如來滅后一百餘年。有王名阿諭伽。亦名阿育王。王閻浮提。諸國競來問訊。問其除橫之法。爾時阿育王國中人民。多患貧窮困飢寒裸露。不能存立。爾時大王至雞頭末寺。禮拜眾僧。兼說人民貧苦之狀。爾時眾中有一比丘。名曰菟路知。出大眾中而白王言。當如意寶珠濟益眾生。王言。云何當得如意寶珠。比丘言。應作十種法。一者求佛故。名得財物施與眾生。二者求法故。三者供養僧故。四者安穩國土故。五者救人民故。六者巧埋塔寺故。七者威伏鄰國故。八者為求帝釋供具故。九者供養佛故。十者為諸人民作大富饒益故。當於正月一日。燃七燈。各各盞各一百二十盞在處供養天像。又作釋迦如來像莊嚴。庶有諸聲聞菩薩違繞。如行大王。當知如來功能不可思議。供養之者必得如意寶珠也。是故大王。供養于佛。供養佛者。懸繒幡蓋。燒上妙香。以二月八日。入海采寶。去不逾月而得寶珠。又復當得如意珠。珠有二種。一者大如意。二者小如意。小如意者。求始得之。大如意者。自然雨寶于天地。大王當知求大如意者。心中求之。勿在外更覓他法。七法之中。無不有利益國土人民。所以者何。止

【English Translation】 English version Nāgārjuna's Treatise on the Five Vidyās, Scroll 1

More than a hundred years after the Parinirvana of the Tathagata (Thus Come One, an epithet of the Buddha), there was a king named Ayu-ga (a personal name), also known as King Ashoka (an Indian Mauryan emperor). He ruled Jambudvipa (the world we live in). Envoys from various countries came to inquire about the methods to eliminate unexpected disasters. At that time, the people in King Ashoka's country mostly suffered from poverty, hunger, and cold, making it difficult for them to survive. Then, the great king went to Kukkutarama Monastery (a monastery name), paid homage to the Sangha (the monastic community), and described the poverty of the people. At that time, a bhiksu (a Buddhist monk) named Turuci (a personal name) emerged from the assembly and said to the king: 'You should use the Cintamani Jewel (wish-fulfilling jewel) to benefit sentient beings.' The king asked: 'How can one obtain the Cintamani Jewel?' The bhiksu said: 'One should perform ten kinds of deeds: first, for the sake of seeking the Buddha (the founder of Buddhism), obtain wealth and give it to sentient beings; second, for the sake of seeking the Dharma (the teachings of the Buddha); third, for the sake of making offerings to the Sangha; fourth, for the sake of stabilizing the country (territory); fifth, for the sake of saving the people; sixth, for the sake of skillfully burying stupas and viharas (pagodas and monasteries); seventh, for the sake of intimidating and subduing neighboring countries; eighth, for the sake of seeking the implements of Indra (a deity in Buddhism); ninth, for the sake of making offerings to the Buddha; tenth, for the sake of bringing great wealth and benefit to the people. On the first day of the first month, one should light seven lamps, each with one hundred and twenty wicks, and make offerings to the images of the deities in various places. One should also create a magnificent image of Sakyamuni Buddha (the founder of Buddhism), hoping that various sravakas (disciples who attain enlightenment by hearing the teachings) and bodhisattvas (beings who vow to save all sentient beings) will surround it, like a great king on a procession. You should know that the merits of the Tathagata are inconceivable, and those who make offerings to him will surely obtain the Cintamani Jewel.' Therefore, Your Majesty, you should make offerings to the Buddha. The method of making offerings to the Buddha is to hang silk banners and canopies, burn excellent incense, and on the eighth day of the second month, go to the sea to collect treasures, and within a month you will obtain the jewel. Moreover, you will also obtain the Cintamani Jewel. There are two kinds of jewels, one is the Great Cintamani, and the other is the Small Cintamani. The Small Cintamani can only be obtained after seeking it. The Great Cintamani naturally rains down treasures from heaven and earth. Your Majesty should know that to seek the Great Cintamani, you must seek it in your heart, do not seek other methods externally. Among these seven methods, there is none that cannot benefit the country and the people. Why is this so? Stop (the following text is missing)


見劫奪殺生之法。大作庫藏。損害人民。不堪自然為亂。父子兄弟設入官手賜之家。更願荒亂。亂不息國法[利-禾+(序-予+(共-八+(人*人)))]滅。誰共大王治南閻浮提。大王放赦獄中囚徒。年五十免其役。貧者令與富驅使以活性命。此是大如意以濟眾生。非是寶珠雨以濟物。大王命終之後。國土分散。人民流死。如來正法旋於十方。城壁崩到。官為山野。王當三思民利之事。又令末世粟散諸王貪慕王法燃燃者。當燃燈法。勿燃燈如事燈。云何法燈燃。以一治法垂。示後代明不絕。爾時大王聞說是語。慈悲懺悔。入于官中七日不出。敕出大臣令求利益。於時有南天竺國比丘舊是外道慕法出家。如白王言。我昔尋外法中有利益人民之法。今日出家入佛法中。亦有利益眾生之法。一者符能招財寶。隨土而得。二者慕治眾生病。隨治即差。三者正法能令風雨順時。龍王歡喜。王聞是語。敕用其法皆利一切眾生。當如七月七日取山云竹七枚長七尺者。置畫符中。其符曰。天帝教我利益眾生。一切龍鬼隨我使令。又取章柳刻作人形。作一罈以章柳置上。以繞壇側然後咒曰。

