昔者世尊游羅閱祇,說經散慧,初語亦善、中語亦善、竟語亦善,其義微妙,凈修梵行,所講廣普。

時,王便給使數十餘人,常採好花以給王家。後宮貴人婇女大小,一日俱出城外采華,欲還入城,路逕遇佛,遙見世尊相好威光巍巍無量,猶星中月;若日初出照于天下,與聖眾俱弟子、菩薩前後圍繞。

往詣佛所稽首為禮,心自念言:「人命難保,佛世難遇,經法難值。今遭大聖,猶病者得良醫,身既貧賤加屬縣官,䩭役之患恒不自從,國王嚴急,主給採花常以早進,設失時節或能見誅。日不再中,聖眾難遇,億世時有;寧棄身命,以花上佛並散聖眾,因受經戒聽省深法無窮之慧。我于無數劫,為人所害不可稱載,未曾為法而惜身命,今供世尊三寶之業,縱使見害,不墮苦痛必生安處。」便以華散佛及聖眾上,卻自歸命一心重禮。

佛知其念發大道意,甚慈愍之,具為散講大乘之法、六度無極、四等四恩、三脫菩薩。時,諸采華人皆發無上正真道意,心解佛慧,至不退轉無所從生。佛即授決:「后

過去,世尊在羅閱祇(Rāmagṛha,古代印度城市,意為王舍城)游化,宣講佛經,開示智慧。開始的言語是善的,中間的言語是善的,結尾的言語也是善的,其義理微妙,清凈地修持梵行,所講的內容廣博而普遍。

當時,國王派遣了幾十個役使,經常採摘美好的鮮花來供給王家。後來,後宮的貴人、婇女,無論大小,有一天一同出城採花,想要返回入城時,在路上遇到了佛陀。遠遠地看見世尊的相好光明,威嚴而盛大,無比殊勝,就像眾星中的月亮;又像初升的太陽照耀天下,與聖眾弟子、菩薩前後圍繞。

她們前往佛陀所在之處,稽首頂禮,心中暗自思忖:『人命難以保全,佛陀出世難以遇到,佛經佛法難以值遇。如今遭逢大聖,就像病人得到了良醫;自身既貧賤又隸屬於縣官,勞役的苦患常常不能由自己決定,國王嚴厲急迫,主管供給採花,常常要求早早進獻,如果耽誤了時節,或許會因此被處死。太陽不會再次升到正中,聖眾難以遇到,億萬世才會有一次;寧可捨棄身命,用鮮花供養佛陀,並且散佈在聖眾之上,因此接受經戒,聽聞省察深奧的佛法,獲得無窮的智慧。我在無數劫以來,被人所傷害,不可勝數,未曾爲了佛法而吝惜身命,如今供養世尊三寶的功業,縱然因此被殺害,也不會墮入痛苦,必定往生安樂之處。』於是便用鮮花散在佛陀以及聖眾之上,然後退後一步,歸依佛法,一心恭敬地頂禮。

佛陀知道她們心中發起了大道之心,非常慈悲憐憫她們,詳細地為她們宣講大乘佛法、六度波羅蜜(ṣaṭ pāramitā,佈施、持戒、忍辱、精進、禪定、智慧)、四等四恩(慈、悲、喜、舍)、三脫菩薩(三種解脫法門)。當時,各位採花人都發起了無上正真道意(anuttarā-samyak-saṃbodhi-citta,無上正等正覺之心),心領神會佛陀的智慧,達到了不退轉的境界,不再從生死中產生。佛陀隨即為她們授記:『將來……』

【English Translation】 English version The Sutra of the Flower Gatherer King Receiving the Prediction of Buddhahood and Being Named Wonderful Flower

In the past, the World Honored One traveled in Rāmagṛha (ancient Indian city, meaning 'City of Kings'), expounding the scriptures and disseminating wisdom. His initial words were good, his middle words were good, and his concluding words were good. Their meaning was subtle, purely cultivating Brahma-conduct, and what was taught was vast and universal.

At that time, the king dispatched dozens of servants who regularly gathered beautiful flowers to supply the royal family. Later, the noble ladies and consorts of the harem, both young and old, went out of the city together one day to gather flowers. As they were about to return to the city, they encountered the Buddha on the road. From afar, they saw the magnificent and immeasurable radiance of the World Honored One's features, like the moon among the stars; like the newly rising sun illuminating the world, accompanied by a holy assembly of disciples and Bodhisattvas surrounding him.

