聞如是:

一時,佛游拘夷那竭國力士所生地大叢樹間,與比丘千二百五十人俱。臨滅度時,時國臣民皆出來會。佛問阿難:「斯國大眾何故云集?」賢者阿難白世尊曰:「有大石山去此不遠,方六十丈高百二十丈,妨塞門途行者回礙,五百力士同心議曰:『吾等膂力世稱希有,徒自畜養無益時用,當共徙之立功後代。』即便並勢齊聲唱叫,力盡自疲不得動搖,音震遐邇,是故𪏭民輻湊來觀。」

佛告阿難:「改正法服嚴行視之。」阿難受教,即從坐起稽首佛足,獨坐𢫌侍,在佛后翼從而進趣。諸大眾五百力士遙睹佛臻,金顏從容,威耀巍巍,端正殊妙,色像清凈,大士相好,莊嚴其身,降伏陰種,無有衰入,其心湛然,諸根寂定,和悅調隱,為天人最,洪焰暉赫,晃若寶山,如大炬明,照耀幽冥,如大山崗,而有積雪,如日之光,升于朝陽,如秋月盛,眾星特明,如轉輪王與諸寶臣四部眾俱,如樹花殖,暐曄繁茂,英艷無量,超出聖躬。五百力士無數之眾,瞻戴神變,莫不喜踴,善心薦發普而奉迎,五體自歸稽首足下,一心歸竦退住一面。

於是,世尊問諸力士:「汝等何故體疲色悴?」答曰:「今此大石方六十丈高百二十丈,欲共舉移,始從一日勤身戮力,至於一月永不可動,慚恥無效取笑天下,是以疲竭姿色憔悴

現代漢語譯本 我聽聞是這樣的: 一時,佛在拘夷那竭國力士出生地的大叢樹間游化,與一千二百五十位比丘在一起。臨近涅槃時,該國的臣民都出來集會。佛問阿難:『這個國家的大眾為何聚集?』賢者阿難稟告世尊說:『有一座大石山離這裡不遠,方圓六十丈,高一百二十丈,阻礙了道路,使行人繞道而行。五百位力士同心商議說:『我們的力氣世所罕見,只是自己養著沒有實際用處,應當一起搬走它,為後代立功。』他們就一起用力,齊聲吶喊,力氣用盡,疲憊不堪,卻不能使山動搖,聲音震動遠近,因此百姓都聚集來觀看。』 佛告訴阿難:『整理好法衣,莊嚴地前去觀看。』阿難接受教誨,立即從座位上起身,向佛陀的腳稽首,獨自坐在一旁侍奉,在佛陀身後跟隨前進。大眾和五百位力士遠遠地看到佛陀到來,金色的容顏從容不迫,威嚴光耀,端正殊妙,色相清凈,具有大士的相好,莊嚴自身,降伏了陰暗的習性,沒有衰老,內心清澈,諸根寂靜,和藹可親,是天人中最尊貴的,光芒四射,如同寶山,像巨大的火炬一樣明亮,照耀著幽暗,像大山崗一樣,覆蓋著積雪,像太陽的光芒,升起在朝陽中,像秋天的滿月,眾星格外明亮,像轉輪王與眾寶臣和四部大眾在一起,像樹木開花,茂盛繁榮,美麗無比,超出了聖潔的身體。五百位力士和無數的民眾,瞻仰著佛陀的神變,無不歡喜踴躍,善心萌發,普遍地迎接佛陀,五體投地,稽首佛足,一心恭敬,退到一旁。 於是,世尊問眾力士:『你們為何身體疲憊,臉色憔悴?』他們回答說:『現在這座大石山方圓六十丈,高一百二十丈,我們想一起搬走它,從一天開始就勤奮努力,直到一個月都不能移動,感到慚愧,沒有成效,被天下人恥笑,因此疲憊不堪,臉色憔悴。』

