【English Translation】 English version Susiddhikara-pūjā-vidhi (The Method of Accomplishing All Successes) Translated by Śubhakarasiṃha of the Great Tang Dynasty from Central India I pay homage to all the Tathāgatas (the 'Thus-gone' ones, Buddhas), and the Dharma (teachings) and Bodhisattvas (enlightened beings). To the Lotus and Vajra (diamond) families, and all their retinues. I will now explain according to the teachings, the methods of offering and recitation, summarizing and connecting the three families, in their proper order and correspondence. First, observe the location of the shrine, then clarify the methods of practice within it, receive the mantra (sacred utterance) from the Acharya (teacher), and learn the hand mudras (gestures). At the external entrances and exits, define the boundaries and methods of purification, sweep and clean the shrine, removing withered flowers and the like. Bathe and perform self-initiation, offer three handfuls of water, go to the shrine door, change clothes and sprinkle water on the body. Offer arghya water (water for drinking), and set up the jeweled seat, again demonstrate the samaya (vows), removing obstacles and difficulties from the body. Ward off and expel impurities, purify and brighten, protect the body and establish boundaries, in the eight directions, above and below. Initially, one should visualize the divine seat, contemplate the image of the principal deity (the main deity of practice), according to the location, invite the presence of the deity. Using the deity's mantra, after inviting the deity, immediately dispel the following demons, offer the seat and invite the deity to sit. Again demonstrate the samaya (vows), immediately offer arghya water (water for drinking), bathe the deity and offer clothing, then offer scented paste and flowers. Burn incense and offer food, light lamps for offering, using mantras and mudras, offer with heartfelt intention. Facing and receiving the mantra and mudra, refers to the recipient of the Dharma bathing and purifying themselves, wearing new and clean clothes, in a clean place, kneeling respectfully, facing the Acharya, personally receiving the mantra and learning the mudra. At this time, the Acharya first recites it three times, and then transmits it to them. After receiving it, they recite it three times themselves, deeply rejoicing, and reverently upholding it. This is facing and receiving. According to one's ability, make offerings to the Acharya. Only after fully understanding the meaning of the Dharma can one perform this recitation sequence.
Going out and entering places, refers to after getting up in the morning, the unclean places one goes to, one should use the impure wrathful mantra to protect oneself. The mantra is:

The shape of the mudra is, make a fist with the right hand, straighten the thumb, and use it to protect five places, referring to the top of the head, both shoulders, the heart, and the throat (the above is a small mudra, there is also a large mudra).

The hand mudra (hand gesture) is as follows: Straighten the five fingers of the right hand, with the fingertips touching each other. Then bend the middle joint of the ring finger, making it level with the palm. Use the thumb and little finger to assist forward. The method of sprinkling water is: Squat down and remain silent, place both hands between the knees, use the hand mudra to scoop water, without any foam, and drink it silently. After drinking three times, dip your hand in water and wipe your lips twice. If there is dirt, phlegm, saliva, or cough in the mouth, between the teeth, or on the tongue, repeat the previous steps, drinking water and wiping your lips. Then use this hand mudra and recite the mantra, first pressing the eyes with the thumb and ring finger of the mudra, then the mouth, ears, nose, shoulders, navel, heart, throat, and neck, in order. This completes the protection of the body and purifies the senses.
Next is the sweeping and cleaning of the shrine room: According to the accomplishment and differences of the matter, choose the corresponding direction and a place that is pleasing to you, without any obstacles. Remove insects, insect nests, pits, tiles, chaff, bones, hair, salty charcoal, ash, etc. from the ground. Dig away the unclean soil and fill it with clean soil. Build a room on top of it, making it strong and tight, not allowing wind to enter. The door should face east, or north, or west, or south depending on the situation. After building the shrine room, smear it with cow dung and sprinkle it with clean water, or mix fragrant paste with clean water. Recite the following mantra while smearing the ground, the mantra is:

Removing withered flowers: After offering fresh flowers to the deities, first recite this mantra to remove the withered flowers, saying:

其手印相。先當合掌。中間兩手六指。向外舒散。勿令相著。其大指及小指。兩手依舊相著。合掌中虛。如間蓮花。微屈中間六指(此是蓮花部三摩耶手印)。
次說金剛部三摩耶真言及手印真言曰。
唵嚩日路(二合)娜婆(二合)嚩(引)也莎訶(三遍誦之此是金剛三摩耶真言)

