如是我聞。一時世尊在補陀落迦山聖觀自在菩薩宮中。彼有無數大娑羅樹。多摩羅樹瞻波迦樹。阿輸迦樹阿提目多迦樹。如是等種種寶樹而為嚴飾。與大苾芻眾一百八十萬。菩薩九十俱胝那庾多百千。復有自在大自在等諸梵天子。及無數百千凈光天子。如是等眾恭敬圍繞聽受說法。
爾時聖觀自在菩薩摩訶薩從座而起。偏袒右肩右膝著地。向佛合掌恭敬頂禮。熙怡微笑前白佛言。世尊我有陀羅尼名不空王是秘密心。乃往過去九十一劫之前。我于普觀世界觀自在王如來所親從聽受。時彼如來為無數百千諸梵天子並凈光天子眾。教授阿耨多羅三藐三菩提法。我于爾時證得不空智等百千三摩地門。世尊若諸方處有此秘密心陀羅尼宣通流佈。當知是處有大自在等一萬二千天子密作衛護。是處即同有諸佛塔。應當尊重恭敬供養。又若有人以此不空王秘密心陀羅尼廣流佈者。當知是人已於無數

【English Translation】 English version The Sutra of the Holy Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva's Amogharaja Secret Heart Dharani Spoken by the Buddha
Translated by Shi Hu, the Purple-Robed Minister, Great Master of Dharma Transmission, Senior Official of the Ministry of Rites, and Censor of the Court, under Imperial Decree, from the Western Regions.
Thus have I heard. At one time, the World Honored One was in the palace of the Holy Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva (Arya Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva) on Mount Potalaka (Potalaka Mountain). There were countless great Sala trees (Sala tree), Tamala trees (Tamala tree), Champaka trees (Champaka tree), Ashoka trees (Ashoka tree), and Atimuktaka trees (Atimuktaka tree), and such various precious trees adorned the palace. He was with a great Bhikshu Sangha of one million eight hundred thousand, and ninety koti nayuta hundreds of thousands of Bodhisattvas. Moreover, there were Brahma sons such as the Great自在 (Greatly Autonomous One) and the Great自在 (Greatly Autonomous One), as well as countless hundreds of thousands of Pure Light Devas. Such beings respectfully surrounded the World Honored One, listening to the Dharma.
At that time, the Holy Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva Mahasattva rose from his seat, bared his right shoulder, knelt on his right knee, and, with palms joined, respectfully prostrated to the Buddha. With a joyful smile, he addressed the Buddha, saying: 'World Honored One, I have a dharani called Amogharaja (Amogharaja), which is the secret heart. In the past, ninety-one kalpas ago, I personally heard it from the Sarvalokavalokitesvara-raja-tathagata (Sarvalokavalokitesvara-raja-tathagata). At that time, that Tathagata was teaching the Dharma of anuttara-samyak-sambodhi (anuttara-samyak-sambodhi) to countless hundreds of thousands of Brahma sons and the assembly of Pure Light Devas. At that time, I attained hundreds of thousands of samadhi (samadhi) gates, such as the Unfailing Wisdom. World Honored One, if this secret heart dharani is proclaimed and circulated in various places, it should be known that in that place, there are twelve thousand devas, such as the Great自在 (Greatly Autonomous One), secretly protecting it. That place is like having stupas of all Buddhas, and should be respected, revered, and offered to. 俱胝那庾多百千佛所深種善根。