爾時如來為末世薄福一切眾生故。說真言教法。時一切日月星宿。皆悉雲集前後圍繞。異口同音白言。唯愿如來而為我等說于神咒。於時世尊說八星咒曰。
oṃ sa pta ji na ya bha rja vi ja ya 唵 颯 跢 而 曩 野 伴 惹 密 惹 野 jaṃ pū tha ma sva mi na ra kṣaṃ 染 普 他 摩 娑嚩(二合) 弭 曩 啰 乞山(二合) bha va tu svā hā 婆 嚩 都 莎 呵
其印明出金剛頂經七星品。
佛告貪狼破軍等言。若有善男子善女人。受持是神咒擁護否。於時八女白世尊言。若有人每日誦此神咒。決定罪業皆悉除滅。成就一切愿求。設復有人。若能每日誦此神咒一百八遍。即得自身及一切眷屬擁護。若能誦五百遍。大威神力。五百由旬內。普皆圍繞。一切魔王及諸魔眾。一切障者無量惡鬼。不敢親近。常當擁護。北斗八女一切日月星宿諸天龍藥叉。能作障難者一時斷

唵(oṃ) 颯(sa) 跢(pta) 而(ji) 曩(na) 野(ya) 伴(bha) 惹(rja) 密(vi) 惹(ja) 野(ya) 染(jaṃ) 普(pū) 他(tha) 摩(ma) 娑嚩(sva, 二合) 弭(mi) 曩(na) 啰(ra) 乞山(kṣaṃ, 二合) 婆(bha) 嚩(va) 都(tu) 莎(svā) 呵(hā)
此印明出自《金剛頂經》七星品。
佛告訴貪狼（Tanlang，北斗七星之一）、破軍（Pojun，北斗七星之一）等說：『若有善男子、善女人，受持這個神咒，能得到擁護嗎？』當時，八女（Ba Nv，北斗八女）稟告世尊說：『若有人每日誦此神咒，必定罪業全部消除滅盡，成就一切愿求。假設有人，若能每日誦此神咒一百零八遍，就能得到自身及一切眷屬的擁護。若能誦五百遍，則有大威神力，五百由旬（Yujun，古印度長度單位）之內，普遍得到圍繞保護，一切魔王及諸魔眾，一切製造障礙者和無量惡鬼，都不敢親近，常常得到擁護。北斗八女、一切日月星宿、諸天龍藥叉（Yaocha，一種神祇），能製造障礙者，都會一時斷絕。』

The Ritual of Reciting the Big Dipper Seven Stars

At that time, the Tathagata (Rulai, an epithet of the Buddha) spoke the mantra teaching for the sake of all sentient beings in the degenerate age who have little merit. At that time, all the suns, moons, and stars gathered together, surrounding the Tathagata, and said in unison: 'We wish that the Tathagata would speak the divine mantra for us.' At that time, the World-Honored One spoke the Eight Stars Mantra, which is as follows:
oṃ sa pta ji na ya bha rja vi ja ya jaṃ pū tha ma sva mi na ra kṣaṃ bha va tu svā hā
The mudra (hand gesture) and mantra are found in the 'Seven Stars' chapter of the Vajrasekhara Sutra (Jingangding Jing).
The Buddha told Tanlang (Greedy Wolf Star, one of the Big Dipper stars), Pojun (Broken Army Star, one of the Big Dipper stars), and others: 'If there are good men and good women who uphold this divine mantra, will they be protected?' At that time, the Eight Goddesses (Ba Nv, the Eight Goddesses of the Big Dipper) said to the World-Honored One: 'If someone recites this divine mantra every day, their karmic sins will surely be completely eradicated, and all their wishes will be fulfilled. Suppose someone can recite this divine mantra one hundred and eight times every day, they will receive the protection of themselves and all their family members. If they can recite it five hundred times, they will have great divine power, and within five hundred Yojanas (Yujun, an ancient Indian unit of distance), they will be universally surrounded and protected. All the demon kings and all the demon hordes, all those who create obstacles, and countless evil ghosts will not dare to approach and will always be protected. The Eight Goddesses of the Big Dipper, all the suns, moons, and stars, the devas (celestial beings), dragons, and Yakshas (Yaocha, a type of deity) who can create obstacles will all be cut off at once.'
壞。若人慾供養者。先發拔濟心。于清凈寂靜之處。以香華飲食供養。持念神咒結印契。如是供養時。八女及一切眷屬。現身隨意奉仕。成就無量愿求。惹位即得。何況世間少少官位榮耀。若求壽命削定業籍。還付生籍。若諸國王王子大臣後宮等。于自宮中作曼荼羅。如法護摩禮拜供養。北斗八女皆大歡喜。故久居勝位恒常受安樂。百官上下和穆不行非法。人民熾盛稼穡豐饒。國土安寧無有災難不現異怪。疫病死亡不起。境內怨敵群賊自然退散。故以是法甚為秘密。不信者及無智人中勿妄宣傳。無智人不分明心故。不得法意生疑謗。雖無智人金剛生金剛子等。常誦持佛眼母明者當宣傳。金剛子雖無智不生疑謗故成就法。行者雖樂世間樂。深迴向無上正等菩提。
