御製《大悲總持經咒》序

朕聞:

觀自在菩薩誓願,入微塵國土,拯拔一切有情,離諸苦趣,故說是無量功德總持經咒。

世間善男子、善女人、一切眾生,秉心至誠持誦,佩服此經咒者,種種惡趣,種種苦害,咸相遠離,鹹得圓融,超登妙道。

若此海波沾濡,下風吹觸,業釋障消,獲是勝果。非但耳之所聞,實目之所睹,明效大驗者也。

若智慧福德之士,根器深厚,堅持佩誦,勤行不輟,又能廣為演說,是經咒功德,不可思議。

若薄福不信者,亦心生信解,亦得同超佛境,真實不虛。

夫觀世音誓願弘深,發大悲心,以濟度群生。

朕君臨天下,閔眾情之昏瞀,墮五濁而不知,以此經咒,用是方便,覺悟提撕,俾一切庶類,皆超佛域。

又況如來化導,首重忠孝。凡忠臣孝子,能盡心以事君,竭力以事親,所作所為,無私智陂行,廣積陰功,濟人利物,又能持誦是經咒,則跬步之間,即見如來。

若彼不忠不孝,不知敬畏,則鬼神所錄,

朕聽聞:

觀自在菩薩(Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva)發下誓願,深入微塵般的國土,拯救拔除一切有情眾生,使他們脫離各種痛苦的境地,因此宣說了這部具有無量功德的總持經咒。

世間的善男子、善女人以及一切眾生,如果能以至誠之心持誦、佩戴這部經咒,各種惡趣、各種苦難都會遠離他們,都能得到圓滿融通,超越並登上微妙的道境。

如果此經咒的海波被沾濕,或者被下風吹拂觸及,那麼人的業障就會消解,獲得殊勝的果報。這不僅僅是耳朵聽聞到的,而是眼睛實際看到的,是明顯且具有重大驗證的。

如果是有智慧有福德的人,根器深厚,能夠堅持佩戴誦讀,勤奮修行不停止,又能廣泛地為人演說這部經咒的功德,那麼這種功德是不可思議的。

如果是福薄不相信的人,也能因此心生信仰和理解,也能同樣超越到佛的境界,這是真實不虛的。

觀世音菩薩(Avalokiteśvara)的誓願弘大深遠,發起大悲心,用來救濟度化眾生。

朕君臨天下,憐憫眾生心智昏昧,沉溺於五濁惡世而不知,因此用這部經咒,作為一種方便法門,覺悟並提攜他們,使一切百姓都能超越到佛的境界。

更何況如來的教化引導,首要重視忠孝。凡是忠臣孝子,能夠盡心侍奉君主,竭力孝敬父母,所作所為沒有私心邪行,廣積陰德,救濟他人,利益萬物,又能持誦這部經咒,那麼在很短的時間內,就能見到如來。

如果是不忠不孝,不知敬畏的人,那麼就會被鬼神記錄。

【English Translation】 English version Preface to the Great Compassion Dharani Sutra (Imperial Decree)

I have heard:

Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva (觀自在菩薩) made a vow to enter lands as numerous as dust particles, rescuing all sentient beings and liberating them from all suffering. Therefore, he proclaimed this Dharani Sutra, which possesses immeasurable merits.

If virtuous men, virtuous women, and all sentient beings in the world sincerely uphold and recite, and wear this Sutra and Dharani, all evil destinies and all sufferings will be far away from them. They will all attain perfect harmony, transcend, and ascend to the wonderful path.

If the waves of this Sutra are wetted, or touched by the breeze from below, one's karmic obstacles will be dissolved, and one will obtain supreme rewards. This is not only what is heard, but what is actually seen, a clear and greatly verified truth.

If one is wise and virtuous, with deep roots, able to persistently wear, recite, and diligently practice without ceasing, and also widely explain the merits of this Sutra and Dharani to others, then such merit is inconceivable.

If one has little merit and does not believe, but then develops faith and understanding, they can also transcend to the realm of the Buddha. This is true and not false.

Avalokiteśvara (觀世音菩薩)'s vows are vast and profound, arising from great compassion to save and liberate all beings.

I, ruling over the world, pity the people's darkened minds, sinking into the five turbidities without knowing. Therefore, I use this Sutra and Dharani as a skillful means to awaken and uplift them, so that all people can transcend to the realm of the Buddha.

Moreover, the Tathagata's (如來) teachings emphasize loyalty and filial piety. All loyal ministers and filial sons who can wholeheartedly serve their ruler and exert themselves to serve their parents, whose actions are without selfish intentions or deviant conduct, accumulate hidden merits, help others, and benefit all things, and who can also uphold and recite this Sutra and Dharani, will see the Tathagata in a very short time.

If one is disloyal and unfilial, without reverence, then they will be recorded by ghosts and spirits.


陰加譴罰,轉眄之間,即成地獄。

蓋善惡兩途,由人所趨,凡我眾庶,宜慎取捨,書此以為勸!

永樂九年六月  日

如是我聞:

一時,釋迦牟尼佛在補陀落迦山,觀世音宮殿,寶莊嚴道場中,坐寶師子座。其座純以無量雜摩尼寶,而用莊嚴,百寶幢幡,周匝懸列。爾時,如來於彼座上,將欲演說總持陀羅尼故。

與無央數菩薩摩訶薩俱,其名曰:總持王菩薩、寶王菩薩、藥王菩薩、藥上菩薩、觀世音菩薩、大勢至菩薩、華嚴菩薩、大莊嚴菩薩、寶藏菩薩、德藏菩薩、金剛藏菩薩、虛空藏菩薩、彌勒菩薩、普賢菩薩、文殊師利菩薩,如是等菩薩摩訶薩,皆是灌頂大法王子。

又與無量無數大聲聞僧,皆行阿羅漢十地,摩訶迦葉,而為上首。

又與無量梵摩羅天,善吒梵摩,而為上首。

又與無量欲界諸天子俱,瞿婆伽天子,而為上首。

又與無量護世四王俱,提頭賴吒,而為上首。

又與無量天、龍、夜叉、乾闥婆、阿修羅、迦樓羅、緊那羅、摩睺羅伽、人、非人等俱,天德大龍王,而為上首。

又與無量欲界諸天女俱,童目天女,而為上首。

我是這樣聽說的:

一時,釋迦牟尼佛(Sakyamuni Buddha)在補陀落迦山(Potalaka),觀世音(Avalokitesvara)宮殿,寶莊嚴道場中,坐在寶師子座上。那座位完全用無量各種摩尼寶裝飾,無數寶幢幡旗,環繞懸掛。當時,如來(Tathagata)在那座位上,將要演說總持陀羅尼的緣故。

又與無量無數的大聲聞僧在一起,他們都已證得阿羅漢十地果位,以摩訶迦葉(Mahakasyapa)為首。

又與無量的梵摩羅天在一起,以善吒梵摩為首。

又與無量欲界諸天子在一起,以瞿婆伽天子為首。

又與無量護世四王在一起,以提頭賴吒(Dhritarashtra)為首。

又與無量天、龍、夜叉(Yaksa)、乾闥婆(Gandharva)、阿修羅(Asura)、迦樓羅(Garuda)、緊那羅(Kinnara)、摩睺羅伽(Mahoraga)、人、非人等在一起,以天德大龍王為首。

又與無量欲界諸天女在一起,以童目天女為首。

【English Translation】 English version: Secretly adding punishments, in the blink of an eye, one falls into hell.

The two paths of good and evil are chosen by people themselves. All of us should carefully choose what to take and what to leave. Write these words as an exhortation!

Sixth month of the ninth year of Yongle

The Great Compassion Heart Dharani Sutra of the Thousand-Handed and Thousand-Eyed Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva

Translated by the Shramana Gavamdhama (Gavamdhama) from West India of the Tang Dynasty

Thus have I heard:

At one time, Sakyamuni Buddha (Sakyamuni Buddha) was in Potalaka (Potalaka) Mountain, in the palace of Avalokitesvara (Avalokitesvara), in the treasure-adorned Bodhimanda, sitting on a jeweled lion throne. The throne was entirely adorned with immeasurable various mani jewels, and countless jeweled banners and flags were suspended all around. At that time, the Tathagata (Tathagata) was on that throne, about to expound the Dharani of all-embracing retention.

Together with countless Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas, their names are: Sarvadharani-raja Bodhisattva (Sarvadharani-raja Bodhisattva), Ratna-raja Bodhisattva (Ratna-raja Bodhisattva), Bhaisajya-raja Bodhisattva (Bhaisajya-raja Bodhisattva), Bhaisajya-samudgata Bodhisattva (Bhaisajya-samudgata Bodhisattva), Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva (Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva), Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva (Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva), Avatamsaka Bodhisattva (Avatamsaka Bodhisattva), Mahavyuha Bodhisattva (Mahavyuha Bodhisattva), Ratnagarbha Bodhisattva (Ratnagarbha Bodhisattva), Gunagarbha Bodhisattva (Gunagarbha Bodhisattva), Vajragarbha Bodhisattva (Vajragarbha Bodhisattva), Akasagarbha Bodhisattva (Akasagarbha Bodhisattva), Maitreya Bodhisattva (Maitreya Bodhisattva), Samantabhadra Bodhisattva (Samantabhadra Bodhisattva), Manjusri Bodhisattva (Manjusri Bodhisattva), such Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas are all great Dharma princes who have received the crown-anointing.

Also with immeasurable and countless great Sravaka Sangha, all of whom have attained the ten stages of Arhatship, with Mahakasyapa (Mahakasyapa) as their leader.

Also with immeasurable Brahma Devas, with Shanta Brahma as their leader.

Also with immeasurable sons of the desire realm gods, with Kubhaka Deva as their leader.

Also with immeasurable Four Guardian Kings, with Dhritarashtra (Dhritarashtra) as their leader.

Also with immeasurable Devas, Nagas, Yakshas (Yaksa), Gandharvas (Gandharva), Asuras (Asura), Garudas (Garuda), Kinnaras (Kinnara), Mahoragas (Mahoraga), humans, non-humans, etc., with the Great Dragon King of Heavenly Virtue as their leader.