歸依天帝釋。風神來濟眾生。火神來起光明。雨神來百穀熟成。寶神來錢財集。地神來安穩眾生。為某甲為某事令使。今年皆悉稱。急

【English Translation】 English version Seeing the methods of robbery and killing, they build up large storehouses, harming the people, and are unable to avoid the chaos caused by natural disasters. Even if fathers, sons, and brothers enter the government and receive rewards, they would rather see the world in chaos. If the war does not cease, the laws of the country will decline and perish. Who will govern Jambudvipa (the world we live in) with the Great King? The Great King should pardon the prisoners in prison, exempt those who are fifty years old from corvée labor, and let the poor be hired and driven by the rich to maintain their livelihoods. This is the great Cintamani (wish-fulfilling jewel) to save all beings, not using jewels to rain down to save all things. After the Great King passes away, the country will be divided, and the people will be displaced and die. The Tathagata's (the thus-gone one, an epithet of the Buddha) true Dharma (teachings) will spread in all directions, the city walls will collapse, and the government will become wilderness. The King should seriously consider matters concerning the interests of the people. Also, warn the petty kings of the degenerate age, who are as weak as scattered millet, if they covet the laws of the king, burning like fire, they should light the Dharma lamp, not treat the lamp as an ordinary lamp. What is lighting the Dharma lamp? It is to use a method of governance, to show it to future generations, so that the light will never be extinguished. At that time, the Great King heard these words, repented with compassion, entered the palace and did not come out for seven days, and ordered the ministers to seek benefits. At this time, there was a bhiksu (Buddhist monk) from South India, who used to be a follower of non-Buddhist paths, who admired the Dharma and became a monk, and reported to the Great King: 'I used to seek the methods of non-Buddhist paths, among which there are methods to benefit the people. Now that I have become a monk and entered the Buddha-dharma, there are also methods to benefit all beings. First, talismans can attract wealth and treasures, which can be obtained everywhere. Second, they can treat the diseases of sentient beings, and they will be cured as soon as they are treated. Third, the true Dharma can make the wind and rain timely, and the Naga Raja (dragon king) will be happy.' The Great King heard these words and ordered these methods to be used to benefit all beings. On the seventh day of the seventh month, take seven mountain cloud bamboos, each seven feet long, and place them in the drawn talisman. The talisman reads: 'Deva (god) teaches me to benefit all beings, all Nagas (dragons) and ghosts follow my orders.' Also, take Zhang willow wood and carve it into a human figure, make an altar, put the Zhang willow wood figure on it, surround the altar with Zhang willow wood, and then chant the mantra: 'Take refuge in Indra (king of the gods), Vayu (god of wind) comes to save all beings, Agni (god of fire) comes to light up the light, Varuna (god of rain) comes to make all grains ripen, Kubera (god of wealth) comes to gather money, Prithvi (god of earth) comes to stabilize all beings. For so-and-so, for so-and-so, let them all have their wishes fulfilled this year, quickly!'

誦之□遍。取章柳令埋著庭前。四方財物悉來集聚。其竹置宅四角。若其行時隨身行。是利益民事。王得是語。令教萬姓大有利益。

又于正月一日。誦乞愿咒一千八返。國中大小平吉。諸惡鬼神不來繞亂。即說咒曰。

多跌他 其帝其帝其[(匕/示)*(入/米)]帝 其多其多遽呼盧 彌遮彌遮攘攘其多 多利多利彌帝利 佉佉其怛羅佛姡 娑婆呵

誦一千八返。所作之事法得稱意。一切惡鬼皆悉遠離。護國土神見即歡喜。潔齋清凈七日訖。乃書利民符。若城中若柱中若殿上。若帶之能令邪鬼不來繞逼。所往之處皆悉歡喜。以朱沙書帛上廣一寸。持以擊虎。虎不能起。云何但擊虎書作虎形。以符擊之。乃至入山虎狼潛伏。取角楸廣四寸長一肘。書置宅門上。七神歡喜。百惡消滅。以符書背上。舊病得差。與產婦帶之。邪見走避產婦鬼神不能忓誤書符置臺園壢上。疫氣不起。書符置山神所。風雨順時。以符頭上避兵。書符置心前來財。書符著足下能行。此符能竭海水。能崩山嶽。仙人得之能□天地。

凡人得之化作大仙藥者。五月五日。取牛黃大如雀子。于姜四兩。麻八兩。黃芩一兩。大黃五兩。甘草二兩。於七月七日。令童子搗之。以蜜和作丸用之。若人病悉𤷡病

凡人得到它能變化成大仙。藥的製作方法:五月五日,取牛黃(一種藥材,取自牛的膽囊)大如雀子,配以姜四兩,麻八兩,黃芩(一種藥材)一兩,大黃(一種藥材)五兩,甘草(一種藥材)二兩。在七月七日,讓童子搗碎它們,用蜂蜜調和做成藥丸服用。如果有人生病,各種疾病都會痊癒。

【English Translation】 English version Quick, Act as the Statutes Command!

Recite this mantra □ times. Take a branch of the Zhang willow and bury it in front of the courtyard. Wealth and treasures from all directions will gather. Place bamboo in the four corners of the house. If you carry it with you when traveling, it is a matter of benefiting the people. If the king obtains this mantra and orders it to be taught to the people, there will be great benefits.

Also, on the first day of the first month, recite the Petitioning Mantra one thousand eight hundred times. The country, both large and small, will be peaceful and auspicious. All kinds of evil ghosts and spirits will not come to disturb. The mantra is as follows:

Tad-yatha gate gate para-gate para-sam-gate bodhi svaha

Recite it one thousand eight hundred times, and the things you do will be as you wish. All evil ghosts will be far away. The gods protecting the country will be very happy to see it. After fasting and purifying yourself for seven days, write the talisman for the benefit of the people. If it is placed in the city, on pillars, or in halls, or worn on the body, it can prevent evil ghosts from disturbing you. Wherever you go, there will be joy. Write it with cinnabar on silk, one inch wide, and use it to strike a tiger, and the tiger will not be able to move. Why only strike tigers? You can draw the shape of a tiger and strike it with the talisman. Even when entering the mountains, tigers and wolves will hide. Take a piece of hornbeam wood (a type of wood) four inches wide and one cubit long, write the talisman on it, and place it on the door of the house. The seven gods will be happy, and all evils will be eliminated. Write the talisman on the back, and old illnesses will be cured. Give it to a woman in childbirth to wear, and evil views will flee, and ghosts and spirits will not be able to interfere. Write the talisman and place it on a platform, garden, or tomb, and epidemics will not occur. Write the talisman and place it where the mountain god resides, and the wind and rain will be favorable. Place the talisman on your head to avoid war. Write the talisman and place it in front of your heart to attract wealth. Write the talisman and place it under your feet to be able to walk. This talisman can dry up the sea and collapse mountains. If immortals obtain it, they can □ heaven and earth.

