特進試鴻臚卿大興善寺三藏沙門大廣智不空奉 詔譯

爾時毗沙門天王告一切眾生言。善男子汝于南閻浮提五濁惡世中。或出家比丘僧比丘尼。在家優婆塞優婆夷等。同在法中。我領諸天善神擁護是人。若聞我名者有知我者。我當於是人左右。如護眼精。如護己命無令諸惡者惱亂。若有一切男子女人。以王事我。我以王事之。以一切貴勝事我。我以一切貴勝事之。若以富樂音聲事我我以一切富樂音聲事之。若有人能受持誦陀羅尼及結印法。所有行用供養我形像者。我一切隨於汝所求。應汝之愿令汝滿足。若有出家人受持者。我為童子助之。若有國王君臣等受持供養我者。我當富貴兵甲王位恒愿應之誓無相背。善男子是真言法。我于佛前奉上世尊。護持末法比丘佛弟子及諸眾生等。若有於我世尊末法弟子起噁心相向者。我自領多兵眾鬼神藥叉乾闥婆等。摧碎惡人猶如微塵。善男子若有於我法中常供養依法受持。隨汝所須所愿與汝。

若有人能受持我真言法者。當先作四肘壇。于凈室中掘去惡土。深一尺。遠處取凈黃土。填筑令

【English Translation】 English version The Separate Practice Ritual of the Miraculous Dharani of Vaishravana (Northern Heavenly King), the Treasure-Possessing Heavenly King

Translated by the Tripitaka Master Da Guang Zhi, Bukong (Amoghavajra), of Daxingshan Temple, holding the title of Special Advanced Official of the Honglu Temple, by Imperial Decree

At that time, Vaishravana (the Northern Heavenly King, one of the Four Heavenly Kings in Buddhism, guardian of the north) spoke to all sentient beings, saying: 'Good men, in this Jambudvipa (the world we live in) in the evil age of the five defilements, whether you are ordained bhikshus (Buddhist monks), bhikshunis (Buddhist nuns), or lay upasakas (male Buddhist lay followers), upasikas (female Buddhist lay followers), as long as you are within the Dharma, I will lead the heavenly good spirits to protect these people. If anyone hears my name or knows of me, I will guard them on their left and right, as if protecting their own eyes, as if protecting their own life, not allowing any evil ones to disturb them. If any men or women serve me as they would a king, I will treat them as I would a king; if they serve me with all noble and supreme things, I will repay them with all noble and supreme things; if they serve me with wealth, joy, and music, I will repay them with all wealth, joy, and music. If anyone can receive, uphold, recite the dharani (a sacred utterance or mantra) and practice the mudras (symbolic hand gestures), and use all their actions to make offerings to my image, I will fulfill all your requests, answer your wishes, and satisfy you. If an ordained person upholds this, I will transform into a child to assist them. If kings, ministers, and others uphold and make offerings to me, I will grant them wealth, armor, and royal power, constantly fulfilling their wishes, vowing never to betray them. Good men, this mantra Dharma, I presented to the World-Honored One before the Buddha, to protect the bhikshu disciples of the Buddha and all sentient beings in the Dharma-ending age. If anyone harbors evil intentions towards my disciples of the World-Honored One in the Dharma-ending age, I will personally lead many troops, ghosts, yakshas (a type of guardian spirit), and gandharvas (a type of celestial musician), to crush these evil people like dust. Good men, if anyone constantly makes offerings in my Dharma, upholds it according to the law, I will grant you whatever you need and whatever you wish for.'

'If anyone can receive and uphold my mantra Dharma, they should first make a four-cubit altar, dig out the unclean earth in a clean room to a depth of one foot, and take clean yellow earth from afar to fill and level it...'


