惟夫聖力難準靈心罕究。六神通之妙業。八自在之玄功。持恭實而納崇山。析毫端而容大海。豈止分身百億。現影三千而已也。千手千眼菩薩者。即觀世音之變現。伏魔怨之神蹟也。自唐武德之歲。中天竺婆羅門僧瞿多提婆。于細㲲上圖畫形質。及結壇手印經本至京進上。太武見而不珍。其僧悒而旋轡。至貞觀年中。復有北天竺僧。赍千臂千眼陀羅尼梵本奉進。文武聖帝敕令大總持寺法師智通。共梵僧翻出咒經並手印等。智通法師三覆既了。即祈心懇切佇流徴應。於是感慶喜尊者之俯降形儀。通悲喜驚嗟投身頂謁。蒙存慰喻問欲何求。通曰搗昧庸心輒此詳譯。不審情詣稍符聖旨以否。默而印許。竊表深衷。便錄本進上。帝委問由緒。通具以事述感愜帝心。於是赍藁本出內將示。弘福大德玄暮法師一見此文嗟稱不已。有人云敕未流行何因忽茲漏泄。其本遂寢不復弘揚。又有西來梵僧。持一經夾以示智通。通還翻出。諸餘不殊舊本。唯闕身咒一科。有常州正勤寺主慧琳法師。功德為務定慧是崇。深入總持周窮藝術。歷游京邑遷遲實際伽

【English Translation】 English version: The draft was extensively considered, and the divergent accounts were simplified and organized by Xicheng. At that time, there was a Brahmin monk from North India named Sugāshi (name of a person), who constantly upheld this Dharma, forming altars and using hand gestures, praying devoutly morning and evening. Lin frequently consulted him, but encountered difficulties and obstacles each time. Later, he came to Luoyang with Sugāshi, who gradually revealed the path within. Therefore, he invited a devout layperson named Lǐ Tàiyī (name of a person), who was erudite, proficient in Sanskrit, and had a deep understanding of metaphysics and Confucianism. He was asked to refine and polish the text, making it coherent. The Sanskrit pronunciation and body mantra were recorded in detail, making it complete. During the Shen Gong era, a virtuous person came from the capital, bringing the later version translated by Master Zhitong, which consisted of two volumes, but lacked the body mantra. Lin supplemented this body mantra. In this way, the earlier and later versions were like a family, both tactful and complete. In addition, there was a Brahmin monk named Dharmachanda (name of a person) at the Buddha Prediction Temple, who was from the country of Udyana. He was skilled in the Siddharani mantras. He often translated by imperial decree. He painted an image of the Thousand-Armed Bodhisattva on fine felt (a type of woolen fabric) and presented the sutra and mantra to the emperor. The Divine Emperor ordered palace women to embroider it, or had craftsmen paint it, spreading it throughout the world, preserving the Bodhisattva's spiritual form. Bolun also heard about the origin of this monk from the Brahmin Vinayas Master, Zhen Di. Vinayas Master Zhen Di said that there was a powerful ghost spirit named Vinayaka (the elephant-headed god), who could obstruct all good dharmas, preventing them from being accomplished, and would surely increase all evil deeds. Although Guanshiyin Bodhisattva had wonderful powers and psychic abilities, he could not subdue him. Guanshiyin Bodhisattva then manifested the form of a thousand arms and a thousand eyes to subdue this spirit. And the related mantras, whose effect will never fade. It is hoped that future benefactors will not be confused.

At that time, Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva Mahāsattva (Guanshiyin Bodhisattva Mahāsattva) said to the Buddha: 'World Honored One, this is due to the inconceivable merits and causes of my past life. Now I am honored to receive the prediction from the World Honored One, wanting to benefit all sentient beings, to arouse great compassion, to be able to cut off all bonds, to be able to extinguish all fears. All sentient beings, receiving this majestic power, will be able to escape the causes of suffering and obtain the fruits of happiness. 爾時世尊讚歎觀世音菩薩言。善哉善哉汝能如是。利益安樂天人阿修羅等及凈業道。我今以智印印之。令汝永不退轉。
爾時觀世音菩薩。又白佛言。世尊。我念過去無量劫中。持此陀羅尼法門。在布怛羅山中。乃逢魔王領諸魔眾。惱亂我法令使咒句不成。爾時我以此陀羅尼法。降伏是魔悉皆退散。當知此陀羅尼力不可思議。
爾時觀世音菩薩。慈悲故利益故安樂天人故。即說姥陀羅尼法。
千眼千臂觀世音菩薩大身咒
【現代漢語翻譯】 現代漢語譯本:羅尼神咒的法門全部都能成就。現在我念誦是爲了報答世尊的恩德。無論在任何地方,乃至村莊、城市、國家、聚落,或在山野、或在林間,我都會常常跟隨擁護這個人,不讓一切鬼神來擾亂侵害他。
這時觀世音菩薩,又對佛說:『世尊,末法時代的眾生,業障深重,福報淺薄的人很多,不能專心憶念。即使有人受持,也可能被鬼神侵害。現在我憑藉佛的威神之力,廣泛地饒益一切眾生,使天人、阿修羅等得到安樂,為他們宣說陀羅尼法。我在過去無量劫中,曾經親近供養這樣的陀羅尼法。乃至過去、未來、現在諸佛,都是因為這個陀羅尼法門,得到阿耨多羅三藐三菩提(Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi,無上正等正覺)。如果有善男子、善女人等,專心憶念受持這個陀羅尼法門,這個人現世口才流利,沒有阻礙,智慧辯才通達,在一切天人大眾中最為第一。聽聞的人歡喜,都稽首敬禮。在所生之處常常得見佛、法、僧三寶。所說的話,人們都相信接受。應當知道這是諸佛的威神之力,不是我自己的力量。』

