三藏沙門善無畏譯詔

□□□□天王白佛言。世尊若有女人。為小兒欲修此童子經法者。先月八日十五日。受持八戒。清凈洗浴。著新凈衣。禮十方諸佛。晨朝時起。以覽字咒水八。硯內寫書雜童子經。向東方作圓壇。盛滿香花燈明閼伽等置壇上。書寫此經而後。于凈室修此法。若於江河邊。若於山邊。若於僧尼住處。修行此童子經秘密法。作四肘圓壇。次作書曼荼羅。內院內書大梵天王。栴檀乾闥婆大鬼神□□□書十五鬼神形像。如所說如是造作已。

爾時大梵天王重白佛言。我為欲利養安樂閻浮提諸小兒故。唯愿世尊聽許說最極密印陀羅尼。即此陀羅尼曰。

多恎他阿伽羅伽寗那伽伽寗波漏隸伽婆隸婆隸不隸羅收禰修羅俾遮羅俾波陀尼波羅呵阿曷利沙尼那易禰那易蘇婆呵

其印相。定以空捻水甲。如取花形。惠拳押腰是也。若以此陀羅尼印加持病惱者。即得除滅。此陀羅尼被縛一切諸天。一切大鬼神王。一切大少神冥道類。但有慈悲者皆不折縛。一切鬼神神王令縛。皆頭破作七分。如阿梨樹枝。

爾時栴檀乾闥婆大鬼王。並十五大鬼神。神祇冥道。皆來集五

【English Translation】 English version: The Sutra of the Child Dhāraṇī Recitation Method

Translated by Tripiṭaka Śramaṇa Śubhakarasiṃha by Imperial Decree

The □□□□ Heavenly King said to the Buddha: 'World-Honored One, if there is a woman who wishes to practice this Child Dhāraṇī method for her young child, she should observe the eight precepts on the eighth and fifteenth days of each month, bathe cleanly, wear new and clean clothes, and pay homage to the Buddhas of the ten directions. Rising in the morning, she should empower water eight times with the 'lāṃ' syllable mantra, and use it to write the Child Dhāraṇī mixed with other texts in an inkstone. Facing east, she should create a circular altar, filling it with incense, flowers, lamps, and arghya (offering water). After writing this sutra, she should practice this method in a clean room, or by a river, or by a mountain, or where monks and nuns reside, practicing this secret Child Dhāraṇī method. Create a circular altar of four cubits, then create a written mandala. Within the inner courtyard, write the names of Mahābrahmā (Great Brahma King), Candana-gandharva (Sandalwood Gandharva), the great demon □□□, and depict the images of fifteen demons. Having created it as described,'

At this time, Mahābrahmā again said to the Buddha: 'For the sake of benefiting and bringing peace and happiness to the children of Jambudvīpa, I beseech the World-Honored One to permit me to speak the most secret mudrā and dhāraṇī.' That is, this dhāraṇī says:

'Tadyathā agara gaga naga gaga ni̇̄ paralī gābhari̇̄ bhari̇̄ bhari̇̄ rasani̇̄ surabhi̇̄ pīśāci̇̄ pādhāni̇̄ parāha āharisani̇̄ nāyini̇̄ nāyi̇̄ svāhā'

The mudrā is as follows: With the dhyāna-mudrā (left hand), pinch the nail of the water finger with the space finger, as if taking the shape of a flower. The wisdom fist (right hand) is pressed against the waist. If one empowers those afflicted by illness with this dhāraṇī mudrā, they will be immediately relieved. This dhāraṇī binds all the devas, all the great demon kings, all the great and small deities of the netherworld. Those who have compassion will not be bound. If any demon or deity king is ordered to be bound, their heads will be broken into seven pieces, like branches of the Arali tree.

At this time, Candana-gandharva, the great demon king, as well as the fifteen great demons, deities, and beings of the netherworld, all gathered.


體投地。白大梵王言。我等皆舍噁心。護此陀羅尼並童子。唯愿大梵王說陀羅尼。令一切鬼神令護童子。又護童子經除惡成吉祥。栴檀乾闥婆王即說陀羅尼曰。

曩莫三曼多沒馱(引)喃(引一)尾戌馱薩縛(二合)啰嚩(引)繫系娑嚩(二合)賀

內縛申水輪勿頭合是也。說印並陀羅尼也。此印陀陀羅尼。滅一切大疫病。除一切四百四病。一切鬼神常恒守護不離此人邊。此咒成一切所求所聖。我又說十五鬼陀羅尼。利益一切眾生故。唯愿大梵王說十五眷屬陀羅尼。即說曰。

