【English Translation】 English version The Essential Recitation Ritual of the White Umbrella Great Buddha-Crown King, the Most Victorious, Incomparable, Great Awesome Virtue Vajra Unobstructed Great Mandala Dharani

I take refuge in all the Tathagatas throughout the Dharma Realm and countless lands. I take refuge in the uniquely manifested venerable ones, the most supreme Buddha-Crown lineage. I pay homage to the Great Compassionate Ones, and the Bodhisattva assembly holding lotuses. May they purify our karmic obscurations and widely benefit all sentient beings. I take refuge in the Lord of Secrets, Vajrapani (the Diamond Handed One), the King of Treasures. You received firm entrustment from the Buddha to protect and uphold all beings. The wise and great celestial assembly, the Sravakas (listeners) and Pratyekabuddhas (solitary realizers). The Nagas (dragons), and Yakshas (nature spirits), respectfully honor you day and night. This Great White Umbrella (Sitatapatra) covers the great thousand worlds. Its miraculous transformations are inconceivable, unobstructed in the empty sky. All Buddhas praise you, with the name Great Buddha-Crown King. Therefore, attaining Bodhi, able to turn the unsurpassed Dharma wheel. The assembly of sages travel and learn together, I also follow and cultivate accordingly. Briefly extracting the essential ritual, may you all bestow your compassionate protection. Initially entering the Mandala with the syllable 'Hum', gazing upon all Buddhas. First purify the three karmas of body, speech, and mind, awakening to the unblemished original nature. The body and vessel are entirely pure, the essence is the same as all Tathagatas. Pervading the empty sky, directing the mind to universally pay homage. Repenting of boundless sins, together returning to the emptiness of Dharma-nature. Entreating all Tathagatas to abide in the world and not enter Nirvana. Rejoicing in the blessings of humans and devas, widely benefiting sentient beings. Dedication with one mind, together ascending to Sarvajna (all-knowing wisdom).

Vowing that in this life and the future, I may always widely practice the Bodhisattva path.

The mantra for purifying the vessel and realm says:

Namo Sarva Buddha Bodhi Sattva Om Shuddhe Nushuddha Naya Svaha

This great purifying light is commonly used in the Tathagata family. First use this for cleansing, then proceed to recite.


