如是我聞。一時薄伽梵在大雪山頂曼殊師利童子般若崛中。與大苾芻眾千二百五十俱。皆是大阿羅漢。及無量無數菩薩摩訶薩。所謂普賢菩薩摩訶薩曼殊師利菩薩摩訶薩觀世音菩薩摩訶薩得大勢至菩薩摩訶薩金剛手菩薩摩訶薩虛空藏菩薩摩訶薩除蓋障菩薩摩訶薩地藏菩薩摩訶薩。與如是等諸大菩薩摩訶薩及十八金剛十二大天無量八部善神王等無量眷屬。前後圍繞。

爾時會中有一菩薩摩訶薩。名曰曼殊師利。大悲深重慧無量。諸菩薩中最為上首。即從座起而白佛言。唯愿世尊為大眾說放缽功德。我等大眾欲聞奉行。佛告曼殊師利菩薩言。善哉善哉曼殊師利。汝等諦聽善思念之。我今於此大會一切八部及未來世。為秘密善法修行者及難行苦行神仙賢聖者。說放缽法要。

爾時曼殊師利白佛言。唯然世尊愿樂欲聞。佛告曼殊師利童子言。若有善男子善女人慾飛空缽行佛聖道利益眾生者。先撰高山及以深谷。若如覆缽若如仰缽。寂寞無人最勝境界。作造庵室唯好獨住此清凈道場所

如是我聞。一時,薄伽梵(Bhagavan,世尊)在大雪山頂曼殊師利(Manjusri,文殊菩薩)童子般若崛中。與大比丘眾千二百五十人俱,他們都是大阿羅漢(Arhat,斷盡煩惱的聖者)。以及無量無數的菩薩摩訶薩(Bodhisattva-Mahasattva,大菩薩),即普賢菩薩摩訶薩(Samantabhadra Bodhisattva-Mahasattva)、曼殊師利菩薩摩訶薩、觀世音菩薩摩訶薩(Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva-Mahasattva)、得大勢至菩薩摩訶薩(Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva-Mahasattva)、金剛手菩薩摩訶薩(Vajrapani Bodhisattva-Mahasattva)、虛空藏菩薩摩訶薩(Akasagarbha Bodhisattva-Mahasattva)、除蓋障菩薩摩訶薩(Sarvanivaranaviskambhin Bodhisattva-Mahasattva)、地藏菩薩摩訶薩(Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva-Mahasattva)。與如是等等的諸大菩薩摩訶薩,以及十八金剛、十二大天、無量八部善神王等等無量的眷屬,前後圍繞。

爾時,會中有一位菩薩摩訶薩,名叫曼殊師利。他大悲心深重,智慧無量,在諸菩薩中最為上首。即從座位上站起來,對佛說:『唯愿世尊為大眾宣說放缽的功德,我等大眾想要聽聞並奉行。』佛告訴曼殊師利菩薩說:『善哉善哉,曼殊師利。你們仔細聽,好好思念。我今在此大會上,為一切八部以及未來世,為秘密善法修行者以及難行苦行的神仙賢聖者,宣說放缽的法要。』

爾時,曼殊師利對佛說:『是的,世尊,我們非常願意聽聞。』佛告訴曼殊師利童子說:『若有善男子善女人想要飛空持缽,行佛聖道,利益眾生,首先要選擇高山以及深谷,或者像倒扣的缽,或者像仰著的缽,寂寞無人,最為殊勝的境界。在那裡建造庵室,最好獨自居住於此清凈的道場。』

Chapter One: Releasing the Bowl

Thus have I heard. At one time, the Bhagavan (World Honored One) was in the Prajna Cave of Manjusri (Manjusri Bodhisattva) on the summit of the Great Snow Mountain. He was with a great assembly of Bhikshus, twelve hundred and fifty in all, all of whom were great Arhats (Enlightened beings who have extinguished all defilements). And immeasurable, countless Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas (Great Bodhisattvas), namely Samantabhadra Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, Manjusri Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, Vajrapani Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, Akasagarbha Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, Sarvanivaranaviskambhin Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva-Mahasattva. With such great Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas, as well as the Eighteen Vajras, the Twelve Great Devas, immeasurable Eight Classes of benevolent spirit kings, and countless retinues, surrounding Him before and behind.

At that time, in the assembly, there was a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva named Manjusri. He was deeply compassionate, his wisdom was immeasurable, and he was the foremost among all Bodhisattvas. He rose from his seat and said to the Buddha: 'May the World Honored One, for the sake of the assembly, explain the merits of releasing the bowl. We, the assembly, wish to hear and practice it.' The Buddha told Manjusri Bodhisattva: 'Excellent, excellent, Manjusri. Listen attentively and contemplate well. I will now, in this great assembly, for all the Eight Classes and for future generations, for those who practice secret virtuous Dharma and for the ascetics and sages who practice difficult austerities, explain the essential methods of releasing the bowl.'

At that time, Manjusri said to the Buddha: 'Yes, World Honored One, we are very willing to hear.' The Buddha told Manjusri: 'If there are good men and good women who wish to fly in the sky holding a bowl, practice the holy path of the Buddha, and benefit sentient beings, they should first choose a high mountain or a deep valley, or a place like an overturned bowl or an upturned bowl, secluded and without people, the most excellent environment. There, they should build a hermitage and preferably live alone in this pure place of practice.'


。斷語無言斷五穀粒。餐食松葉吞水吸氣。禪定靜思。誦八大龍王陀羅尼及龍王名號莫為異緣。若過三百日取粳米一斛。一百日干之。能持齋戒不犯威儀。一心稱念寶勝佛名。次誦多寶佛名。次取空缽召請諸龍王及迦樓羅鳥王。各咒一萬三千遍。沒于空中而起大風輪。爾時金翅鳥王及娑伽羅大龍王等。乘其風輪頂載空缽。臻於天上諸龍王宮及阿修羅宮。即取長年仙藥施與行人。行者服已住壽一千歲神通如意。能堪修行佛妙法道。若親近女色及食肉類不得飛缽。神力頓止。是則先佛修行要術神仙秘法。我今為汝及未來世無福有情說是法要。汝曼殊師利持此法要。當須演說。於我滅后末法有情。因是得脫生死苦海。

曼殊師利言。我等大會為獲大利。我等奉持此秘密法利益眾生。一切悉地皆令滿足。

善惡因果品第二

爾時會中有一菩薩摩訶薩。名曰不空王大罥索觀自在菩薩摩訶薩。即從座起偏袒右肩合掌白佛言。如是世尊。今此大眾得聞空缽大飽滿如意寶珠王法。永厭人間志樂山林。不受信施欲行佛道。是法微妙為大方便利益有情。是為行人如意珍寶。然于末世法欲滅時。有情無福信根淺薄。不堪修行諸佛道法。如是有情多造惡多墮惡趣無有出期。皆因先世大慳貪業。二世障礙皆是貧窮無福慧業故唯