Also with immeasurable daughters of the desire realm gods, with the Maiden of Childlike Eyes as their leader.


又與無量虛空神、江海神、泉源神、河沼神、藥草神、樹林神、舍宅神、水神、火神、地神、風神、土神、山神、石神、宮殿等神,皆來集會。

時觀世音菩薩,于大會中密放神通,光明照曜,十方剎土及此三千大千世界,皆作金色。天宮、龍宮、諸尊神宮,皆悉震動;江河、大海、鐵圍山、須彌山、土山、黑山,亦皆大動。日、月、珠、火、星宿之光,皆悉不現。

於是總持王菩薩,見此希有之相,怪未曾有。即從座起,叉手合掌,以偈問佛,如此神通之相,是誰所放?以偈問曰:

「誰於今日成正覺?  普放如是大光明,  十方剎土皆金色,  三千世界亦復然。  誰於今日得自在?  演放希有大神力,  無邊佛國皆震動,  龍神宮殿悉不安。  今此大眾咸有疑,  不測因緣是誰力?  為佛菩薩大聲聞?  為梵魔天諸釋等?  唯愿世尊大慈悲,  說此神通所由以!」

佛告總持王菩薩言:

「善男子!汝等當知,今此會中,有一菩薩摩訶薩,名曰『觀世音自在』。從無量劫來,成就大慈大悲,善能修習無量陀羅尼門,為欲安樂諸眾生故,密放如是大神通力。」

佛說是語已。爾時,觀世音菩薩,從座而起,整理衣服,向佛合掌,白佛言:「世尊

【現代漢語翻譯】 現代漢語譯本 又有無量無數的虛空神、江海神、泉源神、河沼神、藥草神、樹林神、舍宅神、水神、火神、地神、風神、土神、山神、石神、宮殿等神,都來到法會。

這時,觀世音菩薩(Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva),在法會中秘密地施放神通,光明照耀,十方一切佛土以及這三千大千世界,都變成金色。天宮、龍宮、各位尊神所居住的宮殿,全都震動起來;江河、大海、鐵圍山(Cakravāḍa)、須彌山(Sumeru)、土山、黑山,也都大大地搖動。太陽、月亮、寶珠、火焰、星宿的光芒,全都消失不見。

於是,總持王菩薩(Dhāraṇīrāja Bodhisattva),見到這種罕見的神奇景象,覺得非常奇怪。立刻從座位上站起來,雙手合掌,用偈頌向佛陀請教,這種神通的景象,是誰所施放的?用偈頌問道:

『是誰在今天成就正覺?普遍施放如此巨大的光明, 十方一切佛土都變成金色,三千大千世界也是這樣。 是誰在今天得到自在?展現出罕見的大神通力量, 無邊無際的佛國全都震動,龍神宮殿全都感到不安。 現在這裡的大眾都感到疑惑,無法推測這因緣是誰的力量? 是佛、菩薩、大聲聞(Śrāvaka)?還是梵天(Brahmā)、魔天(Māra)、諸釋天(Śakra)等? 唯愿世尊您大慈大悲,解說這神通所產生的原因!』

佛陀告訴總持王菩薩說:

『善男子!你們應當知道,現在這個法會中,有一位菩薩摩訶薩(Bodhisattva-mahāsattva),名叫『觀世音自在』(Avalokiteśvara)。從無量劫以來,成就了大慈大悲,善於修習無量陀羅尼門(dhāraṇī),爲了使一切眾生得到安樂,秘密地施放如此巨大的神通力量。』

佛陀說完這些話后。這時,觀世音菩薩,從座位上站起來,整理好衣服,向佛陀合掌,對佛陀說:『世尊』

【English Translation】 English version Moreover, countless gods of the void, gods of rivers and seas, gods of springs and sources, gods of rivers and marshes, gods of herbs, gods of forests, gods of dwellings, gods of water, gods of fire, gods of earth, gods of wind, gods of soil, gods of mountains, gods of stones, gods of palaces, and so on, all came to the assembly.

At that time, Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva (觀世音菩薩), secretly emitted spiritual powers in the assembly, and the light illuminated all the Buddha lands in the ten directions and this three-thousand-great-thousand world, all turning golden. Heavenly palaces, dragon palaces, and the palaces of all the venerable gods all shook; rivers, seas, Mount Cakravāḍa (鐵圍山), Mount Sumeru (須彌山), earth mountains, and black mountains also greatly moved. The light of the sun, moon, pearls, fire, and stars all disappeared.

Then, Dhāraṇīrāja Bodhisattva (總持王菩薩), seeing this rare and wonderful phenomenon, was surprised as never before. He immediately rose from his seat, folded his hands in reverence, and asked the Buddha in verse, 'Whose spiritual power is this?' He asked in verse:

'Who today has attained perfect enlightenment? Universally emitting such great light, All Buddha lands in the ten directions are golden, And the three-thousand worlds are also the same. Who today has gained freedom? Displaying rare and great spiritual power, Boundless Buddha lands are all shaking, Dragon and god palaces are all uneasy. Now this assembly is full of doubts, Unable to fathom whose power is this? Is it the Buddha, Bodhisattva, or Śrāvaka (聲聞)? Or Brahmā (梵天), Māra (魔天), or Śakra (釋天) and others? May the World-Honored One, with great compassion, Explain the cause of this spiritual power!'

The Buddha told Dhāraṇīrāja Bodhisattva:

'Good man! You should know that in this assembly, there is a Bodhisattva-mahāsattva (菩薩摩訶薩) named 'Avalokiteśvara' (觀世音自在). From countless kalpas (劫) ago, he has perfected great compassion and is skilled in cultivating countless dhāraṇī (陀羅尼) doors. For the sake of bringing peace and happiness to all beings, he secretly emits such great spiritual power.'

After the Buddha spoke these words, Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva then rose from his seat, arranged his robes, and, with his palms together, said to the Buddha, 'World-Honored One.'


!我有大悲心陀羅尼咒,今當欲說。為諸眾生得安樂故,除一切病故,得壽命故,得富饒故,滅除一切惡業、重罪故,離障難故,增長一切白法諸功德故,成就一切諸善根故,遠離一切諸怖畏故,速能滿足一切諸希求故。惟愿世尊,慈哀聽許!」

佛言:「善男子!汝大慈悲,安樂眾生。欲說神咒,今正是時,宜應速說。如來隨喜,諸佛亦然。」

觀世音菩薩重白佛言:

「世尊!我念過去無量億劫,有佛出世,名曰『千光王靜住如來』。彼佛世尊憐念我故,及為一切諸眾生故,說此『廣大圓滿無礙大悲心陀羅尼』。以金色手摩我頂上作如是言:『善男子!汝當持此心咒,普為未來惡世一切眾生,作大利樂。』

「我於是時,始住初地,一聞此咒故,超第八地。我時心歡喜故,即發誓言:『若我當來,堪能利益、安樂一切眾生者,令我即時,身生千手、千眼具足。』

「發是愿已,應時身上,千手千眼,悉皆具足;十方大地,六種震動;十方千佛,悉放光明,照觸我身,及照十方,無邊世界。

「從是已后,復于無量佛所、無量會中,重更得聞,親承受持,是陀羅尼。復生歡喜,踴躍無量,便得超越無數億劫微細生死。從是已來,常所誦持,未曾廢忘,由持此咒故,所生之處,

【現代漢語翻譯】 現代漢語譯本:『我有大悲心陀羅尼咒(Mahākaruṇā-dhāraṇī mantra,偉大的慈悲心咒),現在想要宣說。爲了讓所有眾生得到安樂,爲了消除一切疾病,爲了得到壽命,爲了得到富饒,爲了滅除一切惡業、重罪,爲了遠離障礙和災難,爲了增長一切善良的法和功德,爲了成就一切善根,爲了遠離一切恐懼,爲了迅速滿足一切願望。只希望世尊,慈悲地聽許!』

佛說:『善男子!你大慈大悲,安樂眾生。想要宣說神咒,現在正是時候,應該快速宣說。如來隨喜讚歎,諸佛也是如此。』

觀世音菩薩(Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva)再次對佛說:

『世尊!我憶念過去無量億劫,有佛出世,名叫『千光王靜住如來(Thousand-Ray King Stillness Tathāgata)』。那位佛世尊憐憫我的緣故,以及爲了所有眾生的緣故,宣說了這『廣大圓滿無礙大悲心陀羅尼(Vast, Perfect, Unobstructed Great Compassion Dhāraṇī)』。用金色手摩我的頭頂,這樣說:『善男子!你應該受持這個心咒,普遍地為未來惡世的一切眾生,作大利益和安樂。』

『我于那時,才安住于初地(first bhūmi,菩薩修行的第一個階段),一聽到這個咒語的緣故,就超越了第八地(eighth bhūmi)。我當時心中歡喜的緣故,就發誓說:『如果我將來,能夠利益、安樂一切眾生,讓我立刻,身上生出千手、千眼具足。』

『發了這個誓願后,立刻身上,千手千眼,全部都具足了;十方大地,六種震動;十方千佛,全部都放出光明,照觸我的身體,以及照耀十方無邊世界。

『從那以後,又在無量佛所、無量法會中,再次聽到,親自接受和受持,這個陀羅尼。再次生起歡喜,踴躍無量,便得超越無數億劫微細生死。從那以來,常常誦持,未曾廢棄忘記,由於受持這個咒語的緣故,所出生的地方,』

【English Translation】 English version: 『I have the Mahākaruṇā-dhāraṇī mantra (Great Compassion Dhāraṇī), and now I wish to recite it. For the sake of all sentient beings attaining peace and happiness, for the sake of eliminating all illnesses, for the sake of gaining longevity, for the sake of gaining wealth and abundance, for the sake of eradicating all evil karma and grave offenses, for the sake of being free from obstacles and difficulties, for the sake of increasing all pure dharmas and merits, for the sake of accomplishing all good roots, for the sake of being far from all fears, for the sake of quickly fulfilling all wishes. I only hope that the World-Honored One will compassionately listen and permit!』

The Buddha said, 『Good man! You are greatly compassionate, bringing peace and happiness to sentient beings. If you wish to recite this divine mantra, now is the right time, you should recite it quickly. The Tathāgata rejoices in your merit, and so do all the Buddhas.』

Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva said to the Buddha again:

『World-Honored One! I recall in the past, countless eons ago, there was a Buddha who appeared in the world, named 『Thousand-Ray King Stillness Tathāgata』. That Buddha, the World-Honored One, out of compassion for me, and for the sake of all sentient beings, spoke this 『Vast, Perfect, Unobstructed Great Compassion Dhāraṇī』. With his golden hand, he stroked the top of my head and said, 『Good man! You should uphold this heart-mantra, and universally for all sentient beings in the evil age of the future, bring great benefit and happiness.』

『At that time, I had just attained the first bhūmi (stage of bodhisattva practice), and because I heard this mantra once, I transcended to the eighth bhūmi. At that time, because my heart was filled with joy, I made a vow, saying, 『If in the future, I am capable of benefiting and bringing peace and happiness to all sentient beings, may I immediately have a thousand hands and a thousand eyes fully manifest on my body.』

『After making this vow, instantly on my body, a thousand hands and a thousand eyes were all fully manifested; the great earth in the ten directions shook in six ways; a thousand Buddhas in the ten directions all emitted light, illuminating my body, and illuminating the boundless worlds in the ten directions.