這時觀世音菩薩,又對佛說:『世尊,我憶念過去無量劫中,持誦這個陀羅尼法門,在布怛羅山(Potalaka,普陀山)中,曾經遇到魔王帶領眾多魔眾,惱亂我的法,使咒語不能成功。那時我用這個陀羅尼法,降伏這些魔,使他們全部退散。應當知道這個陀羅尼的力量不可思議。』
這時觀世音菩薩,因為慈悲,因為利益,因為安樂天人,就宣說了姥陀羅尼法。

【English Translation】 English version: The methods of the Roni mantra are all accomplished. Now I recite to repay the kindness of the World Honored One. Wherever I am, even in villages, cities, countries, settlements, or in mountains and fields, or in forests, I will always follow and protect this person, not allowing any ghosts or spirits to disturb or harm them.
At that time, Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva, again said to the Buddha: 'World Honored One, in the future five hundred years, there will be many beings with heavy defilements and little merit, unable to concentrate their minds. Even if someone receives it, they may be harmed by ghosts and spirits. Now, with the power of the Buddha's majestic spirit, I will extensively benefit all beings, bringing peace and happiness to devas, asuras, and others, and speak the Dharani Dharma for them. In the past countless kalpas, I have been close to and made offerings to such Dharani Dharma. Even the Buddhas of the past, future, and present, all attained Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi (unsurpassed, complete, perfect enlightenment) because of this Dharani Dharma. If there are good men and good women who single-mindedly receive and uphold this Dharani Dharma, this person will have fluent speech in this life, without obstruction, and their wisdom and eloquence will be penetrating. They will be the foremost among all devas and humans. Those who hear it will rejoice and bow their heads in reverence. In every place they are born, they will always see the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha. What they say will be believed and accepted by people. Know that this is the power of the Buddhas' majestic spirit, not my own power.'
At that time, the World Honored One praised Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva, saying: 'Excellent, excellent! You are able to benefit and bring peace and happiness to devas, asuras, and others, as well as the path of pure karma. Now I seal it with the seal of wisdom, so that you will never regress.'
At that time, Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva, again said to the Buddha: 'World Honored One, I remember in the past countless kalpas, while holding this Dharani Dharma in Mount Potalaka (Potala Mountain), I encountered the demon king leading many demons, disturbing my Dharma and preventing the mantra from being successful. At that time, I used this Dharani Dharma to subdue these demons, causing them all to scatter. Know that the power of this Dharani is inconceivable.'
At that time, Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva, out of compassion, for the benefit, and for the peace and happiness of devas, then spoke the Mu Dharani Dharma.

At that time, Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva Mahasattva spoke this Dharani, named 'Bhagavan Lotus Hand Adorned Treasure Staff'. The World Honored One spoke it in the Great Vajra Joyful Palace. It is praised by the Supreme Victorious Bodhisattva and countless Devas, Nagas, and Kinnaras. It is for destroying vast mountains of karmic obstacles. If there are those who hear, read, or recite this Dharani, all their afflictions and karmic obstacles will be extinguished. If someone arises with a respectful heart in the morning and recites this Dharani, Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva will constantly follow and protect this person. All their thoughts and wishes will be fulfilled. If there are those who seek to have their wishes fulfilled, they should sit alone in a quiet place, focusing their mind on Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva without any other distractions. Recite this Dharani seven times, and no wish will be unfulfilled. Moreover, they will be loved by all sentient beings and will not fall into any of the evil realms. Whether sitting, walking, or standing, constantly remember the Buddha as if he were before your eyes. This person, in countless hundreds of thousands of kotis of lives, will have all accumulated evil karmas extinguished. This person will obtain the blessings of a thousand Chakravartin Kings. In every life, they will be born at the same time as Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva and be born into noble families. If one scatters a handful of fragrant flowers before Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva and recites this Dharani seven times, they will obtain great thousands of merits and the Dharma nature of great compassion. That person will attain great power and accomplishment in the world. If one looks at the face of the Bodhisattva and recites this Dharani mantra, they will see the smiling face of Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva. Upon seeing it, they will attain the 'stainless ground' and be able to illuminate the world. In this very life, they will see the Buddha's compassionate thoughts and receive his embrace. At the time of death, they will enter into Samadhi. In every life, they will obtain knowledge of past lives. All sins and obstacles will be extinguished. If one wishes to receive and uphold this Dharani, they should, on the fifteenth day of the white month, observe the eight precepts and wear clean white clothes. They can do this at a stupa containing relics of the Buddha or before a relic of the Buddha. Use white sandalwood to make mud and plaster the altar (grind the white sandalwood on a stone to obtain powder and use it to plaster the ground). Scatter various flowers on the altar.

