如是我聞。一時薄伽梵住補陀落山大聖觀自在宮殿中。其山無量娑羅。多麼羅。瞻卜。無憂阿底目。多迦種種花樹莊嚴。與大苾芻眾八千人俱。復有九十九俱胝那庾多百千菩薩俱。無量百千凈居天眾。自在大自在梵王天子而為上首。前後圍繞而為說法。時觀自在菩薩與無量持明仙圍繞。往詣世尊所至佛所已。頭面禮足右繞世尊三匝。退坐一面白佛言。世尊我有心密語名十一面。十一俱胝如來同共宣說。我今說之。利益安樂一切有情。能除一切疾病。止諸不吉祥惡夢。及制非命。不凈信者令凈信。能除一切障尾曩夜迦。心所希望皆稱遂故。我不見於天世魔世梵世及沙門婆羅門眾。以此心密語加護救濟攝受。息災吉祥免治罰。離刀杖毒藥故。若有能違越者無有是處。唯除宿業不決定心受持此密語一切如來稱讚護念。一切如來隨喜世尊我念過去。殑伽沙等數劫過後。有如來名百蓮花眼髻無障礙無染力光王如來。我于爾時為大仙人。從彼如來受此

【English Translation】 English version Thus have I heard. At one time, the Bhagavan (Blessed One) was dwelling on Mount Potalaka (Avalokiteśvara's abode), in the palace of the Great Holy Avalokiteśvara (the Bodhisattva of Compassion). That mountain was adorned with countless śāla (a type of tree), tamāla (a type of tree), campaka (magnolia), aśoka (a type of tree), atimuktaka (a type of tree), and various kinds of flowering trees. He was together with a great assembly of eight thousand bhikṣus (monks), as well as ninety-nine koṭis (ten millions) of nayutas (hundred millions) of hundreds of thousands of Bodhisattvas, and countless hundreds of thousands of Pure Abode Devas, with Maheśvara (Great Lord) and Brahma Deva at their head, surrounding the World Honored One, listening to the Dharma. At that time, Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva, surrounded by countless vidyādharas (mantra-holding immortals), went to where the World Honored One was. Having arrived at the Buddha's place, he bowed his head to the ground at the Buddha's feet, circumambulated the World Honored One three times to the right, and then withdrew to sit on one side. He then said to the Buddha: 'World Honored One, I have a heart mantra called Ekādaśamukha (Eleven-Faced Avalokiteśvara). It was jointly proclaimed by eleven koṭis of Tathagatas. I will now speak it for the benefit and happiness of all sentient beings (sattvas), to eliminate all diseases, to stop all inauspicious bad dreams, and to prevent untimely death. For those who do not have pure faith, it can cause them to generate pure faith. It can eliminate all obstacles and Vinayakas (Ganesha). All wishes in the heart will be fulfilled.' 'I do not see in the world of gods, the world of demons, the world of Brahma, or among the śrāmaṇas (ascetics) and brāhmaṇas (priests), anyone who can transgress the power of this heart mantra's protection, rescue, and embrace. It can pacify disasters, bring good fortune, avert punishment, and keep one away from the harm of swords, staves, and poison. If anyone can transgress the power of this mantra, it is impossible, except for those whose past karma is heavy and whose minds are not steadfast. Those who uphold this mantra will be praised and protected by all Tathagatas, and all Tathagatas will rejoice. World Honored One, I remember in the past, after countless kalpas (eons) equal to the sands of the Ganges (gaṅgā), there was a Tathagata named Hundred Lotus Eye Topknot Unobstructed Untainted Power Light King Tathagata. At that time, I was a great immortal, and I received this... from that Tathagata.'


