如是我聞。一時佛在摩伽陀國法野大菩提道場。初成正覺。與諸菩薩摩訶薩眾八萬人俱。復有八萬四千大梵天子亦在道場。悉皆圍繞瞻仰世尊。

爾時會中有菩薩摩訶薩名觀自在。從座而起偏袒右肩。右膝著地合掌向佛。而白佛言世尊。有一切如來名號陀羅尼。彼一切如來名號陀羅尼。乃是莊嚴劫賢劫星宿劫中。諸佛如來已說當說。我今承佛威力。亦為利益安樂諸眾生故樂欲宣說。唯愿世尊加哀覆護。

爾時世尊贊觀自在菩薩摩訶薩言。善哉善哉觀自在。汝能為利益一切眾生髮大悲心。如意宣說。時觀自在菩薩蒙佛許已。復白佛言世尊。若人慾誦彼陀羅尼。先當至誠誦諸佛如來名號。所謂寶師子自在如來寶云如來。寶莊嚴藏如來師子大云如來。雲師子如來須彌如來。師子吼如來師子利如來。梵音如來善愛如來。蓮華上如來燃燈如來。蓮華生如來遜那啰如來。持花如來持寶如來。法生如來日光如來。日照如來月光如來。無量藏如來無量莊嚴藏如來。無量光如來蓮華藏如來。天妙音如來拘枳羅音如來

爾時，會中有菩薩摩訶薩名觀自在（Avalokiteshvara）。從座而起，偏袒右肩，右膝著地，合掌向佛。而白佛言：『世尊，有一切如來名號陀羅尼。彼一切如來名號陀羅尼，乃是莊嚴劫、賢劫、星宿劫中，諸佛如來已說當說。我今承佛威力，亦為利益安樂諸眾生故，樂欲宣說。唯愿世尊加哀覆護。』

爾時，世尊贊觀自在菩薩摩訶薩言：『善哉善哉觀自在。汝能為利益一切眾生，發大悲心，如意宣說。』時觀自在菩薩蒙佛許已。復白佛言：『世尊，若人慾誦彼陀羅尼，先當至誠誦諸佛如來名號。所謂寶師子自在如來，寶云如來，寶莊嚴藏如來，師子大云如來，雲師子如來，須彌如來，師子吼如來，師子利如來，梵音如來，善愛如來，蓮華上如來，燃燈如來，蓮華生如來，遜那啰如來，持花如來，持寶如來，法生如來，日光如來，日照如來，月光如來，無量藏如來，無量莊嚴藏如來，無量光如來，蓮華藏如來，天妙音如來，拘枳羅音如來。』

【English Translation】 English version The Dharani Sutra of the Names of All Tathagatas, Spoken by the Buddha

Translated by the Tripitaka Master Fa Xian of the Mingjiao Monastery, Grand Master of the Court of Imperial Sacrifices, and Attendant of the Imperial Secretariat, by Imperial Decree, from the Western Regions.

Thus have I heard: At one time, the Buddha was in the Bodhimanda (place of enlightenment) in the great Dharma Field of Magadha (country in ancient India), having just attained perfect enlightenment. He was with eighty thousand Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas (great enlightened beings). There were also eighty-four thousand great Brahma (creator god) kings in the Bodhimanda, all surrounding and gazing upon the World-Honored One.

At that time, in the assembly, there was a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva named Avalokiteshvara (the Bodhisattva of Compassion). He rose from his seat, bared his right shoulder, knelt on his right knee, and, with palms joined, addressed the Buddha, saying: 'World-Honored One, there is a Dharani (mantra) of the names of all Tathagatas (Buddhas). This Dharani of the names of all Tathagatas has been spoken and will be spoken by the Buddhas and Tathagatas in the Bhadrakalpa (Fortunate Aeon), the Vyuhakalpa (Glorious Aeon), and the Nakshatra-kalpa (Stellar Aeon). Now, empowered by the Buddha's might, and for the benefit and happiness of all sentient beings, I wish to proclaim it. May the World-Honored One have mercy and protect me.'

At that time, the World-Honored One praised the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva Avalokiteshvara, saying: 'Excellent, excellent, Avalokiteshvara! You are able to generate great compassion for the benefit of all sentient beings and proclaim it as you wish.' Then, having been permitted by the Buddha, the Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara again addressed the Buddha, saying: 'World-Honored One, if a person wishes to recite this Dharani, they should first sincerely recite the names of the Buddhas and Tathagatas. Namely: Treasure Lion Freedom Tathagata, Treasure Cloud Tathagata, Treasure Adornment Store Tathagata, Lion Great Cloud Tathagata, Cloud Lion Tathagata, Sumeru (mythical mountain) Tathagata, Lion Roar Tathagata, Lion Benefit Tathagata, Brahma Sound Tathagata, Good Love Tathagata, Lotus Above Tathagata, Burning Lamp Tathagata, Lotus Born Tathagata, Sundara Tathagata, Flower Holder Tathagata, Treasure Holder Tathagata, Dharma Born Tathagata, Sunlight Tathagata, Sun Shining Tathagata, Moonlight Tathagata, Immeasurable Store Tathagata, Immeasurable Adornment Store Tathagata, Immeasurable Light Tathagata, Lotus Store Tathagata, Heavenly Wonderful Sound Tathagata, Kokila Sound Tathagata.'

。如是等諸佛如來名號。若人得聞為他宣說。是人六十千劫不聞惡趣之名。何況墮于阿鼻地獄。時觀自在菩薩。說是諸佛如來名號已。即說陀羅尼曰。

【English Translation】 English version: If a person hears and proclaims to others the names of such Buddhas and Tathagatas (Tathagata: 'Thus Gone One', an epithet of the Buddha), that person will not hear the name of evil realms for sixty thousand kalpas (kalpa: an aeon, a very long period of time), let alone fall into Avici Hell (Avici Hell: the lowest level of hell in Buddhist cosmology). 爾時世尊說是經已。八萬菩薩摩訶薩眾。及八萬四千大梵天子。聞佛所說皆大歡喜信受奉行。

【English Translation】 English version: Om! Te Padma Shanikaya Tathagata Dharani Svaha (19) Padma Hastaya Svaha (20) Sarva Mantra Dharani Svaha (21)

At that time, Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva, having spoken this Dharani, further said to the Buddha, 'World Honored One, this Dharani of the names of all Tathagatas, if there are good men and good women who receive, uphold, read, recite, contemplate, remember, and speak it for others, all their five heinous offenses will be completely eliminated. After the end of their lives, they will be reborn in the heavens as kings, living for eighty-four hundred thousand kotis of kalpas. After that, they will attain the position of a Chakravartin king, living for sixty intermediate kalpas. After these kalpas have passed, they will attain Buddhahood, named Lotus Treasury Tathagata, Worthy of Offerings, Perfectly Enlightened One.'

At that time, after the World Honored One spoke this Sutra, eighty thousand Bodhisattva Mahasattvas and eighty-four thousand Great Brahma Kings, hearing what the Buddha had said, were all greatly rejoiced, believed, accepted, and practiced it.
