如是我聞。一時佛在佉羅提耶山牟尼仙所住之處。與大比丘眾俱無量無數聲聞大眾。菩薩摩訶薩無量無邊不可稱計。說月藏訖。爾時南方有大香雲雨。大香雨。大華雲雨。大華雨。無量瓔珞雲雨。種種瓔珞雨。大衣雲雨。大衣雨。于佉羅提耶山牟尼仙所住之處。是諸大雨皆悉遍滿。大陰雲雨而香華衣服瓔珞亦說種種無量法音。如是次第乃至廣說。三歸聲。持戒聲。忍辱聲。精進聲。禪定聲。具足智慧降伏四魔聲。名稱普聞遍滿三界聲。念定總持聲。空無相無愿聲。離欲聲。色如聚沫聲。受如水泡聲。想如熱炎聲。行如芭蕉聲。識如幻聲。無常苦空無我之聲。慚愧聲。念處聲。慈悲喜捨聲。證諸法聲。涅槃無窟宅聲。三乘聲。轉法輪聲。成就眾生聲。度三惡道聲。六波羅蜜聲。善巧方便乃至具足十地聲。遊戲神通聲。遊戲無上大乘聲。阿鞞跋致聲。無生法忍聲。入佛海聲。諸來眾悉見種種雨。亦聞無量諸法音聲。隨意衣服嚴飾之聲。又復皆悉見其兩手有如意珠雨如意寶。其如意寶各出光明。如是光中皆見十方恒沙世界一切諸佛。是諸佛所各有菩薩而自圍繞。其光明中盡見十方諸佛

【English Translation】 English version The Buddha Speaks the Dharani Sutra of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva
Thus have I heard. At one time, the Buddha was dwelling at Kharadiya Mountain, the place where the Muni sage resided. He was with a great assembly of Bhikshus, countless and innumerable Shravakas, and immeasurable and boundless Bodhisattva Mahasattvas. After finishing the 'Moon Treasury Sutra,' at that time, great fragrant clouds rained from the south, great fragrant rain, great flower clouds rained, great flower rain, immeasurable garland clouds rained, various garland rains, great robe clouds rained, great robe rain. At Kharadiya Mountain, the place where the Muni sage resided, all these great rains completely filled the area. Great dark clouds rained, and at the same time, incense, flowers, clothing, and garlands also proclaimed various immeasurable Dharma sounds. In this order, and so on, there were the sounds of the Three Refuges, the sound of upholding precepts, the sound of patience, the sound of diligence, the sound of meditation, the sound of possessing wisdom and subduing the four maras, the sound of fame universally heard and pervading the three realms, the sound of mindfulness, concentration, and total retention (dharani), the sound of emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness, the sound of detachment from desire, the sound of form being like foam, the sound of sensation being like a water bubble, the sound of perception being like shimmering heat, the sound of formations being like a banana tree, the sound of consciousness being like illusion, the sound of impermanence, suffering, emptiness, and no-self, the sound of shame and remorse, the sound of the four foundations of mindfulness, the sound of loving-kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity, the sound of realizing all dharmas, the sound of Nirvana having no dwelling, the sound of the Three Vehicles, the sound of turning the Dharma wheel, the sound of accomplishing sentient beings, the sound of delivering from the three evil paths, the sound of the six paramitas, the sound of skillful means, and even the sound of fully possessing the ten bhumis, the sound of sporting with supernatural powers, the sound of sporting with the unsurpassed Great Vehicle, the sound of avaivartika (non-retrogression), the sound of the forbearance of the unproduced dharmas, the sound of entering the ocean of Buddhas. All those who came saw the various rains and also heard the immeasurable sounds of the Dharma, the sound of obtaining clothing and adornments at will. Moreover, they all saw that their two hands had wish-fulfilling jewels, raining down wish-fulfilling treasures. These wish-fulfilling treasures each emitted light. In these lights, they all saw all the Buddhas of the ten directions in countless worlds like the sands of the Ganges River. At the places of these Buddhas, there were Bodhisattvas surrounding them. In the light, they completely saw the Buddhas of the ten directions.
