大唐天竺三藏寶思惟奉 詔譯
如是我聞。一時佛在凈居天宮不可思議種種莊嚴一切菩薩眾會中住。及諸天龍藥叉健達縛阿素洛等星宿天仙。皆是十地菩薩方便化現。在於此會。爾時世尊坐蓮華藏界。觀察大眾諸天仙等。為欲利益后末世時一切眾生故。入於一切如來最上大轉輪王頂三昧。即于眉間放一大光。其光普遍十方世界一切佛剎。其中眾生遇斯光者。靡不歡悅。其光遍已還至佛所。圍繞三匝入如來頂。當入之時復現種種莊嚴之相。其光之內忽有聲曰。我是大轉輪王一字之咒。無量天仙恭敬圍繞。爾時光中復出聲曰。告釋迦如來我是一切如來智慧轉輪王一字心咒。於一切過現未來一切諸佛。我是最上秘密心咒。寶蓋佛。娑羅樹王佛。無量光佛。無勝佛。妙眼佛。妙幢佛。花王佛。彼等諸佛普皆已說。一切過去無量諸佛亦皆隨喜。汝今當爲未來眾生。敷演斯咒令諸眾生獲大利益。爾時世尊見聞斯已。告諸大眾。汝等當知云何名為一字轉輪王咒。即說咒曰。

【English Translation】 English version The One-Syllable Heart Mantra Sūtra of the Great Dhāraṇī in the Dharma-Ending Age
Translated under Imperial Order by the Tripiṭaka Master Bao Siwei from India of the Great Tang Dynasty
Thus have I heard. At one time, the Buddha was in the Pure Abode Heaven Palace, dwelling amidst inconceivable and various adornments, together with a gathering of all Bodhisattvas. Also present were various devas, nāgas (dragons), yakṣas (a type of spirit), gandharvas (celestial musicians), asuras (demons), and stellar deities, all of whom were manifestations of Tenth-Ground Bodhisattvas for the sake of expedient teaching. At that time, the World-Honored One, seated in the Lotus Treasury World, observed the assembly of beings, including the devas and celestial beings. Wishing to benefit all sentient beings in the future Dharma-Ending Age, he entered the Samādhi of the Supreme Great Wheel-Turning King of all Tathāgatas. Immediately, from between his eyebrows, he emitted a great light, which universally illuminated all Buddha-lands in the ten directions. Those beings within who encountered this light were filled with joy. After the light had pervaded everywhere, it returned to the Buddha's location, circumambulated him three times, and entered the Tathāgata's crown. As it entered, it manifested various adornments. Within the light, a voice suddenly spoke, saying: 'I am the one-syllable mantra of the Great Wheel-Turning King.' Countless devas and celestial beings respectfully surrounded it. Then, from within the light, a voice spoke again, saying: 'Tell Śākyamuni Tathāgata, I am the one-syllable heart mantra of the Wisdom Wheel-Turning King of all Tathāgatas. For all Buddhas of the past, present, and future, I am the supreme secret heart mantra. Ratnachattra Buddha (寶蓋佛). Salarājavrikṣa Buddha (娑羅樹王佛). Amitābha Buddha (無量光佛). Ajita Buddha (無勝佛). Sūryalocana Buddha (妙眼佛). Śrīketu Buddha (妙幢佛). Puṣparāja Buddha (花王佛). All those Buddhas have already spoken this mantra. All the countless Buddhas of the past have also rejoiced and praised it. Now, you should expound this mantra for the sake of future sentient beings, so that all sentient beings may obtain great benefit.' At that time, the World-Honored One, having seen and heard this, told the assembly: 'You should know what is called the one-syllable Wheel-Turning King mantra.' Then he spoke the mantra as follows:
bhrūṃ (此是梵本一字之咒) - This is the one-syllable mantra in Sanskrit. 部(上聲)林(去聲此是唐音彈舌呼之) - Bu (rising tone), Lin (departing tone), this is the Tang pronunciation, pronounced with a tongue roll.

