佛告阿難陀。若諸世間所有災禍逼惱。刀兵饑饉亢旱疾疫。四百四病憂惱斗諍。及八萬四千鬼魅嬈惱有情。所求世間出世間勝愿多有障礙者。皆由無始已來貪愛無明。虛妄分別三毒煩惱。不了實相積集不善。感招如是種種災難。

阿難陀是故我今為彼讀誦佛母大孔雀明王經者。及一切災厄眾生。復說畫像法及建立道場供養儀軌。若依此法轉讀是經。一切災難皆得消除。所有愿求隨意滿足。阿難陀若有苦惱災難起時。或彼國王及諸王子大臣妃后。及苾芻苾芻尼善男子善女人等。為除災故。或於王宮或於勝地。或於清凈伽藍或隨本所居宅舍。依法凈地掘深一肘。除去瓦礫地中穢物。填滿凈土筑令平正。其土本凈卻用填之。若土有餘其地殊勝。應泥拭清凈建立道場作五肘方壇。高四指量三重布位。或以彩畫或用五色粉成。于內院中心畫八葉蓮華。于蓮華胎上畫佛母大孔雀明王菩薩。頭向東方白色。

【English Translation】 English version The Buddha told Ananda (one of the ten principal disciples of the Buddha): 'If all the calamities in the world oppress and trouble sentient beings, such as warfare, famine, drought, epidemics, as well as the four hundred and four diseases, worries and afflictions, conflicts, and the eighty-four thousand kinds of ghosts and demons that seduce and trouble sentient beings, and if there are many obstacles to the supreme wishes sought in both the mundane and supramundane realms, all these are due to beginningless greed, ignorance, false discriminations, the three poisons of afflictions, failure to understand the true nature of reality, and the accumulation of unwholesome karma, which bring about these various calamities.' 'Ananda, therefore, today I am again proclaiming the method of making images and the ritual of establishing a mandala for offerings for those who recite the Mahamayuri-vidyarajni Sutra, the Great Peacock Wisdom Queen Sutra, and for all sentient beings suffering from calamities. If one follows this method to recite this sutra, all calamities can be eliminated, and all wishes can be fulfilled at will. Ananda, if there are sufferings and calamities arising, or if a king, princes, ministers, consorts, bhiksus (monks), bhiksunis (nuns), virtuous men, or virtuous women, in order to eliminate calamities, may purify the ground according to the Dharma in the royal palace, or in a sacred place, or in a pure monastery, or in their own residence, dig one cubit deep, remove tiles, gravel, and impurities from the ground, fill it with clean soil, and compact it to make it level. If the original soil is clean, use it to fill the space. If there is excess soil and the land is particularly auspicious, it should be wiped clean with mud, and a mandala should be established, making a square altar of five cubits on each side, about four fingers high, arranged in three layers. It can be made with colored drawings or with five-colored powders. In the center of the inner courtyard, draw an eight-petaled lotus flower, and on the lotus flower's pistil, draw the Mahamayuri-vidyarajni Bodhisattva (the Great Peacock Wisdom Queen), facing east, with a white color.'