Ordinary people who obtain it can transform into great immortals. The method of making the medicine: On the fifth day of the fifth month, take bezoar (a medicinal ingredient, taken from the gall bladder of a cow) as large as a sparrow, and combine it with four liang of ginger, eight liang of sesame, one liang of Scutellaria baicalensis (a medicinal herb), five liang of rhubarb (a medicinal herb), and two liang of licorice (a medicinal herb). On the seventh day of the seventh month, have a child pound them, mix them with honey, and make them into pills to take. If a person is sick, all kinds of diseases will be cured.


吐病水病腸痛心四胑腫卒風頭霍亂心悶方重噎不得喘息。取上件藥丸。丸如小豆。兩丸與服之。須臾之間而見病鬼奔走而去。兼復吐利發汗。宿食淡陰。積血微癖。產後帶下痔不斷。大小便利不通皆悉除愈。爾皆霜雨不歇六十餘日。禾穀在地民不牧刈。是比丘為作求天法。而歇云除日。出城當門取緋六十尺。縫為三幅。畫作一龍。有十二頭。昇天而上。復作金翅鳥。來食此龍。以焱燒紫檀木為火。取薰陸香一百八堁。誦上件咒。一遍燒一堁。盡即雨止。又復取虛中土門作狗形。置城四角上得雨止。又閉市四門亦得雨止。如是法藥符術。皆能利民世帝之法。

利民頭二符。是品大仙為育王說利民符。為國土衰秏。疫病邪鬼入境。災變侶生。饑饉爭訟。婦女產難。懸官口舌。飛尸有疰者。俱奉敬三寶。懺悔自㥽宿因。對現在諸佛形像前。以朱沙書素陳符。依災時。治以除之。

第一七佛大神符。符主人身百年之中。或老或少。多病痛注誤勞冷。骨節疼痛。長病著床。喻陽病多饒溫氣。以素生絹一尺。真朱沙書此符佩之。百病去除。男左女右。

第二神符。能除懸官口舌。以朱書符佩之。念解脫月菩薩。枷鎖自得解脫。

第三符主己身百年不逢殃禍。飛尸各注野道咒咀。以絹七寸朱書佩之。男左女

【現代漢語翻譯】 現代漢語譯本:針對吐病、水病、腸痛、心痛、四肢腫脹、卒中、頭痛、霍亂、心悶、方重噎塞、無法喘息等癥狀,取以上藥物製成藥丸,如小豆大小,每次服用兩丸。不久之後,便可見病鬼奔走逃離,同時伴有嘔吐、腹瀉、發汗等反應,可清除宿食、痰飲、積血、微癖,以及產後惡露不盡、痔瘡不斷、大小便不通等癥狀,皆可痊癒。如果連日陰雨不歇六十餘日,禾苗在地無人收割,可由比丘修法祈求天晴,便可雨止雲散。出城在城門處取紅色布帛六十尺,縫製成三幅,畫上一條有十二個頭的龍,使其昇天。再畫一隻金翅鳥,使其來吞食此龍。用燃燒的紫檀木作為火焰,取薰陸香一百零八塊,誦唸以上咒語,每念一遍燒一塊,燒完即止雨。或者取空心土門上的泥土做成狗的形狀,放置在城池的四個角上,也能止雨。也可以關閉市場的四個門,也能止雨。像這樣的法藥、符咒之術,都能利益民眾,是世間帝王的法則。 利民頭二符。是品大仙為育王(Ayuwang,國王名)說利民符,爲了國土衰敗、疫病邪鬼入侵、災變頻發、饑荒爭訟、婦女難產、官司纏身、飛尸遊走、身患惡疾等情況。應恭敬供奉三寶,懺悔自己往昔的罪業,在現在諸佛的形像前,用硃砂書寫在白色的布帛上,根據災難的型別,採取相應的措施來消除災禍。 第一七佛大神符。如果符的主人在百年之中,無論年老或年輕,經常生病疼痛,如風濕、勞損、寒冷等引起的骨節疼痛,長期臥床不起,或者陽氣過盛,體內溫熱之氣過多,可以用一尺長的白色絲絹,用真硃砂書寫此符佩戴在身上,各種疾病都能去除。男子佩戴在左側,女子佩戴在右側。 第二神符。能消除官司口舌。用硃砂書寫此符佩戴在身上,唸誦解脫月菩薩(Jietuo Yue Pusa,菩薩名)的名號,枷鎖自然解脫。 第三符主自身百年不遭遇災禍,能避免飛尸、邪祟、野道咒詛的侵害。用七寸長的絹布,用硃砂書寫此符佩戴在身上,男子佩戴在左側,女子佩戴在右側。

【English Translation】 English version: For symptoms such as vomiting sickness, water sickness, intestinal pain, heart pain, swelling of the four limbs, stroke, headache, cholera, chest tightness, severe choking, and inability to breathe, take the above-mentioned medicinal ingredients and make them into pills the size of small beans. Take two pills each time. Shortly thereafter, you will see the disease-causing ghosts running away, accompanied by vomiting, diarrhea, and sweating. It can clear away accumulated food, phlegm, blood stasis, and minor ailments, as well as postpartum lochia that does not stop, persistent hemorrhoids, and blockages in urination and defecation, all of which can be cured. If it rains continuously for more than sixty days, and the crops in the fields are left unharvested, a Bhikkhu (Buddhist monk) can perform rituals to pray for clear weather, and the rain will stop and the clouds will disperse. Go outside the city to the city gate and take sixty feet of red silk cloth, sew it into three panels, and draw a dragon with twelve heads on it, causing it to ascend to the sky. Then draw a Garuda (mythical bird) to devour this dragon. Use burning sandalwood as fire, and take one hundred and eight pieces of olibanum, chanting the above mantra, burning one piece with each recitation, and the rain will stop when finished. Alternatively, take soil from the hollow earth gate and make it into the shape of a dog, placing it on the four corners of the city, which can also stop the rain. Closing the four gates of the market can also stop the rain. Such methods of medicinal remedies, talismans, and spells can benefit the people and are the laws of worldly emperors. The first two talismans for benefiting the people. The fifth talisman is mainly used to solve the problem of a daughter being unsuitable for marriage, resulting in her being too old. You can use a one-foot silk cloth, write this talisman with true cinnabar while holding your breath, and wear it on your arm. Dignitaries will respectfully come to propose marriage.

