如是我聞。一時佛住摩竭提界寂滅道場菩提樹下。與比丘僧大眾俱集。其名曰大智舍利弗。長老目揵連。長老阿難。大聲聞等。及諸菩薩摩訶薩眾。金剛幢菩薩。金剛藏菩薩。彌勒菩薩。如是賢劫諸大菩薩摩訶薩眾。時執金剛神白佛言。世尊如來應供正遍知者。如實知見是善方便陀羅尼咒光明威力。勢能摧滅一切諸惡。無覆護者能作覆護。若遇一切惡緣知識。毒龍諸鬼夜叉羅剎。及多那若鳩槃茶人非人等。怖畏刀杖怨家橫害。邪魅𥜒禱不能嬈亂。至四威儀行住坐臥不捨眾生。如我今者侍衛如來未曾暫離。是陀羅尼於一切時。覆護眾生利益眾生。初不放舍亦復如是。是故我今勸請如來說此陀羅尼。此陀羅尼即是菩薩即是大乘。何以故若善男子善女人。無覆護者能為覆護。悉滅一切斗訟繫縛諸抂橫故。
是時佛告執金剛神。善哉善哉執金剛神如汝所說。乃能如是為眾生故勸請如來。汝今諦聽當爲汝說善法方便陀羅尼咒。爾時世尊即說咒曰。

【English Translation】 English version: Thus I have heard. At one time, the Buddha was dwelling in the realm of Magadha, at the Bodhimanda of Nirvana, under the Bodhi tree, together with a gathering of monks and a great assembly. Their names were: Great Wisdom Sariputra (Sariputra), Elder Maudgalyayana (Maudgalyayana), Elder Ananda (Ananda), these great Sravakas, and various Bodhisattvas Mahasattvas, Vajradhvaja Bodhisattva (Vajradhvaja Bodhisattva), Vajragarbha Bodhisattva (Vajragarbha Bodhisattva), Maitreya Bodhisattva (Maitreya Bodhisattva), such as these great Bodhisattvas Mahasattvas of the Bhadrakalpa. Even in the four postures (walking, standing, sitting, lying down), it does not abandon sentient beings. Just as I now attend upon the Tathagata, never having left even for a moment. This Dharani at all times protects sentient beings, benefits sentient beings, and never abandons them in the beginning, and so it is. Therefore, I now urge the Tathagata to speak this Dharani. This Dharani is the Bodhisattva, it is the Mahayana. Why? If good men and good women, those without protection, can be provided with protection, and all disputes, bonds, and various unjust calamities can be extinguished.' At this time, the Buddha said to Vajrapani: 'Excellent, excellent, Vajrapani, just as you have said, you are able to urge the Tathagata for the sake of sentient beings. Now listen carefully, I will speak for you the Dharani mantra of skillful means of good Dharma.' At that time, the World Honored One then spoke the mantra, saying: 'Uku, Mauku, Mavini, Madani, Bharacale.'

是時如來應正遍知。說是莊嚴大頂勝王陀羅尼已。告執金剛。汝當如是憶念受持。如來今當更為汝說。即說咒曰。

At that time, the Tathagata, the worthy one, the all-knowing one, having spoken the 'Adornment Great Crown Supreme King Dharani', told Vajrapani (a Bodhisattva who represents the power of all Buddhas): 'You should remember and uphold it in this way. The Tathagata will now further speak for you.' Immediately, he spoke the mantra:

時執金剛即白佛言。唯然世尊我當受持。

說是咒已告執金剛。如是善法陀羅尼咒如來所說。為利一切諸眾生故。大慈悲故。我今當更為汝說之。如昔如來應正遍知如是妙說。去來今佛之所印可誠實不虛。爾時世尊即放大人眉間相光。遍照一切諸佛剎土。是光所照普能利益無量眾生。彼方諸佛見是光已。各從坐起咸共尋光來至忍土。至此土已同聲贊言。善哉釋迦牟尼世尊善能付囑。利益安樂一切眾生。善哉善哉釋迦如來應正遍知。為利一切諸眾生故。為覆護故為照明故。為令眾生得歡喜故。說是善法陀羅尼咒。我等諸佛所說章句亦皆如是。善哉釋迦能廣施者。若善男子及善女人。聞是善法陀羅尼咒欲得利益。應于晨朝受持讀誦。即為我等諸佛所護。若有誦持此咒之處則為吉祥。我等諸佛皆在中故。若諸眾生先來所造。極重惡業皆滅無餘。能令此諸善男子等。具足

