南無一切利益尊者文殊師利童子菩薩摩訶薩咒曰。
闇婆計陀那(上)摩
於此文殊師利菩薩六字咒功能法。我今說。若有人每日誦此咒七遍。決定罪業得除滅。若有人能每日誦此咒一百八遍。其人臨命終時。現前見文殊師利菩薩。若有人受持此咒得成法者。先食菜或食乳糜。或食大麥子粥。或食大麥麨或乞食。每日平旦日午日沒三時洗浴。彆著一具凈衣。即誦此咒六十萬遍法即成就。於後不割斷溇楨上。其畫匠人受八戒。不用膠畫文殊師利菩薩。于蓮華上座說法之像。一切莊嚴具足。作童子形天衣褡左肩。于右應畫作聖觀自在菩薩。坐蓮華座手執拂。左邊應畫聖普賢菩薩。像上兩邊虛空。于雲中出咒仙手執花鬘作。畫像下應畫持咒人手執香爐。瞻仰文殊師利菩薩。其像四邊皆應作山峰。于菩薩座下。應作花池充滿蓮華。已後於舍利塔前面向西。安楨廣大供養已。用蘇燃燈。取阇提花一千八枚。取一一花各咒一遍於像面散。即有聲出聞微妙聲或楨動。若聞妙聲時得稱心。若楨動時一切諍論中得勝。一切世間言教皆通達。一切眾生皆愛樂。若不成此法。餘一

【English Translation】 English version 《Manjushri Bodhisattva Six-Syllable Mantra Functional Dharma Sutra》
Namo to all beneficial venerable Manjushri (Manjushri, meaning Wondrous Auspiciousness) Kumara Bodhisattva-Mahasattva (Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, meaning Great Bodhisattva), the mantra says:
Om Va Gi Da Na (up) Ma
Regarding the functional dharma of this Manjushri Bodhisattva six-syllable mantra, I now declare. If someone recites this mantra seven times daily, their karmic offenses will surely be eliminated. If someone can recite this mantra one hundred and eight times daily, this person, at the time of their death, will personally see Manjushri Bodhisattva. If someone upholds this mantra and is able to accomplish this dharma, first eat vegetables or milk porridge, or eat barley porridge, or eat roasted barley flour, or beg for food. Bathe at three times daily: at dawn, at noon, and at sunset. Separately wear a set of clean clothes, then recite this mantra six hundred thousand times, and the dharma will be accomplished. Afterward, do not cut off the branches of the Louzhen tree (a type of tree). Have the painter observe the eight precepts, and do not use glue to paint the image of Manjushri Bodhisattva preaching the Dharma on a lotus seat, with all adornments complete, in the form of a child, with a celestial robe draped over the left shoulder. On the right side, the holy Avalokiteshvara (Avalokiteshvara, meaning the Bodhisattva of Compassion) should be painted, seated on a lotus seat, holding a whisk in hand. On the left side, the holy Samantabhadra (Samantabhadra, meaning Universal Worthy Bodhisattva) should be painted. In the empty space on both sides of the image, mantra deities should appear in the clouds, holding flower garlands as offerings. Below the image, the mantra holder should be painted holding an incense burner, reverently looking up at Manjushri Bodhisattva. All four sides of the image should be depicted with mountain peaks. Below the Bodhisattva's seat, a flower pond filled with lotuses should be made. Afterward, in front of the stupa (Stupa, meaning Buddhist pagoda), facing west, place the Zhen wood, make extensive offerings, and then light lamps with ghee. Take one thousand and eight Jati flowers, and chant the mantra once for each flower, scattering them on the face of the image. Then a sound will be emitted, and one will hear a subtle sound or the Zhen wood will shake. If one hears a subtle sound, all wishes will be fulfilled. If the Zhen wood shakes, one will be victorious in all disputes, and one will be able to understand all worldly languages and teachings, and all beings will love and rejoice. If one cannot accomplish this dharma, there are other methods.