【English Translation】 English version: Burn incense and light lamps before the Buddha, which generates a respectful heart towards the Buddha. Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva will come into this mandala. One should recite this dhāraṇī one hundred and eight times. All the karmic obstacles of this person, including the five heinous crimes, will all be eliminated. The karma of body, speech, and mind will all be purified. One will obtain the power of the Buddha's samādhi, the power of abhiseka (consecration), the power of pāramitā (perfection), and the power of supreme wisdom, all of which will be accomplished. If rain is needed, one should look at the sky and recite this dhāraṇī, and sweet rain will fall immediately. If one recites this dhāraṇī while looking at the earth, it can cause all grains to ripen. If one recites this dhāraṇī by a dried-up pond, river, or spring, the water will be replenished and filled. If someone is suffering from illness, one should recite this dhāraṇī and rub them with one's hand, and the illness will be cured. If one recites this dhāraṇī near someone who has lost mindfulness, they will regain right mindfulness. If one recites this dhāraṇī while looking at the faces of hungry and thirsty people, all their hunger and thirst will be eliminated. If one wants to establish a boundary, one should enter the pond and write this dhāraṇī, tying it to a banner. Within one hundred yojanas (yojana, an ancient Indian unit of distance), there will be no misfortunes or calamities. Thus, the boundary will be established, and protection will be achieved.
The First Mudrā of the Thousand-Eyed, Thousand-Armed Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva, the General Gathering Body Mudrā
First, stand upright with your body erect and your feet together. Slightly bend your right leg a little. First, extend your left hand downward, bending your middle and ring fingers together into the palm, and spreading your little finger, index finger, and thumb. Turn your palm upward. Then, do the same with your right hand, bending your elbow to the level of your shoulder and navel, with your palm facing forward. This is the General Gathering Body Mudrā. Thousand-Eyed and Thousand-Armed Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva's General Holding Dhāraṇī Mudrā Second
According to the previous body mudrā. Join palms at the heart. Interlock the five fingers, left pressing on right. The two index fingers are erected straight, tips touching. The two thumbs are attached to the index fingers, pressing on the first line of the fingers. Palms slightly open. This mudrā is named the General Holding Dhāraṇī Dharma. One who makes this mudrā can extinguish the immeasurable evil karma from countless lifetimes of birth and death. Sins and obstacles are eliminated at once. In the future, one will be reborn in the pure lands of the ten directions. In the past, when Śākyamuni Tathāgata was about to attain enlightenment, he was troubled by the demon king. He made this General Holding Dhāraṇī Mudrā and obtained peaceful samādhi. The mantra is:

This mudrā is named the Liberation Samādhi Mudrā. All Buddhas of the past cultivated this Dharma, obtained samādhi liberation and supernatural powers. Each time one makes offerings with this Dharma, one can see the Buddhas of the ten directions clearly appearing before one's eyes. The mantra is the same as before.
Thousand-Eyed and Thousand-Armed Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva's Thousand-Eye Mudrā Mantra Fourth
Stand up straight with feet together. First, the two middle fingers, ring fingers, and little fingers, each with the backs of the nails touching each other. The two index fingers are erected straight, tips touching. The two thumbs are placed sideways, attached to the side of the second line of the index fingers. Open the wrists about five inches and place them between the eyebrows. This is named the Thousand-Eye Mudrā. One who makes this mudrā mantra Dharma method will immediately be able to see hundreds of thousands of millions of world Buddha lands, pure and wonderful lands. In each Buddha land, one will obtain one million four thousand Bodhisattvas, who will be companions with the practitioner. If one has not been through the Samantabhadra Mandala (三曼茶羅) (altar), one will certainly not be able to see this mudrā Dharma method mantra mudrā, causing one to commit offenses (generally cultivate this Dharma mudrā closely).

