如是我聞。一時佛在睹史多天宮中。與妙住等無數千菩薩摩訶薩俱。是諸菩薩摩訶薩。皆得具足諸法轉不退輪。一生當得無上正等正覺。是時復有無量天眾並諸營從亦來集會。

爾時世尊在大眾中處大寶座顧視眾會欲說妙法。時妙住菩薩摩訶薩。從座而起詣世尊前。五輪著地禮已白言。世尊有彼善男子。得此如意寶總持章句一心受持於過去見在未來世尊。不見不聞亦不值遇者。是事云何當有何因。唯愿如來普為我等一一開說。乃至未來一切眾生使無疑惑。說是語已颙然而住。爾時世尊告妙住菩薩言。汝大方便能問斯事。汝當諦聽為汝宣說。

佛言妙住彼善男子。受持此如意寶總持章句者。而於過去見在及彼未來。雖行利益常住福業。又復於此總持章句疑未斷故。妙住此雖受持而非受持。所以者何此人住有為心。無善巧智無方便故。若彼善男子於此總持章句。心無疑惑決定專注。是則名為真受持者。是則名為知過去未來及以見在說法師名。是則名為見過去未來及以見在說法師相。亦復得見過去未來及以見在正

爾時,世尊在大眾中,處於大寶座上,顧視眾會,想要宣說妙法。這時,妙住菩薩摩訶薩,從座位上起身,來到世尊前,五輪著地,禮拜后稟告說:『世尊,如果有善男子,得到這如意寶總持章句(Cintamani-dharani),一心受持,但於過去、現在、未來諸佛世尊,不見、不聞、亦不值遇,這是什麼緣故?當有什麼因由?唯愿如來普為我等一一開示解說,乃至未來一切眾生,使無疑惑。』說完這話后,恭敬地站立在那裡。這時,世尊告訴妙住菩薩說:『你大方便,能問這樣的事情。你應當仔細聽,我為你宣說。』

佛言:『妙住,那些受持此如意寶總持章句的善男子,對於過去、現在以及未來,雖然行利益常住福業,又因此總持章句的疑惑未斷。妙住,這樣雖說受持,卻非真受持。為什麼呢?因為此人住于有為心,沒有善巧智慧,沒有方便之故。如果善男子對於此總持章句,心無疑惑,決定專注,這才是真受持者。這才是知曉過去、未來以及現在說法師的名號。這才是見到過去、未來以及現在說法師的相貌。也才能得見過去、未來以及現在正'

【English Translation】 English version The Sutra of the Dharani King of the Wish-Fulfilling Jewel Spoken by the Buddha

Translated by the Tripitaka Master Shihu, Minister of Honglu Temple and Great Master of Spreading the Dharma, under Imperial Decree, from the Western Regions

Thus have I heard. At one time, the Buddha was in the Tushita Heaven Palace, together with countless thousands of Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas, including Miaozhu (Wonderful Abode). These Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas had all fully attained the irreversible wheel of Dharma. In one lifetime, they would attain Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi (Unsurpassed Perfect Enlightenment). At that time, there were also immeasurable hosts of devas and their retinues who came to assemble.

Then, the World-Honored One, seated on a great jeweled throne in the midst of the assembly, gazed upon the gathering, intending to expound the wonderful Dharma. At that time, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva Miaozhu arose from his seat, approached the World-Honored One, prostrated with his five limbs touching the ground, and said: 'World-Honored One, if there are good men who obtain this Cintamani-dharani (Wish-Fulfilling Jewel Dharani), and uphold it with a single mind, but do not see, hear, or encounter the Buddhas of the past, present, and future, what is the reason for this? What is the cause? May the Tathagata universally explain it to us one by one, and to all sentient beings in the future, so that they may be without doubt.' Having spoken these words, he stood there respectfully. At that time, the World-Honored One said to the Bodhisattva Miaozhu: 'You are greatly skillful in asking such a question. Listen carefully, and I will explain it to you.'

The Buddha said: 'Miaozhu, those good men who uphold this Cintamani-dharani, although they perform beneficial and enduring meritorious deeds in the past, present, and future, still have doubts about this dharani that have not been resolved. Miaozhu, although they are said to uphold it, they are not truly upholding it. Why? Because these people dwell in conditioned minds, without skillful wisdom, without expedient means. If a good man has no doubts about this dharani, and is decisively focused, then he is truly upholding it. Then he knows the names of the Dharma teachers of the past, future, and present. Then he sees the forms of the Dharma teachers of the past, future, and present. And then he can see the past, future and present right'


遍知者。何以故妙住是人于總持門而妙解故。又復于信不信而不住故。又復了知無去無來。不生不滅。非空非不空。無瑞相非無瑞相。無愿求非無愿求。亦復于如是法無取著故。妙住彼善男子。能如是積行住無所住。是則名住是得涅盤。是名受持供養此如意寶總持章句。是名得無趣無壞之義。是名得無疑力。是名得尸羅清凈。是名得一切法平等究竟成佛見所說法。無自無他非和合非不和合。妙住彼善男子。若恒修是行即得自無染。若得無染亦得無縛。若自無縛令他無縛。若自他無縛亦不住解脫。妙住若彼不染不縛不住解脫。是則名為得如意寶總持。又于如來族名知過去佛最上之明。亦名知未來佛最上之明。亦名知見在佛最上之明。妙住此如意寶總持章句。乃是過去未來見在佛母。何因緣故為住過去未來見在得利益故。妙住若菩薩摩訶薩。受持此如意寶總持章句者。當知得名供養稱讚無數諸佛。亦復得名于無數佛聞無上法。又復得無數佛稱讚護念。亦得佛無量福智生故。妙住若受持此如意寶總持章句者。凡有所求無不獲得。求聰明得聰明。求總持得總持。求七寶得七寶。妙住若善男子于如是事有人求者。當須於半月中。清凈志心以乳為食。於我佛族作大供養。然持誦此如意寶總持章句。一心專注而無間斷。凡所求事無不