【English Translation】 English version: Adorned with a light white silk garment, a crown on the head, and various ornaments such as necklaces, earrings, and armlets. Riding on a golden peacock king, seated in the lotus position on a white lotus flower, or a blue-green flower. Residing in a compassionate aspect with four arms. The first right hand holds an open lotus flower, the second hand holds a 'Kura' fruit (which resembles a water chestnut). The first left hand is at the heart, holding a 'auspicious' fruit (shaped like a peach or plum). The second hand holds three to five peacock tail feathers. Starting from the right side of the Buddha-Mother (referring to Mahamayuri), clockwise, on the lotus leaves, depict the Seven Buddhas, from Vipassi Buddha to Sakyamuni Buddha and Maitreya Bodhisattva, all facing outwards, each residing in a meditative state. On the eighth leaf at the northwest corner, depict Maitreya Bodhisattva, holding a 'kundika' (water bottle) in the left hand and raising the right palm outwards in the 'abhaya mudra' (gesture of fearlessness). Also, outside the lotus leaves, in the four directions of the inner courtyard, depict four Pratyekabuddhas, all appearing in the form of a Buddha with a 'ushnisha' (cranial protuberance) on the head, also residing in a meditative state. 眾圍繞。及畫宿曜十二宮神。次第三院外周匝。用香泥塗飾。布以荷葉。葉上安置供養食食所謂乳麋酪飯食果子等。皆以阿波羅爾多明王真言。加持香水散灑。佈列四邊供養。及以諸漿沙糖石蜜石榴蜜漿等而奉獻之。壇上散白色花於四角置酥燈四盞。四門各置二凈器滿盛香水。于壇東安佛母大孔雀明王像。其畫像法如前畫壇。唯不安界道即是。中院聖眾燒沉香和香等供養。東方天眾應燒白膠香而為供養。南方天眾以紫礦芥子及鹽相和燒之供養。西方天眾以酥和安悉香燒之供養。北方天眾應燒薰陸香而供養之。持誦者于壇西面。敷茅薦為座。或坐卑腳床子。嚴飾經案置於壇前。以諸香花供養經卷。應如是佈列。轉讀經者可三人五人乃至七人。更替相續晝夜不令經聲間斷。要在絕語言。除數內一人明閑教法。咒師指撝取與祇對。作法結印啟請賢聖。餘人但當至心讀經。唯在遍數多。殷重發愿依三十七尊禮懺。三時或六時。其道場或一日或二日三日乃至七日。一切災禍悉皆殄滅。除不至心。轉經者或在家人或是出家人。每日澡浴清凈著新凈衣。初起首時對道場前。虔誠一心禮諸聖眾。先以印契真言。依教請召一切佛菩薩及諸天眾。如法供養。說所求事慇勤啟告。愿垂加護。普為一切苦難眾生。廣發大愿。然後結跏趺坐以涂香

涂手。先結三昧耶印。二手右押左外相叉作拳。直豎二中指頭相拄即成。結印當心誦三昧耶真言七遍真言曰。

即以此印加持自身四處。所謂心額喉頂頂上散印。

次結金剛鉤菩薩印。

準前三昧耶印。以二頭指屈如鉤向身招。不間斷誦真言七遍。普召諸佛菩薩諸天鬼神一切聖眾真言曰。

唵嚩日𠻴(二合引)矩尸(一)阿(引)羯(重呼)茶微羯茶娑嚩(二合引)訶

由結此印誦真言請。召一切聖眾不違本誓皆來赴集。

次結阿波羅爾多明王印。用結地界結方隅界。二手右押左內相叉。直豎一中指頭相拄。即以印頂上右旋三匝。隨心遠近便成結界誦七遍真言曰。

唵虎嚕虎嚕戰拏里摩蹬岐(去)娑嚩(二合引)訶(引)