English version The Buddha Speaks of the Sutra of the Strong Man Moving a Mountain Translated by the Tripiṭaka Master Dharmarakṣa of Western Jin Dynasty Thus have I heard: At one time, the Buddha was traveling in the great grove of trees in the land of Kuśinagara, the birthplace of strong men, together with twelve hundred and fifty monks. As he was approaching Parinirvana, the ministers and people of the country all came out to assemble. The Buddha asked Ananda, 'Why are the masses of this country gathered?' The venerable Ananda replied to the World Honored One, 'There is a large stone mountain not far from here, sixty fathoms square and one hundred and twenty fathoms high, obstructing the road and causing travelers to detour. Five hundred strong men have agreed that, 'Our strength is rare in the world, and it is useless to just keep it to ourselves. We should move it together and establish merit for future generations.' They then exerted their strength together, shouting in unison, but exhausted themselves without being able to move it. The sound shook far and wide, and therefore the people have gathered to watch.' The Buddha said to Ananda, 'Adjust your Dharma robes and go forth to observe it solemnly.' Ananda received the teaching, immediately rose from his seat, bowed at the Buddha's feet, sat alone to attend, and followed behind the Buddha. The masses and the five hundred strong men saw the Buddha approaching from afar, his golden countenance calm and composed, his majesty awe-inspiring, his form supremely beautiful, his appearance pure, possessing the marks of a great being, adorning his body, subduing the seeds of darkness, without decline, his mind clear, his senses tranquil, harmonious and gentle, the most honored among gods and humans, his radiance brilliant, like a precious mountain, like a great torch, illuminating the darkness, like a great mountain range covered with snow, like the light of the sun rising in the morning, like the full moon in autumn, the stars especially bright, like a wheel-turning king with his precious ministers and the fourfold assembly, like trees in bloom, flourishing and abundant, infinitely beautiful, surpassing the holy body. The five hundred strong men and countless people, beholding the Buddha's divine transformation, were all filled with joy, their good hearts arose, and they universally welcomed the Buddha, prostrating themselves at his feet, with one mind reverently retreating to one side. Then, the World Honored One asked the strong men, 'Why are you so tired and pale?' They replied, 'This large stone mountain is sixty fathoms square and one hundred and twenty fathoms high. We wanted to move it together, and from the first day we have worked diligently, but even after a month we cannot move it. We are ashamed and ineffective, and are laughed at by the world. Therefore, we are exhausted and our faces are pale.'


。」「此何所希冀?」力士答曰:「唯然大聖!我之福力莫能逾者,庶幾欲徙石光益於世,著名垂勛銘譽來裔,使王路平直荒域歸伏。」佛告力士:「明汝至愍意不堪任,吾為爾移遂汝本願,使汝戴功慎無愧懼。」力士歡喜啟曰:「敬從。」

於時世尊更整法服,以右足大指,蹶舉山石挑至梵天,手右掌受,摶之三轉,置於虛空,去地四丈九尺,還著掌中,三指篾屑吹令銷瀃,應時三千大千世界六返震動。時諸力士,見佛神變威靈顯發,即懷惶怖衣毛為豎,白世尊曰:「此之舉指,為是大聖父母恩養乳哺力耶?神足智慧意行力乎?」答曰:「乳哺之勢,非餘力也。若吾建設神足之力,則能移此三千大千佛之世界,舉置殊異百千佛土,都不使人有往來想,不危眾生不害地蟲。」力士又問:「乳哺之力何所狀像?」世尊報曰:「凡牛之力百,當水牛力一;水牛力百,當青牛力一;青牛力百,當𤛆牛力一;𤛆牛力百,當竹牛力一;竹牛力百,當草象力一;草象力百,當凡象力一;凡象力百,當黑象力一;黑象力百,當白象力一;白象力百,當龍力一;龍力百,當可畏力士力一;可畏力士力百,當段力士力一;段力士力百,當崩墮力士力一;崩墮力士力百,當大破壞力士力一;大破壞力士力百,當半人乘力士力一;半人乘力士力百,當人乘力士力一;人乘力士力百,當大人乘力士力一;無央數不如如來、至真、等正覺乳哺之力。」佛告諸力士:「汝等當知,是為如來乳哺之力也