【English Translation】 English version: Severing speech, abstaining from the five grains, consuming pine needles, drinking water and inhaling air, engaging in meditative contemplation. Recite the Eight Great Dragon Kings Dharani and the names of the Dragon Kings without being distracted by other matters. If one can persist for more than three hundred days, take one 'hu' of 'japonica' rice and dry it for one hundred days. Be able to uphold the precepts, not violate the rules of conduct, and wholeheartedly recite the name of Ratnasambhava Buddha, then recite the name of Prabhutaratna Buddha. Next, take an empty bowl and summon the Dragon Kings and Garuda bird king, each chanting the mantra thirteen thousand times. Throw the bowl into the air, and a great wind wheel will arise. At that time, the Golden-Winged Bird King and Sagara Great Dragon King, etc., will ride the wind wheel, with the empty bowl on their heads, reaching the palaces of the Dragon Kings in the heavens and the palaces of the Asuras. Immediately, obtain the elixir of longevity and bestow it upon practitioners. After taking it, practitioners can live for a thousand years, possess supernatural powers as desired, and be able to cultivate the Buddha's wonderful Dharma path. If one is intimate with women or consumes meat, one cannot fly the bowl, and the divine power will stop immediately. This is the essential method of cultivation of past Buddhas, the secret art of immortals. I now declare this Dharma essence for you and for sentient beings in future ages who lack merit. You, Manjusri (Manjusri), must hold this Dharma essence and should expound it widely, so that sentient beings in the Dharma-ending age after my extinction may thereby escape the sea of suffering of birth and death. Manjusri said, 'This great assembly of ours is to obtain great benefits. We uphold this secret Dharma to benefit sentient beings, so that all Siddhis (Siddhi, accomplishments) may be fulfilled.' Chapter Two: Good and Evil Karma At that time, in the assembly, there was a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva (Bodhisattva-Mahasattva) named Amoghankusa Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva-Mahasattva (Amoghankusa Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva-Mahasattva), who rose from his seat, bared his right shoulder, and joined his palms, saying to the Buddha, 'Yes, World Honored One. Now these masses have heard the Dharma of the Empty Bowl Great Fulfillment Wish-Fulfilling Jewel King, and are forever weary of the human world, longing for the mountains and forests, not accepting the offerings of believers, and wanting to cultivate the Buddha's path. This Dharma is subtle, a great expedient, able to benefit sentient beings, and is a wish-fulfilling treasure for practitioners. However, in the Dharma-ending age, when the Dharma is about to perish, sentient beings lack merit, their roots of faith are shallow, and they are unable to cultivate the Dharma of the Buddhas. These sentient beings mostly create evil karma, mostly fall into evil destinies, with no time of escape, all because of great greed in their past lives. The obstacles in this life are all caused by the karma of poverty and lack of merit and wisdom.'


然。世尊為末世有情行秘密法期佛果者。說福智業如意寶輪。諸佛法輪未曾說是寶部方便。今於此會說是法輪利益有情。

爾時佛告觀自在不空王菩薩言。善哉善哉觀自在。汝等自從無始以來。于大劫中修習大慈大悲三昧。即得普現色身三昧如意寶珠王身。今為此問請說大慈法要。汝等諦聽善思念之。我今為汝說貧福業因果之事。若諸有情雖有智性而無福報。是故作罪墮諸惡道。是人多生大慳貪心。修行般若故今世得智無福貧窮。若諸有情雖有福德而無智慧。是人先世廣作佈施。不修禪定故今世有福而無智慧。如是業報種種不同。是則定業難改。因果決定故。是故難轉諸佛有異方便秘密妙術。能轉有情定業報力得福長壽。一切吉祥大悉地法決定成就。汝等且得須臾之頃。有一大龍王主。名曰能辦一切有情所求愿樂。去此不遠有一大池。清凈無垢無有惡鳥。四岸即是四寶所成。金銀琉璃車𤦲頗梨真珠等無量莊嚴所所遍佈。于其中有一大龍王坐於五柱銅寶宮殿。名曰無熱惱龍王。能辦諸業位居第八地不動三昧。能有慈悲為一切有情。常有甘露智慧法水長養五穀生長萬物。因是人法無有缺減。我今行至般若水池大龍王宮。欲說如意寶珠大菩薩法。汝等大眾暫時可持。其時必有證。

爾時如意輪觀自在大菩薩等。

【現代漢語翻譯】 現代漢語譯本: 好的。世尊爲了末法時代想要通過修行秘密法而證得佛果的有情眾生,宣說了福智業如意寶輪。過去的諸佛法輪從未宣說過屬於寶部的這種方便法門。今天我在此法會上宣說此法輪,是爲了利益有情眾生。

這時,佛告訴觀自在不空王菩薩說:『很好,很好,觀自在。你們自從無始以來,于漫長的時間裡修習大慈大悲三昧,因此證得了普現色身三昧,獲得瞭如意寶珠王身。今天你為此事提問,請你宣說大慈法要。你們仔細聽,好好思考。我現在為你們宣說貧窮和福報的業因果報。如果有些有情雖然有智慧,卻沒有福報,因此造作罪業,墮入各種惡道。這些人大多是因為前世有很大的慳貪之心。因為修行般若的緣故,今世獲得了智慧,但是因為沒有福報而貧窮。如果有些有情雖然有福德,卻沒有智慧,這些人是因為前世廣泛地行佈施,但是沒有修習禪定的緣故,所以今世有福報卻沒有智慧。像這樣的業報種種不同,這是因為定業難以改變,因果是決定的緣故。』因此,難以轉變這些定業,但是諸佛有特別的方便秘密妙術,能夠轉變有情眾生的定業果報之力,使他們獲得福報和長壽,一切吉祥和大成就法必定成就。你們暫且稍等片刻。有一位大龍王,名叫能辦一切有情所求愿樂(能滿足一切有情願望),離這裡不遠的地方有一個大池,清凈無垢,沒有惡鳥。池的四岸都是由四寶所成,如金、銀、琉璃、車磲、頗梨、珍珠等,有無量的莊嚴遍佈。其中有一位大龍王,坐在五柱銅寶宮殿里,名叫無熱惱龍王(沒有煩惱的龍王)。他能成辦各種事業,位居第八地不動三昧,能夠以慈悲心對待一切有情眾生,常以甘露智慧法水滋養五穀,生長萬物。因此,人法沒有缺失減少。我現在前往般若水池大龍王宮,想要宣說如意寶珠大菩薩法。你們大眾暫時可以等待,到時必定會有所證悟。

這時,如意輪觀自在大菩薩等。

【English Translation】 English version: Thus. The World Honored One, for the sentient beings of the degenerate age who aspire to attain Buddhahood through the practice of secret methods, expounded the Wish-Fulfilling Jewel Wheel of Merit and Wisdom. The Dharma wheels of past Buddhas had never proclaimed this expedient method belonging to the Jewel Family. Today, I proclaim this Dharma wheel in this assembly to benefit sentient beings.