次結普供養一切賢聖印。

二手右押左相叉合掌。十指互交上節即成。結印當心誦七遍頂上散印真言曰。

曩莫三滿多勃馱(引)南(一)薩嚩佗(引二)欠(平三)嗢娜蘗(二合)帝(四)娑𩑼(二合)啰呬(馨異反引)𤚥(五)誐誐曩劍(六)娑嚩(二合引)訶

由結此印及誦真言。能於一一佛菩薩諸聖眾前及於無量諸佛剎土。成辦一切廣大供養。

【English Translation】 English version: Anointing with incense. First, form the Samaya mudra (vow seal). With both hands, place the right hand over the left, crossing the fingers to make a fist. Extend the two middle fingers straight, touching their tips together to complete the mudra. Form the mudra at the heart and recite the Samaya mantra seven times. The mantra is: 'Om Samaya Sattvam' Then, use this mudra to bless the four places on your body: the heart, forehead, throat, and crown of the head, scattering the mudra at the crown. Next, form the Vajra hook Bodhisattva mudra. Following the previous Samaya mudra, bend the two index fingers like hooks, drawing them towards yourself. Recite the mantra continuously seven times. Universally summon all Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, devas, spirits, and all holy beings. The mantra is: 'Om Vajra Kushi Ah Jya Dza Vi Jya Svaha' By forming this mudra and reciting the mantra, all holy beings, not violating their original vows, will come and gather. Next, form the Aparajita Vidyaraja mudra (Invincible Knowledge King mudra). Use it to establish the earth boundary and the directional boundaries. With both hands, place the right hand inside the left, crossing the fingers. Extend the two middle fingers straight, touching their tips together. Then, rotate the mudra three times clockwise above the head. The boundary is established according to the distance you desire. Recite the mantra seven times. The mantra is: 'Om Huru Huru Chandali Matangi Svaha' Next, form the mudra for universally offering to all virtuous and holy beings. Form the mudra at the heart and recite seven times, scattering the mudra above the head. The mantra is: 'Namah Samanta Buddhanam Sarvatha Kham Udgate Spharana Imam Gagana Kham Svaha' By forming this mudra and reciting the mantra, one can accomplish all vast offerings before each Buddha, Bodhisattva, and all holy beings, and in the immeasurable Buddha lands. Next, form the mudra of the Buddha-Mother Great Peacock Vidyarajni (Mahamayuri).

次捧香爐奉獻啟請。告白聖眾說所求事。如是依法請召供養已。然後起悲愍心。為拔濟眾生苦難故。轉讀此經。每日中前換諸供物。應結阿波羅爾多明王印誦本真言。以印頂上左旋一匝。暫解其界換供養已。即如前次第再迎請結界如是依教供養轉讀此經。所有災難亢旱疾疫。鬼魅厭禱惡毒災障。種種苦難必得除滅。所有祈願無不遂心。我已廣說畫像壇場供養儀軌竟。若不辦如是涂畫壇場。或有急速災難至。可隨自力分於一凈處。以瞿摩夷塗地作一肘方壇。隨其大小。磨白檀香涂作圓壇。九位中安佛像。及以三五莖孔雀尾豎于壇上。隨時燒香散花乳糜酪等供養聖眾。但虔誠一心轉讀此經。或一遍或三遍乃至七遍。或一日或二日。一切厄難悉得消除。所有祈願皆得圓滿。

爾時阿難陀聞佛世尊。為當來世一切苦難有情。說此讀誦大孔雀明王經法。頂戴受持禮佛而退。

【English Translation】 English version: The King Mudra (Wang Yin) (hand gesture). With both hands, the right hand crosses over the left hand internally. Both thumbs and both little fingers are erected straight, with their tips touching each other, thus forming the mudra. Form the mudra in front of the heart and recite the mantra seven times. As before, use the mudra to bless the four places, and then scatter the mudra on the top of the head. The mantra is: Om Mayura Vikrante Svaha. Then, holding the incense burner, offer and invite, informing the holy assembly of the matters requested. After inviting and making offerings in this way according to the Dharma, then generate a compassionate heart. For the sake of delivering sentient beings from suffering, recite this sutra. Before noon each day, change the various offerings. One should form the Apala'lita Vidyaraja Mudra and recite the mantra of the deity, using the mudra to rotate once to the left on the top of the head, temporarily releasing its boundary. After changing the offerings, then, as before, welcome and invite the holy ones again and establish the boundary. By making offerings and reciting this sutra according to the teachings in this way, all disasters, droughts, epidemics, demonic enchantments, evil curses, and various sufferings will surely be eliminated. All prayers will be fulfilled. I have now fully explained the ritual procedures for the painted mandala. If one is unable to paint the mandala in this way, or if there is an urgent disaster, one can, according to one's ability, in a clean place, use cow dung to smear the ground and make a square altar of one cubit. According to its size, grind white sandalwood and smear it to make a round altar. Place Buddha images in the nine positions, and erect three to five peacock feathers on the altar. At any time, burn incense, scatter flowers, and offer milk porridge, cheese, and other offerings to the holy assembly. As long as one recites this sutra with sincere devotion, either once, three times, or even seven times, or for one day or two days, all calamities will be eliminated, and all prayers will be fulfilled. At that time, Ananda, having heard the Buddha, the World Honored One, speak this method of reciting the Great Peacock Vidyaraja Sutra for the sake of all sentient beings in suffering in the future, received and upheld it with the crown of his head, paid homage to the Buddha, and withdrew.
