佛說八正道經
後漢安息國三藏安世高譯
聞如是:
一時,佛在舍衛國祇樹給孤獨園。佛告諸弟子:「聽我說邪道亦說正道。何等為邪道?不諦見、不諦念、不諦語、不諦治、不諦求、不諦行、不諦意、不諦定。是為道八邪行。
「何等為道八正行?一者諦見。諦見為何等?信佈施、信禮、信祠、信善惡行自然福、信父母、信天下道人、信求道、信諦行、信諦受。今世後世,自黠得證自成。便相告說是為諦見。
「第二諦念為何等?所意棄欲、棄家、不瞋恚怒、不相侵,是為諦念。
「第三諦語為何等?不兩舌、不傳語、不惡罵、不妄語,是為諦語。
「第四諦行為何等?不殺盜淫,是為諦行。
「第五諦受為何等?是聞有道弟子法求,不可非法,飯食、床臥、病瘦正法求,不可非法,是為諦受。
「第六諦治為何等?生死意共合行,所精進行,出力因緣行,乃精進不厭意持,是為諦治。
「第七諦意為何等?生死行合意念、向意念,不妄不共意求,是名為諦意
現代漢語譯本 《佛說八正道經》 我聽聞是這樣的: 一時,佛在舍衛國祇樹給孤獨園。佛告訴諸弟子:『你們聽我說邪道,也說正道。什麼是邪道?不正見、不正念、不正語、不正業、不正命、不正精進、不正意、不正定。這就是八邪行道。 『什麼是八正行道?第一是正見。什麼是正見?相信佈施、相信禮敬、相信祭祀、相信善惡行為自然有福報、相信父母、相信天下修行人、相信求道、相信真理的實踐、相信真理的接受。今生來世,自己通過智慧獲得證悟,自己成就。然後互相告知,這就是正見。 『第二是正念,什麼是正念?心中捨棄慾望、捨棄家庭、不嗔恚憤怒、不互相侵犯,這就是正念。 『第三是正語,什麼是正語?不兩舌、不傳閑話、不惡語謾罵、不妄語,這就是正語。 『第四是正業,什麼是正業?不殺生、不偷盜、不邪淫,這就是正業。 『第五是正命,什麼是正命?聽聞有道弟子依法求取,不以非法手段,飲食、床鋪、醫藥等,都以正法求取,不以非法手段,這就是正命。 『第六是正精進,什麼是正精進?生死之意與修行相結合,所精進的修行,出力因緣的修行,乃是精進不厭倦地堅持,這就是正精進。 『第七是正意,什麼是正意?生死之行與意念相結合,向著意念,不虛妄不與他人爭奪,這就是正意。
English version The Sutra of the Buddha's Discourse on the Eightfold Path Translated by An Shigao, Tripitaka Master from Parthia of the Later Han Dynasty Thus have I heard: At one time, the Buddha was in the Jeta Grove of Anathapindika's Garden in Shravasti. The Buddha said to his disciples, 'Listen to me as I speak of the wrong path and also of the right path. What is the wrong path? Wrong view, wrong thought, wrong speech, wrong action, wrong livelihood, wrong effort, wrong mindfulness, wrong concentration. These are the eight wrong paths. 'What are the eight right paths? First is right view. What is right view? Believing in giving, believing in reverence, believing in offerings, believing that good and bad actions naturally bring blessings, believing in parents, believing in the world's practitioners, believing in seeking the path, believing in the practice of truth, believing in the acceptance of truth. In this life and the next, one gains enlightenment through one's own wisdom, one achieves it oneself. Then they tell each other, this is right view. 'Second is right thought. What is right thought? In one's mind, abandoning desires, abandoning family, not being angry or wrathful, not infringing upon others, this is right thought. 'Third is right speech. What is right speech? Not speaking with a double tongue, not gossiping, not using harsh or abusive language, not lying, this is right speech. 'Fourth is right action. What is right action? Not killing, not stealing, not engaging in sexual misconduct, this is right action. 'Fifth is right livelihood. What is right livelihood? Hearing that disciples of the path seek according to the Dharma, not through unlawful means, food, bedding, medicine, all are sought through the right Dharma, not through unlawful means, this is right livelihood. 'Sixth is right effort. What is right effort? The intention of life and death is combined with practice, the practice that is diligently pursued, the practice of putting forth effort, is to diligently persevere without weariness, this is right effort. 'Seventh is right mindfulness. What is right mindfulness? The actions of life and death are combined with mindfulness, directed towards mindfulness, not falsely, not competing with others, this is called right mindfulness.'