『這又是什麼期望呢?』力士回答說:『是的,大聖!我的福力沒有能超過的,只是希望移動這塊石頭,使它的光芒利益世間,使我的名聲和功勛流傳後世,使王道平坦,荒涼之地歸順。』佛告訴力士:『明白你的至誠憐憫之心,但你不能勝任。我為你移動它,成全你的本願,使你建功立業,不要感到慚愧和恐懼。』力士歡喜地回答說:『遵從您的旨意。』 這時,世尊整理好法衣,用右腳大拇指,挑起山石,舉到梵天,用右手掌接住,在空中旋轉三圈,放在虛空中,離地四丈九尺,又回到掌中,用三指將碎屑吹散,應時三千大千世界六次震動。當時,各位力士,看到佛的神變威靈顯現,都感到惶恐,汗毛豎立,對世尊說:『這舉起手指的力量,是大聖父母恩養乳哺的力量呢?還是神足智慧意行的力量呢?』佛回答說:『乳哺的力量,不是我的力量。如果我運用神足的力量,就能移動這三千大千佛的世界,把它放到其他百千佛土,都不使人有往來的想法,不危及眾生,不傷害地上的蟲子。』力士又問:『乳哺的力量是什麼樣的呢?』世尊回答說:『凡牛的力量一百,相當於水牛的力量一;水牛的力量一百,相當於青牛的力量一;青牛的力量一百,相當於𤛆牛的力量一;𤛆牛的力量一百,相當於竹牛的力量一;竹牛的力量一百,相當於草象的力量一;草象的力量一百,相當於凡象的力量一;凡象的力量一百,相當於黑象的力量一;黑象的力量一百,相當於白象的力量一;白象的力量一百,相當於龍的力量一;龍的力量一百,相當於可畏力士的力量一;可畏力士的力量一百,相當於段力士的力量一;段力士的力量一百,相當於崩墮力士的力量一;崩墮力士的力量一百,相當於大破壞力士的力量一;大破壞力士的力量一百,相當於半人乘力士的力量一;半人乘力士的力量一百,相當於人乘力士的力量一;人乘力士的力量一百,相當於大人乘力士的力量一;無數個大人乘力士的力量,都不如如來、至真、等正覺乳哺的力量。』佛告訴各位力士:『你們應當知道,這就是如來乳哺的力量啊。』

'What is this hope?' The strongman replied, 'Yes, Great Sage! My blessed power cannot surpass it, I only wish to move this stone, so that its light may benefit the world, and my name and merits may be passed down to posterity, so that the royal road may be smooth and the desolate lands may submit.' The Buddha told the strongman, 'I understand your sincere compassion, but you are not capable of it. I will move it for you, fulfilling your original wish, so that you may establish merit and not feel ashamed or fearful.' The strongman joyfully replied, 'I will follow your will.' At that time, the World Honored One adjusted his robes, and with his right big toe, lifted the mountain stone, raising it to the Brahma heaven, catching it with his right palm, rotating it three times in the air, placing it in the void, forty-nine feet above the ground, and then returning it to his palm, using three fingers to blow away the fragments, and at that moment, the three thousand great thousand worlds shook six times. At that time, all the strongmen, seeing the Buddha's divine transformation and majestic power manifested, all felt terrified, their hair standing on end, and said to the World Honored One, 'Is this power of lifting a finger the power of the Great Sage's parents' nurturing and breastfeeding? Or is it the power of divine feet, wisdom, and intention?' The Buddha replied, 'The power of breastfeeding is not my power. If I were to use the power of divine feet, I could move this three thousand great thousand Buddha worlds, placing it in other hundreds of thousands of Buddha lands, without causing people to have any thoughts of coming and going, without endangering sentient beings, and without harming the insects on the ground.' The strongman then asked, 'What is the nature of the power of breastfeeding?' The World Honored One replied, 'The power of a hundred ordinary oxen is equivalent to the power of one water buffalo; the power of a hundred water buffaloes is equivalent to the power of one blue ox; the power of a hundred blue oxen is equivalent to the power of one 'gao' ox; the power of a hundred 'gao' oxen is equivalent to the power of one bamboo ox; the power of a hundred bamboo oxen is equivalent to the power of one grass elephant; the power of a hundred grass elephants is equivalent to the power of one ordinary elephant; the power of a hundred ordinary elephants is equivalent to the power of one black elephant; the power of a hundred black elephants is equivalent to the power of one white elephant; the power of a hundred white elephants is equivalent to the power of one dragon; the power of a hundred dragons is equivalent to the power of one formidable strongman; the power of a hundred formidable strongmen is equivalent to the power of one 'duan' strongman; the power of a hundred 'duan' strongmen is equivalent to the power of one collapsing strongman; the power of a hundred collapsing strongmen is equivalent to the power of one great destructive strongman; the power of a hundred great destructive strongmen is equivalent to the power of one half-human-riding strongman; the power of a hundred half-human-riding strongmen is equivalent to the power of one human-riding strongman; the power of a hundred human-riding strongmen is equivalent to the power of one great-human-riding strongman; countless great-human-riding strongmen are not equal to the power of the Tathagata, the Truth, the Perfectly Enlightened One's breastfeeding power.' The Buddha told the strongmen, 'You should know, this is the power of the Tathagata's breastfeeding.'