切事業皆不得成就。
又法沉香長八指任粗細。于蘇合香油涂。于以卻陀羅木炭無姻火中各咒一遍。從初夜至明相出時燒。即見文殊師利菩薩親自來。于咒師前隨所求皆與滿足。唯除淫慾。
又法于楨前以檀香晝夜燒不斷。誦此咒。文殊師利菩薩親來。為說甚深法皆得勝解。永離一切病得自在。得入菩薩地。
又法以紫檀長六指克作蓮華。更研紫檀末和水。涂之誦百千遍。至十五日夜滿月時。于楨前取花葉兩手葉花誦咒。至於頂上光出即取其花。令彼人成如二八十六歲人身相端嚴。金色光明過於千日。威光如天童子一切成就。咒仙皆恭敬壽命一劫。劫盡已后往生極樂世界。
又法于月蝕時。取白昌蒲根。以瞿妹耶糞乳酪蘇。比五和洗昌蒲根。洗已。賓缽羅樹葉果禮(下安四葉上著三葉)咒至或煙出或暖火焰出。若暖氣時。得眾生歡喜及一切論難皆勝。若煙出時。得安達底壽一萬年。若火焰出得升阿迦舍。壽一大劫。
又法取黃牛有犢子者。攢乳酪取蘇置熟銅器中。以賓缽羅七葉覆之咒之。如上煙等三事成就。即服此蘇。或多聞或安達羅。或升阿迦舍。
又法取布央迦羅子于月蝕。置日中含誦此咒。至子動時。取三種銅作珠作孔。內子于珠孔中含住。即安陀利出口。即見之。

Another method: Take agarwood that is eight fingers long, any thickness is acceptable. Smear it with Storax oil. Chant the mantra once for each burning with smokeless fire of 以卻陀羅 wood charcoal. Burn it from the beginning of the night until the appearance of the dawn. Then you will see Manjushri Bodhisattva (Manjushri Bodhisattva, symbol of wisdom) come in person. He will fulfill all requests in front of the mantra master, except for sexual desire.
Another method: Continuously burn sandalwood day and night in front of the image. Recite this mantra. Manjushri Bodhisattva (Manjushri Bodhisattva, symbol of wisdom) will come in person and speak profound Dharma, enabling one to gain excellent understanding, forever be free from all illnesses, attain freedom, and enter the stage of a Bodhisattva.
Another method: Carve a lotus flower from six-finger-long purple sandalwood. Grind more purple sandalwood into powder and mix it with water. Apply it to the lotus flower and recite the mantra one hundred thousand times. On the night of the fifteenth day, when the moon is full, take the flower and leaves in front of the image, hold the leaves and flower in both hands, and recite the mantra. When light emanates from the top of the head, take the flower. This will transform that person into someone like a sixteen-year-old youth, with a dignified appearance, golden light surpassing a thousand suns, and a majestic aura like a heavenly child. Everything will be accomplished. Mantra masters will respect him, and his lifespan will be one kalpa. After the kalpa ends, he will be reborn in the Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
Another method: During a lunar eclipse, take the root of white calamus. Wash the calamus root with a mixture of cow dung, milk, yogurt, and ghee. After washing, offer it with Bin-Bala tree leaves and fruit (place four leaves below and three leaves above). Chant the mantra until smoke, warmth, or flames appear. If warmth appears, one will gain the joy of all beings and be victorious in all debates. If smoke appears, one will obtain the lifespan of an Antara, lasting ten thousand years. If flames appear, one will ascend to Akasha (Akasha, the space) and have a lifespan of one great kalpa.
Another method: Take the ghee from a yellow cow that has a calf. Place the ghee in a well-cooked copper vessel. Cover it with seven Bin-Bala leaves and chant the mantra. If the three signs of smoke, warmth, and flames are accomplished as above, then consume this ghee. One will become either learned, an Antara, or ascend to Akasha (Akasha, the space).
Another method: During a lunar eclipse, take a 布央迦羅 seed and hold it in the sunlight while reciting this mantra. When the seed moves, make a bead from three types of copper, create a hole in the bead, and place the seed in the hole of the bead and hold it in your mouth. One will become an Antara, and upon opening the mouth, one will see it.