大梵天王重白佛言。有眾生於此陀羅尼能受持唸誦。滅萬惡生萬善。一切冥道常守護。一切鬼神一切惡神慈悲加護。

二大指捻二無名指。□□頭指來去是也。誦此陀羅尼結此印。常受持童子經者。即延三萬八千日壽命。此陀羅尼能消滅定業延壽命。滅無量惡生無量善。能成就所愿。

次說勸請十五鬼神咒曰。

南摩三曼多勃馱喃(一)耽令令閻微枳履你弭履訶娑難羅娑難特[怡-臺+暮]娑難[糸*晝]莎呵

印相。二手二少指內相叉。大指相柱。餘四指散開來去。

□□召請十五鬼神咒曰。

唵弭莫伽迦利沙野曳醯枳布瑟置迦鴦俱舍弱吽

印相。右手向外屈五指。三度召之是也。

次施食十五鬼神咒曰(用金剛合掌)。

唵波羅步多(二)弭么隸參皤嚩吽

次說飽滿食十五鬼神咒曰。

南么三曼多勃馱喃唵訶利訶利藥乞叉尾你夜達[口*扇]比旨比旨啰吒檗啰藍檗啰藍訶散難微訶(上)散難弱吽鑁斛

印相。金剛合掌。以二大指捻二頭指甲上是也(注云與愿印也)。

次說散粇米花曰(用金剛掌)。

唵摩訶摩你布啰耶達羅達羅吽吽唵缽啰嚩羅謁啰嚩底娑啰娑啰吽吽

常白月一日八日十五日。撰鬼宿。設種種飲食果子乳粥美味六種供養施神王。如是神等令一切眾生常惱害眾生坐生氣殺萬性人民。一切眾生一切病皆此神王所為也。是故十

【English Translation】 English version The two thumbs press against the two ring fingers. The middle and index fingers move back and forth. Reciting this Dharani and forming this mudra, those who constantly uphold the 'Kumara Sutra' will extend their lifespan by 38,000 days. This Dharani can eliminate fixed karma, prolong life, eradicate immeasurable evils, generate immeasurable good, and fulfill all wishes.

Next, the mantra for inviting the fifteen ghost-spirits is spoken:

Namo Samantabuddhanam (Homage to the Universal Buddhas) Tam ling ling yam vi-kri-ni mi-ri-ha-sa nan-ra-sa nan tra-uta-sa nan [糸*晝] svaha

Mudra: The two little fingers of both hands are crossed inwards, the two thumbs are pressed together, and the remaining four fingers are spread open and moved back and forth.

Next, the mantra for summoning the fifteen ghost-spirits is spoken:

Om mimoga kalisaya yehi ki-pus-ti ka-amkusa jah hum

Mudra: The right hand bends the five fingers outwards, summoning them three times.

Next, the mantra for offering food to the fifteen ghost-spirits is spoken (using Vajra joined palms):

Om parabuta (superior) mima-li sambhava hum

Next, the mantra for satiating the fifteen ghost-spirits with food is spoken:

Usually on the 1st, 8th, and 15th days of the white month, choosing the Ghost Constellation day, set up various foods, fruits, milk porridge, and six kinds of delicious offerings to offer to the spirit king. These spirits constantly trouble sentient beings, causing them to be restless, angry, and killing countless people. All the diseases of all sentient beings are caused by this spirit king. 童子經唸誦法

All the Heavenly Kings will protect them, and all the Divine Kings will constantly add their blessings. Using the name of Chandana Gandharva (Fragrant Spirit), among all the great ghosts and spirits in Jambudvipa (the human world), he is the most honored, the most supreme, and unparalleled. Write down the name of this Ghost King, along with the Dharani in the scripture, using five-colored threads, chanting the mantra one hundred and eight times, or chanting the mantra twenty-one times, or chanting the mantra seven times, and tie it around the neck. There is also a method to write the name of the great ghost Chandana Gandharva on the forehead of a child. There is also a method, if there is an epidemic disease in the world, use the 'Subduing Ghost Wood', chanting the mantra twenty-one times, and give it to the patient to drink. There is also a method, if there is an eye disease, chant the mantra twenty-one times over flower water, and drink it and wash the eyes with it. There is also a method, if there is a chest disease, chant the mantra one hundred and eight times over a pomegranate, and drink it. There is also a method, if there is dysentery, whether it is red dysentery or diarrhea, take Achyranthes bidentata (ox-knee herb), chant the mantra one hundred and eight times, and drink it daily. There is also a method, if there is malaria, chant the mantra over a large head vegetable, and then drink it, and the disease will immediately disappear. There is also a method, if there is a headache, use a willow board, chant the mantra twenty-one times, and place it under the head. There is also a method, if you want to subdue an evil person, write his name, raise anger and evil thoughts, shoot the person's name once with a bow and arrow, and then recite the fifteen ghost mantras, calling out and adding that person's name, and that person will die within three days. When all kinds of birds and all kinds of monsters come together, first chant the mantra over the object that is causing the trouble, and that monster will suffer the strange effects itself and die naturally. Although there are many methods, they are not recorded in detail in the original scriptures. The above is commentary. This method can eliminate all evils and accomplish all good deeds, enabling the fulfillment of all desires, whether it is worldly or otherworldly blessings, high positions, or loving thoughts, all will be very auspicious.

The Method of Reciting the Child Sutra

On the altar, there is the character '惡' (evil), and this character will transform into a seven-jeweled pavilion. Above the pavilion, a heavenly canopy is spread, adorned with various treasures. In that palace, there is a lotus leaf seat, and on the seat is the character Patra, which transforms into the Great Brahma King (Mahabrahma). Beside the King, on the lotus leaf seat, there is the character Taila, which transforms into the Great King Chandana Gandharva. Beside the lotus leaf, there is the character Hum, which transforms into the fifteen ghost king generals, seventy-eight thousand.