諸力士白世尊曰:「大聖已現乳哺之力,神足之力為云何乎?」佛告力士:「憶吾昔者與大目揵連俱游諸國,時谷饑饉,諸比丘眾不得分衛。目揵連白佛:『穀米踴貴人民餒餓,今諸比丘分衛無獲,氣力衰減不能講誦,日日轉羸懼不全命。往古天地始成之時,地出自然甘露之味,食者康寧四大用安,後人福薄味沒于地。今欲反地出古之味,比丘國人普得救命,令得飽滿誦經念道。』佛告目連:『且止!假欲反地,地有蟲蛾蠕動之類必被危害,又眾人福薄,不應服食古之地味。』目連又曰:『我將諸比丘及饑羸民,詣郁單曰土,使就食自然粳米。』世尊告曰:『其有神足者能自致到,未得輕舉安能往乎?』目連答曰:『無神力者,我當扶接使往獲安。』目連之德威變若斯,計閻浮提廣長二十八萬里,其地上廣下狹;瞿耶尼域廣長三十二萬里,其地似半月形;弗于逮域廣長三十六萬里,其地正圓;郁單曰域廣長四十方里,其地正方;週迴繞山為四方域。滿中人民令得神足如大目連,一一充溢三千大千世界,不及如來神力,百倍、千倍、萬倍、億倍、巨億萬倍,計空不比無以為喻,是為如來神足力也。」

力士又白:「大聖!已現乳哺、神足之力,愿復示現智慧之力。」世尊告曰:「計大海深三百三十六萬里,廣長難限,須彌山王在大海中,高三百三十六萬里,根在海底亦三百三十六萬里,辟方亦爾。其大海水悉可飲盡令無有餘,舍利弗智慧不可測量,無能減者

諸位力士對世尊說:『大聖已經展現了乳哺之力,那麼神足之力又是怎樣的呢?』佛告訴力士們:『回想我過去和大目犍連一起遊歷各國時,正值穀物歉收,饑荒蔓延,眾比丘無法乞食。目犍連對佛說:『穀米價格飛漲,人民飢餓難耐,現在眾比丘乞食無獲,氣力衰減,無法誦經,日漸虛弱,恐怕難以保全性命。在遠古天地初成之時,大地曾涌出天然甘露美味,食用者身體康健,四大安穩。後來人們福報淺薄,甘露之味便消失於地底。現在我想讓大地重新涌出遠古的美味,讓比丘和國人都能得到救命,讓他們吃飽后可以誦經念道。』佛告訴目犍連:『且慢!如果強行讓大地涌出甘露,地裡的蟲蟻等生物必定會受到傷害,而且眾人福報淺薄,不應該食用遠古的甘露。』目犍連又說:『我將帶領眾比丘和飢餓的民眾,前往郁單曰洲,讓他們食用那裡的天然粳米。』世尊說:『有神足的人可以自己到達,沒有輕身能力的人又怎麼能去呢?』目犍連回答說:『沒有神力的人,我將扶持接引他們,讓他們也能平安到達。』目犍連的德行威能尚且如此,要知道閻浮提的廣長有二十八萬里,地面上寬下窄;瞿耶尼洲的廣長有三十二萬里,形狀像半月;弗于逮洲的廣長有三十六萬里,形狀是正圓形;郁單曰洲的廣長有四十萬里,形狀是正方形;四周環繞著山脈,形成四個區域。即使讓所有的人都擁有像大目犍連一樣的神足,一一充滿三千大千世界,也比不上如來的神力,如來的神力是他們的百倍、千倍、萬倍、億倍、巨億萬倍,用空來比喻也無法形容,這就是如來的神足之力。』 力士又問:『大聖!您已經展現了乳哺之力和神足之力,希望您再展現智慧之力。』世尊說:『計算大海的深度有三百三十六萬里,廣闊無邊,須彌山王在大海中,高三百三十六萬里,根在海底也有三百三十六萬里,四方都是如此。即使能把大海的水全部喝乾,使之滴水不剩,舍利弗的智慧也是不可測量的,沒有人能夠減少它。』