心密語。才受得已十方一切如來現前。得見一切如來故便獲得無生法忍。此密語有如是大功德藏。若有善男子善女人。以凈信心殷重心。憶念作意。現世得十種勝利。何等為十。一者離諸疾病。二者一切如來攝受。三者任運獲得金銀財寶諸穀麥等。四者一切怨敵不能沮壞。五者國王王子在於王宮先言慰問。六者不被毒藥蠱毒。寒熱等病皆不著身。七者一切刀杖所不能害。八者水不能溺。九者火不能燒。十者不非命中夭。又獲四種功德。一者臨命終時得見如來。二者不生於惡趣。三者不非命終。四者從此世界得生極樂國土。世尊我念過去。十殑伽沙劫過後。有佛名曼陀羅香如來。我於是時為長者。從彼如來受此心密言。超四十萬劫生死棄捨。我由此密言晝夜唸誦作意。得一切佛住大悲智藏菩薩解脫法門。所有繫縛臨當刑戮。水火風賊蠱毒厭禱。人非人等種種苦難。由此我於一切有情。能作歸依救護安慰。洲渚室宅勝趣。以此密言力。收攝一切暴惡藥叉羅剎等先令發起慈心哀愍。然後安置立於阿耨多羅三藐三菩提。世尊我此密言。有如是大威德。由誦一遍滅除四重皆得清凈。及犯五無間罪蠲除悉皆無餘。何況諸罪而不除滅。彼人獲得一切無量俱胝那庾多佛積集善根。若聞此心密言若誦若持。一切意願皆得滿足。若族姓男族

【English Translation】 English version: The secret mantra of the mind, upon receiving it, all Tathagatas (如來,'Thus Gone One', a title of the Buddha) of the ten directions will appear before you. Because of seeing all the Tathagatas, one will obtain Anutpattika-dharmakshanti (無生法忍, the patience with the unoriginated nature of all dharmas). This secret mantra has such a great treasure of merit. If there is a good man or good woman, with pure faith and earnest devotion, remembering and focusing on it, in this life they will obtain ten kinds of victories. What are the ten? First, to be free from all diseases; second, to be embraced by all the Tathagatas; third, to naturally obtain gold, silver, treasures, and various grains; fourth, all enemies will not be able to destroy; fifth, the king and princes will first inquire with concern in the palace; sixth, not to be affected by poison, gu poison, or diseases such as cold and heat; seventh, not to be harmed by any swords or staves; eighth, not to be drowned by water; ninth, not to be burned by fire; tenth, not to die an unnatural death. Also, to obtain four kinds of merits: first, to see the Tathagata at the time of death; second, not to be born in the evil realms (三惡道, the three lower realms of existence: hell, hungry ghosts, and animals); third, not to die an unnatural death; fourth, to be born in the Land of Ultimate Bliss (Sukhavati, 極樂國土, the Pure Land of Amitabha Buddha) from this world. World Honored One, I recall in the past, after ten Ganges sands kalpas (殑伽沙劫, extremely long periods of time), there was a Buddha named Mandaragandha Tathagata (曼陀羅香如來). At that time, I was a householder, and I received this secret mantra of the mind from that Tathagata, transcending forty hundred thousand kalpas of birth and death. Because of this secret mantra, reciting and focusing on it day and night, I obtained the Great Compassionate Wisdom Treasury Bodhisattva Liberation Dharma Gate where all Buddhas reside. All those who are bound, facing punishment, and suffering from water, fire, thieves, gu poison, curses, humans and non-humans, and various kinds of suffering, therefore, I am able to be a refuge, protector, comforter, island, dwelling, and excellent destination for all sentient beings. By the power of this secret mantra, I can subdue all violent Yakshas (藥叉, a type of guardian deity) and Rakshasas (羅剎, a type of demon), first causing them to generate compassion, and then placing them to stand upon Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi (阿耨多羅三藐三菩提, unsurpassed perfect enlightenment). World Honored One, this secret mantra of mine has such great power and virtue that merely reciting it once can eliminate the four grave offenses (四重罪, killing one's father, killing one's mother, killing an Arhat, and causing disunity in the Sangha), making them all pure, and even the five heinous crimes (五無間罪, killing one's father, killing one's mother, killing an Arhat, causing disunity in the Sangha, and shedding the blood of a Buddha) can be expunged, completely without remainder. How much more so will other offenses not be eliminated? That person will obtain all the immeasurable Koti-Niyuta (俱胝那庾多, vast numerical units) of good roots accumulated by the Buddhas. If one hears this secret mantra of the mind, if one recites and upholds it, all wishes will be fulfilled. If a man or woman of good family…


