佛說滿愿子經

聞如是:

一時,佛游摩鳩羅無種山中,與大比丘俱,比丘五百。爾時,賢者邠耨,晡時從宴坐起往詣佛所,偏袒右肩右膝著地,稽首足下叉手白佛:「善哉世尊!為我且講要法,我當奉行,令身長夜安隱無極。」佛言:「諦聽,善思念之。」邠耨應:「唯然,世尊!」

佛告邠耨:「目見好色可眼之物,所可愛樂貪慾之,耳貪好聲,鼻識好香,舌知美味,身著細滑更樂可意,愛于所欲慕于貪求。假使比丘欣樂然可心處其中,已貪住則樂迷惑,從是致患憂惱之戚。假使,邠耨比丘!目見色者,可眼之物不以歡樂,心不處中,惱患則除。耳鼻口身意亦復如是,是為粗舉要法。佛之教誨以誡敕汝,今欲所游。」邠耨白佛:「唯然世尊,有一國名首那和蘭(晉曰所聞欲勝),欲游彼國。」

佛言:「彼國兇惡志懷粗䵃,不能柔和喜斗亂人。假使彼國異心兇人罵詈毀辱,當云何乎?」

現代漢語譯本 如是我聞: 一時,佛陀在摩鳩羅無種山中游化,與五百位大比丘同行。當時,賢者邠耨在傍晚時分從禪坐中起身,前往佛陀所在之處,右袒右肩,右膝著地,向佛陀頂禮,合掌稟告說:『世尊,請您為我講說重要的佛法,我將遵照奉行,使身心長久安穩,沒有憂患。』佛陀說:『仔細聽,好好思考。』邠耨回答說:『是的,世尊!』 佛陀告訴邠耨:『眼睛看到美好的顏色,是眼睛所喜愛的,就會貪戀它;耳朵貪戀美好的聲音;鼻子貪戀美好的香氣;舌頭貪戀美味;身體接觸到細滑的觸感,就會更加快樂和滿意,愛戀所欲求的,追求貪婪。如果比丘喜歡並認可這些,心就安住其中,已經貪戀就會迷惑,由此導致憂愁和煩惱。如果,邠耨比丘!眼睛看到顏色,是眼睛所喜愛的,不因此而感到快樂,心不執著于其中,煩惱就會消除。耳朵、鼻子、口、身體和意念也是如此,這是簡要地舉出重要的佛法。佛陀的教誨是用來告誡你的,你現在想去哪裡游化?』邠耨稟告佛陀說:『是的,世尊,有一個國家名叫首那和蘭(晉代譯為所聞欲勝),我想去那個國家游化。』 佛陀說:『那個國家的人民兇惡,心懷粗暴,不能柔和,喜歡爭鬥和擾亂他人。如果那個國家的異心惡人辱罵和譭謗你,你該怎麼辦呢?』 『如果那個國家的異心惡人辱罵我,我應當這樣想:『愛我敬我的人尚且會原諒我,他們不會用手推我』

English version Thus have I heard: At one time, the Buddha was traveling in the mountains of Makula without seeds, accompanied by five hundred great Bhikkhus. At that time, the venerable Bhinno, in the evening, arose from his meditation and went to where the Buddha was. He bared his right shoulder, knelt on his right knee, bowed at the Buddha's feet, and with his palms together, said to the Buddha: 'Excellent, World Honored One! Please explain the essential Dharma for me, and I will follow it, so that my body and mind may be peaceful and without suffering for a long time.' The Buddha said: 'Listen carefully and contemplate well.' Bhinno replied: 'Yes, World Honored One!' The Buddha told Bhinno: 'When the eyes see beautiful colors, which are pleasing to the eyes, one becomes greedy for them; the ears crave pleasant sounds; the nose craves pleasant fragrances; the tongue craves delicious flavors; and the body, when it comes into contact with smooth and delicate textures, becomes even more joyful and satisfied, loving what is desired and pursuing greed. If a Bhikkhu likes and approves of these things, and his mind dwells in them, he will become confused by his greed, and this will lead to sorrow and affliction. If, Bhinno Bhikkhu! When the eyes see colors, which are pleasing to the eyes, one does not feel joy because of them, and the mind does not cling to them, then affliction will be eliminated. The same is true for the ears, nose, mouth, body, and mind. This is a brief explanation of the essential Dharma. The Buddha's teachings are to admonish you. Where do you wish to travel now?' Bhinno said to the Buddha: 'Yes, World Honored One, there is a country called Shuna-varana (translated in the Jin Dynasty as 'Desire for Victory'), and I wish to travel to that country.' The Buddha said: 'The people of that country are wicked, with rough and violent minds, unable to be gentle, and they like to fight and disturb others. If the wicked people of that country with different intentions were to scold and slander you, what would you do?' 'If the wicked people of that country with different intentions were to scold me, I should think: 'Those who love and respect me would still forgive me, they would not push me with their hands.'

