如是我聞。一時佛在妙高山寶峰樓閣之中。以種種金寶而用莊嚴。出無數光周匝照曜于諸山巖。復有栴檀沉水涂香粖香種種名花。及諸寶蓋鈴譯如是嚴飾。

爾時有天龍夜叉阿修羅乾闥婆迦樓羅緊那羅摩睺羅伽。及持明仙部多頻那夜迦毗舍左有形無形末怛里眾等。來集會坐可遍五百由旬。

復有菩薩摩訶薩七千五百人。苾芻眾一萬二千五百人。俱來會坐而為聽法。

爾時會中天龍夜叉阿修羅乾闥婆迦樓羅緊那羅摩睺羅伽。及持明仙眾部多頻那夜迦毗舍左。有形無形末怛里眾等。高聲唱言苦哉苦哉。時釋迦牟尼如來應正等覺而復問言。汝等云何高聲唱言怖畏苦惱。彼眾等白言。世尊我被大力聖者恐怖降伏而今來此。唯愿慈悲特垂救護。世尊告言。今此一切最上廣大曼拏羅中。有菩薩摩訶薩得大地補處。當紹灌頂法王之位。而能覺悟善惡諸業。當爲安慰汝之心意說是語已剎那之間有菩薩摩訶薩名金剛手。如金剛山放金色光普照世界。頂戴寶冠面如滿月。手執金剛棒金剛橛金剛罥索。具大福力能破

當時,有天龍(Devas and Nagas)、夜叉(Yakshas)、阿修羅(Asuras)、乾闥婆(Gandharvas)、迦樓羅(Garudas)、緊那羅(Kinnaras)、摩睺羅伽(Mahoragas),以及持明仙眾、部多(Bhutas)、頻那夜迦(Vinayakas)、毗舍左(Pishachas)、有形無形末怛里眾(Matrikas)等,前來會坐,遍及五百由旬(Yojana)。

又有菩薩摩訶薩七千五百人,比丘眾一萬二千五百人,一同前來會坐聽法。

當時,會中的天龍、夜叉、阿修羅、乾闥婆、迦樓羅、緊那羅、摩睺羅伽,以及持明仙眾、部多、頻那夜迦、毗舍左、有形無形末怛里眾等,高聲唱言:『苦哉!苦哉!』。這時,釋迦牟尼如來應正等覺便問他們說:『你們為何高聲唱言,感到怖畏苦惱?』。他們回答說:『世尊,我們被大力聖者恐怖降伏,現在來到這裡,唯愿您慈悲,特別垂憐救護。』。世尊告訴他們說:『現在這最上廣大曼拏羅(Mandala)中,有菩薩摩訶薩得到大地補處,將繼承灌頂法王之位,能夠覺悟善惡諸業,應當安慰你們的心意。』。說完這話,剎那之間,有菩薩摩訶薩名為金剛手(Vajrapani),如金剛山一般,放出金色光芒普照世界,頭戴寶冠,面如滿月,手執金剛棒、金剛橛、金剛罥索,具大福力,能夠摧破……

【English Translation】 English version The Holy All-Victorious Vajra Fire Dharani Sutra

Thus have I heard. At one time, the Buddha was in the Treasure Peak Pavilion on Mount Meru (妙高山), adorned with various kinds of gold and jewels. It emitted countless lights, illuminating all the surrounding mountains and rocks. There were also various famous flowers of sandalwood, agarwood, scented paste, and powdered incense, as well as various jeweled canopies and bells, adorned in this manner.

At that time, there were Devas and Nagas (天龍), Yakshas (夜叉), Asuras (阿修羅), Gandharvas (乾闥婆), Garudas (迦樓羅), Kinnaras (緊那羅), Mahoragas (摩睺羅伽), as well as Vidyadharas (持明仙), Bhutas (部多), Vinayakas (頻那夜迦), Pishachas (毗舍左), embodied and disembodied Matrikas (末怛里眾), and others, who came to sit in assembly, covering five hundred yojanas (由旬).