這時,世尊即從眉間放出大人相光(urna,佛的三十二相之一,位於兩眉之間),遍照一切諸佛剎土(Buddha-kshetra,佛所居住的國土)。這光所照之處,普遍能夠利益無量眾生。彼方諸佛見到這光后,各自從座位上起身,一同尋找光明來到娑婆世界(Saha world,我們所居住的這個世界)。到達此土后,同聲讚歎道:『善哉,釋迦牟尼世尊(Sakyamuni Buddha),善於付囑,利益安樂一切眾生。善哉善哉,釋迦如來應正遍知,爲了利益一切諸眾生,爲了覆護,爲了照明,爲了令眾生得歡喜,說是善法陀羅尼咒。我等諸佛所說章句也都是這樣。善哉釋迦,能廣施者。』
『若有善男子及善女人,聽聞這善法陀羅尼咒想要得到利益,應當在早晨受持讀誦,即為我等諸佛所護。若有誦持此咒的地方,就是吉祥之地,因為我等諸佛都在其中。若諸眾生先前所造的極重惡業,都能滅除無餘,能令這些善男子等,具足…』

At that time, Vajrapani (the Diamond Handed One, a Dharma protector in Buddhism) said to the Buddha: 'Yes, World Honored One, I shall uphold this mantra.'
迦致多(one) 波致多(two) 阿夷那(three) 呵唎瞻婆尼(four) 柯葛旦尼(five) 頞哆(retroflex) 阿呵尼(six) 末伽毗嚧呵尼(seven) 休娑婆帝(eight) 復娑婆帝(nine) 嘻(pronounced as xi-li) 利(ten) 嘻利(eleven) 耶他嗜(twelve) 耶他忌尼(thirteen) 耶他波爛遮(fourteen) 耶他婆檐(fifteen) 耶他憘陀檐(sixteen)
After reciting the mantra, the Buddha told Vajrapani: 'This Good Dharma Dharani mantra is spoken by the Tathagata (Buddha), for the benefit of all sentient beings, out of great compassion. I shall now further explain it to you. Just like the past Tathagata Arhat Samyaksambuddha (title of the Buddha) so wonderfully proclaimed, it is approved by the Buddhas of the past, present, and future, and is true and not false.'
At that time, the World Honored One emitted a great light from the urna (one of the 32 marks of the Buddha, located between the eyebrows) between his eyebrows, illuminating all Buddha-kshetras (Buddha-fields, the lands where Buddhas reside). Wherever this light shone, it universally benefited immeasurable sentient beings. Upon seeing this light, the Buddhas of those lands each arose from their seats and together sought the light, arriving at the Saha world (the world we live in). After arriving in this land, they praised in unison: 'Excellent, Sakyamuni Buddha (the historical Buddha), skillful in entrusting, benefiting and bringing peace to all sentient beings. Excellent, excellent, Sakyamuni Tathagata Arhat Samyaksambuddha, for the benefit of all sentient beings, for protection, for illumination, for bringing joy to sentient beings, this Good Dharma Dharani mantra is spoken. The verses spoken by us Buddhas are also like this. Excellent Sakyamuni, the one who can give generously.'
'If there are good men and good women who hear this Good Dharma Dharani mantra and desire to obtain benefits, they should uphold and recite it in the morning, and they will be protected by us Buddhas. If there is a place where this mantra is recited, it is an auspicious place, because we Buddhas are all present within it. If all sentient beings have created extremely heavy evil karma in the past, it can all be extinguished without remainder, enabling these good men and women to be complete with...'
獲得二十善利。一者現得長壽。二者舍宅安隱。三者名譽遠聞。四者現得尊貴。五者多宜財寶。六者威貌殊勝。七者勇捍無畏。八者無諸疾病。九者安隱快樂。十者進行無倦。十一者諸佛護念。十二者諸天守護。十三人所愛敬。十四現見諸佛。十五善友所護。十六毒害不加。十七惡鬼降伏。十八怨敵自消。十九眷屬成就。二十善愿從心。如是執金剛。是陀羅尼咒即是諸佛微密藏處。一切諸佛之所護念。真實不虛微妙善說。
時執金剛神白佛言。世尊我于如來所說神咒。亦當隨喜信樂演說。所以者何是陀羅尼神咒勢力。無覆護者能為覆護。多利益故。為如是等諸善男子善女人故。我今當更演說善法陀羅尼咒。欲得安樂及求度者。是諸行人應于晨朝受持讀誦。則得神咒擁護之力。必當永離一切苦惱。即說咒曰。

