聞如是:
一時,佛在王舍城靈鳥山中,時與大比丘眾千二百五十人、菩薩千人俱,皆如彌勒菩薩等。
佛告舍利弗:「東方去是過一恒沙,有佛剎,佛號快樂如來、無所著、等正覺,今現在說法,國土名不可勝。
「舍利弗!東方去是過二恒沙有佛剎,佛號月英幢王如來、無所著、等正覺,今現在說法,國土名歡樂。
「舍利弗!東方去是過三恒沙有佛剎,佛號等遍明如來、無所著、等正覺,今現在說法,國土名喜愛。
「舍利弗!東方去是過四恒沙有佛剎,佛號分別過出清凈如來、無所著、等正覺,今現在說法,國土名內噲。
「舍利弗!東方去是過五恒沙有佛剎,佛號等功德明首如來、無所著、等正覺,今現在說法,國土名無狐疑。
「舍利弗!東方去是過六恒沙有佛剎,佛號本草樹首如來、無所著、等正覺,今現在說法,國土名無毒螫。
「舍利弗!東方去是過七恒沙有佛剎,佛號過寶蓮華如來、無所著、等正覺,今現在說法,國土名蓮華香。

【English Translation】 English version Thus have I heard: At one time, the Buddha was in Mount Gṛdhrakūṭa (Vulture Peak) in Rājagṛha, together with a great assembly of twelve hundred and fifty Bhikṣus and one thousand Bodhisattvas, all of whom were like Maitreya Bodhisattva. The Buddha said to Śāriputra: 'To the east from here, passing one gaṅgā-nadī-vālukā (number of sands in the Ganges River) of worlds, there is a Buddha-kṣetra (Buddha-field), where the Buddha is named Sukha-tathāgata (The Tathāgata of Happiness), Arhat (Worthy One), Samyak-saṃbuddha (Perfectly Enlightened One), now teaching the Dharma, and the land is named Adurjaya (Invincible).' 'Śāriputra! To the east from here, passing two gaṅgā-nadī-vālukā of worlds, there is a Buddha-kṣetra, where the Buddha is named Candra-ketu-dhvaja-rāja-tathāgata (Moon Banner King Tathāgata), Arhat, Samyak-saṃbuddha, now teaching the Dharma, and the land is named Nandā (Joyful).' 'Śāriputra! To the east from here, passing three gaṅgā-nadī-vālukā of worlds, there is a Buddha-kṣetra, where the Buddha is named Samanta-prabhāsa-tathāgata (Universally Shining Tathāgata), Arhat, Samyak-saṃbuddha, now teaching the Dharma, and the land is named Priyā (Beloved).' 'Śāriputra! To the east from here, passing four gaṅgā-nadī-vālukā of worlds, there is a Buddha-kṣetra, where the Buddha is named Vibhāga-atikrānta-viśuddha-tathāgata (Discernment-Transcending Pure Tathāgata), Arhat, Samyak-saṃbuddha, now teaching the Dharma, and the land is named Antar-hṛdaya (Inner Heart).' 'Śāriputra! To the east from here, passing five gaṅgā-nadī-vālukā of worlds, there is a Buddha-kṣetra, where the Buddha is named Samanta-guṇa-prabhāsa-śira-tathāgata (Universally Virtuous Shining Head Tathāgata), Arhat, Samyak-saṃbuddha, now teaching the Dharma, and the land is named Avitarka (Without Doubt).' 'Śāriputra! To the east from here, passing six gaṅgā-nadī-vālukā of worlds, there is a Buddha-kṣetra, where the Buddha is named Mūla-oṣadhi-vṛkṣa-śira-tathāgata (Root Herb Tree Head Tathāgata), Arhat, Samyak-saṃbuddha, now teaching the Dharma, and the land is named Aviṣa-daṃśa (Without Poisonous Bites).' 'Śāriputra! To the east from here, passing seven gaṅgā-nadī-vālukā of worlds, there is a Buddha-kṣetra, where the Buddha is named Atīta-ratna-padma-tathāgata (Past Jewel Lotus Tathāgata), Arhat, Samyak-saṃbuddha, now teaching the Dharma, and the land is named Padma-gandha (Lotus Fragrance).'