室。由誦七遍已。身口意三業。乃至遍法界。一切悉清凈。

由三誦真言。運心同法界。遍滿微塵剎。禮事悉圓滿。

次對本尊結跏趺坐。涂香涂手結諸佛菩薩金剛部三昧耶印。以手內叉拳禪智並申豎。隨句誦真言。以印安於頂。此一切如來心大印。

次屈智入掌中。是持蓮密印。隨句誦真言。移安頂右。次屈禪入掌。卻申豎智度。一切金剛族。所持之密印。隨誦真言句。移印安頂左。一切同一明。三部悉具足。

【English Translation】 English version: In the room. After reciting it seven times, the three karmas of body, speech, and mind, even extending throughout the entire Dharma realm, are all purified. Next, one should universally prostrate to all Tathagatas (Tathagata, 'Thus Gone One', an epithet of the Buddha). The mantra is: Om Sarva Tathagata Pada Vandanam Karomi By reciting the mantra three times, with the mind being the same as the Dharma realm, pervading all lands of dust motes, the act of prostration is completely fulfilled. Next, the mantra for repenting of beginningless sins and obstacles is: Om Sarva Papa Dahana Vajraya Svaha By reciting the mantra three times, all faults are repented. The sins of Avici Hell (Avici, the lowest of the hell realms), like grass, are burned away completely, leaving nothing behind. At that time, Shakyamuni Buddha (Shakyamuni, the historical Buddha) told all the Bodhisattvas (Bodhisattva, an enlightened being) and virtuous men: 'You should receive the Samadhi (Samadhi, a state of mental concentration) of the birth of all Tathagatas, the incomparable power, surpassing the abode of all Tathagatas, the mantra body, the true great mudra (Mudra, a symbolic gesture) mantra of all Tathagata families, the incomparable majestic light and spiritual power, producing boundless and extraordinary great spiritual power, capable of generating all Bodhisattvas, capable of destroying all Koti-mara (Koti-mara, countless demons), subduing all difficult-to-tame people, arousing compassion, and completely accomplishing all beneficial activities.' Now I will speak of the great mudra. Next, facing the principal deity, sit in the lotus position. Apply scented paste to the hands and form the Samaya-mudra (Samaya-mudra, a vow gesture) of the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and the Vajra (Vajra, a diamond or thunderbolt, symbolizing indestructibility) family. With the hands in an inward-facing fist, extend and raise the wisdom and meditation fingers side by side. Recite the mantra phrase by phrase, placing the mudra on the crown of the head. This is the great mudra of the heart of all Tathagatas. Next, bend the wisdom finger into the palm. This is the secret mudra of holding the lotus. Recite the mantra phrase by phrase, moving it to the right side of the crown of the head and placing it there. Next, bend the meditation finger into the palm, but extend and raise the wisdom and degree fingers. This is the secret mudra held by all the Vajra family. 真實法加持故。悉能解脫地獄傍生焰摩惡趣。能令一切有情作如來事。攝召一切菩薩聖眾。能召諸天梵王帝釋夜摩水天俱尾羅等。十地菩薩大自在者。尚能請召何況余。

次結金剛甲冑護身印。

二羽結鉤拳。左橫仰臍下。右鉤摜五處。心額肩喉頂。隨誦真言曰。

曩莫三(去)滿多沒馱南唵部(入引)入縛(二合)攞帝惹吽

以此甲冑明。修行者應用。悉印于遍身。即成大加護。一切佛頂中。是印大威德。諸魔不陵逼。被甲猶如王。能成一切事。速疾得悉地。

次應大輪印。金剛輪。

次結無能勝大印。明王辟除魔障印。應跪右膝豎左膝。左手向後作搭勢。右拳豎進當於心。陵身向前期克狀。

真言曰。

曩莫三(去)滿多沒馱南唵戶嚕戶嚕戰拏里摩鐙祇(研以切)娑縛賀

無能勝大明。是佛之所說。能摧一切魔。能辟除諸障者。大力欲自在。世間魔軍王。波旬亦自在。世天大威德。無量俱低魔。若欲作障難。現作種種狀。魔軍恐怖形。由結印誦明。故自然悉退散。當用作加持。成就佛頂者。于大障礙處。常得大加護。

次結迎請印。

二羽內叉拳。忍愿豎申合。上節屈如鉤。來去成迎請。

憑藉這甲冑明咒,修行者應當運用,完全印在全身,就成為巨大的加護。在一切佛頂中,此印具有大威德,各種魔障不能侵擾逼迫。披上這甲冑就像國王一樣,能夠成就一切事情,迅速獲得悉地(成就)。

接下來應結大輪印,即金剛輪印。

接下來結無能勝大印,也就是明王辟除魔障印。應該右膝跪地,豎起左膝,左手向後作搭勢,右拳豎起向前,放在心前,身體稍微向前傾斜,呈克制狀。

這無能勝大明咒,是佛所說的,能夠摧毀一切魔障,能夠辟除各種障礙。大力欲自在,世間的魔軍之王,波旬(欲界第六天魔王)也自在,世間諸天具有大威德,無量俱低(數量單位)的魔眾,如果想要製造障礙,顯現種種形狀,魔軍恐怖的形象,由於結印誦唸明咒的緣故,自然全部退散。應當用此咒作加持,成就佛頂法者,在有巨大障礙的地方,常常得到巨大的加護。

【English Translation】 English version Through the power of the true Dharma's (law, teachings) blessing, one can completely liberate beings from the suffering of hell, animals (tiryak), Yama (the lord of death), and other evil realms. It can enable all sentient beings to perform the deeds of the Tathagata (Buddha), gather and summon all Bodhisattvas (enlightenment beings) and holy assemblies. It can summon the Devas (gods), Brahma Kings, Indra (Shakra), Yama, Varuna (god of water), Kubera (god of wealth), and others. Even the great masters of the Tenth Bhumi (stage of Bodhisattva development) can be summoned, let alone others (deities or holy beings).

