聞如是:
一時,佛在羅閱祇耆阇崛山中。平旦從諸比丘,被袈裟持應器入城分衛。佛行向富迦羅越門,富迦羅越有子,年十六,名曰逝,時在第三門內遙見佛來,身有奇相容貌端正,心意安靜諸根寂寞,項中光出影耀殊絕,炎明熾盛,若日之凈月盛滿時悉照門內。
逝見佛如是,心中歡喜肅然而敬,便趨上堂,為母說偈言:
「金光色百餘, 希此所見聞, 今來住在外, 當給其所求。 威儀過梵王, 光顏殊諸天, 哀我故來耳, 愿以持與之。」
其母聞逝言,即告曰:「如汝所稱者,其人豈貧窮?何為當乞兒耶?一何惑哉!今所言者殊不合義。」
爾時,佛便以神足現化,放身光明徹照七重門內,盡為大明。逝感佛威神,復為母說偈言:
「譬如人見火, 端自投其中, 不善向佛者, 自賊亦如是。 天人中獨尊, 至聖無覆上, 是最可供養, 施必得大利。 今所有食分, 愿取用與我, 欲以奉上尊, 此歡難常值。」
其母即以所有好衣及

一時,佛陀在羅閱祇(Rāmagṛha,王舍城)的耆阇崛山(Gṛdhrakūṭa,鷲峰山)中。清晨,佛陀與眾比丘一同,披著袈裟,拿著應器(缽)進入城中乞食。佛陀走向富迦羅越(Pukkusa,弗迦沙)門,富迦羅越有一個兒子,年十六歲,名叫逝(Jeta,逝多),當時他在第三道門內遠遠看見佛陀走來,佛陀身有奇特的相貌,容貌端正,心意安靜,諸根寂寞,頸項中放出光明,光影照耀非常特別,光明熾盛,如同太陽的清凈光芒和月亮的圓滿光輝照亮整個門內。
逝看見佛陀如此,心中歡喜,肅然起敬,便快步走上堂,為母親說偈語:
『金色的光芒百餘道, 希有難得見到和聽聞, 如今來到門外, 應當給予他所求。 威儀超過梵天王, 光彩容顏勝過諸天, 爲了哀憐我才來的吧, 希望您能拿食物給他。』
他的母親聽了逝的話,就告訴他說:『像你所稱讚的那樣,那個人怎麼會貧窮呢?為什麼要當乞丐呢?真是迷惑啊!現在所說的話很不合道理。』
這時,佛陀便以神通力顯現變化,放出身體的光明,徹照七重門內,全部變為光明。逝感受到佛陀的威神力,又為母親說偈語:
『譬如人看見火, 竟然自己投身其中, 不善於向佛的人, 自害就像這樣。 天人之中最尊貴, 至聖之人沒有比他更高的, 是最值得供養的, 佈施必定得到大利益。 現在所有的食物, 希望您拿來給我, 想用來奉獻給至尊, 這種歡喜難以常常遇到。』

【English Translation】 English version The Buddha Speaks of Jeta Kumāra Sutra
Translated by the Śrāmaṇa Zhi Fadu of the Western Jin Dynasty
Thus have I heard:
At one time, the Buddha was in Rājagṛha (羅閱祇) at Gṛdhrakūṭa Mountain (耆阇崛山). In the early morning, the Buddha, along with the assembled Bhikṣus, donned their Kashaya robes and carried their alms bowls to enter the city for alms. The Buddha walked towards the Pukkusa (富迦羅越) gate. Pukkusa had a son, sixteen years old, named Jeta (逝). At that time, he was inside the third gate and saw the Buddha coming from afar. The Buddha's body had extraordinary marks, his appearance was dignified, his mind was peaceful, and his senses were tranquil. Light emanated from his neck, and the radiance was exceptionally brilliant, blazing and intense, like the pure light of the sun and the full radiance of the moon illuminating the entire gate.