This mudra and mantra method can gather countless Dharani mudra methods. If, during a solar or lunar eclipse, one chants over ghee twenty-one times and eats the ghee marked with this mudra, it will make one intelligent and able to recite ten thousand verses a day. This mudra method was bestowed upon Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva by the Tathāgata Nikrizha (日藏如來).
The Ninth Mudra of Thousand-Eyed, Thousand-Armed Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva's Joyful Mani Wish-Fulfilling Pearl
Stand and bring your palms together at your heart. Bend both thumbs and place them inside your palms. Keep the remaining four fingers straight and together at your heart. Recite the previous Great Body Mantra twenty-one times. You will definitely enter the palaces of the devas, travel through the Buddha lands of the ten directions, and obtain hundreds of thousands of treasures as you wish, all to be used to make offerings to all Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Vajras, and all holy beings. If someone can practice this method, they should rise early in the morning, purify themselves with a bath, and perform this mudra. They will see Buddhas as numerous as the sands of the Ganges in the ten directions, and eradicate the heavy sins of countless kalpas of birth and death. Therefore, praise the merits of this mudra.
The Tenth Mudra of Thousand-Eyed, Thousand-Armed Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva's Wish-Fulfilling Request
The mudra is the same as before. Bend the two index fingers and press them onto the nails of the two thumbs, with the backs of the index finger nails touching each other. Use the previous Great Body Mantra. If someone makes a request, all their wishes will be fulfilled, and they will definitely not regress from the path to Bodhi.
The Eleventh Mudra of Thousand-Eyed, Thousand-Armed Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva's Entering the Samadhi of Cessation
The mudra is the same as before. Straighten and spread the index fingers and thumbs, and open the palms. When I was on the causal ground, countless Buddhas as numerous as the sands of the Ganges transmitted this method to me, enabling me to attain the path to Bodhi. Recite the Great Body Mantra.
The Twelfth Mudra of Thousand-Eyed, Thousand-Armed Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva's Inviting Buddha Samadhi
The mudra is the same as before, bring your palms together at your heart, and move the index fingers back and forth. The mantra is:

The Sanskrit text states that this land does not have suitable ground for creating Maṇḍalas. Like in India (Tianzhú), the most auspicious and virtuous land is chosen as the altar site. Build a foundation twelve to sixteen fingers high; a height of one cubit is considered superior. First, take white sandalwood incense, grind it into powder on a stone, and apply it to the Maṇḍala. Use five-colored powders to draw the boundaries, and open four gates on the four sides of the altar.
The eastern gate is where Dhṛtarāṣṭra (Dītóulàichá Tiānwáng, Holder of the Realm) is placed.

【現代漢語翻譯】 現代漢語譯本: 結完兩個手印后,應當發起不退轉的堅固之心。只需依法呼喚,讓一切眾生都來,令他們發起菩提的決定之心。端正坐好,觀想一切咒神都在你的眼前。沒有絲毫障礙,必定能夠成功。誦唸之前的大身咒滿一千零八十遍。
這時,觀世音菩薩應當化現為阿難(Ananda,佛陀十大弟子之一)的身相,來問修行者需要什麼法,求什麼愿(此語是智通親自供養時蒙受,並記錄下來的)。
修行者回答說:『爲了求無上菩提陀羅尼法。如果蒙受授記之時,只願發起慇勤之心,不求名利。所愿是救助一切眾生,視他們如同一子。又愿一切鬼神都順從降伏。得到如願后,自己知道就行了,不得向人傳說。』
(智通翻譯此法與玄暮一本,玄暮受學)如果想要得到一切願望,應當作四肘的水曼茶羅法。燒沉香,誦唸之前的大身咒一百零八遍,作之前的第十乞愿印,就能得到一切如願滿足。完畢后,就焚燒掉這一本經書。此外再沒有如此的供養。一切陀羅尼法門都能成就。又有一種方法,如果想要得到一切歡喜,作之前的第九摩尼隨意明珠印,誦唸身咒,咒烏麻二十一遍,在火中燒掉,就能得到如意。如果想要令喝羅阇(Hararaja)歡喜,應當取喝羅阇園內的樹枝,咒二十一遍,扔到園中,就能得到歡喜。如果想要降伏惡人怨家,應當咒苦楝木二十一遍,在火中燒掉,就能使其歸順降伏。又有一種方法,如果有神鬼難以調伏,取安息香及白芥子,咒二十一遍,扔到火中燒,一切神鬼病者自然臣服。記載有疫病流行時,當作四肘水曼茶羅,取好的牛酥,咒一百零八遍,在火中燒掉,一切災疫都能消滅。又取少許酥,給疫病病人食用,立即痊癒。
【English Translation】 English version: After completing the two mudras (hand gestures), one should generate an unwavering and firm resolve. Simply invoke and summon all beings, inspiring them to develop a resolute mind for Bodhi (enlightenment). Sit upright and visualize all the mantra deities before you. Without any obstacles, success is assured. Recite the Great Body Mantra one thousand and eighty times.
At that time, Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva (the Bodhisattva of Compassion) should manifest in the form and appearance of Ananda (one of the ten principal disciples of the Buddha), and ask the practitioner what Dharma (teachings) they need and what wishes they seek (these words were personally received by Zhitong during offerings and recorded).
The practitioner replies: 'I seek the unsurpassed Bodhi Dharani (a type of mantra) method. If I am to receive a prophecy, I only wish to generate a diligent mind, without seeking fame or gain. My wish is to save all sentient beings, regarding them as my own children. I also wish that all ghosts and spirits will obediently submit. Once my wishes are fulfilled, I will keep it to myself and not tell others.'
(Zhitong translated this method with Xuanmu's copy, and Xuanmu learned it.) If you wish to obtain all desires, you should create a four-cubit water mandala (a symbolic diagram). Burn benzoin incense and recite the Great Body Mantra one hundred and eight times. Perform the tenth wish-granting mudra, and you will obtain all your desired fulfillments. After completion, burn this scripture. There is no other offering like this. All Dharani methods will be accomplished. Another method: if you wish to obtain all joy, perform the ninth Mani (jewel) wish-fulfilling jewel mudra, recite the body mantra, chant over sesame seeds twenty-one times, and burn them in the fire, and you will obtain wish fulfillment. If you wish to please Hararaja (a deity), take a branch from a tree in Hararaja's garden, chant over it twenty-one times, and throw it into the garden, and you will obtain joy. If you wish to subdue evil people and enemies, chant over neem wood twenty-one times, and burn it in the fire, and they will submit. Another method: if there are gods or ghosts that are difficult to subdue, take benzoin and white mustard seeds, chant over them twenty-one times, and throw them into the fire, and all sick gods and ghosts will naturally submit. It is recorded that when epidemics are prevalent, create a four-cubit water mandala, take good ghee (clarified butter), chant over it one hundred and eight times, and burn it in the fire, and all disasters and epidemics will be eliminated. Also, take a small portion of ghee and give it to patients with the epidemic to eat, and they will be cured immediately.

