如是我聞。一時佛在王舍城耆阇崛山中。與大比丘眾千二百五十人俱。復有菩薩摩訶薩三萬六千而為上首。爾時世尊臨般涅槃后。佛法欲滅時。比丘比丘尼優婆塞優婆夷天龍八部。前後圍繞共會說法。當爾之時有執金剛神問其法要。世尊般涅槃后。總持法門云何受持。佛告執金剛神。善哉善哉。汝等金剛能為末劫眾生。問此利益之事。善思念之。吾當為汝分別解說利益之事當說法要。佛告執金剛神。夫欲受持總持法門者。及誦經典坐禪種種善法。第一清凈。第二常決定志誠。第三精勤不退。第四報佛慈恩。第五發弘大誓日夜精確報師僧父母恩。第六報菩薩恩。第七報金剛恩。第八報三十三天恩。第九報四大天王恩。第十報持咒仙人恩。佛告執金剛神言。我滅度后末法之時。眾生薄福三災競起。吾毒鬼神諸天魔等。南閻浮提振旦國中。諸惡鬼神及諸八萬四千天魔。一一魔有五千眷屬。南閻浮提殺害眾生無量無數。汝等金剛今於此會聞秘密之法。汝等金剛聞持咒方法。速先誦大輪金剛陀羅尼神咒。汝不持此法門者。一切諸咒縱令有驗。猶有行偽盜法之罪。滅度之後當落地獄受罪

【English Translation】 English version Thus have I heard. At one time, the Buddha was in Rājagṛha (王舍城), on Gṛdhrakūṭa Mountain (耆阇崛山), together with twelve hundred and fifty great bhikṣus (大比丘). There were also thirty-six thousand bodhisattva-mahāsattvas (菩薩摩訶薩), with [names] as their leaders. At that time, as the Bhagavan (世尊) approached parinirvāṇa (般涅槃), and as the Buddhadharma was about to decline, bhikṣus (比丘), bhikṣuṇīs (比丘尼), upāsakas (優婆塞), upāsikās (優婆夷), and the deva-nāga-aṣṭa-parṣad (天龍八部) surrounded him, gathering together to expound the Dharma. At that time, a Vajrapāṇi (執金剛神) asked about the essential Dharma: 'After the Bhagavan's parinirvāṇa, how should one uphold the dhāraṇī (總持) Dharma?' The Buddha told Vajrapāṇi: 'Excellent! Excellent! You Vajras are able to ask about this beneficial matter for the sentient beings of the final kalpa (末劫). Think well, and I will explain this beneficial matter to you separately, and expound the essential Dharma.' The Buddha told Vajrapāṇi: 'Those who wish to uphold the dhāraṇī Dharma, and recite scriptures, practice dhyāna (坐禪), and perform various good deeds, first must be pure, second must always have a determined and sincere mind, third must be diligent and not retreat, fourth must repay the Buddha's kindness, fifth must make great vows, and precisely repay the kindness of teachers, sangha, parents, day and night, sixth must repay the kindness of bodhisattvas, seventh must repay the kindness of Vajras, eighth must repay the kindness of the Trāyastriṃśa (三十三天), ninth must repay the kindness of the Caturmahārājakāyikas (四大天王), and tenth must repay the kindness of mantra-holding immortals.' The Buddha told Vajrapāṇi, saying: 'After my parinirvāṇa, in the degenerate age (末法), sentient beings will have little merit, and the three calamities (三災) will arise in succession. My poisonous ghosts, gods, demons, etc., in Jambudvīpa (南閻浮提), in the country of China (振旦國), various evil ghosts and gods, and eighty-four thousand demons, each demon having five thousand attendants, will kill countless sentient beings in Jambudvīpa. You Vajras, today in this Dharma assembly, hear the secret Dharma, you Vajras hear the method of holding mantras, you must first recite the Mahācakra-vajra-dhāraṇī (大輪金剛陀羅尼) divine mantra. If you do not uphold this Dharma, even if all mantras are effective, you will still have the sin of practicing falsely and stealing the Dharma, and after parinirvāṇa, you will fall into hell to suffer.'