『From then on, again in countless Buddha-lands and countless assemblies, I repeatedly heard, personally received, and upheld this dhāraṇī. Again, I generated joy, leaping with immeasurable delight, and then transcended countless billions of kalpas of subtle births and deaths. Since then, I have constantly recited and upheld it, never abandoning or forgetting it. Because of upholding this mantra, in every place I am born,』


恒在佛前,蓮華化生,不受胎藏之身。

「若有比丘、比丘尼、優婆塞、優婆夷、童男、童女,欲誦持者,于諸眾生,起慈悲心,先當從我,發如是愿:

「『南無大悲觀世音!  愿我速知一切法。   南無大悲觀世音!  愿我早得智慧眼。   南無大悲觀世音!  愿我速度一切眾。   南無大悲觀世音!  愿我早得善方便。   南無大悲觀世音!  愿我速乘般若船。   南無大悲觀世音!  愿我早得越苦海。   南無大悲觀世音!  愿我速得戒定道。   南無大悲觀世音!  愿我早登涅槃山。   南無大悲觀世音!  愿我速會無為舍。   南無大悲觀世音!  愿我早同法性身。

「『我若向刀山,  刀山自摧折。   我若向火湯,  火湯自消滅。   我若向地獄,  地獄自枯竭。   我若向餓鬼,  餓鬼自飽滿。   我若向修羅,  噁心自調伏。   我若向畜生,  自得大智慧。』

「發是愿已,至心稱念,我之名字,亦應專念,我本師阿彌陀如來,然後即當誦此陀羅尼神咒。一宿誦滿五遍,除滅身中,百千萬億劫生死重罪。」

觀世音菩薩復白佛言:「世尊!若諸人天,誦持大悲章句者,臨命終時,十方諸佛,皆來授手。

『如果有比丘(bhiksu,男性出家眾)、比丘尼(bhiksuni,女性出家眾)、優婆塞(upasaka,在家男居士)、優婆夷(upasika,在家女居士)、童男、童女,想要誦讀受持此咒,應當對一切眾生,生起慈悲之心,首先跟隨我,發出這樣的願望:

『南無大悲觀世音(Namo Mahakaruna Avalokitesvara,皈依大悲觀世音菩薩)!愿我迅速通達一切法。 南無大悲觀世音(Namo Mahakaruna Avalokitesvara,皈依大悲觀世音菩薩)!愿我早日獲得智慧之眼。 南無大悲觀世音(Namo Mahakaruna Avalokitesvara,皈依大悲觀世音菩薩)!愿我迅速度脫一切眾生。 南無大悲觀世音(Namo Mahakaruna Avalokitesvara,皈依大悲觀世音菩薩)!愿我早日獲得善巧方便。 南無大悲觀世音(Namo Mahakaruna Avalokitesvara,皈依大悲觀世音菩薩)!愿我迅速乘坐般若(prajna,智慧)之船。 南無大悲觀世音(Namo Mahakaruna Avalokitesvara,皈依大悲觀世音菩薩)!愿我早日超越痛苦之海。 南無大悲觀世音(Namo Mahakaruna Avalokitesvara,皈依大悲觀世音菩薩)!愿我迅速證得戒定之道。 南無大悲觀世音(Namo Mahakaruna Avalokitesvara,皈依大悲觀世音菩薩)!愿我早日登上涅槃(nirvana,寂滅)之山。 南無大悲觀世音(Namo Mahakaruna Avalokitesvara,皈依大悲觀世音菩薩)!愿我迅速會歸無為之舍。 南無大悲觀世音(Namo Mahakaruna Avalokitesvara,皈依大悲觀世音菩薩)!愿我早日等同法性之身。

『我如果走向刀山,刀山自然摧毀斷折。 我如果走向火湯,火湯自然消散滅盡。 我如果走向地獄,地獄自然乾涸枯竭。 我如果走向餓鬼,餓鬼自然飽足充滿。 我如果走向修羅(asura,阿修羅,一種善戰好鬥的神),噁心自然調伏。 我如果走向畜生,自然獲得大智慧。』

『發了這些愿之後,至誠懇切地稱念我的名字,也應當專心憶念我的本師阿彌陀如來(Amitabha Tathagata),然後就可以誦持這陀羅尼(dharani,總持)神咒。一個晚上誦滿五遍,就能消除身中百千萬億劫的生死重罪。』

觀世音菩薩(Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva)又稟告佛說:『世尊!如果各位人天,誦持大悲咒的章句,臨命終時,十方諸佛,都會前來伸出援手。

【English Translation】 English version They are constantly before the Buddha, born from lotus flowers, and do not undergo the process of being in a womb.

『If there are bhiksus (monks), bhiksunis (nuns), upasakas (lay male devotees), upasikas (lay female devotees), young men, or young women who wish to recite and uphold this mantra, they should first generate a compassionate heart towards all beings and then make the following vows with me:

『Namo Mahakaruna Avalokitesvara (Homage to the Great Compassionate Avalokitesvara)! May I quickly understand all dharmas. Namo Mahakaruna Avalokitesvara (Homage to the Great Compassionate Avalokitesvara)! May I quickly obtain the eye of wisdom. Namo Mahakaruna Avalokitesvara (Homage to the Great Compassionate Avalokitesvara)! May I quickly liberate all beings. Namo Mahakaruna Avalokitesvara (Homage to the Great Compassionate Avalokitesvara)! May I quickly obtain skillful means. Namo Mahakaruna Avalokitesvara (Homage to the Great Compassionate Avalokitesvara)! May I quickly ride the boat of prajna (wisdom). Namo Mahakaruna Avalokitesvara (Homage to the Great Compassionate Avalokitesvara)! May I quickly cross the sea of suffering. Namo Mahakaruna Avalokitesvara (Homage to the Great Compassionate Avalokitesvara)! May I quickly attain the path of precepts and samadhi. Namo Mahakaruna Avalokitesvara (Homage to the Great Compassionate Avalokitesvara)! May I quickly ascend Mount Nirvana (liberation). Namo Mahakaruna Avalokitesvara (Homage to the Great Compassionate Avalokitesvara)! May I quickly unite with the abode of non-action. Namo Mahakaruna Avalokitesvara (Homage to the Great Compassionate Avalokitesvara)! May I quickly become the same as the Dharma-nature body.

『If I go towards a mountain of knives, the mountain of knives will naturally be broken and shattered. If I go towards boiling water, the boiling water will naturally dissipate and vanish. If I go towards hell, hell will naturally dry up and wither away. If I go towards hungry ghosts, the hungry ghosts will naturally be full and satisfied. If I go towards asuras (fighting spirits), their evil minds will naturally be subdued. If I go towards animals, they will naturally obtain great wisdom.』

『After making these vows, sincerely and earnestly recite my name, and also single-mindedly remember my original teacher, Amitabha Tathagata, and then you may recite this dharani (mantra) of spiritual power. Reciting it five times in one night will eradicate the heavy sins of birth and death for hundreds of thousands of millions of kalpas.』

Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva further said to the Buddha, 『World Honored One! If all humans and devas recite and uphold the phrases of the Great Compassion Mantra, when they are about to die, all the Buddhas of the ten directions will come and extend their hands to them.


欲生何等佛土,隨愿皆得往生。」

復白佛言:「世尊!若諸眾生,誦持大悲神咒,墮三惡道者,我誓不成正覺。

「誦持大悲神咒者,若不生諸佛國者,我誓不成正覺。

「誦持大悲神咒者,若不得無量三昧辯才者,我誓不成正覺。

「誦持大悲神咒者,于現在生中一切所求,若不果遂者,不得為大悲心陀羅尼也。唯除不善,除不至誠。

「若諸女人,厭賤女身,欲成男子身,誦持大悲陀羅尼章句。若不轉女身成男子身者,我誓不成正覺。生少疑心者,必不果遂也。

「若諸眾生,侵損常住、飲食、財物,千佛出世,不通懺悔,縱懺亦不除滅。今誦大悲神咒,即得除滅。若侵損食用,常住飲食、財物,要對十方師懺謝,然始除滅。今誦大悲陀羅尼時,十方師即來,為作證明,一切罪障,悉皆消滅。一切十惡、五逆、謗人、謗法、破齋、破戒、破塔、壞寺、偷僧祇物、污凈梵行,如是等一切惡業、重罪,悉皆滅盡。唯除一事,于咒生疑者,乃至小罪輕業,亦不得滅,何況重罪?雖不即滅重罪,猶能遠作菩提之因。」

復白佛言:

「世尊!若諸人天,誦持大悲心咒者,得十五種善生,不受十五種惡死也。其惡死者:一者,不令其飢餓困苦死。二者,不為枷禁杖楚死

又稟告佛說:『世尊!如果眾生誦持大悲神咒,卻墮入三惡道(地獄、餓鬼、畜生),我誓不成正覺(證悟成佛)。』

『誦持大悲神咒的人,如果不能往生到諸佛國土,我誓不成正覺。』

『誦持大悲神咒的人,如果不能得到無量的三昧(專注)和辯才(善於說法),我誓不成正覺。』

『誦持大悲神咒的人,在今生所求的一切,如果不能實現,就不能稱為大悲心陀羅尼(偉大的慈悲心咒)。除非是不善的行為,除非是不至誠的心。』

『如果有些女人,厭惡自己的女身,想要轉成男子身,誦持大悲陀羅尼的章句。如果不能轉女身成男子身,我誓不成正覺。如果心生少許懷疑,必定不能如願。』

『如果有些眾生,侵損常住(寺院)的飲食、財物,即使千佛出世,也無法懺悔,即使懺悔也不能消除罪業。現在誦持大悲神咒,就能立即消除罪業。如果侵損食用常住的飲食、財物,必須向十方師(十方一切諸佛菩薩)懺謝,然後才能消除罪業。現在誦持大悲陀羅尼時,十方師就會前來,為作證明,一切罪障,全部消滅。一切十惡(十種惡業)、五逆(五種重罪)、誹謗他人、誹謗佛法、破齋(不守齋戒)、破戒(違犯戒律)、破壞佛塔、毀壞寺廟、偷盜僧眾的財物、玷污清凈的梵行(清凈的行為),像這樣的一切惡業、重罪,全部滅盡。只有一種情況除外,就是對咒語產生懷疑的人,即使是小的罪業,也不能消滅,更何況是重罪?雖然不能立即消滅重罪,但仍然能長遠地種下菩提(覺悟)的因。』

又稟告佛說:

『世尊!如果有人天,誦持大悲心咒,能得到十五種善生,不受十五種惡死。那些惡死是:第一,不讓他飢餓困苦而死。第二,不因為枷鎖刑杖而死。

【English Translation】 English version: 'Wishing to be born in any Buddha land, all can be reborn there according to their wishes.'

Then he further said to the Buddha: 'World Honored One! If sentient beings who recite and uphold the Great Compassion Dharani fall into the three evil paths (hell, hungry ghosts, animals), I vow not to attain Right Enlightenment (complete Buddhahood).'

'Those who recite and uphold the Great Compassion Dharani, if they are not born in the lands of all Buddhas, I vow not to attain Right Enlightenment.'

'Those who recite and uphold the Great Compassion Dharani, if they do not obtain limitless samadhi (concentration) and eloquence (skill in expounding the Dharma), I vow not to attain Right Enlightenment.'

'Those who recite and uphold the Great Compassion Dharani, if all their requests in this present life are not fulfilled, then this cannot be called the Great Compassionate Heart Dharani. Except for unwholesome deeds, except for lack of sincerity.'

'If women, disgusted with their female bodies, wish to become male, and recite and uphold the phrases and sentences of the Great Compassion Dharani, if they do not transform from female to male, I vow not to attain Right Enlightenment. If they harbor even a little doubt, they will certainly not succeed.'

'If sentient beings encroach upon or damage the permanent dwelling's (monastery's) food, drink, and property, even if a thousand Buddhas appear in the world, repentance will not be possible, and even if they repent, the offense will not be eradicated. Now, by reciting the Great Compassion Dharani, it can be immediately eradicated. If they encroach upon or use the permanent dwelling's food, drink, and property, they must confess and apologize to the teachers of the ten directions (all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in the ten directions), and then the offense can be eradicated. Now, when reciting the Great Compassion Dharani, the teachers of the ten directions will come to bear witness, and all karmic obstacles will be eliminated. All the ten evil deeds (ten unwholesome actions), the five rebellious acts (five heinous crimes), slandering others, slandering the Dharma, breaking the fast (not observing the precepts), breaking the precepts (violating the moral code), destroying pagodas, ruining temples, stealing the Sangha's property, defiling pure conduct, all such evil deeds and heavy offenses will be completely extinguished. Only one thing is excepted: those who doubt the mantra, even small offenses and light karma cannot be extinguished, how much less heavy offenses? Although heavy offenses cannot be immediately extinguished, it can still plant the cause for Bodhi (enlightenment) in the distant future.'

Then he further said to the Buddha:

'World Honored One! If humans and devas (heavenly beings) recite and uphold the Great Compassionate Heart Dharani, they will obtain fifteen kinds of good births and will not suffer fifteen kinds of bad deaths. The bad deaths are: First, they will not die from hunger and deprivation. Second, they will not die from being imprisoned or beaten with sticks.


。三者,不為怨家仇對死。四者,不為軍陣相殺死。五者,不為豺狼惡獸殘害死。六者,不為毒蛇蚖蝎所中死。七者,不為水火焚漂死。八者,不為毒藥所中死。九者,不為蠱毒害死。十者,不為狂亂失念死。十一者,不為山樹崖岸墜落死。十二者,不為惡人厭魅死。十三者,不為邪神惡鬼得便死。十四者,不為惡病纏身死。十五者,不為非分自害死。誦持大悲神咒者,不被如是十五種惡死也。

「得十五種善生者:一者,所生之處,常逢善王。二者,常生善國。三者,常值好時。四者,常逢善友。五者,身根常得具足。六者,道心純熟。七者,不犯禁戒。八者,所有眷屬,恩義和順。九者,資具財食,常得豐足。十者,恒得他人,恭敬扶接。十一者,所有財寶,無他劫奪。十二者,意欲所求,皆悉稱遂。十三者,龍天善神,恒常擁衛。十四者,所生之處,見佛聞法。十五者,所聞正法,悟甚深義。若有誦持大悲心陀羅尼者,得如是等十五種善生也。一切天、人應常誦持,勿生懈怠。」

觀世音菩薩說是語已,于眾會前,合掌正住,于諸眾生,起大悲心,開顏含笑,即說如是「廣大圓滿無礙大悲心大陀羅尼神妙章句陀羅尼」曰:

「南無喝啰怛那哆啰夜㖿(一) 南無阿唎㖿(二) 婆盧羯帝爍缽

『獲得十五種善生:第一種,所出生的地方,常常遇到賢明的君王。第二種,常常出生在善良的國家。第三種,常常遇到好的時節。第四種,常常遇到善良的朋友。第五種,身體的各個器官常常能夠完好無缺。第六種,修道的決心純正成熟。第七種,不違犯禁戒。第八種,所有的眷屬,恩愛和睦。第九種,生活所需的資財食物,常常能夠豐足。第十種,經常得到他人的恭敬扶持。第十一種,所有的財寶,不會被他人搶奪。第十二種,心中想要追求的,都能夠如願以償。第十三種,龍天善神,恒常擁護衛護。第十四種,所出生的地方,能夠見到佛,聽聞佛法。第十五種,所聽聞的正法,能夠領悟到甚深的義理。如果有人誦持大悲心陀羅尼(Great Compassion Heart Dharani)的人,能夠得到像這樣的十五種善生。一切天人,應該經常誦持,不要懈怠。』

觀世音菩薩(Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva)說完這些話后,在大眾集會面前,合掌端正站立,對於一切眾生,生起大慈悲心,面露笑容,於是宣說了這樣的『廣大圓滿無礙大悲心大陀羅尼神妙章句陀羅尼』:

『南無喝啰怛那哆啰夜㖿(Namo Ratna Trayaya)(皈依三寶),南無阿唎㖿(Namo Arya)(皈依聖者),婆盧羯帝爍缽(Lokiteśvaraya Bodhisattvaya)(觀世音菩薩)……』

【English Translation】 English version: 'Third, one will not die at the hands of enemies and adversaries. Fourth, one will not die in battle. Fifth, one will not be harmed to death by jackals, wolves, or vicious beasts. Sixth, one will not die from the venom of poisonous snakes, vipers, or scorpions. Seventh, one will not die from being burned or drowned by floods or fires. Eighth, one will not die from being poisoned. Ninth, one will not die from being harmed by蠱毒 (gǔ dú, a type of venomous sorcery). Tenth, one will not die from madness or loss of reason. Eleventh, one will not die from falling from mountains, trees, cliffs, or banks. Twelfth, one will not die from being bewitched by evil people. Thirteenth, one will not die because evil spirits and demons take advantage. Fourteenth, one will not die from being afflicted by terrible illnesses. Fifteenth, one will not die from suicide. Those who recite and uphold the Great Compassion Mantra will not suffer these fifteen kinds of evil deaths.'

'One obtains fifteen kinds of good rebirths: First, in the place of birth, one always encounters virtuous kings. Second, one is always born in virtuous countries. Third, one always encounters good times. Fourth, one always encounters good friends. Fifth, one's physical faculties are always complete. Sixth, one's resolve for the Path is pure and mature. Seventh, one does not violate precepts. Eighth, all one's family members are kind, righteous, and harmonious. Ninth, one's resources, wealth, and food are always abundant. Tenth, one always receives the respectful support of others. Eleventh, one's treasures are never robbed by others. Twelfth, all one's desires are fulfilled. Thirteenth, dragons, gods, and virtuous spirits constantly protect and guard one. Fourteenth, in the place of birth, one sees the Buddha and hears the Dharma. Fifteenth, from the Dharma one hears, one awakens to profound meanings. If there are those who recite and uphold the Great Compassion Heart Dharani, they will obtain these fifteen kinds of good rebirths. All gods and humans should constantly recite and uphold it, and not be lazy.'

After Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva spoke these words, in the assembly, he joined his palms together, stood upright, and with great compassion for all beings, opened his face in a smile, and then spoke the 'Vast, Great, Perfect, Unobstructed Great Compassionate Heart Great Dharani, the miraculous chapter and verse Dharani':

'Namo Ratna Trayaya (Homage to the Triple Gem), Namo Arya (Homage to the Noble One), Lokiteśvaraya Bodhisattvaya (Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva)...'