佛。復告諸天仙眾。汝等諦聽。妙吉祥童子此陀羅尼。我今欲說曼陀羅法及唸誦法設火食法速令成就。若有人能持此陀羅尼最勝妙法。若不知吉祥之日及諸星等。汝諸天神勿為障礙。若有能行我教法者。汝等天眾護持是人。一切鬼神及諸毒惡毗那夜迦等。亦當守護不得損害。方便護念。於十力教中令生信解。說是語已即入三摩地。所謂一切如來頂生三昧。除諸有情不善業故。爾時世尊入彼三摩地已。十方諸佛觀察如來在清凈天宮。一一皆來集會。各請釋迦牟尼佛說咒而說頌曰(頌中初句佛說大威德者三藏云梵本稱說說而筆受者為不順方言故稱佛說)。
佛說大威德 為利諸有情 能成一切咒 愿者皆滿足 一切佛已說 此咒王威德 能于諸咒中 一字為尊上 頂生大威德 其力難思議 善除諸妖邪 退諸惡星宿 毒害母神等 及彼那夜迦 惡愿諸鬼神 逼惱有情者 當來濁世中 誦持得安樂 善哉天人師 愿為眾生說
爾時十方諸佛。說此頌已默然而住。當爾之時三千大千世界一切有情所住之處。忽然之間放大火焰威光赫耀。而皆不損一有情類。
爾時釋迦牟尼如來觀察一切清凈天宮。告諸菩薩摩訶薩及諸緣覺聲聞天仙諸大眾言。汝等諦聽即說頌曰。

【English Translation】 The Buddha (Buddha), again told all the celestial beings and immortals: 'Listen carefully. This dhāraṇī (dhāraṇī) of Mañjuśrīkumāra (Mañjuśrīkumāra), I will now speak about the rules of the maṇḍala (maṇḍala), the method of recitation, and the method of setting up a fire offering, so that it can be quickly accomplished. If someone can uphold this dhāraṇī, this is the most supreme and wonderful Dharma. Even if they do not know the auspicious days and various stars, you celestial gods should not create obstacles. If someone can follow my teachings, you celestial beings should protect this person. All ghosts and spirits, as well as various poisonous and evil Vinayaka (Vinayaka) and others, should also protect them and not harm them, and protect them with expedient means, so that they may generate faith and understanding in the teachings of the ten powers (daśabala).' After saying these words, the Buddha entered samādhi (samādhi), which is the Sarvatathāgatotpannasamādhi (Sarvatathāgatotpannasamādhi) of all Tathāgatas, in order to remove the unwholesome karma of all sentient beings. At that time, after the Bhagavan (Bhagavan) entered that samādhi, the Buddhas of the ten directions observed the Tathagata in the pure celestial palace, and each came forward to request Śākyamuni Buddha (Śākyamuni Buddha) to proclaim the mantra, and spoke the verse: (The first line of the verse 'The Buddha speaks of great power', the Tripitaka master said that the Sanskrit text is called 'speak', but the person who wrote it down thought it was not in accordance with the local dialect, so it is called 'The Buddha speaks'). The Buddha speaks of great power, for the benefit of all sentient beings, Able to accomplish all mantras, so that wishes are fulfilled. All Buddhas have already spoken of the power of this mantra king, Among all mantras, one syllable is the most supreme. Top-born great power, its power is inconceivable, Able to well remove all demons and evils, and dispel all evil stars. Poisonous mother goddesses, and those Nayakas, Various ghosts and spirits with evil wishes, those who harass sentient beings, In the future degenerate age, reciting it will bring peace and happiness. Excellent teacher of gods and humans, may you speak for the sake of sentient beings. At that time, after the Buddhas of the ten directions spoke this verse, they remained silent. At that time, in all the places where sentient beings lived in the three thousand great thousand worlds, suddenly a huge flame was released, its majestic light shining brightly, but it did not harm any sentient being. At that time, Śākyamuni Tathagata observed all the pure celestial palaces and told the Bodhisattva-mahāsattvas (Bodhisattva-mahāsattva), as well as the Pratyekabuddhas (Pratyekabuddha), Śrāvakas (Śrāvak), celestial immortals, and other great assemblies: 'Listen carefully.' Then he spoke the verse:
告諸佛子等 汝等今善聽 我今說此咒 具足諸功德 當來惡世時 我法將欲滅 能於此時中 護持我末法 能除世間惡 毒害諸鬼神 及諸天魔人 一切諸咒法 若聞此咒名 皆悉自摧伏 我滅度之後 分佈舍利已 當隱諸相好 變身為此咒 佛有二種身 真身及化身 若能供養者 福德無有異 此咒亦如是 一切諸天人 能生希有心 受持及供養 所得諸功德 如我身無異 此咒王功德 我今但略說