苦已當落畜生道。行偽獲罪如是。若有善男子善女人及無量天仙金剛菩薩無量藥叉一切鬼神等。善聽吾當為。汝說灌頂神咒。誦二十一遍能成一切咒法。善事速得成就。其咒乃是過去十方一切諸佛之因此陀羅尼悉皆成佛。一切菩薩悉至佛道。一切金剛皆得不壞之身。一切仙人悉得成就。誦此咒者能成一切印法一切壇法。當入曼荼羅大壇不用事壇。若作事壇種種災起。天難地難王難賊難水難火難一切夜叉羅剎之難天龍鬼神難諸魔一切人難。誦是咒七日七夜清凈燒香。于尊像前誦此咒懺悔三業一切諸罪並得消滅。一切鬼神皆悉歡喜。身上所有一切諸病皆得除愈。爾時佛告執金剛神無量天仙阿難比丘。汝等善聽汝持金剛咒。我為汝于金剛天中結壇。汝持菩薩咒。我為汝于菩薩天中結壇。汝持天咒我為汝于天中結壇。汝持龍天咒。我為汝于龍宮中結壇。汝持二十八部鬼神咒。我為汝于鬼神天中結壇。汝持夜叉羅剎咒。我為汝于夜叉羅剎天中結壇。佛告執金剛神。當說咒之時。山河石壁一切六種震動。一切須彌山諸天鬼神皆悉不安。一切龍王皆大奔走。雲雨三十三悉不安。爾時世尊即說身咒曰。

【English Translation】 English version: Those who suffer have already fallen into the animal realm. False conduct incurs such sins. If there are virtuous men, virtuous women, and countless Devas (celestial beings), Vajras (diamond beings), Bodhisattvas (enlightenment beings), countless Yakshas (a type of spirit), all ghosts and spirits, etc., listen carefully, I will speak the anointment Dharani (a type of mantra) for you. Reciting it twenty-one times can accomplish all mantra practices, and good deeds will be quickly achieved. This mantra is the reason why all Buddhas of the past ten directions attained Buddhahood through this Dharani, all Bodhisattvas reached the path of Buddhahood, all Vajras obtained indestructible bodies, and all immortals achieved accomplishment. Those who recite this mantra can accomplish all Mudra (hand gestures) practices and all Mandala (sacred circle) practices. One can directly enter the great Mandala, without needing to set up a separate altar. If an altar is set up, various disasters will arise, including heavenly disasters, earthly disasters, the disasters of kings, the disasters of thieves, water disasters, fire disasters, and the disasters of all Yakshas, Rakshasas (a type of demon), the disasters of Devas (celestial beings), dragons, ghosts, and spirits, the disasters of all demons, and the disasters of all people. Reciting this mantra for seven days and seven nights, maintaining purity, burning incense, and reciting this mantra before the Buddha image, repenting of all the sins of body, speech, and mind, can eliminate them all. All ghosts and spirits will rejoice, and all diseases on the body will be cured. At that time, the Buddha told Vajrapani (the Vajra-holding deity), countless Devas (celestial beings), and the Bhiksu (monk) Ananda (one of the Buddha's ten great disciples): Listen carefully, you who hold the Vajra mantra, I will establish an altar for you in the Vajra heaven. You who hold the Bodhisattva mantra, I will establish an altar for you in the Bodhisattva heaven. You who hold the Deva mantra, I will establish an altar for you in the Deva heaven. You who hold the Dragon-Deva mantra, I will establish an altar for you in the Dragon Palace. You who hold the mantra of the twenty-eight classes of ghosts and spirits, I will establish an altar for you in the heaven of ghosts and spirits. You who hold the Yaksha (a type of spirit) and Rakshasa (a type of demon) mantra, I will establish an altar for you in the Yaksha (a type of spirit) and Rakshasa (a type of demon) heaven. The Buddha told Vajrapani: When the mantra is spoken, the mountains, rivers, and stone walls will experience six kinds of earthquakes, all the Devas (celestial beings) and spirits of Mount Sumeru (the central mountain in Buddhist cosmology) will feel uneasy, all the Dragon Kings will flee in all directions, and the clouds and rain will feel uneasy. 爾時金剛藏菩薩摩訶薩等。聞佛說持大輪金剛陀羅尼秘密之藏。我等金剛藏菩薩摩訶薩。各將百千恒河沙等金剛。一一金剛各有百萬恒河沙眷屬。一一各將百千恒河沙等藏神。一一藏神又各將四天天。皆下珍寶及金剛山獻佛愿我等金剛藏菩薩摩訶薩悉至佛地。我等眷屬日夜歡喜令我受持。又燒香末香涂香幡花寶蓋百味飲食。奉上世尊供養過去未來現在十方三世諸佛。我等金剛藏菩薩摩訶薩。亦為末法眾生受持

【English Translation】 English version Luodi Shalouti (Luó dì shā luó dì) (8), Tuoluoye Tuoluoye (Duō luó yè duō luó yè) (9), Pituomani (Pí tuó mó nǐ) (10), Sanpanchanni (Sān pán chán nǐ) (11), Taluomani (Dá luó mò nǐ) (12), Xituo Jielidanyan (Xī tuó jié lí dá yàn) (13), Suohe (Suō hē) (14).

