,心思口誦,曾見過佛說是尊經義,能慇勤供養者,斯經卷歸彼人,自然在手。法王所詠、所建立,誓願至誠,後世必獲。若以一心奉無數佛,不如信此經典之要,福不可量,勝供諸佛,容貌端正勇猛無畏,功德殊異,財富無數,志意堅強,三十二相莊嚴吉祥莫不宣暢。」

Only the retinue of the demon king and the deluded heretics will not believe. O son! If someone immediately takes refuge in the Dharma upon seeing the Buddha, then in the Dharma-ending age, the Dharma will also belong to him. If someone holds the sutra in their hands, contemplates it in their mind, recites it with their mouth, has seen the Buddha expound this venerable sutra, and can diligently make offerings to it, then this sutra will naturally belong to this person, naturally come into their hands. 'All the pores of the Buddha's body, if someone hears, the Buddha's name and light, can guide and transform sentient beings. In every place of birth, they will always be the Buddha's attendant, just like Ananda (one of the Buddha's ten great disciples) served me, hearing the Dharma and immediately accepting and upholding it. For the sake of children or relatives, practicing the Bodhisattva path, one should see the light of the world, and the joy will be immeasurable. Being able to see the most supreme taste of the Dharma, the love and respect are immeasurable, being able to completely serve the Buddha, one will always obtain subtle wisdom. Who hears the name of the guide (referring to the Buddha) and does not respectfully accept it? Only the retinue of the demon king, and the heretics do not sincerely believe. The son of the elder, Bao Wang (a name), upon seeing the Buddha, immediately made offerings, and then in the Dharma-ending age, the Dharma will belong to him. The Buddha told the youth: 'If a son or daughter of a good family, upon hearing this sutra now, in the future, the end of the Dharma age, encounters this Dharma, upholds, chants, recites, and explains it to others, they will see the Dharma wheels turned by hundreds of thousands of Buddhas and will offer to them all. Then, in the end of the Dharma age, they will not doubt the path of the Buddha, because in their past lives they have served countless Buddhas, and upon hearing the names of the Buddhas, they will have firm faith and clear understanding, protect the true Dharma, follow the teachings of the Buddhas, and upon hearing their names, they will create Buddha images. Those who encounter this sutra in the future should not doubt and disbelieve the wisdom of the Buddha, but should diligently offer incense, flowers, and various fragrances, present clothing, and learn respectfully from those who have heard this sutra, so that they may be peaceful and orderly. The youth, Jewel Net, offered food and clothing to the Tathagata, the Truthful One, and his mind did not leave him. After the Buddha's passing, the gods and spirits will dwell in the sky and rain down heavenly flowers to make offerings to those who have heard this sutra, who love and rejoice in it, and whose minds are without hesitation.'

The Buddha then spoke in verse:

'If in the future, the end of the Dharma age, One can hear this sutra, Uphold and chant it, and explain it to others, They will make offerings to hundreds of thousands of Buddhas, and those who turn the Dharma wheel. However, in the future, the end of the Dharma age, not doubting the Buddha's teachings, In countless kalpas of the past, they have served the protectors of the world. If there are those who hear the names of these Buddhas, Believe and rejoice in the true Dharma, and follow the teachings of the Buddhas, Those who hear this sutra should create Buddha images. 以故說斯義。  無得懷猶豫,  疑佛無上慧,  名香種種花,  雜香好衣服,  聞如是經卷,  當慇勤供養。  安和諸飲食,  其童子寶網,  柔軟妙供具,  數奉上如來。  爾時諸天人,  謦揚大音聲,  諸天雨眾花,  遙散聞此經。」

佛告童子寶網:「此經典者多所安隱,猶如困疾值得良醫療治其病,風寒熱氣無不除愈。菩薩如是,聞彼佛名慇勤精進,淫怒癡病皆得消盡。」

時,無央數諸天人眾,來集空中雨栴檀香,梵天億數及與童子,聞此經名並如來號,歡喜踴躍善心生焉。口所宣說,咨嗟無上:「我等末世當爲比丘,志強無畏,當以此經在於郡國、城郭、縣邑頒宣斯經當隨佛教。假使遠在億百千里,當往啟受,不以迥邈而為患難。當請諸天人、龍神、阿須倫、健沓和、加留羅、真陀羅、摩睺勒、人非人等,為說經義飽滿道法。」

