'Praise to the One Hundred and Eight Names of the Holy Tara Bodhisattva'
Translated by the Shramana-Minister Tian Xizai, recipient of the Purple Robe, Tripitaka Master of Mingjiao Monastery in Jalandhara, Central India, under Imperial Decree
Wholeheartedly I take refuge, most auspicious and pleasing. Mount Potalaka (Potalaka, the abode of Avalokiteśvara), its realm adorned with all kinds of precious jewels, all kinds of precious forest trees, branches and vines densely hanging, possessing all kinds of accomplishments, wonderful kusuma flowers (kusuma, a type of flower), their light shining everywhere, possessing all kinds of ponds and marshes, streams flowing with all kinds of sounds, also possessing all kinds of colors, fragrant elephants and deer kings, bee kings with wonderful singing voices, Kinnara girls with beautiful melodies, Gandharvas playing music, holy devas and people, Munis, crowds detached from desire, constantly gather within it, together with the assembly of Bodhisattvas and those自在at the tenth bhumi, Holy Tara Bodhisattva (Tara), together with a thousand bright consorts, Wrathful Great Vidyarajas, Hayagriva and others surrounding, At that time, the Holy Virtuous One, Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva (Avalokiteśvara), for the benefit of all sentient beings, having fully cultivated great practices, one who possesses loving-kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity, dwells in that womb-treasury birth, on an auspicious lotus seat, peacefully and serenely sitting, and for the masses of humans and devas, expounds the wonderful Dharma. At that time, Vajrapani (Vajrapani), the mighty wrathful king, out of compassion for others, asked Avalokiteśvara, 'Lions, elephants, tigers, snakes, water, fire, thieves, shackles,' 'such as these eight difficulties, how can lazy and inferior sentient beings' 'be liberated from, being for long in the ocean of samsara?' 'Greed, hatred, delusion, and so on, entangled by the bonds of samsara,' 'if they can be liberated, I say that capable one' 'is respected by the world.' At that time, Avalokiteśvara emitted a beautiful and wonderful sound, awakening Vajrapani.

Prajñāpāramitādevīye, āryatārā, manorama, nundubhi, śaṁkhini, pūraṇa, vidyārājñi, parivāraṇa, candranana, mahāgauri, artha, pitavasasa, mahāmāya, mahāśveta, mahābalaparākrama, mahārudra, mahācaṇḍa, duṣṭasattva (all sentient beings). 以說此百八 寂靜秘密名 能利諸有情 希有秘福田 天上及人間 亦甚難逢遇 令一切有情 瞻視得安樂 智者應一心 澡浴凈其身 三時專唸誦 時彼人不久 得王所愛敬 離苦得安樂 貧者獲財寶 愚得大智慧 聰睿不復疑 枷鎖得解脫 不勝還得勝 冤返為善友 鋒牙及利角 斗諍並險難 種種怖畏等 憶念此名者 能救是諸怖 止息中天命 名稱得廣佈 恒生善貴族 彼惟獨一身 或因行坐臥 當獲人稱譽 壽命得時長 人間受快樂 天龍及藥叉 羅剎犍闥嚩 臭神食穢神 噁心摩怛嚕 女魅拏明努 塢娑怛羅等 癲癇及膊行 吠怛拏大鬼 拏枳你等神 及余噁心者 不敢越其影 何況鬥戰處 暴惡之有情 禁咒及幻術 悉不能侵害 自在有威德

宣說了這一百零八個寂靜秘密名號, 能夠利益所有有情眾生,是稀有難得的秘密福田。 無論天上還是人間,都極難遇到。 能令一切有情眾生,瞻仰觀視而得安樂。 智者應當一心一意,沐浴潔凈自身, 在三個時辰里專心念誦,這樣的人不久之後, 就能得到國王的愛敬,遠離痛苦獲得安樂。 貧窮的人獲得財寶,愚笨的人得到大智慧, 聰明睿智的人不再有疑惑,被枷鎖束縛的人得到解脫。 不能勝過的人能夠得勝,怨家變為善良的朋友。 面對鋒利的牙齒和尖銳的角,爭鬥以及危險困境, 種種怖畏等情況,憶念這些名號的人, 能夠救脫這些怖畏,止息中斷的壽命。 名稱得到廣泛傳播,恒常出生在善良高貴的家族。 這個人即使獨自一人,或者因為行走坐臥, 都將獲得人們的稱讚,壽命得以延長。 在人間享受快樂,天龍以及藥叉(Yakṣa,夜叉), 羅剎(Rākṣasa,羅剎)犍闥婆(Gandharva,乾闥婆),臭神、食穢神, 噁心的摩怛嚕(Mātṛ,母神),女魅拏明努(Ḍākinī,空行母), 塢娑怛羅等,癲癇以及膊行, 吠怛拏大鬼(Vetāla,毗陀羅),拏枳你等神, 以及其餘心懷惡意者,不敢越過他的身影, 更何況在爭鬥戰鬥之處,那些暴惡的有情眾生。 禁咒以及幻術,都不能夠侵害他, 他將自在且具有威德。

Having spoken these one hundred and eight silent secret names, It can benefit all sentient beings, it is a rare and precious secret field of merit. Whether in the heavens or in the human realm, it is extremely difficult to encounter. It can enable all sentient beings to gaze upon it and attain peace and happiness. The wise should be single-minded, bathe and purify themselves, And recite attentively during the three periods of the day; such a person will soon, Gain the love and respect of the king, and be freed from suffering and attain happiness. The poor will obtain wealth, the foolish will gain great wisdom, The intelligent and wise will no longer have doubts, and those bound by shackles will be liberated. Those who cannot overcome will be able to overcome, and enemies will turn into good friends. Facing sharp teeth and pointed horns, conflicts and dangerous situations, And all kinds of fears, those who remember these names, Will be able to escape these fears and stop interrupted lifespans. Their name will be widely spread, and they will constantly be born into good and noble families. Even if this person is alone, or because of walking, sitting, or lying down, They will receive praise from people, and their lifespan will be extended. They will enjoy happiness in the human realm, and the Nāgas (dragons) and Yakṣas (night spirits), Rākṣasas (demons), Gandharvas (celestial musicians), foul-smelling spirits, filth-eating spirits, Evil-minded Mātṛs (mother goddesses), female demons Ḍākinīs (sky dancers), Uṣātaras, epilepsy and those who crawl on their elbows, Vetālas (ghosts), Ḍākinīs and other spirits, And other malicious beings, will not dare to cross their shadow, Let alone in places of conflict and battle, those violent sentient beings. Spells and illusions will not be able to harm them, They will be free and possess power and virtue.