The strong men said to the World Honored One, 'Great Sage, you have already shown the power of nurturing, what then is the power of divine feet?' The Buddha told the strong men, 'Recall that in the past, when I traveled with Maha Maudgalyayana through various countries, there was a famine, and the monks could not beg for alms. Maudgalyayana said to the Buddha, 'The price of grain is soaring, and the people are starving. Now the monks cannot obtain alms, their strength is waning, they cannot recite scriptures, and they are growing weaker day by day, fearing for their lives. In ancient times, when heaven and earth were first formed, the earth produced a natural sweet dew, and those who ate it were healthy and their four elements were at peace. Later, people's blessings became shallow, and the taste of the dew disappeared into the earth. Now I want to make the earth bring forth the ancient taste again, so that the monks and the people of the country can be saved, and they can recite scriptures and contemplate the Way after they are full.' The Buddha told Maudgalyayana, 'Wait! If you force the earth to bring forth the dew, the insects and ants in the earth will surely be harmed, and also, the blessings of the people are shallow, and they should not eat the ancient taste of the earth.' Maudgalyayana then said, 'I will lead the monks and the starving people to Uttarakuru, so that they can eat the natural rice there.' The World Honored One said, 'Those who have divine feet can reach there by themselves, but how can those who do not have the ability to levitate go?' Maudgalyayana replied, 'Those who do not have divine power, I will support and guide them, so that they can also reach there safely.' The virtue and power of Maudgalyayana were already like this. Know that Jambudvipa is 280,000 leagues in breadth and length, and the ground is wide at the top and narrow at the bottom; Kukkutapada is 320,000 leagues in breadth and length, and its shape is like a half-moon; Aparagodaniya is 360,000 leagues in breadth and length, and its shape is a perfect circle; Uttarakuru is 400,000 leagues in breadth and length, and its shape is a perfect square; it is surrounded by mountains, forming four regions. Even if all the people were to have divine feet like Maha Maudgalyayana, and each one filled the three thousand great thousand worlds, they would not be comparable to the divine power of the Tathagata. The divine power of the Tathagata is a hundred times, a thousand times, ten thousand times, a hundred million times, a hundred million times greater than theirs. It cannot be described by comparing it to emptiness. This is the divine power of the Tathagata's feet.' The strong men then asked, 'Great Sage! You have already shown the power of nurturing and the power of divine feet, we hope you will also show the power of wisdom.' The World Honored One said, 'The depth of the ocean is calculated to be 336,000 leagues, and its breadth is immeasurable. Mount Sumeru is in the ocean, 336,000 leagues high, and its roots are also 336,000 leagues deep in the seabed, and it is the same in all directions. Even if one could drink all the water of the ocean, leaving not a single drop, the wisdom of Sariputra is immeasurable, and no one can diminish it.'

。使四方域滿中人民,皆令得智慧如舍利弗,一一充溢三千大千世界,不比如來智慧之力,百倍、千倍、萬倍、億倍、巨億萬倍,計空不比無以為喻,是為如來智慧力也。」

力士又白:「大聖!已現乳哺、神足、智慧之力,愿復示現意行之力。」世尊告曰:「假使興云充遍四域,及三千大千世界普大霖雨,所由來所經歷處,若莖節枝葉花實,若器中水山石草蘆,蚑行喘息人物之類,大大小小一一渧皆歸巨海,悉能分別追而名之,又皆識煉旋而復之不差其本,如來意力悉知悉了無所掛礙,是為如來意行力也。」

力士又白:「大聖!已現乳哺、神足、智慧、意行之力,寧復有異超過此者乎?」世尊告曰:「如來乳哺之力,摩目乾連神足之力,舍利弗智慧之力,聲聞緣覺意行之力,不比如來十種之力廣遠難限。」

力士問曰:「何謂十力?」世尊告曰:「悉見微妙遠近邪正,處處非處處,有限無限,明審如有則悉知之,是一力也。過去來今諸所報應經歷之處,明審如有則悉知之,是二力也。禪定正受三解脫門,明審如有則悉知之,是三力也。睹見眾生諸力心本本凈無所不了,明審如有則悉知之,是四力也。曉眾萌類若干種語,心念不同形貌各異,明審如有則悉知之,是五力也。分別群𪏭雜種無量情態各異,明審如有則悉知之,是六力也。智慧如海言善無量,追識一切宿命所更,明審如有則悉知之,是七力也。曉了欲縛解縛之要,所在隨行應病授藥,天眼見人善惡終始殃福所歸,明審如有則悉知之,是八力也

