爾時,有菩薩摩訶薩,其名大意,于眾會中即從座起,嚴整衣服,合掌恭敬頂禮佛足,前白佛言:「世尊!諸修菩薩行者,於五欲境作何方便取而不著,雖復常行,無所障礙?」
爾時,佛告大意菩薩言:「善哉,善哉。大意!汝名最上,見最上義,能于眾中問如是事。諸修菩薩行者,未來世中於諸佛所深種善根,如是名為善巧方便,即得諸佛共所建立。」
是時,大意菩薩復白佛言:「世尊!諸修菩薩行者,未來世中雲何于諸佛所深種善根?唯愿世尊利樂一切眾生,廣為宣說。」
佛言:「善男子!汝今諦聽,當爲汝說。若有人行少分施,能起增上,廣為一切眾生最勝善心,所獲功德迴向一切眾生,如是善利無有窮盡。譬如天雨降霔大海,一一水滴數不可知,相續流注無有窮盡。行佈施者善巧迴向一切眾生所有功德亦復如是,資諸善法展轉增勝亦復無盡,乃至成佛,眾善圓滿。
「複次,大意!若復有人見有曼拏羅處施以一香,作是施時當起是意:『普愿一切眾生得最上戒

The Buddha Speaks of the Great Vaipulya Never-Before-Seen Sutra: Skillful Means Chapter
Translated by Tripiṭaka Dharma Master Śīlapāla, Great Officer of Court for Imperial Sacrifices, Acting Vice President of the Court of Imperial Sacrifices, under Imperial Decree At that time, there was a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva (a great Bodhisattva among Bodhisattvas) named Great Intent, who rose from his seat in the assembly, adjusted his robes, respectfully joined his palms, prostrated at the Buddha's feet, and stepped forward to say to the Buddha: 'World-Honored One! How do those who cultivate the Bodhisattva path skillfully engage with the five desires (form, sound, smell, taste, and touch) so that they acquire without attachment, and though constantly engaged, remain without obstruction?' At that time, the Buddha said to the Bodhisattva Great Intent: 'Excellent, excellent. Great Intent! Your name is most supreme, and your understanding is most supreme, that you are able to ask such a question in the assembly. Those who cultivate the Bodhisattva path will, in future lives, deeply plant roots of goodness at the Buddhas' places; this is called skillful means, and they will attain the common establishment of all Buddhas.' At this time, the Bodhisattva Great Intent again said to the Buddha: 'World-Honored One! How do those who cultivate the Bodhisattva path deeply plant roots of goodness at the Buddhas' places in future lives? May the World-Honored One, for the benefit and happiness of all beings, widely expound this for us.' The Buddha said: 'Good man! Listen attentively now, and I will explain it to you. If someone performs even a small act of giving, and is able to generate an increasing and supreme mind, broadly generating the most excellent good mind for all beings, and dedicates the merits obtained to all beings, such benefits will be inexhaustible. For example, like the rain falling heavily into the great ocean, each drop of water is countless, continuously flowing without end. The one who practices giving, skillfully dedicating the merits to all beings, is also like this; supporting all good dharmas, progressively increasing and excelling without end, until finally becoming a Buddha, with all good deeds perfected.' 'Furthermore, Great Intent! If someone sees a Mandala (sacred enclosure) and offers a single incense stick, when making this offering, they should generate this thought: 'May all beings universally attain the supreme precepts.'
香,具足一切樂具,皆得如意。』
「若施一華,普愿一切眾生當於天上人間平等受大供養。
「若施一燈,普愿一切眾生開諸盲目,消除暝暗,得大明照,如日月光。

【English Translation】 English version May all beings enjoy the heavenly wealth and happiness, and may every place be the supreme and most excellent Vajra seat (Diamond Throne).
'If one offers bedding, may all beings attain the supreme joy and comfort.'
'If one offers monasteries and dwellings, may all beings reside in heavenly, delightful, and wonderful jeweled pavilions, and may they fully possess the four kinds of supernatural powers (four divine abodes).'
'If one offers open land, may all beings attain the abode of the supreme and wonderful Ten Grounds (Dashabhumika), and quickly reach the supreme and perfect Buddha-bhumi (Buddha Ground).'