The Heart Mantra of the Great Wheel Vajra Dharani (Dà lún jīngāng tuó luó ní) says:

Namo Xidili (Nán mó xī dié lī) (Two combined) Ye (yē) (1), Zhuiweiqianan (zhuì wěi qié nán) (2), Tathagatanam (dá tā qié duō nán) (3), Om (ōng) (4), Weiloushi Weiloushi (wěi luó shí wěi luó shí) (5), Maha Chakrala (mó hē zhuó jié luó) (6), Fazheli (fá zhé lí) (7), Fazhela (fá zhé luó) (8), Saduo Saduo (sà duǒ sà duǒ) (9), Suoluodi Suoluodi (suō luó dì suō luó dì) (10), Talaye Talaye (dá luó yè dá luó yè) (11), Pituomani (pí tuó mò nǐ) (12), Sanpanshini (sān pán shì nǐ) (13), Taluomodi (duō luó mò dǐ) (14), Xituo Ajielidi (xī tuó ā jié lī dǐ) (Ding Yi reversed 15), Liyan Suohe (lī yàn suō hē) (Heart Mantra).

At that time, the World Honored One, having spoken this mantra, addressed Vajrapani (Jīngāng shén) and the mantra-holding immortals, Bhikshus, Bhikshunis, and others, saying: 'First, you must wear new, clean clothes, burn incense, and make offerings to Louzhi Vajra (Lóu zhì jīngāng). Recite the mantra for seven days and seven nights, only burning incense and using pure water. Recite the mantra one hundred thousand times to accomplish all mantra practices. Thereafter, all mudras can be used universally. If one wishes to hold all mantras, they will all be accomplished. If one can constantly recite the mantra, after death, one will quickly reach the Buddha-land.'

At that time, Vajragarbha Bodhisattva Mahasattva (Jīngāng zàng pú sà mó hē sà) and others, hearing the Buddha speak of the secret treasury of the Great Wheel Vajra Dharani (Dà lún jīngāng tuó luó ní), said: 'We, Vajragarbha Bodhisattva Mahasattvas (Jīngāng zàng pú sà mó hē sà), each bring hundreds of thousands of Ganges-sand-like Vajras (jīngāng). Each Vajra (jīngāng) has a million Ganges-sand-like retinue. Each brings hundreds of thousands of Ganges-sand-like treasury deities. Each treasury deity brings four heavenly kings, all offering treasures and Vajra Mountains to the Buddha, wishing that we, Vajragarbha Bodhisattva Mahasattvas (Jīngāng zàng pú sà mó hē sà), all reach the Buddha-land. May our retinue rejoice day and night, enabling us to uphold this. We also offer incense, powdered incense, scented ointment, banners, flowers, jeweled canopies, and a hundred flavors of food to the World Honored One, making offerings to all Buddhas of the past, future, and present in the ten directions and three times. We, Vajragarbha Bodhisattva Mahasattvas (Jīngāng zàng pú sà mó hē sà), also uphold this for the sake of sentient beings in the Dharma-ending age.'


咒。若有善男子善女人及比丘比丘尼優婆塞優婆夷。受持此大輪金剛陀羅尼。于尊像前澡浴著新凈衣。燒香著三盤食供養具說。我等從無始世界已來。流浪生死不知劫數。譭謗聲聞人緣覺人辟支佛人佛乘人。譭謗獨覺人阿羅漢。謗大乘菩薩。毀行正法人。污泥伽藍污泥寺塔。污泥經書破戒行。殺盜淫三業不善。出佛身血殺阿羅漢。常行顛倒持正為邪。十惡不孝殺父害母。一切種種造惡。不知頭數。今於此尊像前發露懺悔。七日七夜三時誦一百八遍陀羅尼神咒。用澡灌三枚盛滿凈水插揚柳枝。作三盤食及酥蜜酪飵茶湯蜜藕種種果子。于尊像前穿一地火爐似蓮花開敷。用赤土摩拭四面。方咒炭十斤。用樹王木炭輪姜子木是也。不用別炭又用薰陸香三大兩安悉香二大兩白檀香二大兩青木香二大兩酥半升蜜半升。剉斫斬剪件五種香。猶如巨類大。於一銅器中用銅匙和合誦咒一百八遍。咒此酥蜜香等咒一百八遍。其像面向東。行者面向西。䠒跪合掌作供養印。如開敷蓮花相。二大指相併怒向後。二小指合怒向前。六指由如捧缽(此名供養印)弟子某甲等。厶州厶縣厶鄉厶里自稱姓名。若比丘比丘尼優婆塞優婆夷。稱本僧尼名本寺名。啟白十方三世一切諸佛。過去一切賢聖冥官業道。弟子厶甲等。厶年厶月八日五更。初懺悔披心露

