爾時持世菩薩。白佛言世尊。若復有人受持讀誦此陀羅尼者。云何受持愿佛演說。
爾時世尊告持世言。若復有人。于初二月白月一日。于彼獨注入海之河。乃入水中。水至乳已面東向日合掌而立。始從日出限至日沒。誦持此咒。從水出已。絕食七日。日夜誦持勿共人語。然後乃畫持世本形。將欲涂彩。用珍重心。以白栴檀香水涂絹。乃經一宿。表心供養。命畫匠師令受齋戒。澡浴新衣。起珍重心。依法莊彩。像高十肘。橫廣三肘。色彩深綠。座于蓮華。莊嚴無量。色彩鮮潔。光明如日。右手執果。左手安慰。容貌熙怡。座前龍王。手捧寶匣真珠寶瓶珊瑚碼瑙金銀琉璃種種眾寶。凈心供養。上安諸天。寶雲雨網。大吉祥天手捧蓮華右邊安慰。吉祥寶掌左邊侍立。形色圓滿瓔珞嚴身。手捧蓮華作安慰相。持世之像舍利處安。閼伽香水種種細食花鬘酥油然燈供養。複用妙花酥油香燈飲食種種供養頻那及於夜伽。希無魔事。伸供養已。複用檀栴沉水及諸妙香酥香油燈無量供養。面對觀想菩薩

【English Translation】 English version The Holy Sarvadhara Dharani Sutra

At that time, Sarvadhara Bodhisattva (持世菩薩) said to the Buddha: 'World Honored One, if there are those who receive, uphold, read, and recite this dharani, how should they receive and uphold it? I wish the Buddha would explain it.'
At that time, the World Honored One told Sarvadhara Bodhisattva: 'If there are those who, on the first day of the white month in the first two months of the year, go to a river that flows alone into the sea, enter the water until it reaches their chest, face east, and stand with their palms together towards the sun. Starting from sunrise until sunset, they should recite this mantra. After coming out of the water, they should abstain from food for seven days, reciting it day and night, without speaking to anyone. Then, they should paint the original form of Sarvadhara Bodhisattva. When about to apply the colors, they should do so with a precious heart, using white sandalwood scented water to paint the silk, and after one night, express their inner offering. Order the painter to observe the precepts, bathe and change into new clothes, and with a precious heart, adorn the image according to the Dharma. The image should be ten cubits high and three cubits wide, with a deep green color, seated on a lotus flower, adorned immeasurably, with fresh and clean colors, and light like the sun. The right hand holds a fruit, and the left hand offers comfort. The appearance is peaceful and joyful. In front of the image, there is a Nagaraja (龍王) holding a treasure box containing genuine jewel bottles, coral, agate, gold, silver, lapis lazuli, and various treasures, offering them with a pure heart. Above, the devas (諸天) are placed, with treasure clouds and rain nets. Mahasri (大吉祥天女) holds a lotus flower, offering comfort on the right side. Auspicious Treasure Palm stands on the left side, with a complete form, adorned with necklaces, holding a lotus flower, making a gesture of comfort. The relics of Sarvadhara Bodhisattva are placed at the image. Offerings of arghya water, various fine foods, flower garlands, ghee lamps are made. Furthermore, offer wonderful flowers, ghee, incense lamps, food, and various offerings to Vinayaka (頻那夜迦) and Yaksha (夜叉), hoping that no demonic events will occur. After presenting the offerings, offer immeasurable sandalwood, white sandalwood, agarwood, and various wonderful incenses, ghee incense, and oil lamps. Contemplate the Bodhisattva facing the image.'
像前。志心專注。端坐持誦。始從寅時。入于壇內。或一七日或二七日乃至一日。至日出時期愿必應悉皆成就。