爾時世尊說此頌已。為諸眾會說斯轉輪王如來頂髻之法。能令他法速即毀壞。能令自法速得成就。一切菩薩所共讚歎。誦唸之處。於四方面五百驛內。一切惡鬼皆自馳散。一切咒師行其本法。聞此咒已皆悉摧壞。一切諸天所有神通皆悉退失。其持咒者欲滅他法不滅他法。由持咒者所存念處。一切世間及出世間諸持咒者。及諸惡星無不摧伏。
若善男子為護大乘。若為自身若對怨敵。應以手執一把青草。咒一百八遍。意忿彼人以刀斬草。念壞彼法即便斷壞。若欲令彼前人咒法不成就者。誦咒七遍以手作拳。意屬彼人即不成就。若欲令彼前人成者。即開其拳還得如故。若欲作此法者。先須洗浴著鮮凈衣。自法即得成就。若欲護持他人。一切惡鬼

如果善男子爲了護持大乘佛法,或者爲了自身,或者爲了對付怨敵,應該用手拿一把青草,唸咒一百零八遍,心中忿恨那個人,用刀斬草,想著破壞他的咒法,就能立即斷壞。如果想讓對方的咒法不成就,就念咒七遍,用手握拳,心中想著那個人,他的咒法就不能成就。如果想讓對方的咒法成就,就張開拳頭,就能恢復如初。如果想做這個法,必須先洗澡,穿乾淨的衣服,自己的咒法就能成就。如果想護持他人,防止一切惡鬼。
【English Translation】 English version: The Buddha told all the Buddha's disciples: 'You should listen carefully now.' 'I am now going to speak this mantra, which is endowed with all kinds of merits.' 'When the evil age of the future comes, and my Dharma is about to decline,' 'If someone can protect my Dharma in this time,' 'They will be able to eliminate the evils, poisons, and all kinds of ghosts and spirits in the world,' 'As well as all the heavenly demons and humans, and all kinds of spells.' 'If they hear the name of this mantra, they will all subdue themselves.' 'After I pass into Nirvana and distribute the relics,' 'I will hide my various auspicious marks and transform into this mantra.' 'The Buddha has two kinds of bodies: the true body and the manifested body,' 'If someone can make offerings to this mantra, the merit obtained is no different from making offerings to my true body.' 'This mantra is also like this. If all the gods and humans,' 'Can generate a rare and precious mind, and uphold and make offerings to it,' 'The various merits obtained are no different from making offerings to my true body.' 'The merits of this Mantra King (mantra), I am now only briefly speaking about.'
At that time, after the World Honored One spoke this verse, he proclaimed to the assembly the Dharma of the Usnisa-cakravartin-raja (Cakravarin, King of the Wheel, a powerful king or ruler) Tathagata's Crown. It can quickly destroy other dharmas and quickly accomplish one's own dharma. All Bodhisattvas commonly praise it. In the place where this mantra is recited, within five hundred驛(yì, ancient unit of distance) in all four directions, all evil ghosts will scatter on their own. All mantra masters who practice their original dharmas will be destroyed upon hearing this mantra. All the supernatural powers of all the gods will be lost. If the mantra holder wants to destroy another's dharma, they can destroy it; if they do not want to destroy it, they cannot destroy it. Because of the place where the mantra holder dwells, all mantra holders in the world and beyond, as well as all evil stars, will be subdued.
If a good man wants to protect the Great Vehicle (Mahayana), or for himself, or to deal with enemies, he should hold a handful of green grass, chant the mantra one hundred and eight times, hate that person in his heart, cut the grass with a knife, thinking of destroying his dharma, and it will be immediately broken. If you want to prevent the other person's mantra from being accomplished, chant the mantra seven times, make a fist with your hand, thinking of that person, and his mantra will not be accomplished. If you want the other person's mantra to be accomplished, open your fist, and it will be restored as before. If you want to perform this dharma, you must first bathe and wear clean clothes, and your own dharma will be accomplished. If you want to protect others from all evil ghosts.