When Jeta saw the Buddha in this way, his heart was filled with joy and reverence. He quickly went to the hall and spoke the following verse to his mother:
'Golden light, hundreds of rays, Rare to see and hear of this, Now he comes and stays outside, We should give him what he seeks. His majesty exceeds Brahmā, His radiant face surpasses the gods, He comes out of compassion for me, I wish to offer him what we have.'
His mother, hearing Jeta's words, replied, 'If he is as you describe, how could he be poor? Why would he be a beggar? How deluded! What you say now is quite unreasonable.'
At that moment, the Buddha used his supernatural power to manifest a transformation, emitting light from his body that illuminated all seven layers of gates, turning everything into great brightness. Jeta, feeling the Buddha's majestic power, spoke another verse to his mother:
'It is like a person seeing fire, And then throwing himself into it, One who is not kind to the Buddha, Harms himself in the same way. He is the most honored among gods and humans, The most holy one, none above him, He is the most worthy of offerings, Giving will surely bring great benefit. All the food we have now, I wish you would give it to me, I want to offer it to the Most Honored One, Such joy is rarely encountered.'
His mother then took out all the fine clothes and food
食具與逝,逝持出詣佛所,以頭面著地,為佛作禮,卻住一面,叉手白佛言:「今我見如來,虔心恭敬注意于佛,惟以加哀受己所施。」
佛應時受之,為逝說偈言:
「汝以伏慳意, 能善修治施, 今日供養佛, 所念莫不吉。」
逝聞佛所語,即自說偈言:
「我不願富貴, 亦弗望釋梵, 但願最智慧, 如佛而無上。」
爾時,天帝釋下立逝前,說偈言:
「才用一佈施, 欲求佛者難, 道常世世施, 積若須彌寶。 經歷千億劫, 恒行慈愛心, 不可以一施, 得覺無上道。」
逝即答天帝釋,說偈言:
「譬如大工匠, 欲伐巨木者, 猶不一下斧, 便以斷大樹。 斧斫稍以漸, 可盡太山木, 剝業從微得, 求道亦如是。 明不用一施, 而得成大道, 我有信精進, 必為世間將。」
天帝釋復為逝說偈言:
「不如求尊天, 釋梵易可得, 鮮能應佛法, 佛道甚難得。」
逝答天帝釋,說偈言:
「設使一天下, 滿中火洞然, 吾以身遍投, 終不捨佛意。 假令一切人, 皆共賊害我, 愿常慈心向, 終不廢大道。 脆哉釋梵天, 彼皆為死法

【English Translation】 English version Shi (name of a person) took the food container and went to where the Buddha was. He prostrated before the Buddha with his head touching the ground, then stepped back and stood to one side, placing his palms together and said to the Buddha, 'Now that I see the Tathagata (Tathagata, title of the Buddha), I am sincerely and respectfully focused on the Buddha, and I only hope that you will compassionately accept my offering.' The Buddha then accepted his offering and spoke a verse for Shi: 'You, with a mind that has overcome stinginess, are able to cultivate giving well. Today you make offerings to the Buddha, and all your thoughts will be auspicious.' Shi, hearing what the Buddha said, also spoke a verse himself: 'I do not wish for wealth and honor, nor do I hope to become Śakra (Śakra, king of the gods) or Brahmā (Brahmā, the creator god), but only wish to have the highest wisdom, like the Buddha, unsurpassed.' At that time, Śakra (Śakra, king of the gods) descended and stood before Shi, speaking a verse: 'It is difficult to seek Buddhahood with just one act of giving. Cultivating the path requires giving in lifetimes, accumulating merit like Mount Sumeru (Mount Sumeru, the sacred mountain in Buddhist cosmology). Going through billions of kalpas, constantly maintaining a loving heart, one cannot attain the unsurpassed path with just one act of giving.' Shi then replied to Śakra, speaking a verse: 'For example, a great craftsman, wanting to fell a giant tree, would not cut down the tree with just one axe blow. Chopping with the axe gradually, one can exhaust the trees of Mount Tai (Mount Tai, a famous mountain in China). Removing karma starts from the subtle, and seeking the path is also like this. I understand that one cannot attain the great path with just one act of giving, but I have faith and diligence, and I will surely become a leader in the world.' Śakra again spoke a verse for Shi: 'It is better to seek the honored gods; Śakra and Brahmā are easily attained. Few can respond to the Buddha's teachings; the Buddha's path is very difficult to attain.' Shi replied to Śakra, speaking a verse: 'Even if the entire world were filled with burning flames, I would throw myself into it, and in the end, I would not abandon my faith in the Buddha. Even if all people were to harm me together, I would always treat them with a compassionate heart, and in the end, I would not abandon the great path. How fragile are Śakra and Brahmā; they are all subject to death.'