世界。若有病者。蒙光觸身眾病除愈。一切繫縛及應死者。光觸身故皆得解脫。若身行惡口行惡意行惡。光觸身時悉除三惡。若諸飢渴眾生蒙光觸身亦皆飽滿。種種擿罰身受苦切。乏少衣服嚴飾瓔珞種種之物。蒙光觸身隨所憶念悉得滿足。若有殺生偷盜邪淫妄言綺語兩舌惡口罵詈蒙光觸身。如是等惡皆悉得除。諸眾生有求不得苦。蒙光觸身皆悉受樂。光明清凈悉無翳障。風雲塵霧及諸穢苦惱辛酸。不善音聲乃至怖畏惡觸皆得除滅。遠離諸惡。一切邪偽諂曲亦皆無餘。一切惡欲悉得棄捨。諸妙勝樂一切皆集。爾時眾會皆悉堅固難動。不動如地。心無去來不可毀壞。如是大眾得未曾有。以何因緣我等身體今皆大重不能自勝。當於爾時有一帝釋。名曰凈有。于大眾中不遠而坐。於是凈有即從座起。而整衣服右膝著地。合掌向佛以偈問曰。

【English Translation】 English version World. If there are sick people, by the light touching their bodies, all kinds of diseases are cured. All those who are bound and those who should die, because the light touches their bodies, are liberated. If one's body commits evil deeds, one's mouth speaks evil words, and one's mind harbors evil thoughts, when the light touches the body, all three evils are eliminated. If various hungry and thirsty beings receive the touch of light on their bodies, they are all satisfied. Various beatings and punishments are inflicted on their bodies, causing suffering and torment. Lacking clothes, solemn ornaments, necklaces, and various items, when the light touches their bodies, whatever they remember in their minds is fulfilled. If someone commits killing, stealing, sexual misconduct, false speech, embellished speech, divisive speech, harsh speech, or curses, when the light touches their bodies, such evils are all eliminated. If sentient beings have the suffering of not getting what they seek, when the light touches their bodies, they all experience happiness. The light is pure and clear, without any shadows or obstacles. Wind, clouds, dust, fog, and various defilements, sufferings, annoyances, bitterness, unpleasant sounds, and even terrifying and fearful evil touches are all eliminated and extinguished, and one is far from all evils. All falsehood, deception, flattery, and treachery are also completely gone. All evil desires are abandoned, and all wonderful and supreme joys are gathered together. At this time, all those present are firm and immovable, as immovable as the earth. Their minds have no coming or going, and cannot be destroyed. Such a great assembly has gained an unprecedented experience. For what reason are our bodies now so heavy that we cannot control ourselves? At that time, there was an Indra (Indra, King of Gods) named Shuddha-bhava (Shuddha-bhava, Pure Existence), sitting not far from the Buddha in the assembly. Then Shuddha-bhava immediately rose from his seat, adjusted his clothes, knelt on his right knee, joined his palms, and asked the Buddha in verse: 『The one who speaks truthfully and sees the true form, the Muni (Muni, Sage) who dwells in truth, has long dwelt in the practice of the Dharma. May you expound the Dharma. The Buddha is the true cause and condition, able to eliminate the suffering of sentient beings. Why is it that here, various rains of nectar are falling? The assembly is joyful, and faith and happiness arise in their hearts. Please reveal all doubts and let us abide in the Great Vehicle. The body is difficult to move, like the earth, and all humans and gods see such a sight. The assembly all has doubts. Each hand emits the light of a Mani jewel (Mani jewel, wish-fulfilling jewel), all clothes, garlands, and various ornaments for adorning the body. 【English Translation】 English version The Deva asked: 'Nothing can describe the cause and condition of this. Whose supernatural power is it that has brought you here? For the sake of the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Brahma (Brahmā, the creator god), and Indra (Indra, king of the gods), we beseech the savior of the world to speak of the cause and condition of this supernatural power.' At that time, the World-Honored One said to Pure Existence Indra: 'So it is, so it is. Now listen carefully, and I will explain it to you. It is Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Mahasattva (Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Mahasattva, the great Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha) who, for countless asamkhya kalpas (asamkhya kalpas, countless eons), has come here to accomplish sentient beings in this world of five turbidities. He has come together with eighty pimbas nayutas hundreds of thousands of billions of great Bodhisattvas, all to pay homage, make offerings, and show reverence, desiring to see the assembly, desiring to hear the assembly rejoice. This Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva has manifested as a śrāmaṇa (śrāmaṇa, wandering ascetic), displaying the transformations of supernatural power. There are such grand and magnificent events, which are also the inconceivable and immeasurable merits of the Tathāgata (Tathāgata, the thus-gone one). He is also known as the hidden treasure of the Dharma of the śrāvakas (śrāvaka, one who hears the teachings), Pratyekabuddhas (Pratyekabuddha, solitary Buddha), also known as the great treasure store of the wisdom of liberation, also known as the Bodhisattva's Dharma of saving the world, also known as the merchant chief who guides to nirvāṇa (nirvāṇa, cessation), like a wish-fulfilling jewel that satisfies all desires, also like a treasure store for all merchants, also like the earth that can produce good roots, also a divine tool for seeking the Dharma of nirvāṇa, also a pure vase of merit, also a place where the sun and moon illuminate, also a great torch in the darkness and gloom, like the moon's coolness relieving the heat of afflictions, like a footless person obtaining a wish-fulfilling vehicle, like a confused person obtaining the taste of nectar, like a weak and old person encountering a walking stick. He is the root of the great field of blessings, with a mind free from stagnation, like a flowing stream saving from suffering, like rising relatives removing the cloud cover of the flames of defilements, like a clear water pearl removing impurities, if on a dangerous and winding road, he shows the right path, he is a peaceful forest seat for the extremely weary, he is a bridge over the four swift currents of samsara, also a supreme great ship for crossing to the other shore, he is the excellent reward of the three good roots (non-greed, non-hatred, non-delusion), he is the supreme great vehicle for all givers, upholding the precepts unmoving like Mount Sumeru (Sumeru, the central world-mountain), diligent and indestructible like a vajra (vajra, diamond), patient and enduring also like the earth, upholding the Dharma with a mind without the three aspects (subject, object, and middle), meditation adorned like a beautiful garland, wisdom profound and vast like the ocean, a mind without reliance like empty space, skillful in means without attachment.'
如眾華聚。處於外道如師子王。遠離煩惱如犀一角。滅諸結使如洗塵垢。能除臭穢如疾飄風。將護有疾如彼良醫。消除眾病如妙藥王。斷除煩惱如持利劍。為怖畏者作大親友。防諸怨敵如堅城塹。能除其濁如清凈水。濟諸饑乏猶如茸果。亦是裸者最勝衣服。與盛熱者為密雲蓋。具足如是善根果報。清凈第一堅固不壞。妙色處能生受樂。于大會處而生慚愧。除諸結使。禪定行處乘四正勤。四攝決流忍辱大地亦如須彌。總持深廣如彼大海。神足無礙自在如虛空。降伏諸魔一切結習。修行正道無量禪定。亦為一切種種智之洲渚。能轉無上清凈法輪。地藏菩薩摩訶薩為欲來故先現此瑞。亦為供養恭敬我故來至於此。佛復讚歎地藏菩薩言。汝從南方來。八十頻婆百千那由他菩薩以神通力俱來至此。悉作聲聞像在如來前。頂禮佛足右繞三匝。即為合掌而說偈言。

【English Translation】 English version: Like a gathering of many flowers. Being among non-Buddhists is like a lion king. Being far from afflictions is like a rhinoceros's single horn. Eradicating all fetters is like washing away dust. Being able to remove foulness is like a swift wind. Caring for the sick is like a good doctor. Eliminating all diseases is like a king of wondrous medicine. Cutting off afflictions is like wielding a sharp sword. Being a great friend to those who are fearful. Defending against enemies is like a strong fortress. Being able to remove turbidity is like pure water. Aiding the hungry is like ripe fruit. Also, being the most excellent clothing for the naked. Providing a dense cloud cover for those suffering from heat. Possessing such complete roots of goodness and their