現代漢語譯本:『如果讓四方世界充滿人民,都讓他們獲得像舍利弗一樣的智慧,每一個都充滿三千大千世界,這也不能比得上如來的智慧之力。即使是百倍、千倍、萬倍、億倍、巨億萬倍,用盡一切計量也無法比擬,這就是如來的智慧之力。』 力士又說:『大聖!您已經展示了乳哺、神足、智慧之力,希望您再展示意行之力。』世尊說:『假設興起雲彩充滿四方,以及三千大千世界普降大雨,雨水所來之處、所經過的地方,無論是莖節枝葉花朵果實,還是器皿中的水、山石草蘆,以及爬行的、喘息的、人物等,大大小小每一滴都歸入大海,都能分別追溯並說出它們的名稱,又能辨識煉化,使它們恢復原狀,沒有絲毫差錯。如來的意力完全知曉,沒有任何障礙,這就是如來的意行力。』 力士又說:『大聖!您已經展示了乳哺、神足、智慧、意行之力,難道還有其他力量能超過這些嗎?』世尊說:『如來的乳哺之力,摩目乾連的神足之力,舍利弗的智慧之力,聲聞緣覺的意行之力,都不能比得上如來的十種力量的廣闊深遠,難以限量。』 力士問道:『什麼是十力?』世尊說:『完全明瞭微妙的遠近、邪正,處所和非處所,有限和無限,如果存在,就完全知曉,這是第一力。過去、現在、未來所受的報應和經歷的地方,如果存在,就完全知曉,這是第二力。禪定、正受、三解脫門,如果存在,就完全知曉,這是第三力。觀察眾生的各種力量和心性,原本清凈,沒有不瞭解的,如果存在,就完全知曉,這是第四力。瞭解各種生物的語言,心念不同,形貌各異,如果存在,就完全知曉,這是第五力。分別各種雜類,無量的情態各異,如果存在,就完全知曉,這是第六力。智慧如海,言辭善巧無量,追溯認識一切宿命所經歷的事情,如果存在,就完全知曉,這是第七力。瞭解慾望的束縛和解脫的關鍵,根據情況給予相應的教導,天眼能看到人的善惡終始和福禍歸宿,如果存在,就完全知曉,這是第八力。』

English version: 'If the four regions were filled with people, and they all attained wisdom like Sariputra, each one filling the three thousand great thousand worlds, it still could not compare to the power of the Tathagata's wisdom. Even if it were a hundredfold, a thousandfold, a millionfold, a billionfold, or countless billions of times greater, it would be immeasurable and incomparable. This is the power of the Tathagata's wisdom.' The strong man then said, 'Great Sage! You have already demonstrated the powers of nurturing, spiritual feet, and wisdom. I wish you would now demonstrate the power of intention.' The World Honored One said, 'Suppose clouds arose and filled the four regions, and the three thousand great thousand worlds were showered with heavy rain. Wherever the rain came from and passed through, whether it be stems, branches, leaves, flowers, or fruits, or water in vessels, mountains, rocks, grass, reeds, or crawling, breathing, or human beings, every single drop, large or small, that returned to the great ocean, could be individually traced and named. Moreover, they could be identified, refined, and restored to their original state without any error. The Tathagata's power of intention fully knows and understands without any hindrance. This is the Tathagata's power of intention.' The strong man then said, 'Great Sage! You have already demonstrated the powers of nurturing, spiritual feet, wisdom, and intention. Is there any other power that surpasses these?' The World Honored One said, 'The Tathagata's power of nurturing, Maudgalyayana's power of spiritual feet, Sariputra's power of wisdom, and the Pratyekabuddhas' power of intention cannot compare to the Tathagata's ten powers, which are vast, far-reaching, and immeasurable.' The strong man asked, 'What are the ten powers?' The World Honored One said, 'To fully understand the subtle, the near and far, the right and wrong, the places and non-places, the limited and unlimited, if they exist, to fully know them, this is the first power. To fully know the past, present, and future retributions and experiences, if they exist, this is the second power. To fully know the meditative states, right concentration, and the three doors of liberation, if they exist, this is the third power. To observe the various powers and minds of sentient beings, originally pure and without any lack of understanding, if they exist, to fully know them, this is the fourth power. To understand the languages of all kinds of beings, their different thoughts, and their various appearances, if they exist, to fully know them, this is the fifth power. To distinguish the various kinds of beings, their countless different states, if they exist, to fully know them, this is the sixth power. To have wisdom like the sea, to be skillful in countless words, to trace and recognize all past lives, if they exist, to fully know them, this is the seventh power. To understand the key to the bondage and liberation of desires, to give appropriate teachings according to the situation, and to see with the divine eye the beginning and end of people's good and evil deeds and their karmic destinations, if they exist, to fully know them, this is the eighth power.'