皆不敢近。當誦此咒所護自身所護他人所呼鬼神所遣鬼神。所求事業並用此咒。若持諸咒無有神驗。為誦此咒一百萬遍。即得成就所得境界。若無效驗其神當即消滅若欲天神來為給使。當取油麻酥蜜酪等和之。少取一撮一咒一遍一投火中。燒之滿一百八遍。一日三時至七日內。其神即來便為使者。若欲降伏諸天。取天蓼木一百八片。一一誦咒投其火中。若欲降其神者。念其名字。一日三時作法至七日內。速來降伏。若欲降伏諸龍女者。取酥蜜乳。一日三時誦一百八遍於火中燒。至七日內即得成就。若降藥叉及藥叉女。一依前法取酪飯燒之。即得成就。若欲降伏健達縛及其女者。燒一切香一依前法燒種種花。一切八部女神即來降伏。若欲降伏真婆羅門。取好名花及白芥子一依前法。即得如意。若欲降伏筏舍之人。取酪乳酥一依前法。即得成就。若欲降伏戍達羅。取酥土和一依前法。若欲降伏一切惡人及惡星宿者。取酥及油麻燒之一依前法。如上說者。須七日內三時燒藥洗浴誦咒一百八遍即得成就。
爾時世尊說斯語已。呼文殊師利。汝咒法中有如上威力。於後末世。此法能令一切眾生受持行用。更有種種諸法我今略說。說此語已。爾時世尊默然而住。於時四部大眾白言。世尊唯愿慈悲更說余法。未來眾生得安樂故

【English Translation】 English version None dare approach them. One should recite this mantra to protect oneself, to protect others, to summon spirits, to command spirits, and for all endeavors. If holding other mantras yields no results, recite this mantra one million times to achieve success and attain the desired state. If it still proves ineffective, the power of the deity associated with the mantra should immediately vanish. If one desires a celestial being to serve as a messenger, mix sesame oil, ghee, honey, and curd. Take a small pinch, recite the mantra once for each pinch, and cast it into the fire, burning a total of one hundred and eight times. Do this three times a day for seven days, and the celestial being will come and become your servant. If one wishes to subdue the devas (devas, 天神), take one hundred and eight pieces of Polygonum chinense (Tian Liao Mu, 天蓼木), recite the mantra over each piece, and cast them into the fire. If one wishes to subdue a particular deity, recite their name, performing this ritual three times a day for seven days, and they will quickly come and submit. If one wishes to subdue the dragon maidens (Naga Kanya, 龍女), take ghee, honey, and milk, recite the mantra one hundred and eight times three times a day, and burn them in the fire. Within seven days, success will be achieved. If subduing the Yakshas (Yaksa, 夜叉) and Yakshinis (Yakshini, 夜叉女), follow the previous method, burning curd rice, and success will be achieved. If one wishes to subdue the Gandharvas (Gandharva, 乾闥婆) and their consorts, burn all kinds of incense, and following the previous method, burn various flowers. All the eight classes of goddesses will come and submit. If one wishes to subdue a true Brahmana (Brahmana, 婆羅門), take fine, fragrant flowers and white mustard seeds, following the previous method, and one's wishes will be fulfilled. If one wishes to subdue a Vaisya (Vaisya, 吠舍), take curd, milk, and ghee, following the previous method, and success will be achieved. If one wishes to subdue a Sudra (Sudra, 首陀羅), mix ghee and earth, following the previous method. If one wishes to subdue all evil people and evil stars, take ghee and sesame seeds and burn them, following the previous method. As mentioned above, one must burn the medicine three times a day for seven days, bathe, and recite the mantra one hundred and eight times to achieve success.
At that time, the World Honored One, having spoken these words, called to Manjusri (Manjusri, 文殊菩薩): 'Your mantra methods possess such power as described above. In the future, in the degenerate age, this Dharma will enable all sentient beings to uphold, maintain, and practice it. There are also various other Dharmas, which I will now briefly describe.' Having spoken these words, the World Honored One remained silent. At that time, the fourfold assembly said: 'World Honored One, we beseech you to be compassionate and speak further of other Dharmas, so that future sentient beings may attain peace and happiness.'

