佛說安宅陀羅尼咒經

如是我聞。一時佛在舍衛國祇陀林中給孤精舍。與大比丘眾千二百五十人大菩薩眾四萬人俱。娑婆世界主梵天王。釋提桓因四大天王。提頭賴吒天王毗樓勒䩭天王。毗樓博叉天王。毗沙門天王。將二十八部鬼師大將軍。如是等諸天八萬四千阿利多。將其子及眷屬悉來在會。

爾時去此佛世界。過十萬億佛土。有世界名眾花。佛號最勝燈王如來應供等正覺。今現在說法。遣二菩薩一名大光二名無量光。而告之言。善男子汝等持此陀羅尼咒。至娑婆世界與釋迦牟尼佛。此咒多所饒益。能令眾生長夜安隱。獲大善利色力名譽。即說咒曰。

多跌他 波羅殊隸 殊隸 殊隸隸沙摩鞮摩訶娑摩鞮 娑慢帝 摩訶娑慢帝 娑隸娑羅隸 莎呵

時二菩薩從佛。受持陀羅尼咒。譬如壯夫屈申臂項。眾花國沒到舍衛國祇陀林中給孤獨精舍。時二菩薩前詣佛所。頭面禮足卻住一面。而白佛言。世尊去此世界過十萬億佛土。有世界名眾花。佛號最勝燈王如來應供等正覺。今現在說法。遣我等來問訊世尊。少病少惱氣力安不。諸弟子等。不為若魔若天若鬼

【English Translation】 English version The Buddha Speaks the Anzhai Dharani Sutra

Thus have I heard. At one time, the Buddha was in the Jeta Grove in Anathapindika's Park at Sravasti. He was with a gathering of 1,250 great Bhikshus and 40,000 great Bodhisattvas. The lord of the Sahā World, Brahmā, Śakra Devānām Indra, the Four Heavenly Kings: Dhṛtarāṣṭra, Virūḍhaka, Virūpākṣa, and Vaiśravaṇa, leading the twenty-eight classes of Yaksha (demon) master great generals. Such as these, eighty-four thousand Arītas, with their sons and dependents, all came to the assembly.

At that time, passing over ten trillion Buddha-lands from this Buddha-world, there was a world named Sarvapuṣpa, where the Buddha was named Supreme Light King Tathāgata, Arhat, Samyak-saṃbuddha, now expounding the Dharma. He sent two Bodhisattvas, one named Mahāprabha and the other named Amitaprabha, and told them, 'Good men, take this dhāraṇī and go to the Sahā World to give it to Śākyamuni Buddha. This mantra will bring many benefits, enabling sentient beings to have peace and security throughout the long night, and obtain great benefits, physical strength, and good reputation.' Then he spoke the mantra:

Tadyathā Paraśūre Śūre Śūreli Śamaṇḍi Mahāśamaṇḍi Samanite Mahāsamanite Sāre Sarāre Svāhā

At that time, the two Bodhisattvas received and upheld the dhāraṇī from the Buddha. As quickly as a strong man bends and stretches his arm, the Sarvapuṣpa country disappeared and they arrived at the Jeta Grove in Anathapindika's Park at Sravasti. Then, the two Bodhisattvas went before the Buddha, bowed their heads to his feet, and stood to one side. They said to the Buddha, 'World Honored One, passing over ten trillion Buddha-lands from this world, there is a world named Sarvapuṣpa, where the Buddha is named Supreme Light King Tathāgata, Arhat, Samyak-saṃbuddha, now expounding the Dharma. He sent us to inquire after the World Honored One's well-being, whether you have few illnesses and afflictions, and whether your strength is at peace. Are the disciples not troubled by Māras, Devas, or ghosts?'


若羅剎。若部多若鳩槃茶若富單那若毗舍遮。若餓鬼若阿修羅若迦樓羅若干人鬼。若乾陀鬼疫病鬼。若使人狂鬼若亂人心鬼。若方道鬼若起尸鬼。若一日發病鬼。若二日若三日若四日乃至七日發病鬼。若常發病鬼。如是等諸橫之所惱者。最勝燈王如來遣陀羅尼咒。來與世尊。亦欲令此娑婆世界眾生長夜安隱。獲大善利色力名譽。說咒如上。

爾時佛告阿難。汝當受持讀誦通利。為他解說書寫供養此陀羅尼咒。所以者何佛出世難。持是咒亦復甚難。阿難若有受持讀誦通利。得大福利。

【English Translation】 English version: Whether it be Rakshasa (demon), or Bhuta (ghost), or Kumbhanda (a type of demon with a pot-like belly), or Putana (a foul-smelling hungry ghost), or Pisaca (flesh-eating demon), or a hungry ghost, or Asura (demi-god), or Garuda (a mythical bird), whether it be various human ghosts, or Gandharva (a celestial musician) epidemic ghosts, or ghosts that cause madness, or ghosts that disturb people's minds, or ghosts of directions, or ghosts that raise corpses, or ghosts that cause illness for one day, or ghosts that cause illness for two days, three days, four days, up to seven days, or ghosts that cause chronic illness, those who are troubled by such misfortunes, Tathagata (Thus Come One) Most Excellent Lamp King sends the Dharani (mantra) to the World-Honored One, also wishing to bring long-lasting peace and great benefits, physical strength, and reputation to the beings of this Saha world, the mantra is as mentioned above. At that time, the Buddha told Ananda (the Buddha's cousin and principal disciple): 'You should receive, uphold, read, recite, understand, and explain this Dharani mantra to others, write it down, and make offerings to it.' Why? Because it is difficult for a Buddha to appear in the world, and it is also very difficult to uphold this mantra. Ananda, if someone receives, upholds, reads, recites, and understands it, they will obtain great blessings. The Buddha speaks the Maniro Dana Sutra.
