【English Translation】 English version The Six Door Dharani Sutra
Translated by the Tripitaka Master Xuanzang of the Great Tang Dynasty under Imperial Decree
Thus have I heard. At one time, the Bhagavan (Bhagavan, the World-Honored One) was in the Heaven of Pure Abode, dwelling in emptiness, in a Dharma-field adorned with various wonderful seven treasures, together with countless Bodhisattvas. At that time, the World-Honored One told the Bodhisattvas: 'Good men, if you wish to benefit and bring happiness to sentient beings, you should receive this Six Door Dharani Dharma. That is, the various sufferings I have endured in the cycle of birth and death, may sentient beings not have to endure the same sufferings; the wealth and worldly pleasures I have enjoyed, may all sentient beings enjoy these pleasures together. The evil deeds I have committed, if I have not repented beforehand, I will never speak to praise the unsurpassed Dharma. All my deeds disturbed by demons, if I have not perceived them beforehand, I will never set my mind on clinging to the unsurpassed Dharma. All the vast roots of goodness, both worldly and beyond worldly, gathered by the Paramitas (paramita, perfection, going to the other shore), may all sentient beings quickly attain the fruit of unsurpassed wisdom. I attain liberation, may all sentient beings also attain liberation, and may they not be attached to birth and death or Nirvana.' The Dharani is as follows:
Chàn mí chàn mí, chàn dì chàn dì, bá dié lì bá dié lì, sū bá dié lì sū bá dié lì, dì shì dì shì zhàn dié lì zhàn dié lì, zhàn dié luó fá dǐ dī shū fá dǐ, dá mó fá dǐ, sà pó jié lì shuò pí shū dá nǐ, sà pó ā là tuō shā dá nǐ, mò nuò sēng shū dá nǐ suō hē.
If there are pure and faithful good men and good women who can recite this Six Door Dharani six times during the day and night, all the karmic obstacles of these people will be completely eliminated, and they will quickly awaken to Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi (anuttara-samyak-sambodhi, unsurpassed, complete and perfect enlightenment). At that time, after the Bhagavan finished speaking this Sutra, all the Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas (bodhisattva-mahasattva, great being bodhisattvas) and the assembly of gods, hearing what the Buddha said, were all very happy, believed, accepted, and practiced it accordingly.
