西天譯經三藏朝散大夫試鴻臚少卿明教大師臣法賢奉 詔譯
如是我聞:
一時佛在舍衛國祇樹給孤獨園,與大苾芻眾說佈施法。有三十七種:
一、以信重心而行佈施,當得離眾嫉妒,人所崇敬;
二、依時施,得三業清凈,四時安隱;
三、常行施,得身心適悅,無散亂失;
四、親手施,得手指纖長,身相端正;
五、為他施,復得他人行大舍施;
六、依教施,心離取相,得無為福;
七、以妙色具施,得身色端嚴,眾所愛樂;
八、以上妙香具施,恒得旃檀之香,受用供養;
九、以上味施,得味中上味,充益肢體;
十、如法尊重施,得安隱快樂,眾人喜見;
十一、以廣大心施,得無量廣大之福;
十二、以美食施,得離饑饉,倉庫盈溢;
十三、以漿飲施,得所往之處無諸飢渴;
十四、以衣服施,得上妙衣,莊嚴身相;
十五、以住處施,得田宅寬廣,樓閣莊嚴;
十六、以臥具施,得生貴族,資具光潔;
十七、以象、馬車輦施,得四神足,無擁妙用;

一時,佛在舍衛國祇樹給孤獨園(Jetavana-Anathapindika-arama),為大比丘眾宣說佈施之法。有三十七種:
一、以至誠的信心而行佈施,當能遠離眾人的嫉妒,受到人們的崇敬;
二、依時節而佈施,能得到身、口、意三業的清凈,四季安穩;
三、經常行佈施,能得到身心舒適愉悅,沒有散亂和缺失;
四、親手佈施,能得到手指纖長,身相端正;
五、為他人而佈施,又能得到他人行廣大的舍施;
六、依照教法而佈施,內心遠離執取之相,能得到無為的福報;
七、以美妙的顏色和器具佈施,能得到身色端莊美麗,為眾人所喜愛;
八、以上妙的香具佈施,恒常能得到旃檀(candana)之香,受用和供養;
九、以上好的美味佈施,能得到美味中的上味,充盈滋養身體;
十、如法尊重地佈施,能得到安穩快樂,眾人喜悅相見;
十一、以廣大的心量佈施,能得到無量廣大的福報;
十二、以美食佈施,能遠離飢餓,倉庫充盈;
十三、以漿飲佈施,能得到所往之處沒有飢渴;
十四、以衣服佈施,能得到上妙的衣服,莊嚴身相;
十五、以住處佈施,能得到田地住宅寬廣,樓閣莊嚴;
十六、以臥具佈施,能得到出生于尊貴家族,資財器具光鮮潔凈;
十七、以象、馬、車輦佈施,能得到四神足(catvari-rddhi-padani),沒有阻礙的奇妙作用;
【English Translation】 English version 'The Buddha Speaks of Generosity Sutra'
Translated by Dharma Master Fa Xian, Minister of the Honglu Temple and Grand Master of Mingjiao, under Imperial Decree
Thus have I heard:
At one time, the Buddha was in Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Park (Jetavana-Anathapindika-arama), in Shravasti (Sravasti), speaking the Dharma of generosity to a large assembly of Bhikshus. There are thirty-seven kinds:

By giving with a sincere heart of faith, one will be free from the jealousy of others and be respected by people;
-
By giving at the right time, one will attain purity of the three karmas (body, speech, and mind) and peace in all four seasons;
-
By constantly giving, one will attain physical and mental well-being, without distraction or loss;
-
By giving with one's own hands, one will attain long, slender fingers and a dignified appearance;
-
By giving for others, one will again receive great generosity from others;
-
By giving according to the teachings, with a mind detached from appearances, one will attain the blessings of non-action (wuwei);
-
By giving beautiful colors and implements, one will attain a dignified and beautiful appearance, beloved by all;
-
By giving excellent incense and implements, one will always receive and enjoy the fragrance of sandalwood (candana);
-
By giving excellent flavors, one will attain the best of flavors, nourishing the body;
-
By giving with proper respect, one will attain peace and happiness, and be joyfully seen by all;
-
By giving with a vast mind, one will attain immeasurable and vast blessings;
-
By giving delicious food, one will be free from famine and have overflowing storehouses;
-
By giving beverages, one will be free from hunger and thirst wherever one goes;
-
By giving clothing, one will attain excellent garments, adorning one's appearance;
-
By giving dwellings, one will attain spacious fields and houses, and magnificent buildings;
-
By giving bedding, one will be born into noble families, with clean and bright possessions;
-
By giving elephants, horses, and carriages, one will attain the four supernatural powers (catvari-rddhi-padani), with unobstructed and wonderful functions;
十八、以湯藥施,得安隱快樂,無諸疾病;
十九、以經法施,得宿命等通;
二十、以花果施,得七覺支花;
二十一、以花鬘施,得脫貪、瞋、癡垢;
二十二、以香施,得離煩惱臭穢;
二十三、以傘蓋施,得法自在;
二十四、以鈴鐸施,得言音美妙;
二十五、以音樂施,得梵音深妙;
