如是我聞。一時佛在舍衛國祇陀林中。爾時有一外道旃陀羅女。專行眾惡符書厭禱。或事山神樹神樹下鬼神。日月五星南斗北辰。一切魍魎雜魔邪魅。厭惑尊者阿難陀及諸善人。如是等恒河沙數。即時如來因見阿難陀恍惚。及憐愍一切三世有情故。為說此六字神咒王經。先佛所說我今亦說。即說咒曰。

【English Translation】 English version The Six-Syllable Divine Mantra King Sutra

Lost in the Kaiyuan period, the translator's name is missing, attached to the Liang Dynasty records.

Thus have I heard. At one time, the Buddha was in the Jeta Grove (Jetavana) in Śrāvastī (舍衛國). At that time, there was an outsider Caṇḍāla (旃陀羅) woman who specialized in various evil deeds, writing talismans and performing witchcraft. She either served mountain gods, tree gods, and ghosts under trees, or served the sun, moon, five planets, the Southern Dipper, the Northern Dipper, and all kinds of goblins, demons, and evil spirits. She used witchcraft to bewilder the Venerable Ānanda (阿難陀) and all virtuous people, as numerous as the sands of the Ganges. At that time, the Tathagata, seeing Ānanda's absent-mindedness and having compassion for all sentient beings in the three worlds, spoke this Six-Syllable Divine Mantra King Sutra. What the Buddhas of the past have said, I now also proclaim. Immediately, he spoke the mantra:

If someone performs evil curses against someone, whether they have already done so or are about to do so. Whether it is a deva, a demon, a dragon, a Yakṣa (夜叉), a Rākṣasa (羅剎), a hungry ghost, a Kumbhāṇḍa (鳩槃茶), a Pūtanā (富單那), a Piśāca (毗舍阇), an Apasmāra (阿波摩羅), an Upasmāra (優波摩羅), a Jīvaka (吉遮), a Khākhorda (佉傴陀), a Vaitāla (毗陀羅), an Ardhavaitāla (半毗陀羅), whether it is a Śrāmaṇa (沙門), a Brāhmaṇa (婆羅門), a Kṣatriya (剎帝利), a Vaiśya (吠舍), a Śūdra (首陀羅), whether it is a Mātaṅga (摩蹬伽), a Mātaṅga woman, a Caṇḍāla (旃陀羅), a Caṇḍāla woman, whether it is a slave, a servant, a man, a woman, whether it is a Nirgrantha (尼乾陀) outsider, or an outsider male or female renunciate. Like these and so on, if someone can perform curses and witchcraft, today I use this Six-Syllable Divine Mantra King Sutra, if it is done in the heavens, it will be destroyed in the heavens; if it is done on earth, it will be destroyed on earth.

佉𦙆佉住佉毗𦙆 緘壽 緘壽 多胝 婆胝 莎婆訶

若有為某甲作惡咒詛。若作已若當作。若天若龍若藥叉若羅剎。及與一切能作惡咒詛者悉皆滅之。若佉傴陀若毗陀羅若富單那所為悉皆滅之。眾惡都盡眾善補處。愿此咒常吉。以此真實章句。使某甲晝安夜安晝夜常安。得壽百歲得見百秋。何以故世間最上無過於法。天人所敬眾魔奉受離欲無著。即說咒曰。

佉胝佉住佉毗胝 緘壽 緘壽 多胝 婆胝 莎婆訶

何以故世間最上無過於僧。良善福田賢聖所敬眾善擁護。即說咒曰。

佉胝佉住佉毗胝 緘壽 緘壽 多胝婆胝兜帝 阿禰帝 阿周帝 莎婆訶

若有為某甲作惡咒詛。若和合毒藥若真若偽所作非法。若前身若今身行業眾惡。一切重罪悉皆滅之。即說咒曰。

摩休婆烏摩帝 烏摩陀徙陀禰 佉傴陀婆提徙陀禰 頻頭摩提 質帝質多提婆徙陀禰 阿鞞旃阿鞞 莎婆訶

若有人能誦持是六字神咒王經。假令咒枯樹可得還生枝葉。何況人身。使某甲得壽百歲得見百秋。諸佛所說阿難所傳。若人讀誦通利悉皆自護。眾惡遠身恒與善俱。若咒他者能除彼人眾苦惡患。讀者斷五辛至心鮮潔然後乃得行之。諸難兇禍無有遺余無不吉利。即說咒曰。

