Mahavairocana Tathagata speaks by striking the golden drum. Opening the mouth and raising the tongue, he shakes the palaces of the Dharma Realm. All the Tathagatas in the Lotus Treasury World emerge from Samadhi. Immediately, with the power to destroy hell and extinguish the calamity of seven rebirths, the initiating Bodhisattva speaks the secret of the Five Syllables. These five syllables are A, VAM, LAM, KHAM, KAM. The syllable A is the lord of the Vajra family, corresponding to the liver. The syllable VAM is the lord of the Lotus family, corresponding to the lungs. The syllable LAM is the lord of the Jewel family, corresponding to the heart. The syllable KHAM is the lord of the Karma family, corresponding to the stomach. The syllable KAM is the lord of the Space family, corresponding to the spleen. Mountains, seas, and the great earth emerge from the syllable A. Rivers and myriad streams emerge from the syllable VAM. Gold, jade, precious jewels, the sun, moon, stars, and the light of fire pearls are formed from the syllable LAM. The five grains, five fruits, and the blooming of various flowers are bound by the syllable KHAM. Beautiful and fragrant women, the growth of heavenly beings, the nourishment of color and taste, upright appearance, blessings, virtue, wealth, and nobility are adorned by the syllable KAM. The syllable A is Akshobhya Tathagata of the East. The syllable VAM is Amitabha Tathagata of the West. The syllable LAM is Ratnasambhava Tathagata of the South. The syllable KHAM is Amoghasiddhi Tathagata of the North. The syllable KAM is Vairocana, the Great Sun Tathagata of the Upper Direction. The meaning of the syllable A is profound, the essence of emptiness and tranquility. It cannot be taken, nor can it be abandoned. It is the mother of all dharmas, the great initiation king, that is the syllable A. This is a difficult-to-believe Dharma. Do not let the lawyers of the Hinayana see this text. The 400,000 words of the Five-Part Sanskrit text come from the Vairocana Sutra and the Vajrasekhara Sutra, collecting their essential mysteries. The supreme field of merit is only this Five Syllable Dharani. The merits obtained by those who recite it are immeasurable, inconceivable, and inexpressible. Contemplating the principle of reason brings blessings. The bones and body are strong and healthy, forever free from disasters, obstacles, and all illnesses. It nourishes longevity. Writing these five syllables on the drum, those who inscribe the characters and strike the drum, near and far, will hear its sound.
。熾盛布千里。苗稼洪潤人無災疫。是此如來體性無生觀 右五部真言。是一切如來無生甘露之珍漿醍醐佛性之妙藥。一字入於五藏萬病不生。況修日觀月觀。即時證佛身空寂。是阿鑁覽唅欠五字法身真言。若日誦一遍或七遍或二十一遍或四十九遍者。挍量功德。一遍福如轉一切經一百萬遍。何況禪寂坐入定門。從阿字觀諦審分明如日照空。即是了見佛性。所獲福無有比量。秘密藏文句實不思議。只恐聲聞法師小乘持律者。生疑不信反益其罪。譬如王有稚子偏最憐念。庫藏珍寶傾竭不惜。唯不與干將鏌鎁。恐不解運用故傷其體。是故如來秘傳不菩薩。大與聲聞劣慧。