佛言:「假使叉汝,當奈之何?」

邠耨白曰:「當心念言:『尚復愛我敬我賢善柔和,不以瓦石而打擲我。』」

佛言:「假使以瓦石打擲汝,當奈之何?」

邠耨白曰:「其國人善仁和溫雅,不以刀杖傷擊我身。」

佛言:「假使刀杖傷擊汝身,當奈之何?」

邠耨白曰:「我當念言:『其國人善柔和溫雅,不以利刀害我身命。』」

佛言:「假使利刀害汝身命,當奈之何?」

邠耨白曰:「我當心念言:『身有六情為之所患,厭身眾惱不凈流出,求刀為食志唯在味,入于寂然以刀為食。』」

佛言:「善哉邠耨!汝能堪任以是比像,調順寂然忍辱仁賢,處於彼國隨意所欲。」

於是,邠耨即從坐起,稽首佛足右繞三匝,自詣其室,即夜蓋藏床臥安眠,明晨著衣持缽往詣彼國。尋在其國,於一夏中教化勸立,請清信士凡五百人,清信女五百人,興于寺舍五百,窟室床㯓五百,及法坐具被枕各各五百。化五百人皆為沙門,在於其歲證三達尋滅度

佛陀說:『假如有人辱罵你,你該怎麼辦?』 邠耨回答說:『我應當心裡想:』他們還算愛我、尊敬我、認為我賢良、柔和,沒有用瓦片石頭來打我。』 佛陀說:『假如他們用瓦片石頭打你,你該怎麼辦?』 邠耨回答說:『那個國家的人善良、仁慈、溫和文雅,不會用刀杖傷害我的身體。』 佛陀說:『假如他們用刀杖傷害你的身體,你該怎麼辦?』 邠耨回答說:『我應當心裡想:』那個國家的人善良、柔和、溫和文雅,不會用利刀傷害我的性命。』 佛陀說:『假如他們用利刀傷害你的性命,你該怎麼辦?』 邠耨回答說:『我應當心裡想:』身體有六種感官,因此而受苦惱,厭惡身體的各種煩惱,不凈之物流出,追求刀是爲了食物,心志只在味道上,進入寂靜狀態,把刀看作食物。』 佛陀說:『好啊,邠耨!你能夠用這樣的比喻,調伏順從,寂靜忍辱,仁慈賢良,在那個國家可以隨心所欲。』 於是,邠耨立即從座位上站起來,向佛陀的腳稽首,右繞三圈,自己回到房間,當晚蓋上被子,在床上安穩地睡著了。第二天早晨穿好衣服,拿著缽前往那個國家。很快到達那個國家,在一個夏天的時間裡,教化勸導,建立了五百位清信士,五百位清信女,興建了五百座寺廟,五百個洞窟床鋪,以及法座、被子、枕頭各五百份。教化了五百人出家為沙門,在當年就證得了三達,隨即圓寂。

