佛說三轉法輪經

三藏法師義凈奉 制譯

如是我聞:

一時,薄伽梵在婆羅痆斯仙人墮處施鹿林中。爾時,世尊告五苾芻曰:「汝等苾芻!此苦聖諦,于所聞法如理作意,能生眼智明覺,汝等苾芻!此苦集、苦滅、順苦滅道聖諦之法,如理作意,能生眼智明覺。

「汝等苾芻!此苦聖諦是所了法,如是應知,于所聞法如理作意,能生眼智明覺。

「汝等苾芻!此苦集聖諦是所了法,如是應斷,于所聞法如理作意,能生眼智明覺。

「汝等苾芻!此苦滅聖諦是所了法,如是應證,于所聞法如理作意,能生眼智明覺。

「汝等苾芻!此順苦滅道聖諦是所了法,如是應修,于所聞法如理作意,能生眼智明覺。

「汝等苾芻!此苦聖諦是所了法,如是已知,于所聞法如理作意,能生眼智明覺。

「汝等苾芻!此苦集聖諦是所了法,如是已斷,于所聞法如理作意,能生眼智明覺。

「汝等苾芻!此苦滅聖諦是所了法,如是已證,于所聞法如理作意,能生眼智明覺

現代漢語譯本 《佛說三轉法輪經》 (三藏法師義凈奉旨翻譯) 一時,佛陀在婆羅痆斯仙人墮處施鹿林中。那時,世尊告訴五位比丘說:『你們這些比丘!關於這苦聖諦,如果能如理作意地聽聞佛法,就能生起眼、智、明、覺。你們這些比丘!關於這苦集、苦滅、順苦滅道聖諦之法,如果能如理作意地聽聞佛法,就能生起眼、智、明、覺。』 『你們這些比丘!這苦聖諦是應當瞭解的法,應當這樣認知。如果能如理作意地聽聞佛法,就能生起眼、智、明、覺。』 『你們這些比丘!這苦集聖諦是應當瞭解的法,應當這樣斷除。如果能如理作意地聽聞佛法,就能生起眼、智、明、覺。』 『你們這些比丘!這苦滅聖諦是應當瞭解的法,應當這樣證得。如果能如理作意地聽聞佛法,就能生起眼、智、明、覺。』 『你們這些比丘!這順苦滅道聖諦是應當瞭解的法,應當這樣修習。如果能如理作意地聽聞佛法,就能生起眼、智、明、覺。』 『你們這些比丘!這苦聖諦是應當瞭解的法,應當這樣已經知曉。如果能如理作意地聽聞佛法,就能生起眼、智、明、覺。』 『你們這些比丘!這苦集聖諦是應當瞭解的法,應當這樣已經斷除。如果能如理作意地聽聞佛法,就能生起眼、智、明、覺。』 『你們這些比丘!這苦滅聖諦是應當瞭解的法,應當這樣已經證得。如果能如理作意地聽聞佛法,就能生起眼、智、明、覺。

English version The Sutra of the Three Turnings of the Dharma Wheel Spoken by the Buddha (Translated by the Tripitaka Master Yijing under Imperial Decree) Thus have I heard: At one time, the Bhagavan was in the Deer Park at Isipatana, where the sages had fallen, near Varanasi. At that time, the World Honored One addressed the five bhikshus, saying: 『O bhikshus! Regarding this Noble Truth of Suffering, if you attend to the Dharma as it should be heard, you can generate the eye, wisdom, clarity, and understanding. O bhikshus! Regarding the Dharma of the Noble Truths of the Arising of Suffering, the Cessation of Suffering, and the Path Leading to the Cessation of Suffering, if you attend to the Dharma as it should be heard, you can generate the eye, wisdom, clarity, and understanding.』 『O bhikshus! This Noble Truth of Suffering is a Dharma to be understood; thus it should be known. If you attend to the Dharma as it should be heard, you can generate the eye, wisdom, clarity, and understanding.』 『O bhikshus! This Noble Truth of the Arising of Suffering is a Dharma to be understood; thus it should be abandoned. If you attend to the Dharma as it should be heard, you can generate the eye, wisdom, clarity, and understanding.』 『O bhikshus! This Noble Truth of the Cessation of Suffering is a Dharma to be understood; thus it should be realized. If you attend to the Dharma as it should be heard, you can generate the eye, wisdom, clarity, and understanding.』 『O bhikshus! This Noble Truth of the Path Leading to the Cessation of Suffering is a Dharma to be understood; thus it should be cultivated. If you attend to the Dharma as it should be heard, you can generate the eye, wisdom, clarity, and understanding.』 『O bhikshus! This Noble Truth of Suffering is a Dharma to be understood; thus it has been known. If you attend to the Dharma as it should be heard, you can generate the eye, wisdom, clarity, and understanding.』 『O bhikshus! This Noble Truth of the Arising of Suffering is a Dharma to be understood; thus it has been abandoned. If you attend to the Dharma as it should be heard, you can generate the eye, wisdom, clarity, and understanding.』 『O bhikshus! This Noble Truth of the Cessation of Suffering is a Dharma to be understood; thus it has been realized. 「汝等苾芻!此順苦滅道聖諦是所了法,如是已修,于所聞法如理作意,能生眼智明覺。