平正。勒成階道。高一磔手。上層方廣三尺。高一磔手。開四門。用水瓶盛香水。箭四隻刀四口鏡四面。供養飲食用十二盤。煎餅乳酪酥燈四盞散華。春夏采雜華。秋冬散彩華。其壇下層畫山石。上層畫大蓮華。四角畫海水。安像中心蓮華上。上懸幡十六口。皆作神形像。其像面南。持法人面向北對像坐唸誦。

作壇真言曰。

oṃ  na  nda  na nda  da  ṭi  da ṭi  na  nda  va 唵 難 馱 難馱 娜 智 娜智 難 馱 婆 liḥ  svā  hā 里(入) 薩嚩(二合引) 賀(引)

若有受持真言法。作壇時。先誦此真言一百八遍。加持地及土石處。所有一切蟲蟻諸類。皆移避不在此住。其地即得清凈。堪置壇場。結壇時。嚴加持結界。

結地界契

右手中指於左頭指期間向外背出頭。以右無名指於左小指期間亦爾。左中指內向入右頭指期間向內出頭。以左無名指于右小指期間亦爾。兩小指頭指豎合。二大指亦合頭向下。大指合頭著拄地翼兩臂肘。真言曰。

oṃ  ki  li  ki li  va  jra  va  jri  bhu  riḥ 唵 吉 里 吉里 嚩 日啰 嚩 

【現代漢語翻譯】 現代漢語譯本: 平整場地,用土堆砌成階梯狀的道路。第一層高一磔手(約一手掌張開的長度),上層平臺的正方形邊長為三尺,高也是一磔手。在平臺上開設四扇門。用裝滿香水的水瓶,箭四支,刀四把,鏡子四面,以及十二盤供養飲食用食物,煎餅、乳酪、酥油燈四盞,散花來供養。春夏兩季採摘各種鮮花,秋冬兩季則散彩色的花。在壇的下層繪製山石,上層繪製大蓮花。四個角上繪製海水。將佛像安放在中心蓮花之上。上方懸掛十六口幡(旗幟),都在幡上繪製神像。佛像面向南方。持法人(修法者)面向北方,對著佛像坐著唸誦。

製作壇城的真言如下:

om̐ nā nda nā nda da ṭi da ṭi nā nda va līḥ svā hā

如果有人受持真言法,在製作壇城時,先誦此真言一百零八遍,加持土地及土石之處,所有一切蟲蟻之類的生物,都會移開避讓,不在此處居住。這塊土地就變得清凈,可以用來設定壇場。結壇時,要嚴格地加持結界。

結地界契(手印):

右手的中指從左手的食指間向外背向伸出頭。右手的無名指從左手的小指間也同樣伸出。左手的中指向內從右手的食指間向內伸出頭。左手的無名指從右手的小指間也同樣伸出。兩手的小指和食指指尖合攏豎立。兩個大拇指也合攏,指尖向下。大拇指合攏的指尖抵住地面,兩臂張開像翅膀一樣。真言如下:

【English Translation】 English version: Level the ground and build a stepped path with earth. The first level is one 'traksha-hasta' (a hand-span) high. The upper platform is a square with sides of three feet and a height of one 'traksha-hasta'. Open four doors on the platform. Use water bottles filled with scented water, four arrows, four knives, and four mirrors. Offer twelve plates of food and drink, pancakes, cheese, four ghee lamps, and scattered flowers. In spring and summer, gather various fresh flowers; in autumn and winter, scatter colorful flowers. Draw mountains and rocks on the lower level of the altar, and a large lotus flower on the upper level. Draw seawater in the four corners. Place the image of the Buddha on the lotus flower in the center. Hang sixteen banners above, all with images of deities painted on them. The image faces south. The 'dharmahara' (mantra holder) faces north, sitting opposite the image and reciting.

The mantra for constructing the mandala is as follows:

om̐ nā nda nā nda da ṭi da ṭi nā nda va līḥ svā hā

If someone upholds the 'mantra-dharma' (mantra practice), when constructing the mandala, first recite this mantra one hundred and eight times, blessing the ground and the places with earth and stones. All insects and creatures will move away and avoid dwelling there. The ground will then become pure and suitable for setting up the mandala. When establishing the mandala, strictly bless and establish the boundary.