rewards, being the purest, most steadfast, and indestructible. A wondrous place capable of generating joyful experiences. Able to generate shame in great assemblies. Removing all fetters. In places of meditative practice, practicing the Four Right Exertions. The Four Means of Attraction flow like a bursting dam, patience is as vast as the earth, and also like Mount Sumeru (Sumeru, the central world-mountain in Buddhist cosmology). The Dharani (Dharani, a type of Buddhist mantra or spell) is as deep and vast as the ocean. Spiritual powers are unobstructed and free, like the empty sky. Possessing the most complete marks and characteristics, able to adorn all realms, able to fulfill all fields of merit, constantly cultivating truthful speech and great compassion, able to completely cut off all nets of sensation, all able to abide well in reality. Abandoning other pure Buddha lands, in which beings possess good roots, the original vow is to liberate beings in the turbid and evil world, accomplishing all beings. 【English Translation】 English version In the ten directions of the world, cultivating fields of merit, your fame spreads far and wide to all places. Therefore, all Bodhisattvas are able to relinquish their own affairs, Relying on their spiritual powers, they gather here, together going to the World Honored Great Sage, the Buddha (Tathagata, Great Sage, the Buddha). May the Tathagata (Tathagata) especially expound and explain the Dharma, so that those who hear it will rejoice. After hearing the Dharma, diligently advance, and constantly cultivate the path of Bodhi (Bodhi). All are like great generals in the ocean, and should be able to quickly approach Bodhi. In order to gather those who have not heard or seen, therefore you all come to assemble. There are thirteen billion Yakshas (Yakshas), who in the past harmed beings, feeding on flesh and blood. Quickly abandoning all evil deeds, they come here, abiding in the most supreme and unsurpassed path of Bodhi. Some have obtained the Kshanti Dharani (Kshanti Dharani), some have obtained the most wonderful various Dhyanas (Dhyana). Some have already attained the state of exhaustion of all outflows, being the most honored among Arhats (Arhat). Some are able to well cultivate the Four Immeasurables (Four Immeasurables), some are able to abide in the Four Embracing Dharmas (Four Embracing Dharmas). Some have obtained the most supreme Four Kinds of Eloquence (Four Kinds of Eloquence), and some cultivate various practices of forbearance. Some have obtained the Anutpattika-dharma-kshanti (Anutpattika-dharma-kshanti), all of these are because of the Dharma spoken by the World Honored One. Able to subdue all heretics, including the ninety-six kinds of external paths. After subduing all demonic enemies, all are great generals who save the world. Able to open and close the paths of hell, hungry ghosts, and animals, benefiting all gods and asuras. Therefore, true beings all come to gather, relying on the Buddha's divine power. Famine, disease, and the calamities of war are all extinguished today. If someone is blind and loses the right path, these Bodhisattvas can liberate them. For those who are disturbed by immeasurable afflictions, all can be placed on the path of tranquility. Enabling the masses to relinquish their own karma, they come here to pay homage to the Tathagata. Immeasurable worlds and billions of Buddha lands are all places where saviors reside. Fame spreads in the ten directions, praising immeasurable merits, we have come here after hearing of it. In order to hear the ocean of merits of all-knowing wisdom, to hear such true aspects. 【English Translation】 English version Practicing Various Kinds of Giving I shall now learn to make great vows; I have come here to the Buddha's divine feet. I shall cultivate and learn in this turbid world, able to reach the supreme Bodhi.
