如是我聞:
一時,佛在王舍城鷲峰山中,與大苾芻眾五萬五千俱胝;一心行菩提行,無能勝菩薩等八萬百千無數俱胝那臾多;諸天人等百千那臾多。
爾時,世尊于其食時著衣持缽,與苾芻眾並諸菩薩、天龍神等,恭敬圍繞,入王舍大城,于彼乞食。
是時,頻婆娑羅王子名寶月童子,因為事故乘大龍象出王舍大城。遙見世尊,即下龍象,而詣佛所。到已致敬,頭面禮足,住立一面。寶月童子白佛言:「如來、應供、正等正覺!唯愿世尊,說彼十方如來所有名號。若有信心善男子、善女人,聞是名已,所有五逆等罪及一切業障,悉皆消除,于無上正等正覺速得不退。」
爾時,世尊告寶月童子言:「善哉,善哉!汝能樂聞如來名號之義,此意賢善,一切罪業決定消除。童子!汝今諦聽,善思念之!我為汝說。
「童子!過於東方百千俱胝那臾多恒河沙等佛剎,彼有世界名曰無憂,彼有如來,名賢吉祥,應供、等正覺,少病少惱,乃至為諸眾生恒說妙法。彼佛壽命,六萬百千俱胝那臾多無

【English Translation】 English version Thus have I heard: At one time, the Buddha was in Mount Gṛdhrakūṭa in Rājagṛha, together with a great assembly of fifty-five koṭis (ten million) of bhikṣus; eighty hundred thousand countless koṭis of nayutas (one million) of Bodhisattvas, such as Ajita Bodhisattva, who were single-mindedly practicing the Bodhi path; and hundreds of thousands of nayutas of devas and humans. Then, at mealtime, the World Honored One, wearing his robes and carrying his bowl, entered the great city of Rājagṛha, respectfully surrounded by the bhikṣus, Bodhisattvas, devas, nāgas, and others, to beg for alms. At that time, Prince Ratnacandra Kumāra, the son of King Bimbisāra, was riding a great dragon elephant out of the city of Rājagṛha on some business. Seeing the World Honored One from afar, he immediately dismounted the elephant and went to where the Buddha was. Having arrived, he paid homage, bowed his head to the feet of the Buddha, and stood to one side. Ratnacandra Kumāra said to the Buddha, 'Tathāgata, Arhat, Samyaksaṃbuddha! May the World Honored One please speak of the names of all the Tathāgatas in the ten directions. If faithful good men and good women hear these names, all their sins, such as the five heinous crimes, and all karmic obstacles will be eliminated, and they will quickly attain non-retrogression in Anuttarā-samyak-saṃbodhi.' Then, the World Honored One said to Ratnacandra Kumāra, 'Excellent, excellent! You are delighted to hear the meaning of the Tathāgata's names. This intention is virtuous, and all karmic sins will certainly be eliminated. Child! Now listen carefully and contemplate well! I will speak for you.' 'Child! Passing beyond hundreds of thousands of koṭis of nayutas of Buddha-kṣetras (Buddha-fields) as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River (gaṅgā-nadī-vālukā) to the east, there is a world called Aśoka (Free from Sorrow). There is a Tathāgata there named Bhadraśrī (Auspicious Glory), Arhat, Samyaksaṃbuddha, who is free from illness and affliction, and who constantly expounds the wonderful Dharma for all beings. The lifespan of that Buddha is six hundred thousand koṭis of nayutas of immeasurable kalpas.'