【English Translation】 English version: The blazing light shines for a thousand miles, the crops are lush, and the people are free from disasters and plagues. This is the Tathagata's view of the unborn nature of the self. The five mantras on the right are the precious nectar of the unborn from all Tathagatas, the wonderful medicine of the Buddha-nature of ghee. One word enters the five viscera, and all diseases do not arise. Moreover, practicing the sun and moon meditations will immediately realize the emptiness of the Buddha's body. This is the five-syllable Dharmakaya mantra of A, Vam, Ram, Ham, Kham. If one recites it once, or seven times, or twenty-one times, or forty-nine times daily, measuring its merits, the merit of reciting it once is like turning all the scriptures one million times. Moreover, in meditative stillness, sitting in the gate of samadhi, carefully examining the A syllable clearly, like the sun shining in the sky, is to see the Buddha-nature, and the merit gained is incomparable. The words and sentences of the secret treasury are truly inconceivable. I am only afraid that Sravaka Dharma masters and Hinayana Vinaya masters will doubt and disbelieve, and instead increase their sins. For example, a king has a young son whom he loves dearly, and he spares no expense in emptying his treasury of treasures, but he does not give him the Gan Jiang and Mo Ye swords, fearing that he will not understand how to use them and injure his body. Therefore, the Tathagata secretly transmits it not to Bodhisattvas, but gives it in large quantities to Sravakas, who are of inferior wisdom.
A, the Vajra Earth Element One (The syllable A is used for earth meditation and Vajra seat meditation. Its shape is square and its color is yellow. It represents the Great Perfect Mirror Wisdom, also known as Vajra Wisdom). Vam, the Vajra Water Element Two (The syllable Vam is used for water meditation and lotus meditation. Its shape is like a full moon and its color is white. It represents the Wonderful Discriminating Wisdom, also known as Lotus Wisdom or Turning the Wheel of Dharma Wisdom). Ram, the Vajra Fire Element Three (The syllable Ram is used for sun meditation. Its shape is triangular and its color is red. It represents the Wisdom of Equality, also known as the Anointing Wisdom). Ham, the Vajra Wind Element Four (The syllable Ham is used for moon meditation. Its shape is like a half-moon and its color is black. It represents the Accomplishing Wisdom, also known as Karma Wisdom). Kham, the Vajra Space Element Five (The syllable Kham is used for space meditation. Its shape is like a full moon and its color is various. It represents the Wisdom of the Dharmadhatu Nature).
The seeds of the five elements of earth, water, fire, wind, and space are the five syllables A, Vam, Ram, Ham, Kham. There is the earth wheel. Above the earth wheel is the water wheel. Above the water wheel is the fire wheel. Above the fire wheel is the wind wheel. Above the wind wheel is the space wheel. In the space wheel, contemplate the syllable Ham.

Contemplate that in the sky, Buddhas are like sesame seeds, pervading the entire space. Imagine oneself attaining the ten Bhumis (stages of a Bodhisattva's path). The syllable Vam transforms into the water of great compassion, ready to sprinkle upon the earth of Bodhicitta (mind of enlightenment) of myself and all sentient beings, washing away the defilements of the hundred and sixty mental fabrications, completely cutting off the defilements of afflictions and sins. In this very body, without abandoning the body born of parents, one attains the position of the great Bodhi Buddha fruit in this very life. Furthermore, contemplate that within the body, there is a great ocean, at the bottom of which is the syllable Pa, golden in color. This syllable transforms into a golden turtle, which is the Buddha-nature. On the turtle is the syllable Su, which transforms into Mount Sumeru (Mount Meru). On Mount Sumeru is the syllable Ah, which transforms into a Vajra earth-wheel of various subtle colors. On the wheel is a mandala of thirty-eight cubits. The syllable Am transforms into a triple jeweled palace, which represents the desire realm, the form realm, and the formless realm. It is adorned with the seven jewels. Within this wonderful palace is a ten-cubit altar, which represents the ten Dharma realms. In the center of the altar is a great awakened lion throne, in the center of which is the syllable Ah, which transforms into a four-cubit stone seat, which is the multiple Mandala. These multiple layers represent the aspiration to cultivate Bodhi and Nirvana. Above the stone seat is a white great lotus flower, and on the lotus flower is the syllable Ah, which transforms into the Dharmakaya (Dharma Body) of Mahavairocana (Great Sun Buddha). Say Ah Vam.
覽唅欠。此五字變成五智如來身。又成八葉九尊身。又成五大明王身。大日如來變成憾字。字變成劍。劍變成不動明王身。明王變成瞿利伽羅大龍。現忿怒相纏利劍。龍王變成二人使者。矜迦羅使者制吒伽羅使者此也。是五字者是名秘密悉地也。亦名成就悉地。亦名蘇悉地。蘇悉地者。遍法界成就佛果證大菩提。法界秘密言。光明遍滿。唯佛與佛能入此門。緣覺聲聞不能照此。亦名秘密悉地。若誦一遍。當如轉一切經一百萬遍。秘密悉地者。從心至頂。秘密悉地即法身成就。即是三種常身正法藏。是故稽首禮尾盧遮那佛。

阿字如阿摩羅識。阿摩羅識體阿梨耶識。用阿字含藏萬法。猶如藏識含諸法也。故毗盧遮那四字含四教義。九重月輪表八葉九尊。文殊真言下品悉地。
阿羅波遮那 一字唵慈臨(二合) 萬事通用是名出悉地。能生根莖遍滿四方。誦一遍如轉藏經一百遍。出悉地從足至腰。