At that time, Ksitigarbha (Earth Treasury) Bodhisattva Mahasattva scattered various kinds of heavenly flowers, fragrant flowers, and necklaces upon the Buddha. The scattered flowers transformed into jeweled canopies. At that time, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva sat before the Buddha, attentively listening to and receiving the sutra. All those assembled, seeing Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, conceived rare and wondrous thoughts, and scattered various kinds of fragrant flowers, necklaces, silken canopies, banners, and clothing upon Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, saying, 'We are truly fortunate to have gained such benefit. By the Buddha's divine power, we are able to see such great beings, and pay our respects and inquire after their well-being.'
At that time, there was also a Bodhisattva Mahasattva named Thirsting-for-Guidance, who arose from his seat, arranged his robes, knelt on his right knee, and, with palms joined, said to the Buddha, 'World Honored One, from which Buddha-land did this good man come to this place? What good roots has he cultivated to be able to offer such praise and speak of the Buddha's merits? From the past until now, I have never heard or seen such a thing.'
At that time, the World Honored One said to Thirsting-for-Guidance Bodhisattva, 'Stop, stop, great being! There is no need to ask further. Among all the assembly and the gods and humans, none but the Buddhas and Tathagatas can fully know the extent of this good man's merits. The Tathagata will surely reveal them today. It is only that the gods and humans are foolish and darkened, obscured by their own faults. This son of a noble family has achieved the Samadhi of Surangama (heroic advance), with inconceivable merits, entered the Tathagata's sphere of activity, and attained the forbearance of non-origination (understanding of the non-arising and non-ceasing nature of all dharmas). He has gained mastery over the Buddhas' teachings, and having entered deep forbearance, has crossed the ocean of all wisdom. This good man playfully manifests, and with the Samadhi of Lion's Light (lion-like light concentration), ascends the mountain of all wisdom, the summit of Mount Sumeru, subduing heretical teachings and accomplishing the salvation of sentient beings. In whatever Buddha-land he dwells, he enters the Samadhi of Wisdom in accordance with the Buddha-land. By the power of this Samadhi, he causes all beings in the land to see the Bodhisattvas. In accordance with the Buddha-lands, he enters the Samadhi of Wisdom and Joy, making offerings to the Buddhas in those lands. In accordance with the Buddha-lands, he enters the Samadhi of Pure Joy, and upon entering this Samadhi, he sees all the faults of all desires, and his mind is pure and undefiled. In accordance with the Buddha-lands, he enters the Samadhi of Shame and Remorse, thereby causing all beings in that land to attain shame and remorse.'

They follow various Buddha-lands into the Samadhi of Banner Observation (a type of meditation), and can also enable all beings in those Buddha-lands to detest and abandon all evil deeds, uphold the ten virtues, and ascend to the heavenly realms. Good man, Maitreya (future Buddha), Manjushri (Bodhisattva of wisdom), Avalokiteshvara (Bodhisattva of compassion), Samantabhadra (Bodhisattva of practice), and others are the leaders. If someone were to pay homage and make offerings to such great Bodhisattvas, as numerous as the sands of the Ganges, for a hundred kalpas (eons), seeking their wishes, it would not equal the merit of paying homage and making offerings to Kshitigarbha Bodhisattva for the duration of a single meal. The merit is far greater, and the wishes sought will be quickly fulfilled. Why? Because this Kshitigarbha Bodhisattva can greatly benefit all beings, like a wish-fulfilling jewel. This son of a good family, wishing to accomplish beings, can generate a firm and great treasury of compassion, fulfilling the wishes of all beings. Therefore, good men and good women, you should make offerings to Kshitigarbha Bodhisattva. At that time, the assembly, including Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas (great Bodhisattvas) and Shravakas (hearers) who came from the ten directions, all the Devas (gods), humans, Yakshas (guardian spirits), Gandharvas (celestial musicians), etc., rose from their seats...

【English Translation】 English version: Then, rising up, they offer according to their ability. Or with gold and silver, etc., to respectfully honor that Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva. Or with various precious flowers, clothing, mani jewels, as well as flower garlands, jeweled necklaces, golden thread banners and canopies, to scatter upon (offer to) Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva. Furthermore, with immeasurable music and various praises, they make offerings to Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva. At that time, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, with these offerings of Sugata, then spoke this verse:
'Worshipped by gods, humans, and dragons, Bodhisattvas from the ten directions gather, Hearing of the great merit of saving the world, May the Buddha receive my supreme offering.'