【English Translation】 English version To obtain twenty benefits: First, to obtain longevity in this life. Second, the home is peaceful and secure. Third, reputation spreads far and wide. Fourth, to obtain honor and nobility in this life. Fifth, to have abundant wealth and treasures. Sixth, majestic appearance is outstanding. Seventh, courageous and fearless. Eighth, to be free from all diseases. Ninth, peaceful and happy. Tenth, to advance diligently without weariness. Eleventh, to be protected and念 by all Buddhas. Twelfth, to be guarded by all the devas (gods). Thirteenth, to be loved and respected by people. Fourteenth, to see all the Buddhas in this life. Fifteenth, to be protected by good friends. Sixteenth, poisons cannot harm. Seventeenth, evil spirits are subdued. Eighteenth, enemies will naturally disappear. Nineteenth, family members will be complete and successful. Twentieth, all good wishes will be fulfilled. Thus, Vajrapani (a Dharma protector in Buddhism), this Dharani mantra is the secret treasury of all Buddhas, protected and念 by all Buddhas, true and not false, wonderfully and well spoken.
At that time, Vajrapani (a Dharma protector in Buddhism) said to the Buddha: 'World Honored One, I should also rejoice, believe, and expound the divine mantra spoken by the Tathagata.' Why? Because this Dharani mantra has great power, it can provide protection for those who have no protection, and it can bring many benefits. For the sake of these good men and good women, I should now expound the Good Dharma Dharani mantra again. Those who wish to obtain peace and happiness and seek liberation, these practitioners should receive, uphold, and recite this mantra in the morning, and they will obtain the power of the mantra's protection, and will surely be forever free from all suffering.' Then he spoke the mantra:

At that time, the World Honored One told Vajrapani (a Dharma protector in Buddhism):
剛。善哉善哉執金剛神。是陀羅尼最神最驗。為諸眾生是故說之。此陀羅尼神咒威力。悉能障蔽一一毛孔。令諸龍鬼一切疾疫。眾邪毒氣不能得入。亦能為作解脫因緣。
爾時三千大千界主大梵天王。即從座起為佛作禮。合掌向佛而白佛言。善哉世尊我今亦樂讚揚隨喜利益成就。諸善男子行此咒者。應于晨朝受持讀誦是陀羅尼。如今世尊為欲利安擁護如是諸眾生故。說此善法陀羅尼咒時。大梵王即說咒曰。

說是咒已即白佛言。大德勝尊如是所說陀羅尼咒能悉擁護。是善男子及善女人。亦能令得增益壽命。是故行者應當晨朝。如法讀誦修行受持。爾時釋提桓因復白佛言。世尊我今亦欲利益擁護如是善男子故。說是陀羅尼者諸佛世尊之所護念。是故行者若欲得是陀羅尼咒功德利者。應于晨朝讀誦受持。是時帝釋即說咒曰。

爾時復有四大天王毗沙門天王提

『毗尼婆啰泥(一) 婆陀磨讕帝(二) 致致致(三) 懼利乾陀唎(四) 摩啰摩羅婆(五) 呵那末彈陀羅尼(六) 陀羅摩利尼(七) 斫迦婆呮(八) 扇跋唎(九) 扇婆唎莎呵(十)』