There were also seven thousand five hundred Bodhisattva Mahasattvas and twelve thousand five hundred Bhikshus, who came together to sit and listen to the Dharma.

At that time, the Devas, Nagas, Yakshas, Asuras, Gandharvas, Garudas, Kinnaras, Mahoragas, as well as the Vidyadharas, Bhutas, Vinayakas, Pishachas, embodied and disembodied Matrikas, and others in the assembly, cried out loudly, 'Suffering! Suffering!'. Then, Shakyamuni Tathagata, worthy and perfectly enlightened, asked them, 'Why do you cry out so loudly, feeling fear and distress?'. They replied, 'World Honored One, we have been terrified and subdued by a mighty holy being, and now we have come here, hoping that you will have compassion and especially grant us protection.'. The World Honored One told them, 'Now, in this supreme and vast Mandala (曼拏羅), there is a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who has attained the position of successor to the earth, who will inherit the position of the Dharma King of Empowerment, and who can awaken to good and evil deeds. He should comfort your hearts.'. Having spoken these words, in an instant, there was a Bodhisattva Mahasattva named Vajrapani (金剛手), like a Vajra mountain, emitting golden light that illuminated the world, wearing a jeweled crown, with a face like the full moon, holding a Vajra club, a Vajra stake, and a Vajra noose, possessing great power to destroy...

Thereupon, Vajrapani Bodhisattva immediately arose from his seat, and in front of the Devas, Nagas, Asuras, and other Bhutas, entered into samadhi, named the Supreme Vajra Weapon Light Lamp Samadhi. He emitted great supernatural powers, causing the three thousand great thousand worlds to thunder, hail, and lightning, like great flames. When these sentient beings saw these sights, they immediately eliminated their suffering and fear. Furthermore, countless sentient beings, as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River, upon seeing these sights, aroused pure Brahma conduct, upholding precepts, patience, and forbearance, donating all their treasures to Vajrapani Bodhisattva, all willing to follow him and listen to the wonderful Dharma. At this time, Vajrapani Bodhisattva then spoke to the assembly of Devas, Nagas, and Yakshas about the Four Noble Truths, Dependent Origination, Samadhi Doors, the Ten Paramitas, and the ritual methods of the Great Mandala of the Vajra family. All the Brahma, Maheshvara, Varuna, Kushira, Maruta Garuda, Narayana, Yama, Indra, etc., attained accomplishment. The Asuras, Gandharvas, etc., also attained accomplishment. Even the various evil Bhutas, Rakshasas, etc., those difficult to subdue were able to be subdued, and those harboring evil intentions were able to arouse good intentions.

爾時佛敕金剛手菩薩。汝為宣說無能勝金剛火大陀羅尼令彼受持。金剛手菩薩。即以此陀羅尼真實威德之力。放大光明照彼天人阿修羅等一切賢聖大會之眾。復以陀羅尼力故。而令日月星宿光明不現。大海涌沸妙高山王悉皆震動。

爾時大光焰藏金寶峰中有金剛手童女。變化自身如大熾焰。即往虛空。至大力菩薩摩訶薩前。右繞三匝歸命頂禮。住立一面告彼眾曰。金剛手菩薩說如來三摩地心。汝等當宜各舍金剛器仗等。求此大陀羅尼法。時世界主大梵王天人阿修羅等。俱發聲言。如菩薩敕我今奉行。於是大自在天舍三股叉。那羅延天舍輪。焰摩天舍杖。俱尾啰天舍棒。帝釋天舍金剛杵。摩嚕拏天舍罥索。天魔舍其障難。阿修羅舍其威力。摩嚕多舍其迷著。母鬼眾離於散亂。龍神眾離於恚毒。夜叉羅剎緊那羅毗舍左部多沒啰賀摩羅剎娑鳩槃茶等皆去威力。于菩薩前一心恭敬。金剛手即說陀羅尼曰。

【English Translation】 English version Those with wrong views obtain right views (correct understanding). Those who harbor anger and hatred give rise to compassion (love and mercy). Those who are shrouded in ignorance and darkness are able to understand (the principles of things). Those who previously possessed great strength lose their strength. Those who were previously able to conceal themselves can no longer do so. The mantras (spells) of others are able to be self-restrained. One's own mantras are able to seek fulfillment. Abiding in the Mandala (sacred circle), one awakens and subdues (afflictions). It should be like this.