, 愿歸一切智, 勇若師子雄。」
天帝釋復為逝說一偈言:
「快哉得善利! 乃有敬在佛, 專精向大道, 想汝必作佛。」
逝答天帝釋,說偈言:
「天王且勿疑, 於斯無上道, 精進吾匪懈, 會於世為佛。」
於是,天帝釋默然。
時佛為逝說偈言:
「汝已於往世, 敬事八千佛, 心常愿大道, 欲得安群生。 后十二億劫, 終不墮惡道, 但多修德善, 恒以興尊意。 汝當百億返, 作王遮迦越, 亦為四天王, 每輒行正法。 又當爲帝釋, 未常遠梵行, 後生兜術天, 然則道德成。 當居千國界, 中央得作佛, 名曰須彌劫, 一切莫不事。 千國各橫廣, 四百八十里, 宮墻之嚴飾, 一切皆以寶。 初會說法時, 六十千億人, 為弟子得度, 皆得阿羅漢; 再會說經時, 四十千億人, 皆入羅漢慧, 所度為甚眾; 三會說經時, 所度甚眾多, 離垢入凈慧, 悉得無所著。 是時佛剎中, 無有亂惡眾, 皆悉向道法, 一切行忠直。 疾病之憂苦, 都已無是鬼, 時人皆和睦, 展轉相念安。 天日三時雨

『你已經在過去世,恭敬侍奉了八千尊佛,心中常常希望得到大道,想要使眾生得到安樂。 往後十二億劫,終究不會墮入惡道,只要多多修習德行善事,常常以興盛佛法為尊。 你將有一百億次,成為轉輪聖王(cakravartin-rāja,統治世界的理想君主),也曾做過四天王(caturmahārājakāyikas,佛教的護法神),每次都奉行正法。 又將成為帝釋(Śakra-devānām-Indra),未曾遠離清凈的修行,後來會生到兜率天(Tuṣita,欲界天之一),那時道德就圓滿了。 你將居住在千國之界,在中央得道成佛,名號叫做須彌劫(Sumeru-kalpa),一切眾生沒有不敬事的。 這千國各自橫廣四百八十里,宮墻的莊嚴裝飾,一切都用寶物。 初次集會說法時,有六十千億人,作為弟子得到度化,都證得阿羅漢(arhat,斷盡煩惱,證得解脫的聖者); 再次集會說法時,有四十千億人,都證入阿羅漢的智慧,所度化的人非常眾多; 第三次集會說法時,所度化的人非常眾多,遠離塵垢,進入清凈的智慧,都得到無所執著的境界。 那時佛的國土中,沒有混亂邪惡的眾生,都歸向佛法,一切行為忠誠正直。 疾病的憂愁痛苦,都沒有這些鬼怪,那時的人們都和睦相處,互相思念安樂。 天上太陽按時降雨
【English Translation】 English version: 『May I return to all-knowing wisdom, brave as a lion king.』
Śakra-devānām-Indra (the lord of the devas in Buddhism) then spoke another verse to the departed (a practitioner):
『Excellent, you have gained good fortune! To have such respect for the Buddha, and to be so dedicated to the Great Path, I believe you will surely become a Buddha.』
The departed answered Śakra-devānām-Indra, speaking in verse:
『Heavenly King, please do not doubt, regarding this unsurpassed path, I am diligent and unremitting, and I will eventually become a Buddha in this world.』
Thereupon, Śakra-devānām-Indra remained silent.