二十六、以然燈施,得天眼清凈;
二十七、以繒彩、疋帛施,得解脫衣服;
二十八、以香水灑如來塔廟;
二十九、以香水浴如來身;
三十、以香油塗飾佛像,共得三十二相、八十種好;
三十一、以香水施浴眾僧,得富貴家生,少病安樂;
三十二、以慈心施,得顏貌和悅,無諸瞋恨;
三十三、以悲心施,得離殺害;
三十四、以喜心施,得無所畏,遠離憂惱;
三十五、以舍心施,得離掛礙,證寂滅樂;
三十六、以種種施,得種種福;
三十七、以無住無相心施,得無上正等正覺。
佛告諸苾芻:「如是三十七種,智者所行,微妙施行,汝今受持。」
爾時舍衛國王白佛言:「世尊!我等云何而行佈施?」
佛言:「大王!若求勝妙福報而行施時,慈心不殺
【現代漢語翻譯】 現代漢語譯本 十八、以湯藥佈施,能獲得安穩快樂,沒有各種疾病。 十九、以經書法佈施,能獲得知曉宿命等神通。 二十、以鮮花水果佈施,能獲得七覺支(saptabodhyanga)之花。 二十一、以花鬘(huaman)佈施,能脫離貪婪、嗔恨、愚癡的垢染。 二十二、以香佈施,能遠離煩惱的臭穢。 二十三、以傘蓋佈施,能獲得對佛法的自在。 二十四、以鈴鐸(lingduo)佈施,能獲得美妙的言語聲音。 二十五、以音樂佈施,能獲得深奧微妙的梵音。 二十六、以點燈佈施,能獲得清凈的天眼。 二十七、以繒彩(zengcai)、疋帛(pibo)佈施,能獲得解脫的衣服。 二十八、以香水灑在如來(Tathagata)的塔廟上。 二十九、以香水沐浴如來之身。 三十、以香油塗飾佛像,共同獲得三十二相(lakshana)、八十種好(anuvyanjana)。 三十一、以香水佈施沐浴眾僧,能出生在富貴之家,少病安樂。 三十二、以慈悲心佈施,能獲得和悅的容貌,沒有各種嗔恨。 三十三、以悲憫心佈施,能遠離殺害。 三十四、以喜悅心佈施,能獲得無所畏懼,遠離憂愁煩惱。 三十五、以捨棄心佈施,能脫離牽掛障礙,證得寂滅之樂。 三十六、以種種方式佈施,能獲得種種福報。 三十七、以不住相的無相心佈施,能獲得無上正等正覺(anuttara-samyak-sambodhi)。 佛陀告訴各位比丘(bhiksu): 『像這樣三十七種,是智者所應奉行的,微妙的佈施行,你們現在應當接受並奉持。』 當時舍衛國(Sravasti)國王稟告佛陀說:『世尊!我們應該如何實行佈施呢?』 佛陀說:『大王!如果爲了追求殊勝美妙的福報而行佈施時,應當懷有慈悲心,不殺生。
【English Translation】 English version 18. By giving medicine, one obtains peace, happiness, and freedom from all diseases. 19. By giving scriptures, one obtains the power to know past lives and other supernatural abilities. 20. By giving flowers and fruits, one obtains the flowers of the seven factors of enlightenment (saptabodhyanga). 21. By giving garlands (huaman), one is freed from the defilements of greed, hatred, and delusion. 22. By giving incense, one is freed from the foul odor of afflictions. 23. By giving umbrellas, one obtains freedom in the Dharma. 24. By giving bells (lingduo), one obtains beautiful speech and voice. 25. By giving music, one obtains profound and subtle Brahma-like sounds. 26. By giving light, one obtains pure divine eyes. 27. By giving silks and cloths (zengcai, pibo), one obtains clothes of liberation. 28. By sprinkling fragrant water on the stupas and temples of the Tathagata (Tathagata). 29. By bathing the body of the Tathagata with fragrant water. 30. By applying fragrant oil to adorn Buddha images, one jointly obtains the thirty-two major marks (lakshana) and eighty minor marks (anuvyanjana). 31. By giving fragrant water to bathe the Sangha, one is born into wealthy families, with few illnesses and much happiness. 32. By giving with a compassionate heart, one obtains a pleasant countenance, free from all hatred. 33. By giving with a heart of sorrow (for others), one is freed from killing. 34. By giving with a joyful heart, one obtains fearlessness and freedom from worry and distress. 35. By giving with a heart of equanimity, one is freed from attachments and attains the bliss of Nirvana. 36. By giving in various ways, one obtains various blessings. 37. By giving with a non-abiding and non-attached mind, one obtains unsurpassed complete and perfect enlightenment (anuttara-samyak-sambodhi). The Buddha told the bhikshus (bhiksu): 'These thirty-seven types of subtle giving are practiced by the wise. You should now receive and uphold them.' At that time, King Sravasti (Sravasti) said to the Buddha: 'World Honored One! How should we practice giving?' The Buddha said: 'Great King! If you seek supreme and wonderful blessings through giving, you should have a compassionate heart and not kill.'