瞻。請十方三世一切諸佛。過去一切諸佛現在一切諸佛當來彌勒尊佛。及十二部經修多羅藏。諸大菩薩一切賢聖僧。一切金剛三十三天。四天王帝釋天王曹地府。日天月天星宿天。善惡童子護戒善神。證知弟子發露懺悔。所有罪障悉令消滅。弟子從無始世界已來。輪迴六道流浪生死。不識善惡未識佛時佛邊。造罪常行偷盜飲。酒食肉兩舌惡口種種斗亂。不知頭數殺生無數邪行無數妄語無數。今日今時發露懺悔。一懺已后更不重作。愿弟子厶甲等。今於十方諸佛前具說罪禍。破齋夜食常行邪行。生六道餓鬼畜生邊夷下賤。常行不善之處。今日今時發露懺悔。一懺已后復不更重作。若善男子善女人。從月八日至十五日。每日供養皆須新食其七日內誦咒滿十。萬遍有境界。若是上根人得見夢一切諸佛賢聖摩頂受記。即受佛藥以後。即證菩薩金剛地位。逐佛而去。若是中根境界。七日之內準前供養風雨叆叇。夢見金剛賢聖。若見下根眾生。準前七日供養。不見賢聖。七日之內不風雨。幡花不動。此人前世造作十惡五逆業。與法無緣倍功懺悔。一日一夜六時懺悔。我等即須服香唸誦。

All great Bodhisattvas, all virtuous Sangha, all Vajra, the Trayastrimsa Heaven, the Four Heavenly Kings, Śakra, Cao Difu, the Sun God, the Moon God, the Star Gods, the good and evil children, the virtuous gods who protect the precepts, I invite you to witness the repentance of the disciples. May all sins and obstacles be completely eliminated. Since beginningless time, the disciples have been transmigrating through the six realms, wandering in birth and death, not knowing good and evil, not knowing the Buddha or being near the Buddha, committing sins, constantly stealing, drinking alcohol, eating meat, engaging in double-tongued speech, harsh language, and various kinds of strife. May the disciples, so-and-so, now confess all sins and misfortunes before the Buddhas of the ten directions: breaking the fast, eating at night, constantly engaging in evil deeds, being born in the six realms, as hungry ghosts, animals, barbarians**. Constantly engaging in unwholesome places. Today, at this very moment, I reveal and repent. After this repentance, I will never repeat these actions. If a good man or good woman, from the eighth to the fifteenth day of the month, makes offerings every day with fresh food, and recites mantras ten thousand times within those seven days, they will have a certain experience. If they are of superior capacity, they will see in a dream all the Buddhas and sages touching their heads and bestowing predictions. After receiving the Buddha's medicine, they will attain the position of a Bodhisattva Vajra and follow the Buddha. If they are of intermediate capacity, within seven days, they will make offerings as before, and there will be wind and rain, and they will dream of Vajra sages. Within seven days, there will be no wind or rain, and the banners and flowers will not move. Good men, good women, Bhikshus, Bhikshunis, Upasakas, Upasikas, Brahmins, and others, who cultivate the scriptures and the secret Sutra Dharma-doors, those who hold mantras, and sentient beings of inferior capacity, may quickly attain the cause and effect. We, these Bodhisattva assemblies, also grant our approval, and may the Buddhas of the ten directions pat their heads and bestow predictions of Buddhahood. Those who recite this Dharani, this is the fundamental Dharma-door of countless Buddhas of the past. Those who recite this mantra can eliminate all karmic obstacles, and all fundamental sins will be extinguished. If sentient beings of inferior capacity, beginning on the first day of the first month, recite this divine mantra one hundred thousand times before the honored image, they will enter the Mandala, hang four banners of the Four Heavenly Kings, and place twelve Vajra banners in each of the four directions, and eight Bodhisattva banners. Place an image of Vairocana Buddha in the center, and make various offerings before the image, using three copper trays. Place various foods in the trays, and use copper bowls to hold rice cooked with milk and ghee. Six bowls per tray, place the bowl of rice, copper spoons, Buddha chopsticks, soup, and various offerings. In front of the image, draw a square altar four feet in diameter, smear it with fragrant mud, and write five colors on it, each five inches according to its original direction. On the first day and night of each month, recite the mantra one hundred and eight times, and make offerings according to the previous specifications. For seven consecutive days, change the offerings twenty-one times. For seven days, there will be no wind or rain in the (practitioner's) realm, and ghosts and spirits will not appear. If Vajra Bodhisattva (Vajra Bodhisattva) does not appear, it indicates that the roots of sin are deep. Take the five kinds of incense mentioned earlier, mix and crush them, and mix them with honey to make pills. 【English Translation】 English version: Brahmanas and others should recite the secret Dharani (總持) Dharma (法) gate in the scriptures. With the three kinds of Brahma-conduct (梵行) (pure actions of body, speech, and mind), they should recite the scriptures and not speak evil words. Their minds should not harbor evil intentions, and their bodies should be free from the defilements of the five desires. They must not live in the same place with five kinds of Candala (旃陀羅) women (women engaged in lowly professions). They must not associate with the five thousand followers of heretical hunters, nor speak with widows. They must not stay overnight in taverns. They must not debate with heretics on all scriptures, engage in disputes, slander the True Dharma, or seek any gain. If good men and good women make offerings to the honored images, they must not eat the food themselves, or their precepts will be broken. Giving to poor children will bring immeasurable blessings. When this Dharma is spoken, Ananda (阿難) Bhikshus (比丘), Bhikshunis (比丘尼), the Four Heavenly Kings, the Nagas (天龍), ghosts and spirits of the eight divisions, Gandharvas (乾闥婆, celestial musicians), Garudas (伽樓羅, a kind of large golden-winged bird), Kinnaras (緊那羅, a kind of half-human, half-animal musician), Mahoragas (摩睺羅伽, a kind of large serpent deity), Upasakas (優婆塞, male lay devotees), Upasikas (優婆夷, female lay devotees), five hundred Brahmanas, and the Thirty-three Heavens, Brahma Kings, Indra (帝釋, the lord of gods), Rakshasas (羅伽, demons), humans and non-humans, and the Wheel-Turning Sage Kings, all rejoiced greatly upon hearing what the Buddha said, and all attained Anutpattika-dharma-kshanti (無生法忍, the realization of the non-arising of all dharmas), immediately attaining the Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi-citta (阿耨多羅三藐三菩提心, the mind of unsurpassed, complete, and perfect enlightenment), and all attained Buddhahood.

