爾時啰嚩拏。觀於世間一切小兒。從其初生至十二歲。並在幼稚癡騃之位。神氣未足鬼魅得便。有十二曜母鬼遊行世間。于晝夜分常伺其便。或因眠睡或獨行坐。於此之際現作種種差異之相。驚怖小兒令其失常。噏取精氣。因成疾病遂至殤夭。我見是事深所哀愍。我今為說十二曜母鬼。執魅小兒年月時分所患疾狀。及說大明救療之法。乃至作法出生祭祀儀則。若復有人聞我所說。有疾患者時持明人。依於我法而作救療發至誠者。定獲輕[廆-(白-日+田)+(美-大)]安樂吉祥。十二曜母鬼名者所謂摩怛哩難那(一)蘇難那(二)哩嚩帝(三)目佉曼尼迦(四)尾拏隸(五)設俱你(六)布多曩(七)輸瑟迦(八)阿哩也迦(九)染婆迦(十)必隸冰砌迦(十一)塞健馱(十二)。
如是等十二曜母鬼。執魅小兒為求祭祀。我今各各說其執魅相狀。若復小兒于初生日初生月初生年被執魅者。是摩怛哩難那母鬼所執。其小兒先患寒熱。身體瘦弱漸漸乾枯。心神荒亂身常顫掉。啼哭不食者。持明人於二河岸

如上所述的十二曜母鬼,爲了求得祭祀而執魅小兒。我現在分別講述它們執魅的相狀。如果小兒在初生日、初生月、初生年被執魅,那就是摩怛哩難那(Mātṛnanda,喜悅之母)母鬼所執。小兒會先患寒熱病,身體瘦弱,漸漸乾枯,心神荒亂,身體常常顫抖,啼哭不食。持明之人應當在兩條河的岸邊

《Rāvaṇa Speaks of the Sutra for Saving and Healing Children's Diseases》
Translated by Tripiṭaka Dharma Master Fa Xian of the Mingjiao Monastery, Grand Master of Court Service, Acting Vice President of the Ministry of Imperial Sacrifices, under Imperial Decree, from the Western Regions.
At that time, Rāvaṇa (King of Rakshasas) observed all children in the world, from their birth to the age of twelve, all being in a state of naivety and ignorance, with insufficient spirit, easily susceptible to demonic disturbances. There are twelve Yaksha Mothers wandering in the world, constantly seeking opportunities day and night. Either when children are sleeping, or when they are alone, they manifest various strange appearances, frightening the children, causing them to lose their minds, absorbing their essence, leading to illness and even premature death. Seeing these things, I feel deep compassion. Now I will speak of the months, years, and times when the twelve Yaksha Mothers possess children, as well as the symptoms of the diseases they cause, and I will also speak of the Great Brightness Healing Method, and even the rituals for performing practices and birth sacrifices. If someone hears what I say, and there are patients with illnesses, and the mantra-holder performs healing according to my method, with sincere devotion, they will surely obtain relief from suffering, peace, joy, and auspiciousness. The names of these twelve Yaksha Mothers are: Mātṛnanda (Mother of Joy), Sunanda (Mother of Good Joy), Revatī (Name of a star), Mukhamanika (Face Jewel), Vināḷī (Name of a musical instrument), Śakuni (Bird), Pūtanā (Name of a demon), Śuṣka (Dry), Āryaka (Noble One), Rambhaka (Supporter), Pralimpika (Anointer), Skandha (Aggregate).
The above-mentioned twelve Yaksha Mothers possess children in order to seek sacrifices. Now I will describe the appearances of their possession. If a child is possessed on the day of their birth, the month of their birth, or the year of their birth, it is possessed by the Yaksha Mother Mātṛnanda (Mother of Joy). The child will first suffer from chills and fever, the body will be thin and gradually wither, the mind will be disturbed, the body will often tremble, and they will cry and not eat. The mantra-holder should be on the banks of two rivers.
取土。作患小兒像。於四方曼拏羅內。面西安小兒像。復于曼拏羅設種種香華。及白色飲食乃至酒肉等。復設七座幢燃七盞燈。複用白芥子野狐糞貓兒糞安悉香蛇皮。以如是等藥用黃牛酥。同和為香燒薰小兒。複用𦱔麻油麻荊子。或用葉及蓽茇羅樹葉嚩啰迦藥。如是五藥以水煎之沐浴小兒。即誦大明。加持如上曼拏羅中祭食及種種物。誦大明曰。