觀世音菩薩說此咒已。大地六變震動,天雨寶華,繽紛而下。十方諸佛悉皆歡喜,天魔外道恐怖毛豎,一切眾會皆獲果證。或得須陀洹果,或得斯陀含果,或得阿那含果,或得阿羅漢果者,或得一地、二地、三地、四地、五地,乃至十地者。無量眾生髮菩提心。

爾時,大梵天王,從座而起,整理衣服,合掌恭敬,白觀世音菩薩言:

觀世音菩薩(Avalokiteśvara)說完此咒語后,大地發生六種震動,天空降下珍貴的寶華,繽紛散落。十方諸佛都感到歡喜,天上的魔和外道感到恐懼,毛髮豎立,所有在場的眾人都獲得了果位的證悟。有人證得須陀洹果(Srotaapanna,入流果),有人證得斯陀含果(Sakrdagamin,一來果),有人證得阿那含果(Anagamin,不還果),有人證得阿羅漢果(Arhat,無學果),有人證得一地、二地、三地、四地、五地,乃至十地。無數的眾生髮起了菩提心。

After Avalokiteśvara (觀世音菩薩) finished reciting this mantra, the earth shook in six different ways, and precious jeweled flowers rained down from the sky in a colorful array. All the Buddhas in the ten directions rejoiced, the heavenly demons and heretics were terrified and their hair stood on end, and all those present attained the fruit of enlightenment. Some attained the Srotaapanna (須陀洹果, Stream-enterer) fruit, some attained the Sakrdagamin (斯陀含果, Once-returner) fruit, some attained the Anagamin (阿那含果, Non-returner) fruit, and some attained the Arhat (阿羅漢果, Worthy One) fruit. Some attained the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth Bhumis (地, grounds), up to the tenth Bhumi. Countless beings awakened the Bodhi mind (菩提心).

At that time, Mahabrahma (大梵天王), the Great Brahma King, rose from his seat, arranged his robes, joined his palms in reverence, and said to Avalokiteśvara (觀世音菩薩):


「善哉!大士!我從昔來,經無量佛會,聞種種法、種種陀羅尼,未曾聞說,如此無礙大悲心、大悲陀羅尼神妙章句。唯愿大士,為我說此陀羅尼形貌狀相,我等大眾,愿樂欲聞!」

觀世音菩薩告梵王言:「汝為方便利益一切眾生故,作如是問。汝今善聽,吾為汝等,略說少耳!」

觀世音菩薩言:「大慈悲心是,平等心是,無為心是,無染著心是,空觀心是,恭敬心是,卑下心是,無雜亂心,無見取心是,無上菩提心是。當知如是等心,即是陀羅尼相貌。汝當依此而修行之。」

大梵王言:「我等大眾,今始識此陀羅尼相貌。從今受持,不敢忘失。」

觀世音言:

「若善男子、善女人,誦持此神咒者,發廣大菩提心,誓度一切眾生。身持齋戒,于諸眾生,起平等心。常誦此咒,莫令斷絕。住于凈室,澡浴清凈,著凈衣服。懸幡、然燈、香華、百味飲食,以用供養。制心一處,更莫異緣,如法誦持。

「是時當有,日光菩薩、月光菩薩與無量神仙,來為作證,益其效驗。我時當以千眼照見,千手護持。從是以往,所有世間經書,悉能受持;一切外道法術、韋陀典籍,亦能通達。誦持此神咒者,世間八萬四千種病,悉皆治之,無不差者。亦能使令一切鬼神,降諸天魔,制諸外

觀世音菩薩說:

『如果善男子、善女人,誦持此神咒的人,發起廣大的菩提心,發誓要度一切眾生。自身持守齋戒,對於一切眾生,生起平等心。經常誦持此咒,不要讓它中斷。住在清凈的房間里,沐浴使身體清凈,穿乾淨的衣服。懸掛幡旗、點燃燈火、準備香和鮮花、各種美味的飲食,用來供養。使心專注於一處,不要再有其他的念頭,如法地誦持。

From the past until now, I have attended countless Buddha assemblies, and heard all kinds of Dharma, all kinds of Dharani (mantras), but I have never heard of such unimpeded great compassionate heart, such miraculous verses of the great compassion Dharani (mantra). I wish that the Great Being (a respectful term for Bodhisattva) would explain to us the form and appearance of this Dharani (mantra), we, the great assembly, are very willing to hear!』

Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva told Great Brahma King: 『You ask this question for the sake of conveniently benefiting all sentient beings. Now listen carefully, I will briefly tell you a little!』

Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva said: 『The great compassionate heart is, the equal heart is, the non-action heart is, the non-attachment heart is, the emptiness-observing heart is, the respectful heart is, the humble heart is, the non-chaotic heart is, the non-grasping heart is, the supreme Bodhi heart is. You should know that these hearts are the appearance of the Dharani (mantra). You should practice according to these.』

Great Brahma King said: 『We, the great assembly, now recognize the appearance of this Dharani (mantra). From now on, we will uphold it and dare not forget it.』

Avalokiteshvara said:

『If good men and good women, who recite and uphold this divine mantra, generate a vast Bodhi heart and vow to liberate all sentient beings. They should observe precepts and practice abstinence, and towards all sentient beings, generate an equal heart. Constantly recite this mantra, do not let it be interrupted. Reside in a clean room, bathe and purify the body, and wear clean clothes. Hang banners, light lamps, prepare incense and flowers, and various delicious foods, to make offerings. Focus the mind in one place, do not have other thoughts, and recite and uphold it according to the Dharma.

『At that time, there will be Sunlight Bodhisattva, Moonlight Bodhisattva, and countless immortals, coming to testify for him, increasing its effectiveness. At that time, I will illuminate with a thousand eyes and protect with a thousand hands. From then on, all worldly scriptures can be upheld; all heretical magic arts and Vedic (ancient Indian scriptures) texts can also be understood. Those who recite and uphold this divine mantra can cure all eighty-four thousand kinds of diseases in the world, without fail. They can also command all ghosts and spirits, subdue all heavenly demons, and control all heretics.』


道。若在山野,誦經坐禪,有諸山精、雜魅、魍魎、鬼神,橫相惱亂,心不安定者,誦此咒一遍,是諸鬼神,悉皆被縛也。

「是諸善神及神龍王、神母女等,各有五百眷屬,大力夜叉,常隨擁護,誦持大悲神咒者。其人若在空山、曠野,獨宿孤眠,是諸善神,番代宿衛,辟除災障。若在深山,迷失道路,誦此咒故,善神龍王,化作善人,示其正道。若在山林、曠野,乏少水火,龍王護故,化出水火。」

觀世音菩薩復為誦持者,說消除災禍,清涼之偈:

『這些善神以及神龍王、神母女等,各自有五百眷屬,大力夜叉(捷疾鬼),常常跟隨擁護,誦持大悲神咒的人。如果這人在空山、曠野,獨自住宿睡眠,這些善神,輪流更替宿衛,避除災禍障礙。如果在深山,迷失道路,誦此咒的緣故,善神龍王,化作好人,指示他正確的道路。如果在山林、曠野,缺少水火,龍王護佑的緣故,化出水火。』

觀世音菩薩又為誦持者,說消除災禍,清涼的偈頌:

『如果行走在曠野山澤中,遭遇老虎、狼等各種兇惡的野獸,蛇、蚖(大蛇)、精魅、魍魎鬼,聽到誦此咒都不能加害。 如果行走在江湖滄海之間,毒龍、蛟龍、摩竭獸(大魚),夜叉、羅剎(惡鬼)、魚、黿(大鱉)、鱉,聽到誦此咒都各自藏匿隱蔽。 如果遇到軍隊陣列賊寇圍繞,或者被惡人搶奪財寶,至誠稱念誦持大悲咒,他們會生起慈悲心,歸還財物。 如果因為王法官司被拘捕,在牢獄中被囚禁,戴著刑具枷鎖,至誠稱念誦持大悲咒,官府自然開恩釋放。 如果進入有蠱毒的人家,飲食中有毒藥想要加害,至誠稱念誦持大悲咒,毒藥會變成甘露漿。 女人面臨生產的危難時刻,有邪魔遮障,痛苦難以忍受,至誠稱念誦持大悲咒,鬼神退散,平安快樂生產。 惡龍疫鬼散佈毒氣,熱病侵襲,生命將要終結,至心稱念誦持大悲咒,疫病消除,壽命延長。 龍鬼流行各種毒腫,

【English Translation】 English version Rakshasa Gandharva (celestial musician), Garuda Kinnara (mythical bird-like creature) Mahoraga (great serpent deity), should always protect those who uphold and recite this mantra. I send water deities, fire deities, thunder deities, lightning deities, Kumbhanda kings (pot-shaped demons), and Pisacha (flesh-eating demons), should always protect those who uphold and recite this mantra.

'These virtuous deities, dragon kings, and dragon mothers, each with five hundred attendants, mighty Yakshas (swift demons), constantly follow and protect those who recite the Great Compassion Mantra. If these people are in empty mountains or wilderness, sleeping alone, these virtuous deities will take turns guarding them, warding off disasters and obstacles. If they are lost in the deep mountains, by reciting this mantra, the virtuous dragon kings will transform into kind people and show them the right path. If they are in forests or wilderness, lacking water and fire, the dragon kings will protect them and conjure water and fire.'

Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva then spoke a verse of coolness to eliminate disasters for those who recite:

'If you walk in the wilderness of mountains and marshes, and encounter tigers, wolves, and other ferocious beasts, snakes, large serpents, goblins, and monstrous spirits, hearing this mantra, they will not be able to harm you. If you walk in rivers, lakes, and the vast sea, poisonous dragons, Jiaolong (aquatic dragons), Makara beasts (sea monsters), Yakshas, Rakshasas (evil spirits), fish, turtles, and soft-shelled turtles, hearing this mantra, they will all hide themselves. If you encounter armies and bandits surrounding you, or if your wealth is stolen by evil people, sincerely recite the Great Compassion Mantra, they will develop compassion and return your belongings. If you are arrested by royal officials, imprisoned in jail, and bound by shackles and chains, sincerely recite the Great Compassion Mantra, the officials will show mercy and release you. If you enter the home of someone who uses poison, and there is poison in the food intending to harm you, sincerely recite the Great Compassion Mantra, the poison will turn into nectar. When a woman faces the difficulty of childbirth, and evil spirits obstruct her, causing unbearable pain, sincerely recite the Great Compassion Mantra, the ghosts and spirits will retreat, and she will give birth peacefully and happily. If evil dragons and epidemic ghosts spread poisonous air, and hot diseases invade, threatening to end life, sincerely recite the Great Compassion Mantra, the epidemic diseases will be eliminated, and life will be prolonged. 爾時,觀世音菩薩,告梵天言:

「誦此咒五遍,取五色線作索,咒二十一遍,結作二十一結,系項。

「此陀羅尼,是過去九十九億恒河沙諸佛所說。彼等諸佛,為諸行人,修行六度,未滿足者,速令滿足故;未發菩提心者,速令發心故。若聲聞人,未證果者,速令證故。

「若三千大千世界內,諸神仙人,未發無上菩提心者,令速發心故。若諸眾生,未得大乘信根者,以此陀羅尼威神力故,令其大乘種子,法芽增長。以我方便慈悲力故,令其所須,皆得成辦。

「若三千大千世界,幽隱闇處,三塗眾生,聞我此咒,皆得離苦。有諸菩薩,未階初住者,速令得故,乃至令得十住地故。又令得到佛地故,自然成就三十二相、八十隨形好。

「若聲聞人,聞此陀羅尼,一經耳者,修行、書寫此陀羅尼者,以質直心,如法而住者,四沙門果,不

'此陀羅尼(dharani),是過去九十九億恒河沙數諸佛所說的。那些諸佛,爲了讓修行六度(paramitas),尚未圓滿的修行人,迅速得到圓滿;爲了讓尚未發起菩提心(bodhicitta)的人,迅速發起菩提心。如果聲聞乘(Śrāvakayāna)的人,尚未證得果位,迅速令其證得果位。

【English Translation】 English version: 'The pain from ulcers, sores, pus, and blood is unbearable, If one recites the Great Compassion Mantra (Maha Karuna Dharani) with utmost sincerity, The poisonous swelling will disappear with three spits. When sentient beings in a turbid and evil age give rise to unwholesome deeds, And suffer from bewitchment, curses, and the formation of grudges, If one recites the Great Compassion Mantra with utmost sincerity, The harm of bewitchment will revert to the perpetrator. In an age when evil arises, the world is in chaos, and the Dharma is about to perish, When lust is rampant and the mind is confused and inverted, Abandoning one's spouse and greedily clinging to external defilements, With unwholesome thoughts arising day and night without ceasing, If one can recite the Great Compassion Mantra, Lust will cease and unwholesome thoughts will be eliminated. If I were to extensively praise the power of this mantra, An eon of praise would not be enough to exhaust its merits.'

At that time, Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva, told Brahmā:

'Recite this mantra five times, take five-colored threads to make a rope, chant the mantra twenty-one times, tie twenty-one knots, and wear it around the neck.

'This dharani is spoken by the past ninety-nine billion Ganges sands of Buddhas. Those Buddhas, for the sake of practitioners who have not yet fulfilled the practice of the six perfections (paramitas), to quickly fulfill them; for those who have not yet aroused the Bodhi mind (bodhicitta), to quickly arouse it. If those of the Śrāvakayāna who have not yet attained the fruit, to quickly attain it.

'If, within the Trisahasra-Mahasahasra-lokadhatu, the gods and immortals have not yet aroused the unsurpassed Bodhi mind, may they quickly arouse it. If various sentient beings have not yet obtained the roots of faith in the Mahāyāna, by the power of this dharani, may their seeds of the Mahāyāna and sprouts of Dharma grow. By the power of my expedient compassion, may all their needs be fulfilled.

'If, in the Trisahasra-Mahasahasra-lokadhatu, in dark and hidden places, sentient beings in the Three Lower Realms hear this mantra of mine, may they all be liberated from suffering. If there are Bodhisattvas who have not yet attained the first stage, may they quickly attain it, and even attain the ten stages. Furthermore, may they attain the Buddha-ground, naturally accomplishing the thirty-two major marks and eighty minor marks.

'If those of the Śrāvakayāna hear this dharani, even once through the ear, and those who practice and write this dharani, abiding with a straightforward mind and in accordance with the Dharma, the Four Fruits of the Śrāmaṇa will not

「若三千大千世界內,山河、石壁、四大海水,能令涌沸;須彌山及鐵圍山,能令搖動;又令碎如微塵,其中眾生,悉令發無上菩提心。

「若諸眾生,現世求愿者,於三七日,凈持齋戒,誦此陀羅尼,必果所愿。從生死際,至生死際,一切惡業,並皆滅盡。三千大千世界內,一切諸佛、菩薩、梵釋四天王、神仙、龍王,悉皆證知。

「若諸人天,誦持此陀羅尼者,其人若在江河大海中沐浴,其中眾生,得此人浴身之水,沾著其身,一切惡業、重罪,悉皆消滅,即得轉生他方凈土,蓮華化生,不受胎身、濕卵之身,何況受持讀誦者?

'If within the three thousand great thousand worlds (Sahasra-lokadhatu), mountains, rivers, stone walls, and the four great seas can be made to surge and boil; Mount Sumeru (Sumeru) and the Iron Ring Mountains (Cakravada) can be made to shake; and further, they can be shattered into fine dust, and all beings within them can be made to generate the unsurpassed Bodhi mind (Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi-citta).'

'If various beings in this life seek wishes, for twenty-one days (three seven days), purely observe fasting and precepts, and recite this Dharani, their wishes will surely be fulfilled. From the edge of birth and death to the edge of birth and death, all evil karma will be completely extinguished. Within the three thousand great thousand worlds, all Buddhas (Buddha), Bodhisattvas (Bodhisattva), Brahma (Brahma), Sakra devanam Indra (Sakra devanam Indra), the Four Heavenly Kings (Caturmaharajakayikas), immortals, and Dragon Kings (Nagaraja) will all know this.'

'If various humans and devas recite this Dharani, and if that person bathes in rivers or the great sea, the beings within, who receive the water from that person's bath and touch their bodies, all evil karma and heavy sins will be completely eliminated, and they will immediately be reborn in pure lands (Sukhavati) in other directions, born from lotus flowers, not subject to birth from wombs, moisture, or eggs, how much more so for those who receive, uphold, read, and recite this Dharani?'

'If those who recite this Dharani walk on the road, when a great wind comes, blowing on that person's body, hair, and clothes, and the remaining wind passes down, various beings who receive the wind that has brushed against that person's body, all heavy sins and evil karma will be completely extinguished, and they will no longer receive the retribution of the three evil paths (Tiryak-yoni, Preta-loka, Naraka), and will always be born before the Buddha.'

'You should know that the merit and reward of those who receive and uphold this Dharani are inconceivable. The words spoken by those who recite this Dharani, whether good or evil, when heard by all demons (Mara), non-Buddhist practitioners (Tirthika), heavenly dragons (Naga), and ghosts and spirits (Deva), are all pure Dharma sounds, and they all generate a respectful heart towards that person, respecting them as if they were the Buddha.'

'Those who recite this Dharani, you should know that that person is the Buddha-body treasury, cherished by ninety-nine billion Ganges sands (Ganges sands) of Buddhas. You should know that that person is the light treasury, illuminated by the light of all Tathagatas (Tathagata). You should know that that person is the compassion treasury, constantly saving beings with the Dharani. You should know that that person is the wonderful Dharma treasury, universally gathering all.'


切諸陀羅尼門故。當知其人,是禪定藏,百千三昧常現前故。當知其人,是虛空藏,常以空慧觀眾生故。當知其人,是無畏藏,龍天善神常護持故。當知其人,是妙語藏,口中陀羅尼音無斷絕故。當知其人,是常住藏,三災惡劫不能壞故。當知其人,是解脫藏,天魔外道不能稽留故。當知其人,是藥王藏,常以陀羅尼療眾生病故。當知其人,是神通藏,游諸佛國得自在故。其人功德贊不可盡。

「善男子!若復有人,厭世間苦,求長生樂者,在閑凈處,清凈結界。咒衣著。若水、若食、若香、若藥,皆咒一百八遍,服,必得長命。

「若能如法結界,依法受持,一切成就。其結界法者,取刀,咒二十一遍,劃地為界。或取凈水,咒二十一遍,散著四方為界。或取白芥子,咒二十一遍,擲著四方為界。或以想到處為界,或取凈灰,咒二十一遍為界。或咒五色線二十一遍,圍繞四邊為界。皆得。

「若能如法受持,自然克果。若聞此陀羅尼名字者,尚滅無量劫生死重罪,何況誦持者?若得此神咒誦者,當知其人,已曾供養無量諸佛,廣種善根。

「若能為諸眾生,拔其苦難,如法誦持者,當知其人,即是具大悲者。成佛不久,所見眾生,皆悉為誦,令彼耳聞,與作菩提因,是人功德,無量無邊,

You should know that this person is a treasure of emptiness, because he constantly observes sentient beings with the wisdom of emptiness. You should know that this person is a treasure of fearlessness, because dragons, gods, and benevolent spirits constantly protect and support him. You should know that this person is a treasure of wonderful speech, because the sound of Dharani from his mouth is never interrupted. You should know that this person is a treasure of permanence, because the three calamities and evil kalpas cannot destroy him. You should know that this person is a treasure of liberation, because demons and heretics cannot hinder or detain him. You should know that this person is a treasure of the Medicine King, because he constantly uses Dharani to cure the diseases of sentient beings. You should know that this person is a treasure of supernatural powers, because he can travel to the Buddha lands and attain freedom. The merits of this person cannot be fully praised.

'Good man! If there is someone who is weary of the suffering of the world and seeks the joy of longevity, then in a quiet and secluded place, purify and establish a boundary. Wear clothes that have been blessed with mantras. Whether it is water, food, incense, or medicine, chant the mantra one hundred and eight times over them, and after consuming them, you will surely attain longevity.'

'If you can establish a boundary according to the Dharma and uphold it according to the Dharma, everything will be accomplished. The method of establishing a boundary is to take a knife, chant the mantra twenty-one times, and draw a line on the ground as a boundary. Or take clean water, chant the mantra twenty-one times, and sprinkle it in the four directions as a boundary. Or take white mustard seeds, chant the mantra twenty-one times, and throw them in the four directions as a boundary. Or use the extent of your thoughts as a boundary, or take clean ashes, chant the mantra twenty-one times as a boundary. Or chant the five-colored thread twenty-one times and surround the four sides as a boundary. All are acceptable.'

