如是我聞。一時佛在摩伽陀國成正覺地金剛座大靈塔處普光明殿大菩提道場。與大聲聞眾千二百五十人俱。其名曰尊者舍利子。尊者大目乾連。尊者大迦旃延。尊者大迦葉。尊者阿難。尊者羅睺羅。尊者護國。尊者離婆多。尊者周利盤陀伽。尊者憍梵波提。尊者跋羅墮舍。尊者迦留陀夷。尊者阿泥嚕馱。如是等尊者皆是大阿羅漢。復有無量無邊大菩薩眾。其名曰。
金剛幢菩薩摩訶薩。金剛藏菩薩摩訶薩。金剛手菩薩摩訶薩。金剛步菩薩摩訶薩。慈氏菩薩摩訶薩。如是等菩薩摩訶薩。皆是賢劫中大菩薩眾。爾時金剛手菩薩摩訶薩。于大眾中從座而起。詣世尊前合掌頂禮。而白佛言唯愿如來應正等覺。當爲利益安樂一切眾生故。宣說延壽妙門陀羅尼正法。此陀羅尼正法。乃與我及眾生。作光明照。復為救護。使彼一切惡魔伺求便者及諸惡等。所謂噁心者瞋怒心者。極惡心者罪業心者。苦惱心者不慈心者。乃至天龍夜叉乾闥婆阿修羅迦樓羅摩睺羅伽。羅剎部多毗舍遮必隸多鳩

'Buddha Speaks of the Wonderful Door Dharani Sutra for Prolonging Life'
Translated by Tripitaka Master Fa Xian of the Mingjiao Monastery, Grand Master of Court Service, Acting Vice President of the Court of Imperial Sacrifices, from the Western Regions, under Imperial Decree
Thus have I heard. At one time, the Buddha was in the Magadha country, at the place of enlightenment, the Vajra Seat, the Great Sacred Stupa, in the Universally Bright Hall, the Great Bodhi Mandala. He was with a great assembly of Shravakas, twelve hundred and fifty in all. Their names were: Venerable Sariputra, Venerable Maudgalyayana, Venerable Mahakatyayana, Venerable Mahakasyapa, Venerable Ananda, Venerable Rahula, Venerable Protector of the Nation, Venerable Revata, Venerable Culapanthaka, Venerable Gavampati, Venerable Bharadvaja, Venerable Kalodayin, Venerable Aniruddha. These venerable ones were all great Arhats. Moreover, there were immeasurable and boundless great Bodhisattvas. Their names were:
Vajradhvaja Bodhisattva Mahasattva, Vajragarbha Bodhisattva Mahasattva, Vajrapani Bodhisattva Mahasattva, Vajrapada Bodhisattva Mahasattva, Maitreya Bodhisattva Mahasattva. These Bodhisattva Mahasattvas were all great Bodhisattvas of the Bhadrakalpa. At that time, Vajrapani Bodhisattva Mahasattva, arose from his seat in the assembly, went before the World Honored One, joined his palms, bowed his head in reverence, and said to the Buddha: 'May the Tathagata, the worthy, perfectly enlightened one, for the sake of benefiting and bringing peace and happiness to all sentient beings, expound the Wonderful Door Dharani Right Dharma for Prolonging Life. This Dharani Right Dharma will bring light and illumination to us and all sentient beings, and will also protect us, enabling us to be free from those evil demons who seek opportunities to harm us, and from all kinds of evil deeds, such as those with evil minds, those with angry minds, those with extremely evil minds, those with sinful minds, those with suffering minds, those with unkind minds, and even devas-nagas, yakshas, gandharvas, asuras, garudas, mahoragas, rakshasas, bhutas, pisacas, pretas, and ku-'
盤荼人及非人。如是等諸噁心者皆不能侵。又復刀兵毒藥一切疾病亦不能為害。又復行住坐臥或語或默。於一切處救護安隱。愿為我等宣說延壽妙門陀羅尼。何以故此陀羅尼有大威力。承此威力我于如來。常深尊重承事供養。及救護一切眾生。世尊我今為諸眾生作大利益。是故勸請世尊。若有善男子善女人求菩薩乘者。得此陀羅尼至心受持。是人當得如來覆護。或在戰陣斗諍疾病中夭。如是等難皆不能侵害。
爾時世尊即受金剛手菩薩請已。贊言善哉善哉金剛手。甚善甚善金剛手。汝為利益一切眾生至誠勸請。汝今諦聽當爲汝說延壽妙門陀羅尼正法。金剛手若有善男子善女人。欲為受持讀誦延壽妙門陀羅尼正法者。先須持誦如來灌頂陀羅尼。即說灌頂陀羅尼曰。