Next, form the Vajra Armor (adamantine armor) Protection Mudra (hand gesture).

Form hook fists with both hands. Place the left hand horizontally, palm up, below the navel. Use the right hook to touch five places: the heart, forehead, shoulders, throat, and crown of the head. Recite the mantra:

Namo Samanta Buddhanam Om Bhur Vala Tejo Hum

With this Armor Mantra, practitioners should apply it, imprinting it completely on the entire body, thus forming great protection. Among all Buddha- Ushnishas (Buddha's crown), this Mudra possesses great power and virtue. Various demons cannot invade or oppress. Being armored is like being a king, able to accomplish all things and quickly attain Siddhi (accomplishment).

Next, one should form the Great Wheel Mudra, which is the Vajra Wheel.

Next, form the Unsurpassed Great Mudra, which is the Vidyaraja (wisdom king) to dispel demonic obstacles. One should kneel on the right knee and raise the left knee. The left hand should be behind, making a supporting gesture. The right fist should be raised forward, placed in front of the heart. Lean the body forward slightly, in a restraining posture.

The mantra is:

Namo Samanta Buddhanam Om Huru Huru Chandali Matangi Svaha

This Unsurpassed Great Mantra is spoken by the Buddha. It can destroy all demons and dispel all obstacles. The powerful, desire-free one, the king of the worldly demon army, Mara (the demon king of the sixth heaven of the desire realm) is also free, the worldly Devas possess great power, countless Koti (unit of measurement) of demons, if they wish to create obstacles, manifesting various forms, terrifying shapes of the demon army, due to forming the Mudra and reciting the mantra, they will naturally all retreat. One should use this mantra for blessing. Those who accomplish the Buddha- Ushnisha practice, in places with great obstacles, will always receive great protection.

Next, form the Welcoming Mudra.

Form interlocked fists with both hands, with the index and middle fingers (representing forbearance and aspiration) raised and joined together, the upper joints bent like hooks, moving back and forth to indicate welcoming.

【English Translation】 English version: Place incense and flowers on the seal, throw them into the altar, and then recite the mantra: Namo bhagavate uṣṇīṣa ehy ehi bhagavan dharmarāja pratijñā smara gaṇapuṣpa dhūpa mālya caṇḍa pekṣa rakṣa pratihata mara parakramāya svāhā. Form the mudra and recite this mantra three times, alerting all Buddhas and inviting all Tathagatas to descend completely. Next, form the Light Cluster Mudra. The Dana (Generosity) and Prajna (Wisdom) fingers are placed side by side and held upright. The Śīla (Discipline) and Upaya (Skillful Means) fingers are bent to touch the fingertips (upper joint). 【English Translation】 English version Focus on the top of the Great Buddha, which can eliminate all kinds of disasters. Within twelve Yojanas (Yojana, an ancient Indian unit of length), form a large boundary. Next, form the Accomplishing Mudra: with both hands making inner fist, extend and bend the Ring (Anamika) and Little (Kanishthika) fingers together, which can accomplish everything. Rotate three times to the left to complete. The Averting Mantra is as follows: 『Namo Samanta Buddhanam Troru Hum Mandha Mandha Hum Phat Svaha』 This Accomplishing Mantra is the essence of all Buddha-Tathagata's crown. Because of remembering it, all obstacles on land and water, all those who want to harm you, will be forbidden to speak. When forming the mudra, at the heart, bless the five places. Next, form the Lotus Mudra, like an unfolded eight-petaled lotus. This is the seat of all Buddhas and Tathagatas, sincerely offered. Recite the mantra seven times: 『Namo Sarva Buddha Bodhisattvanam Om Hum Kamalaye Svaha』 Due to this offering, the Buddhas accept this seat, and in the future, you will surely obtain the supreme and wonderful Vajra seat. Next, form the Argha (offering) Mudra, which is a vast and true offering, filled with fragrance and white flowers, sincerely offered. Use the Vajra fist, raise the Ring (Anamika) and Little (Kanishthika) fingers and merge their tips, bend the Middle (Madhyama) and Index (Tarjani) fingers behind, and touch the tips of the Thumb (Angushtha) to the base of the Middle (Madhyama) fingers. The mantra is as follows: 『Namo Bhagavat Usnisa Ya Eyam Gandham Puspa Dhupe Malam Niyantca Pratitca Hara Hara Sarva Buddha Adhisthite Dharma Raja Pratighataya Svaha』 By reciting this mantra and offering it to the Tathagata, throughout the worlds as numerous as dust particles, various wonderful offerings are accomplished. Next, form the Buddha Eye Mudra, which is in all Buddha-Tathagata's crown. This great mudra should be applied and held purely. This is the most supreme, which can eliminate all kinds of sins, among all Buddha-Tathagata's crown.