數劫。彼世界中無其日月晝夜,唯有佛光普照一切,及照地獄、傍生、焰魔羅界一切眾生令得解脫,無量眾生得無生法忍。」
佛言:「童子!南方過百千俱胝那臾多恒河沙等佛剎,彼有世界名曰寂靜,彼有如來,名無邊光,應供、正等正覺,為諸眾生恒說妙法。」
佛言:「童子!西方過百千俱胝那臾多恒河沙等佛剎,彼有世界名曰歡喜,彼有如來,名喜吉祥,應供、正等正覺,為諸眾生恒說妙法。」
佛言:「童子!北方過百千俱胝那臾多恒河沙等佛剎,彼有世界名曰不動,彼有如來,名曰寶幢,應供、正等正覺,為諸眾生恒說妙法。」
佛言:「童子!東南方過百千俱胝那臾多恒河沙等佛剎,彼有世界名曰正行,彼有如來,名曰無憂吉祥,應供、正等正覺,為諸眾生恒說妙法。」
佛言:「童子!西南方過百千俱胝那臾多恒河沙等佛剎,彼有世界名曰寶幢吉祥,彼有如來,名曰寶幢,應供、正等正覺,為諸眾生恒說妙法。」
佛言:「童子!西北方過百千俱胝那臾多恒河沙等佛剎,彼有世界名曰妙聲,彼有如來,名吉祥花,應供、正等正覺,為諸眾生恒說妙法。」
佛言:「童子!東北方過百千俱胝那臾多恒河沙等佛剎,彼有世界名曰安樂,彼有如來,名蓮華光嬉

【English Translation】 English version: Through countless kalpas (eons). In that world, there are no sun, moon, day, or night; only the Buddha's light shines universally, illuminating all beings in hell, the animal realm (tiryak), and the realm of Yama (pretaloka), enabling them to attain liberation. Countless beings attain the 'anutpattika-dharma-ksanti' (the acceptance of the non-arising of all dharmas). The Buddha said, 'O son! To the south, beyond hundreds of thousands of kotis (a large number) of nayutas (another large number) of Ganges sands of Buddha-lands, there is a world named Tranquility. There is a Tathagata (Buddha), named Boundless Light, an Arhat (worthy of offerings), a Samyak-sambuddha (perfectly enlightened one), who constantly expounds the wonderful Dharma for all beings.' The Buddha said, 'O son! To the west, beyond hundreds of thousands of kotis of nayutas of Ganges sands of Buddha-lands, there is a world named Joy. There is a Tathagata, named Joy Auspiciousness, an Arhat, a Samyak-sambuddha, who constantly expounds the wonderful Dharma for all beings.' The Buddha said, 'O son! To the north, beyond hundreds of thousands of kotis of nayutas of Ganges sands of Buddha-lands, there is a world named Immovable. There is a Tathagata, named Jewel Banner, an Arhat, a Samyak-sambuddha, who constantly expounds the wonderful Dharma for all beings.' The Buddha said, 'O son! To the southeast, beyond hundreds of thousands of kotis of nayutas of Ganges sands of Buddha-lands, there is a world named Right Conduct. There is a Tathagata, named Worry-Free Auspiciousness, an Arhat, a Samyak-sambuddha, who constantly expounds the wonderful Dharma for all beings.' The Buddha said, 'O son! To the southwest, beyond hundreds of thousands of kotis of nayutas of Ganges sands of Buddha-lands, there is a world named Jewel Banner Auspiciousness. There is a Tathagata, named Jewel Banner, an Arhat, a Samyak-sambuddha, who constantly expounds the wonderful Dharma for all beings.' The Buddha said, 'O son! To the northwest, beyond hundreds of thousands of kotis of nayutas of Ganges sands of Buddha-lands, there is a world named Wonderful Sound. There is a Tathagata, named Auspicious Flower, an Arhat, a Samyak-sambuddha, who constantly expounds the wonderful Dharma for all beings.' The Buddha said, 'O son! To the northeast, beyond hundreds of thousands of kotis of nayutas of Ganges sands of Buddha-lands, there is a world named Bliss. There is a Tathagata, named Lotus Light Play, an Arhat, a Samyak-sambuddha, who constantly expounds the wonderful Dharma for all beings.'
戲智,應供、正等正覺,為諸眾生恒說妙法。」
佛言:「童子!下方過百千俱胝那臾多恒河沙等佛剎,彼有世界名曰廣大,彼有如來,名光明吉祥,應供、正等正覺,為諸眾生恒說妙法。」
佛言:「童子!上方過百千俱胝那臾多恒河沙等佛剎,彼有世界名為月光,彼有如來,名財吉祥,應供、正等正覺,為諸眾生恒說妙法。
「童子!如是一切世界佛剎,皆有清凈旃檀樓閣,所有如來名號,若人聞已,恭敬受持、書寫讀誦、廣為人說,所有五逆等一切罪業悉皆消除,亦不墮地獄、傍生、焰魔羅界,于無上正等正覺速得不退。
「于意云何?童子!於過去大無數,及廣大無邊無數劫,時有世界名曰寶生,彼有如來,名精進吉祥,應供、正等正覺,彼十如來於精進吉祥佛所為菩薩位,于其佛前供養髮愿:『我等各于佛剎成無上正等正覺之時,若有眾生經剎那間至須臾之間,聞我十佛名號,聞已恭敬受持、書寫讀誦、廣為人說,所有五逆等一切罪業悉皆消除,亦不墮地獄、傍生、焰魔羅界,于無上正等正覺速得不退。』」
爾時,寶月童子如是聞已,而復白言:「世尊!彼佛如來壽量云何?」
世尊答言:「彼佛壽十阿僧祇、百千俱胝、那臾多世界微塵等劫。」
童子聞已

Passing through hundreds of thousands of kotis of nayutas of Ganges sands (an extremely large number) of Buddha-lands below, there is a world named Vast, and there is a Tathagata there, named Light Auspicious, worthy of offerings, perfectly and completely enlightened, constantly speaks the wonderful Dharma for all sentient beings.』 The Buddha said: 『Child! Passing through hundreds of thousands of kotis of nayutas of Ganges sands (an extremely large number) of Buddha-lands above, there is a world named Moonlight, and there is a Tathagata there, named Wealth Auspicious, worthy of offerings, perfectly and completely enlightened, constantly speaks the wonderful Dharma for all sentient beings.』 『Child! In all such Buddha-lands of the worlds, there are pure sandalwood (a type of fragrant wood) pavilions. If anyone hears the names of all the Tathagatas, and respectfully accepts, upholds, writes, recites, and widely proclaims them to others, all karmic offenses such as the five heinous crimes (killing one's father, killing one's mother, killing an Arhat, shedding the blood of a Buddha, and causing disunity in the Sangha) will be eliminated, and they will not fall into hell, the realm of animals, or the realm of Yama (the realm of hungry ghosts). They will quickly attain non-retrogression in the unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment.』 