【English Translation】 English version: Cured. In the past, there was a plague epidemic in the country of Kashmir (Kashmir). People who contracted the disease would die within one or two days. There was a Brahmin named Zhendi who used this Dharma method, and the plague was immediately eradicated. The King of Disease-Spreading Ghosts left the country, knowing that this Dharma method was very effective. Furthermore, if other countries invade, or if there are rebellious thieves, one can form the previously mentioned First All-Encompassing Body Mudra, and recite the mantra one hundred and eight times, and all the thieves will naturally disappear. If the life roots of all beings subject to karmic retribution are about to expire, one can form the previously mentioned Extinction Samadhi Mudra, make offerings daily, burn incense, and recite the mantra one thousand and eighty times, and their karmic obstacles will be transformed. In the past, in the country of Varanasi (Varanasi), there was an elder who had only one son, whose lifespan was only sixteen years. When he was fifteen years old, a Brahmin came begging for food from door to door and saw the elder looking worried and unhappy, his wife and him haggard and pale. The Brahmin asked, 'Elder, why are you so unhappy?' The elder explained the reason. The Brahmin replied, 'Elder, do not worry. Just give him the food that is allotted to me, and he will gain longevity.' At that time, the Brahmin practiced this Dharma method for one day and one night, and received a report from King Yama saying, 'The elder's son's life root was originally only sixteen years, and now he is fifteen years old, with only one year left. Now he has encountered a good karmic condition and can live to eighty years, so I have come to inform you.' At that time, the elder and his wife rejoiced and danced, and gave all their wealth to the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. It should be known that this Dharma method is inconceivable and has great divine efficacy. Those who have already entered the Great Assembly Samantabhadra (Samantabhadra) Vajra Grand Altar do not need to create a mandala again, but only need to form mudras and recite mantras, and there is no wish that cannot be fulfilled, and they will quickly attain Buddhahood. If a woman is in great pain during childbirth, one can recite the mantra twenty-one times to bless ghee and have her eat it, and she will surely be safe and smooth. The boys and girls born will have beautiful appearances, adorned with various good deeds, and have accumulated virtuous roots in past lives, making them loved and respected, and they will always enjoy supreme happiness among people. If beings have eye pain, the mantra master can use the Bodhisattva Thousand-Eyed Mudra and recite the mantra twenty-one times, and use the mudra to bless the eyes, and the eyes will be healed immediately. By virtue of this great karmic condition, this person can obtain the divine eye, with light shining through, seeing the places where various heavenly beings enjoy supreme happiness in the upper realms. The body of the Bodhisattva should be made of sandalwood gold color, with three eyes on the face and one thousand arms. Each palm should have an eye. No glue should be added to the colors. Mix the colors with fragrant milk. The Bodhisattva should wear a seven-jeweled heavenly crown on the head and a necklace of jewels on the body. Maheśvara (Great Lord, Lord Shiva) of the Heaven of Akaniṣṭha (highest of the form realm heavens) felt uneasy and greatly frightened. All the evil ghosts cried out loudly, suffering great torment, scattering in all directions, not knowing where to go. At that time, the manifested body addressed the assembly and all the evil ghosts and spirits, saying: 'If you do not follow my mantra, those who defy me will have their heads shattered into pieces.' This mantra can destroy mountains and dry up the great sea. This mantra can destroy the Asura (demi-gods) armies and protect all countries. This mantra can subdue all evil ghosts and spirits, all constellations, all evil poisons, all diseases, and all evil people. This mantra can destroy the Thirty-three Heavens, causing them all to submit. If there is a good man who can recite and uphold this mantra, the power of that person is inexhaustible. This mantra can make those who recite and uphold it wealthy and free, and can also cause the king to love and cherish them throughout their lives, fulfilling all their wishes and desires. If you wish to subdue demonic enemies, you should burn Guggulu incense and recite my body mantra twenty-one times. If you wish to be loved by everyone, recite the willow branch twenty-one times and chew it in your mouth, and you will be loved and respected. If you wish to have eloquence and wisdom, recite the sweet flag (Acorus calamus) one thousand and eight times and apply it to your heart, and you will gain unobstructed eloquence. Make the Mudra (seal) of the Heart Mantra of the Mūla-dhāraṇī.
Thirteenth Mudra of Unobstructed Eloquence of Thousand-Eyed, Thousand-Armed Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva
With both hands back to back, palms together. Extend the two thumbs forward. This mudra can protect oneself and others. You should establish boundaries wherever you go, either by reciting over clean water or reciting over clean ashes, each recited seven times. In the place where you live, use your hands to scoop water or ashes, first sprinkle it on yourself, and then scatter it in the four directions and four corners according to the Dharma. If there is a good man or good woman who is confused or disturbed by various evil ghosts, demons, or goblins, take pomegranate branches and willow branches, silently recite this mantra, and gently strike the patient, and there is no disease that cannot be cured. 起立以左手向前展臂。五指向前散拓豎五指。次以右手大母指屈在掌中。以四指把拳當右耳上。當誦身咒頭指來去。此印日別須三時。一時誦七遍。能滅五逆四重罪。於一切眾生生慈悲心。即能燒一切罪根。此身滅后即得值佛。于彼佛土得作轉輪聖王。復得陀羅尼名曰無量無盡藏。復得三昧名智等。復得身中二十八種相。現身不患眼舌耳鼻等痛。乃至身中一切疾病悉能消滅。若有先業罪者亦得消滅。若見天旱時。取烏麻子和稗麻子脂。捻作丸咒一百八遍。擲著湫水中即得雨。若雨過多。取稻穀燒作灰。取蔓菁子脂和作丸。咒之一百八遍。擲著湫水中雨即止也。
菩薩降伏三千大千世界魔怨印第十五