「汝等苾芻!若我於此四聖諦法未了三轉十二相者,眼智明覺皆不得生,我則不于諸天魔梵、沙門婆羅門一切世間,舍離煩惱心得解脫,不能證得無上菩提。

「汝等苾芻!由我於此四聖諦法解了三轉十二相故,眼智明覺皆悉得生,乃于諸天魔梵、沙門婆羅門一切世間,舍離煩惱心得解脫,便能證得無上菩提。」

爾時世尊說是法時,具壽憍陳如及八萬諸天,遠塵離垢得法眼凈。佛告憍陳如:「汝解此法不?」

答言:「已解。世尊!」

「汝解此法不?」

答言:「已解。善逝!」由憍陳如解了法故,因此即名阿若憍陳如(阿若是解了義)。

是時地居藥叉聞佛說已,出大音聲,告人天曰:「仁等當知,佛在婆羅痆斯仙人墮處施鹿林中,廣說三轉十二行相法輪,由此能于天人魔梵、沙門婆羅門一切世間,為大饒益,令同梵行者速至安隱涅槃之處,人天增盛阿蘇羅減少。」由彼藥叉作如是告,虛空諸天四大王眾皆悉聞知。如是展轉于剎那頃盡六慾天,須臾之間乃至梵天普聞其響,梵眾聞已復皆遍告廣說如前,因名此經為三轉法輪

『諸位比丘!這通向苦滅的聖道真諦是應當瞭解的法,如此修習,對於所聽聞的法如理作意,能生起眼、智、明、覺。 『諸位比丘!如果我對於這四聖諦法沒有了知三轉十二相,眼、智、明、覺都不能生起,我就不能在諸天、魔、梵、沙門、婆羅門一切世間,舍離煩惱心得解脫,不能證得無上菩提。 『諸位比丘!由於我對於這四聖諦法了知三轉十二相,眼、智、明、覺都得以生起,才在諸天、魔、梵、沙門、婆羅門一切世間,舍離煩惱心得解脫,便能證得無上菩提。』 當時,世尊宣說此法時,具壽憍陳如和八萬諸天,遠離塵垢,得到法眼清凈。佛告訴憍陳如:『你理解這法了嗎?』 回答說:『已經理解了,世尊!』 『你理解這法了嗎?』 回答說:『已經理解了,善逝!』由於憍陳如理解了法,因此就名為阿若憍陳如(阿若是理解的意思)。 這時,地居藥叉聽到佛陀說法后,發出巨大的聲音,告訴人天說:『諸位應當知道,佛陀在婆羅痆斯仙人墮處施鹿林中,廣泛宣說三轉十二行相的法輪,由此能在天、人、魔、梵、沙門、婆羅門一切世間,帶來巨大的利益,使一同修梵行的人迅速到達安穩涅槃之處,人天增多而阿修羅減少。』由於那藥叉作了這樣的宣告,虛空中的諸天四大王眾都聽到了。這樣輾轉相告,在剎那間傳遍了六慾天,須臾之間乃至梵天都聽到了這個響聲,梵眾聽了之後又都普遍告知,廣泛宣說如前,因此稱此經為三轉法輪。

'Monks! This Noble Truth of the Path leading to the cessation of suffering is a dharma to be understood. Having practiced thus, with proper attention to the dharma that has been heard, one can generate the eye, wisdom, clarity, and understanding.' 'Monks! If I had not understood the three cycles and twelve aspects of these Four Noble Truths, the eye, wisdom, clarity, and understanding would not have arisen. I would not have been able to abandon defilements and attain liberation in all the worlds of gods, demons, Brahmas, ascetics, and Brahmins, and I would not have attained unsurpassed enlightenment.' 'Monks! Because I understood the three cycles and twelve aspects of these Four Noble Truths, the eye, wisdom, clarity, and understanding all arose. Thus, in all the worlds of gods, demons, Brahmas, ascetics, and Brahmins, I abandoned defilements, attained liberation, and was able to attain unsurpassed enlightenment.' At that time, when the World Honored One was speaking this dharma, the venerable Kaundinya and eighty thousand gods, free from dust and defilement, attained the pure Dharma Eye. The Buddha said to Kaundinya, 'Do you understand this dharma?' He replied, 'I understand, World Honored One!' 'Do you understand this dharma?' He replied, 'I understand, Well-Gone One!' Because Kaundinya understood the dharma, he was therefore named Ajnata Kaundinya (Ajnata means 'understood'). At that time, the earth-dwelling Yakshas, having heard the Buddha's teaching, made a great sound, announcing to gods and humans, 'You should know that the Buddha, in the Deer Park at Isipatana near Varanasi, is widely expounding the Wheel of Dharma with its three cycles and twelve aspects. By this, he brings great benefit to all the worlds of gods, humans, demons, Brahmas, ascetics, and Brahmins, enabling those who practice the holy life to quickly reach the peaceful place of Nirvana. Humans and gods are increasing, while Asuras are decreasing.' Because the Yakshas made this announcement, the Four Great Kings of the heavens in the sky all heard it. In this way, the message spread throughout the six desire realms in an instant, and in a short time, even the Brahma heavens heard the sound. The Brahma assembly, having heard it, also universally announced and widely proclaimed it as before. Therefore, this sutra is called the Three Turnings of the Wheel of Dharma.

時五苾芻及人天等,聞佛說已,歡喜奉行

當時五位比丘以及人和天人等,聽聞佛陀的教誨后,都歡喜地遵照實行。

At that time, the five monks, along with humans and deities, having heard the Buddha's teachings, joyfully followed and practiced them.