常結於此契。決定得悉地。不久必成就。一切佛頂法。設積百劫福。若得此印明。其福與彼等。此佛眼真言。能成一切業。從十俱胝佛。如來所受持。由才憶念明。一切聖天現。一切真言教。法皆得成就。暴惡瞋怒前。應誦得歡喜。難調惡鬼神。降伏皆隨順。鬥戰諍訟處。一切得寢凈。先後誦七遍。速疾成證驗。

次結金輪佛頂一字王印。

二羽內叉拳。忍愿並申合。屈上第三節。開屈進力頭。平等禪智申。七遍真言曰。

恒河沙數量。如來之所說。現在佛今說。未來佛當說。此印名大印。說為頂輪王。此印即是佛。利益諸有情。由明大威德。制伏諸賢聖。於五由旬內。令他尊不降。十地諸菩薩。迷悶失本心。何況余少類。而能現神力。智者成就人。若此結印處。諸惡魔障地。是處不敢住。于百俱胝劫。設於千恒沙。如是沙數量。亦不能說盡。功德及福利。稱揚威德力。智者若受持。常不被沮壞。如來大師說。而不能讚歎。于修佛頂者。速疾得成就。

次結普通一切佛頂成就印。

【English Translation】 English version Constantly uniting with this mudra, one will certainly attain siddhi (accomplishment). Before long, one will surely accomplish all Buddha-top mantras. Even if one accumulates merit for hundreds of kalpas (aeon), if one obtains this mantra-mudra, the merit will be equal to that. This Buddha-eye mantra can accomplish all deeds. It is received and held by ten koti (ten million) Buddhas Tathagatas. By merely remembering this mantra, all holy devas appear. All mantra teachings and dharmas will be accomplished. In the presence of violent and wrathful beings, one should recite this to bring them joy. Difficult-to-tame evil spirits will be subdued and obedient. In places of battles and disputes, everything will be pacified and purified. Recite seven times in succession, and swift verification will be achieved. Next, form the One-Syllable King Mudra of the Golden Wheel Buddha-Top. Form inner fist with both hands. Extend and join the ring and little fingers. Bend the upper third section. Open and bend the tips of the middle and index fingers. Extend the thumbs equally. Recite the mantra seven times: na maḥ sa ma nta bu ddhā nāṃ oṃ bhrūṃ As spoken by the Tathagatas as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River, the present Buddhas speak now, and the future Buddhas will speak. This mudra is called the Great Mudra, and is said to be the King of the Top Wheel. This mudra is the Buddha, benefiting all sentient beings. Due to the great power of this mantra, it can subdue all sages. Within five yojana (ancient Indian unit of distance), it prevents other deities from descending. Even the Bodhisattvas of the ten bhumis (ten stages of Bodhisattva practice) will be confused and lose their original minds. How much more so can other lesser beings manifest supernatural powers? If a wise and accomplished person forms this mudra, in places of evil demons and obstacles, those places will not dare to dwell. Even after hundreds of koti kalpas, or even thousands of Ganges River sand kalpas, one cannot fully describe the merits and benefits of this mudra. Praising the power of this mudra, if a wise person upholds it, they will not be destroyed. As spoken by the great master Tathagata, it cannot be fully praised. For those who practice the Buddha-top, they will quickly attain accomplishment. Next, form the Common All Buddha-Top Accomplishment Mudra. Form inner fist with both hands. Extend the ring and little fingers.