At that time, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, after speaking this verse, prostrated at the Buddha's feet. Thereupon, the Lord Buddha spoke another verse:
'Those who wish to cultivate firm and pure wisdom, Can extinguish all the afflictions of sentient beings, Bringing joy to beings like a precious hand, Able to sever bonds like a diamond, You arise with great compassion and diligence, With this offering to the most supreme one, Your heart is like the sea, saving all, Delivering all beings to the shore of liberation.'
At that time, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, after making obeisance, arose and said to the Buddha: 'Lord Buddha, I shall deliver and liberate these four continents. Increase the lifespan of bhiksus (monks), bhiksunis (nuns), upasakas (male lay devotees), and upasikas (female lay devotees). Protect and increase their lifespan, so that their bodies are free from illness. Increase their complexion and strength, increase their fame, increase their wealth and possessions, increase their friends, increase their family members, increase their faith and precepts, increase their learning, increase their generosity, increase their patience, increase their skillful means, increase their desire for learning and the Four Noble Truths. Increase people's understanding of all the paths of the Mahayana, increase the ability to illuminate the true nature of reality, increase the merit of accomplishing all sentient beings, increase the arising of great compassion, joy, and equanimity, increase all immeasurable pure dharmas, increase the wonderful reputation, spreading fame throughout the Triple Realm, increase the rain of dharma that nourishes the cycle of the Three Realms, increase the flavor of all things on earth, increase all the good karma of sentient beings, increase the dharma energy and countless meritorious deeds, increase wisdom, so that everything is illuminated, increase the path practiced by the Six Paramitas, increase the unobstructed penetration of the Five Eyes, increase empowerment, increase Nirvana, increase the majestic virtue, illuminating all unprecedented dharmas.'

In the past, in the presence of Buddhas as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River, I received and upheld such mantras, increasing the Dharma of pure white virtue, increasing all seeds, roots, stems, flowers, fruits, and all medicinal grains, increasing clouds, rain, earth, water, fire, and wind, increasing blessings and happiness, increasing wealth and possessions, increasing immeasurable supreme rewards, and increasing foundations. It increases all pure and virtuous dharmas, increases the roots, stems, branches, leaves, flowers, fruits, medicinal herbs, grains, rain, water, earth, fire, and wind of all good roots. It increases joy and happiness, increases wealth, increases excellence and wonder, and increases industries. The power of this mantra is skillful in binding and also skillful in liberating. The World Honored One speaks this Dharani mantra, which protects and supports all the Shravaka disciples in the four continents, including Bhikshus, Bhikshunis, Upasakas, and Upasikas, increasing their wealth and all their industries, increasing the Buddhadharma, enabling it to spread, and allowing the vast and boundless Three Realms to enjoy happiness.
At that time, the Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva extensively proclaimed such a Great Prediction Sutra. At that time, Mount Kharadiya shook in six ways. All musical sounds played without being struck. Precious flowers rained down. All the assembly were startled and fearful, giving rise to rare thoughts.
At that time, Ananda rose from his seat, bared his right shoulder, and with his palms together, said to the Buddha, 'World Honored One, what should this Dharma be called? How should it be received and upheld? How should it be practiced?' The Buddha told Ananda, 'This Sutra...'