At that time, the World Honored One spoke of the method of making images. All the great Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas (菩薩摩訶薩, great Bodhisattvas) of the past, future, and present in the ten directions and three times, in the hundreds of thousands of millions, all came to assemble.

Hundreds of thousands of Vajra (金剛) Treasury Kings all came to assemble. Hundreds of thousands of the Twenty-eight Yaksha (藥叉, a kind of guardian deity) Heavenly Kings all came to assemble. Hundreds of thousands of Incense Heavenly Kings all came to assemble. Hundreds of thousands of Heavenly Yaksha Kings all came to assemble. Hundreds of thousands of Lion Heavenly Kings all came to assemble. Hundreds of thousands of Holy Monks all came to assemble. Hundreds of thousands of Mantra-Holding Immortals all came to assemble. Hundreds of thousands of Indra (帝釋) Heavenly Kings all came to assemble. Hundreds of thousands of Wheel-Turning Sage Kings all came to assemble. Hundreds of thousands of Peacock Heavenly Kings all came to assemble. Hundreds of thousands of Naga (龍) Heavenly Kings all came to assemble. At that time, when the World Honored One spoke this image-making Dharma, the three thousand great thousand worlds shook in six ways. At that time, the heavens rained Mandarava flowers, fragrant winds arose from all directions, banners and canopies moved on their own, like heavenly drums sounding by themselves. The Buddhas of the ten directions and three times emitted great compassionate light, reaching down to Avici Hell. The beings in the six realms, having seen this light and color, all recited the Buddha, recited the Dharma, and recited the Sangha, attaining unsurpassed Bodhi. The assembled gathering wished to hear about the image-making of the Buddhas of the three times.

【English Translation】 English version: Regarding the method of drawing images. Take four pieces of silk, each eight feet long, and coat the silk with fragrant juice. Do not use glue to paint the images. The person painting the images must observe the Eight Precepts, eat pure food, bathe, and wear clean new clothes. In a clean room, burn incense, place a bathing pot filled with fragrant water, and sprinkle water in all four directions to create a boundary. First, draw a water pond, with the pond branching into two forks downwards. In the water pond, draw lotus flowers, some open and some unopened, facing downwards. Around the four sides of the water pond, place sword-railing stone pillars, all decorated with colors. The tops of the pillars are shaped like open lotus flowers, with Vajra beads placed inside. Each pillar is adorned with golden beads. In the center, create a descending bridge, also decorated with colored treasures. On the drawn Thousand Treasure Steps, paint five rooms with doors, with a structure above resembling a building. Build seven rooms with doors upwards, with owl-tail ornaments (a type of roof ridge decoration) placed on top. The tiles are the color of blue lapis lazuli. The downward-facing eaves each emit treasure flowers from their mouths, with jeweled bells hanging in the middle. All seven rooms have doors and windows. 八指相合。其二中指為開右押左。作印時一切諸佛菩薩金剛天等。皆悉歡喜。