由此印。如觀睹請佛。難調諸藥叉。龍及蘇羅眾。一切惡羅剎。並及諸魔羅。由此明威德。驚怖悉消融。若得此印契。能獲諸安樂。國王世間等。于彼常利益。欲求法利者。決定而獲得。普通真言王。成就果報故。

次結一切佛通覆大千身不見其邊際白傘蓋佛頂王大印或結百億諸佛同心印。誦大真言七遍。

次結白傘蓋。根本之大印。二手虛心合。戒方屈入掌。以其禪智面。並押戒方甲。進力屈令圓。是佛傘蓋印。真言誦七遍。則于頂上散。真言曰。

此大佛頂王。殊勝無與等。是佛大悲力。師子吼流出。一切佛加持。大悲照憂暗。甚深知無垢。令作諸吉祥。菩薩及諸天。而不能沮壞。獲得不退轉。一切悉安樂。眾毒不能傷。天龍不敢近。書寫及誦持。速疾證悉地。

次持念珠。加持七遍。捧之頂戴。然爲念誦。百八或千八。收珠置本處。復結本

【English Translation】 English version: Then raise the fingers, with the bent knuckles touching each other. This is a common and universal mudra (印, hand gesture). Recite the mantra seven times, form the mudra on the crown of the head, and then disperse it.

Mantra: Namo Samantabuddhanam Om Naru Om (Samputa) Mandha Svaha.

By this mudra, it is as if one sees all the Buddhas in person. The difficult-to-tame Yakshas (夜叉, a type of guardian deity), dragons, and Suras (修羅, a type of demigod). All evil Rakshasas (羅剎, a type of demon), and all Maras (魔羅, demons). By the majestic power of this mantra, fear and terror are completely dissolved. If one obtains this mudra, one can obtain all kinds of peace and happiness. Kings and people of the world will constantly benefit from it. Those who seek the benefits of the Dharma will surely obtain them. This is the ordinary king of mantras, because of the accomplishment of the fruit of karma.

Next, form the Great Mudra of the White Umbrella Buddha-Crown King, which covers the entire universe and has no boundaries, or form the Heart-Mind Mudra of a Hundred Billion Buddhas. Recite the great mantra seven times.

Next, form the fundamental Great Mudra of the White Umbrella. Place both hands together with hollow palms, bend the ring fingers into the palms, use the surfaces of the meditation and wisdom fingers, and press down on the nails of the ring fingers. Bend the index and little fingers into a circle. This is the mudra of the Buddha's umbrella. Recite the mantra seven times, and then disperse it on the crown of the head. The mantra is as follows:

Namo Samanta Buddhanam Apratihata Sasananam Om Tathagatosnisa Anavarokita Murdha Chakra Varti Om Mama Hum Tram.

This Great Buddha-Crown King is supremely unparalleled. This is the great compassionate power of the Buddha, flowing out like a lion's roar. The blessings of all Buddhas, great compassion illuminates the darkness. Profoundly knowing and without defilement, enabling one to accomplish all kinds of auspiciousness. Bodhisattvas and devas (天, gods) cannot obstruct or destroy it. Obtaining non-retrogression, everything is peaceful and happy. Various poisons cannot harm, and dragons and gods do not dare to approach. Writing and reciting it, one quickly attains Siddhi (悉地, accomplishment).