『What do you think, child? In the past, countless, vast, and boundless countless kalpas (extremely long periods of time), there was a world named Treasure Birth, and there was a Tathagata there, named Diligence Auspicious, worthy of offerings, perfectly and completely enlightened. Those ten Tathagatas were in the position of Bodhisattvas under the Diligence Auspicious Buddha. They made offerings and vows before that Buddha: 『When each of us attains unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment in our respective Buddha-lands, if any sentient being hears the names of us ten Buddhas in an instant or a short moment, and respectfully accepts, upholds, writes, recites, and widely proclaims them to others, all karmic offenses such as the five heinous crimes will be eliminated, and they will not fall into hell, the realm of animals, or the realm of Yama. They will quickly attain non-retrogression in the unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment.』』 At that time, Bodhisattva Treasure Moon, having heard this, asked again: 『World Honored One! How long is the lifespan of those Buddha Tathagatas?』 The World Honored One replied: 『The lifespan of those Buddhas is ten asankhyeyas (an extremely large number), hundreds of thousands of kotis, nayutas of world-dust-like kalpas (an extremely large number).』 Having heard this, the child
,白佛言:「彼佛如來,甚為希有!如是悲心發願,為諸眾生得此壽量。」
佛言:「童子!若有眾生聞此十佛名號,恭敬受持、書寫讀誦、信樂修行,所有無量、無邊福德悉得具足,三業之罪亦不能生。
「童子!若有善男子、善女人,于恒河沙等佛剎,滿中七寶供養如來,經百千歲獲福無量;若善男子、善女人聞是十佛名號,恭敬信受、書寫讀誦、為他解說,所得福德勝前供養無量無邊。」
爾時,索河世界主、大梵天王、帝釋天子、四天大王、穌枲么天子、大自在天子,以最上旃檀香粖散世尊前而為供養,白世尊言:「若有眾生於此正法,書寫讀誦、信解受持,得一切天人、阿修羅尊重禮拜,所有地獄、畜生、焰魔羅界、阿修羅身及餓鬼趣,皆得解脫。」
佛言:「若此正法,耳根得聞、受持讀誦,罪惡魔冤不能侵害,于阿耨多羅三藐三菩提速得不退。」
爾時,世尊而說頌曰:
「持此世尊十名號, 如是壽命俱胝劫, 佛說功德不思議, 未來成就二足尊。」
爾時,頻婆娑羅王寶月童子,白於世尊而說伽他曰:
「大無畏善說, 無邊無量佛, 眾生最上師, 我今歸命禮。 如是今修學, 一切佛知見, 愿斷于煩惱, 速成於菩提。

【English Translation】 English version: Prince Baoyue said to the Buddha, 'That Buddha Tathagata is truly very rare! He has made such a compassionate vow, wishing for all beings to obtain such a lifespan.' The Buddha said, 'Child! If there are beings who hear the names of these ten Buddhas, respectfully accept, uphold, write, recite, and believe in and practice them, they will fully obtain immeasurable and boundless merits, and the sins of the three karmas (body, speech, and mind) will not arise.' 'Child! If there are good men and good women who, in Buddha-lands as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River, offer to the Tathagata with offerings filled with seven treasures for hundreds of thousands of years, the merits they obtain are also immeasurable; if good men and good women hear the names of these ten Buddhas, respectfully believe, accept, write, recite, and explain them to others, the merits they obtain surpass the previous offerings, immeasurable and boundless.' At that time, the lord of the Soha world, the Great Brahma King (Brahma, the god of creation), the Indra (Indra, king of gods), the Four Heavenly Kings (the Four Great Kings), the Suyama Heaven Prince (Suyama, lord of the Yama Heaven), and the Maheshvara Heaven Prince (Maheshvara, Shiva), scattered the finest sandalwood powder before the World Honored One as an offering, and said to the World Honored One, 'If there are beings who, for this Dharma, write, recite, believe, understand, and uphold it, they will receive the respect and worship of all gods, humans, and Asuras (Asura, demigods), and all hells, animals, the realm of Yamaraja (Yamaraja, the realm of the king of death), Asura bodies, and the realm of hungry ghosts will all be liberated.' The Buddha said, 'If this Dharma is heard by the ear, accepted, and recited, sins and demonic obstacles cannot harm them, and they will quickly attain non-retrogression in Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi (Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi, unsurpassed perfect enlightenment).' At that time, the World Honored One spoke in verse: 'Holding the ten names of this World Honored One, Such a lifespan can reach koti kalpas (koti kalpa, countless eons), The Buddha said this merit is inconceivable, In the future, one will achieve the Two-Legged Honored One (Buddha).' At that time, Prince Baoyue of King Bimbisara (Bimbisara) spoke a verse to the World Honored One: 'The fearless and well-spoken one, The boundless and immeasurable Buddhas, The supreme teacher of beings, I now take refuge and bow in reverence. Thus I now study, All the knowledge and vision of the Buddhas, May I cut off afflictions, And quickly achieve Bodhi.'

