西天譯經三藏朝奉大夫試光祿卿傳法大師賜紫沙門臣施護等奉 詔譯

如是我聞:

一時佛在舍衛國祇樹給孤獨園,與苾芻眾俱。

是時佛告諸苾芻言:「汝等當知,如來、應供、正等正覺有十種力,具是力者,即能了知廣大勝處,于大眾中作師子吼,轉妙梵輪。何等為十?所謂如來於一切處如實了知,一切非處亦如實知。由實知故,是為如來第一處非處智力。如來、應供、正等正覺具是力者,即能了知廣大勝處,于大眾中作師子吼,轉妙梵輪。

「複次,如來於過去、未來、現在一切有情諸所作業,若事若處、若因若報,皆如實知。由實知故,是為如來第二業智力。如來、應供、正等正覺具是力者,即能了知廣大勝處,于大眾中作師子吼,轉妙梵輪。

「複次,如來於諸禪定解脫三摩地、三摩缽底,若染若凈、諸定分位,皆如實知。由實知故,是為如來第三定智力。如來、應供、正等正覺具是力者,即能了知廣大勝處,于大眾中作師子吼,轉妙梵輪。

「複次,如來於諸有情,若自若他種種根性皆如實知。由實知故,是為如來第四根智力

這時,佛告訴眾比丘說:『你們應當知道,如來(Tathāgata)、應供(Arhat)、正等正覺(Samyaksambuddha)有十種力量,具備這些力量的人,就能完全瞭解廣大的殊勝之處,在大眾中發出獅子吼,轉動微妙的梵輪(Brahma-cakra)。哪十種呢?就是如來在一切處所都能如實地了知,一切非處所也能如實地了知。由於如實地了知,這就是如來的第一種處非處智力。如來、應供、正等正覺具備這種力量,就能完全瞭解廣大的殊勝之處,在大眾中發出獅子吼,轉動微妙的梵輪。

『再者,如來對於過去、未來、現在一切有情眾生所做的一切業,無論是事、處、因、報,都能如實地了知。由於如實地了知,這就是如來的第二種業智力。如來、應供、正等正覺具備這種力量,就能完全瞭解廣大的殊勝之處,在大眾中發出獅子吼,轉動微妙的梵輪。

『再者,如來對於各種禪定(dhyāna)、解脫(vimoksha)、三摩地(samādhi)、三摩缽底(samāpatti),無論是染污的還是清凈的,各種禪定的層次和階段,都能如實地了知。由於如實地了知,這就是如來的第三種定智力。如來、應供、正等正覺具備這種力量,就能完全瞭解廣大的殊勝之處,在大眾中發出獅子吼,轉動微妙的梵輪。

『再者,如來對於各種有情眾生,無論是自己的還是他人的,各種不同的根性,都能如實地了知。由於如實地了知,這就是如來的第四種根智力。

【English Translation】 English version The Buddha Speaks the Sutra of the Ten Powers of the Buddha

Translated by the Tripitaka Master Shi Hu, the Purple-Robed Shramana, Grand Master of Transmitting the Dharma, Attendant of the Imperial Court, Acting Vice President of the Court of Imperial Sacrifices, from the Western Regions, under Imperial Decree

Thus have I heard:

At one time, the Buddha was in Śrāvastī (舍衛國), at the Jetavana Anathapindika-arama (祇樹給孤獨園), together with a gathering of bhikshus (苾芻).

At that time, the Buddha told the bhikshus, 'You should know that the Tathāgata (如來), Arhat (應供), Samyaksambuddha (正等正覺) has ten powers. One who possesses these powers can fully understand the vast and excellent places, roar like a lion in the assembly, and turn the wonderful Brahma-cakra (梵輪). What are the ten? They are that the Tathāgata can truly know all places, and can also truly know all non-places. Because of truly knowing, this is the Tathāgata's first power of knowing what is and is not possible. The Tathāgata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha, possessing this power, can fully understand the vast and excellent places, roar like a lion in the assembly, and turn the wonderful Brahma-cakra.