At that time, the Buddha instructed Vajrapani Bodhisattva (the Bodhisattva holding the Vajra): 'You should proclaim the Invincible Vajra Fire Great Dharani to them, so that they may receive and uphold it.' Vajrapani Bodhisattva, with the power of the true and virtuous might of this Dharani, emitted great light, illuminating the assembly of all the wise and holy beings, including the Devas (gods), Asuras (demigods), and others. Moreover, by the power of the Dharani, the light of the sun, moon, and stars disappeared, the great ocean surged and boiled, and Mount Meru (Sumeru), the king of mountains, trembled entirely.

At that time, within the Great Light Flame Treasury Jewel Peak, there was a Vajrapani maiden, who transformed herself into a great blazing flame. She went into the void and approached the Great Strength Bodhisattva Mahasattva (Great Bodhisattva), circumambulated him three times to the right, paid homage and prostrated, stood on one side, and told the assembly: 'Vajrapani Bodhisattva is about to speak the Tathagata Samadhi Heart (the Samadhi Heart of the Tathagata). You should each abandon your vajra weapons and other implements, and seek this Great Dharani Dharma.' At that time, the world-ruler Mahabrahma (Great Brahma), Devas, Asuras, and others all spoke, saying: 'As the Bodhisattva commands, we will now follow.' Thereupon, Maheshvara (Shiva) abandoned his Trishula (trident), Narayana (Vishnu) abandoned his Chakra (wheel), Yama (the Lord of Death) abandoned his Danda (staff), Kubera (the God of Wealth) abandoned his Gada (club), Indra (the Lord of the Gods) abandoned his Vajra (thunderbolt), Varuna (the God of Water) abandoned his Pasha (noose), the demons abandoned their obstacles, the Asuras abandoned their power, Maruta (the Wind God) abandoned his attachments, the mother ghosts departed from their distractions, the dragon gods departed from their anger and poison, and the Yakshas, Rakshasas, Kinnaras, Pisacas, Bhutas, Brahma-Rakshasas, Kumbhandas, and others all relinquished their power, and with one mind, they paid homage to the Bodhisattva. Vajrapani Bodhisattva then spoke the Dharani, saying:

若有人聽聞此陀羅尼,一心讀誦、憶念、受持,此人便能進入一切世間和出世間的曼拏羅(壇城)三昧(禪定)。若有人隨喜恭敬,此人不會被禁咒、各種毒藥以及一切恐怖所惱害。

當時,佛陀敕令金剛手菩薩宣說此大陀羅尼時,欲界和色界諸天以及一切天子,在空中降下種種殊妙的香花用來供養,又用微妙的梵音歌詠贊嘆。當時,大曼拏羅會中的一切聖賢、比丘眾等,以及大菩薩摩訶薩。

If someone hears this dharani, and recites, remembers, and upholds it with a single mind, that person will be able to enter all worldly and trans-worldly mandala (sacred circle) samadhi (meditative absorption). If someone rejoices and reveres it, that person will not be troubled or harmed by prohibitions, curses, various poisons, and all terrors.

At that time, when the Buddha ordered Vajrapani Bodhisattva to speak this great dharani, the devas (gods) of the desire realm and form realm, and all the sons of the gods, rained down various wonderful and exquisite fragrant flowers in the sky as offerings, and also sang praises with subtle Brahma sounds. At that time, all the sages, virtuous ones, bhikshus (monks), and so on in the great mandala assembly, as well as the great Bodhisattva Mahasattvas.