【English Translation】 English version: At that time, Shakyamuni Buddha again observed the Pure Heaven Palace and said to Manjushri Kumara (Manjushri, the Bodhisattva of wisdom): 'Listen carefully, I will now briefly explain the Dharani of the Cakravartin (Universal Monarch, a righteous ruler) of One Syllable and the method of making his image. To enable sentient beings in the evil age, who are lacking in diligence and wisdom, and unable to uphold the extensive methods of image-making, I will now briefly explain the method of image-making, for the sake of benefiting all sentient beings, and for the sake of quickly obtaining auspiciousness. If you wish to uphold the most supreme Dharma, take new white cotton cloth, one丈 (zhang, approx. 3.3 meters) long and six尺 (chi, approx. 0.33 meters) wide, without broken threads. Do not use glue to mix the colors. The image-maker should bathe in fragrant water, wear new and clean clothes, and observe the Eight Precepts. He should paint the World Honored One (Shakyamuni Buddha) as a Cakravartin, preaching the Dharma. Below the seat of the Lord of all Worlds, paint Brahma (the creator god in Hinduism), the Holy Vajra Bodhisattva (a Bodhisattva embodying indestructible wisdom), and above the Buddha, paint the Devas (gods) raining down flower garlands. At that time, the World Honored One Shakyamuni, again looked at Manjushri Kumara and said: 'Listen carefully, Manjushri Kumara, the great power and virtue of the Cakravartin of One Syllable. I will now explain the abbreviated method of image-making, so that sentient beings in the evil age may obtain peace and happiness. If you wish to perform the Dharma, hold a censer and carefully contemplate the face of the Buddha, with the face of the image facing west. Offer various incense and flowers in front of the image. The Dharma-holder should burn Agarwood incense three times a day, facing the Buddha image, and recite this divine mantra, completing one million recitations before performing the Dharma. The Dharma-holder should observe the precepts and must eat three white foods each time, namely milk, cheese, and粳米 (jīng mǐ, japonica rice). He must not break the fast, and should generate a compassionate mind towards all sentient beings, upholding the Bodhisattva precepts. This person, whatever meritorious deeds he wishes to perform, and whatever illnesses he wishes to cure, will all be fulfilled as desired. He must always make offerings to the Triple Gem (Buddha, Dharma, Sangha). If you wish to accomplish the wheel Dharma, make a wheel of iron, with two hubs. Set up a square altar in front of the Buddha image, from the first day to the fifteenth day of the month, bathe three times a day, burn Agarwood incense, and recite the mantra one million times, always using various flowers as offerings. After the fifteenth day, make another altar, place the iron wheel in the middle, cover it with both hands, and sincerely recite the mantra, and the wheel will manifest a fiery light. At this time, the Dharma-holder will be able to ascend into the sky, and become the lord of the immortals in the bright mantra. If others see it, they will also be able to levitate.'

They will take the mantra holder to the place of the Bright Immortals and enthrone him as king. That person's physical strength will be like that of a Vajra Bodhisattva (Diamond Being). If he wishes to go anywhere, he can do so freely and without hindrance, and his lifespan will be one great kalpa (an extremely long period of time). He will be able to see Maitreya Bodhisattva (the future Buddha) preaching the Dharma. If he desires to be reborn elsewhere, he can be reborn at will. If he wishes to accomplish the Realgar (雄黃) method, he should take one tael of good Realgar and fast for three days on the night when the Ghost Star appears. He should also prepare food for the Sangha (monastic community). In front of the Sangha, he should join his palms and ask for permission to proceed. 