中天竺國三藏善無畏奉　詔譯

上首正體身大黃色。結跏趺座大寶蓮華臺上。其華三十二葉。其一一間有諸小葉。以無量百千大摩尼寶為莊嚴也。其尊之正面天冠上有三重。諸頭面之數有五百。當面之左右造兩面。右名蓮華面。左名金剛面也。右者青碧貌。左紺白色也。正面者表佛部。是大士有大身故。三部海會備具也。八大菩薩以為眷屬。大士前有童目天女持可愛華。乃童子並持經僧座。其形七歲童子貌。第三重有二十八部眾。有各各本形。真言曰。

一密跡金剛士。赤紅色具三眼。右持金剛杵。左手拳安腰。

二烏芻君荼央俱尸。左手持一股金剛杵。右手拳安腰。八部力士賞迦羅綠色。右手持慧劍。左手三股印作也。

三魔醯那羅達。黑赤紅色具三眼瞋怒相也。以三股揭為天冠。及金剛寶以為瓔珞。左手持杵。右手把寶盤。內赤外黑色也。

主尊的正體身是大的黃色。結跏趺坐于大寶蓮華臺上。那蓮花有三十二葉，每一葉之間都有小葉，用無量百千的大摩尼寶來莊嚴。主尊的正面天冠上有三重。諸頭面的數量有五百。在當面的左右造兩面，右邊名為蓮華面，左邊名為金剛面。右邊的面貌是青碧色，左邊是紺白色。正面代表佛部。因為大士有大身，所以三部海會都具備。八大菩薩作為眷屬。大士前面有童目天女拿著可愛的花。還有童子並拿著經僧座，其形狀是七歲童子的面貌。第三重有二十八部眾，各有各的本形。真言如下：

Thousand-Armed Avalokiteśvara Construction Sequence Ritual Manual

Translated by Tripiṭaka Śūbhākarasiṃha of Central India under Imperial Order

The main deity's principal body is large and yellow. It sits in the lotus position (Padmasana) on a great jeweled lotus platform. The lotus has thirty-two petals, with small leaves between each petal, adorned with immeasurable hundreds of thousands of great Mani jewels. The main deity's front crown has three layers. The number of heads and faces is five hundred. On the left and right sides of the main face are two additional faces. The right one is called the Lotus Face (Padma-mukha), and the left one is called the Vajra Face (Vajra-mukha). The right face is blue-green in appearance, and the left one is dark white. The front face represents the Buddha family (Buddha-kula). Because the great being (Mahasattva) has a large body, the complete assembly of the three families (Tri-kula) is present. The Eight Great Bodhisattvas serve as attendants. In front of the great being is the Child-Eyed Heavenly Woman (Bala-netra-devi) holding a lovely flower. There is also a boy holding a scripture-monk's seat, appearing as a seven-year-old child. The third layer has the Twenty-Eight Attendants, each with their original form. The mantras are as follows:

  1. Guhyapada Vajrapani (Secret-Foot Vajra-Holder): Reddish-crimson, with three eyes. The right hand holds a vajra (diamond scepter), and the left hand is a fist placed on the hip.

  2. Ucchuṣma-kuṇḍali-yakṣa: The left hand holds a single-pronged vajra, and the right hand is a fist placed on the hip. Eight-Part Strongman (Asta-bhaga-balin) Śaṅkara: Green, the right hand holds a wisdom sword, and the left hand forms the three-pronged mudra.

  3. Maheśvara-Nārāyaṇa-datta: Blackish-red, with three eyes, appearing wrathful. The crown is adorned with a trident (triśūla), and the necklace is made of vajra jewels. The left hand holds a pestle, and the right hand holds a treasure plate, red inside and black outside.

  4. Kimpila-dārakāpila: White-red. The left hand holds a treasure bow, and the right hand holds a treasure arrow.

  5. Vāsava-Varuna: White-red. The left hand holds a rope, and the right hand is placed on the hip.

  6. Pūrṇa-bhadraghata-cintāmaṇi-dhara: The left hand holds a vajra wheel, and the right hand forms a fist mudra. Red.

Om Dhara Kara Klya Manda Svaha

The Twenty-third Secret Words of General Samjñā(Samjñā Mahājanā, General Samjñā).

Om Arya Samaye Svaha

The Twenty-fourth Secret Words of Nanda(Nanda, Joy) and Upananda(Upananda, Near Joy).

Om Ku Mani Pao Shang Svaha

The Twenty-fifth Secret Words of Asura(Asura, Demigod) and Gandharva(Gandharva, Celestial Musician).

Om Zhanruo Zhanju Molijia Svaha

The Twenty-sixth Secret Words of Water, Fire, Thunder, and Lightning.

Thus, the virtuous deities, with one voice, each declared their vows, revealing their names, secret words, and divine mantras. Leading their retinues, they surround and protect those who uphold and recite 'Svaha'. If there are virtuous men and virtuous women who uphold these mantras, they may recite the mantras of the virtuous deities, possessing great power and influence.

In the third year of the Enpō era, the venerable Jōgon brushed this down. In the first year of the Tenmei era, the disciple Jinni copied the text preserved at Uji Eshin-in Temple. Now having obtained this text, it was collated once by the transmission holders of this mountain's Jishin-in Temple. I have re-collated it for publication.