'If you can uphold it according to the Dharma, you will naturally attain the fruit. If you hear the name of this Dharani, you can still eradicate the heavy sins of countless kalpas of birth and death, let alone those who recite and uphold it? If you obtain this divine mantra to recite, you should know that this person has already made offerings to countless Buddhas and planted vast roots of goodness.'

'If you can, for the sake of all sentient beings, remove their suffering and difficulties, and recite and uphold this Dharani according to the Dharma, you should know that this person is one who possesses great compassion. Buddhahood is not far off. For all the sentient beings he sees, he recites this Dharani for them, allowing them to hear it, and creating the cause for Bodhi (菩提, enlightenment) with them. The merits of this person are immeasurable and boundless.'


贊不可盡。

「若能精誠用心,身持齋戒,為一切眾生,懺悔先業之罪,亦自懺謝,無量劫來,種種惡業,口中馺馺,誦此陀羅尼,聲聲不絕者,四沙門果,此生即證。其利根有慧,觀方便者,十地果位,克獲不難,何況世間小小福報?所有求愿,無不果遂者也。

「若欲使鬼者,取野髑髏凈洗,于千眼像前設壇場,以種種香華、飲食祭之,日日如是,七日必來現身,隨人使令。

「若欲使四天王者,咒檀香燒之。

「由此菩薩大悲願力深重故,亦為此陀羅尼威神廣大故。」

佛告阿難:

「若有國土,災難起時,是土國王,若以正法治國,寬縱人物,不枉眾生,赦諸有過,七日七夜,身心精進,誦持如是大悲心陀羅尼神咒,令彼國土,一切災難,悉皆除滅,五穀豐登,萬姓安樂。

「又若為於他國怨敵,數來侵擾,百姓不安,大臣謀叛,疫氣流行,水旱不調,日月失度。如是種種災難起時,當造千眼大悲心像,面向西方,以種種香華、幢幡、寶蓋、或百味飲食,至心供養。其王又能七日七夜,身心精進,誦持如是陀羅尼神妙章句。外國怨敵,即自降伏,各還政治,不相擾惱,國土通同,慈心相向。王子百官,皆行忠赤,妃后婇女,孝敬向王。諸龍鬼神,擁護其國。雨澤

『如果能夠以精誠之心,身體力行地持齋戒,為一切眾生懺悔往昔的罪業,也為自己懺謝無量劫以來所造的種種惡業,口中不停地誦唸此陀羅尼,一聲接一聲永不間斷,那麼四沙門果(須陀洹果、斯陀含果、阿那含果、阿羅漢果),此生便可證得。那些根器銳利、具有智慧,懂得觀照方便法門的人,十地果位(菩薩修行所證的十種階位),證得並不困難,更何況世間小小的福報呢?所有祈求的願望,沒有不實現的。

『如果想要役使鬼,就取來野外的骷髏,清洗乾淨,在千眼像前設定壇場,用各種香花、飲食祭祀它,每天都這樣做,七天後鬼必定現身,隨人使喚。

『如果想要役使四大天王,就焚燒檀香來持咒。

『由於這位菩薩大悲願力深重,也由於此陀羅尼威神廣大。』

佛告訴阿難:

『如果某個國家發生災難時,這個國家的國王,如果能以正法治理國家,寬待百姓,不冤枉眾生,赦免各種過錯,七天七夜,身心精進,誦持如此大悲心陀羅尼神咒,就能使那個國家的一切災難,全部消除滅盡,五穀豐收,百姓安樂。

『又如果因為他國怨敵,屢次前來侵擾,百姓不得安寧,大臣圖謀叛亂,疫病流行,水旱不調,日月執行失常。像這樣種種災難發生時,應當建造千眼大悲心像,面朝西方,用各種香花、幢幡、寶蓋、或各種美味飲食,至誠供養。國王又能七天七夜,身心精進,誦持如此陀羅尼神妙章句。外國怨敵,就會自行降伏,各自回去治理自己的國家,不再互相侵擾,國土之間和睦相處,以慈悲心相待。王子和百官,都盡忠盡職,妃嬪和宮女,都孝順恭敬國王。諸龍鬼神,都會擁護這個國家,及時降下雨水。

【English Translation】 English version: Praise cannot be exhausted.

'If one can sincerely and diligently observe precepts, fasting, and repent for the past sins of all sentient beings, and also repent for oneself for the various evil deeds committed over countless kalpas, reciting this Dharani incessantly, with each utterance following the next without interruption, then the four Sramana fruits (Srotaapanna, Sakrdagamin, Anaagamin, Arhat) can be attained in this very life. Those with sharp faculties and wisdom, who understand how to contemplate expedient methods, will find it not difficult to attain the ten Bhumi stages (the ten stages of a Bodhisattva's practice), let alone the small blessings of the world? All wishes and desires will be fulfilled without fail.'

'If one wishes to command ghosts, take a clean, wild skull, set up an altar in front of the Thousand-Eyed Image, and offer various incense, flowers, and food as sacrifices. Do this daily for seven days, and the ghost will surely appear and be at your command.'

'If one wishes to command the Four Heavenly Kings, burn sandalwood while chanting the mantra.'

'It is because of the profound and weighty compassionate vows of this Bodhisattva, and also because of the vast and powerful spiritual efficacy of this Dharani.'

The Buddha told Ananda:

'If a country experiences disasters, and the king of that country governs with the proper Dharma, treats the people with kindness, does not wrong sentient beings, and pardons those who have made mistakes, then for seven days and seven nights, with body and mind diligently reciting and upholding this Great Compassion Heart Dharani mantra, all disasters in that country will be completely eliminated, the five grains will be abundant, and the people will live in peace and happiness.'

'Furthermore, if a neighboring country repeatedly invades, causing unrest among the people, if ministers plot rebellion, if epidemics spread, if there is imbalance in water and drought, if the sun and moon lose their proper course, and various such disasters arise, then one should create an image of the Thousand-Eyed Great Compassion Heart, facing west, and offer various incense, flowers, banners, canopies, or a hundred flavors of food with utmost sincerity. If the king can also, for seven days and seven nights, diligently recite and uphold these wondrous verses of the Dharani, the enemy from the foreign country will surrender on their own, each returning to govern their own country, without disturbing each other. The countries will be in harmony, treating each other with compassion. The princes and officials will all be loyal and devoted, and the consorts and palace women will be filial and respectful towards the king. All the dragons, ghosts, and spirits will protect that country, and rain will fall in due season.'


順時,果實豐饒,人民歡樂。

「又若家內,遇大惡病,百怪競起,鬼神邪魔,耗亂其家,惡人橫造口舌以相謀害,室家大小內外不和者,當向千眼大悲像前,設其壇場,至心念觀世音菩薩。誦此陀羅尼,滿其千遍,如上惡事,悉皆消滅,永得安隱。」

阿難白佛言:「世尊!此咒名何?云何受持?」

佛告阿難:「如是神咒有種種名。一名:廣大圓滿。一名:無礙大悲。一名:救苦陀羅尼。一名:延壽陀羅尼。一名:滅惡趣陀羅尼。一名:破惡業障陀羅尼。一名:滿愿陀羅尼。一名:隨心自在陀羅尼。一名:速超上地陀羅尼。如是受持。」

阿難白佛言:「世尊!此菩薩摩訶薩,名字何等?善能宣說如是陀羅尼。」

佛言:

「此菩薩名『觀世音自在』,亦名『捻索』,亦名『千光眼』。

「善男子!此觀世音菩薩,不可思議威神之力,已於過去無量劫中,已作佛竟,號『正法明如來』。大悲願力,為欲發起一切菩薩,安樂成熟諸眾生故,現作菩薩。

「汝等大眾、諸菩薩摩訶薩、梵、釋、龍、神,皆應恭敬,莫生輕慢。一切人天,常須供養。專稱名號,得無量福,滅無量罪,命終往生阿彌陀佛國。」

佛告阿難:

「此觀世音菩薩,所說神咒,真

佛說:

『這位菩薩名叫『觀世音自在』(Avalokiteśvara),也名叫『捻索』,也名叫『千光眼』。

『善男子!這位觀世音菩薩,具有不可思議的威神之力,已經在過去無量劫中,成就佛果,名號是『正法明如來』(Tathagata)。因為大悲願力的緣故,爲了發起一切菩薩的菩提心,爲了使一切眾產生熟解脫,所以示現為菩薩。

『你們大眾、各位菩薩摩訶薩、梵天(Brahma)、帝釋(Śakra)、龍(Nāga)、神(Deva),都應當恭敬,不要產生輕慢之心。所有的人和天人,經常需要供養。專心稱念他的名號,可以得到無量的福報,消滅無量的罪業,命終之後往生阿彌陀佛(Amitābha)的極樂世界。』

佛告訴阿難:

『這位觀世音菩薩所說的神咒,真實不虛。

【English Translation】 English version: When the seasons are favorable, the fruits are abundant, and the people are joyful.

『Furthermore, if within a household, there arises a great and terrible illness, with hundreds of strange occurrences, and ghosts, spirits, and demons disrupt and disturb the home, if wicked people fabricate slander and plot harm against each other, and if the family members, both young and old, inside and outside the home, are not in harmony, they should set up an altar before the Thousand-Eyed Great Compassion Image, and with utmost sincerity, recite the name of Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva. Recite this Dharani a thousand times, and all the aforementioned evil events will be extinguished, and they will forever obtain peace and security.』

Ananda (one of the ten principal disciples of the Buddha) said to the Buddha, 『World Honored One! What is the name of this mantra? How should it be received and upheld?』

The Buddha told Ananda, 『This divine mantra has various names. One name is: Vast and Perfect. One name is: Unobstructed Great Compassion. One name is: Save-from-Suffering Dharani. One name is: Prolong-Life Dharani. One name is: Extinguish-Evil-Paths Dharani. One name is: Break-Evil-Karma-Obstacles Dharani. One name is: Fulfill-Wishes Dharani. One name is: As-Desired-自在 Dharani. One name is: Quickly-Transcend-to-Higher-Ground Dharani. Receive and uphold it in this way.』

Ananda asked the Buddha, 『World Honored One! What is the name of this Bodhisattva-Mahasattva? He is so skilled at proclaiming such a Dharani.』

The Buddha said:

『This Bodhisattva is named 『Avalokiteśvara』 (觀世音自在), also named 『Holding the Rope,』 also named 『Thousand-Light-Eyes.』

『Good man! This Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva, with inconceivable majestic spiritual power, has already, in past countless kalpas, accomplished Buddhahood, with the name 『Tathagata (如來) of the Right Dharma Light.』 Due to the power of the Great Compassion Vow, in order to inspire all Bodhisattvas, and to bring peace, joy and maturity to all living beings, he now manifests as a Bodhisattva.