名為地藏菩薩誓願度諸眾生。如是受持。複名大方廣。如是受持。亦名師子光三昧。亦名隨諸佛土入慚愧三昧。如是受持。亦名陀羅尼神咒。如是受持。修行法用汝今復聽。佛告阿難。若有眾生臨當形戮杻械枷鎖疾病困苦鬼魅所著者。一心敬禮地藏菩薩稱名。至心誦持此咒。懺悔根本重罪發菩提心。從今始以盡未來際。不殺不盜不淫不妄語不飲酒。不食肉不食五辛。受三聚戒。何等為三。攝善法戒。攝眾生戒。攝律儀戒。乃至菩提歸命三寶眾。不歸依九十六種外道邪法。佛復告阿難。若比丘比丘尼優婆塞優婆夷受持此咒。凈持房舍安建道場。懸繒幡蓋香泥塗地燒香散華。稱地藏菩薩至心敬禮。誦唸此咒。五逆十惡四重八禁。若不除滅無有是處。除不至心等方經偷僧祇物乃至一比丘物此經不攝。若有受持讀誦此經陀羅尼咒。有飛尸伏注鳥鳴百怪一切諸惡悉皆消滅。
爾時毗沙門天王頂禮佛足白佛言。世尊若有受持讀誦此經陀羅尼咒者。我當擁護蓋其勢力。若有眾生信邪倒見。或事北神九子母神阿魔神灶君社地社神詐稱先人。如是邪見。我使此人行住不安。惡夢縱橫。唯愿世尊聽我受持。佛告善哉善哉。汝大慈無量饒益眾生。我助汝喜。佛說經已。梵天帝釋四天王菩薩摩訶薩一切大集阿難等。聞佛所說歡喜奉行。
【現代漢語翻譯】 現代漢語譯本:名為地藏菩薩誓願度諸眾生。如此受持此經,又名大方廣。如此受持此經,也名師子光三昧(一種禪定境界)。也名隨諸佛土入慚愧三昧(在諸佛凈土中進入懺悔的禪定)。如此受持此經,也名陀羅尼神咒(具有神奇力量的咒語)。如此受持此經,修行方法你現在再聽好。佛告訴阿難(佛陀的弟子):若有眾生面臨刑罰殺戮、手銬腳鐐、枷鎖束縛、疾病困擾、痛苦折磨,或被鬼魅附身,應一心敬禮地藏菩薩,稱念地藏菩薩名號,至誠誦持此咒,懺悔根本重罪,發起菩提心(覺悟之心),從今開始直到未來,不殺生、不偷盜、不邪淫、不妄語、不飲酒,不吃肉、不吃五辛(五種辛辣蔬菜),受持三聚戒(三種戒律)。哪三種呢?攝善法戒(聚集善法的戒律)、攝眾生戒(利益眾生的戒律)、攝律儀戒(遵守戒律的戒律),乃至證得菩提之前,都歸命三寶(佛、法、僧),不歸依九十六種外道邪法。佛又告訴阿難:若有比丘(出家男眾)、比丘尼(出家女眾)、優婆塞(在家男眾)、優婆夷(在家女眾)受持此咒,清凈地保持房舍,安立道場,懸掛幡蓋,用香泥塗地,焚香散花,稱念地藏菩薩名號,至誠敬禮,誦唸此咒,即使犯下五逆罪(殺父、殺母、殺阿羅漢、破和合僧、出佛身血)、十惡業(殺生、偷盜、邪淫、妄語、兩舌、惡口、綺語、貪慾、嗔恚、邪見)、四重禁(比丘戒中的四條根本戒律)、八禁(八關齋戒),若不能消除罪業,絕無可能。但是,不至誠心、誹謗經典、偷盜僧眾財物,乃至偷盜一個比丘的財物,此經的功德無法涵蓋。若有人受持讀誦此經和陀羅尼咒,即使有飛尸鬼、伏屍鬼作祟,或出現鳥鳴怪異等各種邪惡現象,都將全部消滅。 這時,毗沙門天王(佛教護法神)頂禮佛足,對佛說:世尊,若有人受持讀誦此經和陀羅尼咒,我應當擁護他,覆蓋他的勢力。若有眾生相信邪見,或祭祀北神、九子母神、阿魔神、灶君、社地社神,假稱是已故的先人,像這樣的邪見,我會使這個人行住不安,惡夢連連。唯愿世尊允許我受持此經。佛說:好啊,好啊!你大慈大悲,無量地饒益眾生,我贊助你的歡喜。佛說完此經,梵天(色界天主)、帝釋(欲界天主)、四大天王(護世四天王)、菩薩摩訶薩(大菩薩)以及所有大眾,包括阿難等,聽聞佛所說,歡喜奉行。
【English Translation】 English version: It is named 'Earth Store Bodhisattva's Vow to Deliver All Sentient Beings'. Thus, uphold it. It is also named 'Great Extensive and Vast'. Thus, uphold it. It is also named 'Lion Light Samadhi' (a state of meditative concentration). It is also named 'Entering the Samadhi of Shame and Remorse in All Buddha Lands'. Thus, uphold it. It is also named 'Dharani Divine Mantra' (a mantra with miraculous power). Thus, uphold it. Now listen again to the methods of practice. The Buddha told Ananda (the Buddha's disciple): If there are sentient beings facing execution, handcuffs, shackles, imprisonment, illness, suffering, or possession by ghosts and demons, they should single-mindedly revere and pay homage to Earth Store Bodhisattva, recite his name, sincerely uphold this mantra, repent of their fundamental grave offenses, and generate the Bodhi mind (the mind of enlightenment). From this moment forward, until the end of the future, they should not kill, not steal, not engage in sexual misconduct, not lie, not drink alcohol, not eat meat, and not eat the five pungent vegetables. They should receive the Three Accumulative Precepts (three kinds of precepts). What are the three? The Precept of Accumulating Good Dharmas, the Precept of Benefiting Sentient Beings, and