Extend the two index fingers, crossing them left and right, and place them in the tiger's mouth (the space between the thumb and index finger). The Ritual of Entering the Chamber: As the teachings state, the practitioner should enter the sacred chamber (referring to the room where the Buddha image is enshrined) with a focused mind. Upon entering, face the Buddha image, join palms, and bow, but without touching the head to the ground. First, within the chamber, place a framed image of the Buddha or a stupa (Cetiya, a type of Buddhist structure), or simply a seat, and after entering, make offerings.
Preparing the Offerings: This includes the five types of offerings such as perfumed ointment, sacred threads purified with cow dung, kusha grass rings, one's own seat, as well as the arghya vessel (a vessel for offering water), vajra sand, white mustard seeds, a waist cord, etc. These are called offerings and should be prepared in advance.
When entering the room, recite the mantra. The mantra is as follows:
Om Jvala (two syllables combined) Rita (two syllables combined) Rochani Hum Phat (Recite seven times; this is the entering-the-chamber mantra, common to all three families).
Next, one should perform the Samaya (vow) mantra and mudra. First, the Buddha Family mantra:
Om Tathagatodbhava Vajra Svaha (Recite five times; this is the Samaya mantra of the Buddha Family).
The mudra: With both hands facing upwards, extend the ten fingers straight forward, close together side by side, and slightly bend the upper joints of the two index fingers (this is the Samaya mudra of the Buddha Family).
Next, recite the Lotus Family Samaya mantra and mudra. The mantra is as follows:
Om Padmodbhava Vajra Svaha (Recite five times; this is the Samaya mantra of the Lotus Family).
The mudra: First, join the palms together. Spread the six fingers (index, middle, and ring fingers) of the two hands outward, without letting them touch each other. Keep the two thumbs and little fingers in the joined-palm position. Make the palms hollow, like an open lotus flower, and slightly bend the six fingers in the middle (this is the Samaya mudra of the Lotus Family).
Next, recite the Vajra Family Samaya mantra and mudra. The mantra is as follows:
Om Vajrod bhava Vajra Svaha (Recite five times; this is the Samaya mantra of the Vajra Family).
The mudra: Place the right hand over the left hand, with the backs of the hands together.

其手印相。以左手大指。屈入掌中。以中指無名指而押大指。屈其頭指。著中指節側亦屈小指。著無名指中節側。即舒努臂。頭上右轉三遍。及印觸身五處。右手大指押小指甲。餘三指直豎。作嚩日啰(二合)形。叉其腰側。立法如前(此是辟除印)。
又辟除真言及手印真言曰。

【English Translation】 English version Cross each other in reverse. Use the right thumb to cross and press down on the left little finger. Use the left thumb to cross and press down in the middle of the right little finger. Slightly open the six fingers of both hands, like a three-pronged vajra (this is the Samaya mudra of the Vajra family). These three mudras are called the Great Mudra.
Even the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas cannot disobey it, let alone the various kinds of demons. Each should use it according to their own family, in the proper order. Practicing these methods not only conforms to the teachings, but also eliminates all sins and removes all difficulties. The Dharma sought will surely be obtained according to one's wishes.
Next, one should use mantra and mudra to dispel the difficulties of Vinayaka (obstacle) in the body. The mantra says:
Om amrita te hanan hanan hum phat (This is the mantra for dispelling the difficulties of Vinayaka in the body).
The appearance of the mudra is as follows: Bend the thumbs of both hands and place them in the palms, making a fist. Extend the two index fingers, cross them left and right, and place them in the tiger's mouth. Use the mudra from the top of the head downwards, to the feet, and then omit it (This is the mudra for dispelling the difficulties of Vinayaka, etc.).
Next, one should use mantra and mudra to ward off evil. The mantra says:
Namo vajra ya hum hanan dunan matha vidhvam sayuja raya hum phat (Recite seven times, this is the warding off evil mantra).
The appearance of the mudra is as follows: Use the left thumb, bend it and place it in the palm, use the middle finger and ring finger to press down on the thumb. Bend the index finger, placing it on the side of the middle finger joint, also bend the little finger, placing it on the side of the middle joint of the ring finger. Then extend the arm. The hand mudra is as follows: Snap the fingers of both hands three times (this is the expulsion hand mudra).
What is called expulsion? It means to banish and remove all difficulties from the flowers, clothing, seats, and other objects in the shrine, so that it becomes pure.
Next, the mantra and hand mudra are spoken, and the filth-cleansing mantra is performed, saying:
Om Kili Kili Vajra Hung Phat (Recite this seven times; this is the filth-cleansing mantra)
The hand mudra is as follows: Place the thumb of the right hand on the nail of the little finger, with the other three fingers slightly open and upright, and place the hand on the waist, with the three fingers pointing forward. The left hand also makes this mudra. Use the mudra to purify all objects, removing filth and evil, which is called filth-cleansing (this is the Kili Wrathful Filth-Cleansing Hand Mudra).
Next, perform purification. The Buddha-section heart mantra. Take fragrant water in a fist and recite it seven times. Sprinkle it on all objects to make them pure. The initial Buddha-section heart mantra says:

Now, examining the sutras in the Denzō, there is no offering ritual content in the Kokusōzō (national collection) at all. The Denzō also has this content in the kanhan (case). Upon detailed examination of the Kaiyuan and Zhenyuan records, Śubhakarasiṃha (善無畏) translated only three sutras and one ritual, and not this offering ritual. The hand seal is as follows: cross the two little fingers into the palm, bring the two ring fingers together and press them on top of the crossed little fingers, also into the palm. Keep the tips of the two middle fingers upright and touching each other. Press the two index fingers on the upper joints of the two middle fingers, bending the middle joints of the index fingers inward, and keep the thumbs upright, supporting the middle fingers (this is the protective hand seal).
Next, perform the great protection by reciting this mantra and making the hand seal. Complete the great protection at five points on the body. The mantra says:

On the lotus platform, further contemplate various precious pavilions, adorned with hanging colored banners, umbrellas, canopies, and nets. After completing the mental contemplation, recite the True Word, adding blessings to the previously contemplated objects, so that each one is accomplished. When offering Arghya (sacred water), according to the differences in the family and the corresponding accomplishments, make appropriate vessels. These vessels can be made of gold, silver, refined copper, stone, wood, or earthenware, shankha (conch shell), shukichi-patra (meaning leaves, lotus leaves, etc.). 【English Translation】 English version: Next, the mudra (hand gesture) of the Lotus Family's heart-seal will be explained. Based on the Buddha Family's heart-seal, only the right thumb is changed, bending it into the palm, and the left thumb is raised alone (this is the Vajra heart-seal).
The argha (offering) ritual corresponds to the respective Family (Buddha Family, Lotus Family, Vajra Family), and the accomplishment of matters, as extensively described in the scriptures. At the time of offering, it is offered while reciting the root mantra.
The person who invites the principal deity, at the place of practice, first visualizes himself seated, and then with the mantra and mudra, accomplishes the chariot (vehicle), to send for the principal deity. The chariot mantra says:
Om druru druru kham (This is the mantra for sending the chariot, common to the Three Families)
The mudra is: the six fingers below the middle fingers of both hands are crossed, the right hand pressing on the left hand into the palm, the two index fingers touching each other, the two thumbs assisting the sides of the middle fingers, opening the two palms, the wrists touching each other, the six fingers touching each other in the palms (this is the mudra for sending the chariot, common to the Three Families).
After sending the chariot, one should recite this vidya-mantra (wisdom mantra), inserting the phrase 'come' in the middle, and perform the mudra. Or only invite the principal deity alone, or invite together with the retinue. When sending, the left thumb is raised outwards; when welcoming, the right thumb is bent inwards (three times each, inwards and outwards). The vidya-mantra says:

『唵 缽那咩寧婆伽嚩底慕賀也慕賀也諾蘗知慕賀寧莎訶』(此是蓮花部凈治路真言)
作此法已,室中關鑰悉皆開解,亦成辟除,乃至清凈。

'Om Er-nang Er-jia' (recite twenty-five times)
The hand mudra: Follow the previous Buddha-section heart mudra, only change by pointing the two thumbs forward, beckoning three times, and it becomes the summoning mudra. (This is the Buddha-section summoning mudra).
The Lotus-section heart mantra says:
'Om A-lu-li-jia' (recite lightly five times)
The hand mudra: Follow the previous section heart mudra, only change by pointing the right thumb forward three times, and it becomes the summoning. (This is the Lotus-section summoning).
The Vajra-section heart mantra says:
'Om Vajra-te-le-jia' (recite lightly five times)
The hand mudra: Follow the previous section heart mudra, only change by pointing the left thumb forward, beckoning three times, and it becomes the summoning mudra. (This is the Vajra-section summoning mudra).
When wishing to invite, first hold the incense burner, recite and maintain the mantra, purify the roads in the room. Then offer the purification mantra, which says:
'Om Su-siddhi-kari, jvala-tananda-mulita-ye, jvala-jvala, bandha-hana-hana hum phat' (This is the Vajra-section purification road mantra, also called the two sections).
The Buddha-section purification road mantra says:
'Om Jvala' (This is the Buddha-section purification road mantra).
The Lotus-section purification road mantra says:
'Om Padma-me-ni, bhaga-vati, mohaya-mohaya, nirgati-mohani svaha' (This is the Lotus-section purification road mantra).
Having performed this ritual, all locks and keys in the room are opened, and it also becomes protected and purified.

(Mudra of Establishing the Upper Boundary) Next, use the Vajra Hook and Railing mantra and mudrā to establish the upper boundary. The mantra is as follows:
Oṃ Visphura Nara-kṣa Vajra Pañjara Hūṃ Phaṭ (recite three times, this is the Vajra Hook and Railing mantra).

唵 商升(二合)羯㘑 莎訶(七遍誦之此是結地獄真言三遍亦得)
次以阿三忙銀(引)你真言及手印。普作火院。真言曰。
唵 阿三𥌋(引)祇寧梨(引咽聲三遍誦之此是阿三𥌋祇寧真言)
其手印相。以右手指背。置左手指內。令無縫二大指向上直豎。右轉一遍。即成火院(此是阿三𥌋祇寧印)。

Only when these items are fully prepared on the body can the ritual be performed. According to the scriptures and the respective families, as stated in the scriptures, after establishing the great boundary (大界), one should then make offerings. On the steps, spread green natpa grass (a type of green grass) in order. Place all the homa firewood and other items on the right side. Place the argha (water offering vessel) on the left side. Prepare various offerings, mainly of yellow and white colors, according to the circumstances. After lighting the fire, use the wrathful king's purification to invite the fire god. Sprinkle fragrant water to the right three times, and offer mouth-rinsing water three times, then recite this mantra to bless it three times, using the mantra for offering to the fire god as follows:

其手印相。左手豎五指。掌向外。右手豎五指。掌向內。以手背相著。即以右手頭指已下四指。及鉤左手四指。向下轉腕。向身。卻合兩掌相向。二腕相著(此是瀉垢火等印)。

唵 闇沒㗚(二合)帝賀囊賀囊(上)𤙖泮吒(二合此是灑香水真言)
燃火真言曰。
唵部啰若嚩(二合)攞(此是燃火真言)
瀉垢火等了己。還灑香水。乃至漱口。兩手置其兩膝之間。初以一杓滿蘇。護摩一遍。次則護摩其柴。次護摩飲。次護摩諸谷。或以乳粥。次則蓮花羯尼迦羅等花隨意護摩。隨其本事。或寂靜心。或歡喜心。或忿怒而護摩。其所著衣。或白或黃赤。隨事應知。或面向東。或北或南。隨事而作。其供養物。或白黃赤。香味等類亦復須知。護摩畢已。還以一杓滿蘇。護摩一遍。重獻閼伽乃至供養準前。重作護身及方等印。並與護尊及護己身。乃至解界。準方可發遣。其遣火神手印相。如前請火神印。惟改頭指。與大指相捻(此是發遣火神印)。

The waist cord should be twisted together clockwise by a virgin girl, combined three times, and then combined three more times, adjusting it like a net.
The armlet should be made with twenty-five vajra knots, with one bead placed in the center and one at each end. The thatch ring should be measured to the size of the ring finger, wrapped three times with thatch, and made into a vajra knot.