The 'Bhu-bandhana-mudra' (earth-binding hand gesture):

The middle finger of the right hand extends outward from between the index finger of the left hand. The ring finger of the right hand also extends from between the little finger of the left hand in the same way. The middle finger of the left hand extends inward from between the index finger of the right hand. The ring finger of the left hand also extends from between the little finger of the right hand in the same way. The tips of the little fingers and index fingers of both hands are joined and held upright. The two thumbs are also joined, with the tips pointing downward. The joined tips of the thumbs touch the ground, and the arms are spread out like wings. The mantra is as follows:

om̐ ki li ki li va jra va


日哩 部 律 va  nva  va nva  hūṃ  pha  ṭ 滿 馱 滿馱 𤙖 發 吒

此印能除地中一切惡類。下至金剛際。除一切惡鬼神。須加持七遍拄天地上下。不能為害。得清凈福。

次結四方界契。

準前地界契。唯改開二大指。相去二寸。指頭向身直豎。怒指向右轉。真言曰。

oṃ  sa  ra  sa ra  va  jra  pra  ka 唵 薩 羅 薩羅 嚩 日啰(二合) 缽羅(二合) 迦 ra  hūṃ  pha  ṭ 羅 𤙖 泮 吒

此契能除四方魔鬼神等。作法會壇場處作印契。誦真言七遍。向四方隨日轉。一切藥叉鬼退散。得法成就。

次結虛空界契。

此印契能除空中上至於有頂諸魔鬼神。不敢惡念。印契向頭上右旋三匝。真言加持。飛

【English Translation】 English version Ri li Bu Lü va nva va nva hūṃ pha ṭ mǎn tuó mǎn tuó hūṃ pha ṭ

This mudra (hand seal) can remove all evil beings in the earth, down to the Vajra-koti (the lowest level). It removes all evil ghosts and spirits. It must be blessed seven times, supporting the heaven and earth above and below, so that they cannot cause harm, and one obtains pure blessings.

Next, form the Four Directions Boundary Mudra.

Following the previous Earth Boundary Mudra, only change by opening the two thumbs, two inches apart, with the tips of the fingers pointing straight towards the body, and the angry fingers turning to the right. The mantra says:

oṃ sa ra sa ra va jra pra ka oṃ sa ra sa ra va jra pra ka ra hūṃ pha ṭ ra hūṃ pha ṭ

This mudra (hand seal) can remove demons, ghosts, and spirits from the four directions. At the place of the Dharma assembly altar, form this mudra (hand seal), recite the mantra seven times, and turn it to the four directions following the sun. All Yakshas (a type of spirit) and ghosts will retreat and scatter, and one will attain Dharma accomplishment.

Next, form the Space Boundary Mudra.

Following the previous Earth Boundary Mudra, only change the two thumbs, each attached to the side of the index finger, and then point the fingers towards the head, rotating three times to the right. The mantra says:

oṃ vi spho ra dra kṣa va oṃ vi spho ra dra kṣa va jra paṃ ja ra hūṃ pha ṭ jra paṃ ja ra hūṃ pha ṭ

This mudra (hand seal) can remove all demons, ghosts, and spirits in the sky, up to the Akanistha (highest heaven), so that they dare not have evil thoughts. Rotate the mudra (hand seal) three times to the right above the head, bless it with the mantra, and fly


行藥叉退散。

若能作大道場終身成事法者。擇地未規時。誦真言一遍。結界地平正堅實。香華供養。又誦真言一遍結界地。若豎立拄額規郭。懸幢鈴珮等少分華復供養。一遍誦明結界。佈置彩色座。開諸位地。又誦真言一遍結界。將燈安置壇上。又誦真言一遍結界。水罐華香飯食酥蜜胡麻秫粳米等供養物盡入道場。安置訖更誦真言一遍結界。請佛般若菩薩金剛天等。未請前。復作誦真言一遍結界。一一結界左手把跋折羅。降伏一切。右手把香爐。口請一切聖眾天王。右繞三匝作結界。想心標萬里千里百里一由旬等。皆心標想。口云各四近處三里結界。即供養動止威儀具諸法相。一切賢聖天王歡喜。若作本契印本真言法。皆迎請結界。出入似國王動止威儀無異。

次結香華契。

二無名指二小指交叉。右壓左在掌中。仍屈向腕。即舒中指頭斜相跓。以二頭指各捻中指第三節。以二大指各附二食指側合腕。真言曰。

oṃ  ma  nā  rtha  pa  ri  pra  ra  kā  ya 唵 摩 拏阿 羅他 缽 哩 布 啰 迦(引) 也 svā  hā 薩嚩 賀

在處結壇及不結壇。空對像處。若有壇處。作真言契印法。加持香華。入道場供養。無

接下來結香華契(Mudrā,手印)。

兩個無名指和兩個小指交叉,右手壓在左手上,放在掌中,然後彎曲向手腕。舒展兩個中指,指尖斜著相對。用兩個食指各自捏住中指的第三節。用兩個大拇指各自貼在食指的側面,合攏手腕。真言如下:

【English Translation】 English version: Depart, Yaksa (a type of spirit) who travels with medicine.