又若有人暫得聞此陀羅尼者。是人設復謗佛謗法。及謗菩薩聲聞緣覺等諸賢聖。廣造如是極重罪業。當墮阿鼻地獄者。若能志心於一日中清凈不食。依法持誦此陀羅尼。如是等罪皆得銷滅。又若有人患諸瘧病。若一日二日乃至七日。或複眼痛耳痛鼻痛頭痛。或復疥癩瘡癬癰疽腫皰。及為一切非人邪鬼。執魅持捉禁縛打擲。咒咀期克邪說惑亂。以要言之。總集一切身病心病。乃至夢中見不祥事者。以此陀羅尼加持力故。悉得銷滅無能為害。世尊又復若諸剎帝利婆羅門吠舍首陀。如是等族姓中設有諂誑心者。於此陀羅尼亦許聽受書寫讀誦。乃至一切傍生異類。亦應為彼念此陀羅尼令其得聞。聞已隨應皆獲利益。況復有諸發生清凈信解心者。苾芻苾芻尼優婆塞優婆夷。志心聽受此陀羅尼邪。又復有人。若於此陀羅尼秘密章句諦心思念。時應當離諸過失。所謂不謗不讚不生疑惑。起離我心無久近心。無造作心無染污心無高下心。住如是心作唸佛觀。彼人即於十方各見千佛為現其前。世尊若諸白衣舍中。有是陀羅尼經處。若主若仆見是經已。設生輕易或復戲笑。以我威神力故。令其自然得聞此陀羅尼聲。世尊譬如有人取栴檀香。或復龍腦或復麝香。持以敲打或復剉斫。又以咒詞而為咒咀。復于粗獷

【English Translation】 English version: Having deeply planted roots of goodness in the presence of hundreds of thousands of kotis (koti, ten million), nayutas (nayuta, ten million) of Buddhas. Furthermore, if someone temporarily hears this Dharani, even if that person slanders the Buddha, slanders the Dharma, and slanders Bodhisattvas, Sravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and all other virtuous sages, and extensively creates such extremely heavy karmic offenses that they should fall into Avici Hell, if they can wholeheartedly, for one day, purify themselves by fasting and ritually recite this Dharani, all such offenses will be extinguished. Moreover, if someone suffers from various malarial diseases, whether for one day, two days, or even seven days, or suffers from eye pain, ear pain, nose pain, headache, or suffers from scabies, leprosy, ringworm, carbuncles, swellings, and blisters, and is possessed, deluded, imprisoned, bound, beaten, or cursed by all non-human beings and evil spirits, or is deceived and disturbed by heretical teachings, in short, all physical and mental illnesses, and even seeing inauspicious events in dreams, through the power of this Dharani's blessings, all will be extinguished and no harm will come to them. World Honored One, furthermore, if those of the Kshatriya (kshatriya, warrior/ruling class), Brahmana (brahmana, priestly class), Vaishya (vaishya, merchant class), and Shudra (shudra, servant class) castes have deceitful and flattering minds, they are also permitted to hear, write, and recite this Dharani, and even all sentient beings of different kinds should have this Dharani recited for them so that they may hear it. After hearing it, they will all receive corresponding benefits, let alone those who develop pure faith and understanding. Bhikshus (bhikshu, monks), Bhikshunis (bhikshuni, nuns), Upasakas (upasaka, laymen), and Upasikas (upasika, laywomen), do they wholeheartedly listen to and receive this Dharani? Furthermore, if someone carefully contemplates the secret verses of this Dharani, at that time they should be free from all faults, that is, not slandering, not praising, not doubting, generating a mind free from self, without a mind of long or short duration, without a mind of fabrication, without