爾時,童子說此頌已,白世尊言:「我今如是所有忍辱,菩薩大智總持法門,方廣之教佛菩提行,如是修學行菩提行。」
爾時,世尊復說頌曰:
「若人受持佛名號, 水火盜賊不能侵, 毒藥刀杖王難等, 一切諸苦自消除, 如是速得於菩提, 廣令流佈佛名號。
「若此正法于末世時,有人受持讀誦,此人命終速成佛道;若以香花供養一切諸佛經多劫時,不如有人於此正法暫時書寫讀誦,所得福德無量無邊;若人以最上所愛七寶,滿於一切剎土之中,供養一切諸佛,亦不如讀誦此經得福甚多。」
佛說此經時,無量百千俱胝那臾多眾生,發阿耨多羅三藐三菩提心;無量、無邊眾生得無生忍,不退轉于阿耨多羅三藐三菩提。
佛說是語時,寶月童子等,皆大歡喜,作禮而退。

【現代漢語翻譯】 現代漢語譯本 當時,童子說完這首偈頌后,對世尊說:『我現在所擁有的忍辱,菩薩大智總持法門,方廣的教義,佛菩提的修行,都是這樣修學,行菩提之道的。』 當時,世尊又說偈頌道: 『如果有人受持佛的名號,水、火、盜賊都不能侵犯他,毒藥、刀杖、王難等一切痛苦都會自行消除,這樣就能迅速證得菩提,廣泛流佈佛的名號。』 『如果這正法在末世時,有人受持讀誦,這個人命終后就能迅速成就佛道;如果用香花供養一切諸佛,經歷多劫的時間,也不如有人對這正法暫時書寫讀誦,所得到的福德無量無邊;如果有人用最上等所珍愛的七寶,充滿一切剎土之中,供養一切諸佛,也不如讀誦此經得到的福德多。』 佛說這部經時,無量百千俱胝那臾多(俱胝:千萬;那臾多:極多數)的眾生,發起了阿耨多羅三藐三菩提心(無上正等正覺之心);無量無邊的眾生得到了無生法忍(對諸法不生不滅的真理的領悟),不會再退轉于阿耨多羅三藐三菩提。 佛說完這些話時,寶月童子等都非常歡喜,行禮後退下。 《大乘寶月童子問法經》
【English Translation】 English version At that time, after the boy spoke this verse, he said to the World Honored One: 'The forbearance I now possess, the Bodhisattva's great wisdom, the Dharani (total retention) Dharma gate, the teachings of Vaipulya (extensive) scriptures, the practice of Buddha's Bodhi, are all cultivated and practiced in this way, following the path of Bodhi.' At that time, the World Honored One again spoke a verse: 'If a person upholds the Buddha's name, water, fire, and thieves cannot harm them. Poison, weapons, royal troubles, and all sufferings will naturally disappear. In this way, one can quickly attain Bodhi and widely spread the Buddha's name.' 'If this true Dharma is upheld and recited in the latter days, that person will quickly attain Buddhahood after death. If one offers incense and flowers to all Buddhas for many kalpas (eons), it is not as meritorious as someone who temporarily writes and recites this true Dharma, the merit obtained is immeasurable and boundless. If one uses the most precious and beloved seven treasures to fill all Buddha lands and offers them to all Buddhas, it is still not as meritorious as reciting this scripture.' When the Buddha spoke this scripture, countless hundreds of thousands of kotis (ten million) of nayutas (a very large number) of beings generated the Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi (supreme perfect enlightenment) mind; countless, boundless beings attained the Kshanti (patience) of non-origination (understanding the truth of non-arising and non-ceasing of all dharmas), and will not regress from Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi. When the Buddha finished speaking, the boy, Ratna-chandra (Treasure Moon), and others were all very joyful, bowed, and withdrew.