If one is able to construct a great Mandala (sacred enclosure) for achieving lifelong accomplishments, before selecting the site and planning, recite the mantra once. Establish the boundary, making the ground level, firm, and solid, and offer incense and flowers. Then recite the mantra once again to establish the boundary of the land. If erecting pillars or door frames, hanging banners, bells, and ornaments, offer a small portion of flowers again, and recite the Vidya (knowledge, mantra) once to establish the boundary. Arrange the colored seats and open up the various positions. Then recite the mantra once to establish the boundary. Place the lamps on the altar, and recite the mantra once to establish the boundary. Place all offerings such as water pitchers, flowers, incense, cooked rice, ghee, honey, sesame, glutinous rice, and粳 rice into the Mandala. After arranging everything, recite the mantra once again to establish the boundary. Invite the Buddhas, Prajna (wisdom), Bodhisattvas (enlightened beings), Vajras (diamond scepters, symbolizing firmness), and Devas (gods). Before inviting them, recite the mantra once again to establish the boundary. Each time establishing the boundary, hold the Vajra (diamond scepter) in the left hand to subdue everything; hold the incense burner in the right hand, and verbally invite all the holy assembly of Deva Kings. Circumambulate three times to the right as the boundary. Imagine the range of the boundary in your mind, whether it is ten thousand miles, a thousand miles, a hundred miles, or one Yojana (an ancient Indian unit of distance), all determined by the mind's imagination. Say aloud: 'Establish the boundary three miles in each nearby direction.' In this way, the offerings, actions, stillness, and demeanor all possess the characteristics of all Dharmas (teachings), and all the virtuous and holy Deva Kings will be pleased. If practicing the original Mudrā (hand seal) and the original mantra method, one must invite and establish the boundary. Entering and exiting is like a king, with no difference in actions and demeanor.

Next, form the Incense and Flower Mudrā (hand seal).

Cross the two ring fingers and two little fingers, with the right hand pressing on the left hand in the palm, then bend towards the wrist. Extend the two middle fingers, with the tips leaning against each other diagonally. Use the two index fingers to pinch the third joint of the middle fingers respectively. Place the two thumbs on the sides of the index fingers respectively, and close the wrists. The mantra is as follows:

oṃ ma nā rtha pa ri pra ra kā ya svā hā

Whether establishing an altar or not, in an open space facing the Buddha image, if there is an altar, perform the mantra Mudrā method, bless the incense and flowers, and offer them in the Mandala. If there is no altar, then...


道場空對尊像空作契供養亦得。當有壇香華一也。一切天王善神金剛等歡喜。

次結飲食契。

準前香華印。唯改二小指二無名指。拄在掌中間。真言曰。

na  mo  ja  te  bha  pa  sa  ra  te  ta  ṭa 曩 謨(引) 惹岐 帝(引) 婆 跛 薩 羅 帝(引) 跢 吒 ra  ṭa  na  ra  yaṃ  ya  ja  svā  hā 羅 吒 娜 攞 延 也 惹婆 薩嚩 賀

此契印及真言。若擬獻飲食供養者。一一真言加持食盤。一一真言加持了。然後入道場。壇處安置供養。若無飲食。但對天王像前。每朝空結契印及誦真言供養亦得福利。天王歡喜。

次結燈契。

右手小指無名指屈在掌中。直豎中指。其頭指亦屈向掌中。大指屈上節。押頭指上節。大指頭側捻中指中節上。真言曰。

oṃ  bha  pe  ti  le  svā  hā 唵 婆 閉 底 隸 薩嚩 賀

若有道場。須加持燈用契真言方乃入壇內供養。如無壇。空凈室置天王像。亦須加持燈契誦真言供養。神力光明照曜去處無障。天王歡喜。

四天王結界契

二手小指屈入掌中。

這個契印和真言,如果打算獻上飲食供養,就用這個真言加持每一個食盤,加持完畢后,再進入道場,在壇處安置供養。如果沒有飲食,只是對著天王像前,每天早上空結契印並誦持真言供養,也能獲得福報。天王會感到歡喜。

