爾時世尊告阿難言。有陀羅尼名栴檀香身。是陀羅尼有大威力。能與眾生廣大福聚。若復有人得此陀羅尼。發至誠心讀誦受持堅固不退。是人所有極重宿業悉得消滅。當來獲得殊勝果報。又復有人慾見觀自在菩薩者。先於清凈之處持誦精熟。然後擇吉祥日。日初出時用白檀香涂曼拏羅。于中焚栴檀香獻殊妙花。即起首誦陀羅尼八千遍。得數滿已即于曼拏羅前。鋪吉祥草虔心而臥。如是經於七日。即得菩薩出現本身。令持誦人所求成就。又復有人以業報故。身患㾢病及惡瘡癬。即于佛前誦陀羅尼三遍。加持瞿摩夷及香泥。作曼拏羅供養佛已。然取曼拏羅香泥塗于已身。所患瘡癩速得除瘥。乃至宿業亦得除滅。即說陀羅尼曰。

爾時世尊告訴阿難(Ananda,佛陀的十大弟子之一)說:『有一陀羅尼(Dharani,總持、真言)名為栴檀香身(Candana- gandha-kaya)。此陀羅尼有大威力,能給予眾生廣大的福德聚集。如果有人得到此陀羅尼,以至誠之心讀誦受持,堅定不退,這個人所有極重的宿業都能消滅,將來獲得殊勝的果報。又如果有人想要見到觀自在菩薩(Avalokiteśvara,觀世音菩薩),先在清凈之處持誦精熟,然後選擇吉祥的日子,在日初出時用白檀香涂曼拏羅(Mandala,壇城)。在曼拏羅中焚燒栴檀香,獻上殊妙的花。就開始誦持陀羅尼八千遍,達到遍數后,就在曼拏羅前鋪上吉祥草,虔誠地躺臥。這樣經過七日,就能得到菩薩顯現真身,令持誦人所求如願。又如果有人因為業報的緣故,身患癩病以及惡瘡癬,就在佛前誦持陀羅尼三遍,加持牛糞(瞿摩夷,Gomaya)及香泥,製作曼拏羅供養佛后,然後取曼拏羅上的香泥塗抹在自己身上,所患的瘡癩很快就能痊癒,乃至宿業也能消除。』
即說陀羅尼曰:
『那莫室贊(Namah śrī-,敬禮吉祥)那曩(nānām,種種)誐野(gaya,歌詠)怛他(tathā,如來)誐多(gata,去)野(ya,者)阿啰曷(arhat,阿羅漢)帝(te,彼)三藐訖三(samyak-sam,正等)沒馱(buddha,佛陀)野(ya,者)那莫室贊(Namah śrī-,敬禮吉祥)捺啰(dra,堅固)缽啰(pra,勝)婆(bhā,光)嚩(va,有)野(ya,者)酤摩啰部(kumāra-bhū,童子身)多(tāya,與)野(ya,者)那莫阿(nama ā,敬禮)哥(kā,虛空)舍誐哩婆(ākāśagarbha,虛空藏)野(ya,者)』
【English Translation】 English version
The Buddha Speaks of the Candana-gandha-kaya Dharani Sutra
Translated by Tripiṭaka Master Fa Xian of the Mingjiao Monastery, Great Officer of the Imperial Secretariat, and Acting Vice President of the Court of Imperial Sacrifices, by Imperial Order.
At that time, the World Honored One told Ananda (one of the ten principal disciples of the Buddha): 'There is a dharani (a type of mantra or incantation) called Candana-gandha-kaya (Sandalwood Fragrant Body). This dharani has great power and can bestow vast accumulations of merit upon sentient beings. If someone obtains this dharani and recites, upholds, and maintains it with utmost sincerity, without wavering, all of that person's extremely heavy karmic debts will be extinguished, and in the future, they will obtain supreme and extraordinary rewards. Furthermore, if someone wishes to see Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva (the Bodhisattva of Compassion), they should first recite and master this dharani in a clean place. Then, choose an auspicious day and, at sunrise, use white sandalwood to paint a mandala (a symbolic diagram). Burn sandalwood incense within the mandala and offer exquisite flowers. Then, begin reciting the dharani eight thousand times. Once the count is complete, spread auspicious grass in front of the mandala and lie down with a reverent heart. After seven days, the Bodhisattva will appear in their true form, fulfilling the wishes of the person who recites the dharani. Moreover, if someone suffers from leprosy or malignant sores and skin diseases due to karmic retribution, they should recite this dharani three times before the Buddha, bless cow dung (Gomaya) and fragrant mud, create a mandala, and make offerings to the Buddha. Then, take the fragrant mud from the mandala and apply it to their body. The sores and leprosy will quickly be healed, and even past karmic debts will be eliminated.'
Then the Buddha spoke the dharani:
'Namo śrī- (Homage to auspiciousness) nānām (various) gaya (singing) tathā (thus) gata (gone) ya (one) arhat (Arhat) te (that) samyak-sam (perfectly complete) buddha (Buddha) ya (one) Namo śrī- (Homage to auspiciousness) dra (firm) pra (excellent) bhā (light) va (having) ya (one) kumāra-bhū (youthful form) taya (to) ya (one) nama ā (homage to) kā (space) śagarbha (Akashagarbha) ya (one)'

《佛說栴檀香身陀羅尼經》
【English Translation】 English version: Namo Bodhisattvaya (obeisance to the Bodhisattva), Mahasattvaya (great being, Bodhisattva). Namo Arya (noble) Avalokitesvaraya (the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara), Bodhisattvaya, Mahasattvaya, Mahakarunikaya (great compassionate one). Arya Avalokitesvarasya, Adhisthani (empowerment) na. Ni sheye shamih. Tadyatha (thus it is): Vigati mari cici, Dridha mami, Dranu pravishti, Chandana gandhe, Samanta parishodhani, Shuddha shili, Charitra vati, Maha pratapi, Sarva Buddha Adhisthite, Bhagavati (blessed one), Papa vinashani, Svaha (may it be accomplished).
At that time, Ananda (one of the ten great disciples of the Buddha), having heard the Buddha speak this great dharani, rejoiced, believed, accepted it, prostrated to the Buddha, and withdrew.