姓女苾芻苾芻尼近仕男近仕女婆羅門剎利毗舍首陀及余類。于白月十四日或十五日。為我不食一日一夜。清齋唸誦。超四萬劫生死。一切有情才稱念我名。超稱百千俱胝那庾多如來名號。皆得不退轉。離一切病患。免一切夭死災橫。遠離身口意不善行。若能依教相應。作意觀行。佛菩提如在掌中。時婆伽梵贊觀自在菩薩言。善哉善哉佛子。汝於一切有情起大悲愍。汝能以此方便。安立一切有情于無上正等菩提。我以授記深生隨喜。汝當說之。

爾時觀自在菩薩摩訶薩。從座而起整理衣服。偏袒右肩頂禮佛足。說自根本密言。

【English Translation】 English version: Whether they are Bhiksuni (female monastic), Bhikkhu (male monastic), Upasaka (male lay follower), Upasika (female lay follower), Brahmana (priestly class), Kshatriya (warrior class), Vaishya (merchant class), Shudra (laborer class), or people of other castes, on the fourteenth or fifteenth day of the white month (waxing moon), if they fast for one day and one night for me (Avalokiteśvara), maintaining pure precepts and reciting my name, they will transcend forty thousand kalpas (aeons) of birth and death. All sentient beings who recite my name will surpass the merit of reciting the names of hundreds of thousands of kotis (crores) of nayutas (large number) of Tathagatas (Buddhas), and they will all attain non-retrogression, be free from all illnesses, avoid all untimely deaths and accidental disasters, and stay away from unwholesome actions of body, speech, and mind. If they can practice contemplation and cultivation in accordance with the teachings, Buddhahood will be as easy as holding something in the palm of their hand. At that time, Bhagavan (the Blessed One) praised Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva, saying, 'Excellent! Excellent! Son of Buddha, you have aroused great compassion for all sentient beings. You are able to establish all sentient beings in unsurpassed, complete, and perfect enlightenment through this expedient means. I bestow upon you a prediction of Buddhahood and deeply rejoice in this. You should proclaim this dharma.' 次說澡浴灌灑凈衣密言。

以此密言加持水。沐浴灌灑潔身凈服等。應誦七遍。

時觀自在菩薩復說獻焚香密言曰。

怛你也(二合)他拄(陟古反下同)嚕拄嚕訶訶訶訶娑嚩(二合引)訶(引)

以此密言加持香燒奉獻。

時觀自在大菩薩復說獻花密言曰。

怛你也(二合引)他悉哩悉哩地裡地裡悉哩地哩娑嚩(二合引)訶(引)

以此密言加持花及燈奉獻當誦七遍。

時觀自在菩薩復說奉獻飲食密言曰。

複次觀自在菩薩說護摩密言曰。

用這個秘密真言加持花和燈,供奉時應當誦七遍。

這時,觀自在菩薩又說了奉獻飲食的秘密真言:

用這個秘密真言加持飲食等,供奉時應當誦二十一遍。

再次,觀自在菩薩說了護摩的秘密真言:

怛你也(二合)他訶徙么達徙者隸虎嚕虎嚕祖嚕祖嚕

At that time, Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva further spoke the mantra for establishing the boundary of the directions, saying:

Tad-ya-tha ili mili cili mili tili hili svaha (two combined, elongated) (ha elongated)

With this mantra, consecrate water, white mustard seeds, or ashes, and use them to establish boundaries. It should be recited seven times.

At that time, Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva further spoke the mantra for respectfully sending the holy assembly back to their palace, saying:

Recite this mantra, visualizing respectfully sending the holy ones back to their original palace.