【English Translation】 English version Lam Ham Kham. These five syllables transform into the body of the Five Wisdom Buddhas (representing the five types of wisdom). They also form the body of the Eight-Petaled Nine Honored Ones (nine Buddhas and Bodhisattvas on an eight-petaled lotus). They also form the bodies of the Five Great Vidyarajas (five wrathful deities in Buddhism). Vairocana Buddha (the fundamental Buddha of the universe) transforms into the syllable Ham. 【English Translation】 English version: All beings are fully contained within this 'A' (A-character, a Sanskrit letter, symbolizing the initial sound of the universe). Severing all afflictions, delusions, and karmic actions from countless kalpas, it inspires the supreme Bodhi mind in all beings, enabling them to attain Buddhahood completely. If someone of the highest capacity constantly recites this 'A' three times day and night, or remembers it moment by moment, then this person will certainly not abandon the physical body born of their parents, and in this very life will attain the inconceivable and rare Buddha-body. If someone holds uncertain doubts about this teaching, they will fall into the Avici Hell for countless, inconceivable, Ganges-sand-like, asamkhya, and innumerable great kalpas. If they barely manage to emerge from the kalpa of Avici Hell, they will then enter the eighteen hells and the eighty-four thousand hells. Thus, passing on from one to another, each experiencing all kalpas, they will fall into the realm of hungry ghosts and the realm of animals. After each has exhausted their kalpa in those realms, and when the kalpa is exhausted, they will be reborn as humans. Because they do not believe in the Dharma, they will be extremely poor and miserable, suffering countless great illnesses throughout their lives, ceaselessly enduring such suffering day and night, without cultivating any good deeds. After death, they will still fall into Avici Hell. Therefore, they constantly endure great suffering and affliction, unable to be reborn in good realms. Thus, those who do not believe cannot comprehend the medicine of the Three True Words (mantras of body, speech, and mind), the Three Bodies of the Buddha (Dharmakaya, Sambhogakaya, Nirmanakaya), and the Three Bodhis (Svasambuddha-jnana, Parasambuddha-jnana, Karmabuddha-jnana). If someone hears this mantra even once, it is because they have planted countless roots of goodness in past lives, and they will still rely on the power of those past good roots to hear it in this life. This person will certainly, at the end of their life, be reborn according to their wishes in the pure lands of the ten directions, where they will teach the Dharma to the beings there and to all beings in the three thousand great thousand worlds, removing their suffering and giving them joy, enabling them to attain the great Bodhi fruit. Know that this person is transformed by the Tathagata. Is a Bodhisattva. How much more so are those who recite it themselves and teach it to others, their merit is inconceivable. Each with pure faith, complete five hundred thousand recitations, and the countless evil karmas and sins from countless billions of kalpas since beginningless time will be forever eradicated. According to their wishes, after death, they will be reborn in the Lotus Treasury World, constantly in the presence of the Primordial Awakened 'A' Buddha (the original Buddha of the universe), beholding the wonderful body of Vairocana Tathagata (Vairocana, the Illuminator). Constantly in that world, they will enjoy the bliss of the Dharma. This was spoken from the golden mouth of Vairocana Tathagata. The Five Wisdom Tathagatas (Tathagatas representing the five wisdoms of the Buddha) are born from the 'A' character, manifesting countless bodies. One who has heard the 'A' character once in the past is now Vairocana Tathagata.

【English Translation】 English version The white hair's light manifests perfect knowledge, its complete radiance constantly illuminates like the sun and moon. Akshobhya (不動佛) and Ratnasambhava (寶生佛), saviors of the world, Amitabha (阿彌陀佛) and Amoghasiddhi (不空成就佛), the king of non-emptiness. Together in the auspicious wheel of Siddhi (成就), they transmit this wonderful Dharma to transform all beings. With compassionate hearts, they freely subdue the three realms, Vajrasattva (金剛薩埵), the immovable尊. Without violating vows, they respond to the appropriate time; the Yoga practice completed, they return to the Vajra. The original annotation says: In the second year of Enpō, the year of the Dragon in the Jia-yin cycle, spring, second month, the brush was put to paper at the Zongchi Monastery in Hubei by the monk Chao Ran. On the tenth day of the eighth month in the fifth year of Tenmei, the year of the Snake in the Yi-si cycle, the writing was completed based on the original by Master Chao Ran. Written by the釋慈忍 of Musashi Province. In the seventh month of autumn, the first year of Kyōwa, the year of the Rooster in the Xin-you cycle, a copy was sought at Chishaku-in in Rakutō. Daisen of Aizen-in of this mountain and others wrote, collated, and added Japanese characters. The above two copies of the 'Supreme Victory Breaking Hell' are the three types of 'Supreme Victory Breaking Hell' printed and recorded earlier.