Empress Lü (呂后) had no husband at the age of twenty-five, and she obtained the power of this talisman. The former Empress Zhi (支皇后) was not married at the age of thirty, and she also obtained the power of this talisman, and eventually became the mother of the world. Seventeenthly, this is for situations where one is delirious in dreams, evil spirits seize the soul, and one is suppressed without realizing it. Write this talisman on a catalpa wood board and place it under the straw mat of the bed. Even if one has nightmares at night, they will turn into grass. If the owner of the talisman is about to die, the talisman will become ineffective.

Eighteenthly, this is for situations where brothers are not harmonious, divide fields and houses, separate without righteousness, or want to live together harmoniously, or one of them wants to take the lead. Write this talisman on raw silk with cinnabar and wear it, and it will bring great fortune, blessings, official rank will come naturally, and business ventures will be successful.

'Longshu Bodhisattva's Secret Instructions and Illustrated Sutra'

Those who desire to seek immortality as a divine being, transform their appearance, and command gods and spirits must purify themselves through fasting and abstinence, cultivate virtue, diligently make offerings, abstain from strong flavors, purify their bodies, and refrain from anger and cursing. Establish an altar at the place of death or birth. First, place a Longshu seat (Longshu zuo) inside the room. Face the four corners, arrange various fruits and milk porridge, and burn incense. Determine the position of the zuan, and remember the southwest side of the altar. Follow the heavenly gate and earthly portal of the twelve time periods. If there are newly picked fruits, offer them at the same time. Cleanse for seven days. After completing the practice, use seals to cure diseases, all according to the heavenly gate and earthly portal of the twelve time periods. Use seals according to the four seasons, and you will never fail.

Those who wish to receive and uphold talismanic arts must first arrange the twelve Chen (辰) divine gates. Tie a zuan (jie zuan) as a marker. The heavenly gate, earthly portal, ghost gate, and human gate must be upright and not crooked. Those who wish to practice seal methods should each exit from the gate they arrive at, and they will never fail.

Those who wish to employ spirits, desire wealth, treasures, and silks should exit through the Yang gate. Those who wish to attack others, gamble, or engage in disputes should exit through the Military gate. Those who are traveling to other places, far away and on long journeys, should exit through the Meeting gate. Those who wish to meet heavenly kings and honored dignitaries should exit through the Noble gate. Those who wish to issue jiao (燋) talismans and employ myriad spirits should exit through the Release gate. To see ghosts and communicate with the obstructed, exit through the Heavenly gate. To seek official positions as desired, exit through the Forbidden gate. To seek to marry women, exit through the Yin gate. To restrict talismans, exit through the Heavenly gate, and then return from the Earthly Portal. Practice according to the Dharma, and you will surely have effective results. Use well water to bathe and rinse your mouth. Go out six feet and six steps, knock your teeth three times, and say 'Great auspiciousness.' Be careful not to look back. You will never fail. Do not transmit it recklessly.

Longshu's twelve-hour divine talisman. Kills ghosts, cures diseases, awes the mind, and is efficacious. Should exit through the Divine gate.

Do not let anyone know, if someone knows, all the seals and talismans will be ineffective.

Prepare twelve talismans before chanting. Treat the five gods (wushen, five deities in Taoism) with care. The sound should be completely isolated. Collect the essence of the three souls (sanhun, Taoism believes that people have three souls), and completely guard the mother's heart. Make my things and delusions, the five viscera (wuzang, heart, liver, spleen, lungs, kidneys) stay away from searching the seven edges. Recite the spell a thousand times. Any spell that can be recited is acceptable. A Taoist altar (daochang, a place where Taoist rituals are performed) should be set up. Before the altar, initiate the intention of receiving and upholding. In the three months of spring, write with cinnabar, with mouth and teeth closed, facing east. Whenever you want to curse fire, chant it twenty-one times, then lick the fire with your tongue to eliminate the pain caused by metal. Chanting it twice can protect all medicines and people. When you want to prepare medicine, all the gods and ghosts will compete to take the taste of the medicine, and people often do not get good results after taking it. Therefore, whenever you want to prepare medicine, chant this mantra, and all the ghosts and gods will not be able to succeed, and the effect is significant.

If someone wishes to establish a boundary, take purple sandalwood, about the thickness of a finger and the length of a handful, and fashion it into four pegs. Chant over them one hundred and eight times and then drive the pegs into the four corners. All evil spirits and demons will be unable to approach. If one wishes to create a sacred space indoors, take a clean copper bowl, fill it with water, and chant over it twenty-one times. Use this water to sprinkle within the sacred space, as well as throughout the house, in all places. All evil entities will be unable to enter. If there are snakes in someone's dwelling, take white mustard seeds and chant over them seven times. Scatter the seeds around the perimeter, and the snakes will scatter and flee, unable to approach the dwelling. After reciting this mantra, all ghosts that create obstacles will immediately depart. Those who commit evil deeds will bark like dogs in broad daylight, unable to utter other words, and will not stop even if they do not understand. If you want to verify the function of the mantra, you can use two pieces of willow wood, have people hold one piece each under their armpits, and recite this mantra. It can make the willow wood stick together and close on its own at the waist. Then you will know that the mantra is effective.

Then, he would spit at them, and they would all contract illnesses that could not be cured and would not cease until they died. Just chant the mantra against [歹*(刃/一)] (referring to evil things or people), even if they are ignorant people obscured by the six sense objects (sight, sound, smell, taste, touch, and dharma), faith will arise in their hearts, and they will have no choice but to believe. If someone does not believe, do not give them this method. Use this method with good intentions, and the effect will be very significant.

If one eats them, the method will not succeed. The name of the Earth God is Lü Wan.

Incantation for Abstaining from Food

Bo zha na yaksha, bo zha na ti ye luo li, bo di zha, mo ye di zha, suo he.