They went to where the Buddha was, bowed their heads in reverence, and thought to themselves: 'Human life is difficult to preserve, encountering a Buddha is rare, and encountering the scriptures and Dharma is difficult. Now that we have met the Great Sage, it is like a sick person obtaining a good doctor; our own bodies are both poor and subject to the county officials, and the suffering of labor is often not up to us. The king is strict and urgent, and the supervisor of flower gathering always requires early delivery. If we miss the time, we may be put to death. The sun will not rise to the middle again, and the holy assembly is difficult to encounter, occurring once in billions of lifetimes; rather than cherish our lives, let us offer flowers to the Buddha and scatter them upon the holy assembly, thereby receiving precepts, listening to and contemplating the profound Dharma, and obtaining infinite wisdom. In countless kalpas, I have been harmed by others countless times, and have never spared my life for the sake of the Dharma. Now, offering to the World Honored One and the Three Jewels, even if I am killed for it, I will not fall into suffering, but will surely be born in a peaceful place.' Then they scattered flowers upon the Buddha and the holy assembly, and stepped back, taking refuge and reverently bowing with one mind.

The Buddha knew that they had aroused the mind for the Great Way, and was very compassionate towards them, explaining in detail the Great Vehicle Dharma, the Six Perfections (ṣaṭ pāramitā, generosity, morality, patience, diligence, concentration, and wisdom), the Four Immeasurables (loving-kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity), and the Three Deliverances of the Bodhisattvas. At that time, all the flower gatherers aroused the mind for unsurpassed perfect enlightenment (anuttarā-samyak-saṃbodhi-citta), understood the Buddha's wisdom, and reached the state of non-retrogression, no longer arising from birth and death. The Buddha then gave them a prediction: 'In the future...'


當得佛,號曰妙華如來、至真、等正覺、明行成為、善逝、世間解、無上士、道法御、天人師,號佛、世尊。」其邊人聞,莫不怡悅,啟受大法供奉三寶。

時采華夫供養受決,稽首佛足還歸家中,與家二親妻子辭別:「我今命盡為王見殺。」

父母愕然問:「何罪咎?」

諸子答曰:「為王所使行采諸華,中遙見佛以華貢上,王大嚴急,既違失時,復無有華,必見危命。故辭別耳。」

二親聞之益以愁戚,當奈之何!發篋視之,滿中好華須曼雜香,香薰鬱鬱遠徹四面,父母告曰:「可以進王。」

諸子各曰:「眾人見之,必傳至王,又復違時,恐不得安。」

時王大瞋,見不時來複散眾華,遣邊大臣多將人兵收取將來。則受王教,反縛入宮,罪當棄市。諸人不恐,面色不變。王怪問之:「汝等罪過命在不測,縛來當殺。何故不懅,面色不改?」

即白王曰:「人生有死,物成有敗,我從無數劫每以非法不惜身命,朝早采華值遇世尊,以華供上稽首歸命。爾時以知違令當死,寧以有德而死,不以無德而存。還視華篋續滿如故,皆是如來恩仁所覆。」