『All of you, the assembly, all Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas, Brahma (梵), Śakra (釋), Nāgas (龍), and Devas (神), should all be respectful and not give rise to arrogance or contempt. All humans and devas should constantly make offerings. Single-mindedly recite his name, and you will obtain immeasurable blessings, extinguish immeasurable sins, and upon the end of your life, be reborn in the Land of Ultimate Bliss of Amitābha (阿彌陀佛) Buddha.』

The Buddha told Ananda:

『The divine mantra spoken by this Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva is true and not false.』


實不虛。若欲請此菩薩來,咒拙具羅香(拙具羅香,安息香也)三七遍,燒,菩薩即來。

「若有貓兒所著者,取弭哩吒那(死貓兒頭骨也)燒作灰,和凈土泥,捻作貓兒形,于千眼像前,咒鑌鐵刀子一百八遍,段段割之,亦一百八段,遍遍一咒,一稱彼名,即永差不著。

「若為蠱毒所害者,取藥劫布羅(龍腦香也),和拙具羅香,各等分,以井華水一升和煎,取一升,于千眼像前,咒一百八遍,服,即差。

「若為惡蛇蝎所螫者,取乾薑末,咒一七遍,著瘡中,立即除差。

「若為惡怨橫相謀害者,取凈土、或面、或蠟,捻作本形,于千眼像前,咒鑌鐵刀一百八遍,一咒一截,一稱彼名,燒盡一百八段,彼即歡喜,終身厚重,相愛敬。

「若有患眼睛壞者,若青盲眼暗者,若白暈、赤膜,無光明者,取訶梨勒果、庵摩勒果、鞞醯勒果,三種各一顆,搗破細研。當研時,唯須護凈,莫使新產婦人及豬、狗見。口中唸佛,以白蜜、若人乳汁,和封眼中。著其人乳,要須男孩子母乳,女母乳不成。其藥和竟,還須千眼像前,咒一千八遍,著眼中,滿七日,在深室慎風,眼睛還生。青盲、白暈者,光奇盛也。

「若患瘧病著者,取虎、豹、豺、狼皮,咒三七遍,披著身上,即差。師

『如果有人患瘧疾,就取虎、豹、豺、狼的皮,唸誦咒語二十一遍,披在身上,病就好了。

'If someone is possessed by a cat demon, take the skull of a dead cat, burn it to ashes, mix it with clean mud, and mold it into the shape of a cat. In front of the Thousand-Eyed Image, chant the mantra for a vajra knife one hundred and eight times, cutting it piece by piece, also into one hundred and eight pieces. Chant the mantra with each cut, and say the name of the demon, and you will be forever free from the demon's possession.'

'If someone is harmed by poison, take Guggulu (dragon brain incense) and benzoin, each in equal parts, mix them with one liter of well water and boil them. Take one liter, and in front of the Thousand-Eyed Image, chant the mantra one hundred and eight times, and drink it, and the illness will be cured.'

'If someone is stung by a venomous snake or scorpion, take dried ginger powder, chant the mantra seven times, and apply it to the wound, and it will be cured immediately.'

'If someone is plotted against by malicious enemies, take clean soil, flour, or wax, and mold it into the shape of the enemy. In front of the Thousand-Eyed Image, chant the mantra for a vajra knife one hundred and eight times, cutting off a piece with each chant, and saying the enemy's name with each cut. Burn all one hundred and eight pieces, and the enemy will be pleased, treat you with kindness for the rest of their life, and love and respect you.'

'If someone suffers from eye disease, whether it is glaucoma or blindness, or white spots or red membranes, and there is no light, take Haritaki fruit (Haritaki fruit), Amla fruit (Amla fruit), and Bibhitaki fruit (Bibhitaki fruit), one of each, crush them and grind them into a fine powder. When grinding, be sure to keep it clean, and do not let newborn women, pigs, or dogs see it. Recite the Buddha's name, and mix it with white honey or human breast milk, and seal it in the eyes. When using human breast milk, it must be from the mother of a male child; the milk from the mother of a female child will not work. After the medicine is mixed, it must be chanted in front of the Thousand-Eyed Image one thousand and eight times, and applied to the eyes. After seven days, stay in a dark room and avoid the wind, and the eyes will regain their sight. If it is glaucoma or white spots, the light will be extraordinarily bright.'

'If someone suffers from malaria, take the skin of a tiger, leopard, jackal, or wolf, chant the mantra twenty-one times, and wear it on the body, and the illness will be cured.'

「若患一邊偏風,耳鼻不通、手腳不隨者,取胡麻油,煎青木香,咒三七遍,摩拭身上,永得除差。又方取純牛酥,咒三七遍,摩,亦差。

「若患難產者,取胡麻油,咒三七遍,摩產婦臍中及玉門中,即易生。

「若婦人懷妊,子死腹中,取阿波末利伽草(牛膝草也)一大兩,清水二升和煎,取一升,咒三七遍,服,即出一,無苦痛。胎衣不出者,亦服此藥,即差。

If someone suffers from severe malaria, with the illness penetrating the heart, causing suffocation and near death, take one peach gum, about the size of a peach, mix it with one liter of clear water and boil it down to half a liter, chant a mantra seven times, and drink it all at once, and it will be cured immediately. If someone suffers from contagious corpse energy or persistent illness caused by a buried corpse, take Jue Ju Luo incense (name to be verified), chant a mantra twenty-one times, and burn it to fumigate the nostrils. If someone suffers from deafness, chant a mantra over sesame oil and put it in the ear, and it will be cured immediately.

If someone suffers from hemiplegia, with blocked ears and nose, and unresponsive hands and feet, take sesame oil, boil it with costus root, chant a mantra twenty-one times, and rub it on the body, and it will be permanently cured. Alternatively, take pure ghee, chant a mantra twenty-one times, and rub it on, and it will also be cured.

If someone has a difficult childbirth, take sesame oil, chant a mantra twenty-one times, and rub it on the pregnant woman's navel and yoni (vulva), and the delivery will be easy.

If a woman is pregnant and the fetus dies in the womb, take one tael of Apamarga herb (prickly chaff flower), mix it with two liters of clear water and boil it down to one liter, chant a mantra twenty-one times, and drink it, and the fetus will come out without pain. If the placenta does not come out, also take this medicine, and it will be cured immediately.

If someone suddenly suffers from unbearable heart pain, called 'corpse possession disease', take one whole Kunduruka incense (olibanum), chant a mantra twenty-one times, chew and swallow it, without limiting the amount, until vomiting occurs, and it will be cured immediately. Avoid the five pungent spices, alcohol, and meat.

If someone is burned by fire, take hot Gomaya (black cow dung), chant a mantra twenty-one times, and apply it to the wound, and it will be cured immediately.


「若患蛔蟲咬心,取骨魯末遮(白馬尿也)半升,咒三七遍,服,即差。重者一升,蟲如綟索出來。

「若患丁瘡者,取凌鎖葉搗取汁,咒三七遍,瀝著瘡上,即拔根出,立差。

「若患腹中痛,和井華水,和印成鹽三七顆,咒三七遍,服半升,即差。

「若患畏夜,不安恐怖,出入驚怕者,取白線作索,咒三七遍,作二十一結,系項,恐怖即除。非但除怖,亦得滅罪。

「若家內橫起災難者,取石榴枝,寸截一千八段,兩頭涂酥酪蜜,一咒一燒,盡千八遍,一切災難悉皆除滅,要在佛前作之。

「若取白菖蒲,咒三七遍,繫著右臂上,一切斗處、論義處,皆得勝他。

「若取奢奢彌葉枝柯,寸截,兩頭涂真牛酥、白蜜牛酥,一咒一燒,盡一千八段,日別三時,時別一千八遍,滿七日,咒師自悟通智也。

「若欲降伏大力鬼神者,取阿唎瑟迦柴(木患子也),咒七七遍,火中燒,還須涂酥酪蜜,要須于大悲心像前作之。若取胡嚧遮那

If one seeks great wisdom, one should practice the Treasure Mirror Hand (symbolizing wisdom and clarity). If one desires to see all the Buddhas of the ten directions, one should practice the Purple Lotus Hand (symbolizing seeing the Buddhas). If one seeks hidden treasures in the earth, one should practice the Treasure Box Hand (symbolizing wealth). The Bodhisattva Moonlight also spoke a Dharani mantra for all practitioners, and protects them with it:

'Shen Di Di Tu Su Zha (One) A Ruo Mi Di Wu Du Zha (Two) Shen Qi Zha (Three) Po Lai Di (Four) Ye Mi Ruo Zha Wu Du Zha (Five) Ju Luo Di Zha Qi Mo Zha (Six) Suo Po He'

'You should deeply and purely receive and uphold this Dharani, widely proclaim and spread it throughout Jambudvipa (The world we live in), and do not let it be cut off.'

'This Dharani can greatly benefit sentient beings in the three realms. All those who are afflicted with suffering can be cured with this Dharani, and there is no one who will not recover.'

'This great divine mantra, even if it is used to curse a dry tree, it can still produce branches, trunks, flowers, and fruits, let alone sentient beings with consciousness? If someone has a disease and it cannot be cured with it, there is definitely no such case.'

【English Translation】 English version: Gods, hearing my praise, should all rejoice accordingly. 『If there are those who slander this mantra, it is equivalent to slandering ninety-nine billion Ganges sands of Buddhas (Buddhas).