又法取釘香口含。誦此咒六十萬遍已。隨共人語所求皆得。
又法食乳大麥子或麨。誦咒一百二十萬遍。得成咒仙。
又法乞食不得語。滿十萬遍得安達地多。若誦咒滿一俱胝。即見聖者文殊師利菩薩如是說法。決定令得入一生補處大菩薩眾。若每常誦此咒。一切蒙利皆得成就。
又法取安悉香搗末。以蘇和為丸。如小棗作十萬丸。一一皆咒一遍。火中燒之至盡。即金錢十萬枚。
又法于流入海大河中。以一萬蓮華各咒一遍。擲置河中至盡。如彼蓮華數量寶伏藏見。得其藏受用無盡。
又法油麻以酪蘇和。一撮各各咒一遍。置火中至十萬遍。其人得財富。能施與一切物。
又法取未墮地瞿妹耶泥地作壇。以種種花散其上坐。每日誦咒一千八遍。即讀大乘經。至滿一月即得聰慧。
又法取牛黃咒一千八遍涂額上。一切眾生見者皆歡喜。于頂上發咒七遍結之。一切惡人不能損害。
又法取雞知摩羅果一萬顆。一一咒一遍。置火中燒至盡。一切諸病皆得除愈。

Another method is to hold cloves in your mouth. After reciting this mantra six hundred thousand times, whatever you ask for when speaking to people will be granted. Another method is to eat milk porridge or barley flour. Recite the mantra one million two hundred thousand times, and you will become a mantra-accomplished immortal. Another method is to not speak while begging for food. Recite it one hundred thousand times, and you will attain Andada Di Duo (Andada Di Duo, meaning unknown). If you recite the mantra one 'koti' (俱胝, koti, an ancient Indian unit of counting, equivalent to ten million) times, you will see the holy Manjushri Bodhisattva (文殊師利菩薩, Manjushri Bodhisattva) speaking the Dharma. You will definitely be able to enter the assembly of great Bodhisattvas who are in the 'Eka-jati-pratibaddha' (一生補處) stage. If you constantly recite this mantra, all benefits will be achieved. Another method is to take benzoin resin, grind it into powder, and mix it with ghee to make pills. Make ten thousand pills the size of small dates, and chant the mantra once for each one. Burn them in the fire until they are all gone, and you will receive one hundred thousand gold coins. Another method is to take ten thousand lotus flowers in a large river flowing into the sea, and chant the mantra once for each flower. Throw them into the river until they are all gone. You will discover a treasure trove equal to the number of lotus flowers. Once you obtain the treasure, you can enjoy it endlessly. Another method is to mix sesame seeds with yogurt and ghee. Take a handful and chant the mantra once for each handful. Place it in the fire until you have done this one hundred thousand times. That person will obtain wealth and be able to give away all things. Another method is to make an altar with cow dung mud that has not fallen to the ground. Scatter various flowers on it and sit on it. Recite the mantra one thousand and eight times every day. Then read the Mahayana sutras. After a full month, you will gain intelligence. Another method is to take cow-bezoar and chant the mantra one thousand and eight times, then apply it to your forehead. All sentient beings who see you will be delighted. Chant the mantra seven times over the top of your head and tie your hair. All evil people will not be able to harm you. Another method is to take one thousand 'Ji Zhi Mo Luo' fruits (雞知摩羅果, Ji Zhi Mo Luo fruit, meaning unknown). Chant the mantra once for each fruit. Place them in the fire and burn them until they are all gone. All diseases will be cured. One fascicle of 'The Six-Syllable Mantra Method of Manjushri Bodhisattva' (文殊師利菩薩) Based on the version from Mt. Baibi's Kousanji Temple. Copied at the Yuikyōe (遺教會) gathering at Daionji Temple (大報恩寺) in Rakuhoku. The Hachi-ke Roku (八家錄) records: 'The Sutra of the Six-Syllable Divine Mantra', one fascicle. The annotation says, or it is also called 'The Sutra of the Six-Syllable Mantra'. The Zhenyuan (貞元) era (Tang Dynasty). The Sanskrit translation (梵釋) is lacking. The annotation also says 'The Dharma of the Six-Syllable Mantra'. The title is 'The Six-Syllable Merit of Manjushri Bodhisattva'.

【English Translation】 English version: Dharma of Ability. Second volume of thin manuscript. Quoting this scripture.
On the 8th day of the second month, in the year of Otsu-mi (year 5) of the Tenmei era, written by Jinen (慈忍) of Tobu (東武) under Chishaku-rin (智積輪). In the eighth month of the autumn when the Genwa era was reformed, a request was made to copy the original order of Master Jinen. The transmission of light, etc., at Cishin-in (慈心院) of this mountain, verified and added to it. The teachings were further revised and imparted to the public throughout the land.
Shamon (沙門, monk) Kaido-shi (快道志) of Soji-ranja (總持蘭若) in Hase (長谷), Buzan (豐山).
Completed the first proofreading and added notes on the first day of the fourth month, in the year of Mizunoto-i (癸亥, year of the Pig) of the Genwa era, by Jishun (慈順).