At that time, the Buddha said to Avalokiteśvara Amoghapāśa Bodhisattva: 'Excellent, excellent, Avalokiteśvara. Since beginningless time, you have cultivated the Samadhi of Great Compassion and Great Mercy throughout vast kalpas, and thus attained the Samadhi of Universally Manifesting Forms, acquiring the body of the Wish-Fulfilling Jewel King. Today, you ask about this matter, so please expound the essential Dharma of Great Compassion. Listen attentively and contemplate it well. I will now explain to you the karmic causes and effects of poverty and fortune. If some sentient beings have intelligence but lack fortune, they create sins and fall into various evil realms. These people mostly have great greed in their past lives. Because of practicing Prajna, they attain wisdom in this life but are poor due to lack of fortune. If some sentient beings have fortune but lack wisdom, these people extensively practiced giving in their past lives but did not cultivate meditation, so they have fortune in this life but lack wisdom. Such karmic retributions are various and different, because fixed karma is difficult to change, and cause and effect are definite.' Therefore, it is difficult to transform these fixed karmas, but the Buddhas have special expedient secret methods that can transform the power of sentient beings' fixed karmic retributions, enabling them to obtain fortune and longevity, and all auspiciousness and great accomplishment will definitely be achieved. You may wait for a moment. There is a great Dragon King named 'Able to Accomplish All Sentient Beings' Desired Joys' (one who can fulfill all sentient beings' wishes), not far from here, there is a large pond, pure and without defilement, without evil birds. The four shores of the pond are made of four treasures, such as gold, silver, lapis lazuli, conch, crystal, pearls, etc., with immeasurable adornments spread throughout. In it, there is a great Dragon King sitting in a five-pillared copper treasure palace, named Anavatapta Dragon King (Dragon King without affliction). He can accomplish various deeds, residing in the eighth ground, the immovable Samadhi, able to have compassion for all sentient beings, constantly using the nectar of wisdom Dharma water to nourish the five grains and grow all things. Therefore, human Dharma is without deficiency or reduction. I am now going to the Prajna pond, the great Dragon King's palace, wanting to expound the Wish-Fulfilling Jewel Great Bodhisattva Dharma. You all may wait for a while, and you will surely have some realization at that time.

At that time, Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva of the Wish-Fulfilling Wheel, and others.


大法王子金剛手等。大灌頂位大菩薩摩訶薩眾。一切眾會默然待時。

如意寶珠品第三

爾時無熱惱池龍王。從無熱惱池銅輪龍宮自然涌出。詣釋迦牟尼佛所。從紫雲下禮拜世尊恭敬供養。與諸眷屬白佛言世尊。唯愿入我宮中受我供養。池中有情願樂欲聞甚深妙法。唯愿如來以大慈悲願垂納受。是故我等及以眷屬來詣奉請。

爾時世尊受龍王請。即起寶座放大光明照曜十方。諸佛世界常住法界。清凈寶剎六種震動。天雨寶花繽紛而下。猶如冬雨。亦如飛鳥。

爾時十方諸佛世尊。大菩薩眾一切八部。有神通力者。一切皆來一時雲集。

爾時世尊與諸大眾俱。皆步大虛空中。乘黃云上白蓮華臺。作天妓樂入龍王宮。八部大眾亦隨佛后。各現神力。時阿耨達池大龍王宮六種震動。雨寶蓮華天鼓自鳴。光明照耀。

爾時池中龍子及龍女等。諸大眷屬一時來集。莊嚴寶殿敷師子座。辦備供物。奉迎如來。

爾時世尊以神通力來入龍宮。就寶師子座。其座能以月光摩尼水精白銀妙真珠寶而為莊嚴。即其宮殿赤銅五柱寶宮殿。左右各有五千樓閣。亦其宮殿有諸寶樹。處處皆有寶池寶沼寶山寶崛亦有寶鳥。所謂孔雀鸚鵡命命諸鳥和鳴遊樂。

爾時如來坐寶座上猶如金山。受其供養

如意寶珠品第三

這時,無熱惱池(Anavatapta)的龍王,從無熱惱池的銅輪龍宮中自然涌現出來,來到釋迦牟尼佛(Sakyamuni Buddha)所在之處,從紫雲之上禮拜世尊,恭敬地供養。他與他的眷屬一起對佛說:『世尊,懇請您進入我的宮中接受我的供養。池中的眾生都希望聽聞甚深微妙的佛法。懇請如來以大慈悲之心,應允我們的請求。因此,我們及我們的眷屬前來奉請。』

這時,世尊接受了龍王的邀請,立即從寶座上起身,放出大光明,照耀十方諸佛世界,常住於法界。清凈的寶剎發生了六種震動,天空中降下寶花,繽紛而下,猶如冬天的雨,也像飛鳥一般。

這時,十方諸佛世尊,大菩薩眾,以及一切天龍八部中具有神通力者,都一時前來雲集。

這時,世尊與諸位大眾一起,都行走在大虛空中,乘坐著黃云之上的白蓮花臺,演奏著天上的音樂,進入龍王宮。八部大眾也跟隨在佛的後面,各自展現神通。這時,阿耨達池(Anavatapta)的大龍王宮發生了六種震動,天空中降下寶蓮花,天鼓自動鳴響,光明照耀。

這時,池中的龍子和龍女等,以及諸位大眷屬,一時都聚集起來,莊嚴寶殿,鋪設獅子座,準備好供養的物品,恭迎如來。

這時,世尊以神通力進入龍宮,登上寶獅子座。那座位是用月光摩尼、水精、白銀、妙真珠寶裝飾而成。那宮殿是赤銅五柱的寶宮殿,左右各有五千座樓閣。宮殿里有各種寶樹,處處都有寶池、寶沼、寶山、寶崛,也有寶鳥,如孔雀、鸚鵡、命命鳥等,都在和鳴遊樂。

這時,如來坐在寶座上,猶如金山一般,接受他們的供養。

【English Translation】 English version The great Dharma Prince Vajrapani (Vajrapani) and other great Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas who have attained the great initiation, all the assembly were silent, awaiting the opportune moment.

Chapter Three: The Wish-Fulfilling Jewel

At that time, the Dragon King of Anavatapta (Anavatapta) Lake emerged naturally from the Copper Wheel Dragon Palace in Anavatapta Lake and went to where Sakyamuni Buddha (Sakyamuni Buddha) was. From above the purple clouds, he prostrated before the World-Honored One, offering respectful worship. Together with his retinue, he said to the Buddha: 'World-Honored One, may you enter my palace and receive my offerings. The sentient beings in the lake wish to hear the profound and wonderful Dharma. May the Tathagata, with great compassion, accept our request. Therefore, we and our retinue have come to invite you.'

At that time, the World-Honored One accepted the Dragon King's invitation and immediately arose from his jeweled seat, emitting great light that illuminated the worlds of the ten directions, abiding constantly in the Dharma Realm. The pure and jeweled lands shook in six ways, and jeweled flowers rained down from the sky, falling in profusion like winter rain or like flying birds.

At that time, the World-Honored Buddhas of the ten directions, the great Bodhisattva assemblies, and all the eight classes of beings with supernatural powers all came and gathered together at once.

At that time, the World-Honored One, together with the great assembly, all walked in the great empty sky, riding on white lotus platforms above yellow clouds, playing heavenly music, and entered the Dragon King's palace. The eight classes of beings also followed behind the Buddha, each displaying their supernatural powers. At that time, the great Dragon King's palace in Anavatapta (Anavatapta) Lake shook in six ways, jeweled lotus flowers rained down from the sky, heavenly drums sounded on their own, and light shone brightly.

At that time, the dragon princes and dragon daughters in the lake, as well as the great retinue, all gathered together at once, adorning the jeweled palace, arranging lion thrones, preparing offerings, and respectfully welcoming the Tathagata.

At that time, the World-Honored One entered the Dragon Palace with his supernatural power and ascended the jeweled lion throne. The throne was adorned with moonlight mani jewels, crystal, silver, and wonderful true jewels. The palace was a red copper five-pillared jeweled palace, with five thousand pavilions on the left and right. In the palace were various jeweled trees, and everywhere there were jeweled ponds, jeweled marshes, jeweled mountains, and jeweled caves, as well as jeweled birds such as peacocks, parrots, and kalavinka birds, all harmoniously singing and playing.

At that time, the Tathagata sat on the jeweled throne, like a golden mountain, receiving their offerings.