I will now speak of the benefits of recitation. Even without prior practice, one can accomplish all endeavors. If someone suffers from alternating chills and fever, occurring once a day, or once every two, three, or four days. If possessed by the spirits Mitana (a type of spirit) or Pisacha (a type of spirit), or suffers from epilepsy, scrofula, leucoderma, or poisoning from Gu poison or poisonous insects. Consecrate earth, mustard seeds, and white sandalwood, seven times in a row, and apply it to the affected area, and they will be immediately cured. All karmic obstacles will be purified. If suffering from evil wind, consecrate oil and apply it, and they will be immediately cured. If suffering from ear pain, mix Aquilaria agallocha (Agarwood) oil with birch bark decoction and drip it into the ear. The pain will immediately stop. It can also cure hemicrania. Wherever there is illness, just recite the mantra and consecrate, and there is no ailment that will not be cured. Just by reciting, one will achieve accomplishment.

If one desires accomplishment, carve an image of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva from solid, flawless white sandalwood. Make it one foot and three inches tall. Make it with eleven heads and four arms. The first right hand holds prayer beads, the second right hand gives the gesture of fearlessness. The first left hand holds a lotus flower, the second left hand holds a Kundika (a water bottle).

You will certainly obtain such accomplishments.'

Furthermore, the second ritual is as follows: Starting from the fifteenth day of the white month, place the image in a relic stupa (Śarīra Stupa), and do not eat day or night. Take one hundred and eight Jati flowers (Sumana flowers, found in Guangzhou), recite the mantra once for each flower, and throw it at the image. Immediately, a great roar will emanate from in front of the image. The practitioner should not be afraid. At this time, the earth will shake. The recitation should not be interrupted. Then, pray, saying: 'May I be able to be a great protector for all beings who are without a master or refuge, may I be able to fulfill all the wishes of all sentient beings, may they all be satisfied and obtain no obstacles.'

Furthermore, regarding the mantra, during a lunar eclipse, take one ounce of ghee (clarified butter), place it in a silver vessel, and recite the mantra seven times in front of the image. If you eat it yourself or give it to others, all illnesses can be eliminated and cured. Moreover, if one can recite from the beginning of the eclipse until the moon is full again, one will not fail to obtain Siddhi (Siddhi: accomplishment).

If realgar or bezoar is mixed with water and used to bathe the body, it can eliminate all obstacles, stay away from all bad dreams and ominous things, obtain auspicious prosperity, and all kinds of diseases can be cured. 【English Translation】 English version The Sutra of Eleven-Faced Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva's Heart Mantra Recitation Ritual, Volume Middle

Translated by the Tripitaka Master Bukong of Daxingshan Temple, holding the title of Special Advanced Official of the Ministry of Rites, Grand Master of the Three Departments, Duke of Su of the State, with a fief of three thousand households, granted purple robes, posthumously awarded the title of Grand Preceptor, with the posthumous title of Dajian, and the honorary title of Greatly Wise, by Imperial Decree.

This ritual is applicable to the recitation of all deities within the Lotus family.

I shall now explain the practice ritual, which encompasses all Avalokiteshvara practices, including establishing boundaries, welcoming, inviting, and making offerings. The practitioner should first bathe, cleanse the body, and wear clean clothes. In a clean place, facing the deity's image, one should form the Samaya Mudra of the main family. Bring the two hands together in a lotus palm, spreading the remaining six fingers like an opening lotus flower. The secret mantra of Avalokiteshvara's main family is:

Om padmo (padmo, lotus) nava (nava, new) va (va, seed) ya svaha (svaha, accomplishment) ha (ha, exclamation)

Next, one should bless the water for bathing, either in a river, pond, or bathroom. The secret mantra for blessing the water is:

【English Translation】 English version: Bathing. Forming the Śvabhāva (self-nature) mudra of the Lotus family: With both hands, the right hand presses the left. Interlock the fingers inward to form a fist. The middle fingers are joined together and slightly bent at the first joint. Bend the two index fingers and attach them to the upper joints of the middle fingers without touching. Resembling the vajra shape. The mantra is: 'Namo Mahā-śriye Om śaktoye samaye svāhā meye siddhi siddhi sādhaya śivete śaṅkari śivaṃ meye āvāhaya sarvārtha sādhani svāhā' Use this mudra to protect the body, repel Vinayaka (the elephant-headed god), and purify offerings such as incense, flowers, and food, making them radiant. After washing hands and rinsing the mouth, one should form the purification mudra. Turn the right palm upwards, bend the ring finger into the palm, and touch the base of the index finger with the thumb. Use this mudra to receive water and drink three times, then wipe the lips twice. Next, use the mudra to touch the two eyes, two nostrils, two ears, two shoulders, heart, and navel in sequence, and then sprinkle water on both feet. Then, take water again and sprinkle it all over the body. Recite the mantra:

Oṃ Kru Kru Le Kuru Svāhā (repeated below)

Then, in the bathroom or by the riverbank, divide the soil into three piles. Use the first pile to wash from the feet to the waist, the second pile from the waist to the neck, and the third pile from the neck to the head. After bathing.

Then, visualize the Buddha, Dharma, Sangha, and the principal deity Avalokiteśvara (觀自在菩薩). Use the mudra to scoop water and mentally bathe the holy assembly. Turn both palms upwards, join the backs of the six fingers below the middle finger, revealing the fingernails and the two index fingers. The two thumbs should rest on the sides of the index fingers. This mudra is universal for bathing all Avalokiteśvaras. Recite the mantra:

Namo Ratna Trayāya Namo Ārya Avalokiteśvarāya Bodhisattvāya Mahāsattvāya Tadyathā Jale Mahājale Sara Padi Svāhā

Next, form the Arghya mudra. Turn both palms upwards, and each thumb should pinch the index finger. Scoop water to offer Arghya, reciting the mantra:

Then, use the mudra to scoop water and pour it over your head for self-initiation. Visualize Avalokiteśvara holding a nectar vase, with light emanating from the body and many holy beings surrounding. The devas play wonderful music. Visualize Avalokiteśvara pouring nectar onto the body of the mantra reciter. Kuṇḍali (軍荼利) mudra: each index finger rests on the upper joint of the middle finger, with the backs of the two thumbs against the sides of the index fingers. Recite the mantra:

After completing the bath, one should take clean clothes and bless them with the secret mantra of the Tathāgata's robe. The clothes worn will then become the Tathāgata's robe. The secret mantra is as follows:

Oṃ rakṣa rakṣa: Om, protect, protect Sarvabuddhādhiṣṭhita: Blessed by all Buddhas Tāṃ vastra svāhā: That garment, svāhā.

One should recite this seven times. After putting on the clothes, one should come out from the bathing place. When going to a clean room, one should stay away from greed, hatred, and delusion. Do not look at dirty objects and wicked people such as Caṇḍālas (outcasts). One should visualize a full moon in the chest. This full moon is made of the light of one's own nature, and the Bodhicitta is perfectly white like a pure moon. Also, on the surface of the moon, visualize the syllable Hrīḥ, like the color of red Sphatikā (crystal), emitting light that illuminates the ten directions. In the light, one transforms into Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva, equal and without difference. The left hand forms the Vajra fist, placed on the left hip, holding a lotus flower. The right hand is placed in front of the heart, like the gesture of an opening lotus flower. Visualize that the nature of all dharmas is pure, unstained by various afflictions and defilements, just like a lotus flower. The body has a circular halo behind it, and the crown has Amitāyus Tathāgata, adorned with various jeweled ornaments, stepping on an eight-petaled lotus flower. Arriving outside the gate of the pure room, sprinkle water as before.

Then one should bless the crown of the head, making a fist with the right hand, with the thumb and index finger touching each other, which is the mudra, and recite the secret mantra of Tārā Bodhisattva's heart on the crown of the head:

Oṃ kuru kulē svāhā: Om, do, do, svāhā.