【English Translation】 English version Use four pegs made of one-colored Khādira wood (Khādira, a type of tree) to secure the hands and feet of the deceased. The mantra practitioner sits on the heart of the deceased, takes powdered treasures little by little, chanting a mantra each time, and places it into the mouth of the deceased. When the deceased opens their mouth and spits out a Cintāmaṇi jewel (wish-fulfilling jewel) on their tongue, the one who obtains the jewel becomes a Cakravartin (wheel-turning king, an ideal ruler who governs the world) among the Vidyādharas (knowledge holders, immortal beings possessing magical powers). Whatever they desire, the necessary implements and weapons will appear spontaneously. Their body will emit light, illuminating over a hundred yojanas (ancient unit of distance) in all directions. They will have freedom over their lifespan, and if they wish to be a king in another world, they can willingly relinquish this life and be reborn in a Vimala-kṣetra (pure land). If one wishes to accomplish the second method involving the deceased, following the above instructions, make pegs from jujube wood, then take iron powder, chanting a mantra each time, and place it little by little into the mouth of the deceased. If, after one day, a mound of earth is accumulated in the place illuminated by the light, make four pegs from jujube wood, chant the mantra seven times over each, and nail them into each corner of the mound. If you want to achieve the Vajra (Jin Gang Chu, a ritual implement), take a good iron ingot, sixteen fingers long, forge it into a triangular prism, make three heads on each end, grind it with Zitan (Zi Tan, a type of wood) powder and apply it on top. Starting from the first day of the twelfth month, make offerings to the Buddha image, starting from the first day by offering a vegetarian meal to four monks, increasing by one monk each day. You must recite the mantra yourself until the thirteenth day after offering the monks, then do not eat. During solar or lunar eclipses, recite the mantra in front of the Buddha image, causing the mustard seeds in the Vajra to make a sound. All desired wishes will be fulfilled. If the Vajra is used to strike a mountain, the mountain will collapse on its own, and all endeavors will be successful. If the Vajra is placed in the sea, the seawater will follow one's will. If one holds this Vajra and recites the mantra, all Vinayakas (毗那夜迦, obstacle-creating deities) will be unable to obstruct. If entering a river or deep sea, when the water reaches the waist, take one hundred thousand lotus flowers. Recite a mantra for each flower and throw it into the water. Manjushri (妙吉祥天女) will immediately appear, and all wishes will be granted. If taking three hundred thousand lotus stems, recite the mantra and release them into the water as before, all great wishes will be fulfilled. If taking five hundred thousand lotus stems, recite the mantra and release them into the water as before, the greatest wishes will all be granted. If on the first day of the month, take Jati flower fragrance (阇提花香, similar to gardenia fragrance), recite the mantra one hundred and eight times, scattering each flower at the feet of the Buddha image. Do this three times a day until the fifteenth day. For those who perform this practice, firelight will appear on the feet of the image, entering the body of the mantra holder, who will then become invisible and ascend into the sky with companions, becoming a Chakravartin (轉輪王, wheel-turning king) among the luminous immortals, with a lifespan of one kalpa. If sitting on the seashore, using dragon wood as firewood, facing west, holding dragon flower wood, recite the mantra one hundred thousand times and burn it in the fire. The seawater will immediately stir up waves, surging and overflowing. At that time, do not worry or fear, but recite the mantra with sincere and focused mind. A true Brahmin will appear in the water, and all requests will be granted, and all tasks will be accomplished. If drawing a thousand-petaled lotus flower on the ground and sitting on it, recite the mantra one hundred thousand times, the ground will split open, and a deity will appear, ascending into the sky with the mantra holder and companions, becoming a great lord among the luminous immortals, with a lifespan of one kalpa. If from the first day to the fifteenth day of the twelfth month, take Jati flowers, reciting a mantra for each flower, scattering them on the crown of the Buddha, filling one hundred thousand times, the crown will emit light, shining on the person, and one will attain the five supernormal powers. If the flowers and mantras are recited one million times, all wishes will be fulfilled. If taking earth from the ground where earthworms dwell (曲蟮土).