'Furthermore, the Tathāgata truly knows all the karma done by all sentient beings in the past, future, and present, whether it be the event, the place, the cause, or the result. Because of truly knowing, this is the Tathāgata's second power of knowledge of karma. The Tathāgata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha, possessing this power, can fully understand the vast and excellent places, roar like a lion in the assembly, and turn the wonderful Brahma-cakra.

'Furthermore, the Tathāgata truly knows all the dhyāna (禪定), vimoksha (解脫), samādhi (三摩地), and samāpatti (三摩缽底), whether defiled or pure, and the various levels and stages of these meditations. Because of truly knowing, this is the Tathāgata's third power of knowledge of meditation. The Tathāgata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha, possessing this power, can fully understand the vast and excellent places, roar like a lion in the assembly, and turn the wonderful Brahma-cakra.

'Furthermore, the Tathāgata truly knows the various faculties of all sentient beings, whether their own or others'. Because of truly knowing, this is the Tathāgata's fourth power of knowledge of faculties.'


。如來、應供、正等正覺具是力者,即能了知廣大勝處,于大眾中作師子吼,轉妙梵輪。

「複次,如來於諸有情種種信解,皆如實知。由實知故,是為如來第五信解智力。如來、應供、正等正覺具是力者,即能了知廣大勝處,于大眾中作師子吼,轉妙梵輪。

「複次,如來於種種界無數界性,皆如實知。由實知故,是為如來第六界性智力。如來、應供、正等正覺具是力者,即能了知廣大勝處,于大眾中作師子吼,轉妙梵輪。

「複次,如來於一切至處道,皆如實知。由實知故,是為如來第七至處道智力。如來、應供、正等正覺具是力者,即能了知廣大勝處,于大眾中作師子吼,轉妙梵輪。

「複次,如來於無數種宿住隨念,所謂一生二生,三四五生,或十二十,乃至百生千生,無數百千生中,百千成劫壞劫,成壞等事,我在彼有情中隨所生處,如是名字、如是種姓、如是族氏、如是飲食苦樂、如是壽量長短分限,壽命盡已於某處生,此滅彼生、彼滅此生,此等事相緣法方處,無數種類,宿住隨念皆如實知。由實知故,是為如來第八宿住隨念智力。如來、應供、正等正覺具是力者,即能了知廣大勝處,于大眾中作師子吼,轉妙梵輪。

「複次,如來清凈天眼,過於人眼,觀見世間一切

【English Translation】 English version: The Tathagata (Tathagata, one of the titles of the Buddha), the Arhat (Arhat, one worthy of offerings), the Samyaksambuddha (Samyaksambuddha, the fully enlightened one), possessing these powers, is able to fully know the vast and excellent places, roar like a lion in the assembly, and turn the wonderful Dharma wheel (Dharmachakra, the wheel of Dharma). 『Furthermore, the Tathagata truly knows the various beliefs and understandings of all sentient beings. Because of this true knowledge, this is the fifth power of knowledge of faith and understanding of the Tathagata. The Tathagata, the Arhat, the Samyaksambuddha, possessing these powers, is able to fully know the vast and excellent places, roar like a lion in the assembly, and turn the wonderful Dharma wheel. 『Furthermore, the Tathagata truly knows the various realms (dhatu, elements constituting existence) and the nature of countless realms. Because of this true knowledge, this is the sixth power of knowledge of the nature of realms of the Tathagata. The Tathagata, the Arhat, the Samyaksambuddha, possessing these powers, is able to fully know the vast and excellent places, roar like a lion in the assembly, and turn the wonderful Dharma wheel. 『Furthermore, the Tathagata truly knows all the paths to all destinations. Because of this true knowledge, this is the seventh power of knowledge of the paths to destinations of the Tathagata. The Tathagata, the Arhat, the Samyaksambuddha, possessing these powers, is able to fully know the vast and excellent places, roar like a lion in the assembly, and turn the wonderful Dharma wheel. 『Furthermore, the Tathagata is able to recall countless kinds of past lives, such as one life, two lives, three lives, four lives, five lives, or ten lives, twenty lives, even hundreds of lives, thousands of lives, countless hundreds of thousands of lives, hundreds of thousands of cycles of formation (kalpa, period of cosmic formation) and destruction (kalpa, period of cosmic destruction), the events of formation and destruction, etc. In that sentient being, according to the place of birth, such was the name, such was the lineage, such was the clan, such was the food and drink, such was the suffering and happiness, such was the length of life, having exhausted the lifespan, born in a certain place, this ceasing and that arising, that ceasing and this arising, these aspects of events, causes and conditions, laws, directions, countless kinds, the recollection of past lives is truly known. Because of this true knowledge, this is the eighth power of knowledge of recollection of past lives of the Tathagata. The Tathagata, the Arhat, the Samyaksambuddha, possessing these powers, is able to fully know the vast and excellent places, roar like a lion in the assembly, and turn the wonderful Dharma wheel. 『Furthermore, the Tathagata has pure divine eyes, surpassing human eyes, and can see all of the world.