菩薩降伏三千大千世界魔怨印第十五

This mantra and mudra can subdue all heretical views and non-Buddhist paths. If there is a virtuous man or virtuous woman who recites it once at one of the three times of morning, noon, and sunset, it is no different from making various offerings to ten billion Buddhas. They will never be reborn as a woman, and after death, they will be forever free from the three evil realms (hell, hungry ghosts, and animals), and will be reborn in the Buddha-land of Amitabha (Amitabha). The Tathagata will extend his hand to touch their head and say, 'Do not be afraid, come to my country in the next life.' In this life, they will not suffer accidental death and will not be taken advantage of by ghosts and spirits.
Bodhisattva's Mudra for Destroying the Great Thousand Worlds and Eradicating Sins, Fourteenth
Stand up, extend your left hand forward, stretch your arm, spread your five fingers forward, and raise the five fingers. Then, bend the thumb of your right hand into the palm, make a fist with the other four fingers, and place it above your right ear. While reciting the body mantra, move your index finger back and forth. This mudra must be performed at three times each day, reciting it seven times each time. It can eradicate the five heinous crimes (killing one's father, killing one's mother, killing an Arhat, shedding the blood of a Buddha, and disrupting the Sangha) and the four grave offenses (the four root precepts of killing, stealing, sexual misconduct, and lying committed by a Bhikshu). Generate compassion for all sentient beings, and you will be able to burn away all roots of sin. After this body is destroyed, you will be able to meet the Buddha and become a Chakravartin King in that Buddha-land. You will also obtain a Dharani called Immeasurable and Inexhaustible Treasury. You will also obtain a Samadhi called Wisdom Equal. You will also obtain twenty-eight kinds of auspicious marks on your body. In this life, you will not suffer from pain in your eyes, tongue, ears, nose, etc., and all diseases in your body can be eliminated. If there are past karmic sins, they can also be eliminated. If you encounter a drought, take sesame seeds and barnyard millet oil, make them into a pill, chant the mantra one hundred and eight times, and throw it into a pond, and it will rain. Cross your five fingers, with your left hand pressing on your right hand, clench your fist tightly, and place it on top of your head. Recite the body mantra and you will be able to subdue them. If you perform this practice facing a stupa for twenty-nine nights.
取白檀香作末。塗地作曼荼羅。其中散種種花。澡浴清凈著新凈衣。手把香爐燒沉水香。面向東坐咒一千八遍。此是最初功能。又取芥子烏麻。著一處搗為末。以三指撮取少許。咒之一遍擲著火中。如是七日日別一百八遍。然後所作悉皆成就。
菩薩廣大無畏印第十六
起立並足。先以右手仰承左肘頭。左手亦如之。于舍利像前。誦身咒一百八遍。即得無畏施於眾生。又取茴香白芥子昌蒲舍多婆利(外國藥名)以此等物。內火中燒之。燒火之時應于佛前或在凈處。誦咒三十二遍。以香花供養。咒法悉皆成就。所為之者皆悉克果。若余咒無驗。以此咒咒之亦皆成就。若欲乞夢。誦此咒並作印印眼。即有夢隨所欲見皆得見之。若人無福所向不諧者。日誦三遍咒滿七日。諸有所求一切皆得。