接下來結燈契印。

右手小指和無名指彎曲在掌中,伸直中指,食指也彎曲向掌中,大拇指彎曲壓在食指的上節,大拇指頭側面捻住中指的中節上。真言如下:

唵(oṃ)(皈命) 婆(bha) 閉(pe) 底(ti) 隸(le) 薩嚩(svā) 賀(hā)(成就)

如果設有道場,必須加持燈,使用契印和真言,才能放入壇內供養。如果沒有壇,在乾淨的房間里安置天王像,也必須加持燈契,誦持真言供養。神力光明照耀之處,沒有障礙。天王會感到歡喜。

四天王(Caturlokapala,四大天王)結界契印

兩手小指彎曲入掌中。

【English Translation】 English version: Even in a Dharma practice place (Daocheng) without actual offerings, making mudra (Qi) offerings with hand gestures and mantras towards the revered image is also acceptable. There should be an altar, incense, and flowers. In this way, all the Heavenly Kings (Caturlokapala), benevolent deities, Vajras, etc., will be pleased.

Next, form the Food Offering Mudra.

The hand gesture is the same as the incense and flower offering mudra, except that both little fingers and ring fingers are bent, with their tips resting in the middle of the palms. The mantra is as follows:

na mo (nāmo)(Homage to) ja te (te)(Splendor) bha pa sa ra te (te)(Supreme) ta ṭa ra ṭa na la yaṃ ya ja bha sva ha (svāhā)(Accomplishment)

This mudra and mantra, if you intend to offer food, use this mantra to bless each food plate. After blessing, then enter the Dharma practice place and arrange the offerings at the altar. If there is no food, just facing the Heavenly King's (Caturlokapala) image, making the mudra and reciting the mantra every morning will also bring blessings. The Heavenly King will be pleased.

Next, form the Lamp Mudra.

Bend the right hand's little finger and ring finger into the palm, straighten the middle finger, and also bend the index finger towards the palm. Bend the thumb and press it on the upper joint of the index finger, with the side of the thumb's tip pinching the middle joint of the middle finger. The mantra is as follows:

oṃ(Om) bha pe ti le sva ha (svāhā)(Accomplishment)

If there is a Dharma practice place, the lamp must be blessed using the mudra and mantra before it can be placed inside the altar for offering. If there is no altar, place the Heavenly King's (Caturlokapala) image in a clean room, and the lamp mudra must also be blessed, and the mantra recited for offering. The divine power and light will illuminate everywhere without obstruction. The Heavenly King will be pleased.

All evil demons will scatter far away. Then raise the mudra, and in all four directions—east, west, south, and north—repeat the mudra in a cycle, chanting the mantra for blessing. Demonic obstacles will flee and dare not approach the mandala. Create the boundary again and again, according to the proper procedure. 【English Translation】 English version: Starting from the fifteenth day of each month, recite the mantra 300,000 times. Those who set up an altar may play music. As long as there is a little bit of sincere mind following along, I (Vaiśravaṇa, Guardian King of the North) will always protect you, just like protecting your eyes, just like protecting your life. If you recite with incense in your mouth, your wishes will naturally be known to others. If you constantly recite my mantra without interruption, I will attend to this person's sitting and lying down, and I will always attend to this person's comings and goings. I attend to this person and fulfill his wishes. If you recite the mantra 108 times every day, you can eliminate the sins of 108 kalpas (aeons) from your body. If you recite my mantra 10,000 times, you can eliminate the heavy sins of 84,000 kinds of the ten evils and five rebellious acts. The sins of destroying pagodas, breaking precepts, and being unfilial will all be eliminated. If you face the image of the Heavenly King and recite the mantra of my body 100,000 times, whatever you do will be slightly satisfactory. If you make offerings to my image every day, and even offer me the music and milk porridge that I love, I will appear in golden armor and fulfill your wishes. If you mix various fragrances, take equal parts of Calculus Bovis (ox gallstone) and Realgar (arsenic sulfide), bless them, and place them under my image, I will make the fragrance method successful, and you can apply it to your forehead as you wish. Wherever you go, the people you see, the king, princes, ministers, officials, nobles, and all those you see will be happy, and the soldiers will love you. If you can face north in front of my image at noon every day and recite my heart mantra 300,000 times, I will appear in the form of a great general, holding a halberd and sword in front of you. I will appear in your dreams, or show myself to you on a distant mountain top, fulfilling your various wishes. If you cannot see my form, I will also bless you according to your wishes.