the Precept of Maintaining Discipline. Until they attain Bodhi, they should take refuge in the Triple Jewel (Buddha, Dharma, Sangha), and not take refuge in the ninety-six kinds of heretical and deviant paths. The Buddha further told Ananda: If there are Bhikshus (ordained monks), Bhikshunis (ordained nuns), Upasakas (lay male devotees), and Upasikas (lay female devotees) who uphold this mantra, keep their dwellings clean, establish a Dharma practice place, hang banners and canopies, spread fragrant mud on the ground, burn incense, scatter flowers, recite the name of Earth Store Bodhisattva, sincerely revere and pay homage, and recite this mantra, even if they have committed the Five Heinous Offenses (killing one's father, killing one's mother, killing an Arhat, disrupting the Sangha, shedding the blood of a Buddha), the Ten Evil Deeds (killing, stealing, sexual misconduct, lying, divisive speech, harsh speech, idle chatter, greed, hatred, wrong views), the Four Grave Prohibitions (the four fundamental precepts for monks), and the Eight Prohibitions (the Eight Precepts), if these offenses cannot be eradicated, there is no possibility. However, if one lacks sincerity, slanders the scriptures, steals the property of the Sangha, or even steals the property of a single Bhikshu, the merit of this scripture cannot cover it. If someone upholds, recites, and reads this scripture and Dharani mantra, even if there are flying corpse ghosts, lurking corpse ghosts, or strange bird calls and all kinds of evil phenomena, they will all be eliminated. At that time, Vaishravana (a guardian deity in Buddhism), prostrated at the Buddha's feet and said to the Buddha: 'World Honored One, if there are those who uphold, recite, and read this scripture and Dharani mantra, I shall protect them and cover them with my power. If there are sentient beings who believe in heretical views, or worship the Northern God, the Nine Children Mother Goddess, the Asura God, the Kitchen God, the Local Earth God, falsely claiming to be deceased ancestors, with such heretical views, I will cause these people to be restless in their movements and dwellings, and have nightmares. I beseech the World Honored One to allow me to uphold this scripture.' The Buddha said: 'Excellent, excellent! You are greatly compassionate and immeasurably benefit sentient beings. I rejoice in your joy.' After the Buddha finished speaking this scripture, Brahma (the lord of the Form Realm), Indra (the lord of the Desire Realm), the Four Heavenly Kings (the Four Guardian Kings), Bodhisattva Mahasattvas (great Bodhisattvas), and all the great assembly, including Ananda, heard what the Buddha had said and joyfully practiced it.