有情生時滅時,若好若丑、若貴若賤,若生善趣、若生惡趣,隨所作業如實知見。若諸有情身語意業作不善行,譭謗賢聖、起諸邪見,邪見業法合集為因,以彼因緣身壞命終,墮在惡趣地獄中生。若諸有情身語意業作諸善行,不謗賢聖、起于正見,正見業法合集為因,以彼因緣身壞命終,在於善趣天界中生。如是等事,皆如實知。由實知故,是為如來第九天眼智力。如來、應供、正等正覺具是力者,即能了知廣大勝處,于大眾中作師子吼,轉妙梵輪。

「複次,如來所有諸漏已盡,非漏隨增,心善解脫、慧善解脫,見如是法智證自果,我生已盡,梵行已立,所作已辦,不受後有,皆如實知。由實知故,是為如來第十漏盡智力。如來、應供、正等正覺具是力者,即能了知廣大勝處,于大眾中作師子吼,轉妙梵輪。」

佛說此經已,諸苾芻眾聞佛所說,皆大歡喜,信受奉行。

【English Translation】 English version: When sentient beings are born and die, whether beautiful or ugly, noble or lowly, whether born in a good realm or a bad realm, the Tathagata truly knows and sees their actions as they are. If some sentient beings perform unwholesome deeds with body, speech, and mind, slander the virtuous and sages, and generate various wrong views, these wrong views and unwholesome karma combine as a cause. Because of these causes, when their bodies break and their lives end, they will fall into the evil realm and be born in hell. If some sentient beings perform wholesome deeds with body, speech, and mind, do not slander the virtuous and sages, and generate right views, these right views and wholesome karma combine as a cause. Because of these causes, when their bodies break and their lives end, they will be born in the good realm and in the heavens. The Tathagata truly knows all these things as they are. Because of this true knowledge, this is the ninth power of the Tathagata's divine eye. The Tathagata (Tathagata, one of the titles of the Buddha), Arhat (Arhat, one who is worthy of offerings), Samyaksambuddha (Samyaksambuddha, the fully enlightened one) who possesses this power can understand the vast and excellent places, roar like a lion in the assembly, and turn the wonderful Dharma wheel (Dharmacakra, the wheel of Dharma). 『Furthermore, all the defilements (Kleshas) of the Tathagata have been exhausted, and no further defilements will arise. The mind is well liberated, and wisdom is well liberated. Through wisdom, he realizes such Dharma and personally experiences the result, knowing that I have ended rebirth, pure conduct has been established, what needs to be done has been done, and I will no longer receive future retribution. The Tathagata truly knows all these things as they are. Because of this true knowledge, this is the tenth power of the Tathagata's exhaustion of defilements. The Tathagata (Tathagata, one of the titles of the Buddha), Arhat (Arhat, one who is worthy of offerings), Samyaksambuddha (Samyaksambuddha, the fully enlightened one) who possesses this power can understand the vast and excellent places, roar like a lion in the assembly, and turn the wonderful Dharma wheel (Dharmacakra, the wheel of Dharma).』 After the Buddha finished speaking this sutra, all the Bhikkhus (Bhikkhus) heard what the Buddha said, and they were all very happy, accepted it with faith, and practiced accordingly.