八指無名指二小指二頭指及二中指為開。左押右合二肘。䠒跪誦咒一百八遍。或一千八遍。若善男子善女人。比丘比尼尼優婆塞優婆夷婆羅門等。所有一切過去未來現在一切罪障。悉皆消滅無餘。作此印時。常得一切諸佛菩薩及天龍八部擁護。作此印己。行者心想以此印身如金剛身。供養其三道。印作時于尊像前。洗浴著新凈衣燒香薰手。百味餅果種種供養。其作法人。啟請過去未來十方三世一切諸佛天龍八部。十二部經及修多羅藏。啟告冥官業道。證知我弟子厶甲等。所有一切過去未來現在。一切罪業悉得滅。其人於此陀羅尼印中得作金剛三昧。

【English Translation】 English version: Twelve Vajra banners (Vajra banner, a type of flag), twelve Bodhisattva banners (Bodhisattva banner), and eight Naga King banners (Naga King banner). The practitioner (行者) does this: spread a mattress on the ground, and draw auspicious bird grass patterns on the mattress. The practitioner kneels and puts palms together in offering. If good men, good women, Upasakas (Upasaka, a male lay follower), Upasikas (Upasika, a female lay follower), Brahmins (Brahmin), etc., each draw their own personal deity (本尊), with a joyful face and a youthful appearance, sitting in the lotus position (坐禪姿勢), then the ritual of the image is complete.

At this time, the Lord Buddha (世尊) spoke of the Dharmakaya mudra (Dharmakaya mudra) for creating all mudras (mudra, hand gesture), this is the first mudra.

Stand up, with feet forming a 'T' shape. Straighten both hands and bring palms together upwards, with arms straight. Separate the two middle fingers, and join the other eight fingers at the middle joint. Bend both wrists upwards, raising them above the head. This is the body protection mudra (護身印). Recite the mantra one hundred and eight times.

The Subduing all ghosts, spirits, demons and Mara mudra (降伏一切諸鬼神天魔印), this is the second mudra.

Join the eight fingers together, separate the two middle fingers, with the right middle finger pressing on the left middle finger. When making this mudra, all Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Vajras (Vajra), Devas, etc., will be delighted.

The Eliminating all sins and obstacles mudra (能消滅一切罪障印), this is the third mudra.

Separate the eight fingers, the ring fingers, little fingers, index fingers, and middle fingers, with the left hand pressing on the right hand, and bring the elbows together. Kneel and recite the mantra one hundred and eight times, or one thousand and eight times. If good men, good women, Bhikkhus (Bhikkhu, a monk), Bhikkhunis (Bhikkhuni, a nun), Upasakas (Upasaka, a male lay follower), Upasikas (Upasika, a female lay follower), Brahmins (Brahmin), etc., all their past, future, and present sins and obstacles can be completely eliminated. When making this mudra, one can always receive the protection of all Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and the eight kinds of supernatural beings (Devas and Nagas, eight kinds of supernatural beings). After making this mudra, the practitioner should visualize their body as a Vajra body (Vajra body) through the power of the mudra. Make offerings to the three paths (body, speech, and mind). When making the mudra, in front of the honored image, bathe, put on new and clean clothes, burn incense to purify the hands, and make offerings of various delicious cakes and fruits. The person performing the ritual should invite all Buddhas of the past, future, and present, in the ten directions and three times, the eight kinds of supernatural beings, the twelve divisions of scriptures, and the Sutra Pitaka (Sutra Pitaka, the collection of Sutras). Announce to the officials of the underworld and the path of karma, and testify that all the past, future, and present sins of my disciple, so-and-so, may be eliminated. This person, within this Dharani mudra (Dharani mudra), can attain Vajra Samadhi (Vajra Samadhi).