a mind of defilement, without a mind of superiority or inferiority, abiding in such a mind, and contemplating the Buddha, that person will see a thousand Buddhas appearing before them in each of the ten directions. World Honored One, if in the homes of laypeople, there is a place where this Dharani scripture is kept, whether the master or the servant, upon seeing this scripture, if they develop a mind of contempt or ridicule, through my majestic spiritual power, let them naturally hear the sound of this Dharani. 石上而以研磨。用涂身份。或有人言。勿須敲打剉斫咒呾研磨。栴檀等香既涂身已。其香常在。世尊我此不空王秘密心陀羅尼亦復如是。設或有人雖生輕易或復戲笑。乃至無誠實心。但能供養此陀羅尼者。彼人以是供養善根力故。世世所生常得戒定慧等。諸蘊具足妙香芬馥。複次若有苾芻苾芻尼優婆塞優婆夷等。欲受持此不空王秘密心陀羅尼時。應于白月八日依法安佈壇場供養。行人當須清凈不食。以無緣心誦此秘密心陀羅尼七遍。是人當得二十種功德。一者當於富貴中生。二者生已所有宿世業病速得銷滅。三者常得身胑細滑妙好。諸根隱密人所愛樂。四者得大財利。五者所有財寶不為盜取。六者所有財寶不為火焚水溺。七者常得田疇增廣。八者其田稼穡不為雷雹損傷。九者其田不為惡雨霖澍。十者色力精神無所損耗。十一者常得一切眾生尊重愛樂。十二者不為一切怨對所怖。十三者設有怨對速疾除解。十四者不為一切非人所怖。十五者不為惡病纏縛。十六者不為拏枳你怖。十七者遠離一切煩惱等事。十八者不於水火刀兵毒害中死。十九者在處常得諸賢聖等密作衛護。二十者在在所生常得不離慈悲喜捨。如是名為二十種功德。
複次世尊若有持誦此陀羅尼者。別得八種善相。一者臨命終時我作苾芻相為現其前。
二者臨命終時目不動亂身心安隱。三者臨命終時手不拏空足不蹴地。亦無大小便利穢污狼藉。四者不覆面死。五者臨命終時安住正念。六者臨命終時不離善友。七者命終已后諸佛剎中隨愿往生。八者當生獲得無盡辯才。如是名為八種善相。
複次世尊。若有人能清凈不食。遠離五辛一切葷雜。于日三時中念此陀羅尼三遍。一切所求皆得成就。又若有人隨應得聞此不空王秘密心陀羅尼正法已。若能斷諸慳嫉除去一切垢染。發清凈心尊重歸命秘密護持者。是人當得墮菩薩數。善為眾生作大饒益。畢竟當成佛菩提果。世尊此言菩提者即是正慧。薩埵者即是方便。若得如是慧及方便二法具足。即能為眾生作饒益事。
爾時聖觀自在菩薩摩訶薩復白佛言。世尊我今樂欲于如來前。宣說所有秘密心陀羅尼。普令會中四眾得聞利益安樂。及餘一切作罪業者亦獲善利。
佛告聖觀自在菩薩摩訶薩言。清凈大士汝應善說今正是時。如來今日亦當隨喜。乃至后末世中。與修菩薩乘者為善依怙。
是時聖觀自在菩薩欣然舉目瞻仰世尊。前白佛言。此會諸菩薩眾。應善諦聽復當歸命。此解脫輪能與多人利益安樂。悲愍世間善作一切大利樂事。我今宣說此陀羅尼。我先歸命過去未來現在三世善住諸佛菩薩。及彼三世一切

這時,聖觀自在菩薩摩訶薩(Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva Mahāsattva)又對佛說:『世尊,我現在樂意在如來面前,宣說所有的秘密心陀羅尼,普遍讓法會中的四眾弟子(比丘、比丘尼、優婆塞、優婆夷)都能夠聽聞,得到利益安樂,以及其餘一切造作罪業的人也能獲得善利。』
佛告訴聖觀自在菩薩摩訶薩(Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva Mahāsattva)說:『清凈的大士,你應該好好宣說,現在正是時候。如來今天也會隨喜讚歎,乃至在後來的末法時代中,給修習菩薩乘的人作為好的依靠。』
這時,聖觀自在菩薩(Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva)欣然地舉目瞻仰世尊,上前對佛說:『這次法會中的各位菩薩大眾,應當好好地聽,還要歸命。這解脫之輪能夠給很多人利益安樂,悲憫世間,好好地做一切大利益安樂的事情。我現在宣說這個陀羅尼,我首先歸命過去、未來、現在三世善住的諸佛菩薩,以及他們三世的一切……』
【English Translation】 English version: Secondly, at the time of death, their eyes will not be disturbed, and their body and mind will be peaceful. Thirdly, at the time of death, their hands will not grasp at empty space, their feet will not kick the ground, and there will be no incontinence of urine or feces, causing a messy and filthy situation. Fourthly, they will not die face down. Fifthly, at the time of death, they will abide in right mindfulness. Sixthly, at the time of death, they will not be separated from good friends. Seventhly, after death, they will be reborn in the Buddha-fields according to their wishes. Eighthly, in their next life, they will obtain inexhaustible eloquence. These are called the eight kinds of auspicious signs.