。為大龍王宣說法要。其事具如阿耨達池龍王經中說。

爾時會中有一龍女。相好奇妙猶如天女心意和雅。如大菩薩名曰善女。即從座起頂禮佛足而白佛言。我等先世罪障深重。貪恚愚癡而不殖智種。故今我受生於湖水中而為女身。雖無熱惱及諸苦患猶居畜類鱗族之中。愿我生生不受女身不作女事。以供養佛及聞法力。皆悉迴向佛微妙道。不求余果唯期成佛。

爾時龍王女。即于佛前以偈贊佛言。

世尊面目  猶如月光  清凈殊妙  無有比類  我等今日  歸依聞法  宿福深厚  得道不虛  我有寶珠  奉獻世尊  利益有情  令得法寶  報謝佛恩  守護密教  齊及一切  令得佛果  演說三乘  利益一切

爾時龍王女善女說斯偈已。持一寶珠奉獻如來。而作是言。唯愿世尊受我寶珠。是如意寶珠。即龍淵底九重蒼海中在水精寶篋中。父王隱秘諸龍守護崇敬尊重。猶如帝釋甘露寶瓶。滿一切愿。若諸有情得此寶珠。一切所作一切所求。如意如願一切悉地皆得成就。我今重法即輕寶財故。奉上世尊價直無數。唯愿世雄愿垂納受。

佛告龍女言。汝今欲為守護正法獻上寶珠。我受信心凈白寶珠。不受麗龍寶珠。所以者何。如意寶珠者。非有寶非無寶。不有情不非

【English Translation】 English version: He expounded the Dharma essentials for the Great Dragon King. The details of this event are as described in the Anavatapta Dragon King Sutra.

At that time, in the assembly, there was a Dragon maiden (Naga maiden), whose appearance was extraordinarily beautiful, like a celestial maiden, and whose mind was peaceful and refined, like a great Bodhisattva. Her name was Good Woman (善女). She rose from her seat, prostrated at the Buddha's feet, and said to the Buddha: 'We have accumulated deep karmic obstacles in our past lives, being greedy, hateful, and ignorant, and not planting the seeds of wisdom. Therefore, in this life, I am born in a lake and have a female body. Although I am free from heat and suffering, I still dwell among the scaly creatures of the animal realm. I vow that in every life, I will not be born as a woman, nor perform the duties of a woman. With the power of offering to the Buddha and hearing the Dharma, I will dedicate all of it to the Buddha's subtle path, seeking no other reward, but only aspiring to attain Buddhahood.'

At that time, the Dragon King's daughter (Dragon King's daughter) praised the Buddha with a verse in front of the Buddha:

'The World Honored One's face, is like the moonlight, pure, sublime, and incomparable. We today, take refuge and hear the Dharma, our past blessings are profound, attaining the path is true and not false. I have a precious jewel, I offer it to the World Honored One, to benefit sentient beings, enabling them to obtain the Dharma treasure, to repay the Buddha's kindness, to protect the secret teachings, to extend to all, enabling them to attain Buddhahood, expounding the Three Vehicles, to benefit all.'

At that time, the Dragon King's daughter, Good Woman (Good Woman), having spoken this verse, presented a precious jewel to the Tathagata, and said: 'May the World Honored One accept my precious jewel, this is a Cintamani (如意寶珠), located in a crystal treasure box in the ninth layer of the azure sea at the bottom of the Dragon Abyss. My father secretly treasures it, and the dragons protect, revere, and respect it, like Indra's (帝釋天) nectar vase, fulfilling all wishes. If sentient beings obtain this precious jewel, all that they do, all that they seek, will be as they wish, and all Siddhis (悉地) will be accomplished. I now value the Dharma more than precious treasures, therefore I offer it to the World Honored One, its value is immeasurable. May the World Hero, compassionately accept it.'

The Buddha said to the Dragon maiden: 'Now you wish to offer a precious jewel to protect the Proper Dharma, I accept your pure white jewel of faith, but I do not accept your beautiful dragon jewel. Why is that? Because the Cintamani (如意寶珠), is neither a treasure nor not a treasure, it is neither sentient nor non-sentient.'

【English Translation】 English version: Emotion. Neither stone nor metal. Naturally arising Dānà bōluómì (檀那波羅蜜, the perfection of generosity). All Buddhas and Bodhisattvas possess four kinds of precious jewels, namely the jewels of loving-kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity, to bestow upon sentient beings in the twenty-five realms of existence. Thus, in the ocean of the Dharma realm, there is a Vajra banner adorned with these precious jewels. I constantly rain down the precious wealth of moral discipline, concentration, and wisdom for all sentient beings, fulfilling their needs with the six perfections (liù bōluómì) and the ten stages, ascending the eighty-four thousand Dharma gates. *Although the dragon palace is nearby, the karmic results of water and land are different. In the human realm, there are also wish-fulfilling jewels. The ten virtuous jewels of a Chakravartin king are of the highest quality. The middle and lower qualities are the eight precepts and five precepts. People may hear of them but not grasp their essence. If wise individuals uphold the precepts, laws, and rituals, protecting the Dharma and benefiting humans and devas, they may also obtain a true Cintamani jewel. This jewel is a great secret wish-fulfilling jewel created in the human realm, different from the jewels of the dragon palace. Dragons represent the virtue of water, humans the virtue of fire. The jewels transformed by yin and yang are different in their positions. They are also different from the pearls in the sea. Obtaining a human being is like obtaining a wish-fulfilling jewel. This is rare, so it is considered a fabrication. Therefore, I do not accept your wish-fulfilling jewel. You should protect my Dharma and sentient beings in the future, not letting them lose mindfulness. This is a true pearl. This is a precious jewel. At that time, the World Honored One finished speaking this Dharma teaching. The dragon girl, hearing the profound Dharma, wept with tears streaming down her face and prostrated with her five limbs on the ground, saying to the Buddha, 'World Honored One, I would rather lose my life than disobey the Buddha's command.' At that time, Akasagarbha Bodhisattva Mahasattva (Xūkōngzàng Púsà mó訶sà, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Akasagarbha) and Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Mahasattva (Dìzàng Púsà mó訶sà, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Ksitigarbha), each with five hundred members of their retinue, arose from their seats and said to the Buddha, 'May the Buddha expound the Dharma of the wish-fulfilling jewel, eliminating the poverty and suffering of sentient beings without merit, and enabling them to obtain the supreme and unsurpassed great fruit of blessings, wisdom, auspiciousness, and excellence.' The Buddha told the two great beings, 'Excellent, excellent. You should uphold the Buddha's words and not forget them. I now wish to speak of this Dharma, which is the profound secret treasure of all Buddhas, the sacred eye of all Bodhisattvas, the complete embodiment of the flower platform of Vairocana (Pílúzhēnà), and the Vajra peak jewel of Vairocana. 一切功德頂上最上最尊微妙甚深大灌頂寶。我今宣說。汝等受持利益世間善思念之。我今告汝等宿福深厚深位大士。不能薄地凡夫所知。若有眾生欲得天中龍宮福壽隨意寶珠。隨大阿阇梨先授灌頂法已。既入佛境界大道場已。深心受授大金剛志。即身受授大三昧耶戒不犯威儀。為利有情守護正法故造作寶珠。復以十一種珍寶合成如意寶珠。所謂一者即佛舍利。二者黃金。三者白銀。四者沉香。五者白檀。六者紫檀。七者香桃。八者桑沈。九者白心樹沈。十者柏沈。十一者真漆。此中金銀造作團形為如意寶。于其中納佛舍利三十二粒。以香末泥塗寶器上。造寶珠已。即以赤色九條袈裟。是𧙪隱秘入十八重清凈梵篋。一一重表九山八海。加大鐵圍山。最後梵篋四寶色成。第一鑌鐵色。中間黃金色赤白銀色。一一八重悉皆封之。莫見非人小人乃至天魔。既造作畢。安置道場辦備香花。恭敬禮拜。必成大悉地。莫生疑念晝夜慇勤修行唸誦。是為人間秘密精進大如意珠玉。更不龍宮珍寶珠玉。是為人中最上寶珠。若無舍利以金銀琉璃水精馬腦玻梨眾寶等造作舍利。珠如上所用。行者無力者。即至大海邊拾清凈砂石即為舍利。亦用藥草竹木根節造為舍利。其數三十二粒。七粒為主。大如雞子計。即造寶珠。其珠放光普照一切貧窮困