The Buddha said, 'If someone were to scold you, what would you do?' Binou replied, 'I should think to myself: 『They still love me, respect me, consider me virtuous, gentle, and haven't used tiles or stones to strike me.』' The Buddha said, 'If they were to strike you with tiles and stones, what would you do?' Binou replied, 'The people of that country are kind, benevolent, gentle, and refined; they would not harm my body with swords or sticks.' The Buddha said, 'If they were to harm your body with swords or sticks, what would you do?' Binou replied, 'I should think to myself: 『The people of that country are kind, gentle, and refined; they would not harm my life with sharp knives.』' The Buddha said, 'If they were to harm your life with sharp knives, what would you do?' Binou replied, 'I should think to myself: 『The body has six senses that cause suffering, I detest the body's various afflictions, impure things flow out, the pursuit of the knife is for food, the mind is only on the taste, entering a state of tranquility, regarding the knife as food.』' The Buddha said, 'Excellent, Binou! You are capable of using such analogies, to subdue and comply, to be tranquil, patient, benevolent, and virtuous. In that country, you can do as you please.' Then, Binou immediately rose from his seat, bowed his head to the Buddha's feet, circled him three times to the right, and returned to his room. That night, he covered himself with a blanket and slept soundly in bed. The next morning, he put on his clothes, took his bowl, and went to that country. He quickly arrived in that country, and within one summer, he taught and encouraged, establishing five hundred laymen, five hundred laywomen, building five hundred temples, five hundred cave beds, and five hundred sets of dharma seats, blankets, and pillows. He converted five hundred people to become monks, and in that year, they attained the three insights and then passed into Nirvana.

滅度未久,諸比丘眾無央數千,往詣佛所稽首足下,卻在一面,俱白佛言:「有一比丘名曰邠耨,佛為粗舉說其要法,今已滅度已來未久,為何所獲得何證乎?」

佛言:「諸比丘!彼族姓子已興三達證得六通,諦觀順法無與等者,不與餘事唯講法典,諸漏已盡無復塵垢,已度想念脫于智慧。現在於法極達諸通,證具足,于生死已斷,稱舉梵行所作已辦,鮮名色本諸慧無生,聖智具足已得羅漢。」於時,世尊莫不稱譽咨嗟無極邠耨文陀尼子。

佛說如是。比丘莫不歡喜

現代漢語譯本:佛陀滅度后不久,無數比丘前往佛陀所在之處,頂禮佛足,然後退到一旁,一同向佛陀稟告說:『有一位比丘名叫邠耨,佛陀曾為他簡略地講述了要義佛法,他現在滅度不久,請問他獲得了什麼成就,證得了什麼果位呢?』 佛陀說:『各位比丘!那位善男子已經證得了三明,獲得了六神通,他如實觀察佛法,無人能與他相比。他不參與其他俗事,只專注于講解佛法經典。他已經斷盡了一切煩惱,不再有任何塵垢,已經超越了思想念頭,解脫了智慧的束縛。他現在對於佛法已經通達一切神通,證得了圓滿的果位,已經斷絕了生死輪迴,成就了清凈的梵行,所作的事情已經完成。他的名色之本已經消滅,一切智慧不再生起,聖智已經圓滿,已經證得了阿羅漢果。』當時,世尊對邠耨文陀尼子讚歎不已。 佛陀說完這些話,比丘們都非常歡喜。

English version: Not long after the Buddha's passing, countless monks went to where the Buddha was, bowed at his feet, and then stood to one side. Together, they reported to the Buddha, 'There was a monk named Binou. The Buddha briefly explained the essential Dharma to him. He has passed away not long ago. What achievements did he attain, and what fruit did he realize?' The Buddha said, 'Monks! That good man has already attained the three knowledges, gained the six supernormal powers. He observes the Dharma truthfully, and no one can compare to him. He does not engage in other worldly affairs, but only focuses on explaining the Dharma scriptures. He has exhausted all defilements, no longer has any dust, has transcended thoughts and ideas, and is liberated from the bondage of wisdom. He has now thoroughly understood all the supernormal powers of the Dharma, has attained the complete fruit, has cut off the cycle of birth and death, has accomplished pure conduct, and has completed what needed to be done. The root of his name and form has been extinguished, all wisdom no longer arises, his holy wisdom is complete, and he has attained the Arhat fruit.' At that time, the World Honored One praised Binou Wentuo Ni Zi without end. The Buddha spoke these words, and the monks were all very happy.