With peaceful food and drink, and the jeweled net of the boy Jewel Net (a Bodhisattva's name), With soft and exquisite offerings, repeatedly present them to the Tathagata (an epithet of the Buddha). At that time, the devas and humans, raised their voices loudly, The devas rained down various flowers, scattering them afar, hearing this scripture.

The Buddha said to the boy Jewel Net: 'This scripture brings much peace and security, like a sick person who receives a good doctor to cure their illness, eliminating wind, cold, and heat. Bodhisattvas are the same; upon hearing the Buddha's name, they diligently advance, and the illnesses of lust, anger, and ignorance are all extinguished.'

At that time, countless devas and humans gathered in the sky, raining down sandalwood incense. Countless Brahmas (lord of the form realm) and the boy, upon hearing the name of this scripture and the Tathagata's name, rejoiced and were filled with good intentions. They proclaimed with their mouths, praising the supreme: 'In the future, we shall become Bhikkhus (Buddhist monks), with strong and fearless wills. We shall proclaim this scripture in districts, cities, and towns, following the Buddha's teachings. Even if we are millions of miles away, we shall go to receive it, not considering the distance a hardship. We shall invite devas, dragons, Asuras (demigods), Gandharvas (celestial musicians), Garudas (mythical birds), Kinnaras (celestial musicians), Mahoragas (serpent deities), humans, and non-humans, to explain the meaning of the scriptures to them, filling them with the Dharma.'

The devas rejoiced, scattering flowers in the sky, which fell like rain. They each praised, saying: 'The Dharma King (an epithet of the Buddha) proclaims throughout the Buddha lands with one voice, to reveal the unconditioned (Nirvana) and to have compassion for sentient beings. It pervades the Buddha lands like the sands of the Ganges River, and it is the same in the ten directions. The boy Jewel Net covers all the Buddha lands. If one sees the Great Hero (an epithet of the Buddha), one will not be lazy. The World Honored One (an epithet of the Buddha) looks upon us, explaining it separately for us. Do not doubt the Buddha's Dharma; the Tathagata is immeasurable. The Buddha's eyes are limitless, universally bestowing peace and security. The Buddha's wisdom is boundless, understanding the three times, all-knowing, the king of all dharmas. The five skandhas (form, feeling, perception, mental formations, consciousness) of the cycle of existence have no solidity, and the four elements (earth, water, fire, wind) are the same. Do not be attached to sounds, form, the feeling skandha, perception, or birth and death.'


陰,曉了是者知無有要也,其有思惟如來所說,疾得總持志不迷荒,諸法本凈空無吾我,無所悕望無有疇疋,如來如是。」

於是而作頌曰:

Then, they composed a verse saying: 'Countless gods, billions in number, dwell in the void, they scatter sandalwood incense (a precious fragrance), for billions of years, and the fragrance of Brahma also spreads. Hearing this 'Jewel Net Sutra,' they praise and urge the Tathagata, their hearts filled with joy, and their mouths proclaim the supreme truth. I will, in the future degenerate age, become a courageous Bhikkhu (Buddhist monk), and go to cities and villages to preach this sutra to the people. I will diligently follow the teachings of Buddhism, attain equal enlightenment, and receive auspiciousness. Therefore, I will go to places billions of yojanas (an ancient Indian unit of length) away to proclaim these teachings. I will invite gods, humans, dragons, Gandharvas (a type of deity), and all humans and non-humans, to satisfy them with the Dharma. The gods and people are all joyful, their hearts are peaceful and tranquil, they scatter various flowers, and praise in unison. The light of the Dharma shines universally on the lands of all Buddhas, this is the realm of the Dharma King. The light emitted from a single hair of Shakyamuni Buddha (Shishi Ren Zun) can illuminate everything. He guides people to generate compassion. The World Honored One extends his tongue, covering billions of Buddha lands, like the sands of the Ganges River. The ten directions are also like this, each illuminating billions of Buddha lands. The changes produced by the four great elements (earth, water, fire, and wind), do not be attached to sounds and images. One should understand the form skandha (material phenomena), as well as pain, itching, various thoughts, and ideas.'