「第八諦定為何等?生死意合,念止、相止、護已止、聚止。不可為、不作所有罪,不墮中庭。是名為諦定。
「比丘!所有道弟子,當受是八種行諦道,如說行可得道八行覺。諦見者信佈施,後世得具福,信禮者見沙門道人作禮福,信祠者懸繒燒香散花然燈,信所行十善是為自然得福,信父母者信孝順,信天下道人者喜受經,信求道者為行道。信諦行者斷惡意,信諦受者不犯戒。今世後世,自黠為得黠,能教人得證,自成者能成人。能成他人,便相告說,是名為諦見知。如是便自脫亦脫他人。
「第二諦念所意起者為失意,欲棄家者爲念道,不瞋恚怒者為忍辱,不相侵者當正意。
「第三諦語者,不惡罵不犯口四過,但說至誠道品諦要。
「第四諦行者,不殺盜淫而行誠信。
「第五諦不墮貪者,但求一衣一食為賤醫。
「第六諦治者為向三十七品經。
「第七諦意者日增三十七品經,不離意。
「第八諦止者不忘因緣,止者常還意護,已止者一切無所犯,聚止者得福道。」
佛說如是。皆歡喜受
『第八諦定指的是什麼?是生死意念的結合,念頭止息、表象止息、守護止息、聚集止息。不做、不為一切罪惡,不墮入中道。這被稱為諦定。 『比丘們!所有道的弟子,應當接受這八種行諦之道,如所說修行可得道八行覺悟。諦見者相信佈施,來世能獲得福報;相信禮拜者,見到沙門道人行禮能得福;相信祭祀者,懸掛絲綢、焚香、散花、點燈;相信所行的十善是自然得福;相信父母者,相信孝順;相信天下道人者,喜歡接受經文;相信求道者,是爲了修行;相信諦行者,斷除惡意;相信諦受者,不犯戒。今生來世,自己聰明能使自己聰明,能教導他人得證悟,自己成就也能成就他人。能成就他人,便互相告知,這被稱為諦見知。這樣便能自己解脫也能解脫他人。 『第二諦念所意起指的是失去意念,想要捨棄家庭的是爲了念道,不嗔恚憤怒的是爲了忍辱,不互相侵犯的應當心懷正念。 『第三諦語指的是,不說惡語,不犯口四過,只說至誠的道品真諦要義。 『第四諦行指的是,不殺生、不偷盜、不邪淫,而要行誠信。 『第五諦不墮貪指的是,只求一衣一食,視為卑賤的醫者。 『第六諦治指的是,趨向三十七道品經。 『第七諦意指的是,每日增長三十七道品經,不離於意念。 『第八諦止指的是,不忘因緣,止息指的是常回護意念,已止息指的是一切無所犯,聚集止息指的是獲得福德之道。』 佛陀如此說道。大家都歡喜接受。
'What is the eighth true determination? It is the union of the intention of life and death, the cessation of thought, the cessation of appearance, the cessation of protection, and the cessation of gathering. Not to do, not to commit any sins, not to fall into the middle path. This is called true determination.' 'Monks! All disciples of the path should accept these eight paths of true practice, as it is said that through practice one can attain the eight awakenings of the path. Those who see the truth believe in giving, and will gain blessings in the next life; those who believe in worship, will gain blessings by bowing to monks and Taoists; those who believe in sacrifice, will hang silk, burn incense, scatter flowers, and light lamps; those who believe in the ten good deeds they perform will naturally gain blessings; those who believe in parents believe in filial piety; those who believe in Taoists of the world are happy to receive scriptures; those who believe in seeking the path are doing so for practice; those who believe in true practice, cut off evil intentions; those who believe in true acceptance, do not break precepts. In this life and the next, one's own wisdom can make oneself wise, and one can teach others to attain enlightenment. One's own achievement can also achieve others. Being able to achieve others, they will tell each other, this is called true seeing and knowing. In this way, one can liberate oneself and also liberate others.' 'The second true thought, what arises from intention, refers to losing intention; wanting to abandon the family is for the sake of contemplating the path; not being angry or wrathful is for the sake of patience; not invading each other should be with right intention.' 'The third true speech refers to not speaking evil words, not committing the four faults of the mouth, but only speaking the true essence of the path and the true meaning of the teachings.' 'The fourth true action refers to not killing, not stealing, not committing sexual misconduct, but practicing honesty and trustworthiness.' 'The fifth true non-greed refers to only seeking one piece of clothing and one meal, regarding oneself as a lowly physician.' 'The sixth true cure refers to moving towards the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment.' 'The seventh true intention refers to daily increasing the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, not departing from intention.' 'The eighth true cessation refers to not forgetting the causes and conditions; cessation refers to constantly returning to protect intention; already ceased refers to not committing any offenses; gathering cessation refers to obtaining the path of blessings.' The Buddha spoke thus. Everyone joyfully accepted.