作一師子牛黃涂之。坐安壇中恭敬供養。誦咒至於師子自動。即得成就所求皆得。若乘騎師子所愿生處。速得到彼命同梵天。若作象及水牛一依前法。若也出聲諸天皆來。索者皆得所遣皆作。此轉輪王咒。所須事者皆得成就。所須物者一依心願。以凈信意作此法者無不成就。
爾時世尊說斯法已。復作是言。我若廣說此咒威力成就諸法。窮劫無盡。汝等當知要略而說。
爾時會中。有無量無邊不可思議菩薩摩訶薩天龍八部轉輪王等。心大歡喜咸唱善哉。釋迦如來能說此事難可思議。然我等輩誓當護持此咒。若見有人及以非人。受持讀誦書寫供養愛念思求者。常與擁衛令無災患。若於國中見有此咒。我等恭敬彼國諸人如佛無異。各以威力防禦國境。令惡鬼神兇賊猛將風雨水火使不侵損。百姓熾盛國土安寧財谷豐熟無諸饑饉。疫疹不祥亦令退散。爾時如來贊言善哉善哉。汝等實能如是擁衛。佛說經已諸菩薩眾天龍八部。皆大歡喜信受奉行。

【現代漢語翻譯】 現代漢語譯本:製作一頭塗有牛黃的獅子,將其安放在壇中,恭敬供養。誦咒直到獅子自動,就能成就一切所求。如果乘騎獅子,所愿往生之處,能迅速到達,壽命如同梵天。如果製作大象或水牛,一切依照之前的方法。如果它們發出聲音,諸天都會降臨。索求者都能得到,所派遣者都能完成。這是轉輪王咒,所需之事都能成就,所需之物都能如心所愿。以清凈的信心修持此法的人,沒有不成就的。
當時,世尊說完此法后,又說:『我如果廣說此咒的威力以及成就諸法,即使窮盡劫數也說不完。你們應當知道,我只是簡略地說說。』
當時,法會中有無量無邊不可思議的菩薩摩訶薩(bodhisattva-mahāsattva,大菩薩)、天龍八部(deva-nāga-aṣṭa-parṣad,天眾、龍眾等八類護法神)、轉輪王(cakravartin,擁有統治世界的理想君主)等,心中都非常歡喜,一同稱讚『善哉』。釋迦如來(Śākyamuni,佛教創始人)能夠說出如此難可思議之事。然而我們發誓,一定護持此咒。如果見到有人或非人,受持、讀誦、書寫、供養、愛念、思求此咒,我們常與擁護衛,令其沒有災患。如果在國家中見到此咒,我們恭敬那個國家的所有人,如同對待佛一樣。各自以威力防禦國境,令惡鬼神、兇賊猛將、風雨水火不能侵損。百姓熾盛,國土安寧,財谷豐收,沒有饑饉。疫病疹子等不祥之事,也令其退散。』當時,如來讚歎說:『善哉!善哉!你們確實能夠如此擁護衛。』佛說完此經,諸菩薩眾、天龍八部,都非常歡喜,信受奉行。
《大陀羅尼末法中一字心咒經》
【English Translation】 English version: Make a lion coated with bezoar. Place it in the center of the altar and offer it respectfully. Recite the mantra until the lion moves on its own, and you will achieve all that you seek. If you ride the lion, you will quickly reach the place you wish to be reborn, and your life will be like that of Brahma. If you make an elephant or a water buffalo, follow the previous method. If they make a sound, all the devas (deva, gods) will come. Those who ask will receive, and those who are sent will accomplish. This is the mantra of the Cakravartin (cakravartin, wheel-turning king), and all that is needed will be achieved, and all that is desired will be according to your wishes. Those who perform this practice with pure faith will undoubtedly succeed.
At that time, the World-Honored One, after speaking this Dharma, said again: 'If I were to extensively describe the power of this mantra and the accomplishment of all Dharmas, it would be endless even if I exhausted all kalpas (kalpa, an aeon). You should know that I am speaking only briefly.'
At that time, in the assembly, there were immeasurable, boundless, and inconceivable Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas (bodhisattva-mahāsattva, great bodhisattvas), Deva-Nāga-Aṣṭa-Parṣads (deva-nāga-aṣṭa-parṣad, the eight classes of gods and dragons), Cakravartins (cakravartin, wheel-turning kings), and others, who were all very happy and exclaimed 'Excellent!' Śākyamuni (Śākyamuni, the founder of Buddhism) Tathagata is able to speak of such an inconceivable matter. However, we vow to uphold this mantra. If we see anyone, human or non-human, who upholds, recites, writes, makes offerings to, loves, contemplates, or seeks this mantra, we will always protect and guard them, ensuring they have no calamities. If this mantra is seen in a country, we will respect all the people of that country as if they were the Buddha. Each of us will use our power to defend the borders of the country, preventing evil ghosts, fierce thieves, mighty generals, wind, rain, water, and fire from causing damage. The people will flourish, the country will be peaceful, the wealth and grains will be abundant, and there will be no famine. Epidemics, rashes, and other inauspicious events will also be dispelled.' At that time, the Tathagata praised them, saying, 'Excellent! Excellent! You are truly able to protect and guard in this way.' After the Buddha finished speaking this sutra, all the Bodhisattvas and the Deva-Nāga-Aṣṭa-Parṣads were very happy, believed, accepted, and practiced it.