生死猗眾識,  無有真要者。  別五陰如是,  順如如來命,  速得逮總持,  心未曾忽忘。  諸法皆本凈,  虛無無吾我,  無諍無所念,  此從如來教。」』」

佛告童子:「南方去此如前譬喻,過倍此數一切諸塵,更復越彼七十二億百千垓不可計會諸佛剎土計倍,復有世界名雜種寶錦,彼有佛,名樹根花王,現在說法。若族姓子及族姓女,聞彼佛名為如來、至真、等正覺、明行成為、善逝、世間解、無上士、道法御、天人師、佛、世尊,所演經法初中竟善。

「若族姓子及族姓女,聞彼佛名,不懷疑結信吾道眼,則于現世至德具足逮受五法。何謂為五?一曰、盡除吾我,所生之處常值佛世;二曰、獲極尊勢轉輪聖王;三曰、逮總持法執御經典誠信百千;四曰、成三十二大人之相,至得佛道眾行備悉;五曰、逮得五通無所蔽礙。是為五。

「復有五事逮得神通。何謂為五?一曰、徹視,見於十方粗細大小,學無學聲聞緣覺,上至世尊與眾超越;二曰、耳能徹聽,聞萬億地獄餓鬼燒炙、飢渴,畜生之惱,天上世間安隱苦樂,或惡或好,十方諸佛所說經典,皆悉聞之;三曰、身能飛行遍諸佛國,如日現水,雖現往來而無周旋;四曰、能知一切眾生心念善惡好醜,有志無志有漏

Discern the five skandhas (form, feeling, perception, mental formations, consciousness) in this way, and follow the Tathagata's (Thus Gone One) teachings, Quickly attain dharani (total retention), with no forgetting in the mind. All dharmas (phenomena) are originally pure, empty, and without self, Without contention, without attachment, this comes from the Tathagata's teachings.

The Buddha told the youth: 'Going south from here, like the previous analogy, surpassing all those dust particles, and further beyond seventy-two billion hundred thousand 'gai' (an extremely large number) of incalculable Buddha lands, there is a world named 'Various Treasure Brocade'. There is a Buddha there named Tree Root Flower King (Buddha's name), who is now teaching the Dharma. If a son or daughter of good family hears the name of that Buddha, as Tathagata (Thus Gone One), Arhat (Worthy One), Samyaksambuddha (Perfectly Enlightened One), Vidyacharana-sampanna (Perfect in Knowledge and Conduct), Sugata (Well-Gone), Lokavid (Knower of the World), Anuttara-purusa-damya-sarathi (Unsurpassed Trainer of Those Who Can Be Tamed), Shasta deva-manushyanam (Teacher of Gods and Humans), Buddha (Enlightened One), Bhagavan (Blessed One), whose teachings are good in the beginning, middle, and end.

If a son or daughter of good family hears the name of that Buddha, without doubt, believing in my eye of the Dharma, then in this very life, they will attain supreme virtue and possess five merits. What are the five? First, they will completely eliminate self-attachment, and in every birth, they will always encounter a Buddha's appearance in the world; second, they will obtain the most honored position, becoming a Chakravartin (Wheel-Turning King); third, they will attain dharani, holding the scriptures, with faith in the hundreds and thousands; fourth, they will achieve the thirty-two marks of a great man, and ultimately attain Buddhahood, with all practices perfected; fifth, they will attain the five supernormal powers, without any obstruction. These are the five merits.