弗!東方去是過八恒沙有佛剎,佛號寶樂蓮華快住樹王如來、無所著、等正覺,今現在說法,國土名甘音聲稱說。
「複次,舍利弗!諸佛如來清凈國土,彼方無五濁、無愛慾、無女人、無意垢、無咒詛、無相擇。
「複次,舍利弗!諸佛如來,若有善男子、善女人,聞是八佛名者,受持諷誦讀奉行者,終不墮三惡道,除五不中止罪。
「複次,舍利弗!是善男子、善女人,若有持是八佛名及國土名者,受持諷讀奉行之者,以是功德,若發菩薩心,所生處常遇陀鄰尼、常遇相好、常遇相音、常遇右轉福。是善男子、善女人,奉行是八佛教令,如其正行者,女人所生處轉為男子。
「複次,舍利弗!諸佛如來,是善男子、善女人,以平旦凈澡漱、正衣服,晝夜各三時奉讀是經,得功德無量,第一四天王常擁護。是善男子、善女人,若在縣官中當讀是經、若在怨家中當讀是經、若在盜賊中當讀是經、若在水火中當讀是經、若在海水中逢風浪恐怖當讀是經、若在軍兵對斗中當讀是經、若為蠱毒所中當讀是經、若聞惡鳥鳴若惡夢當讀是經、若為龍神所中當讀是經、若為諸魔所中恐怖毛起者當讀是經、若有急恐病疫疾痛者,持是八陽咒經咒之,立得除愈。」
是時,佛說要偈:
「是土無如來

【English Translation】 English version: The Buddha said, 'Shariputra, going east past eight Ganges river sands worth of Buddha lands, there is a Buddha land, the Buddha's name is Treasure Joy Lotus Flower Quick Dwelling Tree King Tathagata (Tathagata is one of the titles of the Buddha, meaning 'thus come'), without attachment (meaning without any clinging), Samyak-sambuddha (meaning perfectly correct enlightenment), now is preaching the Dharma, his land is named Sweet Sound Proclamation.' 'Furthermore, Shariputra, the pure lands of all Buddhas, there is no five turbidities (referring to the turbidity of the kalpa, views, afflictions, beings, and life), no desire, no women, no mental defilements (referring to inner impurities), no curses, no discrimination.' 'Furthermore, Shariputra, all Buddhas, if there are good men or good women, who hear the names of these eight Buddhas, and can receive, uphold, recite, read, and practice them, they will ultimately not fall into the three evil paths (referring to hell, hungry ghosts, and animal realms), unless they commit the five unpardonable offenses.' 'Furthermore, Shariputra, these good men and good women, if they can uphold the names of these eight Buddhas and the names of their lands, receiving, upholding, reciting, reading, and practicing them, with such merit, if they generate the Bodhi mind, the places where they are born will often encounter Dharani (referring to the ability to hold all dharmas), often encounter the auspicious marks (referring to the Buddha's majestic appearance), often hear beautiful sounds, and often encounter right-turning blessings. These good men and good women, who practice the teachings of these eight Buddhas, if they can practice according to the Dharma, the place where a woman is born will be transformed into a man.' 'Furthermore, Shariputra, all Buddhas, these good men and good women, after washing and cleaning themselves in the morning and arranging their clothes, if they respectfully read this sutra three times each day and night, they will obtain immeasurable merit, and the first Four Heavenly Kings (referring to the guardian deities of Buddhism) will always protect them. These good men and good women, if they are in government offices, they should read this sutra; if they are among enemies, they should read this sutra; if they are among thieves, they should read this sutra; if they are in water or fire, they should read this sutra; if they encounter terrifying storms at sea, they should read this sutra; if they are in military battles, they should read this sutra; if they are harmed by poison, they should read this sutra; if they hear the cries of evil birds or have bad dreams, they should read this sutra; if they are harmed by dragons or spirits, they should read this sutra; if they are troubled by various demons and feel fear and horror, they should read this sutra; if they have acute illnesses, plagues, or pain, by reciting the mantras of this Eight Yang Mantra Sutra, they will be immediately cured.' At that time, the Buddha spoke an important verse: 'This land has no Tathagata.'