。道耳徹聽聞天人聲,蚑行喘息蠕動之音無所不了,明知如有則悉知之,是九力也。佛無諸漏終始永盡無復縛著,神真睿智自知見證,究暢道行可作能作無餘生死,睹十方人眾生根本無所不察,明審如有則悉知之,是為十力也。」

諸力士白世尊曰:「大聖!已現乳哺、神足、智慧、意行及十種力,寧有殊異復超諸力乎?」世尊告曰:「一切諸力雖為強盛,百倍千倍萬倍億倍,無常之力計為最勝多所消伏。所以者何?如來身者金剛之數,無常勝我當歸壞敗,吾今夜半,當於力士所生之地而取滅度,於四衢路供養舍利興建塔寺。所以者何?其四方人赍諸華香,跱立幢幡,懸繒鈴蓋,然燈奉進,一切皆就真妙之法。」

佛於是頌曰:

「法起必歸盡,  興者當就衰, 萬物皆無常,  慮是乃為安。 得百千金山,  福祚難為喻, 不如供泥塔,  欣豫歸勝寺。 獲寶百千藏,  福慶不可計, 不如供泥塔,  喜踴歸勝寺。 設百千寶車,  載色如紫金, 不如供土寺,  踴躍歸命佛。」

佛說是經時,諸力士眾五百人等,知世無常三界難怙,無一真諦唯道可依,貢高即除不計吾我,皆發無上正真道意,應時皆得立不退轉之地。有無央數百千天人,遠塵離垢,諸法法眼生。

佛說如是,莫不歡喜,各以頭面著地為佛作禮

English version: 'Doerche heard the voices of the heavenly beings, and the sounds of all crawling and wriggling creatures, and understood them all. He clearly knew that if such sounds existed, he would fully understand them, and this is the ninth power. The Buddha had no defilements, completely and eternally extinguished from beginning to end, with no more attachments or clinging. He possessed true and profound wisdom, capable of self-knowledge and witnessing. He thoroughly understood the path of practice, able to accomplish all that should be done, with no more cycles of birth and death. He could observe the roots of all beings in the ten directions, without failing to understand anything. He clearly knew that if such things existed, he would fully understand them, and this is the tenth power.' The strongmen said to the World Honored One, 'Great Sage! You have already demonstrated nursing, supernatural powers, wisdom, mental actions, and the ten powers. Are there any other extraordinary powers that surpass these?' The World Honored One told them, 'Although all powers are strong, even if they are a hundred, a thousand, ten thousand, or a hundred million times stronger, the power of impermanence is still the most powerful, capable of destroying everything. Why is this so? Although the body of the Tathagata is as firm as diamond, the power of impermanence will eventually overcome me, causing me to return to decay. Tonight, at midnight, I will enter Nirvana in the place where the strongmen were born, and I will offer relics and build pagodas and temples at the crossroads. Why is this so? Because people from all directions will bring flowers and incense, erect banners, hang silk and bells, and light lamps to make offerings, all in pursuit of the true and wonderful Dharma.' The Buddha then spoke in verse: 'The arising of Dharma must return to extinction, the flourishing must decline, all things are impermanent, contemplating this brings peace. Obtaining hundreds of thousands of gold mountains, the blessings are hard to describe, it is better to offer a mud pagoda, joyfully returning to the superior temple. They eliminated their arrogance and no longer clung to the self, all generating the unsurpassed and true aspiration for enlightenment, and immediately attained the state of non-retrogression. There were also countless heavenly beings and beings who were far from defilement and obtained the pure Dharma eye. After the Buddha finished speaking, everyone was very happy, and each bowed their heads to the ground, paying homage to the Buddha.