『If one is enjoying the pleasures of the five desires, one should generate this thought: 『May all sentient beings universally obtain fulfillment of their desires, and may all be endowed with the supreme practices of a Bodhisattva (bodhisattva).』
『If one is bathing, one should generate this thought: 『May all sentient beings universally be free from all defilements, be pure and undefiled, and be equal to all the Buddhas (buddha).』
『If one is entering gardens, monasteries, or any other places, one should generate this thought: 『May all sentient beings universally gain entry into the supreme Dharma (dharma) gate of liberation.』
『If one is leaving any place, one should generate this thought: 『May all sentient beings universally escape the bounds of samsara (saṃsāra), and abide in the Dharma of bliss.』

「若處戲笑、歌樂、讚詠,當起是意:『普愿一切眾生常大歡喜,受諸富樂,自在適悅。』
「若睡眠時當起是意:『普愿一切眾生起最上心,出離無智塵暗淤泥,諸有所作得佛建立,住圓滿智。』
「若經行時當起是意:『普愿一切眾生常得履諸聖道。』」
爾時,大意菩薩聞說是法,生大歡喜,復白佛言:「善哉,世尊!善說此法,能令一切修菩薩行者所有身、語、意業如善所作,常得諸佛共所攝受,所有惡趣一切眾生得佛救度。
「世尊!於後末世修菩薩行者,如佛所說善巧方便應如是行,是即名為修菩薩行。」
佛言:「大意!如是,如是。諸修菩薩行者若如是學,即得信心堅固,不復退轉,種子具足,出生現行。大意當知:此即名為菩薩勝相,復為最上善巧方便。汝等於此正法當勤修習,為人演說。」
爾時,大意菩薩摩訶薩聞佛說是法已,歡喜稱讚,禮世尊足,退住一面。

當時,大意菩薩摩訶薩(Mahamati Bodhisattva-Mahasattva)聽到佛說這個法后,歡喜稱讚,禮拜世尊的腳,退到一旁站立。
佛說大方廣未曾有經善巧方便品
【English Translation】 English version: 『The wisdom of all Buddhas is unimpeded in eloquence.』
『If in places of play, laughter, song, music, and praise, one should generate this thought: 『May all beings constantly have great joy, receive all riches and happiness, and be comfortable and pleased at ease.』
『If sleeping, one should generate this thought: 『May all beings generate the supreme mind, escape from the mud of ignorance, dust, and darkness, have all their actions established by the Buddha, and abide in perfect wisdom.』
『If walking, one should generate this thought: 『May all beings constantly walk on all the holy paths.』
At that time, Mahamati Bodhisattva, hearing this Dharma, generated great joy and said to the Buddha: 『Excellent, World Honored One! Well spoken is this Dharma, which enables all those who practice the Bodhisattva path to have all their actions of body, speech, and mind be well done, constantly receive the support of all Buddhas, and have all beings in the evil realms be saved by the Buddha.』
『World Honored One! In the future, in the degenerate age, those who practice the Bodhisattva path should practice according to the skillful means spoken by the Buddha. This is called practicing the Bodhisattva path.』
The Buddha said: 『Mahamati, it is so, it is so. If those who practice the Bodhisattva path learn in this way, they will obtain firm faith, no longer regress, have complete seeds, and manifest actions. Mahamati, you should know that this is called the excellent characteristic of a Bodhisattva, and it is also the supreme skillful means. You should diligently practice this Dharma and explain it to others.』
At that time, Mahamati Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, hearing the Buddha speak this Dharma, joyfully praised, bowed at the feet of the World Honored One, and withdrew to stand on one side.