Take two sheng (unit of volume) of Yu Yu Liang (brown hematite), one liang (unit of weight) of red halloysite, one liang of white quartz, and one liang of cinnabar. If you want to enter the house of a king, minister, elder, layman, or Brahmin, use this seal to stamp the soles of both feet, then stamp it on your chest, and then wear it on your head. When you go anywhere, others will not see your figure. If you want to appear, take clean water, recite the mantra twenty-one times, wash your hands, face, and the soles of your feet, and take off the seal from your head, and you will appear. If you encounter a water disaster, recite the mantra twenty-one times, close your eyes and take the seal, stamp it on the water, close your eyes and cross the water, and you will be able to overcome the difficulty. Even if ten people stand stacked on top of each other, holding the seal, stamping the person in front, this seal will penetrate through, without obstruction. If you do not dispel the stacked people, directly chant the mantra twenty-one times (three times seven) rubbing the surface of the seal, and use the seal on the person in front; the seal mark will appear on the backs of all ten people. If you wish to go to the homes of high officials or elders and become invisible, chant the mantra nine hundred times, coat the seal with cinnabar, and hold it in your left hand in front of your chest; people will not see you wherever you wish to go, nor will they see your form or shadow. If you go to the homes of high officials or elders and wish to suppress strange phenomena there, coat the seal with cinnabar, chant the mantra twenty-one times (three times seven), and place the seal on clean paper, affixing it to the wall of the hall; the family will not see this seal, but the elder will see various inauspicious omens, as well as Yakshas (Yakshas, a type of demon), evil Kumbhandas (Kumbhanda, a type of demon) and others gathering in his home, constantly like this. The family will seek out good doctors everywhere, perform sacrifices, and conduct Yansheng (Yansheng, an ancient type of witchcraft used to subdue ghosts or enemies through curses or sacrifices), but ultimately will not be able to resolve it. If you wish to make them generate faith, conveniently go there to preach the Dharma and transform them, causing them to be tamed and obedient, accepting transformation according to the person, and then remove the paper seal from the wall; all inauspicious events in the family will naturally be extinguished, and the elder will repent and respectfully follow the Three Jewels, gaining something. If you encounter royal troubles or urgent dangers, and the doors are closed, preventing you from leaving, chant the mantra seven times, and point the seal towards the door; the door will open by itself, without obstruction, and you will naturally escape the difficulty. The use of this seal is very effective, so do not recklessly transmit it to those who are not suitable. If there are believers, call them together to know. If you make the mudra, you must not eat the five pungent spices (garlic, small garlic, asafoetida, scallions, and chives). Ye li mi, mi li ye, suo po he

Recite the mantra forty-nine times. Use a white silk thread to tie forty-nine knots. Recite the mantra once and tie one knot. Utter 'invisible, invisible' in your mouth, and the mudra becomes invisible. When you want to undo the invisibility, recite the mantra once and untie one knot, until all the knots are untied. The mudra will then appear. It is very secret, do not transmit it to the world.

Discourse: If there is a man and all faithful sages, who want to perform this practice, they should set up a mandala (sacred space) in a clean room in a clean mountain. Use a piece of black agarwood, one inch square. Prepare a 'bin tie' knife. Place them in the clean room and do not let anyone see. Make offerings and prostrate to the wood and the knife, and to Nagarjuna Bodhisattva. Practice and prostrate six times day and night. The practitioner should only eat vegetarian food. Secretly carve in the mandala. Complete the carving by the forty-ninth day. After this deity is completed, forty-nine things must be verified. Holding this divine mudra, imprint it on the forehead, and people will not see your body. Imprint it on both feet, and you can cross the great sea and rivers, the water will be like land without any difference. Imprint it on the mouth to speak Dharma, and those who hear will all believe. Imprint it on the size of the hair. Imprint it on the eyes, and you can see the suffering sentient beings in the past, future, and the five realms (hell, hungry ghosts, animals, humans, and devas) clearly. Imprint it on the heart, and you will know the exact time of birth and death in the world. Imprint it on the ears, and you can hear the sounds of all living beings. Imprint it on the chest, hands, feet, and back, and people will be happy to see you. Wear it on the head and recite the mantra.

When you want to take the mud, say to the spring: 'I need this mud to use as I please.' Use the mud on Yin or Mao days. In times of drought, take this mud and stamp it with the seal. Take a piece of mud the size of a small bean, and under the door of a human dwelling, knead it into the shape of a tongue for a clay dragon, and place it in all places where there are dragons. Stop drawing the mud seal after it is stamped. Facing the place where there is a spring, the person stands facing east, closes their eyes, and recites: 'Dragon Son Heaven (son of the dragon), there is a great drought now, today is Yin or Mao day, I only ask for heavy rain.' Then it will rain heavily. If you want the rain to stop, take the mud tongue out of the clay dragon's mouth, return to your dwelling, and say 'Stop' facing it, and the rain will stop.

Another method: Apply cinnabar to the seal, and stamp it on a person with your left hand, and the person will be happy; stamp it on a person with your right hand, and the person will be angry upon seeing it.

Another method: On the fifth day of the fifth month, before the sun rises, take a peach branch that grows eastward, five inches long, and always maintain abstinence. In a quiet mountain in a clean room, sit facing east, hold your breath, and carve a human figure. Place a five-inch high seat in the room, shaped like an altar, with steps on all four sides. The altar is one foot wide, and place a wooden figure on it. The practitioner enters the room wearing new and clean clothes, steps over the position of the Big Dipper to the wooden figure, and recites 'I pay homage to you, Wood Art Spirit King', bows three times, and then begins to practice. Eat vegetarian food as abstinence during the day, from morning to noon, walk clockwise, stepping over the position according to the previous method. From sunset to the whole night, walk counterclockwise. During the day and night, continuously recite in your heart. When someone comes, talk to the Wood Art Spirit King of the wooden figure. Practice like this every day for one hundred days, and do not get angry, or the magic will not succeed. After one hundred days, take down the Wood Art figure, wrap it in clean clothes, and carry it in your belt, and it will be auspicious, and you will immediately get help in the place where you use it.

If someone is dull-witted, has many afflictions, and finds it difficult to learn the Way, they can imprint the mudra on paper and consume it, one piece per day, for two years, and they will be able to fly, thus attaining the 'shentong' (supernatural power) of body. They can obtain the 'tā-xin-zhi-tong' (supernatural power of knowing others' minds). If a Daoist cultivates great practices, they can imprint the mudra on paper and consume it for three years, and they will manifest and attain the four 'shramana' fruits (Srotaāpanna, Sakridāgāmin, Anāgāmin, Arhat). Those who use this mudra must not eat beef or rapeseed, and do not go to places where they are produced. Using this mudra will greatly accelerate the cultivation of the Way. If someone cultivates the Buddha-way, do not speak of it lightly, and do not casually propagate it to unsuitable people. In the world, cherish it well, for this mudra is very efficacious.