大曼荼羅品第四

The Buddha told Vajrapani Bodhisattva Mahasattva: 'If a yogi wishes to fulfill their desires, they should establish a mandala ritual, and pray and vow to the Wish-fulfilling Jewel King Śarīra Bodhisattva. The desired wish will naturally emanate subtle words from the jewel, saying: What wish do you desire? I will now fulfill it for you.' At that time, the practitioner should express their heart's desires, including all worldly and supramundane wishes, such as longevity, blessings, being respected by all, subduing evil people, long-life elixirs, entering cave meditation, flying supernatural powers, etc. These are the desires sought in this present life. As for the perfection of the six perfections (Pāramitās), transcending and realizing the ten grounds (Bhūmis), the seven factors of enlightenment (Sapta bojjhaṅgā), the eightfold noble path (Aṣṭāṅga mārga), the four immeasurable minds (catu-apramāṇa) and other such dharmas, these are called supramundane dharmas. All these thoughts and aspirations will surely be accomplished.'

The Fourth Chapter on the Great Mandala

The Buddha told Akashagarbha Bodhisattva: 'A practitioner who recites mantras and wishes to create a mandala to achieve Mahāsiddhi (great accomplishment) should use cow dung mixed with yellow clay to ritually smear the ground. Decorate the altar with white sandalwood, nard, turmeric, camphor, and musk. Place the Wish-fulfilling Jewel King in the center of the altar, the Great Perfection of Wisdom Sutra (Mahāprajñāpāramitā Sūtra) directly behind it, and the Great Perfection of Wisdom Bodhisattva behind that. On the right side, place Amoghapāśa Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva, Akashagarbha Bodhisattva, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, Maitreya Bodhisattva, and others. On the front left, place Manjushri Bodhisattva, Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, Suryaprabha Bodhisattva, and Chandraprabha Bodhisattva. Below the front left, place Achala (Acala, Immovable One). Daily observe the eight precepts (Aṣṭāṅga-śīla), generate the Bodhi mind, and construct this altar. All siddhis will definitely be accomplished.'

The Buddha also said:


今重說畫像曼荼羅法。先畫大海。其大海中亦畫二階大寶宮殿。無量珍寶而為莊嚴。于其殿中畫七寶壇。寶蓮華上畫如意寶珠王。即令放火光。亦其右邊畫曼殊師利菩薩像。於左邊畫虛空藏菩薩像。各依本法令執幖幟。其宮殿外。右方海中畫難陀龍王。頂具九頭乘黑雲。左手持寶珠。守護如意珠王。左方海中畫跋難陀龍王。頂有七頭乘黑雲。右手執摩尼。護持摩尼寶王像。是名畫像曼荼羅法。即對此像結印唸誦。無量悉地不求自得極秘無上甚深秘密。無比無過上法。

娜謨曷羅怛那多羅夜耶(Namo Ratna Trayaya)(一)南無阿利耶(Namo Arya)(二)波盧吉帝濕波啰耶(Avalokiteshvaraya)(三)菩提薩跢波耶摩訶薩跢波耶摩訶迦盧尼迦耶(Bodhisattvaya Mahasattvaya Mahakarunikaya)(四)他爾耶他唵阿慕伽摩尼(Om Amoghamani)(九)摩訶摩抳(Mahamani)(十)缽頭摩摩抳(Padmamani)(十一)莎訶(Svaha)

佛說完這個陀羅尼后,當時龍宮發生了六種震動,下起了如意寶珠雨,就像春雨一樣盛大地降落。

【English Translation】 English version: Now, I will further explain the painting of the Mandala method. First, draw a great ocean. Within this great ocean, also draw a two-tiered great treasure palace, adorned with immeasurable jewels. Within this palace, draw a seven-jeweled altar. On the jeweled lotus, draw the Cintamani-cakravartin (Wish-fulfilling Jewel King), causing it to emit fiery light. On its right side, draw an image of Manjushri (Bodhisattva of Wisdom). On the left side, draw an image of Akasagarbha (Bodhisattva of Space Treasury), each holding their respective emblems according to their original practices. Outside the palace, in the ocean to the right, draw Nanda (Dragon King), with nine heads atop black clouds, holding a jewel in his left hand, guarding the Wish-fulfilling Jewel King. In the ocean to the left, draw Upananda (Dragon King), with seven heads atop black clouds, holding a Mani (Wish-fulfilling Jewel) in his right hand, protecting the Mani Jewel King image. This is called the painting of the Mandala method. By forming mudras and reciting mantras before this image, immeasurable siddhis (accomplishments) will be obtained without seeking, an extremely secret, unsurpassed, profoundly deep secret, incomparable and flawless supreme Dharma.

Chapter Five: Empowerment Mudra and Mantra

At that time, the Buddha told Vajra-guhya-hasta Bodhisattva (Vajra Secret Hand Bodhisattva): 'If there are Buddha-sons who desire to obtain the supreme great siddhi Dharma, they should follow the teachings of the master and not rely on their own wisdom. First, they must receive the empowerment ritual, and then form the Wish-fulfilling Jewel King mudra and recite the root dharani. I now wish to speak of it; are you pleased to hear it?' Vajra-guhya-hasta Bodhisattva said to the Buddha: 'May the World-Honored Buddha speak for us; we are eager to hear.'

At that time, the World-Honored Buddha spoke the root dharani, saying:

Namo Ratna Trayaya (Homage to the Three Jewels)(1), Namo Arya (Homage to the Noble)(2), Avalokiteshvaraya (Homage to Avalokiteshvara)(3), Bodhisattvaya Mahasattvaya Mahakarunikaya (To the Bodhisattva, the Great Being, the Great Compassionate One)(4), Tadyatha Om Amoghamani (Thus: Om, Infallible Jewel)(9), Mahamani (Great Jewel)(10), Padmamani (Lotus Jewel)(11), Svaha (Hail!)(12)

After the Buddha spoke this dharani, at that moment, the dragon palace shook in six ways, and a rain of Wish-fulfilling Jewels fell, like a heavy spring rain.


