The Secret Dhāraṇī of the Uṣṇīṣa-vijaya Heart, Which Destroys Hell, Transforms Karmic Obstacles, and Liberates from the Three Realms
Translated by Śubhākarasiṃha (善無畏), Tripiṭaka of Central India, under Imperial Decree
(4) It is named the Vajra Drum. (2) The mouth opens and the tongue rises, shaking the palace of the Dharma Realm. The Tathāgatas in the Lotus Treasury Samādhi emerge. Immediately, it destroys hell and extinguishes the calamity of sevenfold retribution. The initiating Bodhisattva (also known as the Good Dwelling Deva) speaks the five-syllable secret. Hold the original and transmit it. Arrange the syllables according to the Dharma. If the ruler wears it on the crown, all countries will be peaceful. If the inspector observes, and the banners are inscribed with the words **, the four directions will be peaceful. If the prefect of a fortified city suppresses the general rebellion, and the bugles and drums are inscribed with words of strict warning, the evil aura will be heard from afar and will be concealed. If it is vigorously spread for a thousand miles, the crops will be abundant, and the people will be free from disasters and diseases. The local deities will enjoy calm winds and smooth rains. (1) There are approximately a thousand aspects of Yoga practices, and only a few are briefly described. (3) Recite and empower the battle drum with inscriptions, and the enemy army will surrender on its own, without a single loss. (5) The Buddha said: 'The syllable A (阿) is the lord of the Vajra family, governing the liver; the syllable Vaṃ (鑁) is the lord of the Lotus family, governing the lungs; the syllable Traṃ (覽) is the lord of the Jewel family, governing the heart; the syllable Khaṃ (唅) is the lord of the Karma family, governing the stomach; the syllable Khaṃ (欠) is the lord of the Space family, governing the spleen. Mountains, seas, and the great earth emerge from the syllable A (阿); rivers and myriad streams emerge from the syllable Vaṃ (鑁); gold, jade, treasures, sun, moon, stars, fire pearls, and light are formed from the syllable Traṃ (覽); the ripening of the five grains, five fruits, and the blooming of various flowers are due to the syllable Khaṃ (唅); beautiful and fragrant women and devas, the nourishment of complexion, the taste, the upright appearance, blessings, virtues, wealth, and nobility are adorned by the syllable Khaṃ (欠). The syllable A (阿) represents Akshobhya (阿閦如來) in the East; the syllable Vaṃ (鑁) represents Amitābha (阿彌陀如來) in the West; the syllable Traṃ (覽) represents Ratnasambhava (寶生如來) in the South; the syllable Khaṃ (唅) represents Amoghasiddhi (不空成就如來) in the North; the syllable Khaṃ (欠) represents Vairocana (毗盧遮那大日如來) in the Upper Direction. The syllable A (阿) is the profound and tranquil essence, which cannot be taken or abandoned. It is the mother of all dharmas and the great empowerment king.'

【English Translation】 English version: The letter 『A』 is it. The letter 『A』 is a Dharma (law, teaching) difficult to believe. Do not let the Sravaka (one who attains enlightenment by hearing the teachings) Vinaya (rules of conduct) masters of the Hinayana (small vehicle) see this. This book is extracted from 400,000 words of the five-part Brahma (pure, divine) texts. The Vairochana Sutra (the sutra of the universal Buddha) and the Vajrasekhara Sutra (the Diamond Peak Sutra) collect its essentials. It is the supreme field of merit. Only this five-syllable mantra, the merit acquired by those who recite it is immeasurable, inconceivable, and indescribable. The five-part mantra of the Vajrasekhara Sutra, upholding, reciting, contemplating, and illuminating the rationality, can enable people to obtain blessings, strong bones, healthy body, and forever free from disasters and all kinds of illnesses, nourishing the body and mind, and longevity. (The five-storehouse Mandala (sacred diagram) is the five Dharma bodies). 『Ah』 Vajra (diamond, thunderbolt) Earth Division One (the letter 『Ah』 is used for Earth contemplation, Vajra seat contemplation), Vam Vajra Water Division Two (the letter 『Vam』 is used for water contemplation, lotus contemplation), Lam Vajra Fire Division Three (the letter 『Lam』 is used for sun contemplation), Ham Vajra Wind Division Four (the letter 『Ham』 is used for moon contemplation), Kham Vajra Space Division Five (the letter 『Kham』 is used for space contemplation), Tathagata (one who has thus come) nature non-birth contemplation. Moreover, practicing sun contemplation and moon contemplation, one can immediately cultivate the five-part Dharma body meaning of the Buddha body emptiness. Ah Vam Lam Ham Kham. These five Dharma body mantras on the right, if recited once a day, or seven times, twenty-one times, or forty-nine times, comparing the merits, the merit of reciting once is like turning the Tripitaka (three baskets of Buddhist scriptures) one million times. Moreover, Chan (meditation) silence, sitting and entering the gate of Samadhi (meditative consciousness), from the letter 『Ah』 contemplation, carefully examine clearly, like the sun shining in the sky, is to see the Buddha nature, the blessings obtained are immeasurable. The secret collection of words is truly inconceivable. It is only feared that Sravaka (one who attains enlightenment by hearing the teachings) Dharma masters and Hinayana (small vehicle) Vinaya (rules of conduct) holders will have doubts and disbelief, and instead increase their sins. For example, a king has a young son, especially loved, and the treasures in the treasury are exhausted without hesitation, but he does not give him the Gan Jiang and Mo Ye swords, fearing that he does not understand how to use them and instead hurts his body. Therefore, the Tathagata secretly transmits it to the great Bodhisattvas, and does not transmit it to those with inferior wisdom such as Sravakas. The following three mantras are the three kinds of Siddhi (accomplishment), and the establishment of the upper, middle, and lower grades in the accomplishment Dharma.
『Arapacana』 (this is the lower grade Siddhi mantra) is called emerging Siddhi. It can make the roots and stems grow and fill the four directions.

【English Translation】 English version: A-wei-luo-hong-qie (阿微羅吽佉) (This is the middle-grade Siddhi mantra) The Siddhi chapter of the Mahavairocana Sutra says that this mantra can subdue the four maras, liberate from the six realms, and fulfill all-knowing wisdom. It is a vajra phrase. This is called entering Siddhi, which can generate branches and leaves, spread in all directions, shine brightly, and enter the Dharma-dhatu. It is called entering Siddhi. Reciting it once is like reciting the Tripitaka one hundred times. A-vam-lam-ham-kham (阿鑁藍唅欠) (This is the supreme Siddhi mantra). Use the previous five-three mudra mantra, once forward and once backward, then rotate four times forward, then rotate four times backward. This annotation says: On June 1st of the 2nd year of Chiryaku, in Hizen Province, completed copying from the book of the Holy Monk of Tadaishi-zō. Monk Jōsen.
On July 18th, the year of Hinoe-inu, the 2nd year of Jōwa, it was bestowed from the hand of the Chief Priest of Kongōbu-ji Temple. Gon no Shōsōzu (Provisional Junior Monk Administrator) Bunka (54 years old).