There are also five things by which one can attain supernormal powers. What are the five? First, the divine eye, able to see the coarse and fine, large and small, in the ten directions, the shravakas (hearers) and pratyekabuddhas (solitary realizers), both with and without learning, up to the World Honored One and the assembly, all surpassing; second, the divine ear, able to hear the burning and thirst of billions of hell beings and hungry ghosts, the suffering of animals, the peace and happiness of the heavens and the world, both good and bad, and the scriptures spoken by the Buddhas in the ten directions; third, the power of spiritual travel, able to fly throughout the Buddha lands, like the sun appearing in water, though appearing to come and go, there is no actual movement; fourth, the ability to know the minds of all beings, their good and bad, beautiful and ugly thoughts, whether they have intention or not, whether they are defiled or not; fifth, the ability to know past lives, knowing the causes and conditions of oneself and all beings in past lives.


無漏,有心無心慕俗樂道,而悉知之;五曰、自知宿命,並見眾生無數劫事古世所生,過去當來今現在事,靡所不通悉識念之。」

佛告童子:「西方去此過於前喻三倍塵數,復越彼剎十二阿僧祇百千億垓佛土,有世界名勝月明,其佛號造王神通㷿花如來、至真、等正覺、明行成為、善逝、世間解、無上士、道法御、天人師、佛、世尊,現在說法。若族姓子及族姓女學菩薩乘,聞彼佛名,不懷狐疑篤信于道,自所宣說所生之處,致演光明三昧正定,尋復隨逮十阿僧祇億百千垓諸三昧門,入於六十不可計會億百千垓諸總持門,如海總持寶藏總持,然後不失諸定意法。臨壽終時,目見十方各十億垓諸佛正覺,十方諸佛所說法者,皆能啟受不失道教,至成佛道,越五百劫生死之難,住於斯學如是不久,尋即成無上正真之道為最正覺。」

Those who believe and are happy to accept are called youths, they are pure and noble, the wealth of kings. The youths are humble, serving the Buddha, and those who hear this name have no doubt. 佛復告童子:「北方去此如前譬喻復加三分,越彼佛土六十無限億百千垓諸佛境土,其世界名曰決了寶網,其佛號月殿清凈如來、至真、等正覺、明行成為、善逝、世間解、無上士、道法御、天人師、佛、世尊,現在說法。若族姓子及族姓女學菩薩乘,聞彼佛名,信樂不疑,敬喜道眼之所頒宣,所生之處常當逮致寶幢三昧,觀見十方各十江沙諸佛國土,亦越若干百千億垓生死之難

They have generated billions of merits, because of hearing the Buddha's name, They have attained sixty billion samadhis, their number beyond calculation. Because of upholding the name of the guide, and because of serving and making offerings, Therefore, these courageous ones all follow and cultivate the path of the Buddha. They have converted countless thousands of people, establishing the supreme path of the Buddha, They understand the Buddha's teachings, and have never been tainted by worldly desires, It is like the actions of sentient beings, for whom names are established. Those who hear this name should widely proclaim it to all beings, They will not fall into the eight difficulties (八難, eight unfavorable conditions for practicing Dharma), and will easily encounter peaceful and tranquil environments. With this, they eliminate all dangers and calamities, this is what the Buddha is now about to speak, This person is always at ease, encountering the wonderful Buddha's era. If a youth can understand, as the Tathāgata has revealed, Those who hear the Buddha's name, can all illuminate these sentient beings, They should then use this sutra to proclaim it to others. The world's Right Enlightenment is like this, the world's protector saves many, Those who hear this name should harmonize their minds and accept the teachings. Turning around to speak to others, they are then protecting the Buddha's Dharma, Those who protect the Buddha's Dharma, are skilled in proclaiming the causes of the right path, Because they have heard this sutra, they analyze and explain it for others.