Treatise says: If someone wants to cultivate these four mudra methods, be careful not to be angry. Non-anger is the most fundamental root of the Way. This mudra has great divine efficacy. This is just a brief explanation. If according to the original four mudra methods, most of them are difficult to propagate. To break this mudra, each user should have a thousand mudra heads, which are very difficult to make and very difficult to learn. Those who obtain this mudra in the world should cherish it well, whether it is placed in a box or a cabinet, it should be placed in a good place, for this mudra is very efficacious. The commentary says: The person who holds this divine talisman can cut off all evil karma and unclean things. Use this talisman to bless it. In a clean room, after a pure bath, take three inches of silk or paper, write this talisman on it, and wear it inside the collar. Everyone who sees this talisman will be very happy, so fond of it that it is beyond words, and will give food and beautiful things. If you want to quit drinking, write this talisman on paper, burn it to ashes, mix it with wine, and give it to those who are addicted to alcohol. The effect is very good. This person will be able to cut off all alcohol, meat, and the five pungent spices, and become very filial, beyond words. Also, take [items] from a person who died on the battlefield, use this talisman, and hold it in your mouth. If an evil person comes to bully you, spit on him, and that evil person will immediately get epilepsy, his tongue will shrink into his stomach, and he will not be able to speak. Also, take seven pieces of soil from the grave of a child who has not yet spoken. If there is an evil person or a neighbor, draw this talisman on paper with ink, wrap the soil with the talisman, make a cloth bag to hold it, and tie it under the tail of the mortar. Mantra: Po di zha, Na li zha, Li po ye, Suo po he Commentary: The holder of this divine talisman is the master of cutting off all evil karma and uncleanliness. Use the talisman to hold it. Cleanse yourself in a clean room. Take three inches of plain silk paper. Write it on the collar of your clothes. All who see it will be greatly pleased and indescribably loved, giving food and good things. If you want wine, write this talisman on paper, burn it and mix it with wine. Give it to those who drink heavily. It will be very good. This person will cut off all wine, meat, and the five pungent spices. Great filial piety is indescribable. Also, take the dead soldier's [item]. Hold this talisman in your mouth. If an evil person comes to bully you, spit on him once. That evil person will immediately develop epilepsy. The root of his tongue will enter his abdomen and he will not be able to speak. Also, take seven pieces of soil from the grave of a child who has not yet spoken. If there is an evil person or a neighbor, write this talisman on paper with ink. Wrap the talisman with soil. Make a silk bag to hold it. Tie it under the tail of the mortar. Those who come to pound will pound at will. Also write the name of the evil person. In less than three days, that person will suffer and lie in bed unable to get up and will not be relieved. This talisman is very effective. If a county official or a sudden quarrel arises, write this talisman and write the name of that person and bite it. The official matter will be resolved immediately. Also, take cinnabar powder and mix it with wine to write this talisman. Also write the names of the evil people. Whether ten or a hundred people bully you, take it and put it under your feet. Those evil people will immediately be unable to speak.


鼻中痛。唇青面白如血色。唇口反張。餘人見者。惡口罵之。一切口舌但以厭之無不解。枷枝終不至身。人見者愛敬大重。諸王天子見之。亦大歡喜。持此符人莫食酒肉五辛蕓薹。勿妄傳也。

論曰。若世人得此論者。當著好凈處。家有此文。即有千萬巧神來護之。若人當作諸工巧一切事物。好凈治一室。一心誦咒作之。即成就無疑。此咒大驗。勿妄說也。若有急事。直以念得力。作此法。勿往產生之處。清凈用之。欲讀之。取清凈澡口。然後讀之。此咒大神不可言。此皆略說其要。持此咒者。一賢人識之者。不見則思。人見之者。心生敬念。若人得之者好藏。勿妄傳非其人。若有廣博之士以求人者。心意信敬。乃可相與。若有人心意不信者。慎勿與說。好藏之。大驗不可言。家有此咒。一得無患。口舌消除。有此論者。或在山阻間廣野之處。即有神祇衛護。不令見惡。但好心清凈。而用無不得力者。持此符法者。永不得食酒肉五辛蕓薹。一切穢惡不得食之。若函若匱以諸凈處著。此文求之必皆得力。勿妄傳之。大驗也。

五明論決

勿傳視人。流傳於世。龍樹菩薩。馬鳴菩薩。作五明論。出萬餘卷 凡人修此法者。皆取地員嚴麗。精室屋方側勿令破壞。表裡香湯涂綠色塗飾。凈治道場。懸寶蓋彩

《五明論決》

All verbal disputes can be resolved by using this method of aversion. Shackles and instruments of torture will ultimately not be applied. People who see this person will have great love and respect. Even kings and princes will be very pleased. Those who hold this talisman should not eat wine, meat, the five pungent spices (garlic, onions, asafoetida, leeks, and scallions), or rape. Do not transmit it recklessly.

Discussion: If people in the world obtain this treatise, they should place it in a clean place. If there is this text in the home, then tens of millions of skillful spirits will come to protect it. If someone wants to make various crafts or engage in other activities, they should first clean a room, recite the mantra with one mind, and then begin making it, and they will surely succeed. This mantra is very effective, do not reveal it recklessly. If there is an emergency, directly reciting the mantra will generate power. When making this method, do not go to unclean places such as maternity rooms, maintain purity. If you want to recite this mantra, first rinse your mouth clean. The power of this mantra is inconceivable. The above is just a brief explanation of the key points. Those who hold this mantra will be appreciated by virtuous people, and if they cannot see them, they will miss them. People who see this person will have respect in their hearts. If someone's heart is not sincere, do not tell them, keep it well. This mantra is very effective, beyond words. If there is this mantra in the home, one can avoid all worries and eliminate verbal disputes. Those who possess this treatise, even if they are in mountain obstacles or vast wilderness, will have deities protecting them, and will not encounter disasters. As long as you have good intentions and maintain purity, using this mantra will be effective. Those who hold this talisman should never eat wine, meat, the five pungent spices (garlic, onions, asafoetida, leeks, and scallions), or rape, and all unclean things should not be eaten. Whether it is placed in a box or a cabinet, it should be placed in a clean place. If you pray according to the methods in this text, you will surely obtain power. Do not transmit it recklessly, this method is very effective.