下。

爾時大眾皆得證果。善女龍王女發大菩提心亦發誓言。愿我守護如來遺教遺身所在亦佛所說人中能作如意寶珠王所在國土。如守己命加護己服。即增寶威令得悉地莫令乏少。但請我身令護寶珠。掘一寶池。即殖蓮華不見人畜。唯入阿阇梨及以侍者。莫入餘人。我住其中守護寶珠。護持正法。

佛言善哉善哉。善神水天大龍王女。如汝所愿。

爾時秘密手菩薩白佛言。唯愿說此大陀羅尼大灌頂印。

佛告秘密手菩薩言。是則一切如來肝心秘密印。今就汝請。我當說之。

時佛即說其印相言。二手合掌。以二無名指二小指屈掌中。右押左相叉。二大指亦右押左入掌中。二中指豎並微屈指頭。以二頭指押二中指側中節上。指頭相拄。此印名觀自在不空如意寶珠王印。能成一切所求事業。

阿阇梨成佛品第六

爾時釋迦牟尼佛。入一切佛發心覺悟法界平等性者修行菩提大涅槃常住金剛三昧。說有情決定成佛真言曰。

唵阿鑁覽坎佉摩尼缽頭迷吽

若諸有情。若誦一遍。當得度脫生死大海到彼大涅槃岸。一切有情成滿三種悉地。一切異愿一切善愿一時成就。是故汝等應當一心修行此法得最勝無上悉地。今開秘密無上寶庫。與諸修行真言法者。即是無上甚深秘法。

【English Translation】 English version: At that time, the assembly all attained the fruit. The Dragon King's daughter, Good Woman, generated great Bodhicitta (the mind of enlightenment) and also vowed: 'May I protect the places where the Tathagata's (Thus Come One) bequeathed teachings and relics are located, as well as the countries where those who can act as the Cintamani-cakravarti (Wish-Fulfilling Jewel King) among humans, as spoken by the Buddha, reside. Just as I would protect my own life and cherish my own clothes. May I increase the majestic power of the treasures, enabling them to attain Siddhi (accomplishment), and prevent any deficiency. But please allow me to guard the jewel, dig a treasure pond, and plant lotuses, preventing humans and animals from entering, except for the Acharya (teacher) and attendants. Let no one else enter. I will dwell within it, guarding the jewel and upholding the Dharma (teachings).' The Buddha said: 'Excellent, excellent. Good Spirit, Water God, Great Dragon King's daughter, may it be as you wish.' At that time, Guhyahasta Bodhisattva (Secret Hand Bodhisattva) said to the Buddha: 'May you please explain this great Mahadharani (great mantra) and great Abhisheka (initiation) Mudra (hand gesture).' The Buddha told Guhyahasta Bodhisattva: 'This is the secret seal of the liver and heart of all Tathagatas (Thus Come Ones). Now, because of your request, I will explain it to you.' At that time, the Buddha then spoke of the appearance of this Mudra (hand gesture): 'Join the palms of both hands together. Bend the two ring fingers and two little fingers into the palms. Cross the right hand over the left. The two thumbs also enter the palms with the right thumb over the left. The two middle fingers stand upright and slightly bend at the tips. Press the two index fingers onto the sides of the middle joints of the two middle fingers, with the tips of the fingers touching each other.' This Mudra (hand gesture) is called Avalokiteśvara Amogha Cintamani-cakravarti Mudra (the Unfailing Wish-Fulfilling Jewel King Mudra of Avalokiteśvara), and it can accomplish all desired endeavors. Chapter Six: The Acharya (teacher) Attaining Buddhahood At that time, Sakyamuni Buddha (the Buddha of the Shakya clan) entered the Vajra-samadhi (diamond concentration) of all Buddhas who have generated the mind of enlightenment, awakened to the equality of the Dharmadhatu (realm of reality), and cultivated the great Mahaparinirvana (great complete nirvana) of Bodhi (enlightenment), which is permanent and abiding. He spoke the true words that sentient beings will definitely attain Buddhahood: Om A vaṃ laṃ khaṃ kha mani padme hūṃ If all sentient beings recite it once, they will be able to cross the great ocean of birth and death and reach the shore of great Mahaparinirvana (great complete nirvana). All sentient beings will achieve and fulfill the three kinds of Siddhi (accomplishments). All different wishes and all good wishes will be accomplished at once. Therefore, you should wholeheartedly cultivate this Dharma (teachings) and attain the most supreme and unsurpassed Siddhi (accomplishment). Now, I open the secret and unsurpassed treasure trove and give it to all those who cultivate the Dharma (teachings) of true words. This is the unsurpassed and profound secret Dharma (teachings).


極秘中極秘。今正說之。

佛說此真言已。應時即為遍照如來。頂戴金剛五佛寶冠。重說即身成佛大海印。亦名三昧耶印。若諸佛子欲得即身成佛。當修此觀。能使凡夫父母所生身即成佛身。即向本尊如意寶珠王。結法界塔婆印。謂二手虛心合掌。八指為寶形即成密印。觀阿字門一切智慧廣大清凈門。隨字身量內外廣博。同等虛空無分別心。黃白二色光明徹照地輪妙體。離諸境界。意生作業攝持有情。安住心王同虛空相。成就一切上品悉地縛(無可切)字門入內心為曼陀羅加持自身。大日雪色徹妙水輪。加持自身離諸垢過門。啰(彈舌呼)字門自體清凈。無垢門。迦(爾羅切)字門因業離遍一切法遠離諸垢度生死門。欠字門大空無生加持自體安住法界無有戲論門。無二行相門。于閑靜處縱廣四肘。凈治其地如護摩標式。四門中圓三十二葉七寶蓮華臺上安置如意寶珠王菩薩。放光照耀。六道有情遇斯光者舍是身。后證得不壞金剛三昧。安住覺王普賢聖位。一切如來十六大菩薩摩頂授記。金剛界遍照如來。常伸右手摩頂授記受佛寶冠。壽命一劫不捨于身。得見彌勒如來。壽終之後。即得往生無量壽佛極樂國土。

悉地成就品第七

佛告虛空藏菩薩摩訶薩言。若諸有情。每日晨朝對寶珠王像。念根本咒及

【English Translation】 English version: Extremely Secret within Secrets. Now, I will explain it.

After the Buddha spoke this mantra, he immediately transformed into Vairocana (the all-illuminating Tathagata), wearing the Vajra Five Buddha Jeweled Crown. He then reiterated the Great Ocean Mudra of attaining Buddhahood in this very life, also known as the Samaya-mudra (vow mudra). If all you Buddha's disciples wish to attain Buddhahood in this very life, you should practice this contemplation. It can enable the body born of ordinary parents to instantly become the body of a Buddha. Immediately face the Cintamanicakra (Wish-fulfilling Jewel Wheel) and form the Dharmadhatu Stupa Mudra (Mudra of the Stupa of the Realm of Dharma), which is made by joining both hands with hollow palms, bending the eight fingers into the shape of a jewel, thus forming the secret mudra. Contemplate the 'A' (A) syllable-door, which is the vast and pure gate of all wisdom. Following the size of the 'A' syllable, it is broad and extensive both internally and externally, like the void, without any discriminating mind. Yellow and white light thoroughly illuminates the wondrous essence of the Prithvi-mandala (earth wheel), free from all realms. Thoughts arise from various activities, embracing all sentient beings, abiding in the Citta-raja (King of Mind), like the aspect of the void. Accomplishing all supreme Siddhis (achievements). The 'Va' (Va) syllable-door enters the inner heart, serving as a Mandala (sacred circle) to bless oneself. Mahavairocana (the Great Illuminator), snow-white, thoroughly illuminates the wondrous Apas-mandala (water wheel). Blessing oneself, free from all defilements and faults. The 'Ra' (Ra, trilled) syllable-door, the self-nature is pure, the gate of no defilement. The 'Ka' (Ka) syllable-door, due to karma, one is separated from all dharmas, away from all defilements, crossing the gate of birth and death. The 'Kha' (Kha) syllable-door, the great void is unborn, blessing the self-nature, abiding in the Dharmadhatu, without the gate of playful discussions. The gate of non-dualistic aspects. In a quiet place, four cubits in length and width, purify the ground like a Homa (fire offering) site. In the center of the four gates, on a circular thirty-two-petaled seven-jeweled lotus platform, place the Cintamanicakra Bodhisattva (Wish-fulfilling Jewel Wheel Bodhisattva). Emit light that illuminates, sentient beings in the six realms who encounter this light, after abandoning this body, will attain the indestructible Vajra-samadhi (Diamond Samadhi), abiding in the holy position of Samantabhadra (Universal Worthy), the King of Enlightenment. All Tathagatas and the Sixteen Great Bodhisattvas will touch their heads and bestow predictions. Vajradhatu Vairocana (Diamond Realm Vairocana) constantly extends his right hand to touch their heads and bestow predictions, receiving the Buddha Jeweled Crown. For one kalpa (eon), they will not abandon this body. They will see Maitreya (the future Buddha). After the end of their lifespan, they will be reborn in the Land of Ultimate Bliss of Amitabha (the Buddha of Infinite Light).