The Buddha further told the youth: 'Going north from here, like the previous analogy, add another three parts, passing beyond those Buddha lands, sixty limitless billions of hundreds of thousands of gai (垓, a large number unit) of Buddha lands, that world is called Decided Treasure Net, and the Buddha there is named Moon Palace Pure Tathāgata (月殿清凈如來), Arhat (至真), Samyaksaṃbuddha (等正覺), Vidyācaraṇasaṃpanna (明行成為), Sugata (善逝), Lokavid (世間解), Anuttara (無上士), Puruṣadamyasārathi (道法御), Śāstādevamanuṣyāṇāṃ (天人師), Buddha (佛), Bhagavat (世尊), and is now teaching the Dharma. 【English Translation】 English version (The Buddha said:) 'This Buddha vowed to enable beginners to quickly attain the unsurpassed, true, and right path, becoming the most perfectly enlightened one (anuttara-samyak-sambodhi). If a woman hears the name of this Buddha, without harboring doubt, and believes my words, she will be reborn in a place where she will transform into a male body, and she will persuade countless hundreds and thousands of beings, causing them to reach the unsurpassed, true, and right path. She will understand the sound of the Dharma, attain the state of non-retrogression, quickly achieve perfect enlightenment, and should explain the scriptures to all beings, enabling them to reach the three vehicles of sravaka (hearers of the Dharma who attain liberation), pratyekabuddha (those who attain liberation through self-awakening without a teacher), and bodhisattva (those who seek enlightenment for the sake of all beings).'

The Buddha then spoke in verses:

'If one hears the name of the Two-Footed Honored One (a title for the Buddha), and their heart is joyful and without hesitation, they can abandon unlawful worries, and their righteous actions will be as numerous as the rivers. Seeing the Buddhas will be the same, and the Buddhas they serve and make offerings to will be countless. In one lifetime, the offerings will be endless, and all that can be offered will be the most beautiful things. Those who can practice the path of the Honored Buddha, their merits are so special and extraordinary. If one praises the wisdom and light of the many sages, and upon hearing it, does not harbor doubt, if a woman hears these names of the Buddhas without hesitation, she can quickly transform into a male body, and receive the light that shines everywhere. Her light will shine everywhere without exception, and she will go to the lands of countless Buddhas, and see the good and evil deeds of all beings in the world, and then become a Buddha, always without worry. If one can hear the names of the Buddhas, their spiritual power will be so superior, the assembly of the Tathagata will be like a great dragon, how much more so for those who aspire to the path of the Buddha? Respecting and honoring perfect enlightenment, and being free from defilement, if one hears the Buddha's name, they should quickly proclaim it. The light that shines will be like the sunlight, and they will attain samadhi meditation, and be skilled in explaining the Dharma. If one can follow the path of the Honored Buddha, their merits will be so extraordinary. Beings are countless and inconceivable, the path of the Honored Buddha that the sages encourage is like a magnificent and majestic moon palace, residing in the void and emitting light. Those who can uphold the name of the Tathagata, their power and beauty will be like this. What kind of person hears the name of the Buddha, yet harbors doubt and hesitation? If one can sincerely


誠行此法,  慇勤遵修最尊道。  常能勤行無上義,  其人不致諍訟事,  以無極行奉聖尊,  適聞其名尋歸命。」

佛告童子:「下方去此過於前喻九十九倍,復越于彼,如九十九不可計會億百千垓諸佛剎土,有世界名尊幢君,其佛號善寂月音王如來、至真、等正覺、明行成為、善逝、世間解、無上士、道法御、天人師、佛、世尊,所說經典上中下善,獨步三界、救濟三世,令志大道無上正真。

「若族姓子及族姓女學菩薩乘,聞彼佛名心不懷疑,信我道眼之所解說,所生之處得普光三昧。臨壽終時,具足逮見億百千垓佛現住其前,十方各然,十方諸佛為說經典,聞則受持,抱在心懷未曾忽忘,至成佛道不可計會十倍功勛億百千垓,致不可計無崖底載諸三昧定,不中失定,至成佛道無所蔽礙,十方諸佛皆共建立。在於新學,越九十九億百千劫生死之難,菩薩疾近無上正真之道,不以劫數生死為礙,如日晃出天下大明。」

於是世尊觀此義已,即說頌曰:

The Buddha told the youth: 『Below, going beyond this place by ninety-nine times the previous analogy, and then beyond that distance, like ninety-nine incalculable, countless billions of nayutas of Buddha lands, there is a world named 'Honored Banner Lord'. The Buddha there is named 'Good Tranquil Moon Sound King Tathagata (Tathagata), the Truly Worthy One (Arhat), the Perfectly Enlightened One (Samyak-sambuddha), Accomplished in Knowledge and Conduct (Vidya-carana-sampanna), the Well-Gone One (Sugata), Knower of the World (Lokavid), the Unsurpassed One (Anuttara-purusa), Tamer of Men (Purusa-damya-sarathi), Teacher of Gods and Humans (Sasta deva-manusyanam), Buddha (Buddha), the World Honored One (Bhagavat). The scriptures he speaks, from beginning to end, are supremely good, unique in the three realms, saving the three times, enabling beings to aspire to the supreme and true path.』 『If a son or daughter of good family studies the Bodhisattva path, upon hearing the name of that Buddha, they will not harbor doubt in their hearts, and will believe in the explanation of what I have seen with my Dharma eye. At the time of their death, they will fully see countless billions of nayutas of Buddhas appearing before them, in all ten directions. The Buddhas of the ten directions will preach the scriptures to them, and upon hearing them, they will receive and uphold them, keeping them in their hearts, never forgetting them. Until they attain Buddhahood, the merit they accumulate will be ten times incalculable, reaching immeasurable, boundless Samadhi concentrations, and they will not lose their concentration within the concentration. Until they attain Buddhahood, they will have no obstacles, and all the Buddhas of the ten directions will jointly establish them. For a newly learning Bodhisattva, they will transcend the difficulties of birth and death for ninety-nine billion nayutas of kalpas, quickly approaching the supreme and true path, not hindered by kalpas of birth and death, just as the sun rises, illuminating the world with great light.』 Then, the World Honored One, having observed this principle, spoke the following verses: 『Hearing the name of the Honored One who travels the world, he is a great divine sage with countless boundless merits. Being able to see countless billions of Buddhas, one should personally serve such a supreme Buddha. Because one is able to make offerings to all the Tathagatas, becoming a good guide, widely opening up teachings, universally illuminating the three times, and then attaining Buddhahood without worry. The Buddhas one serves and makes offerings to in one lifetime are as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River, and one will quickly attain the supreme and perfect enlightenment.』

Establishing sentient beings to be free from the three evil paths, extinguishing the fire of birth and death as if with water. Becoming a field of merit revered by gods and humans, as a guide among people, whose virtue is extraordinary. People who see him are filled with joy, abandoning all the eight difficulties. The wise can reach the state of solitary quietude, obtaining a human body, always intelligent and holy. After countless lifetimes, one can encounter a Buddha, if someone proclaims the name of abiding. Even if one makes hundreds and thousands of vows, one can hear the guidance of this world's light. With a peaceful mind, achieving the eye of great enlightenment, one should also attain gentle patience. Just as I (referring to Shakyamuni Buddha) received the prediction from Dipamkara Buddha, seeing the Buddha and scattering flowers upon him. The wise who attain patience are also like this, proclaiming the names of billions of Buddhas that surpass ordinary vows. When he expounds the light, at the end of his life, hearing his name, there is no one who does not proclaim it. Only the false arts of the heretics are used to obscure people's understanding of the Dharma. If someone hears this sutra being proclaimed, having personally seen the Tathagata expounding it. These people in future lives will be able to uphold it and explain it to others.

The Buddha told the youth: 'Above, going past worlds as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River multiplied by the previous metaphor, there is a world named 'Good Discrimination,' where the Buddha is named Ananta-virya-pranidhana-srestha Tathagata (Tathagata of Infinite Vigor and Vow), Tathagata, Samyaksambuddha, Vidyacharana-sampanna, Sugata, Lokavid, Anuttara, Purusadamyasarathi, Sasta devamanusyanam, Buddha, Bhagavan, who is now teaching the Dharma. Proclaiming the Dharma, enlightening the ten directions, the six Abhijna (superknowledges) and six Paramitas (perfections) all benefit sentient beings, only those who study the Bodhisattva path do not cut off the Buddha seed. If good men and good women study the Bodhisattva vehicle, hearing the name of that Buddha, without harboring doubts, believing in my Dharma eye, in every life they are born, they will never be lazy. Not practicing greed, not attached to parents, not clinging to wives, brothers, and sisters, not envying relatives of inner and outer lineages, not greedy for friends and acquaintances, in every life, their bodies will not be without the thirty-two Lakshanas (marks) to adorn themselves.'