At that time, the Buddha spoke a verse to the departed:
『You have in past lives, respectfully served eight thousand Buddhas, and your heart has always desired the Great Path, wishing to bring peace to all beings. For twelve billion kalpas (aeons) to come, you will never fall into evil realms, but only cultivate virtue and goodness, always holding the intention to exalt the Dharma. You will become a cakravartin-rāja (wheel-turning monarch, an ideal ruler) a hundred billion times, and also serve as one of the Four Heavenly Kings (caturmahārājakāyikas, guardians of the Buddhist faith), always practicing the Right Dharma. You will also become Śakra-devānām-Indra, never straying far from pure conduct, and will later be born in the Tuṣita Heaven (one of the heavens in the desire realm), at which time your morality will be perfected. You will reside within the boundaries of a thousand kingdoms, and in the center, you will attain Buddhahood, with the name Sumeru-kalpa, and all will revere you. Each of these thousand kingdoms will be four hundred and eighty li (a Chinese unit of distance) in breadth and width, and the majestic decorations of the palace walls will all be made of treasures. At the first assembly when you preach the Dharma, sixty trillion people, as disciples, will be liberated, all attaining the state of arhat (a perfected being who has extinguished all defilements); At the second assembly when you expound the scriptures, forty trillion people will enter the wisdom of the arhat, and the number of those liberated will be exceedingly great; At the third assembly when you preach the Dharma, the number of those liberated will be exceedingly great, departing from defilements and entering pure wisdom, all attaining a state of non-attachment. At that time, in the Buddha-field, there will be no chaotic or evil beings, all will turn towards the Dharma, and all will act with loyalty and integrity. The worries and sufferings of illness will be gone, and there will be no such demons, and the people of that time will live in harmony, thinking of each other with peace and comfort. The sun and the rain will come in due season.
, 才足掩土塵, 寒暑常調適, 度人若干種。 族姓之男女, 若欲興善意, 敬愛于佛者, 供養當如此。 吾今敷演是, 菩薩所當行, 面于正覺前, 即得佛慧眼。 諸佛無有數, 經法不可盡, 若以無數敬, 福報亦無量。」
佛說是決已,迦羅越子逝、天帝釋,及諸比丘,聞經歡喜,皆前為佛作禮而去。
逝童子經
【現代漢語翻譯】 現代漢語譯本: 才足以遮蔽塵土, 寒冷和炎熱常常調和適宜,度化眾生有若干種類。 家族中的男女,如果想要發起善意, 對佛陀恭敬愛戴的人,供養應當像這樣。 我現在宣講闡述這些,是菩薩應當修行的, 面對正覺(Sammasambuddha)之前,就能得到佛的智慧之眼。 諸佛的數量沒有窮盡,經法的道理也不可窮盡, 如果以無數的恭敬心,所獲得的福報也無量無邊。'
佛陀說完這些決斷之語后,迦羅越子(Kāravikoputra)、天帝釋(Śakra devānām indra),以及各位比丘(bhikkhu),聽聞佛經后歡喜,都上前向佛陀行禮后離去。
逝童子經
【English Translation】 English version: Enough to cover the dust, Cold and heat are often well-adjusted, saving sentient beings of various kinds. Men and women of the family, if they wish to generate good intentions, Those who respect and love the Buddha, offerings should be like this. I am now expounding these, which are what Bodhisattvas should practice, Facing the Sammasambuddha (Perfectly Enlightened One), one will obtain the Buddha's eye of wisdom. The number of Buddhas is endless, and the principles of the scriptures are inexhaustible, If with countless reverence, the blessings obtained are also immeasurable.'
After the Buddha finished speaking these decisive words, Kāravikoputra (Kāravika's son), Śakra devānām indra (Lord of the Gods), and the bhikkhus (monks), rejoiced upon hearing the sutra, and went forward to bow to the Buddha before departing.