Furthermore, World Honored One, if someone can maintain purity and abstain from food, avoiding the five pungent spices (garlic, onions, leeks, chives, and asafoetida) and all meat and impure foods, and recites this Dharani three times during the three periods of the day, all their wishes will be fulfilled. Moreover, if someone is fortunate enough to hear this 'Infallible King Secret Heart Dharani' Dharma, and if they can cut off all stinginess and jealousy, remove all defilements, generate a pure mind, respect and take refuge, and secretly uphold it, that person should be able to enter the ranks of Bodhisattvas, well perform great benefits for sentient beings, and ultimately attain the fruit of Buddha's Bodhi. World Honored One, the Bodhi spoken of here is Right Wisdom; Sattva (Bodhisattva) is Skillful Means. If one can obtain both wisdom and skillful means, they can do beneficial things for sentient beings.
At that time, the Holy Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva Mahāsattva again said to the Buddha: 'World Honored One, I am now happy to proclaim all the secret heart Dharanis before the Tathagata, so that the fourfold assembly (bhikshus, bhikshunis, upasakas, and upasikas) in this gathering can hear them, obtain benefits and peace, and that all those who commit sinful deeds may also obtain good benefits.'
The Buddha told the Holy Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva Mahāsattva: 'Pure Great Being, you should speak well, now is the right time. The Tathagata will also rejoice today, and even in the later Dharma-ending age, will be a good refuge for those who cultivate the Bodhisattva path.'
At that time, the Holy Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva joyfully raised his eyes to look up at the World Honored One, and stepped forward to say to the Buddha: 'The Bodhisattva assembly in this gathering should listen well and take refuge. This wheel of liberation can give many people benefits and peace, have compassion for the world, and do all great beneficial and joyful things well. I will now proclaim this Dharani, I first take refuge in all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas who dwell well in the past, future, and present three times, and all of their three times...'
聲聞緣覺。又復歸命無量光如來應供正等正覺。歸命慈氏等諸菩薩摩訶薩。歸命大智舍利子等諸阿羅漢。即說陀羅尼曰。

世尊,我此陀羅尼,悉能成就一切事業。若常持誦者,所作皆能克成。又若有人造五無間業(指殺父、殺母、殺阿羅漢、破和合僧、出佛身血五種極重罪業),彼人若能每日三時誦此陀羅尼,是諸業障悉得清凈。若欲作結界法者,當以此陀羅尼加持沉香,依法而用。若欲禁止瘧病者,當加持灰水,或佉禰啰木(一種樹木)作橛,依法而用。若欲息除一切病者,當加持酥油或水,涂摩等用。若欲禁止迦枯哩那鬼(一種鬼)所持病者,當加持刀,依法而用。若欲作諸擁護法者,當加持線,依法而用。若欲止腹

World Honored One, this dharani of mine is capable of accomplishing all undertakings. If one constantly recites it, whatever they do will be successfully achieved. Furthermore, if someone commits the five heinous offenses (killing one's father, killing one's mother, killing an Arhat, disrupting the Sangha, and drawing blood from the body of a Buddha), if that person can recite this dharani three times a day, all their karmic obstacles will be purified. If one wishes to perform a boundary-establishing ritual, they should use this dharani to bless agarwood and use it according to the Dharma. If one wishes to prevent malaria, they should bless ash water or use Khadira wood (a type of tree) to make a stake and use it according to the Dharma. If one wishes to eliminate all illnesses, they should bless ghee, oil, or water and use it for smearing, etc. If one wishes to prevent illnesses caused by the Kakkurina ghost (a type of ghost), they should bless a knife and use it according to the Dharma. 複次成就法。當用勝香最勝香。無畏手香帝手香。嚩嚕尼香諾俱梨香。那俱梨香畢利煬虞香。多誐覽香等。並月王藥妙喜樂。輪藥大輪藥。尾瑟努訖蘭多藥。