【English Translation】 English version: Go forward. With sincere and focused mind, sit upright and recite. Starting from the Yin hour (3 AM to 5 AM), enter the altar. Continue for either seven days, fourteen days, or even just one day. By the time the sun rises, the wishes will surely be fulfilled, and all will be accomplished. At that time, the World Honored One told Dharanimdhara (a Bodhisattva's name): 'If there is someone who enters the water at midnight and recites this mantra eight hundred times, within that month, they will have all their wishes fulfilled.' The Buddha told Dharanimdhara (a Bodhisattva's name): 'If there is someone who recites the name of Dharanimdhara Bodhisattva (a Bodhisattva's name) at midnight according to the Dharma, and maintains cleanliness according to the Dharma, within six months, they will surely obtain their wishes.' The Buddha told Dharanimdhara (a Bodhisattva's name): 'If there is someone who hides their wealth and later forgets where it is, by reciting according to the Dharma, the wealth will surely be found.' The Buddha told Dharanimdhara (a Bodhisattva's name): 'If there is someone who desires to obtain a position of honor, they should enter the water during the day and recite this mantra. At midnight, they should use sesame seeds to perform a homa (a sacrificial ritual), reciting the mantra once for each sesame seed burned, up to eight hundred times. They will surely obtain great joy and abundant wealth.' The Buddha told Dharanimdhara (a Bodhisattva's name): 'If there is someone who mixes white mustard seeds with ghee, reciting the mantra once for each seed burned, performing the homa according to the previous method, the king will obtain joy and celebration, and the country will be free from disasters.' The Buddha told Dharanimdhara (a Bodhisattva's name): 'If there is someone who mixes fine frankincense with ghee and performs a homa, according to the previous method, it can quell all the calamities of the ministers.' The Buddha told Dharanimdhara (a Bodhisattva's name): 'If there is someone who, at midnight, sincerely recites the name of the Bodhisattva (a Bodhisattva's name), and maintains cleanliness according to the Dharma, within seven days, they will obtain great wealth and joy, and complete accomplishment.' 爾時世尊說此咒已。告持世言。所有印法以表心法。亦名外表。作此印時。用於兩手合掌虛中。複用頭指拳在中間。無名指豎。小指如計而互相交。中指形狀直量如針。此印形相住彼八方。各各相離。此持世軌儀之印。依法結印誦持明咒。一切所愿皆得成就。廣利有情。
爾時世尊而說咒曰。
唵(引)室哩(二合)曳室哩(二合引)迦哩馱曩迦哩馱(引)禰也(二合)迦哩薩嚩(二合引)賀(引)
爾時世尊。說此咒已。告持世言。此三昧印。應先合掌。用大母指。屈入掌內。此名持世。三昧之印。
爾時世尊而說咒曰。
唵(引)三么曳掃彌曳(二合)三么野迦哩么賀(引)三么曳薩嚩(二合引)賀(引)
爾時世尊告持世言。此三昧印神咒如是。
複次持世應用頭指。及於中指第三節屈。大母指豎。此印名為持世菩薩根本之印。召請聖賢。及送聖賢。皆作此印。
佛告持世。應用頭指向外橫舒。此名花印。爾時世尊而說咒曰。