少淫怒癡身無疾病,不多憂慮安隱無量,至成佛已,常逮得不可稱計億百千垓功勛之德。」

佛於是頌曰:

If one can hear the name of a Buddha and proclaim it to others, They will adorn themselves with the thirty-two marks (the thirty-two auspicious marks of a Buddha). Wisdom will not diminish or be depleted, they cultivate the Bodhisattva path, Revering and taking refuge in all Buddhas, this is the result of proclaiming the Buddha's name. They are always revered wherever they are, as are the inconceivable billions of Buddhas, Those who practice the Buddha's path have never been attached to anything. The merits they obtain cannot be exhausted by praise, Because by hearing the Buddha's name, they can proclaim it to others. Then, in future ages, if one encounters this name, Do not harbor doubts, the Buddha's wisdom is the supreme covering. They see the Buddha of equal enlightenment, making countless offerings, Then, in future ages, this sutra will come into their hands. They have practiced in past lives, through countless billions of kalpas, Giving away their bodies, hands, feet, ears, nose, and head, Wives, countries, and cities, all given away without resentment, Then, in future ages, those who can hear this sutra, If they can proclaim it to others, they will achieve the greatest blessings. Those who wish to understand the true meaning, the path of all Buddhas, Do not harbor hesitation, follow the teachings of the World Honored One. Therefore, upon hearing this sutra, tame your mind, learn contentment, Recite and study this scripture, and frequently practice walking meditation.'


常講具精進,  滿足備三月,  轉得總持決,  善執念諸法。」

於是童子寶網,聞佛所宣真諦之義,心懷悅豫,以金縷織成衣其價無數奉上如來。如來應時即如其像三昧正受,佛身一切諸有毛孔悉演光明,照于東方不可稱計無際世界;其在東方一切佛土,皆悉遙見此佛國土,其彼眾會集在道場,亦復皆睹於此佛剎。

當爾之時,九十九億百千兆載諸四部眾,皆各各見諸佛世尊。佛告童子寶網:「仁今乃見東方去此不可思議無能稱計無際世界諸佛世尊,浩浩甚多無以為喻?」

童子白曰:「已見。世尊!」

佛告童子:「譬如三千大千世界諸天人名一一身號,建立精進不可計會,其諸佛名復過於彼不可稱載,或名吉祥,善寂亦然;或名月響,月殿亦然;或名清凈,花光亦然;或有名號過神通王,如一名號,其若干名亦各如是。」