【English Translation】 English version: Take white sandalwood and grind it into powder. Use it to paint the ground to create a Mandala (sacred space). Scatter various flowers within the Mandala. Bathe and purify yourself, and wear new, clean clothes. Hold an incense burner and burn aloeswood incense. Sit facing east and chant the mantra one thousand and eight times. This is the initial effect. Then take mustard seeds and black sesame seeds, grind them together into powder. Take a small amount with three fingers, chant the mantra once, and throw it into the fire. Do this for seven days, chanting the mantra one hundred and eight times each day. Then everything you do will be accomplished.
The Sixteenth Mudra of the Bodhisattva's Great Fearlessness
Stand up straight with your feet together. First, use your right hand, palm up, to support your left elbow. Do the same with your left hand. In front of a Sharira (relics of the Buddha or saints) image, recite the body mantra one hundred and eight times. You will then be able to bestow fearlessness upon all beings. Also, take fennel, white mustard seeds, sweet flag, and Shatavari (a foreign medicinal herb), and burn these items in the fire. When burning the fire, you should be in front of the Buddha or in a clean place. Recite the mantra thirty-two times, and make offerings of incense and flowers. All the mantra practices will be accomplished, and everything you do will be successful. If other mantras are ineffective, use this mantra to bless them, and they will all be accomplished. If you want to request a dream, recite this mantra and make the mudra, pressing it against your eyes. You will have a dream, and you will see whatever you desire to see. If a person has no blessings and everything they do goes wrong, recite this mantra three times a day for seven days. All their requests will be fulfilled.
At that time, the Bodhisattva was preaching the Dharma at the sea assembly in the Sāgara Dragon Palace (the palace where the Dragon King of the Sea resides). Seeing that the various dragons were suffering greatly, he had compassion for them and wanted to liberate all sentient beings from suffering, so that they could all be free from suffering, without any resentment or harm.
At that time, the Dragon Girl offered a precious pearl, worth as much as the Sahā World (the world we live in). For the sake of seeking the Dharma, I will extensively explain how to escape from all kinds of suffering.
At that time, the Crystal Bodhisattva, in order to benefit and protect this mantra, spoke this mantra:
The Seventeenth Mantra of the Crystal Bodhisattva's Protection of the Thousand-Eyed Mudra
Vimale Mahavimale Ukkhale Mahaukkhale Shumale Mahashumale Sahale Tile Tishavaha
If there are good men or good women who, wherever they go, uphold this Dharma of the Thousand-Eyed and Thousand-Armed Bodhisattva.
我當常隨衛護。乃至諸魔眷屬無惱亂者。若人急難他國相侵盜賊逆亂。當用五色縷。結誦咒二十一遍。一咒一結繫於左臂。又以左手無名指中指頭指。把拳大母指甲上。展小母指。指所賊方誦咒七遍。悉皆退散不能為害。
爾時菩薩在雪山中說法。觀見夜叉羅剎國中人民。唯食眾生血肉無有善心。菩薩為欲利益方便教化。以神通力尋至彼國。現千眼千臂降伏魔身。設成就結姥陀羅尼印。
爾時羅剎國王。來至我所求哀頂禮。我以成就印印之。即得成無上道。
菩薩成就印第十八

菩薩成等正覺印第十九
結加趺坐。先以左手舒五指。仰掌在左膝上。次以右手舒五指。覆手捺右膝上。此與滅盡印法同。過去未來現在諸佛。皆同此印得佛菩提。此印能除一切業障。若坐禪諸法不現前者。當七日七夜于阿練若處。誦此陀羅尼並此印法。至心念佛晝夜六時懺悔

If someone encounters urgent difficulties, such as invasion from another country, disturbances by thieves, or rebellious uprisings, they should use five-colored threads, tying knots while reciting the mantra twenty-one times, one knot for each recitation, and tie it on the left arm. Also, use the ring finger, middle finger, and index finger of the left hand to make a fist, with the thumb pressing on the nail, extend the little finger, point it towards the direction of the thieves, and recite the mantra seven times. All of them will retreat and be unable to cause harm.
At that time, the Bodhisattva was teaching the Dharma in the Snow Mountains, observing that the people in the countries of Yakshas (Yaksa, a type of spirit) and Rakshasas (Rakshasa, a type of demon) only ate the blood and flesh of living beings and had no kind hearts. The Bodhisattva, in order to benefit them and conveniently teach them, used his supernatural powers to instantly arrive in that country, manifesting a form with a thousand eyes and a thousand arms, subduing the demonic bodies, and establishing the Accomplishment Knot Muladhara Dharani Mudra.
At that time, the Rakshasa King came to me, begging for mercy and prostrating in reverence. I stamped him with the Accomplishment Mudra, and he immediately attained the Unsurpassed Path.
Bodhisattva Accomplishment Mudra Number Eighteen
Stand up straight with feet together. Bring palms together at the heart. Interlock the little fingers, with the left pressing on the right. Recite the body mantra twenty-one times, and all kinds of wishes will be fulfilled. If you want to save sentient beings suffering in the six realms, you should use the Wheel Mudra, with the tips of the ten fingers touching each other, opening the wrists and palms, leaving a gap in the middle, so that the distance between each of the ten fingers is about an inch. This is the Bodhisattva circulating in the six realms, saving all kinds of suffering. By turning this mudra, all beings can be liberated from suffering. (This mudra method was translated by Bhatanarayana, who then returned to his country, and the translated original was eventually found by Zhitong, but he did not encounter him, and he obtained the Sanskrit version from a monk and translated it, and there is no other version outside).
Bodhisattva Enlightenment Mudra Number Nineteen
Sit in the lotus position. First, extend the five fingers of the left hand, with the palm facing upwards, on the left knee. Then, extend the five fingers of the right hand, with the back of the hand facing downwards, pressing on the right knee. This mudra is the same as the Extinction Mudra. All Buddhas of the past, future, and present attain Buddhahood with this mudra. This mudra can eliminate all karmic obstacles. If various phenomena do not appear during meditation, one should, for seven days and seven nights, in a quiet place, recite this dharani and perform this mudra, sincerely reciting the Buddha's name and repenting during the six periods of the day and night.
。即得諸法現前。及所得福無量無邊不可稱計。