呵呵遮唎 呵呵那彌 呵呵浮陀摩提 呵呵尼呵咜 尼劬沙 呵呵尼呵陀 佉傴陀 尼毗沙佉傴陀 伊禰彌禰 陀弊 陀陀弊 莎婆訶

敬禮三寶。敬禮聖智海遍照莊嚴王如來。敬禮一切如來應正等覺。敬禮聖阿縛盧枳低濕伐羅摩訶薩埵。如是歸命已。然後說是神咒。愿此咒常吉。敬禮聖阿縛盧枳低濕伐羅。觀照我身(此一句如是三稱)憐愍我故。即說咒曰。

If someone performs evil curses against a certain person (a certain person), or uses mixed poisons, whether real or fake, or commits unlawful acts, or creates evil karma in past or present lives, all heavy sins can be extinguished. Therefore, the mantra is spoken:

If someone can recite and uphold this Six-Syllable Divine Mantra King Sutra, even a withered tree can be made to grow branches and leaves again, how much more so a human body? It can enable a certain person (a certain person) to attain a hundred years of life and see a hundred autumns. This is what the Buddhas have spoken and Ananda (Ananda) has transmitted. If someone reads and understands it thoroughly, they can protect themselves, all evil will be far from them, and they will always be accompanied by good deeds. If this mantra is used to curse others, it can eliminate their various sufferings and evil afflictions. The reader needs to abstain from the five pungent spices, be sincere and pure, and then they can practice it. All calamities and misfortunes will be completely eliminated, and everything will be auspicious. Therefore, the mantra is spoken:

Homage to the Holy Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva (Holy Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva). Having taken refuge in this way, then speak this divine mantra. May this mantra always be auspicious. Homage to the Holy Avalokiteshvara (Holy Avalokiteshvara). Behold my body (this phrase is repeated three times), out of compassion for me. Therefore, the mantra is spoken:

此咒能護一切厄難。鮮潔無垢解脫光明觀照縛一切賊行惡者無復迷荒念善者濟度眾難一切惡魔。現世護我身師子狂象虎狼豺犬猿猿。及諸惡獸慾害人者悉令被縛。我今為某甲及共行同伴。一切咒力所向之處行住坐臥愿悉平吉。即說咒曰。

知醯唎 知唎 牧唎 摩蹬耆 旃陀唎叉羅叉羅羅耶 莎婆訶

敬禮三寶必愿此咒令大吉善用此咒法。當用之日洗浴鮮潔凈除垢穢。身心恬怕不得行淫不食五辛飲酒啖肉。舌不惡語當以白縷手捉其綖。誦咒七遍一遍一結。作索成已若有官事被言。或逢斗諍更相咒詛。讒謗謀枉及一切眾惡以此咒結著其人衣帶中如上諸難悉皆滅之。事過之後。請佛法僧燒眾名香。設齋請福深修悲敬報佛慈恩主自解結髮大愿云我與一切四生永絕八難所愿從心。即說咒曰。

【English Translation】 English version Tuo pi a tuo she pi ni dan pi ni, an tuo li, bo tuo li, si bei ti, an tuo luo po si ni, sa lu dou shu cha, bo luo dou shu cha, zhi dan yan po ye, dan po ye mo he ye ye po mao luo, ti na mao zhe ti, lu lou zhi cha na tuo si, lu lou lu lou zhi cha bo tuo si, suo po he.

This mantra can protect against all calamities. Pure and immaculate, dissolving obscurations and illuminating contemplation, binding all thieves and evildoers, eliminating confusion and wildness, delivering virtuous ones from all difficulties, and subduing all demons. In this life, protect my body from lions, mad elephants, tigers, wolves, jackals, dogs, monkeys, and all evil beings who harm people, binding them all. Now, for so-and-so and their companions, may all places where the power of this mantra is directed, whether walking, standing, sitting, or lying down, be peaceful and auspicious. The mantra is spoken thus:

Zhi xi li, zhi li, mu li, mo deng qi, zhan tuo li cha luo cha luo luo ye, suo po he.