【English Translation】 English version: Neither Pandakas (eunuchs) nor non-humans can intrude upon him. Moreover, weapons, poisons, and all diseases cannot harm him. Furthermore, whether walking, standing, sitting, or lying down, whether speaking or silent, he is protected and secure in all circumstances. I wish that the World-Honored One would proclaim the Dharani of the Wonderful Gate of Prolonging Life for us. Because this Dharani has great power. Relying on this power, I will always deeply respect, serve, and make offerings to the Tathagata, and protect all sentient beings. World-Honored One, I am now acting for the great benefit of all sentient beings, therefore I urge the World-Honored One. If there are good men or good women seeking the Bodhisattva path, who obtain this Dharani and sincerely uphold it, these people will receive the protection of the Tathagata. Even dangers such as dying prematurely in battles, conflicts, or illnesses cannot harm them. At that time, the World-Honored One, having accepted the request of Vajrapani Bodhisattva, praised him, saying: 'Good! Good! Vajrapani. Very good! Very good! Vajrapani. You sincerely urge for the benefit of all sentient beings. Now listen carefully, I will proclaim to you the Correct Dharma of the Dharani of the Wonderful Gate of Prolonging Life.' Vajrapani, if there are good men or good women who wish to receive, uphold, and recite the Correct Dharma of the Dharani of the Wonderful Gate of Prolonging Life, they must first recite the Tathagata's Consecration Dharani. 爾時世尊說是延壽妙門陀羅尼已。告金剛手菩薩言。此延壽妙門陀羅尼。乃是過去諸佛正等正覺。為利益一切眾生故。常當受持為人宣說。是過去諸佛互相隨喜發誠實誓。我亦如是為欲利益一切眾生故。說此陀羅尼正法。
爾時世尊說是語已。即于眉間放一大人相光。普照十方一切佛剎。而彼佛剎皆同一光。光所照處諸佛世尊各離本土。須臾之頃悉來至此娑婆世界。雲集如來說法之處。是十方佛咸皆贊言。善哉善哉世尊釋迦牟尼佛。為利益一切眾生故。宣說延壽妙門陀羅尼正法。與諸眾生作于明照。使令歡喜俾得記念。亦能除滅一切魔冤。此陀羅尼如佛所說我亦受持。
複次若有善男子善女人。發至誠心常能受持此陀羅尼。于清旦時依法讀誦者。是人獲得二十種功德。若有愛藥如是功德者。當勤精進依法讀誦。如上功德決定獲得。云何名為二十種功德。一者當持諸佛。二者承事供養諸佛。三者所有一切罪業悉皆消滅。四者深解妙法。五者獲得長壽六者名稱普聞七者獲大富貴。八者獲大勢力。九者常得無病。十者具大精進。十一者諸天見重。十二者諸佛憐愛。

【English Translation】 English version: Nāya (Refuge) Namo (Homage) Parinirṣṭa (Perfected) Sarva (All) Duṣṭa (Evil) Pratiśīdanāya (For the rejection).
At that time, after the World Honored One finished speaking this Longevity Wonderful Dharma Dhāraṇī, he said to Vajrapāṇi Bodhisattva: 'This Longevity Wonderful Dharma Dhāraṇī is what all the Buddhas of the past, the Fully Enlightened Ones (Sammasambuddha, Perfectly Enlightened Ones), spoke for the benefit of all sentient beings. It should be constantly upheld and proclaimed to others. This is the sincere vow made by the Buddhas of the past, rejoicing with each other. I, too, am like them, speaking this Dhāraṇī Dharma for the benefit of all sentient beings.'
At that time, after the World Honored One finished speaking these words, he immediately emitted a light of a great person's mark from between his eyebrows, universally illuminating all Buddha-lands (Buddhakṣetra, Buddha-fields) in the ten directions. All those Buddha-lands became the same light. Wherever the light shone, all the World Honored Buddhas each left their own lands and, in a very short time, all came to this Sahā World (Sahā World, the world we live in), gathering at the place where the Tathāgata was teaching the Dharma. All the Buddhas of the ten directions praised, saying: 'Excellent! Excellent! World Honored Śākyamuni Buddha, for the benefit of all sentient beings, proclaims the Longevity Wonderful Dharma Dhāraṇī, bringing light and illumination to sentient beings, causing them to rejoice and be able to remember it, and also eliminating all the harm of demons. This Dhāraṇī, as the Buddha has said, I also uphold.'
Furthermore, if there are good men and good women who, with sincere hearts, constantly uphold this Dhāraṇī, and recite it according to the Dharma in the early morning, these people will obtain twenty kinds of merits. If someone loves such merits, they should diligently and vigorously recite it according to the Dharma. The merits mentioned above will definitely be obtained. What are the twenty kinds of merits? First, they are always protected by all the Buddhas. Second, they serve and make offerings to all the Buddhas. Third, all their sins are eliminated. Fourth, they deeply understand the wonderful Dharma. Fifth, they obtain longevity. Sixth, their name is universally known. Seventh, they obtain great wealth and nobility. Eighth, they obtain great power. Ninth, they are always free from illness. Tenth, they possess great diligence. Eleventh, they are respected by the devas (gods). Twelfth, they are loved by all the Buddhas.