對曰:「已見。天中之天!」

「東西南北、四維上下,亦復如是,如仁今者所見佛數。仁者!更轉輪王若干反數。」

時童子寶網,歡喜踴躍善心生焉。

時地大動,一切眾生皆得安隱,其大光明無所不照,勸發德本。無央數億百千兆垓諸天之眾住虛空中,散花燒香供養如來。釋梵諸天各各侍從,無數兆載諸天營從,雨赤栴檀、

Bhikkhus (Buddhist monks), bhikkhunis (Buddhist nuns), as well as upasakas (lay male devotees), upasikas (lay female devotees), devas (gods), and mahoragas (a type of deity), all beings who hear this sutra will benefit, and its merits cannot be measured. Their blood will not be depleted, and if they enter fire, the fire will become cold. If someone single-mindedly practices this sutra for seven days, follows the path of the Buddha, and also makes offerings to Bodhisattvas (enlightened beings), they should uphold the sutra in this way. If someone were to use a single hair to hold a thousand worlds, and lift them with their palm, they would not put them down even after countless eons. If, in the latter days, someone were to speak of this sutra in this way, and widely proclaim it to others, they would quickly attain the supreme path of enlightenment. Suppose someone were to make offerings to these beings for countless eons, as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River, with a single-minded devotion to the Buddha, and build monasteries that are extremely vast, like a great chiliocosm, made of heavenly sandalwood. In one monastery, there would be hundreds of millions of lecture halls, and in each lecture hall, there would be hundreds of millions of beds, each covered with soft, fine clothing. The beds would be made of hundreds of millions of purple gold and jewels, so that great saints could dwell in the world, and these beds would be used to make offerings to them. If someone hears even one verse of this sutra, without doubt or hesitation, proclaims and praises it, and dwells in the name, their merit surpasses the aforementioned offerings. They also make offerings to me, the Teacher of Gods and Humans, and are able to uphold and practice without breaking the precepts. If someone is wise and hears the name of samadhi (Buddhist meditation), they will be able to see Buddhas as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River. They will also be able to respectfully greet and serve them. The majestic power of these Two-Legged Saints (an epithet for the Buddha) is limitless. They constantly speak the sutras without negligence, and they never forget them for countless billions of kalpas. Those who have seen in past lives the Lion's Roar (an epithet for the Buddha) expounding the noble sutras, the unique King of the Path (an epithet for the Buddha), will rejoice upon hearing this sutra in the latter days. They have received teachings from the World Honored One in past lives, have discarded the defilements of the net (a metaphor for afflictions), have removed all evil deeds, and have turned away from greed like one would from unclean feces. Such people are called 'having eyes' (having wisdom), enjoy living in seclusion, and are never reckless. This person was originally in the city of Vaisali (an ancient Indian city), and because they heard the Buddha expound this sutra, they took refuge in the Tathagata and saw the jeweled net (the Buddha's adornment). In the latter days, they will be able to uphold this sutra and explain it to their disciples as I have taught. Their conduct is noble and excellent, their merit is abundant, they have compassion for suffering beings, and they guide them to liberation from the cycle of birth and death. In the latter days, they will be able to uphold this sutra, make offerings to countless Buddhas, and such people will be able to protect the Dharma in the latter days. If someone practices pure conduct (brahmacarya) for billions of trillions of kalpas, and accumulates immeasurable merit in the world, those who hear this sutra in the latter days will have merit that surpasses them, and no one can compare. They will receive the sutra, contemplate it deeply without end, and travel to countless Buddha-lands. They will see the Perfect Awakened Ones (an epithet for the Buddha) expounding limitless Dharma, and they will see Amitabha Buddha and Akshobhya Buddha. Those who wish to see these guides of humanity, the Light of Purity (an epithet for the Buddha), and Lion Moon Hero (an epithet for the Buddha), should uphold this sutra in the latter days. If they also wish to see Maitreya (the future Buddha)


如來、無垢大聖師子英如來,如光明尊,亦復如是。然後末世當持佛法,順如是比尊妙經典。今者如來為寶網說,自於後世當奉行之,無得住立放逸之地,不毀禁戒常無放逸,於後世時當奉行之。仁壽終時,當速往生上方世界無量光明最勝佛土,世界名曰為寶君主,彼壽終已,當久逮尋見彌勒正覺。」

佛說如是,童子寶網,四萬億菩薩彌勒菩薩等,六十億阿羅漢,九十億諸天、世人、阿須倫,聞佛所說,莫不歡喜,作禮而退。

【English Translation】 English version: The Tathagata, the Vimala Mahasinha Sura Tathagata, like the Light Honored One, is also the same. Then, in the latter days, one should uphold the Dharma, and follow such noble and wonderful scriptures. Now, the Tathagata speaks for Ratnajala, and one should practice this Dharma in the future, not dwelling in a place of negligence, not destroying the precepts, always without negligence, and in the future, one should practice this Dharma. When life ends, one should quickly be reborn in the upper world, the immeasurable light and most excellent Buddha land, that world is called Ratnaraja, and after life ends there, one should quickly see the Maitreya's perfect enlightenment.