Then, grasp the thumb of your left hand with your right hand, also as if making a fist, so that the thumb of your left hand protrudes from the tiger's mouth of your right hand. Move your right index finger back and forth while reciting the mantra:

This Dharani seal and mantra are inconceivable. If a virtuous man or virtuous woman recites this mantra one hundred and eight times when about to sleep, all their heart's desires will be known and seen in their dreams. If one can recite this mantra daily, one can also extinguish all sins and generate the Bodhi mind. The dreams of this person in the dark night will gradually increase and expand, and they will all be auspicious, even to the point of dreaming of the Tathagata receiving the prediction of enlightenment under the Bodhi tree, and even Shakra, Brahma, and other devas constantly coming to attend and protect them.
Bodhisattva's Seal for Summoning the Eight Divisions of Gods and Dragons, Ghosts and Spirits - Twenty-first
Stand up straight with feet together. First, bend the thumb of your left hand into the palm, make a fist with the four fingers, and place it against your heart. Then, do the same with your right hand. With your right hand near your right ear, move your index finger back and forth while reciting the mantra:
Namo Nigantuo(namo nigantuo)(one), Namo Alizhe Potuo(namo alizhe potuo)(two), Sa Po He(sa po he)(three), Namo Alizhe Luo Sa Po He(namo alizhe luo sa po he)(four), Xi Yi Xi Sa Po He(xi yi xi sa po he)(five).
If a virtuous man or virtuous woman receives, upholds, reads, and recites this mantra and seal, they will know their past lives for seven existences. Poisonous snakes will not dare to bite, poisons will naturally be eliminated, swords cannot harm, and kings cannot be angered. They will never suffer the pain of hell. If one recites this mantra, the twenty-eight divisions of ghosts and spirits will come to the side of the mantra reciter, sitting and listening to the recitation. Bodhisattva Liberation Mudra (hand gesture) Twenty-second
Sit in the lotus position (Padmasana). First, touch the tip of the middle finger of the left hand with the tip of the thumb, with the palm facing upwards. Extend the remaining three fingers naturally and place the hand on the left knee. Then, do the same with the right hand, with the back of the hand facing downwards, and place it on the right knee. Recite the body mantra twenty-one times, and all wishes will be fulfilled, and all suffering will be liberated.
If a good man or good woman has committed the ten evil deeds, the five rebellious acts, and other sins, as numerous as the dust particles on the earth of Jambudvipa (the world we live in). Each dust particle represents a kalpa (an extremely long period of time). This person has committed so many sins and should fall into hell, enduring suffering for countless kalpas, with no hope of escape. If this good man or good woman can, in front of a Sharira (relics of the Buddha or high monks after cremation) statue, on the fifteenth day of the white month (the first half of the lunar month), abstain from food for one day and one night, form the mudra and recite the mantra one hundred and eight times, then all the above sins will be eliminated. If they are not eliminated, it is impossible. (This mudra was not in the version obtained by Dharma Master Zhitong. Dharma Master Zhitong met a Brahmin monk in Yuanzhou who had this Sanskrit text. Dharma Master Zhitong collated it with him and discovered this mudra, which he obtained and practiced himself. The effect was very significant and incredible).
Bodhisattva Self-Mastery Divine Foot Mudra Twenty-third
Stand up. First, grasp the big toe of the left foot with the left hand as if making a fist. Then, grasp the back of the left wrist with the right hand. Recite the body mantra seven times. It will not be difficult to advance a thousand miles. Do not make any sound when reciting the mantra.
Bodhisattva Divine Transformation Self-Mastery Mudra Twenty-fourth
First, press the thumb of the left hand on the nail of the little finger. Then, do the same with the right hand. Extend the remaining three fingers separately, bring the wrists together, and place them on top of the head. Recite the body mantra twenty-one times, and all will attain **self-mastery (In the past, there was a monk named Jati from Kashmir who obtained this Sanskrit text in North India, but he did not translate it. He obtained it and practiced it himself, and its power was great, so he did not dare to spread it. Dharma Master Zhitong obtained this version from Bhaga, the younger brother of this monk, and practiced it according to the Dharma. The effect was significant, but it was not popular in the world.