Chapter Seven: Accomplishment of Siddhis

The Buddha told Akasagarbha Bodhisattva-Mahasattva (Great Bodhisattva Akasagarbha): If all sentient beings, every morning, face the image of the Jewel Wheel, recite the root mantra and


灌頂印一千八十遍。除滅無始一切根本罪凈除業障海。得成就大悉地法。舍此身已往生西方安樂國土上品蓮臺。證得無生不空王三摩地。遊歷十方金剛界會。禮拜承仕大日如來。若有善男子善女人。欲求現生最上悉地。從后夜時至明晨時。從日沒時至三更時。行斯法要相續不絕。經于千日消滅五逆重罪。一切悉地決定成辦。一切意願速得成就。

佛復告大虛空藏菩薩言。若諸有情行此法者。世出世間一切法門速皆圓滿。亦得世間一切無畏尊貴富饒。為諸國王王子大臣。得令愛敬尊重讚歎無有勝計。持是行者則得成辦一切諸愿。降伏一切諸魔怨敵業障報障一切諸病即時消滅。是故行者常應持念禮拜供養。諸佛真身馱都權現如意寶珠王乃至天上大海龍宮寶藏大摩尼珠王。菩薩摩訶薩心不廢亂。即得成就一切悉地。現生證得吽迦羅心摩訶縛日羅身。

佛復告言若有善男子善女人。欲成無上大菩提果及求無邊福智成就。即向空中第三禪頂大梵天王安置寶塔如來頂骨。結印誦明速得成就。若諸有情慾求福德壽命長遠。即向地底堅牢地神安置如來炭土。寶瓶。行此法者速成悉地。汝等當知是二寶珠是即真性秘密寶珠。勸請供養一切所求無上悉地。必得成就。

護摩品第八

爾時佛告虛空藏菩薩言。若諸有

佛陀又告訴大虛空藏菩薩(Mahakasagarbha Bodhisattva)說:『如果眾生修持此法,世間和出世間的一切法門都能迅速圓滿,也能獲得世間一切無畏、尊貴和富饒,受到諸國王、王子、大臣的愛敬、尊重和讚歎,無人能及。』 持誦此法的人,便能成就一切願望,降伏一切諸魔、怨敵、業障、報障,一切疾病即時消滅。因此,修持者應當經常持念、禮拜、供養諸佛真身、馱都(Dhatu,舍利)權現的如意寶珠王,乃至天上、大海龍宮寶藏中的大摩尼珠王。菩薩摩訶薩(Bodhisattva-Mahasattva,大菩薩)心不散亂,便能成就一切悉地,今生證得吽迦羅(Humkara)心摩訶縛日羅(Mahavajra)身。

佛陀又說:『如果有善男子、善女人,想要成就無上大菩提果(Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi,無上正等正覺),以及求得無邊福德智慧的成就,就可以向空中第三禪頂的大梵天王(Mahabrahma)處,安置寶塔如來頂骨,結印誦明,便能迅速成就。如果眾生想要尋求福德壽命長遠,就可以向地底堅牢地神(Prithvi)處,安置如來炭土、寶瓶。修持此法的人,便能迅速成就悉地。你們應當知道,這二寶珠就是真性秘密寶珠,勸請供養,一切所求無上悉地,必定能夠成就。』

護摩品第八

這時,佛陀告訴虛空藏菩薩說:『如果諸有'

【English Translation】 English version: Reciting the Abhisheka Mudra (灌頂印) one thousand and eighty times eliminates all fundamental sins from beginningless time, completely purifies the sea of karmic obstacles, and attains the great Siddhi (悉地, accomplishment) Dharma. After abandoning this body, one will be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, ascending to an upper-grade lotus platform, realizing the Unborn Unobstructed King Samadhi (三摩地, meditative absorption), traveling through the ten directions of the Vajra Realm, and paying homage to Mahavairocana Tathagata (大日如來, the Great Sun Buddha). If there are good men and good women who desire to attain the supreme Siddhi in this lifetime, they should practice this essential Dharma continuously from the latter part of the night until dawn, or from sunset until the third watch of the night. After one thousand days, they will eradicate the grave sins of the five rebellious acts, and all Siddhis will definitely be accomplished, and all wishes will be quickly fulfilled.

The Buddha further told Mahakasagarbha Bodhisattva (大虛空藏菩薩): 'If sentient beings practice this Dharma, all Dharmas of the mundane and supramundane realms will be quickly perfected, and they will also obtain all fearlessness, honor, and wealth in the world, and be loved, respected, praised, and esteemed by kings, princes, and ministers beyond measure.' Those who uphold this practice will be able to accomplish all wishes, subdue all demons, enemies, karmic obstacles, retribution obstacles, and all illnesses will be immediately eliminated. Therefore, practitioners should constantly uphold, recite, pay homage to, and make offerings to the true body of the Buddhas, the Dhatu (馱都, relics) manifestations of the Wish-Fulfilling Jewel King, and even the Great Mani Jewel King in the heavenly realms, the dragon palaces of the great ocean, and the treasure troves. If Bodhisattvas-Mahasattvas (菩薩摩訶薩, great Bodhisattvas) do not have a distracted mind, they will attain all Siddhis and realize the Humkara (吽迦羅) mind and the Mahavajra (摩訶縛日羅) body in this lifetime.

The Buddha further said: 'If there are good men and good women who desire to attain the unsurpassed Great Bodhi fruit (大菩提果, enlightenment) and seek the accomplishment of boundless blessings and wisdom, they should place the Tathagata's (如來, Thus Come One) skull relic in a jeweled stupa at the summit of the Third Dhyana Heaven of the Great Brahma King (大梵天王) in the sky, form the mudra, and recite the mantra, and they will quickly attain accomplishment. If sentient beings desire to seek blessings and longevity, they should place the Tathagata's charcoal ash and a treasure vase at the bottom of the earth with the steadfast Earth Goddess (堅牢地神). Those who practice this Dharma will quickly attain Siddhi. You should know that these two jewel beads are the secret jewel beads of true nature. By encouraging offerings, all requests for unsurpassed Siddhi will surely be accomplished.'