, 持是國土名, 一切眾惡除, 疾得登正道。 所生常遇佛, 見覺大歡喜, 照是世上尊, 等心供事之。 百劫以無數, 著常當離之, 疾逮泥洹道, 奉是諸佛名, 今現諸如來, 奉行明教名。 為人樸直軟, 在在見所生, 端正相好具, 巨億萬家生。 勇猛好佈施, 為人不慳貪, 女人聞是要, 踴躍大歡喜, 去離女人身, 所生為男子。 諸兵不敢害, 蠱道亦不幸, 縣官及盜賊, 終不害是人。 五魔不能嬈, 將帥及官屬, 奉行是經者, 不能中得便。」
爾時,第一四天王、彌勒菩薩等,白佛言:「我曹當共擁護持是八陽咒經一切學者,我曹當併力擁護,病者令愈。」
佛說:「如是。」
第一四天王、彌勒菩薩等比丘眾,及諸天龍、鬼神、人民、阿須倫,聞經歡喜,為佛作禮而去。
八菩薩名:
第一名颰陀和菩薩、第二名羅那鄰竭菩薩、第三名憍曰兜菩薩、第四名那羅達菩薩、第五名須深菩薩、第六名因抵達菩薩、第七名摩訶須和薩和菩薩、第八名和輪調菩薩,是八人求道以來其劫無數,今未取佛。
是八人本俱學道時,俱愿八方、上下人民皆共使得佛。若有急者

【English Translation】 English version 'Chi' is the name of a land, which can eliminate all evils and quickly ascend to the right path. Those who are born there will often encounter the Buddha, and seeing the enlightened ones will bring great joy. They are the honored ones of the world, and should be served with equal respect. After countless eons, attachments should be abandoned, and the path to Nirvana should be quickly reached. Uphold the names of all Buddhas, and now the Tathagatas appear, practicing the teachings of the enlightened ones. They are honest and upright, gentle in nature, and wherever they are reborn, they are of handsome appearance, possessing all good qualities, and are born into families of billions. They are courageous and diligent, happy to give, and are not stingy or greedy. Women who hear these teachings will be overjoyed, abandon their female bodies, and be reborn as men. No weapons can harm them, nor can sorcery or evil ways. Officials and thieves will ultimately not be able to harm these people. The five demons cannot disturb them, nor can generals or officials. Those who practice this sutra cannot be taken advantage of. At that time, the First of the Four Heavenly Kings (the chief of the Four Heavenly Kings), Maitreya Bodhisattva, and others, said to the Buddha: 'We should jointly protect all those who study this 'Eight Yang Mantra Sutra'. We should work together to protect them, so that the sick may be healed.' The Buddha said: 'It is so.' The First of the Four Heavenly Kings, Maitreya Bodhisattva, and other monks, as well as the gods, dragons, ghosts, spirits, people, and Asuras, were all very happy upon hearing this sutra, and after bowing to the Buddha, they departed. The names of the eight Bodhisattvas: The first is Baddhaka Bodhisattva (Virtuous Protector Bodhisattva), the second is Ronalin-Gara Bodhisattva (Immaculate Treasury Bodhisattva), the third is Kyo-Yato Bodhisattva (High Peak Bodhisattva), the fourth is Narada Bodhisattva (Heavenly Arm Bodhisattva), the fifth is Su-Shen Bodhisattva (Good Deep Bodhisattva), the sixth is In-Di-Da Bodhisattva (Heavenly King Bodhisattva), the seventh is Maha-Su-He-Sa-He Bodhisattva (Great Good Harmony Bodhisattva), and the eighth is He-Lun-Tiao Bodhisattva (Subduing Bodhisattva). These eight Bodhisattvas have been seeking the path for countless eons, and have not yet attained Buddhahood. 【English Translation】 English version: When someone calls out the names of us eight, they will immediately attain liberation. If their lifespan is about to end, we eight will fly to welcome them. May the merit of holding this one word (referring to the mantra) be such that all people may be as happy and free as the eight Bodhisattvas. This is a passage from the 'Eight Yang Divine Mantra Sutra' spoken by the Buddha.