如果有人受持唸誦我的心咒,並做各種供養,那麼我的身、心、意都會在你身上。我會無量地愛念你。如果有人求財、求官,或求一切身外之事,我會讓你願望滿足,不讓惡人傷害你。能讓你們受持我法的人,就能得到富貴安樂,端正的男女、奴婢、車乘、五穀豆麥、田莊妻妾,我必定會給予你們,成就一切快樂的器具,隨你們的意願滿足。乃至命終后,往生之處,也隨你們的意願,不會相違背。如果不是這樣,我就不配稱為護法天王,我必定會墮入阿鼻地獄。你們這些受持讀誦的人,如果對我的法產生少許疑心,誹謗輕罵,這都是你們地獄苦業的因緣未盡,要知道這個人沒有脫離苦海的期限。你們這些人民,要記住,用香、花、油酥燈,設定水壇,將我的像安置在其中,用各種草、果子、飲食、煎餅、乳酪等,粥、酥蜜盤,如法供養。演奏音樂,歌唱讚唄,用梵音讚歎。像這樣,每日、每月初一、十五日、正月七日,對著我的像前唸誦修行,我就會示現身形,或者在壇中施捨各種寶物,滿足你們的願望,或者隨你們的心意行動,無論你們前往何處,東西南北四維上下,一切去處,乃至夜夢中,我都會施與你們,使人無所畏懼。即使進入戰場,刀槍相害,也不能傷到你們。只要你們心中存念我的名字和真言句,手結契印,所指向的方面,那裡的所有惡敵兵賊,都會被束縛,自己潰散,自己顛倒,自己滅亡,自己發狂,沒有人能傷害我的法。如果有人持我的心咒,和合香用,含在口中去見貴人,或者取麝香、鬱金……

【English Translation】 English version ā ya svā hā dha na dā ya svā hā Mo Nuo Ye Suo Po He Nan (rising tone) Na Tuo Ye Suo Po He

If there are those who receive, uphold, recite, and chant my heart mantra, and make various offerings, then my body, mind, and intention will be upon you. I will love and cherish you immeasurably. If someone seeks wealth, seeks official position, or seeks all external matters, I will fulfill your wishes and not allow evil people to harm you. Those who can receive and uphold my Dharma will obtain wealth, nobility, peace, and happiness, upright men and women, servants, vehicles, the five grains (rice, millet, wheat, beans, and hemp), fields, estates, wives, and concubines. I will definitely grant these to you, fulfilling all joyful implements according to your wishes. Even after the end of life, the place of rebirth will be according to your wishes, not contrary to them. If this is not true, I am not worthy to be called a Dharma-protecting Heavenly King, and I will surely fall into Avici Hell (the lowest level of hell). If you who receive and recite this have even a little doubt, slander, or lightly scold my Dharma, it is because the karmic conditions of your suffering in hell have not yet been exhausted. Know that this person has no hope of liberation. You people who remember and uphold this, use incense, flowers, ghee lamps, and set up a water altar, placing my image in the center. Use various grasses, fruits, foods, pancakes, dairy products, such as porridge, ghee, and honey, and make offerings according to the Dharma. Play music, sing praises, and chant in Sanskrit. Like this, daily, on the first and fifteenth of each month, and on the seventh day of the first month, recite and practice before my image, and I will manifest my form, or bestow various treasures in the altar to fulfill your wishes, or act according to your heart's intentions. Wherever you go, in all directions—east, west, south, north, the four intermediate directions, above and below—even in your dreams, I will bestow upon you, making people fearless. Even if you enter the battlefield and are harmed by swords and spears, you will not be injured. As long as you keep my name and mantra phrases in your heart, and hold the mudra (hand gesture), in the direction you point, all the evil enemy soldiers and thieves there will be bound, scattered, overturned, destroyed, and driven mad. No one can harm my Dharma. If someone holds my heart mantra, mixes it with fragrant substances, and holds it in their mouth when meeting dignitaries, or takes musk and turmeric...