Next, hold the prayer beads, bless them seven times, and raise them to the crown of the head. Then begin reciting, one hundred and eight times or one thousand and eight times. Put away the prayer beads and return them to their original place, and then form the original mudra.


尊印。住於三摩地。讚歎佛功德。供養如前獻。

復結三昧耶護身禮佛而退。捻珠印。以左右二手。以禪智。各捻戒方甲。伸忍愿申進力。屈于忍愿后。捻珠而唸誦。若欲住佛儀。而作勇健坐。端身結跏趺。結佛訖底印。左仰掌跏上。右外豎掌。以禪而押戒甲。以進屈忍背後。真言誦七遍。然入三摩地。真言曰。

若結此印者。不奪其威力。今世及他世。獲得如來力。若誦此真言。諸佛皆加護。修持佛頂王。三時常憶念。速疾得成就。三界中無礙。是大佛頂王。密印法無量。今為修行者。略集少秘要。若樂大法者。從師求灌頂。得授三昧耶。應當廣咨學。大白傘蓋大佛頂唸誦法。

此法秘密。未入灌頂人不得輒聞。其修行者取成就。若擬自求悉地兼為本尊者。輒亦不得傳授與人密印。大三昧耶嚴密。真言曰。

唵商(上)羯哩摩賀(引)三昧鹽滿馱滿馱娑縛(二合)賀

加持念珠真言曰。

曩莫婆(去)誐縛帝素弟娑馱野悉馱羅挮(去二合)娑縛(二合)賀

此法秘密,未入灌頂的人不得隨便聽聞。其修行者取成就。如果想要自己求悉地(Siddhi,成就),兼為本尊者,也不得傳授與人密印。大三昧耶(Samaya,誓言)嚴密。真言如下:

【English Translation】 English version The Venerable Seal: Abiding in Samadhi (meditative absorption), praising the Buddha's merits, and offering as before.

Again, form the Samaya (vow) body protection seal, prostrate to the Buddha, and retreat. Rosary Seal: With the left and right hands, use the wisdom finger (little finger) of each hand to press the nail of the precept finger (ring finger), extend the forbearance finger (middle finger) and the effort finger (index finger), bend them behind the forbearance finger (middle finger), and recite while turning the rosary. If you wish to maintain the Buddha's posture, assume the heroic sitting posture, sit upright in the lotus position, and form the Buddha Kritya Mudra (Buddha activity seal): place the left hand, palm up, on the lotus position, raise the right hand outward, and use the wisdom finger (little finger) to press the nail of the precept finger (ring finger), bend the effort finger (index finger) behind the forbearance finger (middle finger), recite the mantra seven times, and then enter Samadhi (meditative absorption). If one forms this seal, their power will not be taken away, and in this life and other lives, they will obtain the power of the Tathagata. If one recites this mantra, all Buddhas will bestow their protection. Cultivate the Buddha Top King, constantly remember it at the three times of day, and you will quickly attain accomplishment, without obstruction in the three realms. This is the Great Buddha Top King, the secret seal dharma is immeasurable. Now, for practitioners, I have briefly collected a few secrets. If one enjoys the great dharma, seek initiation from a teacher, and receive the Samaya (vow), you should widely consult and learn. The Great White Umbrella Great Buddha Top recitation method.

This dharma is secret, and those who have not entered initiation must not casually hear it. Its practitioners will obtain accomplishment. If you intend to seek Siddhi (accomplishment) for yourself and also act as the principal deity, you must not transmit the secret seal to others. The Great Samaya (vow) is strict. The mantra is as follows:

Om Sham Kari Maha Samaya Bandha Bandha Svaha

Mantra for blessing the rosary:

Namo Bhagavate Suddhe Sadhaya Siddha Rathe Svaha

Mantra for purifying the rosary: Hold the rosary with palms together.