複次小兒于初生后。第二日第二月第二年得患者。是蘇難那母鬼所執。其小兒先患寒熱作荒亂相。閤眼不食手足畜搦腹內疼痛吐逆喘息者。持明人當用米粉一斗。作病小兒像面西。安曼拏羅中。復于曼拏羅設種種上妙香華飲食及酒肉等。複用白色幢四座燃燈四盞。複用安悉香蒜蛇

After reciting and blessing with the Great Bright Mantra in this way, go outside the city. At midday, face east and offer sacrifices to Matrìnanda (Mother Ghost). Discard all the sacrificial food, incense, flowers, and other items wherever you are. The sick child will quickly be cured.
Furthermore, if a child becomes ill on the second day, second month, or second year after birth, it is possessed by the Sunanda Mother Ghost. The child will first suffer from chills and fever, act confused and disoriented, close their eyes and refuse to eat, have convulsions in their hands and feet, abdominal pain, vomiting, and shortness of breath. The mantra holder should use one dou of rice flour to make an image of the sick child, facing west, and place it in the Mandala. Furthermore, use tula seeds (cotton seeds), snake skin, cat feces, cow horn, tiger claws, white mustard seeds, etc. Mix them together to make incense and burn it to fumigate the child. Then say the Great Bright Mantra: Om (seed syllable) namo bhagavate (one) vasunivaya (two) ramanabhimarupaya (three) hana hana (four) hū phat (half sound) svaha (five) After reciting the Great Bright Mantra and blessing it in this way, go outside the city and face south at the hour of the dog (戌時, between 7pm-9pm) to offer sacrifices to the Rambhaka Mother Ghost. Discard all the sacrificial food and various items everywhere. The afflicted child will quickly recover. Furthermore, if a child becomes ill on the eleventh day, eleventh month, or eleventh year after birth, it is possessed by the Ice-Piling Mother Ghost (冰砌迦母鬼). The child will first suffer from chills and fever, trembling body, painful finger joints, crying and vomiting, loss of appetite, looking up at the empty sky, and gradually becoming emaciated. At this time, the mantra holder should use one dou (斗, a unit of dry measure) of black bean flour to make an image of the sick child, anoint it with red sandalwood, and place it facing west inside the Mandala (sacred circle). Then, use various incense, flowers, food and drink, and meat, etc., to arrange twenty-five portions, set up twenty-five banners, and light twenty-five lamps. Then, use pigeon dung, pigeon wings, human hair, goat horns, cat feces, white mustard seeds, and ghee (clarified butter), mix them together to make incense, and burn it to fumigate the child. 複次小兒初生后。第十二日第十二月第十二年得患者。是塞健馱母鬼所執。其小兒先患寒熱。瞋目視人又如期克人相畜搦手足及畜腹肚。漸漸羸瘦。不思飲食者。持明人用大麥面作小兒像。面西安曼拏羅內。復以種種香華及上味飲食酒肉等。並設紅色幢八座燃燈四盞。複用牛角白芥子安息香蒜蛇皮貓兒糞酥等。同和為香燒熏小兒。複用同前五藥水沐浴小兒。即誦大明。加持如上曼拏羅中祭食及種種物。即說大明曰。

After reciting and blessing with this great mantra, take the offerings outside the city. At the hour of Xu (7-9 PM), face west and offer sacrifices to the Icchika-matrika (a type of ghost). Discard all the sacrificial food and various items randomly in different places. The sick child will quickly recover.
Furthermore, if a child falls ill on the twelfth day, twelfth month, or twelfth year after birth, it is possessed by the Skanda (Kumara, here referring to his ghost mother). The child first suffers from alternating chills and fever, then glares at people, and seems to be cursing them. Their hands, feet, and abdomen twitch constantly, gradually becoming weak and refusing to eat. The mantra holder should make an image of the child with barley flour, place it facing west inside the mandala (sacred circle). Then, offer various fragrant flowers and superior delicacies, including food, wine, and meat. Also, set up eight red banners and light four lamps. Then, use cow horn, white mustard seeds, benzoin, garlic, snake skin, cat feces, ghee, etc., mix them together to make incense, and burn it to fumigate the child. Also, use the same five medicinal ingredients to bathe the child. Then, recite the great mantra, blessing the sacrificial food and various items in the mandala as above.