Pay homage to the Three Jewels, may this mantra bring great auspiciousness, and use this mantra skillfully. On the day of use, bathe and cleanse, purify away defilements, keep the body and mind tranquil, abstain from sexual activity, do not eat the five pungent roots, drink alcohol, or eat meat, and do not speak evil words. Take a white thread in your hand, recite the mantra seven times, making a knot with each recitation. Once the cord is made, if there are official matters, accusations, or disputes, mutual curses, slanders, plots, or all kinds of evils, tie this mantra to the person's clothing belt, and all the above difficulties will be extinguished. After the matter is over, invite the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, burn various fragrant incenses, offer a vegetarian feast, pray for blessings, deeply cultivate compassion and reverence, repay the Buddha's kindness, the host unties the knots themselves, and makes a great vow, saying: 'I and all sentient beings in the four forms of birth will forever be free from the eight difficulties, and may all wishes be fulfilled.' 【English Translation】 English version: Homage to the holy Avalokiteśvara (觀世音菩薩, the Bodhisattva of Compassion), who subdues poisons and rescues from suffering. Homage to Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva (文殊菩薩, the Bodhisattva of Wisdom) and Samantabhadra Bodhisattva (普賢菩薩, the Bodhisattva of Universal Virtue). Maitreya Bodhisattva (彌勒菩薩, the future Buddha), Kṣitigarbha Bodhisattva, Śāntendriya Bodhisattva, Jñānadhvaja Bodhisattva, Sadāparibhūta Bodhisattva, Śūraṅgama-samādhi (首楞嚴三昧, the Śūraṅgama Samadhi) Ākāśagarbha (虛空藏, the Bodhisattva of the Treasury of Space). Ratnadhvaja, the Mahāmāyūrī-vidyārājñī-dhāraṇī (孔雀王陀羅尼, the Great Peacock Queen of Spells), the six-syllable chapter and verse, Bhaiṣajyarāja, Bhaiṣajyasamudgata, Dṛḍhamati, Anupalabdhi-caritra, and other bodhisattva-mahāsattvas (菩薩摩訶薩, great bodhisattvas). Each is called by their name. I take refuge in all such enlightened holy beings. Then, I will speak this great dhāraṇī, this divine mantra. Namely, the mantra is spoken thus:

Karaṇi mati, viśodhani, gate vara vi, yaśa śura vare, dadhi udadhi sandha vadhi, śata mukha, uttarani, śata vara viśa viśantada, kariśa, vasana vagati, kuśala vabhavani, a udadhi śanti viśanti, jñati, ajñati, tanna gati, a tanna gati, avasari, aśeṣa raṇe, varaṇe muli, mura mura vadari, śani vara ruk, suri vate śute vara ruk, suvi mare ammare, svāhā.

This mantra can dispel all darkness. It is held by the Tathāgata and revered by the devas. The good deities protect and remember it, and it is understood by Brahma. Indra reveres and serves it, and it is protected by the guardians of the world. It is determined by all the sages and held by the immortals. It harmonizes all lineages and liberates from bonds. All the devas and humans sever afflictions, subdue demonic enemies, control external paths, destroy arrogance, surpass dharma masters in debate and contention, and without exception, attain victory. Good roots increase, body and mind are purified, and the multitude is not abandoned. It pleases all who study the Dharma and protects the scriptures. It is a profound Dharma treasury that benefits the Three Jewels. It has compassion for all sentient beings. It adorns all meanings and has such great benefits. This beneficial matter is named the inexhaustible treasury of dhāraṇī chapters and verses, which protects even without protection. If there is someone who can read, recite, and uphold it, or cause others to write it, or even offer incense and flowers to the scriptures, they will obtain thirty-two certain freedom from fear and difficulty. Those who use this mantra should bathe in the morning, rinse their mouths, burn incense, and prostrate with a deep heart.

【English Translation】 English version: After reciting it three times in this manner, wherever you go, whatever you say, you will be revered by the four assemblies (bhikṣu, bhikṣuṇī, upāsaka, upāsikā, monks, nuns, laymen, and laywomen), and the direction you go will never be inauspicious. People will respect you, and those who see you will rejoice. Even enemies will surrender and comply. Ānanda, you should wholeheartedly uphold this dhāraṇī (dhāraṇī) verse. When the Buddha spoke this Dharma, all the devas (deva), nāgas (nāga), and the eight classes of supernatural beings (deva-nāga-yakṣa-gandharva-asura-garuḍa-kiṃnara-mahoraga, celestial dragons and other eight kinds of supernatural beings), ghosts, and spirits, hearing what the Buddha said, were all very happy, paid homage, and departed.