如上諸香藥取以和合而作一丸。以此

其次是成就法。應當用勝香、最勝香、無畏手香、帝手香、嚩嚕尼香(Varuni,一種香)、諾俱梨香(Nokuli,一種香)、那俱梨香(Nakuli,一種香)、畢利煬虞香(Priyangu,一種香)、多誐覽香(Tagara,一種香)等,以及月王藥、妙喜樂輪藥、大輪藥、尾瑟努訖蘭多藥(Vishnu-kranta,一種藥)。
如上所說的各種香藥,取來混合在一起,製作成一個丸。
【English Translation】 English version For pain, bless salt water and drink it according to the ritual. If you want to eliminate all kinds of evil poisons, you should bless earth or bless water and use it according to the ritual. If you want to remove eye diseases, bless a white thread and tie it to the ear. If you want to remove toothache, bless a toothbrush made of Karavira (a plant) wood and use it. Also, if you want to perform a boundary ritual, you should take five-colored threads, bless them twenty-one times, and use pegs made of Khadira (a tree) wood to nail them in the four directions as boundaries. Then take that thread and measure the extent of the boundary, and the boundary ritual will be completed. Also, if you want to perform a protection ritual, you should bless water, or ashes from a tomb, or clean threads, and use them as appropriate. If you want to release various possessions by spirits, bless five-colored threads and use them according to the ritual. Also, if you want to remove various malarial diseases, bless white threads and use them according to the ritual. If you want to relieve scrofula and various sores and swellings, bless Piper longum (a spice) and mix it with honey, and use it for smearing and other methods. Also, if you want to remove eye diseases, bless scented water or licorice water, or use water soaked with Palasha (a tree) leaves. If you want to pacify various fights and lawsuits, bless clean water and wash your face with it. If you want to protect the king's territory, prevent various invasions, and gain great victory, you should choose a beautiful bottle, place it in a clean place, fill it with water, and set up various offerings. The practitioner should wear clean clothes and recite this Dharani for blessing. Then take the water from the bottle and sprinkle it everywhere, so that the territory will be peaceful, disasters will not arise, and both humans and animals will be protected. If you want to undo various evil seals, you should bless sandalwood powder twenty-one times and apply it to your heart, and you will be released. If you want to create protection for your own residence, you should use lotus flowers to perform the homa ritual. If you want to subdue various difficult-to-subdue people, you should use sandalwood to perform the homa ritual.
Next is the method of accomplishment. You should use excellent incense, the most excellent incense, fearless hand incense, emperor's hand incense, Varuni (a fragrance), Nokuli (a fragrance), Nakuli (a fragrance), Priyangu (a fragrance), Tagara (a fragrance), etc., as well as Moon King medicine, Wonderful Joy Wheel medicine, Great Wheel medicine, and Vishnu-kranta (a medicine).
Take all the above-mentioned incenses and medicines, mix them together, and make them into a pill.