【English Translation】 English version: Just so. Excellent, excellent, Vajrapani (the deity holding the vajra). This Dharani (a mnemonic device) is the most miraculous and effective. It is spoken for the sake of all sentient beings. The power of this Dharani mantra is capable of shielding each and every pore, preventing dragons, ghosts, all diseases, and evil toxins from entering. It can also create the conditions for liberation.
At that time, the Great Brahma King, lord of the three thousand great thousand worlds, immediately rose from his seat, paid homage to the Buddha, and, with palms joined, said to the Buddha: 'Excellent, World Honored One, I am now also pleased to praise, rejoice in, benefit, and bring to fruition those virtuous men who practice this mantra. They should receive, uphold, recite, and chant this Dharani in the morning. Now, the World Honored One, for the sake of benefiting, bringing peace, and protecting such sentient beings, speaks this virtuous Dharma Dharani mantra.' At that time, the Great Brahma King spoke the mantra:
'[噓予]li (1) Mi li (2) Zhi li soha (3) [口梵]mo fu li soha (4) [口梵]mo [口譬] soha (5) Bo jie [口*譬] (6) Fu ba seng da li soha (7)'
After speaking the mantra, he said to the Buddha: 'Great Virtue, Supreme Honored One, this Dharani mantra, as spoken, is capable of fully protecting these virtuous men and virtuous women, and can also increase their lifespan. Therefore, practitioners should, in the morning, recite, practice, receive, and uphold it according to the Dharma.' At that time, Shakra Devanam Indra (the lord of the devas) again said to the Buddha: 'World Honored One, I now also wish to benefit and protect these virtuous men, and therefore speak this Dharani, which is protected and cherished by all Buddhas, World Honored Ones. Therefore, if practitioners wish to obtain the merit and benefits of this Dharani mantra, they should recite and uphold it in the morning.' At that time, Indra spoke the mantra:
'Vini bara ni (1) Ba tuo mo lan di (2) Zhi zhi zhi (3) Ju li qian tuo li (4) Mo la mo la po (5) He na mo dan tuo luo ni (6) Tuo luo mo li ni (7) Zhuo jia po chi (8) Shan ba li (9) Shan po li soha (10)'

頭賴吒天王毗樓勒叉天王毗樓博叉天王。合掌恭敬而白佛言。我等四王亦當為護是善男子善女人等。樂欲修行是善方便陀羅尼者。彼諸眾生亦應晨朝受持讀誦。爾時四王即說咒曰。

爾時釋迦牟尼如來。即舉右手告天帝釋大梵天王及四護世。善哉善哉大德諸天乃能於是善法方便陀羅尼王隨喜演說。如此善法陀羅尼者。皆是諸佛之所護念。汝等應當常善受持。
爾時世尊又復重告執金剛神。善哉善哉執金剛神。是善方便及得長壽陀羅尼咒。此三咒者。皆是十方諸佛如來之所護念稱讚印可。諸天天王大力鬼神之所守護。若善男子善女人等。欲修行者。應當自凈身口意已。于晨朝時以殷重心。如法受持凈心讀誦。能如是者不見天龍諸惡人鬼。有能加害得其便者。爾時菩薩聲聞大眾執金剛神。及諸天王一切鬼神龍王夜叉人非人等。咸共恭敬皆大歡喜受持奉行。

With palms together, respectfully said to the Buddha: 'We, the Four Great Kings, shall also protect these good men and good women, who delight in practicing this skillful means of the Dhāraṇī. You should always uphold it well.' At that time, the World-Honored One again told the Vajrapāṇi (Vajra-holding spirit): 'Excellent! Excellent! Vajrapāṇi, this skillful means and the longevity-attaining Dhāraṇī mantra, these three mantras, are all protected, praised, and approved by the Tathāgatas of the ten directions. They are guarded by the heavenly kings and powerful ghosts and spirits. If good men and good women wish to practice them, they should purify their body, speech, and mind, and in the morning, with earnest hearts, receive, uphold, and recite them with pure minds according to the Dharma. Those who can do so will not be harmed by nāgas (mythical serpent beings), evil people, ghosts, or spirits, and they will not be able to take advantage of them.' At that time, the Bodhisattvas (enlightenment-seeking beings), Śrāvakas (disciples who hear and follow the teachings), Vajrapāṇi, and all the heavenly kings, all the ghosts and spirits, nāga kings, yakṣas (a type of spirit), humans, non-humans, and others, all respectfully rejoiced and received and practiced it.