【English Translation】 English version: O All-Knowing One (Sarvajna, referring to the Buddha). What is the reason? It is because Sudarshana (妙住) is able to skillfully understand the dharani-mukha (總持門, the gateway of retention, the method of remembering and maintaining the Dharma). Moreover, it is because he does not dwell on belief or disbelief. Furthermore, it is because he understands that all dharmas have no going, no coming, no birth, no death, neither emptiness nor non-emptiness, neither auspicious signs nor the absence of auspicious signs, neither wishes nor the absence of wishes. It is also because he has no attachment to such dharmas. O Sudarshana, this good man, being able to accumulate practice in this way, dwells in non-dwelling. This is called dwelling, this is called attaining Nirvana (涅槃). This is called receiving, upholding, and making offerings to this cintamani-dharani-vakya (如意寶總持章句, the jewel-fulfilling mantra). This is called attaining the meaning of no interest and no destruction. This is called attaining the power of no doubt. This is called attaining the purity of Sila (尸羅, precepts). This is called attaining the equality of all dharmas, ultimately accomplishing the Dharma spoken by the Buddha's vision, without self, without other, neither combination nor non-combination. O Sudarshana, if this good man constantly cultivates this practice, he will attain self without defilement. If he attains no defilement, he will also attain no bondage. If he himself has no bondage, he can also cause others to have no bondage. If both self and others have no bondage, he also does not dwell in liberation. O Sudarshana, if he is not defiled, not bound, and does not dwell in liberation, this is called attaining the cintamani-dharani (如意寶總持). Moreover, within the Tathagata family, he knows the supreme light of the past Buddhas, he also knows the supreme light of the future Buddhas, and he also knows the supreme light of the present Buddhas. O Sudarshana, this cintamani-dharani-vakya (如意寶總持章句) is the mother of the Buddhas of the past, future, and present. What is the cause and condition? It is for the sake of dwelling in the past, future, and present and attaining benefits. O Sudarshana, if a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva (菩薩摩訶薩, great Bodhisattva) upholds this cintamani-dharani-vakya (如意寶總持章句), you should know that he is named as making offerings and praising countless Buddhas, and he is also named as hearing the unsurpassed Dharma from countless Buddhas, and he also obtains the praise and protection of countless Buddhas, and he also obtains the arising of the Buddha's immeasurable blessings and wisdom. O Sudarshana, if one upholds this cintamani-dharani-vakya (如意寶總持章句), whatever is sought will be obtained. Seeking intelligence, one obtains intelligence; seeking dharani, one obtains dharani; seeking the seven treasures, one obtains the seven treasures. O Sudarshana, if there is a good man who seeks such things, he should, for half a month, with a pure mind, take milk as food, make great offerings to my Buddha family, and then recite this cintamani-dharani-vakya (如意寶總持章句), with focused attention and without interruption, and whatever is sought will be accomplished.


獲得。妙住若有受持如是總持章句者。以此總持章句威德之力。設使有恒河沙數世界之中。所有天龍阿修羅迦樓羅緊曩羅摩睺羅伽鳩槃茶乃至人非人等。如是之眾有極惡之心無能惱亂。以至星宿及尾也(二合)拏等亦不能惱害。何以故以法力所加護故。又有賢愛菩薩大金剛手菩薩等而擁護故。而此菩薩於此知足天。乃至色究竟天而常擁護。何況於人間持誦之者。妙住非唯此菩薩等。諸佛之心亦恒護念。何以故為受持此如意寶總持章句故。

爾時世尊說是法已。妙住菩薩及會中無數千菩薩。及天眾並諸營從等。得聞法已歡喜踴躍禮佛而退。

【English Translation】 English version: The Buddha said, 'Myoju (name of a Bodhisattva), if anyone receives and upholds such a Dharani (總持章句), by the power and virtue of this Dharani, even in worlds as numerous as the sands of the Ganges, all the Devas (天神) and Nagas (龍), Asuras (阿修羅, non-gods), Garudas (迦樓羅, golden-winged birds), Kinnaras (緊那羅, celestial musicians), Mahoragas (摩睺羅伽, great serpent deities), Kumbhandas (鳩槃茶, pot-shaped demons), and even humans and non-humans, such beings, even with extremely evil intentions, will not be able to disturb them. Even constellations and Nakshatras (尾也拏, constellations) will not be able to harm them.' 'Why is that? Because they are protected by the power of the Dharma. Moreover, they are protected by Bodhisattvas such as the Worthy Love Bodhisattva and the Great Vajrapani Bodhisattva. And these Bodhisattvas constantly protect them in Tushita Heaven (知足天) and even Akanistha Heaven (色究竟天). How much more so those who recite and uphold this Dharani in the human realm? Myoju, not only these Bodhisattvas, but the minds of all Buddhas constantly protect and remember them. Why is that? Because they receive and uphold this Wish-Fulfilling Jewel Dharani.' At that time, after the World Honored One finished speaking this Dharma, Myoju Bodhisattva and countless thousands of Bodhisattvas in the assembly, as well as the Devas and their retinues, having heard the Dharma, rejoiced and danced, prostrated to the Buddha, and withdrew.