Chapter Eight: Homa

At that time, the Buddha told Akasagarbha Bodhisattva: 'If all'


情慾得剎帝利位。持白麻仁粳米小豆酥密乳酪行護摩者。其國王甚大歡喜讓與帝位。后妃王子亦復如是。若見曼拏羅如意珠王。速蠲凈除阿鼻業報四重五逆誹謗正法一切惡業。一切劇苦悉皆除滅。更不重五逆惡趣身。常居勝位八萬四千執金剛夜叉十地金剛陀羅尼菩薩六十八千持明神仙晝夜守護。常為伴侶。若命終之後。必生勝妙金剛手大悉地宮。即為真言大持明仙。十六菩薩以為兄弟。

爾時如來說護摩印曰。即以左手頭指大母指相縛。直伸中指無名指。向掌作拳。以印當胸。右手頭指中指大母指拍珠。以一切如來金剛摩尼身大灌頂印言。即聲誦咒作護摩法。一切事業皆令成就。則是三部諸尊極秘無上密印及秘密明。我今即為一切有情廣宣說之。汝虛空藏受持是法流通世間。普令利益末世有情。

爾時虛空藏菩薩摩訶薩受誠實語。愿垂加持。佛言善哉善哉。如汝所愿守護正法。莫令失墜。

爾時虛空藏菩薩金剛手菩薩觀自在菩薩等。而說偈言。

【English Translation】 English version If one desires to attain the position of a Kshatriya (Kshatriya, the second of the four varnas of Hinduism, traditionally warriors and rulers) through sensual desires, or if one wishes to fulfill their aspirations by performing Homa (Homa, a ritual offering) with white sesame seeds, japonica rice, small beans, ghee, honey, and curd, then, if the king is greatly pleased, he will relinquish the throne to them, and the consorts and princes will do likewise. If one beholds the Mandala (Mandala, a spiritual and ritual symbol) Wish-Fulfilling Jewel King, they will swiftly eradicate the karmic retribution of Avici Hell, the four grave offenses, the five rebellious acts, and all evil deeds of slandering the True Dharma. All intense sufferings will be eliminated, and they will no longer endure the body of the evil realms resulting from the five rebellious acts, but will constantly reside in a supreme position. Eighty-four thousand Vajrapani Yakshas (Vajrapani Yaksha, Yakshas holding the Vajra), ten-bhumi Vajradharani Bodhisattvas (Vajradharani Bodhisattva, Bodhisattvas holding the Vajra), and sixty-eight thousand Vidyadhara Immortals will guard them day and night, constantly accompanying them. If they pass away, they will surely be reborn in the supremely wonderful Vajrapani Mahasiddha Palace (Vajrapani Mahasiddha Palace, the palace of great accomplishment of Vajrapani), becoming a Mantra Mahavidyadhara Immortal, with sixteen Bodhisattvas as their brothers.

At that time, the Tathagata spoke the Homa Mudra: Bind the index finger and thumb of the left hand together, straighten the middle finger and ring finger, and make a fist towards the palm. Place this mudra in front of the chest. With the right hand, use the index finger, middle finger, and thumb to turn the prayer beads. Recite the All Tathagata Vajra Mani Body Great Empowerment Mudra Mantra, and perform the Homa ritual, and all endeavors will be accomplished. This is the most secret and supreme Mudra and Secret Mantra of the Three Families of Deities. I will now widely proclaim it for all sentient beings. You, Akasagarbha (Akasagarbha, the Bodhisattva representing boundless space), receive and uphold this Dharma, circulate it in the world, and universally benefit sentient beings in the degenerate age.

At that time, Akasagarbha Mahasattva (Akasagarbha Mahasattva, the great Bodhisattva) accepted the words of truth, wishing for the Buddha's compassionate blessing. The Buddha said, 'Excellent, excellent! As you wish, protect the True Dharma, and do not let it be lost.'

At that time, Akasagarbha Bodhisattva, Vajrapani Bodhisattva (Vajrapani, the Bodhisattva holding the Vajra), Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva (Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of compassion), and others, spoke the following verses:

'Excellent, excellent, Great Tamer, raining treasures to benefit all sentient beings; Excellent, excellent, Great Hero, expounding secrets to benefit living beings; Excellent, excellent, Great Sun Wheel, illuminating darkness and obtaining light; Excellent, excellent, Great Lion, devouring all evil demons; May the Great Sun Illuminating One reveal and lead us to enter the Prajna Dharma; We take refuge in the All-Knowing One, attaining Buddhahood to benefit all beings.'

At that time, Mahābrahmā-rāja (Great Brahma King, lord of the Form Realm), Indra-rāja (King of the Devas, lord of the Trayastrimsa Heaven), the Caturmahārājakāyikas (Four Great Kings, guardians of the four directions), Maheśvara-rāja (Great Lord, the god Shiva), Sāgara-nāgarāja (Sagara Dragon King, the dragon king of the ocean), Anavatapta-nāgarāja (Anavatapta Dragon King, the dragon king residing in Lake Anavatapta), Mahā-sarasvatī (Great Saraswati, goddess of wisdom), Mahā-śrī (Great Shri, goddess of wealth and prosperity), and Vasudhārā (Goddess of treasures), etc., arose from their seats, prostrated at the Buddha's feet, and said to the Buddha: 'We and our retinue will protect practitioners as we protect our own eyes, as we protect our own lives. We will safeguard the secret mantra teachings, ensuring they circulate in the world without interruption. We beseech the World-Honored One to bless and nurture us and our retinue. To repay the profound kindness of the Tathagata, we make a sincere vow, and we ask for your compassionate blessing!' The Buddha said: 'Excellent! Excellent! As you wish, protect the Dharma, and do not let it decline.'

At that time, Śākyamuni Buddha (the enlightened one of the Shakya clan), the Illuminator of All, having spoken the Cintāmaṇi-cakra-siddhi (Wish-fulfilling Jewel Wheel Accomplishment) Dharma, with his feet adorned with the thousand-spoked wheel (Sahasrāra-cakra), walked majestically upon the clouds, returning to the hermitage of Mañjuśrī (Manjushri, the Bodhisattva of Wisdom) in the Great Snow Mountains (the Himalayas).

At that time, the palace of Anavatapta-nāgarāja (Anavatapta Dragon King) shook in six ways, and all the assembly rejoiced greatly, believing and practicing accordingly.

The Cintāmaṇi-cakra-vartin-guhya-kāya-sākṣāt-buddha-kanaka-cakra-mantra-rāja-sūtra (The Sutra of the Wish-Fulfilling Jewel Wheel, the Secret Body, the Manifest Buddha, the Golden Wheel Mantra King).

(This sutra is traditionally said to have been transmitted by Kōso Daishi Kukai (posthumously named Kobo Daishi), the Great Teacher, also known as Benjiao Jingang, to Shinya Sojo, the Chief Priest. From him to the former teacher, Hannya-ji Sojo, the Chief Priest of Hannya Temple, it has been passed down through twelve generations from Mahāvairocana (the Great Sun Buddha). This lineage has been passed down directly to only one person at a time. Therefore, it is to be transmitted with care, as one would protect one's own eyes. Now, it is bestowed upon the Great Dharma Master Gengo, who will be the next Acharya. This transmission was made on the 23rd day of the 8th month of the 6th year of the Tenryaku era (August 23, 952), to the Acharya, the Inner Palace Attendant, the Ten Zen Master Junyu).