【English Translation】 English version Thirteenth, one obtains good deeds. Fourteenth, one obtains good benefits. Fifteenth, one acts as light. Sixteenth, one is made joyful. Seventeenth, one is made memorable. Eighteenth, one's body is endowed with excellent marks. Nineteenth, one obtains fearlessness. Twentieth, one is complete with all good roots.
Furthermore, the Buddha told Vajrapani Bodhisattva (Vajrapani Bodhisattva), saying, 'This is the supreme secret Dharma Dharani verses of all Tathagatas, perfectly enlightened. Because it is a Dharani, I proclaim it. It can well eliminate all demonic grievances. All Buddhas uphold it.'
At that time, Vajrapani Bodhisattva (Vajrapani Bodhisattva) made a sincere vow and, with palms together, said to the Buddha, 'World Honored One, I now rely on the Buddha's divine power and wish to provide protection and benefit to all sentient beings. I also rejoice in proclaiming the Dharani verses of the wonderful gate of prolonging life. World Honored One, if there is someone who sincerely upholds and recites it according to the Dharma in the early morning, that person will always be protected, and even if demons seek an opportunity, they will not be able to invade. 複次佛告金剛手菩薩摩訶薩言。若有善男子善女人。發至誠心。常于清旦。依法讀誦。如是等延壽妙門陀羅尼。是人當得一切如來加持擁護。乃至一切天王龍王夜叉王阿修羅王迦樓羅王乾闥婆王緊那羅王摩睺羅伽王持明天王。乃至一切人非人等悉皆愛重。於一切處常當擁護獲得安隱。

Each of them bowed to the Buddha and said, 'World Honored One, we four kings, empowered by the Buddha's divine strength, also wish to benefit and bring peace and happiness to all good men and good women. We joyfully proclaim the Dhāraṇī of the Wondrous Gate of Longevity. If there are those who, in the early morning, with utmost sincerity, recite this Dhāraṇī according to the Dharma, we four kings will always protect them, ensuring they have no obstacles and attain peace.' Then they spoke the Dhāraṇī:
怛[寧*也]他(一) 補瑟閉(二合引) 蘇補瑟閉(二合引二) 度摩波哩賀(引)哩(引三) 阿哩也(二合) 缽啰(二合)設悉帝(二合引四) 扇(引)帝(引五) 莽(引)誐羅也(二合) 你目訖帝(二合引) 窣睹(二合)帝(引) 窣睹(二合)帝(引) 莎(引)賀(引六)
At that time, the World Honored One extended his wondrously colored right arm and stroked the heads of Mahābrahmā and the Four Guardian Kings, saying, 'Excellent! Excellent! You, Mahābrahmā and the Guardian Kings, for the sake of benefiting and bringing peace and happiness to all sentient beings, and for the sake of protecting and upholding the Buddha Dharma, have well spoken such subtle and wondrous verses of the Dhāraṇī.'
Furthermore, the Buddha told Vajrapāṇi Bodhisattva Mahāsattva, 'If there are good men and good women who, with utmost sincerity, regularly recite such Dhāraṇīs of the Wondrous Gate of Longevity in the early morning, these people will receive the blessings and protection of all Tathāgatas, and even all Deva-rājas, Nāga-rājas, Yakṣa-rājas, Asura-rājas, Garuda-rājas, Gandharva-rājas, Kinnara-rājas, Mahoraga-rājas, Vidyādhara-rājas, and even all humans and non-humans, will love and respect them. In all places, they will always protect them, ensuring they attain peace.'
After the Buddha finished speaking this Sutra, Vajrapāṇi Bodhisattva Mahāsattva and all the
聲聞。乃至大梵護世一切天人阿修羅乾闥婆人非人等。聞佛所說皆大歡喜信受奉行。

【English Translation】 English version: The Śrāvakas (Disciples who attain enlightenment by listening to the Buddha's teachings), and even Mahābrahmā (The highest deity in the Form Realm), the Lokapālas (The Four Heavenly Kings who protect the world), and all devas (gods), Asuras (demigods), Gandharvas (celestial musicians), humans, non-humans, and others, hearing what the Buddha said, were all greatly rejoiced, deeply believed, accepted, and practiced accordingly.
