佛說無上處經

失譯人今,附東晉錄

如是我聞:

一時,佛在舍衛國祇樹給孤獨園。

爾時,世尊告諸比丘:「有三無上處,汝等諦聽,當爲汝說。」

諸比丘白佛:「唯然受教。」

佛告比丘:「三無上處者:一、佛無上處;二、法無上處;三、僧無上處。若諸眾生,兩足、四足、無足、多足,若色、無色,想、無想、非想非無想,如來於中說無上處。

「諸比丘!若有眾生,能于佛無上處起信向心者,于天人中得無上果報。諸比丘!是名初無上處。

「複次,諸比丘!于有為無為、色無色法,離欲法為無上處。諸比丘!若有眾生,能於此法無上處,起信向心者,于天人中得無上果報。諸比丘!是名第二無上處。

「複次,諸比丘!僧無上處者,若僧若群、若叢聚、若徒眾中,如來弟子僧為無上處。諸比丘!若有眾生,能於此僧無上處,起信向心者,于天人中得無上果報。是名三無上處。」

時諸比丘,聞佛所說,歡喜奉行。

爾時,世尊告訴諸位比丘:『有三種無上處,你們仔細聽,我當爲你們解說。』

諸位比丘稟告佛陀:『好的,我們願意聽受教誨。』

佛陀告訴比丘們:『這三種無上處是:一、佛無上處;二、法無上處;三、僧無上處。如果各種眾生,無論是兩足、四足、無足、多足,無論是有色、無色,有想、無想、非想非非想,如來在這些眾生中宣說無上處。

『諸位比丘!如果有的眾生,能對佛無上處生起信心和嚮往之心,那麼在天界和人間就能得到無上的果報。諸位比丘!這叫做第一種無上處。

『再者,諸位比丘!在有為法和無為法、有色法和無色法中,離欲之法是無上處。諸位比丘!如果有的眾生,能對此法無上處生起信心和嚮往之心,那麼在天界和人間就能得到無上的果報。諸位比丘!這叫做第二種無上處。

『再者,諸位比丘!僧無上處是指,無論僧團、群體、聚集、徒眾中,如來的弟子僧是無上處。諸位比丘!如果有的眾生,能對此僧無上處生起信心和嚮往之心,那麼在天界和人間就能得到無上的果報。這叫做第三種無上處。』

當時,諸位比丘聽聞佛陀所說,歡喜地接受並奉行。

【English Translation】 English version The Sutra on the Supreme Abodes Spoken by the Buddha

Thus have I heard:

At one time, the Buddha was in the Jetavana Anathapindika-arama (祇樹給孤獨園) in Shravasti (舍衛國).

At that time, the World-Honored One told the bhikshus (比丘): 'There are three supreme abodes. Listen carefully, and I will explain them to you.'

The bhikshus said to the Buddha: 'Yes, we will receive your teachings.'

The Buddha told the bhikshus: 'The three supreme abodes are: first, the Buddha's supreme abode; second, the Dharma's (法) supreme abode; and third, the Sangha's (僧) supreme abode. Among all beings, whether two-legged, four-legged, legless, or many-legged, whether with form, without form, with thought, without thought, neither with thought nor without thought, the Tathagata (如來) speaks of the supreme abode.

'Bhikshus! If there are beings who can generate faith and aspiration towards the Buddha's supreme abode, they will obtain supreme karmic rewards among gods and humans. Bhikshus! This is called the first supreme abode.'

'Furthermore, bhikshus! Among conditioned (有為) and unconditioned (無為) dharmas (法), and dharmas with form (色) and without form (無色), the Dharma of detachment from desire is the supreme abode. Bhikshus! If there are beings who can generate faith and aspiration towards this Dharma's supreme abode, they will obtain supreme karmic rewards among gods and humans. Bhikshus! This is called the second supreme abode.'

'Furthermore, bhikshus! The Sangha's supreme abode refers to the Sangha of the Tathagata's disciples as the supreme abode, whether in a Sangha, a group, a gathering, or a multitude. Bhikshus! If there are beings who can generate faith and aspiration towards this Sangha's supreme abode, they will obtain supreme karmic rewards among gods and humans. This is called the third supreme abode.'

At that time, the bhikshus, having heard what the Buddha said, joyfully accepted and practiced it.