【English Translation】 English version The assembly gathered and recited the mantra: 'Namo Ratna Trayaya Om Vasudhare Svaha Om Rakshmi Bhutala Ni Vasiniye Svaha' Then, the World Honored One, having spoken this mantra, said to Dhritarashtra (one of the Four Heavenly Kings, Guardian of the Nation): 'All mudra (hand gestures) methods are to express the mind-dhamma, also called external expressions. When making this mudra, use both hands in a hollow-centered Anjali mudra (palms together). Then, curl the index fingers into fists in the middle, raise the ring fingers, and cross the little fingers like counting. The shape of the middle fingers should be straight, with a length like a needle. The shape of this mudra should reside in the eight directions, each separated from the other. This is the mudra of Dhritarashtra's ritual. According to the Dharma, form the mudra and recite the mantra, and all wishes will be fulfilled, broadly benefiting sentient beings.' The Buddha told Dhrtarastra: This flower mudra mantra should be received and upheld in this way.
At that time, the World Honored One further told Dhrtarastra: If there is someone who should stretch out their middle fingers horizontally. This is called the incense mudra.
At that time, the World Honored One spoke this mantra:
Om Vasudhri Svaha: This is a mantra. 'Om' is the sound of the universe, 'Vasudhri' refers to the holder of the earth or wealth, and 'Svaha' means fulfillment or accomplishment.
At that time, after the World Honored One spoke this mantra, he told Dhrtarastra: If there is someone who stretches out their ring finger outwards, this is called the anointing mudra. At that time, the World Honored One spoke this mantra:
Om Vasumati Shriye Svaha: This is a mantra. 'Om' is the sound of the universe, 'Vasumati' refers to the earth, 'Shriye' refers to auspiciousness or prosperity, and 'Svaha' means fulfillment or accomplishment.
At that time, after the World Honored One spoke this mantra, he told Dhrtarastra: If there is someone who joins their little finger with their thumb, and stretches out the remaining three fingers like a three-pronged vajra (diamond scepter). This is called the lamp mudra.
At that time, the World Honored One spoke this mantra:
Om Vasudharani Svaha: This is a mantra. 'Om' is the sound of the universe, 'Vasudharani' refers to the earth-holder or world-holder, and 'Svaha' means fulfillment or accomplishment.
At that time, after the World Honored One spoke this mantra, he told Dhrtarastra: If there is someone who uses both hands as if scooping water, and crosses their thumbs, knotting them beyond the index fingers. This is called the food mudra.
At that time, the World Honored One spoke this mantra:
Om Dharani Dharani Svaha: This is a mantra. 'Om' is the sound of the universe, 'Dharani' refers to the total retention or dharani, and 'Svaha' means fulfillment or accomplishment.
At that time, after the World Honored One spoke this mantra, he told Dhrtarastra: All other offerings should use the root mudra, and be blessed with the mantra. If it is used frequently, then use the common mantra and mudra to bless it.
If there is someone who paints an image of Dhrtarastra Bodhisattva, they should use new, fine, and flawless silk, measuring it according to the length of the Buddha's arm, about two feet long and one foot wide. Place a Buddha image above the image, with an Avalokiteshvara (Guanyin) Holy Self-Existing image on the right, and a Vajrapani (Diamond Hand) image on the left. Place the Dhrtarastra image in the middle of the Buddha image. The color of the image is golden. The Bodhisattva's right hand makes the wish-granting gesture, adorned with various ornaments.
種真珠琉璃乃至碼瑙皆用嚴飾。于下右邊安誦持人。右手頂禮。左手持冠。于白月內圖畫菩薩。於此誦持一十萬遍。隨力供養。
爾時世尊告持世言。若復有人將欲種田。誦持之人澡浴新衣。受持齋戒。以菩薩像安在田中。複用涂香花鬘瓔珞細妙飲食珍重供養。念菩薩名至八百遍。又于像前加持香水。誦八百遍。滿注賢瓶安在像前。令種田人及牛耒[耒*目]行列而立。以賢瓶水乃用灑之。並誦持人灑之亦爾。令誦持人繞此田地及彼人牛。行於七匝。然可下子。
爾時世尊告持世言。若復有人將欲收田。于地四隅安僧令齋。飲食如法。此誦持人沐浴凈衣。受持齋戒。複用尊像安置田中。複用華香燈燭飲食種種供養。誦咒加持滿八百遍。
復于像前香水滿瓶。誦八百遍。復加持之。菩薩尊像面東安置。涂香酥油花鬘飲食凈心供養。谷實倍增。離諸災難。
爾時世尊告持世言。若復有人。於此谷聚。四隅之間安四童女。著新凈衣。素食令齋。誦持此咒而加持之。谷亦增多。災難不侵。
複次持世。若量谷時。彼人想念菩薩尊號。若誦持人不得出聲。默唸專志。量畢已來亦乃倍增。
佛告持世。若復有人。田初熟時。應先供養佛及聖眾。增福無量不可稱讚。
爾時世尊告持世言