【English Translation】 English version: Then enter the Vihāra (Buddhist monastery). Mindfully contemplate all the wise and holy beings. Earnestly prostrate with the five limbs touching the ground, right knee on the ground. Universally contemplate all Tathāgatas (Buddhas), all great Bodhisattvas (enlightened beings). See all the wise and holy beings as if they are right before your eyes. Confess and repent, rejoice in merits, request them to remain in the world, make vows, and dedicate the merits towards Anuttarā-samyak-saṃbodhi (unsurpassed complete enlightenment). Then sit in the lotus position. Form the Samaya (vow, here referring to the Samaya mudra of the principal deity; also applicable to the recitations of various Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattvas) mudra of the respective deity. First, use the Tārā (Tara, the savioress) Bodhisattva for self-protection. Bhṛkuṭī (Frowning One) Bodhisattva is also particularly excellent. Again, in the great ocean, visualize Mount Sumeru. This mountain is made of four treasures, adorned with countless jewels. With both hands interlocked inwards, make fists. Recite this mantra:

Om Ajala Hum

Form this mudra and recite the mantra. After contemplating the birth of the treasure mountain from the great ocean, visualize a jeweled pavilion on the mountain. This palace is made of countless jewels, with pearl garlands and streamers hanging everywhere. The bells and banners are stirred by the gentle breeze, emitting harmonious sounds. It is decorated with various Mani jewels, half-moons, and so on. There are also countless offering implements filling the pavilion. Within the palace, visualize the great Mandala. While doing this visualization, cross the ten fingers right over left, initially intersecting. Recite the subsequent universal offering mantra, and then send out the seven-jeweled chariot to the place of the saints. The mudra is formed by interlocking the fingers of both hands inwards, palms facing upwards, and raising the two index fingers, touching each other sideways. Each thumb is attached to the side of the index finger. The mantra says:

Om Turu Turu Hum

Next, form the Kundali mudra. The shape of the mudra is as previously described. The mantra says:

Om Amrita Hum Phat

The practitioner visualizes Kundali Vajra driving the seven-jeweled chariot, arriving at the Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, and visualizes inviting Amitayus Tathagata to ascend the seven-jeweled chariot. In the center sits Amitayus Tathagata, with Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva on the left and Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva on the right. Visualize the principal deity sitting in front of Amitabha Buddha. Then form the invitation mudra. Interlock the fingers of both hands inwards to make fists. Place the left thumb inside the palm, and raise and bend the right thumb towards oneself to beckon, and flick outwards when sending off. Use the Lotus Family Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva heart mantra (taking refuge is the same as other Avalokiteshvara mantras).

Then recite the mantra of the deity you venerate. Offer arghya (water offering). First, visualize a pure chamber with a jeweled pavilion, and invite the holy assembly to enter. Then offer a seat. Use the previous lotus mudra, with fingers slightly close together. The mantra is:

『Om padma vi-rāja svāhā』

Next, recite this verse, a gāthā (verse of praise) to respectfully thank the holy assembly:

『Svāgatam bhagavan niha prasanna citta syātam iha grhana pujam asama tad ā prasanna nandati ya kuru』

This verse is the same as the mantra, and should be recited three or seven times. One should form the mudra of the family deity to awaken. 【English Translation】 English version: Next, one should offer incense and other items. The mudra (hand gesture) is used to create a boundary in the upper direction. This mudra involves the hands interlocked inwards, with the middle fingers raised straight like needles. The index fingers are each attached to the upper joints of the middle fingers without touching the tips, and the two thumbs are each attached to the sides of the index fingers. The secret mantra is: 'Namo bhagavate aparatihata usnisa om samkara maha samaya svaha' Due to the protection of this great samaya (sacred bond), even the neighboring Chakravala Raja (Universal Monarch) cannot infringe upon it, let alone various demons. Again, with the hands interlocked inwards, raise and join the two index fingers, and let the two thumbs droop down and join together. Form the mudra for the upper boundary. The secret mantra is: 'Om iririr naga bhirbha yabhyah te nini svaha' Next is the scented paste (turaka). Next, form the fundamental mudra of Eleven-Faced Avalokiteśvara (a Buddhist Bodhisattva). Cross the hands with the right over the left, palms together, and place the mudra on the top of the head. This becomes the body of the honored deity. Recite the fundamental secret mantra seven times, then take the rosary and recite. When about to recite, coil the beads in the hand, then form the lotus bud mudra with palms together at the heart. Recite the mantra for blessing the beads. Then place it on the top of the head, saying:

Gather the five fingers of both hands and twirl the beads. This is called the rosary mudra. Recite with this mudra, neither too fast nor too slow, and without fatigue. Place the seven treasures, five grains, medicines, etc. in the center. Choose an auspicious time and date, and bless it with mudras and secret mantras. Then you should form the Ten Directions Boundary Mudra: cross the hands internally, extend and join the two thumbs, index fingers, and little fingers respectively, and rotate in the ten directions. The secret mantra is: 『Om Jvalita Rochani Hum』 Make wooden pegs from Khādira wood (Khādira, a type of tree), bless them one hundred and eight times, and nail them into the four corners. Next, dip the ends of the wood in ghee and offer them into the fire. Then sesame seeds, then yogurt, milk, honey, etc. Afterwards, add as desired. And various fragrant herbs should be burned. Among these, burning sesame seeds and glutinous rice mixed with ghee is best. If the above conditions are not fully met, simply burning ghee and adding Svaha after the mantra will also achieve everything. After the Homa is completed, sprinkle water on the fire to allow the holy assembly to rinse their mouths. To please the holy assembly, bless the Argha (Argha, offering water) with the heart mantra of the respective family and offer it. With a focused mind and palms together, earnestly seek Siddhi (Siddhi, accomplishment). Offer the Argha and, according to the Dharma, sprinkle water on the fire using the 'accomplishing affairs' mantra. Offer all the remaining Homa offerings to the external deities as desired. Offering Arghya (water offering) and sending off the holy assembly. Previously, the great protection seal mantra was used to dissolve the boundary by rotating to the left. And the precious chariot seal mantra was used to send off the holy assembly.

I will now explain in order the appearance of the Homa (fire offering) flame. Those who know the secret mantra will quickly attain Siddhi (accomplishment). Like a rainbow, white in color, adorned with the light of coral. Rotating to the right, wonderfully moist, brilliantly shining like a rainbow. Reflecting red like Vaidurya (beryl), like the shape of a Homa ladle. Trident vajra auspicious, Shankha (conch shell), lotus whisk shape. Banner, canopy, Karasha (water pot), Svastika. Its sound is like a flute and drum, the wonderful fragrance is extremely pleasing. If you see such a flame, it is without impurity and free from all obstacles. The practitioner should be earnest and should seek accomplishment. If the flame has one peak, it is superior; two peaks are of middling quality. Three peaks indicate a lower accomplishment; those seeking accomplishment should observe carefully. Next, I will describe the signs of non-accomplishment, adorned with defects and evil obstacles. Rotating to the left, extremely foul odor, the stench of corpses, the sound of a donkey braying. Repeatedly spitting out flames, the flame is cut off, a cluster of smoke creates a frightening sound. The shape of a dung container, dry and wet, the flame scatters and licks. If you see such signs in the Homa, the wise should carefully discern them. Those who know the secret mantra should quickly employ Kundali (a Wisdom King) to resolve the matter. Sprinkle water repeatedly to remove inauspiciousness. Therefore, at all times, one should employ the nectar-bestowing deity.

At that time, Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva Mahasattva (Great Bodhisattva), having spoken this Dharma, all the assembly together praised, 'Excellent, excellent, Great Being! You are able to speak this secret mantra for the benefit and happiness of all sentient beings. We rejoice and also wish to receive and uphold it.' At that time, the assembly rejoiced, leaping and circling the Buddha three times, paying homage and departing.
