佛說樂想經

西晉月支國三藏竺法護譯

聞如是:

一時,婆伽婆在舍衛城祇樹給孤獨園。彼時,世尊告諸比丘:「諸有沙門婆羅門,于地有地想,樂於地、計于地為我,彼言地是我;我說彼未知水、火、風。天神、梵天、阿婆天、阿鞞婆天,凈有凈想,樂於凈、計凈為我,彼言凈是我;我說未知虛空處、識處、無所有處、無想處。或一或若干,或別見聞知識得觀覺行,今世至後世,後世至今世,彼有此想樂,樂是計是我,彼盡計是我;我說彼未知。諸有沙門婆羅門,計地為神通,不樂於地,不樂於地不計地為我,彼不言地是我;我說彼已知水、火、風。天神、梵天、阿婆天、阿鞞婆天,以凈為神通,不樂凈,不樂凈,不以凈是我;我說彼已知虛空處、識處、無所有處、無想處。或一或若干,或別聞聞見識知得觀覺行,從今世至後世,從後世至今世,彼盡以神通示不樂亦不樂,亦不計我,亦不言是我;我說彼以知。複次,我以地為神通,不樂地,不樂地,不以地為我,我不計地,我以知水火風。神天、梵天、阿婆天、阿鞞婆天,彼神通不以為凈,不以為凈,不計凈為我,我以知此虛空處、識處、無所有處、無想處。或一或若干,或別見聞識知得觀覺行,從今世至後世,從後世至今世,盡已神通不樂,不樂,不計為我;我已知此。」佛如是說。彼諸比丘聞世尊所說,歡喜而樂,所因跋渠盡

English version: Thus have I heard: At one time, the Buddha was dwelling in the Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Park, in Shravasti. At that time, the World-Honored One addressed the monks: 'Some ascetics or Brahmins have the notion of earth as earth, are attached to earth, and consider earth to be 'I,' they say earth is me; I say they do not understand water, fire, wind. Gods, Brahma, Abhasvara gods, Abhibhu gods, have the notion of purity as purity, are attached to purity, and consider purity to be 'I,' they say purity is me; I say they do not understand the sphere of infinite space, the sphere of infinite consciousness, the sphere of nothingness, the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception. Whether one or several, or through different perceptions, knowledge, observation, and feelings, from this life to the next, from the next life to this life, they have this attachment, are attached to it and consider it to be 'I,' they all consider it to be 'I'; I say they do not understand. Some ascetics or Brahmins consider earth to be a supernormal power, are not attached to earth, are not attached to earth and do not consider earth to be 'I,' they do not say earth is 'I'; I say they understand water, fire, wind. Gods, Brahma, Abhasvara gods, Abhibhu gods, take purity as a supernormal power, are not attached to purity, are not attached to purity, and do not consider purity to be 'I'; I say they understand the sphere of infinite space, the sphere of infinite consciousness, the sphere of nothingness, the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception. Whether one or several, or through different perceptions, knowledge, observation, and feelings, from this life to the next, from the next life to this life, they all show through supernormal powers that they are not attached, nor are they attached, nor do they consider it to be 'I,' nor do they say it is 'I'; I say they understand. Furthermore, I take earth as a supernormal power, am not attached to earth, am not attached to earth, do not consider earth to be 'I,' I do not consider earth to be 'I,' I understand water, fire, wind. Gods, Brahma, Abhasvara gods, Abhibhu gods, their supernormal powers do not consider it to be purity, do not consider it to be purity, do not consider purity to be 'I,' I understand the sphere of infinite space, the sphere of infinite consciousness, the sphere of nothingness, the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception. Whether one or several, or through different perceptions, knowledge, observation, and feelings, from this life to the next, from the next life to this life, all show through supernormal powers that they are not attached, are not attached, do not consider it to be 'I'; I understand these.' Thus spoke the Buddha. Those monks, having heard what the World-Honored One had said, were joyful and delighted, and their doubts were all dispelled.