起立地腳作丁字立。左手向下怒立指。想其手中有器杖出。右手向上。想其手中有杵。降伏一切諸魔神及一切天魔。降伏盡其人。作大瞋威。齒咬下唇。怒目動眉。其杵印掌中拳八指監文。其大母指屈節捻頭指中節。於心中想自頂上有火輪。現起忿瞋。想一切天魔一切惡鬼蠱道魅鬼獸等類。一時俱死。向上看天。虛空中一切飛鳥飛天夜叉一切雜類等。一時俱死。

降伏一切天魔鬼神斬頭印第五

並兩腳作丁字立。左手把右手腕不低前拳。名曰金剛鉞斧印。作此印時。一切天魔鬼神。悉皆斬頭一時死。

金剛刀印第六

右手屈無名指小指。于掌中以大母指押二指甲上。舒頭指中指。高舉手名曰金剛刀印。指想此刀化作百千萬刀。諸鬼神一切精魅。一時俱起。

金剛火輪印第七

二大母指。二中指並相合。其二頭指。及二無名指相叉入掌中。左押右相鉤。合二手腕怒上向下。殺怒猶如百千火輪。其作法人于佛前結跏趺坐。其二肘于兩膝上。心想其火輪有十二輻。一一輻中復有百千火兵。一一火兵化作百千火兵。各各驅使無量火神。若有諸魔鬼神及一切雜類鬼魅恒沙眷屬。惱亂眾生者。其火輪悉能降伏。

Stand with feet in a 'T' shape. Point the left hand downwards, fingers angrily erect. Visualize a weapon in that hand. Point the right hand upwards. Visualize a vajra (杵, diamond scepter) in that hand. Subdue all demon gods and all celestial demons. Subdue all people. Assume a greatly wrathful appearance. Bite the lower lip. Glower and move the eyebrows. The vajra mudra is made with the eight fingers interlocked in the palm. The thumb is bent, the tip pressing against the middle joint of the index finger. Visualize a wheel of fire above the crown of your head. Manifest wrath. Visualize all celestial demons, all evil ghosts, gu poison, spirit ghosts, beasts, and the like, all dying at once. Look up at the sky. All flying birds in the sky, flying yakshas (夜叉, a type of mythical being), all miscellaneous beings, all dying at once.

Mudra for Subduing All Celestial Demons and Ghosts by Decapitation Fifth

Stand with feet together in a 'T' shape. The left hand grasps the wrist of the right hand, not lowering the forward fist. This is called the vajra axe mudra (金剛鉞斧印). When making this mudra, all celestial demons and ghosts are decapitated and die at once.

Vajra Sword Mudra Sixth

Bend the ring finger and little finger of the right hand into the palm, pressing the nails of these two fingers with the thumb. Extend the index finger and middle finger. Raise the hand high. This is called the vajra sword mudra (金剛刀印). Visualize this sword transforming into hundreds of thousands of swords. All ghosts and spirits arise at once.

Vajra Fire Wheel Mudra Seventh

The two thumbs and two middle fingers are joined together. The two index fingers and two ring fingers are crossed and inserted into the palm, the left hand pressing on the right, hooking each other. The wrists are angrily raised up and down. The appearance of killing wrath is like hundreds of thousands of fire wheels. The practitioner sits in the lotus position before the Buddha. The two elbows are on the knees. Visualize the fire wheel having twelve spokes, and within each spoke there are hundreds of thousands of fire soldiers. Each fire soldier transforms into hundreds of thousands of fire soldiers, each commanding countless fire gods. If there are demons, ghosts, and all kinds of miscellaneous ghosts and spirits with countless retinues, disturbing sentient beings, this fire wheel can subdue them all.

【English Translation】 English version: Assume the lotus position (Padmasana). Extend the thumb, middle finger, and ring finger of both the left and right hands, placing them in the respective palms. The three fingers of the right hand point upwards, extended within the left palm. Press the left and right hands together. Press the right thumb onto the left little finger, and the right little finger onto the left thumb. This is called the Great Subduing of the Heavenly Demon Mudra. This mudra has two names; one is called the 'As Before' Mudra. The left hand points downwards, the right hand points upwards, crossing each other in the same manner as before. This is called the Subduing All Demons Mudra.

