爾時佛告阿難言。有陀羅尼名曰妙色。乃是三世諸佛同共宣說能與眾生作大利益。若復有人聞是陀羅尼。生難遭想發勇猛心。讀誦受持供養恭敬。是人理世獲大福聚。晝夜安隱。又復有人以大悲心。于寂靜處持種種飲食而為出生。誦此陀羅尼七遍。加持已作如是言。我今出生祭於世間一切惡趣諸鬼。愿食此生者速離惡趣。說是言時即三彈指。想彼諸鬼得此食者各各飽滿。變妙色身發菩提心。乃至當來漸成佛果。即說陀羅尼曰。
那謨(引)婆誐嚩帝(引一句)蘇嚕播(引)野(二)怛他(引)誐多(引)野(三)阿啰曷(二合)帝(引)三藐訖三(二合)沒馱(引)野(四)怛寧*也他(引五)唵(引)蘇嚕囌嚕(六)缽啰(二合)蘇嚕缽啰(二合)蘇嚕(七)三摩(二合)啰三摩(二合)啰(八)婆啰婆啰(九)三婆啰三婆啰(十)薩哩嚩(二合)必隸(二合引)多必舍(引)左(引)曩(引十一)阿(引)賀(引)囕捺那(引)彌娑嚩(二合引)賀(引十二)
爾時阿難聞佛說已。歡喜信受作禮

這時，佛陀告訴阿難（Ananda，佛陀的十大弟子之一）說：『有一道陀羅尼，名為妙色（Suroopa，美妙的顏色）。這是過去、現在、未來三世諸佛共同宣說的，能夠給予眾生巨大的利益。如果有人聽聞此陀羅尼，生起難得遭遇的想法，發起勇猛精進之心，讀誦、受持、供養、恭敬，這個人在此世間將獲得巨大的福德聚集，日夜安穩。又如果有人以大悲心，在寂靜之處，持種種飲食而作佈施，誦此陀羅尼七遍，加持後作這樣的宣告：『我今佈施祭祀世間一切惡趣諸鬼，愿食此食物者迅速脫離惡趣。』說完這些話時，即彈指三次，觀想那些得到食物的鬼，個個都飽滿，轉變為美妙的色身，發起菩提心，乃至將來逐漸成就佛果。』 即說陀羅尼曰：

這時，阿難聽聞佛陀所說后，歡喜信受，作禮而去。
【English Translation】 English version The Sutra of the Dharani of Wonderful Color Spoken by the Buddha
Translated by Dharma Master Fa Xian, Minister of the Guanglu Court with the Title of Chao San Da Fu, of the Western Heaven Translation Bureau, under Imperial Decree
At that time, the Buddha told Ananda (one of the ten great disciples of the Buddha): 'There is a dharani called Suroopa (Wonderful Color). It is proclaimed together by all the Buddhas of the three times (past, present, and future) and can bring great benefits to sentient beings. If someone hears this dharani, generates a thought of rare encounter, and develops a courageous mind, reciting, upholding, making offerings, and respecting it, this person will obtain great accumulations of merit in this world and be peaceful day and night. Furthermore, if someone with great compassion, in a quiet place, holds various foods and drinks and makes offerings, reciting this dharani seven times, after blessing it, makes this declaration: 'I now offer this sacrifice to all the ghosts in the evil realms of the world, wishing that those who eat this offering quickly leave the evil realms.' When these words are spoken, snap the fingers three times, visualizing that those ghosts who receive this food are each satisfied, transform into wonderful colored bodies, generate Bodhicitta (the mind of enlightenment), and even in the future gradually achieve Buddhahood.' Then the Buddha spoke the dharani:
Namo Bhagavate Suroopaya Tathagataya Arhate Samyak-sambuddhaya Tadyatha Om Suroo Suroo Prasuroo Prasuroo Samara Samara Bhara Bhara Sambhara Sambhara Sarva Preta Pishachanam Ahara Dana Me Svaha
At that time, Ananda, having heard what the Buddha said, rejoiced, believed, accepted, and made obeisance.