《The Decision of the Five Vidyas》

Do not easily show it to others, it should be circulated in the world. Nagarjuna (Longshu Pusa), Asvaghosa (Maming Pusa), created 《The Five Vidyas》, totaling more than ten thousand volumes. All those who practice this method must choose a flat and wide, ornately decorated land, build a pure dwelling, the house should be square and not damaged. Inside and out should be coated with fragrant soup, decorated with green. Cleanly arrange the altar, hang jeweled canopies and colorful banners.

Statues of Nāgārjuna (龍樹菩薩, Buddhist philosopher), Aśvaghoṣa (馬鳴菩薩, Buddhist poet), Vajrapāṇi (金剛密跡, Diamond Hand, a wrathful deity), and the Eight Powerful Divine Kings (八力神王) should be erected. Decorate the statues with five-colored banners and canopies, and according to your wishes, place seven incense burners in front of the Bodhisattva statues. Place two incense burners in front of each of the two Bodhisattva statues, two incense burners in front of each of the two Vajrapāṇi statues, two incense burners in front of the statues of the Eight Classes of Gods, and one incense burner for the practitioner himself. After reporting, use this mantra to bless the sick person, and if the illness is severe, bless them for twenty-one days. Use five-colored silk threads, and if the illness is severe, tie seven knots below and seven knots above, and tie them around the neck. Seal it with the Vajra Fist Mudrā (金剛拳印) for twenty-one days, and then use the Vajra Mudrā (金剛印) to seal the affected area. Do not engage in sexual misconduct. Do not lie. Do not eat rapeseed. Do not steal. Do not be unfilial. Do not sleep with unrelated people. Single-mindedly observe a vegetarian diet, without undressing. Sincerely and constantly prostrate, make offerings, recite mantras, and remember Nāgārjuna (founder of the Madhyamaka school of Mahayana Buddhism). Constantly remember him in your heart. If you want to cure illness, observe a vegetarian diet for seven days in advance. Personally bring incense to the Bodhisattva's image, and sincerely take refuge in prostration. Pray and prostrate to Nāgārjuna, and the illness will naturally be cured. In the Bodhimaṇḍa (place of enlightenment), take a set of clean clothes, a hand towel, a bathing vessel, a mantra bowl, filled with clean water, fourteen willow branches, a vajra (a ritual implement), five-colored threads each six feet long, an incense burner and seat, a jeweled canopy made of incense, a golden brocade bag, a cinnabar inkstone, a cinnabar brush, one tael of cinnabar, and one hundred sheets of fine paper. Use them to invoke Nāgārjuna and Aśvaghoṣa (Buddhist philosopher). Then write the divine talisman of the Heavenly Emperor and give it to the patient, and then write the talismans of the Six Divine Kings on the painful area. Dip the willow branches in clean water and chant mantras, using the prohibition method of the Asuras (a type of deity). Tie the five-colored threads on the painful area. Seal it with the Vajra-hṛdaya-mudrā (diamond heart seal). Burn incense and pray again. If the pain is to be removed, a deity should come that night and treat it in a dream, and it will be completely healed by dawn. If you continuously observe a vegetarian diet for seven days, abstaining from alcohol, meat, the five pungent spices, rapeseed, cursing, lying, sexual misconduct, stealing, and killing. If you violate these prohibitions, the illness will not last more than seven days, and you will be healed as you wish, without a doubt, it is very effective. <<

論曰。於一凈室。于凈臼中。各別搗下蒒和以蜜。器中勿令見風日。于先斷酒肉五辛及雜味蕓薹。齋戒沐浴以香湯。著鮮潔衣裳。以水澡口匕返。正坐誦咒。咒香七返。以井華水服方寸七日三服。一咒七返服。三七日不出道場內齋戒服。滿百日咨性自在。眾神奉持。目見諸佛行即鮮香。二七日行十步聞香。四七日百步聞香。七七日目有見聞聲芬香。眾人敬愛。鬼神營助。任性所

【現代漢語翻譯】 現代漢語譯本   天帝神符。用硃砂書寫,務必認真審視后書寫。治療人的各種疾病,吞服此符。想要破解此符,需知南斗六星掌管六律,其力量上達人體,主宰六符。不要詢問太多,只需輕輕焚香,保持清凈修行,效果會更加顯著。   太上六神王符。治療各種疾病的符。焚香保持清凈后書寫此符。如果有人患病,將此符書寫在患處,疾病就會立即消散離開身體。認真審視后書寫,會有很大的神效。   服香方法   論述:凡是修行誦咒,以及從事精巧的聲樂、雕刻,或需要聰敏的聽覺,都可以通過服用香藥來輔助。咒語如下:   菩陁㝹婆多羅,烏摩種陀利,勒那勒那耽捍利,阿婆阿婆鳴嘶利,莎婆呵   白真[弓*(乞-乙+冉)]香一斤,沉水香一斤,熏六香一斤,青木香一斤,雞舌香一斤,霍香一斤,零凌香一斤,甘松香一斤,穹窮香一斤,香附子一斤,百花香一斤(隨時採摘陰乾),何梨勒一斤。   論述:在一個乾淨的房間里,用乾淨的石臼,分別將各種香搗碎,然後混合在一起,加入蜂蜜。裝在器皿中時,不要讓其暴露在風和陽光下。事先要斷絕酒肉、五辛(指蒜、蔥、興渠、韭菜、薤)以及雜味蕓薹。齋戒沐浴,用香湯洗身,穿上乾淨的衣裳。用水漱口后,端正坐好,誦咒。對著香誦咒七遍。用井華水(清晨第一次從井中打出的水)服用,每次服用方寸大小的量,七天內服用三次。每次服用時誦咒七遍。二十一天內不出道場,齋戒服用。滿一百天後,就能隨心所欲,眾神都會奉持你。眼睛能看到諸佛,行動時會散發香氣。十四天後,走十步就能聞到香氣。二十八天後,走一百步就能聞到香氣。四十九天後,眼睛能看到,耳朵能聽到,身上散發芬芳。眾人敬愛,鬼神幫助。可以隨心所欲。