王甚怪之,心不信然,故往詣佛,稽首足下,卻坐一面,叉手問佛:「有是意不?」

佛言:「然,王!此人

【English Translation】 English version: 'When he attains Buddhahood, he will be named Myohua Tathagata (Myohua: Wonderful flowers, symbolizing the Buddha's wisdom and merit), Truthful, Perfectly Enlightened, Accomplished in Wisdom and Conduct, Well-Gone, Knower of the World, Unsurpassed One, Tamer of Beings, Teacher of Gods and Humans, called Buddha, World-Honored One.' Those who heard this were filled with joy, and began to receive the Great Dharma and make offerings to the Three Jewels. At that time, the flower gatherer made offerings and received a prediction of enlightenment. He bowed at the Buddha's feet and returned home, bidding farewell to his parents, wife, and children: 'My life is about to end, and I will be killed by the king.' His parents asked in astonishment, 'What crime have you committed?' His sons replied, 'He was ordered by the king to gather flowers. On the way, he saw the Buddha from afar and offered the flowers to him. The king is very strict, and since he was late and did not bring back any flowers, he will surely lose his life. That is why he is saying goodbye.' Upon hearing this, his parents became even more distressed, wondering what to do! They opened the basket and saw that it was full of beautiful Sumanas flowers and various fragrant flowers, their fragrance rich and spreading in all directions. His parents said, 'You can offer these flowers to the king.' His sons all said, 'If people see them, they will surely report it to the king, and since he is already late, he may not be spared.' At that time, the king was very angry. Seeing that the flower gatherer had not returned on time and had scattered the flowers, he sent a high minister with many soldiers to capture him. The minister obeyed the king's order, bound the flower gatherer, and brought him to the palace, where he was sentenced to death. But the flower gatherer was not afraid, and his face did not change. The king asked him in surprise, 'You have committed a crime, and your life is uncertain. You have been bound and brought here to be executed. Why are you not afraid, and why does your face not change?' The flower gatherer replied to the king, 'Life has death, and things have decay. From countless kalpas, I have often disregarded my life for unlawful things. This morning, while gathering flowers, I encountered the World-Honored One, and I offered the flowers to him, bowing and taking refuge. At that time, I knew that I would surely die for disobeying the order. I would rather die with merit than live without merit. Look back at my flower basket, it is still full as before, all covered by the kindness and compassion of the Tathagata.' The king was very surprised by this and did not believe it in his heart. Therefore, he went to the Buddha himself, bowed at his feet, sat to one side, and asked the Buddha with his palms together, 'Is this true?' The Buddha said, 'Yes, O King! This person...'


至心欲度十方,不惜身命,故取眾華以散上佛,意無想報以得受決,將來成佛號曰妙華至真、等正覺,用發大意受決之故,慈心之香華滿篋器莫不聞知。」

王大歡喜,疾解眾縛悔過自責:「愚意不及,繫縛菩薩,惟原其罪。」

佛言:「善哉!善哉!能自改者與無過同。」

佛說如是,王及臣民莫不悅豫,作禮而去。

采華違王上佛授決號妙花經

【現代漢語翻譯】 現代漢語譯本:至誠懇切地想要普度十方眾生,不惜犧牲自己的生命,所以採摘各種鮮花來供養佛,心中沒有期望得到回報的想法,只爲了能夠得到佛的授記,將來成佛,佛號叫做妙華至真(Miaohua Zhizhen,美妙蓮花至真),等正覺(Dengzhengjue,正等覺悟者)。因為發起如此宏大的志願並接受授記的緣故,慈悲之心如同香花一般充滿整個世界,所有的人沒有不知道的。

國王聽后非常高興,立刻解開所有的束縛,懺悔自己的過錯並責備自己:『我愚昧無知,竟然束縛菩薩,只希望菩薩能夠原諒我的罪過。』

佛說:『好啊!好啊!能夠改正自己過錯的人,就和沒有犯過錯的人一樣。』

佛說完這些話,國王以及臣民沒有不歡喜的,行禮后離開了。

《采華違王上佛授決號妙花經》(Caihua Wei Wang Shang Fo Shou Jue Hao Miaohua Jing,採花違背國王供養佛陀,佛陀授記名為妙花經)

【English Translation】 English version: With utmost sincerity, desiring to liberate all beings in the ten directions, not sparing one's own life, therefore gathering various flowers to offer to the Buddha, with no thought of expecting reward, only to receive the prediction of Buddhahood, that in the future, one will become a Buddha named Miaohua Zhizhen (Miaohua Zhizhen, Wonderful Lotus Utmost Truth), Samyak-sambuddha (Dengzhengjue, Perfectly and Fully Enlightened One). Because of making such a great vow and receiving the prediction, the heart of compassion, like fragrant flowers, fills the entire world, and there is no one who does not know.

The king was overjoyed, immediately released all the bonds, repented his faults, and blamed himself: 'My foolishness is beyond measure, to have bound a Bodhisattva. I only hope that the Bodhisattva will forgive my sins.'

The Buddha said, 'Excellent! Excellent! One who can correct their faults is the same as one who has never made a mistake.'

After the Buddha spoke these words, the king and his subjects were all delighted, paid their respects, and departed.