At that time, when the Tathagata, along with all Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Vajras, Devas, Nagas, and the Eight Classes of beings, as numerous as hundreds of thousands of Ganges sands, from the past, future, and present of the ten directions and three times, were expounding this mudra in the Bodhi-mandala, there also appeared thirty-six kinds of Mara Kings, Heavenly Demons, Space Demons, and twelve Mara Kings, leading eighty-four thousand demon soldiers as their retinue. Furthermore, there were five hundred Heavenly Demon Papiyas (Lord of the Sixth Heaven in the Desire Realm), each leading retinues as numerous as Ganges sands, and countless evil ghosts and demon soldiers, devouring the blood and flesh of sentient beings, and all kinds of seductive and poisonous practices. They also dispatched demon masters to raise clouds and cause rain, bringing down frost and hail out of season, damaging all crops. They also hid vessels filled with disease throughout the world, spreading illness and killing sentient beings, making this their constant occupation, devoid of compassion. Furthermore, there were various kinds of ghosts and spirits who sucked human essence, countless and boundless, with form and without form, with hands and without hands, with feet and without feet, coming without speaking, and speaking after coming, with angry hearts, holding various hidden vessels. There were also bird-headed Heavenly Demons, rat-headed Heavenly Demons, pig-headed Heavenly Demons, chicken-headed Heavenly Demons, rabbit-headed Heavenly Demons, and ox-headed Heavenly Demons. All these Heavenly Demons, etc., abandoned all weapons, bows, crossbows, spears, shields, wheel covers, and all armor, throwing them before the Tathagata, begging for their lives, saying thus: 'We, the demon hosts, take refuge in the Tathagata, do not harm us. We will always protect all the Buddha-dharma. If there are those who uphold and recite the scriptures, they will be free from all calamities, and their good deeds will increase day and night, and all calamities will be completely extinguished without remainder.'

At that time, the World-Honored One told the demons: 'If you can generate the Bodhi-mind, you will attain Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi (Unsurpassed Perfect Enlightenment). If there are good men and good women who, after the Tathagata's Parinirvana, uphold this Dharani (Total Retention), they will attain the state of Gold.'

【English Translation】 English version The position of Gangzang Bodhisattva (Gangzang Bodhisattva). He is always protected by all Buddhas. All Bodhisattvas are constantly his companions. If good men, etc., lack resources, he always makes them abundant. Those who recite this mantra will have bodies like nectar, and their complexion and strength will be vigorous. If there are bhiksus (bhiksu, ordained male monastic), bhiksunis (bhiksuni, ordained female monastic), upasakas (upasaka, lay male devotee), upasikas (upasika, lay female devotee), Brahmans (Brahman, ancient Indian priestly class), etc., who have broken the precepts, all their sins will be eliminated. If good men and good women recite this dharani (dharani, a comprehensive mantra), day and night increasing diligent contemplation, all sentient beings will be freed from the suffering of shackles, and it will be dedicated to the underworld officials and the path of karma. All ghosts and spirits and the suffering beings in Avici (Avici, the lowest level of the eight great hells) will be liberated. If there are sentient beings who have committed all kinds of evil deeds in their previous lives, and now have human bodies with various diseases, witchcraft, demonic influences, epilepsy, madness, and all kinds of disasters, regrets, ominous bird calls, cold and heat, and evil diseases that have not healed for years, if they recite this dharani one thousand and eight times, all disasters and diseases will be eliminated. If sentient beings with little merit are short-lived, reciting this dharani sutra forty-nine times will increase their lifespan. If there are difficulties in childbirth, reciting this dharani sutra forty-nine times will eliminate the disaster and restore normalcy. If suffering from malaria for one day, two days, three days, four days, five days, up to seven days, half a month, or even a month or a year without healing, take well water and fill a bathing bottle, chant over the water one thousand and eight times in front of the honored image, and give three liang (a unit of weight) to the patient to drink, and take five pills of the previous incense, and they will be cured. If it is daily malaria, chant over a knife one hundred and eight times, draw a square or circle of four chi (a unit of length) on the ground, have the patient bathe and wear new clean clothes, sit in the middle and give them incense to take, and recite the mantra one thousand and eight times, and they will be cured. If it has not healed for many years and they are emaciated, lie down and recite the mantra, draw on the ground in front of the honored image, announce to the Buddhas, wishing to save suffering now, burn incense sincerely, and offer a hundred flavors of food and drink, and they will be cured. If it is all kinds of demonic influences, goblins, violent ghosts, witchcraft that eat the hearts of sentient beings, bleeding from above and below that does not heal, or has been going on for months, then in front of the honored image, as before, burn incense, ghee, honey, yogurt, grains, rice, flowers, and sesame seeds mixed together, and burn them in the fire.

If it is an epidemic that does not improve for many months, bathe with water that has been mantra-ized and take four or five 'he' (ancient unit of volume) of the medicine, and the illness will be cured. If someone suffers from all kinds of sores and scabies, as well as the five types of Kāmala (Kāmala, a liver and gallbladder disease), bathe with water that has been mantra-ized for forty-nine days, and take the fragrance twenty-one or nine times. At the same time, recite this scripture forty-nine times in front of the Buddha image, and the illness will be cured. If it is scabies, regardless of whether it is dry or wet, grind one ounce of realgar and mix it with ghee. Recite the mantra one thousand and eight times in front of the Buddha image, and then give it to all sentient beings.