【English Translation】 English version   Celestial Emperor Divine Talisman. Write it with cinnabar, and be sure to examine it carefully before writing. It cures all kinds of human diseases; swallow this talisman. If you want to break this talisman, you must know that the six stars of the Southern Dipper govern the six laws, and their power reaches the human body, dominating the six talismans. Do not ask too much, just lightly burn incense, maintain purity in practice, and the effect will be more significant.   Supreme Six Divine Kings Talisman. A talisman for curing all kinds of diseases. Burn incense and maintain purity before writing this talisman. If someone is sick, write this talisman on the affected area, and the disease will immediately dissipate and leave the body. Examine it carefully before writing, and it will have great divine efficacy.   Method of Taking Incense   Discussion: All those who practice chanting mantras, as well as those engaged in exquisite music, carving, or who need keen hearing, can use the intake of fragrant medicines as an aid. The mantra is as follows:   Bodhi 㝹 Po Duo Luo, Wu Mo Zhong Tuo Li, Le Na Le Na Tan Han Li, A Po A Po Ming Si Li, Suo Po He   One jin of White True [弓*(乞-乙+冉)] Incense, one jin of Agarwood, one jin of Smoked Six Incense, one jin of Green Wood Incense, one jin of Clove Incense, one jin of Patchouli, one jin of Nard Incense, one jin of Sweet Pine Incense, one jin of Ligusticum wallichii Incense, one jin of Cyperus rotundus, one jin of Hundred Flower Incense (pick and dry in the shade at any time), one jin of Terminalia chebula.   Discussion: In a clean room, use a clean stone mortar to separately crush each incense, then mix them together and add honey. When storing it in a container, do not expose it to wind and sunlight. Abstain from alcohol, meat, the five pungent spices (garlic, onion, asafoetida, leek, scallion), and mixed-flavored rapeseed beforehand. Observe a vegetarian diet, bathe, wash the body with fragrant water, and put on clean clothes. Rinse your mouth with water, sit upright, and chant the mantra. Chant the mantra seven times towards the incense. Take a dose the size of a square inch with well water (the first water drawn from the well in the morning), three times within seven days. Chant the mantra seven times each time you take it. Do not leave the practice site within twenty-one days, observe a vegetarian diet and take the incense. After one hundred days, you will be able to do as you please, and all the gods will serve you. Your eyes will be able to see all the Buddhas, and your actions will emit fragrance. After fourteen days, you will be able to smell the fragrance ten steps away. After twenty-eight days, you will be able to smell the fragrance one hundred steps away. After forty-nine days, your eyes will be able to see, your ears will be able to hear, and your body will emit fragrance. Everyone will respect and love you, and ghosts and gods will help you. You can do as you please.


須于靜處燒香。眾神自至。服滿千日。怙物即香。逆知十二屬肉氣及以魚鱉。逆知彼氣是真及以世間所有氣者。盡能決之。以土墳以口三噓燒其土。其土香甚切利。所有污穢之地及自死之處。以水遜之。其地皆香。諸人死未經七日者。以水遜之其尸乃至離散。常有香氣切利。凡所有食井水取所服香之。以蜜和丸如彈。凈澡口咒之百返。內井水中。其水皆香美食者令人能香。若有惡人被妖邪所著。以此香如彈丸咒之百返結安。病人咽前。其鬼邪散。若有虛亭野室多有惡鬼數害人者。以此香和蜜如彈丸。以火燒之。其室中所有諸惡皆悉消滅之。

論曰。諸服香者。咒之根元。便鬼神之本。修行者慎見死屍。及產乳六畜產生乳血光。及婦女小兒。及雞犬之聲。常凈身澡口。見污穢之時。必須咒解穢之。咒水三返。以洗面目。然後入室。不爾者法不成。及被殃害。體面生瘡。諸行房室。不得誦咒。及入凈室。非其人勿言傳之。傷人慎勿流傳於世。

咃[敲-高+口]吒吒羅 咃[敲-高+口]盧樓離 摩訶盧樓離 阿羅摩羅 哆羅沙呵

若人睡。以此咒咒水千返。用洗眼洗面。即念之。

【English Translation】 English version: One should burn incense in a quiet place. The gods will naturally arrive. After taking it for a thousand days, what one relies on is the incense itself. One can foresee the scent of the flesh of the twelve zodiac animals, as well as the scent of fish and turtles. One can foresee which of those scents are genuine, and one can discern all the scents in the world. Cover the grave with soil, blow on the soil three times with the mouth, and burn the soil. The fragrance of the soil will be very intense. All defiled places and places of suicide, sprinkle with water, and those places will become fragrant and pure. For those who have died for less than seven days, sprinkle with water, and their corpses will even disintegrate, and they will often have an intense fragrance. For all food, take well water, mix it with the incense you take, mix it with honey into the size of a pellet, purify the body, rinse the mouth, chant the mantra a hundred times, and put it into the well water. The water will become fragrant and delicious, and those who eat it will also become fragrant. If someone is possessed by evil spirits, make this incense into the size of a pellet, chant the mantra a hundred times, form a mudra, and place it in front of the patient's throat, and the evil spirits will disperse. If there are empty pavilions and wild rooms where many evil ghosts often harm people, mix this incense with honey into the size of a pellet, and burn it with fire. All the evils in the room will be eliminated.

The treatise says that those who take various incenses should understand the root of the mantra, which is the origin of ghosts and gods. Practitioners should be cautious and not see corpses, as well as the blood of childbirth, the birth of livestock, and the sounds of women, children, chickens, and dogs. One should always keep the body clean and rinse the mouth. When seeing defilement, one must chant the mantra to dispel the defilement. Chant the mantra over water three times, use it to wash the face, and then enter the room. Otherwise, the practice will not succeed, and one will suffer disasters, and sores will grow on the body and face. When engaging in sexual activity, one must not chant the mantra, nor enter a clean room. Do not tell this to inappropriate people, harming people, and do not spread it in the world.

Mantra: Tā [敲-高+口] zhà zhà luó, Tā [敲-高+口] lú lóu lí, Mó hē lú lóu lí, Ā luó mó luó, Duō luó shā hē.