陀羅尼加持一百八遍。若有人為諸鬼神執魅怖畏。或帶頂上或帶臂上即能衛護。若有女人將欲產生。取前香藥碎為其末。依法加持同入水中。當用澡浴即得產生。勝福德子安隱無難。諸不祥事皆得銷滅。又復生已善作擁護。離諸苦惱惡毒不生。設有所生速疾除遣。若初生童子欲作擁護者。取前香藥丸依法加持。帶其頂上即能擁護。若欲禁止風雲雷雹者。當取嚩嚕尼樹枝。入凈水中依法加持已。次執其枝而用散灑。
世尊我此秘密心陀羅尼。能作最上成就。如上所說一切法用悉無不成。設使持誦未精熟者亦得成就。
複次宣說本尊成就法。若人慾見我身求成就者。當於白月十五日依法作㡧。以上好不雜彩色畫我形像。如大自在天相。頂戴寶冠鹿皮為絡腋。一切珍寶而為莊嚴。如是畫已依法安布。行人當於彼㡧像前。以瞿摩夷作曼拏羅。散諸妙華以八種香安置供養。又復排設六十四種出生飲食。所用清凈離諸血肉腥雜穢污。燒沉水香。行人應當晝夜不食。一日三時澡沐身體著新凈衣。諦心專注獻供養已。于㡧像前念此陀羅尼一千八十遍。然後諦想本尊儀相。乃見自身有大熾焰。行人見已心生歡喜。須臾即見我身來現其前。施諸所求悉令圓滿。行人爾時當用雌黃。或安膳那藥而用點眼。即能隱身亦得騰空。自在

【English Translation】 English version Recite the Dharani one hundred and eight times. If someone is possessed by various ghosts and spirits and feels fear, wearing the Dharani on the head or arm will provide protection. If a woman is about to give birth, take the aforementioned fragrant herbs, grind them into powder, consecrate them according to the Dharma, and put them in water for bathing. This will ensure a smooth delivery, resulting in a son with excellent merit, safe and without difficulty. All inauspicious events will be eliminated. Furthermore, after the child is born, provide good protection, keeping them away from all suffering, and preventing the arising of evil influences. Even if such influences arise, they will be quickly removed. If one wishes to protect a newborn child, take the aforementioned fragrant herbal pills, consecrate them according to the Dharma, and place them on the child's head for protection. If one wishes to prevent wind, clouds, thunder, and hail, one should take a branch of the Varuni tree (meaning: a tree used in Vedic rituals), put it in clean water, consecrate it according to the Dharma, and then hold the branch and sprinkle the water.
World Honored One, this secret heart Dharani can accomplish the highest achievements. All the applications of the Dharma as described above will be successful. Even if the recitation is not yet proficient, one can still attain accomplishment.
Furthermore, I will explain the method for achieving the deity. If someone wishes to see my form and seek accomplishment, they should, on the fifteenth day of the white month (Shukla Paksha), create a Mandala (meaning: a sacred diagram) according to the Dharma. Use high-quality, unmixed colors to paint my image, resembling the form of Maheshvara (meaning: The Great Lord, a name for Shiva). Adorn the head with a jeweled crown, use deer skin as a shoulder covering, and decorate with all kinds of precious jewels. After painting in this way, arrange it according to the Dharma. The practitioner should create a Mandala (meaning: a sacred diagram) with cow dung in front of the image on the Mandala (meaning: a sacred diagram), scatter various beautiful flowers, and arrange offerings with eight kinds of incense. Also, arrange sixty-four kinds of newly produced foods, using pure foods free from blood, meat, fishy odors, and defilement. Burn agarwood incense. The practitioner should abstain from food day and night, bathe the body three times a day, and wear new and clean clothes. With a sincere and focused mind, offer the offerings, and then recite this Dharani one thousand and eighty times in front of the image on the Mandala (meaning: a sacred diagram). Then, carefully visualize the appearance of the deity, and one will see a great blazing flame around oneself. Upon seeing this, the practitioner will feel joy in their heart. Soon, one will see my form appear before them, granting all that they seek, fulfilling their desires. At that time, the practitioner should apply realgar (meaning: arsenic sulfide) or Anjana (meaning: a medicinal ointment) to the eyes, which will enable them to become invisible and to fly freely in the sky.
證入不空智莊嚴三摩地門。隨諸所欲一切所作皆得圓滿。

【English Translation】 English version: Entering the Samādhi-mukha (三摩地門, the gate of Samādhi) adorned with the wisdom of non-emptiness, all actions are perfectly fulfilled according to all desires.
After the Buddha spoke this Sutra, the Ārya Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva-mahāsattva (聖觀自在菩薩大菩薩, the Holy Avalokiteśvara, the great Bodhisattva), and the remaining Brahmā (梵天, Brahma) and other deities such as the Greatly自在, the Śuddhābhāsa-devaputra (凈光天之子, the son of Pure Light Heaven), along with all the Bodhisattvas, Śrāvakas, and the entire assembly, hearing what the Buddha had spoken, were all greatly rejoiced, faithfully accepted, and practiced accordingly.