【English Translation】 English version: Adorn (the Buddha image) elaborately with pearls, lapis lazuli, and even agate. Place the person who recites and holds (the mantra) on the lower right side (of the image). Bow with the right hand. Hold the (Bodhisattva's) crown with the left hand. Draw a Bodhisattva image within a white moon disc. Recite and hold (the mantra) facing this (image) one hundred thousand times. Make offerings according to your ability.
At that time, the World Honored One told Dharanimdhara (a Bodhisattva's name): 'If someone intends to plant fields, the person who recites and holds (the mantra) should bathe, wear new clothes, and observe the precepts of fasting. Place the Bodhisattva image in the field. Then, use scented paste, flower garlands, necklaces, and fine, wonderful food to make precious offerings. Recite the Bodhisattva's name up to eight hundred times. Also, bless the scented water in front of the (Bodhisattva) image, reciting (the mantra) eight hundred times. Fill a virtuous vase with (the scented water) and place it in front of the image. Let the person planting the field, as well as the oxen and plows, stand in rows. Sprinkle them with the water from the virtuous vase. The person who recites and holds (the mantra) should also sprinkle. Let the person who recites and holds (the mantra) walk around this field, as well as those people and oxen, seven times. Then, seeds can be sown.'
At that time, the World Honored One told Dharanimdhara (a Bodhisattva's name): 'If someone intends to harvest the field, place monks in the four corners of the field, have them observe the precepts of fasting, and provide them with food according to the Dharma. This person who recites and holds (the mantra) should bathe, wear clean clothes, and observe the precepts of fasting. Then, place the (Bodhisattva) image in the field. Then, use flowers, incense, lamps, candles, food, and various offerings. Recite the mantra and bless (the field) eight hundred times.'
Again, place a bottle filled with scented water in front of the (Bodhisattva) image, recite (the mantra) eight hundred times. Bless it again. Place the Bodhisattva image facing east. Offer scented paste, ghee, flower garlands, and food with a pure heart. (In this way) the grain will increase many times and be free from all disasters.
At that time, the World Honored One told Dharanimdhara (a Bodhisattva's name): 'If someone, in the four corners of this pile of grain, places four young girls, dressed in new and clean clothes, eating vegetarian food, and having them observe the precepts of fasting. Recite this mantra and bless the grain, the grain will also increase, and disasters will not invade.'
Furthermore, Dharanimdhara (a Bodhisattva's name), when measuring grain, that person should think of the Bodhisattva's honorable name. If the person who recites and holds (the mantra) does not make a sound, but silently and attentively recites. After the measuring is finished, the grain will also increase many times.
The Buddha told Dharanimdhara (a Bodhisattva's name): 'If someone, when the field is first ripe, should first make offerings to the Buddha and the Sangha, (in this way) the increased blessings will be immeasurable and beyond praise.'

複次持世。於此庫藏陳設新食。香花供養。受持讀誦此陀羅尼。離諸災難。複次持世。若復有人。而用彩帛書寫持世陀羅尼經。複用香薰讀誦頂戴。增福無量。息除災難。
佛告持世。若人誦持。應先凈心誦八百遍。此陀羅尼日三時誦。所愿必應。菩薩加祐。
複次持世。若復有人。求諸所愿。于自所止向東北隅。起聖持世菩薩形像。用妙彩帛依法圖寫。乃至工畢潔凈安置。志心供養閼伽香水涂香燒香栴檀沉水種種眾香。複用五寶及用五藥乃至五穀。閼伽之瓶以帛覆上。勿開此瓶。依法誦持此陀羅尼。一切所愿悉皆滿足。財物增長。獲福無量。

Within this warehouse, arrange various items, and then burn various wonderful incenses, as well as various flowers, argha water (a type of offering water), parasols, banners, and various offerings. Then place a Bodhisattva inside the warehouse, and sprinkle milk inside the warehouse, reciting the dharani, removing various inauspicious things, and then place the wealth and grains inside, bringing auspiciousness, peace, and no misfortune. Furthermore, Chih Shih (a Bodhisattva's name), arrange fresh food, incense, and flowers as offerings in this treasury, and uphold, recite, and chant this dharani, staying away from all disasters. Furthermore, Chih Shih (a Bodhisattva's name), if there is someone who writes the Chih Shih Dharani Sutra on colored silk, and then fumigates it with incense, recites it, and wears it on their head, their blessings will increase immeasurably, and disasters will be eliminated. At that time, the Bodhisattva Dhrtarashtra and all the holy assembly, hearing what the Buddha had said, rejoiced immeasurably, bowed their heads to the Buddha's feet, and faithfully received and practiced it.