,離諸嫉妒;正見相應,遠於不善;堅持禁戒,親近善友;閉惡趣門,開生天路;自利利他,其心平等。若如是施,是真佈施,是大福田。複次行施,隨自心願,獲其報應。或以妙色、名香、珍味、軟觸,親手佈施,得眾人尊重、眷屬圓滿、富貴安樂之報;或以飲食佈施,而得大力;或以酥油之燈佈施,而得天眼;或以音樂佈施,而得天耳;或以湯藥佈施,而得長壽;或以住處佈施,而得樓閣、田園;或以法說佈施,而得甘露。」
佛言:「大王!若以十善行施,復得十種報應。十善者:不殺生、不偷盜、不淫慾、不妄語、不綺語、不惡口、不兩舌、不貪、不瞋、不癡而得命不中夭,財無散失,眷屬清潔,所言誠諦,離諸嫉妒,人所喜見,親友和睦,不墮貧賤,顏貌端正,智慧相應,獲報如是。」
佛言:「大王!若以上妙飲食供養三寶,得五種利益:身相端嚴、氣力增盛、壽命延長、快樂安隱、成就辯才。如是南贍部洲一切眾生——父母、妻子、男女眷屬——如上佈施,隨愿所求,無不圓滿。」
說此法已,皆大歡喜,作禮而退。
佛說佈施經
【現代漢語翻譯】 現代漢語譯本:遠離各種嫉妒;以正見相應,遠離不善;堅持戒律,親近善友;關閉通往惡道的門,開啟通往天界的道路;自利利他,心懷平等。如果這樣佈施,才是真正的佈施,是廣大的福田。進一步說,行佈施,隨著自己的心願,獲得相應的報應。或者以美妙的顏色、名貴的香氣、珍貴的美味、柔軟的觸感,親手佈施,得到眾人尊重、眷屬圓滿、富貴安樂的果報;或者以飲食佈施,而得到大力氣;或者以酥油燈佈施,而得到天眼;或者以音樂佈施,而得到天耳;或者以湯藥佈施,而得到長壽;或者以住所佈施,而得到樓閣、田園;或者以佛法開示佈施,而得到甘露。
佛說:『大王!如果以十善業行佈施,又會得到十種報應。十善就是:不殺生、不偷盜、不邪淫、不妄語、不綺語、不惡口、不兩舌、不貪婪、不嗔恨、不愚癡,從而得到不夭折的壽命,財富不散失,眷屬清凈,所說誠實可信,遠離各種嫉妒,人人都喜歡見到,親友和睦,不墮入貧賤,容貌端正,智慧相應,獲得的果報就是這樣。』
佛說:『大王!如果以上等的美味飲食供養三寶(佛、法、僧),可以得到五種利益:身相端正莊嚴、氣力增盛、壽命延長、快樂安穩、成就辯才。像這樣,南贍部洲(Jambudvipa,我們所居住的大陸)的一切眾生——父母、妻子、男女眷屬——如果按照以上方法佈施,隨著願望所求,沒有不圓滿的。』
說完這些佛法,大家都非常歡喜,行禮後退下。
《佛說佈施經》
【English Translation】 English version: Free from all jealousy; in accordance with right view, far from unwholesomeness; upholding precepts, associating with good friends; closing the gates to evil destinies, opening the path to heavenly realms; benefiting oneself and others, with a mind of equanimity. If one gives in this way, it is true giving, a vast field of merit. Furthermore, when giving, according to one's own wishes, one obtains corresponding rewards. Or, by giving beautiful colors, precious fragrances, exquisite flavors, soft touches, with one's own hands, one obtains the reward of being respected by all, having a complete family, and enjoying wealth and happiness; or by giving food, one obtains great strength; or by giving ghee lamps, one obtains the divine eye; or by giving music, one obtains the divine ear; or by giving medicinal soup, one obtains longevity; or by giving dwellings, one obtains mansions and fields; or by giving Dharma teachings, one obtains nectar.
The Buddha said: 'Great King! If one gives with the ten wholesome actions, one will also receive ten kinds of rewards. The ten wholesome actions are: not killing, not stealing, not engaging in sexual misconduct, not lying, not engaging in frivolous speech, not using harsh language, not engaging in divisive speech, not being greedy, not being hateful, and not being ignorant, thereby obtaining a life not cut short, wealth not scattered, a pure family, truthful speech, freedom from all jealousy, being pleasing to see, harmonious friends and relatives, not falling into poverty, an upright appearance, and corresponding wisdom. The rewards obtained are like this.'
The Buddha said: 'Great King! If one offers excellent food to the Triple Gem (Buddha, Dharma, Sangha), one can obtain five benefits: an upright and dignified appearance, increased strength, extended lifespan, happiness and peace, and accomplishment of eloquence. In this way, all beings in Jambudvipa (the continent we live on) – parents, wives, male and female relatives – if they give according to the above methods, whatever they wish for will be fulfilled.'
Having spoken this Dharma, everyone was very happy, paid their respects, and withdrew.
'The Sutra on Giving Spoken by the Buddha'
