佛在摩竭國因沙奪山中。時佛子羅云隨佛在山中。羅云夜臥為鬼神所嬈驚起。明日至佛所為佛作禮。卻在一面樹下坐。羅云以手扶頰。低頭不樂默然不語。佛即問羅云。何以低頭如畏怖狀。羅云言我昨日夜臥。為鬼神所嬈。佛語羅云。天下或生人嬈人。或山神嬈人。或道溝邊鬼神嬈人。或善死鬼神嬈人。來欲試人經道恐人。欲知其心堅濡。佛語羅云。汝取佛辟鬼神咒。后儻有鬼神來嬈汝者。持是鬼神名字。以慈心說之。
阿波竭 證證竭 無多薩 憘遲比遲沾波沾波迦羅準 維陵無 因輪無 指輪無 漢沙無 因登羅 宋林羅 和林羅 波耶越羅 檀特羅
佛言是檀特羅經。佛故為諸弟子結恩經。佛告諸弟子。有急者當讀之。鬼神儻來嬈人者。當持慈心哀心。凈還自視五藏思念五藏。佛說是經時。日月尚有墮地。佛語終不有異。今佛說是檀特羅經。以說生人慾來嬈人者不得嬈人。山神亦不得嬈人。道溝邊鬼神亦不得嬈人。腥死鬼神亦不得嬈人。善死鬼神亦不得嬈人。聞是語火為不然。食飯得毒毒為不行。欲殺人刀為不向。溺深水中為不沒難。群有四

佛陀在摩竭國(Magadha,古印度十六雄國之一)因沙奪山中。當時佛子羅云(Rahula,佛陀的兒子)隨佛在山中。羅云夜裡睡覺時被鬼神所擾,驚醒起來。第二天到佛陀處,向佛陀行禮,然後在一棵樹下坐在一旁。羅云用手托著臉頰,低著頭,不高興,沉默不語。佛陀就問羅云:『為什麼低著頭,好像很害怕的樣子?』羅云說:『我昨天夜裡睡覺,被鬼神所擾。』佛陀告訴羅云:『天下或許是活人擾亂人,或許是山神擾亂人,或許是道路溝渠邊的鬼神擾亂人,或許是橫死鬼神擾亂人。他們來試探修行人,恐嚇修行人,想知道他們的心是堅定還是軟弱。』佛陀告訴羅云:『你拿走佛陀辟除鬼神的咒語。以後如果有鬼神來擾亂你,拿著這些鬼神的名字,用慈悲心念誦。』

佛陀說:『這是檀特羅經(Tanteluo Sutra)。佛陀特意為眾弟子結下恩德的經典。』佛陀告訴眾弟子:『遇到緊急情況時,應當讀誦此經。鬼神如果來擾亂人,應當懷著慈悲心和哀憐心,清凈地反觀自身五臟,思念五臟。』佛陀宣說這部經時,即使日月也會墜落於地,佛陀的話語終究不會有差異。現在佛陀宣說這部檀特羅經,憑藉此經,活人想要來擾亂人,就不能擾亂人;山神也不能擾亂人;道路溝渠邊的鬼神也不能擾亂人;橫死鬼神也不能擾亂人;善終鬼神也不能擾亂人。聽到這些話,火將不能燃燒,吃飯吃到毒藥,毒藥也不能起作用,想要殺人,刀也不會指向他,溺入深水中也不會被淹沒。』群有四

The Sutra of Tantra Mayu Spoken by the Buddha
Translated by Zhu Tanwulan of the Eastern Jin Dynasty
The Buddha was in Mount Yinshaduota in Magadha (one of the sixteen ancient Indian kingdoms). At that time, the Buddha's son Rahula (the Buddha's son) was with the Buddha in the mountain. Rahula was disturbed by ghosts and spirits while sleeping at night and woke up in fright. The next day, he went to the Buddha, paid homage to the Buddha, and then sat down under a tree on one side. Rahula supported his cheek with his hand, lowered his head, unhappy, and remained silent. The Buddha then asked Rahula, 'Why do you lower your head as if you are afraid?' Rahula said, 'I was disturbed by ghosts and spirits while sleeping last night.' The Buddha told Rahula, 'In the world, perhaps it is living people who disturb people, or mountain gods who disturb people, or ghosts and spirits by the roadside ditches who disturb people, or those who died violent deaths who disturb people. They come to test practitioners, frighten practitioners, and want to know whether their minds are firm or weak.' The Buddha told Rahula, 'Take this mantra of the Buddha to ward off ghosts and spirits. In the future, if ghosts and spirits come to disturb you, hold these names of the ghosts and spirits and recite them with a compassionate heart.'

The Buddha said, 'This is the Tantra Sutra. The Buddha specifically established this sutra of grace for all disciples.' The Buddha told the disciples, 'When encountering an emergency, one should recite this sutra. If ghosts and spirits come to disturb people, one should hold a compassionate and sympathetic heart, purify oneself, look inward at one's five internal organs, and contemplate the five internal organs.' When the Buddha spoke this sutra, even the sun and moon would fall to the ground, but the Buddha's words would never be different. Now the Buddha speaks this Tantra Sutra, and by virtue of this sutra, if living people want to come and disturb people, they cannot disturb people; mountain gods also cannot disturb people; ghosts and spirits by the roadside ditches also cannot disturb people; those who died violent deaths also cannot disturb people; those who died peacefully also cannot disturb people. Hearing these words, fire will not burn, eating poisoned food will not cause harm, wanting to kill someone, the knife will not point towards them, and drowning in deep water will not cause death.' There are four groups
子人行空閑處。若行縣邑中大國中。若對會若大坐中。耆老中伴侶中。步行中坐臥中。值有蠱道家者。向讀是經蠱道為不行。佛即為羅云說。使羅云爲諸比丘比丘尼優婆塞優婆夷及諸白衣。皆令諷誦之。
【現代漢語翻譯】 現代漢語譯本: 如果有人在空閑的地方行走,或者在城鎮、大國中行走,或者在聚會、大型集會中,或者在長者、同伴中,或者在步行、坐臥中,遇到有使用蠱術的人,對著他誦讀這部經,蠱術就無法生效。佛陀就為羅云(Rahula,佛陀的兒子)講述這部經,讓羅云教導所有的比丘(bhikshus,男性出家人)、比丘尼(bhikshunis,女性出家人)、優婆塞(upasakas,在家男居士)、優婆夷(upasikas,在家女居士)以及所有的在家信徒,都讓他們背誦這部經。 問:世尊,這部經叫什麼名字?我們應該如何奉持? 佛陀告訴羅云:這部經名為《斷蠱道經》(Duangu Dao Jing,經名),你們應當奉持它。
【English Translation】 English version: If someone is walking in a secluded place, or walking in towns, great countries, or in gatherings, large assemblies, or among elders, companions, or while walking, sitting, or lying down, and encounters someone practicing witchcraft, if they recite this sutra towards them, the witchcraft will not work. The Buddha then spoke this sutra for Rahula (佛陀的兒子), instructing Rahula to teach all the bhikshus (男性出家人), bhikshunis (女性出家人), upasakas (在家男居士), upasikas (在家女居士), and all lay followers to recite it. Question: World Honored One, what is the name of this sutra? How should we uphold it? The Buddha told Rahula: This sutra is named the 'Sutra on Severing Witchcraft' (經名), you should uphold it accordingly.
